Infinity and Beyond - Looking Into The Sweet Signals from Space Update!

We’re finding the imposters among us with this one!

The aim of this concept is to have it be a multi-update deal akin to the Dragons storyline with how they say “like the dragon series, we’re diving into a story set in a rich, expansive universe”. This peaked my interest, I’d love to see what they have in store! I know there are some folks who like or don’t like the Dragons story, so I wonder what you all think of this!

Meet Astronaut Cookie! She’s cute, has an ice cream sandwich satellite for a pet, even has a cat cookie motif with her costume? What more could you want! Yeah, her skill might be a bit too reminiscent of Cyborg’s (who also got a skin after 84 years lol), but I’m willing to look past that.

Alright, I’m kind of vibing with the setting already, cookies are probably toothpaste, wonder if they clean your teeth when eaten. How does one “escape” or even fortify against a blackhole? I’m now getting Star Wars: Rogue One flashbacks. Just like Cyborg, it’s been 84 years since he got attention, so I’m happy to see he got a cool skin to deck himself out with!

The Surprise Bears. They can either go well or go very poorly, still means I don’t have to run over and over again for the god damn legendary ingredients. However, I do hope the challenges aren’t meant to be a cap in any way, since that already drags it down when you were able to AFK for hours beforehand, even if it sucked. Team Fight getting a gem boost might give me more incentive to play.

The cookies here didn’t look all that different too, save for their ingredients being possibly toothpaste in some capacity. She was caught staring at this one cookie in particular, she observed them inspecting the shield and instructing the robots to different spots close to the barrier, Xylitol Nova Cookie chuckled at her once he noticed.)

In light of the news that the RT website and apps will shut down on May 15, I'm starting a record of what I've got saved locally + what I'm planning to save. I am not trying to get a comprehensive archive of all AH/LP content; that's what the Archive of Pimps is for. Instead, this is a personal library that prioritizes content that I enjoyed and want to rewatch down the road.

If you think I'm missing anything, let me know. If you have requests for specific videos, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Also, if anyone has a FIRST account they don't mind sharing, I'd love to get into the RT website and get local saves of FIRST content, like Hardcore Tabletop. RT has disabled the ability to purchase a FIRST membership, and has not shared what will be happening to FIRST content once the website shutters.

Finally, I'm currently on pace to fill up a 2TB hard drive (Minecraft alone is almost 1TB), and I'll need another 2/4TB hard drive to continue nabbing local saves of things. but you're so right about everything with totk. you put it in words so well 😭 idk if you found memory 9, so i won't spoil anything, but it was SO GOOFY look up gmod smile after you watch it and explode instantly. loftwings would've made the game infinity better, like skeleehorses can go over gloom (such a silly name btw) and horses are always great, but there's nothing to ride in the sky??? missed oppurtunity imo. i basically play with no tech becuase i hate using it 😔 i have much to say on this game and sadly most of it around the plot isn't thatg nice

but no yeah i dont enjoy the tech lol. i think modern tech in fantasy is a slippery slope from “woah cool its so interesting how this fantastical society developed things we never couldve thought of” to “this isnt even fantasy its just sci-fi with medieval paint slapped over it” thats what botw vs. totk is to me. we went from giant magical mechs and tech that felt more like sentient creatures to a straight up four wheeler. also its just clunky. to me. vexes me.

i am playing it very slowly for several reasons so im not far im only two memories in (trying to do them in order) lol but im not impressed by the writing either again ive only beat the rito “dungeon” idk what to call it. it was fine. really felt like they just tried to replicate the divine beasts but it didnt work. the weird disembodied voice felt forced in totk its just this random exposition guy that felt like he was just there for the sake of mimicking the structure of the champions talking to you where in botw that makes sense because they’re important characters that you learn more about and play a role in the story and also they literally died and their souls were trapped in their beasts. and totk was like ah shit ah fuck we gotta have another disembodied voice throw this guy in there and have him lore drop on you. who is he. who cares.

