Dragon Ball Super 052

For fuck’s sake, Trunks...

There’s too many characters in this thing.  Bulma is refurbishing the time machine for the assault on Goku Black, but she’s also got the Pilaf gang doing gofer work in the lab.  Also, her dad is helping, and Kid Trunks is around too.  Well, maybe the problem isn’t that there’s too many characters.  It’s that this montage of working on the time machine could have just been edited down to a few seconds, or cut altogether.

Seriously, the way they keep cramming Pilaf scenes into this arc, you’d think Emperor Pilaf’s agent negotiated some sort of amazing contract with Toei.  He doesn’t have any technical skills, and seems to leave all the manual labor to Mai and Shu, but he still hangs around anyway, making insipid comments about everything.  He’s kind of like the Zamasu Saga’s answer to Giru from GT. 

And I guess that makes Kid Trunks like GT Pan, because he has zero impact on the plot, and he keeps hanging around anyway in a desperate bid to be taken seriously.  He goes with Mai to fetch some doohickey in “Lab 2″, which is an empty storage room with a pile of stuff in one corner, and he just pulls out random objects hoping she’ll be impressed with how he found what they needed.  Then he finds a hacksaw and some cable and ties it around his chest like Future Trunks’ sword.  That just looks dangerous. 

Meanwhile, Future Trunks doesn’t have much to do while he’s waiting for Bulma to finish his ride.  She tells him it’s going well, but it’ll take a full day to manufacture enough fuel for the trip.  Trunks is amazed because it took Future Bulma a year to make the same fuel, but this Bulma has the advantage of working with the full resources of Capsule Corp.  Trunks is just fortunate that this version of Bulma recently discovered how to make this fuel.  It was the stuff she had Monaka help her with in Episode 44.

So Trunks goes outside, where Piccolo and Krillin have been tasked with repairing the grounds after the fight with Goku Black.  He asks about Gohan and they tell him he’s left the world of fighting behind.  That... doesn’t make sense, because Gohan begged Piccolo to whip him into shape after the whole Golden Frieza thing.  They were training together in the Universe 6 arc, and the only reason they stopped was so Piccolo could participate in the tournament. 

Anyway, Trunks tells Krillin and Piccolo the story of how the Gohan in his world trained him before he died, which is weird because you would think they’d know all of this.  Well, maybe not Kirllin, but Piccolo should definitely know, because he overheard Trunks telling Goku about it when they first met.  The point is that Trunks regrets not thanking Gohan when he last saw him after the Cell Games, and Krillin suggests that he go visit Gohan at the university where he... works?  Studies?  Interns?  I have no idea what Gohan’s status is in this.  Is he a student or part of the faculty?

Anyway, Trunks eats soft-serve ice cream with Gohan and he can’t believe it.

He meets Gohan’s family and can’t believe it.

Pan mugs him and he can’t believe it.

And as they sit down for dinner, Trunks realizes that this could have been his life in his own timeline.  He had saved the world from the androids and Cell, and they were rebuilding.  If Goku Black hadn’t shown up, then he could have been having this idyllic life with Bulma and Mai and that cat from episode 47. 

Note to self, I need to commission some art of a scene like this, but with Xeno Trunks instead of Blunks, and Luffa in Mai’s seat, kind of slouching all badass, maybe eating a lobster in one hand like it’s a burger.

I say this because this is the sort of thing I envision for Future Trunks and Future Bulma in the Time Patrol continuity.  I’ve been writing a fic about that for a while now, and they don’t get featured as much as I’d like, but I enjoy writing scenes where Bulma comes to Toki Toki City to check on the equipment, and she gets to spend time with her son and meet his rowdy ancestor.  Maybe this is why I hate the Zamasu Saga so much.  It’s precisely because Goku Black ruined this sort of happy life for these characters, and a story where that happens is the exact opposite of the sort of thing I wanted to see. 

So Trunks thanks them for the meal and heads home, feeling refreshed.  Seeing Gohan living the dream has reminded him of what he’s fighting for, and it proves that he can succeed.  The thing Trunks needs to understand is that all this peaceful stuff he finds in this world is thanks to him.  Beerus and Whis can scold him for meddling with history, but fuck ‘em.  In this world, Gohan got to live!  He has a wife and baby daughter!  And two arms!  Even if Trunks rolls snake-eyes for the rest of his life, no one can take away what he’s done for this world. 

