Cover art by Tsuyoshi Nagano. “Star Wars: The New Essential Chronology,” Japanese edition. February, 2006.
The Japanese edition of “Star Wars: The New Essential Chronology” depicted a saga-spanning collection by artist Tsuyoshi Nagano. In the Christmas 2015 issue of ImagineFX magazine, Nagano had these memories, “I like Mara Jade a lot, so my drawings of her tend to be full body. Her costume was created using the comics as a reference. Grand Admiral Thrawn’s skin and Mara Jade’s lightsaber match, while Qui-Gon Jinn and Yoda’s lightsabers are the same green, to keep the painting engaging.”

The general vibe I get from this episode asides from the lovely Sabezra moment is even more Norse references. From the Great Mothers standing in for the Nornir (the "fates" of the Germanic world) to the standing stones and runes. But there is one vibe that is more subtle, one that few have picked up on
Thrawn, in this instance, is Loki, the cleverest and most complex of the gods, leading his forces of undead warriors aboard his nail-ship to Ragnarök. But Loki is not there to end the world. No, it is something coming in from behind Loki that is far more terrifying and destructive.
That, my friends, is Surtr, the Fire-King, lord of Musphelheim, and it is he who represents the end of all things.
But who, then, is Surtr in the Star Wars universe?
Fans of Legends will know this enemy's name. A foe so numerous, chaotic, and devoid of all empathy. A foe that forced Imp and Rep to unite and face the threat united.
A threat known as the Yuuzhan Vong.
As much as Thrawn presents a threat to the New Republic, his actions ultimately serve to help shake them out of their stupor and arm themselves once more. And this will help them for whenever the Vong do come and try to bathe the galaxy in fire and blood.
In a way, while it seems for now that Sabine’s choice might have doomed the galaxy, she might have ended up saving it.
As Huyang said, it was the only choice she could have realistically made. Even the very wise like Ahsoka can not see all ends. Sabine was meant to give over the map, as she was meant to return with Ezra. And that is a very encouraging thought.

so is it the yuuzhan vong galaxy you think??
Tumblr media
Who wiped out the Witch Kingdom of the Dathomiri? It's not easy to take on an army of Force users.
Why is Thrawn so anxious to "escape this galaxy"? Thrawn doesn't scare easy.
It's either the Vong or the Grysk.

I know that Mandalorians and Jedi don't exactly get along, but are there any EU Mandos that were sympathetic to the Jedi Order, or at least potentially saw them as allies rather than enemies?
We have a few examples from kotor all the way up to legacy of the force
( a lot of the Jedi they do befriend don’t really follow the code fully so it makes sense they do get along)
Wellll the first most obvious one is revan of course ( I still think revan is Mando but that’s a whole other can of worms) revan and canderous working together from the beginning of kotor and the mentions of it in kotor 2 is brilliant ( I will not mention the dam novel it’s insulting to the game) (kotor 1+2)
In the mandalorian wars we also have zayne carrick he got taken into the mandalorian ranks which wasn’t the best situation but he did befriend a mandalorian family (mandalorian wars comic series)
In swtor we have shae vizla and torian if you play republic side (being a Mando though is the best in swtor)
Well obviously we can count etain and bardan aswell and all the surviving Jedi that joined clan skirata (republic commando)
You can also count fenn shysa with leia Han and Luke and the rebel alliance
And durning the vong war boba and his mandalorians fought beside a Jedi in secret
Well obviously Jaina solo with boba fett mirta gev and bevin and Medrit and their daughter and her children so Jaina kinda wins lol she got a whole load of mandos she worked and talked with lol (sintas kinda counts) (legacy of the force)
I may have missed a few pls correct me if I have
(Sorry this took a while was trying to remember who worked with the mandos)

Unpopular Opinion(apparently)
Dave Filoni’s movies that are supposed to be like The Avengers for the live action Star Wars characters is going to be about…
The Yuuzhan Vong
It is. It just is.
We are doing the whole Thrawn story, but a huge part is that the Chiss Ascendancy are aware of a far greater threat from the beyond. Palpatine is a POS, but this would bring an interesting storyline if they go with the fact that Palps found out about the Yuuzhan Vong from the Outbound Flight and created his Empire in part to battle it if and when it were to come.
Filoni’s Clone Wars has an unmade episode about them finding a derelict Yuuzhan Vong ship and it would have played out like ‘Alien’.
I think it’s super interesting to dive into the idea of an “alien” race to the galaxy that comes in. So terrible were they, that whatever creator or what-have-you in charge of the Force stripped them of their ability to contact it. Though I know Filoni didn’t plan for them to be Force immune to fit with Lucas’ vision.
We’d NEED Luke to be involved, but it could be a super interesting storyline that I’m excited for.
And I don’t feel bad about feeling that way.