and then the divine beasts were like interesting involved puzzles there was one i thiiiink the camel you literally had to turn entire parts of it to line up electrical signals to get places and unlock things it was a little frustrating but i had to think about it!! same with the elephant you had to control the entire mechanism to move things and you had to Think about it. the rito ship was just go find these things. ok the divine beasts were also that with the terminals but you had to work for it. totk really just went go walk around for awhile and find them. no real puzzle to it. there was a little bit with the doors/levers but it did not feel nearly as involved or thought through.

i will say i did like the boss fight the ice guy. cool guy. looked cool baller music neat new little thing you had to do to beat it i liked it. that was cool i will give them that they know how to get me pumped for a boss fight

ok but the cutscene with zelda near the beginning was goofy as hell. just straight up like woaaaahh she floated into the sky thats crazy!!! whaaat!!!!! felt extremely silly. i was sitting there like is this a gag is this supposed to be funny i cannot tell. very much threw me off. could not take seriously

also. fucking. got rid of her again. if they wanted to have the same success of botw maybe they should’ve gee idk changed the formula again and let zelda be with us. a two player zelda game would be so cool. even if it was still single player and we could just interact with her and have her with us im thinking kindof last of us/resident evil 4 style where she helps you do certain puzzles or helps you fight like other npcs. even if she just stayed at the base and helped purah with research and you could talk to her thatd be more interesting. GIVE HER TO ME!!

the intro really just felt like oh we have to get rid of zelda again because we need link to be alone so we can copy botw uhhhhh magic rock teleports her to the past yeah yeah that works. they decided they needed this to happen and then made a story to excuse those choices rather than actually construct something cohesive.

im not even halfway through the game so i dont wanna be tooo hard on it or form strong opinions but id rather be pleasantly surprised than disappointment after getting my hopes up. i havent been spoiled for anything but i have seen people complain in general so im kinda leaning towards disappointment lol. like its zelda im still having fun i just also am looking at it from a critcal point of view and i have plenty to say. i used this as an excuse to talk for a looong time anyways. im currently working on getting specific horse colors that i preplaned by looking at this horse chart to name after characters from a book i like ✌️ i didnt pay 70 dollars to not have any fun with this game so help me god i am going to enjoy Some of it

hm... i need to get this out of my head already...

So I’ve been thinking on and off about the possibility of Ingo having fallen into Hisui with his Poketch but since he lost his memories he doesnt remember how to use it...

To refrain from breaking it/to have people stop asking questions about what it is (please refrain from asking what it is he doesnt KNOW) he just takes it off and leaves it in his tent and kinda just ignores it until one day when he invites Akari over for a chat she stumbles upon it and is like “Oh you have some weird technology too?” and whips out her arcphone and compares them and he notices the watch also has those weird cirular pieces like whatever Akari is holding.

So shes like fiddling with it and pressing in the button and asking him how it works out of curiosity but ofc he has no idea what to do with it until Akari suddenly goes “Oh wait! Its probably just not charged!” and Ingo has to stare at her in confusion because What? What does she mean its ‘not charged’ what does that even...

So she pulls out her electric Pokemon and has it zap the watch and with bated breath she presses in the button... but nothing happens. Ingo watches her in confusion and looks between the watch and her face like...okay now what... so she hands off the watch to him and mumbles something something about finger prints maybe? and he has. No Idea. what shes talking about but whilst shes preocupied trying to figure out what to do he copies the motion she’d done by pressing in a little button on the side and suddenly the screen lights up! And Ingo is ecstatic! Because thats great! One of the few things he’d come to Hisui with is functionable again! 

So on auto pilot he starts tapping at the screen without realising he just knows how to work this thing now apparently and notices a number in the corner of the screen that is. Quite Large. and he clicks on it and he and Akari watch as he scrolls through like... 200 unread messages from an unknown number (with no name and a fuzzy picture) that all, hilariously, look like variations of this:

and thats how they find out Ingo WAS sent to Hisui for a reason. 

