so as a former employee of RMS Titanic Inc, I have some thoughts I need to get out about this whole current situation, or I will literally explode.

for context, I worked for RMST Inc. for a year and a half as a tour guide and artifact specialist. The company owns the salvage rights to the wreck site, and partners with Oceangate and other companies to retrieve artifacts. the artifacts are used for educational purposes only, in the museum that I worked at, although they weren’t above selling little bits of coal from the Titanic in stupid little tchotchkes like snowglobes and hourglasses.

i dedicated so much of my life and passion to that company and that museum and was treated like absolute dirt lol. and I didn’t even get the worst of it, I had friends and coworkers whose safety and wellbeing was consistently disregarded for the sake of profit, fighting desperately for corporate to stop pretending to care about the legacy of Titanic when all they really cared about was making money

so despite my initial shock at reading about what was going on with the missing submersible, I can’t say I’m surprised. This is what fucking happens when you cut corners and put profit over everything else. If only there was some big historical event that we could look to that would show us just exactly how dangerous that can be...  oh wait.

Jack Thayer, who was 17 when he survived Titanic, said that “the world woke up on April 15, 1912″, which pretty much sums up how SURE people were in 1912 that they would never make those same mistakes again. They realized had gotten complacent and swore things would be different. They enacted safety laws, pointed fingers at survivors, created conspiracy theories to try to explain what happened, all out of fear of it happening again. And yet, history always repeats itself

and now people are fucking OBSESSED with the Titanic, they find it fascinating,  they won’t fucking leave it alone, and the company I worked for, and Oceangate, and others, capitalize on that because they’re greedy and want to make money off of it. all they care about is how to profit off of it. they PRETEND to care about Titanic but they don’t. They never did.

I also actually have a personal connection to one of the five members of the team in the submersible. I met P.H. Nargeolet at the event our museum did commemorating the 110th anniversary of the sinking, I spoke to him and heard firsthand some of his accounts of dives to the wreck site, I even took a picture with him. He cared, he cared so much about Titanic and its legacy, and so do I and so did so many of my friends I worked with. The company we worked for took advantage of our caring, it took advantage of how passionate we were about it in order to line its executives’ fucking pocket

I’m horrified, I’m devastated, I’m vindicated.

on the one hand, I hope this ruins them. i want to watch the company die. there’s a satisfaction in that. but the shitty thing is how much suffering has to happen for things to change. i just wish good people didn’t have to die to make change happen. I wish people cared first, before tragedy strikes. I wish our world wasn’t so fucked up and shit like this didn’t happen. But it did. And it does. And money won’t save any of those people any more than it saved John Jacob Astor or Benjamin Guggenheim, or any of the other rich greedy assholes who died on Titanic. I’m not celebrating their deaths. But I won’t ever forget who suffers the most. The coal trimmers and the stewards and the minimum wage guest service associates at the museum I worked at.

I’m glad I don’t work there anymore. But some of my best friends still do. And I don’t want them to suffer more because of this. All I can hope is that it enacts meaningful change that actually lasts. But I know that’s just wishful thinking.

"FAITH" - a song by ALI written about Getou Suguru

ALI's singer Leo, the band behind Lost in Paradise (JJK ss1's ED), had tweeted once about how much he loves Getou and made a song for him during JJK ss1's airing

I really love Getou [...] I made this with the image of Getou in mind

(fyi: Getou in JPese literally translates as "summer oil")

The song mentioned is a "coupling" song (also known as a sidetrack) to his album Lost In Paradise, and the title is "Faith". The people mentioned in his tweet is also mentioned in the song title.

And wow does that song tell you so much about Geto Suguru.

Using gg translate, let's find out some part of the lyrics because it's making me FEEL (and keep in mind that this song is written about Getou):

I have??? no idea what to think when I read this because who did Getou meet at the end????

And this part, I can't help but be reminded to Gojou and Getou's encounter in JJK0 because though being an enemy, Gojou keeps on dragging out Getou's execution, even though he can easily do it himself. And Getou knows that. He knows Gojou held back in the past and is holding back still, so he took his move to end it once and for all. So it doesn't have to drag on past those 10 years.

This can be interpret in different ways I think?? i thought about Gojou and I also thought about the people Getou saved, who had been being mistreated and tortured. He's willing to go against the world to save them and that's what he did.