When he gets back to Capsule Corp, he asks where Goku is, and they tell him he went with Beerus and Whis to Universe 10.  Wait what?   Yeah, when Goku Black fought the real Goku, Whis thought Black’s energy seemed familiar, and it reminded him of a guy he knows in Universe 10, so they’re going to check it out.

And then we get a glimpse at this shithead.  I’m pretty sure this is the first and last time we get to see Zamasu keeping his mouth shut, so enjoy it while you can.

Death Battle Heroes Team Up

I and my friend have been talking about this idea for a while.

Imagine all of the heroes/anti-heroes that have shown up in Death Battle

The candidates for this team are anyone who can be considered a full-on hero (fight bad guys and save the world), or even an anti-hero (same but maybe with darker/more brutal methods/motivations, Red Hood, Venom became bros with Spidey later on IIRC, etc.), and they must have appeared on Death Battle, but I am willing to extend it to characters who have appeared in the animation but aren't the advertised combatants (Trish and Jeanne) or are basically confirmed (Ruby Rose and Maka Albarn + Soul Eater), just to add some variety to their franchise reps b/c DB has a shit load of Marvel and DC and many franchises have like 1-2 reps with many of them not even having their main character yet.

I imagine this crossover taking place in some weird nexus outside of space-time so we don't have to deal with the complete consequences of their settings crossing over as well as to explain how canonically dead characters are here too.

All Pokemon who appear in DB will just be a part of Red's collection. Charizard has the Mega Stone and we've seen that Mewtwo can Mega Evolve under his own power.

Imagine the chaos of having Tatsumaki, the Reds and Blues (Xeno Trunks would have an aneurysm after hearing about their time travel BS), 3 My Little Ponies, A couple of Shonen Dumbass protagonists, and more all working together.

Ben has pretty good samples of badass new DNA to scan for cool new transformations: Goku, Superman, Optimus Prime, and Glacius for example. I wonder if he would get Chozo DNA from scanning Samus?

Imagine all of the technology/science-based heroes all bringing their heads together to make something badass (Give Genos a freaking Upgrade so he isn't reduced to scraps in most of his fights).

Goku and Zoro now have plenty of new martial artists/swordsmen to learn and grow from. Yes, Goku is like 50 billion times Universal now and could wipe out all of them in one move, but he can still hold back against a weaker opponent if he thinks he can learn something new from them. Or at the very least he'd be happy to help other martial artists grow, like Ryu (Street Fighter, not Hayabusa), Po, Guy, and Lee.

We recently talked about the possibility that The Seven from The Boys, specifically Homelander, would try to muscle in and lead this team, saying that they are totally awesome heroes, but with Op people like Goku and Superman or the 4 super wizards (Fate, Zatanna, Strange, and Scarlet Witch) they are gonna be put in their place eventually.

The main problem with some of the options for heroes is that they are a bit too dark/brutal. Like we have Guts as a possible hero, but the world of Berserk is super hardcore compared to a lot of these franchises. It feels like if you have the setting or something from Berserk, someone would basically need to have all sorts of horrible shit happen to them (Killed, Eaten, that third thing that Boomstick mentioned in Guts vs Nightmare, or all 3 at once). The tonal clash really messes with this.

This is just a fun idea my friend and I have been talking about that I thought I'd share. It'd be interesting to see if anyone else has any interesting possible interactions between the heroes.

GOKU VS SUPERMAN 3 (Dragon Ball vs DC) DEATH BATTLE PREDICTION

Toughts: I'm kinda excited and also disappointed, the reason why I'm excited is because the fight, track, the analasys and this most lokely be better than the last and plus love Goku and like Superman so I'm happy to see them come back, but I am kinda disappointed because Death Battle already this marchup twice and in the second one it sounded like they're done and there's also the fact that both Goku and Superman have other opponents, but overall I'm still excited for the fight and the potential.

Prediction:

Now at first glance it seems like it will be another Superman W, since he already won twice, however Ben twitted saying that Superman will have limits and there using DBH and Infinite Frontiere

Meaning it will CC Goku against a composite Superman, now yes from the looks of it, it does look like Superman will win since it's a composite, but I think that will be the case infect I think Goku has decent chance at winning, let me explain. First of there usong DBH and if you don't know how powerful Xeno Goku is then you'll see why you shouldn't underesstemate, Xeno Goku in base form was able to defeat Demigra how can destroy infinite timelines that houses infinite multiverses and he defeated the third form Demigra how can destroy tje real world as well

Also base form Xeno Goku can defeat Mira how can control fate itself and transcended time

Also Xeno Goku fought Black Janemba how's a concept of evil itself.

