This is a bit niche but Babs and Tim interacting with each other fic recs if you have any? Or if not just young justice being insane lol
i actually don't think i've seen too much of babs & tim... i do have some insane yj tho
by @charleswaterloo
There is an enormous container ship called the Ever Given stuck in the Suez Canal. Young Justice is on the case. During their short adventure, they also: make a massive sand sculpture, enjoy some fanfiction, and unblock the Suez Canal. Not in that order. * ‘I am thinking,’ Tim said, with extreme calm, ‘that you have made something that looks like a very large penis when viewed from above.’
‘It’s a dick and balls, yeah,’ Bart said without embarrassment. ‘It’s poetic! I’m ending the journey like it started.’ * ‘Did you-’ Dick began, laughing so hard he couldn’t breathe, ‘did you really tell him to: "at least make the shaft bigger”? Bart told Wally, and he told me but I have to know if it’s true, Tim. My life depends on it.’
i've probably recc'd this before but this crackfic should be given a plaque
by UntoldDepths
Tim's got a board zoom meeting in 15 minutes at Way Too Early and nothing ready to wear. His friends are absolutely no help and probably half the reason.
young justice are thirstyyyy

When an alien invasion falls upon the Earth, Dick loses everything he holds dear.
Until he wakes up again.
Actually a crime this fic doesn't have more recognition
by Jonaira, Kimi_f
Conner was sure of only three things. One, Tim was a vampire. Two, he maybe really liked the guy. And three, Tim unconditionally and irrevocably hated him.
Conner has never really fit in. Pulled between a life of luxury, high expectations, and neglect with Lex or anonymity, living paycheck to paycheck, and awkward distance with Clark, Conner chooses the latter. He abandons his life in sunny Hawaii, leaving him miserable and biding his time until he can move out. That is, until he meets the dazzling Wayne family, and decides to unravel their supernatural mystery. Whether the Waynes like it or not.
Twilight AU. Kind of.
I have no excuse.
by Killthespare
The League has fallen. The team is dead. All that’s left is for Dick Grayson to pick up the pieces and move forward.
Easier said than done.
AU where dick grayson has to rebuild superhero society after failsafe kills a bunch of people. CRIMINALLY UNDERRATED!!!!!!! I'M NOT JOKING, PEOPLE SHOULD BE PROSECUTED
by wearealltalesintheend
Instead of dropping out of college to join Bludhaven Police Department, Dick Grayson takes a job at Gotham's Parks and Recreation Department.
In different ways, everyone follows.
Or, Parks and Rec AU
how much drama could one park even have?
by JadedJewels
Kyle lives in New York. Well, when he’s not living on Oa. He’s also kinda sorta dating Jason Todd and the batkids want to see what he’s all about. Kyle just thinks he’s lucky Batman himself hasn’t climbed through his window.
technically not about young justice but idc I wanted to rec it so here it is
by @leaping--lizards

Sorry but I saw those tags about people not wanting to explore what a Reverse Robin AU would mean for relationships VS just doing a pallet Swap & I totally get that.
Not sure if interested, but on that topic, I often imagine Steph as being able to thrive as the first or second partner to Batman. IE, without the shadow of Jason's death being projected onto her.
This is especially so because, assuming one translates her YJ Eslewords origin story, I could easily see her jumping at the chance to be adopted and take the name Wayne.
More to the point that she'd be more directly invested in staying in Gotham, college & joining the company than Dick was, given Gotham was never exactly his hometown & he didn't want to be the heir.
Of course there might be downsides as well, as Steph would be less inclined to form a team (Save maybe 'at' college) & might not push back against some of Bruce's invasive "I worry" measures.
But that's just a thought.