I can't help but think Millennials vs the vong would be a really funny dark comedy skit
The vong: and now you will be the ultimate sacrifice
Millennials: *finally* something to give my life purpose
The vong: all life is pain
Millennials, getting off a 12 hour shift from 2 jobs: you're preaching to the choir bestie

Conversation
Grand Admiral Thrawn: The Yuuzhan Vong are like real, legit bad guys.
Captain Pellaeon: Dude, we're all bad guys.
Grand Admiral Thrawn: Uh, first of all, I care about galactic security, okay? I don't know what about that makes me a bad guy.
Captain Pellaeon: Yeah. Says the guy who dissolved the entire Noghri planet in a bath of toxic waste.
Grand Admiral Thrawn: Best Empire Day ever.

#StarWars #ThrawnThursday drabble for image:
In his ready room aboard the ISD Chimaera, Thrawn receives a long-range transmission from an ally in the Ascendancy of his homeworld Csilla in Chiss Space. With a few buttons pressing, he activates the projector, and a hologram appears. After a brief flash of the Ascendancy sigil, the transmission begins.

Afrofuturism Star Wars Jedi from Pinterest. Will add the artist when I find out who it is. Sorry, for the repost just wanted to show my followers the fantastic art. It fits a fanfic I wrote a long time ago: RISING FORCE, REBELLIOUS SEED -- THE FORETELLING
Djan and Zora Mbend belong to the last tribal lines of marooned Jedi on Haruun Kal, the remnants of the Sith Wars. They dream of building a Jedi Academy temple and getting their daughter trained as one of its leaders. However, business leaders with eyes on the Korunnai farmer lands want to exploit them, enlisting the help of the Trade Federation.

I really hate that the fucking human pet guy keeps popping up on SW tumblr
and he has some of the most irritating takes too
like how the Galaxy joining together to fight the sith in ROS shows that centralized government is unnecessary
never mind how the fleet from all over the galaxy was gathered and lead to exegol by Lando, aka was organized by a central leadership and didn't just show up on their own
And never mind how the first order rapidly conquered the galaxy precisely because they wiped out the central government, and in the absence of said central government many worlds adopted "look out for themselves" stances, which only further guaranteed the first order's successful conquest as those worlds had little chance of resisting alone
and that's just one thing, centralized government is needed in SW at the very least for dealing with common threats
threats such as...
What if the first order regroups and keeps fighting?
What if the mandalorians start conquering again?
What if we get another separatist type situation where a bunch of mega corps make a sham government that says its about democracy and self determination but really is just a corporate-military dictatorship?
What if Kanjiclub, the Guavian Death Gang, or other crime factions want to rank up from criminal organizations to actual territorial powers?
in a similar vein, what if the Hutts decide now's the time to make a comeback?
speaking of the hutts, If there’s no centralized government how do you effectively combat slavery? How do you keep slavery illegal?
What if one of the highly aggressive alien species from legends like the Ssi-ruu, the Yeventha, or the Yuuzhan-Vong get brought into canon?
what if the Chiss decide to give galactic conquest a try?
what if the Chiss start conquering worlds to harvest resources to fuel there wars against the Grysk, Vagaari, or other unknown regions powers?
what if the Yinchorri (big aggressive mind-trick immune turtles) start attacking like in legends?
which btw, was only stopped by a collective effort organized by Chancellor Valorum
Or what if stronger planets start bullying/conquering weaker planets, thus encouraging planets to create tangled webs of alliances between each other, and that in turn creates a WWI-type powder keg where a minor dispute between two planets drags their varying networks of allies into a galactic scale war?
Central government would be good for preventing that
it would also be good for enforcing a ban on superweapons and preventing the spread of that technology
very important in the post-ROS galaxy, as planet killers can now be mounted on smaller ships and mass-produced
(Not mine) The villains' plot in *The Phantom Menace* is only possible because Palpatine *takes the central government out of the picture*
and the backstory of SW is the centralized government has worked for several thousand years
so why does a few decades of it being deliberately sabotaged discount the entire concept?
Because they don't like the concept that's why
They are so obviously libertarian
I mean, their whole thesis comes down to "centralized government is unnecessary because if the collective people need some service or task done then people will just do it"
Textbook libertarian crap, the stuff that gets a town taken over by bears
And all the above is just the more dramatic exciting stuff
A central government is essential for mundane things like maintaining a universal galactic currency
Trade agreements
Consistent tax rates
saftey ratings being the same across the galaxy
Maintaining travel and communication infrastructure (eg hyperspace routes, however comms work)
exchange rates for more archaic currencies

your theory is making more sense every episode
I assume this is about Ahsoka and how I said a couple years ago that the Star Wars shows should culminate with the New Republic and Imperial Remnant being forced to work together to fight an extragalactic threat like the Grysk or the Yuuzhan Vong.
Tumblr media
When Filoni said Thrawn was going to be the main villain of the movie, I thought there was no chance. But the introduction of a new galaxy, and the New Republic senate refusing to lend aid to Hera, it seems like a possibility.
That theory was mostly me hoping that Thrawn wouldn't be a straight up villain after reading the Ascendancy Trilogy.