Now you maybe asking "why are you talking about Xeno and not CC Goku?" Well you see it's because CC Goku scales and even defeated Xeno Goku in one shot. That's right he one shoted Xeno Goku how should be boundless, making CC Goku also boundless as well. And also something I should meantion is that Xeno Goku has experinced DB, DBZ, DBGT and the DBZ movies and also fought Beerus, meaning he fougth Metal Cooler how can fight Goku with instant tanioss movement whitch puts Xeno Goku to imessurable speed and CC Goku in UI omen was fater than Xeno Goku in his SSJ4 Limit Breaker.

So yeah overalln I do think Goku has a good chance at wining against Superman.

Super Dragon Ball Heroes 25-28

Hey, Janemba’s back in black.  Let’s see if I can knock this one out before I go to work.

Last time, “Dr. W” lured Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta to Hell, where he fought them both to a standstill, then sent all the data he collected to Janemba, who is now somehow back and ready to kick some ass.  I don’t understand why this was even necessary, since Dr. W was doing just fine on his own.

I feel like a pair of Super Saiyan 4′s ought to have an easier time against Janemba than this, but his color scheme is different, and he does have all of that data to warn him about things like “Goku punches a lot” and “watch out for Vegeta’s rapid fire attack that never works.”

Then all the other good guys teleport in, and I guess this was Fu’s plan?  He used Bojack and Turles to keep them busy while he birdnapped Tokitoki, then he sent them all to Hell, where Janemba would be ready to finish them off.

Oh, and Xeno Trunks can do Super Saiyan 3.  You know, they could let Xeno Pan do all sorts of crazy transformations, just like everyone else in this show, but they don’t, because Toei’s a bunch of assholes.

Then these two show up.  Their names are Putine (left) and Salsa (right).  it is impossible for me to take Salsa seriously, because his dour expression is a little too dour, to the point of self-parody.  Also, his edgy hood has cute ears on top, like he took some Pikachu merchandise and dyed it black to complete his aesthetic. 

Putine and Salsa are demons who fought against the Time Patrol some time ago, but this time they offer a way to destroy the Universe Tree that’s currently threatening the multiverse, so they all join forces to defeat Janemba.  But Janemba won’t go down so easily, even in a six-on-one affair.

Then Salsa suggests that Xeno Goku use the same trick he used to defeat “the dark dragon”, and I finally realized he was referring to the Shadow Dragons from GT.  Which trick, though?  Fusion?  The bullshit spirit bomb?  Swallowing a Dragon Ball?  A lot of those things only worked because of GT Logic, but this isn’t GT, so we have to be careful.  Eating a Dragon Ball might actually kill a person here.

Turns out they were referring to the dumb bit where everyone lends their energy to Goku to charge up his Super Saiyan 4 form.  This is one of the stupidest bits from GT and the only consolation I have is that Vegeta Blue hates this crap even more than I do.  Xeno Vegeta seems to have no strong feelings about it, as he just stands beside Xeno Goku and accepts the same power-up. 

I guess I should talk about the worlds these characters come from.  Obviously, the concept here is that we have a set of Time Patrol characters who look like they’re from Dragon Ball GT, and a set of “main” characters who look like they’re from Dragon Ball Super.   But it doesn’t quite line up that way.  Xeno Goku remembers fighting the Shadow Dragons, but he clearly never vanished for 100 years with Shenron like Goku did in the finale of GT.  This partnership with Xeno Vegeta doesn’t work in the GT continuity, because they were only both SSJ4 for a handful of episodes.  After that, Vegeta powered down, and then Goku didn’t return to Earth until long after Vegeta’s death. 

On the Super side of things, the Goku and Vegeta in SDBH have different clothes on than what they wore in Super.  They remember the Tournament of Power, but they also remember the movie villains like Cooler, Bojack, and Turles.  Curiously, none of these characters seems to remember Janemba, so I don’t know what to make of this.

Anyway, the charge-up works, and Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta work over Janemba, then finish him off with a double Super Dragon Fist.  Does Xeno Vegeta have no pride at all? 

Wh-what if we intertwined our ki dragons together in the same villain?  Ha ha, just kidding... 

...Unless...

So with that nonsense out of the way, Putine teleports everyone to the Universe Tree.  No one questions how she knows where to go or what to do.  Then again, I guess this is the only lead they have.

Meanwhile, in a different part of Hell, we see a prisoner...