He was originally supposed to be the one to ‘Seek Out All Pokemon’ because of his experties in battling and Pokemon knowledge but God Fucked Up Big Time and now he’s following an entirely different and unrelated path (out of sheer luck) as a Warden thanks to God being a little too rough with his weak human body.

(I keep thinking about how funny it would look though like- Because God picked him up from one place and un-ceremoniously dropped him in another without too much care so he just fucking gmod ragdoll DONKED off the ground and lost his memories upon impact with the earth and then does the family guy death pose or some shit. Once Arceus saw his head crack into something it was like UHM. And tried to grab his attention but nothing was really working so it was like AH FUCK SHIT MY PLANS......... and so when sending in Akari it made sure to. Not. Make the same mistake and do that again. <3 Humans must be placed... a little bit more lightly on the ground hahaha-)

RIP Rooster Teeth

I had some exposure to Red Versus Blue back when I was in high school. Mostly the first season with my friend, who lived above me in the apartment after the divorce. We gamed together, he and his mother fed me when my jackass father tried putting me on the same diet craze he was on (a 40 year old fat man and a 15 year old skinny child probably shouldn't be on the same diet). We played Halo, watched the first season of Red Versus Blue as it was coming out, had our laughs, played more Halo.

RT dropped off my radar for a while there, I was too young to really care that there was a company behind it. I thought it was just a cute little thing some Halo fans were doing (which is... true, I just didn't know that there was a company).

Came back to my Radar when Youtube Let's Plays were starting to get popular. I had heard of this "Minecraft" thing and even to this day I only have a few handful of hours played on it because I could never find a gaming group to play consistently with me. So instead I had to live vicariously through Achievement Hunter. I didn't quite latch onto them immediately, but it was pretty damn early in that series lifespan. I think I discovered them by episode 30 or so, and then swung back to 'catch up' and I followed Achievement Hunter since. In those early videos they rarely showed their faces so it was hard to match voices to names. I was there when they started showing up on camera more often with their news shows or various things like "Go!" where they pick some random odd challenge and all the Hunters got to choose which game to accomplish that goal on. Great stuff. In some way I do feel like I grew up with them.

I know people toss the term "parasocial" around a lot. I have no illusions, I know these people don't know I exist. They're not my friends. But that didn't stop them from being around when I was young enough for them to become an influence to my own sense of humor and comedy. They're the reason cussing doesn't bother me. I was raised by an overbearing father where a single toe out of line gets you grounded for two weeks, making sure I remained in my room was his go-to punishment so I languished in boredom for a good portion of my teen years.

They don't know me, but I grew up with them all the same.

I don't know what the turning point was. All I can offer is "a few years ago". Possibly even just before their acquisition from some entertainment company, or it could have been right on that line. The crew started to splinter away. Ray left, whom I think played against others much better than he does in his solo twitch career. Gavin is a pretty big deal in the film industry, being a sort of go-to guy that people know have one of the best Slow-Motion cameras on demand. In that industry a lot of tech is rented rather than bought and many of them can just go "Oh hey I know a guy". A couple more break off and are replaced with the likes of Jeremy, whom I adore and I follow Jeremy Dooley's youtube to this day. He plays often with the ChilledChaos crew which brings that "buddies playing games together" vibe that I crave.

But something else happened. I called it the "tik-tok-ification of content". I remember at some point on Michael Jones's Off Topic Podcast, Trevor (who managed AH) came on to say that videos were going to start looking different. More "tightly edited". Oh no. This was the era that even Jack started splintering off to lean more into their gaming news shows and other projects. I watched as the original six became the original two. Jeremy left during the pandemic, choosing to remain at his original home.