(I actually modelled a 'Nightwing' Steph who goes by Knight Hawk too XD)
I honestly feel like it's no matter the order as long as Steph comes before Jason in a batkids lineup her time as Robin / batman partner would always be 100 times better then Canon tho I gotta admit a au where Steph is the og partner does sound so interesting just bc Steph is so different from any of the others and would set a different president going forward especially bc like you said she's not as likely to form a team and more likely to stick around Gotham so she's be more involved in batman and any other of the batkids lives

Me over here in my corner thinking about YJDW, and how absolutely ironically sad it would be if after all the huffing and puffing about ghosts and all the hell he gave Danny, that Wally himself came back as a ghost post-Endgame and only Danny could see and talk to him.
I need to rewatch the OG show again but for a happier alternative, what if Danny saved Wally from his original fate?
(Young Justice: Deathly Weapons)
It seems my primary creative contribution to fandom has been the creation of a bespoke, artisanal brain-corner in which people are compelled to sit and think about DW 😅.  It’s nice to know that, while I may have sunk-cost-fallacy-ed myself into this hole, the rest of you are having fun climbing into it with me.
As for an Endgame!AU, that’s kind of complicated by DW’s… let’s say fraught relationship with canon.  I really like YJ Season 1, but as everyone and their dog has been unable to escape me telling them I think lead-showrunner Greg Weisman is an appallingly bad storyteller (in fact I think he writes like a cowardly, exploitative incel) and under his “creative control” the later entries became an infuriating mess.  Back when there were only two seasons in the mainline canon I used to cut Invasion a lot more slack – allowing it to coast on the uninformed and incorrect assumption that both entries came from the same creative team, and that the seeming disjointedness of Invasion’s narrative was the result of executive meddling or troubled production at a time when a lot of Cartoon Network’s PG animated shows were infamously being put through hell by the network.
However, after the disappointment of the “revival” I did a little bit more looking into things and realised that what I actually liked was the output of Season 1’s distinct production team – a team which included heavy input from experienced DC creatives like lead-directors Jay Oliva and Michael Chang (previously credited on the Teen Titans 2004 series, which was also praised for good character-storytelling).  It became clear to me that there were actually two separate products:  Season 1 (plus a couple of early tie-in comics by non-Weisman writers)… and everything else.  Turns out that dropping your primary directors results in a directionless story, whodathunk?
Once I took off those rose-coloured glasses, I ran into the problem that it’s actually not possible to get from Season 1 to Invasion without fundamentally breaking the narrative in really unpleasant ways.   Deathly Weapons has since become fully canon-divergent from that break-point.  I want to pay respects to the arcs, themes and characterisation of the Oliva-Chang Season, which means Invasion wouldn’t reasonably happen in the DW!Verse.  Ergo, no timeskips, no character-assassinations, and Wally never gets randomly knifed to “subvert the expectations” of viewers who might be familiar with a prominent Flash-storyline from another unconnected continuity.  I’m not kidding: that is why Endgame ended the way it did, this is what Greg and Brandon think storytelling is, their opinions should not be trusted.
So in a way I guess that problem kind of solved itself.
Tumblr media
But that’s not very satisfying, is it?
Looking back at my brainstorming notes from the before-times (when DW was planned with the loose possibility of connecting back into later canon), I had a post-Endgame future-fic idea which focussed more on Dick.  The idea was for Dick to end up at Danny’s apartment while trying to cope with losing Wally.  Once there I had a scene where he wanders aimlessly while Danny is out dealing with some unavoidable adult-life stuff, leading him to find some old photos of Tucker.  The main scene was going to be Dick having a “conversation” with Tucker’s (metaphorical) spirit - speaking to the memory of his foster-brother’s late best friend about his own now-gone best friend, and asking Tucker to look out for Wally wherever they might be now.
I suppose that’s more where my style of angst lands for grief/death arcs.  I like to focus on death arcs as a reflection of the character’s life – the specifics of their personality, the distinct impression their presence left on the people around them and how the unique hole they occupied aches without them.  I’ve mentioned this before in the Jason-ask but my general thesis is that we are haunted by absences more than presences; we project ghosts in attempt to fill the hole(s) left when someone abruptly vanishes from our lives.
