I’ll always admire his simple but powerful method of treatment. He can pinpoint all the problems patients had in the past. One time after he took the pulse, he asked patient whether he worked with lots of chemicals in the past. Everyone around were so shocked because he owned a leather processing factory which did use lots of toxic chemicals when he was young. Low back pain doesn’t always come from tight muscles. Sometimes there are issues with the lumbar spine - herniated discs, spinal stenosis, and so many other things can occur to the lumbar spine that cause pain. Huatojiaji is a set of points on either side of the spine that can be placed at L1, L2, L3, L4, L5 to both reduce inflammation at the spine, but to also improve circulation at the area (wherever you can promote better blood flow, healing will occur more easily). Also, acupuncture can relieve some of the pain that occurs from a spinal problem that creates impinged nerves. It’s quite good at calming nerve pain, in my experience. If you have lumbar spine problems, acupuncture may be able to help - just don’t forget that dosing does matter.