And it’s Hearts.  And he’s pretty happy, apparently.  Sheesh, does anything bother this guy?

At the Universe Tree, Vegeta tries to blow it up with a ki blast, but the tree just soaks it up like everything else.  Then Fu shows up and mocks their attempts to stop it.

Towa is also here, and she arranges for most of the good guys, and Putine and Salsa, to be teleported away.  She leaves Goku and Vegeta to fight Fu by themselves, although Fu doesn’t understand the purpose of this.

Fu seems to be more than a match for them, in part because he’s infused himself with Cumber’s dark ki, which corrupts the minds of those who come into contact with it.  You know, except for all the times fighters would hit Cumber and that didn’t happen. 

We see Cumber trussed up in a machine that presumably siphons off his power and sends it to Fu, or the tree, or whatever.  I’m starting to see why people ship Cumber and Fu.  All they ever do is get into these kinky situations.

So Fu uses Cumber’s power to make Goku and Vegeta go feral, but instead of turning on one another, they both go after Fu anyay.  Fu hits them with a big attack and that snaps them out of it, so what’s even the point?

So Goku convinces Vegeta to fuse with him, since Vegito can protect himself from the Cumber effect.  Apparently Salsa left them a pair of Potara Earrings to use.   Uh-huh....

Meanwhile, Towa explains her plan to the other good guys, whom she has trapped in a field of Cumbers’ energy.  Is Cumber that powerful?  Cooler defeated him, after all.

She informs them that she “created” Fu.  I’m pretty sure she just had a baby with Mira, but she created Mira as well, so you can never be too sure with Towa.  Fu represents the data Towa has collected from a multitude of powerful figthers.  Mira had a similar deal, so I’m pretty sure she just means Fu inherited the same chimera DNA Mira had. 

Towa then pulls some sort of dark energy out of her captives and explains that this is the “Dark Factor”, a power that once inhabited Mechikabura before his death at the hands of Trunks.  When he was defeated, Mechikabura released the Dark Factor and it went into the Time Patrollers who were there at the time.  Towa apparently arranged this so she could retrieve the Dark Factor when the time was right.  Her aim is to put the Dark Factor into Fu, which will allow him to become the new Dark Emperor, Mechikabura’s successor. 

Well, now it makes more sense why they did the special in Episode 20.  They were doing more than reintroducing Fu and the Time Patrol after all.

Xeno Goku briefly escapes from his bonds, but then Mira shows up and cuts him off.  He also brings Xeno Goten and Xeno Gohan to this place, since they had to pull the Dark Factor out of their bodies as well. 

Then they all get sucked into a time hole or something.

Back at the Universe Tree, Vegito and Fu continue to fight.  Fu is impressed with Vegito’s power, but Vegito says that Fu never knew how strong Vegito was, because all he ever did was observe him from the shadows.   Fighting Vegito directly is a whole other story.

Then Fu says the Universe Tree is finally ready, but when he goes to check on it, he’s horrified to discover that it’s withered and dead.  What could have happened?

Super Shenron happened, that’s what.  While Fu was screwing around, Beerus, Champa, Whis and Vados arranged for the Super Dragon Balls to be collected, so they could wish for the Universe Tree to be destroyed.  Well, I guess that wraps up this caper... or does it?

Potential Story

After a battle with Zamasu across multiple timelines and the future androids, everyone was given new homes in Conton City except for a version of the future versions of everyone who survived, in that timeline, including Future Gohan and Bulma. The Time Patrol's elite forces, which happened to be the Omniverse's strongest versions of the Dragon team across every reality, managed to get spots for the future versions of everyone they know with the different versions of Future Trunks and Mai having a place of their own. 

Future Gohan was staying with Gohan and Videl, and Pan, the people that jingle village were staying at Jingle Village, and last but not least, Future Bulma was going to be staying with Bulma and Vegeta from now on. However, this left one person left. Future Chi-Chi.

All the different versions of everyone tried to find a solution as to where to put her since she was extremely depressed after her version of Goku and Gohan died. Xeno and GT Goku were both ruled out of the equation due to the fact that someone need to keep an eye on her. The two of them would not be able to do that due to constantly having to run errands for everybody including normal Goku who was running his business along with the Time Patrol stuff, she certainly could not stay with the different versions of Gohan either however.

