This morning I celebrated that Germany finally got rid off §219a, which prohibits doctors from stating that they perform abortions (on their website or anywhere) & providing medical info about the procedure.

Now, just some hours later, I am heartbroken for all the people in the US who's right to an abortion got stripped away from them.

Abortions are healthcare and banning abortions only gets rid of safe abortions.

An Open Letter to All Medical Professionals

You have an obligation, morally, ethically, professionally, to defy the fascist laws affecting this nation.

These politicians have no right to dictate the care of your patients, especially when it is at the profound harm to them. You know that delaying an abortion when the fetus is dead and rotting is idiotic and immoral. You know that providing gender affirming care to individuals at all ages decreases suicide, self harm and devastating depression.

You've seen the data, you've got years of education, decades of experience.

The politicians who would tell you what to do have not. And would not care even if you read them every single study about the horrors of back alley abortions and the notes children forced to live with dysphoria left behind.

For them the harm is the point.

You all took an oath to do no harm, and we are now holding you to that oath.

Put your mouths, your careers, your bodies on the line for us, with us. Keep performing abortions- no matter the reason-, keep plan b and medical abortion pills on your shelves. Keep using your patients correct pronouns, keep distributing hrt and hormones blockers.

Answer every lie with truth and fact, even if you know they don't care. We do. Drown out the lies and hatred and fear mongering with facts, humanity, ethics. They cannot arrest all of you, and they won't. And you can afford the fines. We cannot.

We are begging you.

But we are also reminding you of what happens when you don't.

Stand with us or, go down in history with the doctors who gave lists of twins to Mengele. Stand with us, or be remembered with the nurses who led 'defective' children onto trains to Auschwitz. Stand with us or be recorded in ignominy with the pharmacists who turned in their 'degenerate' competitors into the SS.

It is that simple. You stand with us or you have our blood on your hands.