Because of that I tend to have very different story approaches for metaphorical ghosts (which explore the internal struggles of living characters coping with a loss) vs literal ghosts (actual tangible creatures who represent an external struggle).  I know it sounds kind of ironic considering that I killed off about 70% of the core Danny Phantom cast for Deathly Weapons, but when I kill a character it’s usually so I can do a retrospective on the value of their life.  So long as they’re mourned well, I don’t personally feel a need to bring most “dead” characters back.
That said, there is a lot of potential angst that could come from someone “becoming a ghost” with the way I’ve been headcanoning it to work in Deathly Weapons.  In Chapter 16, Phantom mentions that ectoplasmic ghosts are formed when the impression of a dying person’s consciousness is preserved in ectoplasm and gives rise to a new entity.  In a best-case scenario you get a complete translation of the same person to a new bio-medium, but in other cases you might get an incomplete or warped impression – missing some pieces and exaggerating others, like a reflection in a funhouse mirror.  This is how I like to explain the humanoid DP ghosts being so gimmicky and single-minded: they’re a flanderization built from only the strongest parts of their living personality at the moment of death.  It’s also one of the reasons why Phantom and the others don’t rush to “well, they might be a ghost now” as an easy solution to characters dying or being presumed-dead.  Sure, that character might not be entirely gone… but would the pieces that remain actually be them?
It’s a style of horror that isn’t especially my bag, but I think there’s a lot of potential angst mileage in that specific brand of “came back wrong” – leaving a ghost that is uncannily like you but is missing the specific memories or details needed to actually make you you.  A familiar stranger – unable to be the person they were, having no say or fault in being what they are, but who everyone has to deal with anyway (especially if they retain enough memories to understand that they know you).
That said, there would be no situation in which Wally came back as complete ghost where he wouldn’t be completely pissy about it.  Just, the indignity of it all, really.
Still, I think it’s worth considering that, while Wally is certainly giving Danny hell with where he is in the story right now (Mission 1 of Arc II at the time of this post), in any five-years-later post-DW scenario the two of them would be a lot more chill with each other.
While some of the YJ cast have ended up with relatively static planned personal arcs throughout DW (for clarity, a static arc is where a character doesn’t experience substantial personal change across a story – they may receive elaboration into their personality, history and/or develop new relationships with others but by the end they are still mostly the same person) I hope people can trust that Wally isn’t one of them.  Him acting like a sulky, stinky jerkass right now isn’t because I’m planning on having him be The Sulky Stinky Jerkass™ for the entire story, but because he’s at the start of his major personal arc.  His flaws are on full display at the moment because he’s going to have to confront those flaws, how they hurt him and others, and make the decision on whether (and how) to be better.
The loose timeline for DW’s planned story is that the main arc (right now comprising 11 planned missions) takes place over 6-ish months from the point where Phantom first joins the Team.  Wally’s personal arc is planned to be part of that.  Add an additional 4-and-a-half years on top of that and they would have had a lot of time to let the water settle under the bridge.
With that being said, we’re heading into the stormiest parts of the water at the moment.  The interpersonal angst is going to get much worse before it gets better.  Not somebody-dies level, but some people are going to hurt each other quite badly before the resolution and a LOT of yelling is going to happen.
Here’s a teaser for one of the worst lines :
“Better that than some green-wood who gets people hurt because he wanted to play hero!”
Yeah, things are going to get mean.  It may be a different flavour than some expected but I am nonetheless intending to serve 4 chapters of angst, and more than one of the boys is going to get served a lot of crow to eat over that mess.

DID I SEE AN APPRENTICE AU IN YOUR WIP LIST?!? For the ask meme, SPILL ABOUT THAT ONE.
Lol yes, yes you did:
Summary: “Slade has decided that he is in the market for an apprentice, and what Slade Wilson wants, Slade Wilson gets.” An exploration of the Teen Titans Apprentice arc as it might have occurred in the Young Justice universe.