I don't know who BlackCrystal, Ky, or Joe are. BlackCrystal was mostly fine but never morphed into the comedy sense of AH. Ky irritated the hell out of me, I don't know who she is but she had this "tiktoker reactionary let's player" vibe to her, almost constantly screaming as a reaction to every little thing. She'd turn a corner in Gmod and scream because a guy had a gun. It's a gun game. There's guns in it. Stop screaming.

Matt never gel'd with me. I found the sad sack persona and the whole meme of shitting on him because of said sad sack persona I found very tiresome pretty much immediately. I'm a bully victim in real life. If he could take it more power to him but I'm not sure I could handle being "focused down" like he was. Alfredo was funny as well, I enjoyed his dynamics with Jeremy. Then of course there was that situation with that other guy...

I had never seen Joe before but all of the sudden on an Off Topic they welcome him to the AH family and I had absolutely no idea who this was. It's like the media trope of a character showing up on the next season of a show and everyone just acts like they were always there. Or that trope where a main character suddenly has a sister or brother that was never mentioned before and then the following episodes bend over backwards to force a full arc on this new character so viewers can be forced to like them. "They're here to stay, fuckers!" These shows and movies would cry out. But you rushed it. They just... showed up.

I basically haven't watched a single AH video with Joe in it. I'm sure he's a nice guy, he's probably very funny to some people. His presence just marked a "where the hell did everyone else go?" So... I more or less stopped watching most AH content a couple years ago. I waited and waited for them to get their groove back.

Then AH shut down and they gravitated towards some painfully unfunny skit show they called Dogbark. They shifted away from the 100k views (which is far under their heyday to begin with) and their Dogbark videos struggle to eke past 10k.

In that time I've attached myself to other communities. The likes of Critical Role, which also has that 'just a bunch of friends playing a game together' vibe. And even that won't last forever. Campaign 3 is a bit of a slog, I hope they can muster up enough energy to try for a 4th but after that they might get too exhausted and want to move onto other projects.

ChilledChaos and Jeremy Dooley cut close, most of their videos are with a group of gamers but they're all single perspective. AH had that unique rotation of perspectives that always added to the humor. Yet as some people say, that's been the shift in Youtube content. Single perspective streamers. I'm not sure why that shift happened. I saw Alanah Pearce (previously of Funhaus) say in a video that that's just become the preference. I don't understand why. I can never just sit through these four to six hour streams in a single go. Even CR episodes take me two or three days to chew through. Just one person sitting in a chair often failing to keep the energy up as they mumble through loading screens and reading dialog. I'm not having fun. I don't know why that's the direction everyone is going.

I try to watch Smosh but some of their senses of humor isn't clicking for me, partially due to the tiktokification of content. I find Shayne Topp to be fucking hilarious but he's the only one who makes jokes I actually laugh at. The rest of it they get barely neutral amusement.

It's sad and it sucks to see RT go down like this because the void of competition hasn't filled that void. And it hasn't for a while, and I was just kind of holding out. I guess I'll just have to see what Michael does next, I'll follow him on any platform I care about. I'm just not sure that even he is really 'in it' anymore.

So I kinda dropped off of watching AH content after the whole R*** thing way back in 2020. But just recently I decided to watch Gav and Michael doing their Cursed Halo playthrough which was a blast. Because of that, now I’m catching up on YDYD season 4 and have watched through a couple of their recent Gmod videos and it’s been real fun. Pretty sure I’m starting to get back into them when I’d kind of figured that that part of my life was over(?). Anyways it’s been cool and I think I’ll be popping back onto here now and starting posting/reblogging some stuff again. It’s been a HOT minute.

And for anyone that’s interested, now I am SUPER into Critical Role, and also streamers like ZeRoyalViking, ChilledChaos, and the like and am very willing to chat with whoever about it all, though I’m planning to keep this blog as still a generally AH themed blog, probs with a bit of RT and (when it returns) RWBY content as well. While relaxing at home, Shantae hears a knock on her lighthouse's front door, "Coming!"