She wouldn't want to live in a place other than her own home and besides she would have a hard time adjusting to the fact that a version of her son from her original timeline was alive at the cost of everything he knew. He was also still recovering. She also could not be trusted to be at Kame's house either, considering Master Roshi's habits. All of the possibilities ruled out which only meant one place that she could be trusted to be at. The Son Family residence, Goku and Chi-Chi's home.

Of course, it took a lot of convincing Goku and Chi-Chi to let anyone live with them aside from their family but it was a lot easier to convince Chi-Chi than it was to convince Goku at that point, who was unsure what to think of it. There was a bit of conflict there. He wasn't afraid of either version of Chi-Chi at all. That was never the issue to begin with. He felt horrible about what happened to Chi-Chi in the future timeline but he didn't want to make things complicated for her as well as himself and his version of Chi-Chi.

To say that he was concerned would be an understatement. But his friends were very persistent on this factor. They spent hours trying to explain why he should allow her to stay at his place and he continued to doubt that anything would go well. Especially when he was considering the fact that he was going to be living with two versions of his wife. Knowing how long she's been without her husband, Goku assumes that the future version of Chi-Chi would have been very lonely. It didn't help that she lost her son too.

He knew she was unable to find peace at the moment, especially after what Zamasu did to her and many versions of Chi-Chi across different timelines as well. In fact, he actually witnessed it firsthand. This was a version of future Chi-Chi that was forced to be Chi-Chi Black. Although part of him did know that unlike some of the versions who grew to enjoy it, this was a version who absolutely hated it. He saw her reaction when he killed Zamasu, despite the fact that he was in Goku's own body, she saw him as her savior. 

It also didn't help the fact that he was forced to watch multiple versions of all the different versions of Chi-Chi be killed in front of him as he was being tortured by his doppelganger. He still has flashbacks and nightmares from that. Witnessing all the different versions of his wife, his children, his in-laws, his grandchildren even... Across various different versions of every timeline murdered right in front of him and he was powerless to stop it. And he was forced to watch just as many video recordings. Each one shows Zamasu killing a version of his family in every timeline he came across. When he finally broke free of his captivity thanks to the help of his allies, he helped in the final battle for sure but he did snap.

He killed Zamasu because he stopped holding back his punches. His version of Chi-Chi was the only one he opened up about this to, she had seen him at his worst. The trauma and depression that came from it. He knew Future Chi-Chi suffered just as much as he did, if not more so. Sure Goku had many regrets in his life, he made a lot of mistakes but he didn't realize they were mistakes until it was too late at times. Some of them he was justified in assuming he made the right decision but he was proven wrong. He felt horrible. Everyone may have forgiven him but part of him had never forgiven himself. He always wished he could have done more. Something. Anything differently. But it was too late to change the past. He had to focus on the here and now.

His friends are still trying to convince him to let the future version of his wife stay. Goku looked at his friends and allies over the years from the various timelines as he showed an expression of genuine concern as he then began to speak. "Guys, are you sure this is actually a good idea? What the future Chi-Chi's been through... It's horrible but... Are me and Chi-Chi the ones we should trust to look after her? It doesn't seem right. Isn't there a way we can revive her version of everybody?"

Bulma only shook her head. "With her versions of the Dragon Balls being destroyed, it would be almost impossible," Bulma said bleakly. A hint of concern on her face as she said it. "Especially since they died in her own reality. Plus her version of you died from the heart virus you got, remember?"

 "Fuck..." Goku muttered in frustration but not at Future Chi-Chi but rather at the situation. "The problem is I don't think I'll be able to trust myself to watch over her... After everything, Zamasu put me through... All the torture I had to endure…" It was clear that he was actually very concerned about this. Can he really trust himself to take care of her? Especially since now his own personal demons were now coming back to haunt him once again from his recent encounters with Zamasu. He was scared.

Of course, he tried to hide it though. He didn't want his friends to worry. He didn't want his wife to worry. It had always hurt him to know that they do worry for him. Didn't change the fact that they did though. Goku sat there as Bulma allowed him to think this through. He had to process everything that was happening.  This was a lot for him to deal with. He had time to think. "What am I going to do?" Goku said to himself with a bit of worry. His mind was all over the place. 

Bulma could see the conflict in him. The hesitancy in his demeanor which was no doubt triggered by the uncertainty behind it. "It's going to be fine," she tried to reassure her friend that she considered a brother. "She needs someplace to go and I don't think we should trust her with anyone, other than you and Chi, if I'm going to be honest."

Goku took a minute to think about what Bulma said as he then took a deep breath. Sighing as he knew he didn't have a choice but to take Future Chi-Chi into their home.