This is a fic I've had on the backburner for years that's set in the YJ cartoon universe, but ultimately pulls from about six different places (including post-Crisis canon, post-Flashpoint canon, the DCAU, and the Teen Titans cartoon). It's set between S1 and S2, when Dick is ~16 and just transitioning to Nightwing, and also has Jason in it in addition to The Team :)
Because look: in the comics, Dick was never Slade's apprentice. Ever. As Renegade, he worked with Slade as part of an attempt to infiltrate the Society of Supervillains, but he was never Slade's subordinate or student (and was in fact training his daughter Rose at the time). HOWEVER, please consider that it was very sexy of TT03 to create the Apprentice arc because it makes for some very excellent plot bunnies about how to recreate certain aspects of that plot in a completely different universe that actually self-invites the opportunity for Batman and the Justice League to get involved.
Anyway....Dick gets lowkey recruited by Deathstroke on a mission and turns him down only to get kidnapped/forced into an apprenticeship about two weeks later. The League is off-planet negotiating some massive peace treaty the GLs couldn't deal with by themselves, so it's up to The Team, Jason, and the remaining JL members to find him (don't worry, Bruce gets involved later on).
Meanwhile, Dick is absolutely not impressed with literally anything happening to him, but thinks he can manage to get out and get home if he pretends to go along with it (Slade sees right through him, lmao). Slade is, of course, working for The Light (as he does in YJ S2), and so there's this overarching Big Plot about the Light beginning to build up all of the plans that they execute in Invasion that's happening in the background while this massive psychological struggle and tug-of-war over Dick's loyalties is happening in the foreground. And...well...that's the fic. *jazz hands* Maybe one day it will actually get written.
Ask me about one of my WIPs!

Okay feel free to tell me if I’ve done and become annoying but; what makes me so...idk amazed at the differences in yj and JL/JLU is that on paper, they feel like similar shows. Like there is a main team that slowly expands, focusing on mostly arc like storylines and hitting a LOT of the same big comic book storylines (dark side, Cadmus, etc) but it comes back to the little things;
Young justice has superheroes being hampered by too much check and balance, JLU argued the opposite, by basically making Cadmus into that check and balance.
Both shows deal with a alien invasion envoliving a person on the team being a sympathetic spy.
Both shows are probably gonna end with conflicts with Darksaid...
They both do a lot of fan service comic references.
Idk, they seem very similar but if I can be honest I think JLU is gonna age better. Alright sorry to bother, it was just differences I’ve seen while I was pondering the yj Wally is JLU Wally AU. Sorry for the bother! Have a good day/night
you’re so not annoying me shut up
I think that at the end of the day we gotta just like, be able to say “why not both?” I like both shows idk look I’m a simple girl i like lots of things

talk arisia rrab in your yj au plans to me
Arisia arrives at the very end of Part 1 & she does not get off to a great start with the group!!!! Mainly because when they saw her from afar, they thought it might have been Guy, John or Hal...
She’s been assigned to Sector 2814 in their place. Arisia is about 17/18 at this point & she really doesn’t feel prepared to maintain a sector by herself (because that’s what the Guardians are asking her to do... and she can’t... she’s a baby...) so she asks Carol Ferris for her help. Carol’s been trying to get some answers about what the hell happened on Earth out of the Guardians but it’s been going precisely nowhere, so. She agrees to help Arisia out
Carol very much fills the big sister role in Arisia’s life. She helps get her set up with an Earth identity (Cindy Simpson) & they grow pretty close
It takes Arisia a while to officially join the team. Her & Zatanna are surprisingly antagonistic? Because Zee thinks that the GLC should have helped in the invasion and Arisia’s arrival is, like, too little, too late
Oracle is the main reason she even works with the team
She & Raquel actually know each other!!!! Icon had introduced them when they were younger. They didn’t really get to become friends or anything but yeah. There’s something there
She works out of Coast City!!!!