As she walks over, she wonders who could be visiting this late in the evening. It probably wasn't either of her SMGs, seeing as they'd already had an incident involving Ammo Baron and an unusually large Egg (the capitalization there is important) and filled their Wacky Misadventure quota for at least the next few days. And her canon friends all usually had their own things going on at home right about now.

Well, no more time to speculate. She opens the door with a hopefully-not-too-wide smile (Avatar-grade GMod physics are a real bitch sometimes), "Good evening! What can I...do...uh..."

She's stunned speechless by who she finds; a very tall, very attractive woman who is also very clearly Laharl! She does her best to look up at them, and then very quickly further up when she underestimates the height difference. 'Ohhh, mother have mercy do NOT oogle your genderbent mean demon friend We Have Sexy Zombie Girlfriend at Home.'

For their part, Laharl looks uncharacteristically nervous, or at least is uncharacteristically not hiding their nerves behind either aloofness or rage, "Hi Shantae. If you're not too busy I was hoping for some magic advice?"

'Okay, friend needs help. That I can work with.' "Of course! Come on in."

The two head inside and into the living room, with Shantae settling into a chair while Laharl takes the couch.

"So, what kind of advice where you looking for?"

"Well, uh...I'm guessing you've noticed I look different right now?"

'Different is certainly right.' "Well, I wasn't gonna say anything but...wait, I think I remember this from your games. Did you get stuck like this again from a SMG adventure or something? 'Cause I definitely know a few tricks to make a transformation revert."

There's a flash of...relief? embarrassment? something across their face before they go back to nervous, "Oh, you know where it's from. That makes things easier. And ah, no, dispelling it isn't the problem, I actually changed on purpose this time and I already know the counterspell. I was actually wondering if you know how to modify a transformation."

'Huh, okay then.' "Yeah, I've done that before. Not sure how compatible our magic systems are, but I can at least tell you what works for me. So, what kind of changes are we looking for? Hair color, shoe size, you wanna add wings or a tail?"

"Ah, nothing that drastic, I really just...just want it to feel...more like "me," I guess..." Despite how much taller they are than usual, they quickly curl in on themselves as they say this, suddenly seeming smaller than she's ever seen them.

'Oh...ohhhh.' "This...isn't the first time you've used this form on purpose, is it?"

"...No. I ah, I don't use it very often, there's a lot about it that's honestly a bit much, especially given...well, if you've played the games you probably know about a particular phobia of mine?"

"Yeah...That. That boss fight really hit different after I actually met you."

"About that, I've been using 'they' for you in my head since you got here since I wasn't really sure what was going on. Would you prefer 'she,' or..."

Laharl finally fully relaxes at that, her presence once again filling the room like it usually does, "Yes, please do."

"No problem. Now, to start off, we'll probably want to get you down to your usual age...wait, are you older right now? 'Cause it kind of seems like it, but with how much is different I'm not sure."

She tilts her hand in a 'so-so' gesture, "Kind of? It's-so I'm guessing you know how I got this form the first time?"

"Flonne's angel world flowers, right?"

"Exactly. Now for most of the demons affected it just messed with their internal magic in some way and caused minor physical changes, but I'm half human, so it outright suppressed my demon half. Not enough to interfere with my power level, thankfully, but it made it so I was technically only about forty percent demon. And since humans have far shorter lifespans than demons and my human half specifically came from my mother, the result was me going from a teenage boy to a woman in her early twenties."

"Huh. That's actually kinda neat. And in that case dropping your age is definitely the right starting point. Thankfully I have plenty of experience with that thanks to my Monkey form. So, how you want to start is-"

This goes on for the better part of the evening, and by the time the sun goes down Laharl has a form she can feel much more comfortable in.

After putting the finishing touches on the new and improved Girl Laharl, the demonic Avatar looks out one of the windows, "Oh, I didn't realize how late it was. I should probably be getting back to-" she gets up to leave, only to suddenly feel dizzy and lightheaded, "woah, uh..."

