I don't know if anyone is interested, but the Fullmetal Alchemist perfect guide 2 says Hughes worked in the Court Martial Office.

I think that means Armstrong, Ross, and Brosch also work there as we see Armstrong working with Hughes very often both in the manga and in the novels. Also, the two of them go collect Shou Tucker which definitely falls under the duties of the Court Martial Office.

Fun detail the perfect guides also says that while the trials and the judges aren't under the command of the Fuhrer, they have been corrupted and Bradley also controls them.

I want to see Olivier congratulating Alex (probably not directly she would definitely say something nice or hit his shoulder tho)

What about Alphonse reuniting with Ling and the others

I want to know what happened to Roy ! Did he get part of his eyesight restored? I want to see him and Riza figuring things out after what happened to them and after getting their new positions

been thinking abt my fmab hunger games au all day and its so convoluted lmao

So there's three timelines we gotta explain right away

First timeline:

Riza Hawkeye won a la guns (in this au u get weapons and can use alchemy) thus became the victor for her district (like the equivalent of district 12 but i cant be bothered to have 24 ppl in a cast therefore we splitting this as arakawa intended- east district)

Second timeline:

Edward Elric was reaped. Al could not volunteer because he knew that if the capitol (aka central) ppl find out about his body theyd not only punish him but theyd probably also kill ed for comitting the taboo

Now!

It's WINRY who volunteers for some random girl because she is eds mechanic!! And he can't survive out there without her!! She is doing this for you Ed!

Riza is their haymitch. Roy Mustang, exists in this au but I'm torn between two routes for him

He's like a Gale character for Riza but the reason why he didn't volunteer to be alongside Riza for her HG was because he was too old by that point. Riza was like 18 when she got reaped.

Roy Mustang is a capitol boy who is the main schmoozing bitch that gets riza all her sponsors because that woman has 0 rizz. Effie but a man whore.

Ed and Winry win much alike Katniss and Peeta do in the first HG. I don't care for this. My fic would start with the 2nd quarter quell when all of the previous winners gotta fight.

Third timeline:

Winry gets chosen for the 75th HG. Riza steps up for her. They know she won't be this lucky again how she was last time.

Ed is the only East District male tribute.

Reason why riza stepped up is because these hunger games are going to be a bloodbath.

Olivier and Alex Armstrong will he competing. And they're careerists. (See this is where it gets kinda weird how to plan because if I have Central be capitol then that means we can't have Armstrong in this but which district would I put them in if I can't have this- lmao Olivier and Miles as North District tributes maybe - Miles may have volunteered for Alex because Alex came out of his HG completely traumatised (much alike in ishval))

Comanche and Izumi from the south district (also careerists or just built like that lmao)

And that just leaves us with the West District

This random boy gets reaped but oh! Oh! Don't worry - because there's someone who REALLY wants back in that arena! The one and only Crimson Lotus (that man would RELISH in all of the fanfare and the centre of attention he'd play the game very well and would always be like: no fair, why are we doing this w kids we should invent a new hg for us :/ (lmaooo a sponsor sent him a ph stone during his initial hg could u believe that and then he went ham thatd be so funny honestly)

Anyway Sheska is the female tribute because plot reasons.

Ishval is its own district let's say and we get Scar (volunteered for his brother in his first games and now is the only male tribute from the Victors)

I guess an OC there aren't a lot of female characters to choose from.

Anyway I love my pandemonium *kicks legs* it'd be so fucked up especially because I have ideas how to nerf the alchemists to make them more equal with the regulars when they're running for that cornucopia.

Why Alex Armstrong is a coward

Oh god, It hurts to write that sentence. I will start this by clarifying that this is NOT an Armstrong bashing post. He's one of my favorite characters. That being said, the characters of FMA have shades of gray, and Alex Armstrong is not an exception to this. Despite this I haven't encountered any discussions about the controversial side of his character.

That's why I decided to write this.

I think we all can agree that Alex is one of, if not the kindest character in the series. I also think we all agree that him refusing to play a part in the Ishvalan genocide was righteous. Where I disagree, with what might be the majority, is whether that action alone makes him a good person.

The truth is that Alex left the war not because he's a better man than the State Alchemists that stayed behind. He left because he COULD, and THAT is a privilege that probably nobody else in the battlefield had.

Think about it. Alex deserted a war. He defied direct orders from the Fuhrer, and he wasn't dishonorably discharged or even demoted. Why? Because he's an Armstrong. His family is rich and powerful, having served in the military as Generals for seemingly generations. He's as close to royalty as you can get in a Military State, and that status is what allowed him to leave the war pretty much unscathed.

That wasn't an option for the soldiers who, had they defied orders, would have been branded as traitors to a State that had absolute power. Had Roy, for example, turned his back to the war he would have lost his rank, his state watch, and any chance to influence the country in any meaningful way. He would've ended up either a rebel like Isaac McDougal — and very likely die without achieving anything — or a depressed old man like Marcoh. That's assuming they'd let him walk away without executing or imprisoning him for the rest of his — probably short — life.

Yes, Alex's actions were righteous, but also born from a position of privilege that no one else had. However, that doesn't make him a coward. What makes him one is what he did after leaving the war… which is nothing.

Alex could have used his family's power to try to change the system that had failed him and so many others. Instead he turned away from his own convictions and accepted his place within the military, fading to the background, never to rise through the ranks, without goals or ambition. Compared to Roy's own struggle to change the system, Alex's actions could be described as self-serving. The only person he ended up helping by leaving the war was himself. This is why, despite the fact that he refused to kill Ishvalans, I wouldn't call Alex Armstrong a better man than Roy Mustang, or Isaac McDougal, or Tim Marcoh, or any other soldier that struggled against the system.

And that's fine!

Not everyone is meant to lead a rebellion. Not everyone has the strength to change the world. That doesn't make Alex a bad person, he's not, but it does make him the coward Olivier says he is.

Major General Olivier Mira Armstrong

My latest custom doll is complete! And this time, it is NOT my doll! :D

I was commissioned to make this doll by a great friend, the same friend who made the clay Kirara figures to go with my custom Inuyasha dolls (see them here). Her bestie is a huge fan of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and the two were talking about how there really isn’t a lot of merchandise focused on Olivier, sister of Alex Armstrong. So my friend asked if I’d be willing to attempt a commission of a doll of her similar to my Inuyasha dolls, while she would make Alex out of sculpting clay (totally necessary with his giant muscles lol). I said I’d give it a try!

This was completely new territory for me because A) this is a character/series I’m not familiar with, and B) this was my very first full reroot all by myself. I’m proud of myself for pulling it off!

After quite some time putting this all together, what with commissioning the outfits (both Olivier and Alex would need matching ones), doing the reroot myself (OMG yes, I did it!!!), painting the face (I was going to go over the original factory paint like I usually do, but I wound up completely redoing the eyes!!!), and making various little props like the medals, boots, and the tops of the boots, she is ready at last!

I present to you Major General Olivier Mira Armstrong! Fun fact: My friend actually made the sword, and she took pictures of it and sent them to me, and I Photoshopped them in LOL. We live in different states, so this was the best I could do! :D Bet you couldn’t tell, could ya? ;)