She & Hal had their original sibling dynamic, because fuck whatever the fuck that romance was, I hated that, it was disgusting & it doesn’t exist here. Instead, Hal helped to mentor her & she misses him, working out of Coast as like... a way to honour him
She’s very much the introduction to the space side of things, there to help kinda clear up the mystery of what happened with the invasion. Not gonna say what it was, but, uh, I’m mixing and matching pieces of canon & maintaining my usual stance of ‘fuck the Guardians’
Arisia is probably the happiest member of the team, if that makes sense? The rest of them lived through the Invasion and it definitely scarred them & while her job as a GL hasn’t exactly been sunshine and rainbows, it was certainly better than that
She isn’t gonna die. Like, not even retconned back to life kind of death. Girl is here to stay
She’s one of the main characters of this AU!!! And I’m so excited to get to her, even if she doesn’t show up immediately
Up in the air what’s gonna happen with GLC, because I do wanna get Kyle Rayner into the story at some point. Who knows, maybe he’ll be a Star Sapphire instead of a GL
Out of Earth’s heroes, she’s closest with Bette Kane, Raquel Ervin & Will Harper
She & Zatanna do butt heads a lot, but that fades once Zee learns to, like, stop directing the anger she has for the Guardians at Arisia. Because Arisia is just as mad as she is...
Arisia’s arc is really about finding the truth, if that makes sense? And it isn’t easy & it’s gonna take her a while, but she didn’t become a GL because she quits easy
She doesn’t get a partner for years & when she finally does, it’s Sodamn Yat!
I’m thinking that she should host Ion at some point...

Fic rec!
https://archiveofourown.org/works/17386637/chapters/40920074
A fic I’ve been following for a long time just updated and ugh, I love this story. Its YJ-universe, but you don’t really need to be that familiar with the show because its a Failsafe AU. Meaning it diverges from a point halfway in the first season, where what was a simulation on the show where everyone on the Team and in the League died during an alien invasion, in this premise was real, and thus Dick (the last to die in the episode) is the only survivor of the Team and League, other than Roy who was off doing his own thing at the time.
So there’s the inevitable offscreen massive swath of character deaths from that, but the whole story itself is about Dick and Roy and Cheshire building the Titans from the rubble of all that and introducing Kori and Vic and Kara and assorted others. As well as the rest of the Batfam, though so far its only up to Jason and Tim (and Babs as well, though she isn’t Batgirl before the start of the story).
But highly recommend it, its very well written with high stakes and consistently strong characterization across the board and like....Dick and Jason’s dynamic alone is everything I ever want from AUs lmao, like. *cries from happy*

Young Justice:Battalion (Season 4 AU RP idea)
OK, so with the remainder of YJ: Outsiders just around the corner, it got me to thinking about the future of the Team. We have waited over 5 years for what happened after Invasion, so GOD only knows if we'll EVER see a season 4 within our lifetimes. This said, this AU Rp, that I'm thinking about making a one on one/Two on one, Intermediate effort as well as a long-running one for anyone dedicated enough, Is something I'd like to try out. Lemmie lay down the scenario for anyone interested. This is also for anyone who happens to be a fan of DC's Kingdom Come series. Teen versions of characters from that Elseworlds story as well as traditional adult ones, have starring roles. Heroes and villains alike. Now, without any further-a-do, here's the scenario in an 8 paragraph nutshell. (Some nutshell. Sorry. :S) ''The year is 2027. 10 years after the end of Outsiders. A great deal has changed in many ways. The South Korean Music Invasion of the late 10s and early 20s, along with the election of President Martin Suarez in 2020, brought a new sense of optimism to America, at least culturally. At the same time, however, a desire for the now ever growing distant past became ever more prevalent. The revivals of the Ska/Pop-Punk, Eurodance and Nu-Metal genres from the mid to late 90s and early 00s, sharing a place on the virtual charts with K-Pop groups, Folk-Pop Groups inspired by Ed Sheeran's Galway Girl, both British And American Grime artists and, oddly enough, Neo-Classical composers, has to lead to an extremely diversified music world as well as a higher sense of hope. Fertilising this ever-growing aesthetic sense of a better tomorrow, was the clearing and exoneration of many accused