Shantae quickly shoots up and helps her stay steady, "Oh my gosh I am so sorry! I forgot how much of a workout someone's first time messing with transformation magic like that is!"

"It's-I'm fine! Just stood up too fast I think." typical Laharl stubbornness. she really is feeling more like herself, "I can still get home just fiIIIINE!"

Aaand once again Shantae saves her from faceplanting when she stumbles and trips over nothing, "Oh no, I am not letting you try to make a portal back to your castle when you can barely walk! I can call Etna and let her know you're crashing here tonight."

"Fiiiine..." she...is she actually pouting? 'Oh dear mother, sleepy Laharl is adorable!'

After getting laid down on the (actually alarmingly comfortable, like where did she find cushions this soft on her peanuts salary?) couch, she once again drops her usual attitude, looking up at Shantae with completely undisguised affection, "Hey, uh, thanks for...everything you did to help me tonight."

"Anytime." as she grabs a blanket for her guest, she adds "And I do mean that. Anytime you need help, with this or anything else, you can come to me, got it."

"Got it."

"And thank you for trusting me enough to tell me about all this." She crouches down so they'll be at eye level, even if Laharl's are already half-closed, "I know how hard it can be to come out to someone."

"Mmm, 'course I trust you. You're family." And with that she's out like a light.

Shantae...actually chokes up a little at that. With her parents out of the picture since before she can remember, and Scuttle Town being...well, Scuttle Town, she can count on her hands the number of people she'd honestly have called family before all this Meme stuff, especially since Seven Sirens and the other four half-genies hadn't existed yet when the pods dropped, and she knows full well that Laharl's own complicated family-related hangups are far worse. So for her to say that so openly and honestly, even while half asleep...

On some sort of impulse, she leans down and brushes Laharl's hair out of her face gently enough not to wake her, "I swear, I'll do my best to live up to that," With that said, she gets back up, opens her command box...and takes a picture of the sleeping Avatar before sending it to Etna.

I don't know if anyone asked, but what are your headcanons of Engie's hitman adventures?

- Hitman Engie, also known as Agent 30, goes by he/it & is aroace. current status is trapped in the Foundation & coping by dreaming that he's back to its Missions Adventuring.

- UNIVERSE & TIME traveler, local hitman :)

- the SCP Foundation got his ass. it's gonna be stuck there for awhile till there's another installation of the Engie's Adventures Series.

- can only speak in broken sentences. as in. sentence mixing but it's irl. every time someone speaks normally it's like watching someone speak words you can't ever pronounce in your life. not that he minded.

can also do those audio editing that u see happens in gmod videos. can make his voice painfully high-pitched. also can use subtitles if the world he's in allows it.

- demeanor changes in every reality it enters. sometimes it's more goofy, sometimes it's more ruthless, sometimes it's more incompetent, etc. though these are mostly seen in gmod worlds, while sfm ones are more unpredictable.

- gmod & sfm style movement. can noclip through shit if the world is unstable enough. able to bend reality too if he knew how to lol

- Pip-boy is the main source of its time/universe traveling abilities. it is not its only source, however.

it is also used for storage, games, & that of the like. a multi-tool :3

- able to read & write codes, mostly binary but can write other computer stuff too. it likes hackin', although it's unaware that it's even breachin' anything :]

english is hard as FUCK for him to write & can only do them in very, very broken english.

- sees weird shit on a daily basis. it's his normal. it thinking that anything's weird should be considered an achievement.

- obedient as FUCK. especially when a mission isn't given & someone told him to do something.

- all phone rings coming from a phone that has number keys on them (bonus effect if it's blue) are like a Siren's Lullaby to Hitman. if he doesn't answer it right away/very quickly, its need to pick it up will Grow & Grow till he destroys everything in his way to get to it.

- doesn't know its boss. only ever heard his voice, but it doesn't care that much. besides, the Boss is basically the only person he can get into contact with anyways.

- lives in a white void with a small table stand with a blue bulky phone on it. there's no one else there.