actors, singers, VAs and so on during the long-gone MeToo movement with names like Michael Jackson, George Takei, Jim Cummings (By now RIP), Nelly,  Nick Carter, Stan Lee, etc, being exonerated, returning to Hollywood and the entertainment industry in General, a greater sense of trustworthiness. In classrooms across the western world, Virtual Reality is becoming more prevalent, Real Meat, milk and cheese are being cloned in barrels en mass, Tv Commercials are actually watchable again, especially for Video Games, even fasion is based on a kind of ''hereditary nostalgia'' from the Late 80s, Mid 90s and Early 00s. Of course, not everything is sunshine and rainbows in the late 20s and not everything is quality. Despite the new trend of Pulp Hero Cinematic Universes and realistic romcoms in the style of Clerks, DEEPLY Experimental Horror, Adventure and Animated flicks Also dominate the box office. Outside the world of entertainment, Racism and prejudice also continue to exist as do crime and disasters. Racketeering, smuggling, Terrorism, Arson, Murder, kidnappings, Assaults and general super villainy Have been steadily on the increase and Forrest-Fires, Typhoons and especially Mudflows are becoming more frequent in Central Asia, Scandinavia and the Southern Mediterranean, thanks to climate change which, while being mended, seems to have simply migrated to other regions. Naturally, therefore, there will always be a need for Superheroes. But the old guard of humanity, The Justice League, are starting to get on in years.  Many have now been supplanted by former members of a group known as ''The Team.'' Former teen sidekicks who formed a kind of undercover, black-ops superhero group that handled covert operations the League couldn't. 15 years ago, they formed in order to step out of the League's shadow, now they have either replaced the League's former roster, while the Younger members have either gone solo, quit or gone off to join an alternative. The Outsiders, lead by veteran Hero, Black Lightning. Shortly before the Team officially disbanded, seemingly forever, Old and New members alike came together to rebuild one of the JL's old ''Haunts.'' The Hall of Justice in central Metropolis. Briefly the true HQ for the Justice League, it quickly became a front for the superior base. The Watchtower, until it's destruction by The Alien race named The Reach uncovered the League's deception. Now fully rebuilt, the Hall stands as a sign of hope that maybe, one day a new team of young heroes in need of guidance will come together to face the challenges of the present and learn from the past. Good things come to those who wait, so they say. The so-called ''Nu-Age'' has arrived. New heroes, New Powers, Young Faces. The Dark, The Bright, The Strange and experimental, The Traditionalists and Legacy holders, The powered and non-powered. The gun toters and gadget masters. Alien, human, mutant. Brash, Egotistical, Snarky, excitable, Pseudo-Nihilistic, Optimists, Tough, Kind, Strong, Quick, Big and Small, Fun and Serious, Young and Eager, Wild and Free. Maybe a combination of all or some. Names and faces such as Manotaur, 666, Nucleoid, Living Doll, Trix, Stars and Stripes among others, are the ones now trusted to defend mankind as it's defenders and champions. Of course, it's only fitting that the most ambitious one of all, the one holding these 7 loosely together is a native to Superman's home city of Metropolis, the popular teen superhero, Magog. Powerful, Shining, Charismatic, Arrogant, Intelligent, Sociable. All wrapped up in the body of one 16-year-old, Superhero Rock Star with one thing on his mind. To save the world, from itself. But dark forces are once again lurking in a seemingly ''comparatively better'' world. A new threat is beginning to emerge from the shadows, The League knows it needs back up, but with the Outsiders so busy with their own thing and the old members not getting any younger, it's time for Magog's 7, he and his ''Battalion,'' to step up, fight, learn, train, grow both as friends and as teammates and become the heroes they were always meant to be. for better...or for worse...'' So to wrap this up, The For anyone interested, the roleplaying will be done via Discord, It's for Intermediate and literate roleplayers and fans of Lore, continuity, Character AND Action-driven stories, DC Elseworlds (Kingdom Come specifically) as well as YJ. The Rating is PG-13, no smut, with Mild profanity, violence, gore, etc. Anyone who wants to discuss further lore and history and stuff like that can do so in via Tumblr IM or in the discord chat. Speaking of, Discord identity will be given via IM in order to maintain my own safety and privacy. Hope to hear from you soon.

I had this idea for a YJ au where the team stopping the Reach invasion rewrites the timeline so Bart never travels back in time and Jaime is the only one who can remember him, so he travels to the future to try and find Bart and get him to remember!
I was thinking “wow, that would be so cool. I wish someone would draw it” and then I remembered...i’m an artist...i could draw it

YJ - Fine (but never okay)
So. Recently been dragged kicking and screaming into the Young Justice fandom (Damn you Dick Grayson) and got into Failsafe AU fics (mostly cause Angst without proper time travel. No annoying mechanics or coming up with a decent reason. Just let them live and then they die and wake up and its all a simulation. Like reincarnation but same universe and people to blame.) Have a drabble. Tell me what you think. ------- Dick Grayson was fine. (No. No he wasn't. Dick was grieving. He was breaking and falling and slipping.) He was 13 years old. (He was coming up on his 45th birthday. Babs and Jay and Timmy and Dami and Roy had been planning a party that Dick had been pretending not to know about) He'd lost everything once (twice. Three times) and never wanted it to happen again. (Once when he was 8, in the circus when his parents fell and fell and fell. Once when he was 13, in the Invasion when his team burned and his mentor died and the league shattered. Once when he was 44, when he died and woke up and everything was a LIE. Everything he'd known, everyone he'd loved, his successes and his mistakes, the lives and deaths, Roy who became his best friend, Dami and Jay and Timmy who he'd raised as his own. All a figment of his imagination. It had never happened. Not according to the League. (The league he'd watched die. That he and Roy had built up again from the ashes. Filled with people who'd been dead for longer than they'd remembered living.) Not according to the team. (Who'd died on that ship 31 years ago, who'd never had to grow up and grow old and learn and live without that security net. They'd never lost everything. Never seen everything burn and fall. Had faced the invasion and the riots and the villains and a league full of young (too young. They were all too young) heroes.) It had happened again and again and again. Dick hated himself for that.) He was Robin. (He was Nightwing. He hadn't been Robin since he was 16. (Just like Roy hadn't been Red Arrow. He'd been Arsenal). Robin was Jason (his streetwise brother who'd gone on to become Red Hood). Robin was Tim (his baby brother who had been a better hacker than him and had gone on to be Red Robin). Robin was Damian (his adoptive brother who'd become more like his son. Who shared Bruce's blood but had his heart). Robin was the boys who he'd loved and raised and cared for, it was his kids.) He was fine. (But never okay. Dick didn't think he'd ever be okay again.)

Its criminal that After the Fall of Olympus by Killthespare doesn’t have more comments on it! Its on both Ao3 and ff.net - if you’re put off by it being YJ-verse and are more of a fan of the comics, its actually more about classic Titans characters and Batfam than the YJ cast. And if you’re put off by it being an Invasion AU where the League and most of the Team died in the Invasion in YJ S1, well.....okay yeah, so that’s still a thing BUT I’m telling you, try it anyway!
Its not drowning in angst, like it handles things seriously and with appropriate gravitas, but its more a “life still moves on” kinda thing. Dick forms the Titans with Donna, Garth, Roy and Cheshire, other characters like Cyborg and Kory and Gar and Supergirl are brought in gradually, Jason and Tim and Barbara still end up making their way into the Batfam via Dick instead of Bruce, its Dick/Kory without in any way trashing or invalidating Barbara or her place in Dick’s life, like.....its really good guys, and it deserves All The Readers.