I wish I can understand more with all these imageries... about the red sky painted blue, which is probably related to the sunrise in the next sentence. But the sunrise has been sort of an image of hope and a new better day. So it could mean about a "better future" for the sorcerers, one that both of them are pursuing, albeit in different approaches.

this part kinda reminds me so much of Getou :') how he kept going with his crazy ideals and didn't give up till the end. Even though it's a result of his twisted mind, twisted love and care for fellow sorcerers. It is why his name is like that - "summer oil" - burning passionate during summer.

Ahhhh.... this part.... that's what he is right now, being used by Kenjaku, and his conciousness trapped inside like a cage... :((( And "holding a poisoned apple" is like holding that trick to push Gojou into the trap...

This sentence shocks me the most. Now i know Leo wrote the song for Getou during ss1 airing and can't possibly know the current events in the manga. But be what it may... it's like a prophecy. How Getou's death anniversary is such an important milestone of the manga. And "blamed for a mistake in justice"?? Some people might argue, but this is Leo writing about Getou, and he obviously has some type of opinion about him, and it's different from general readers.

Sorry I keep relating this to Gojou but I can't help it... because Gojou is the one who set the final "showdown" date because he doesn't want Getou to have 2 death anniversaries.

In the end, I love how much love Getou receives from Japanese pp. From Leo, and he is Bleach's author Tite's favorite character in JJK too. Because they're so easy to sympathize to them, his breakdown is all too real. And having a whole song dedicated to him is an honor indeed :')

This has been a really good PSH year :) We made it through February and I fulfilled a promise I made to myself a year before—in March, I ran the NYC marathon in Phil’s memory. He was with me every step, both figuratively and literally—his initials on my sneakers, looking down to see the name Willy (Loman?) carved into the pavement.

Over the summer, my aunt sent me a photo of myself at Disney World as a child and I realized I’d seen a photo of Phil at the same age, in the same exact spot. One of my favorite serendipities of the year—it’s nice to think we’ve always been connected in silly little ways.

In June, I visited Phil’s hometown of Rochester for the first time to see the new PSH statue and attend a screening of Owning Mahowny. One of the best experiences of my life. Tearing up just thinking about it because I can’t remember a time when I’ve been happier. I met Phil’s mom and sister and got to share what he’s meant to me, how he’s saved and changed my life. It was everything I could’ve hoped for and it only made me love him more, only made his loss harder to fathom.

Maybe it’s been noticeable and maybe it hasn’t, but the last few weeks I haven’t been as active here. I could give a few different answers, but I think the real reason is how scared I am of the upcoming 10th anniversary of his death. I may not be posting but I’m certainly thinking and feeling a lot. For some reason, being a decade away from Phil’s life—that specific milestone, a decade—is a very overwhelming and upsetting thought and excruciatingly painful. I’m having some trouble wrapping my mind around it, so I’ve been trying to avoid it instead. That only makes it more painful when I do come back around. It’s been a nasty cycle.

I don’t really have a neat tidy resolution to this. It’s the last day of 2023, 2024 is about to begin. I keep calling it 2014. That damn year has represented so much pain for so long and I’m frightened of going through it again. Many, many more people will be remembering Phil this anniversary, which is touching and wonderful to see, but also hurts in such an… ineffable way. The sudden intense emotional outburst, the way it vanishes the next day or week.

A few weeks ago on a run I had the realization that it’s always possible to make new memories. Phil’s death and absence are very real, but so is the way he’s still with everyone who still loves him. I look back at this year and he’s part of the happiest moments. I’ll never forget running through Times Square with his picture in my pocket or meeting Jess in person to watch Synecdoche or his family’s warmth and kindness in ROC or the feeling I got on Christmas morning, talking to him in the woods after my run, the sense of peace that washed over me, knowing we’ll always be tied together.

And next year, I’m running the NYC full marathon, once again in Phil’s memory. More memories to be had, even after a decade, even though the grief still feels like it’s ripping me in half as I type this.

I love you, Phil. More than either of us know. Happy new year, my beautiful friend ❤️

Drew this as both a (belated) 18th anniversary to Super Princess Peach (damn, I can’t believe this game is the same age as me 💀), and as a (also belated) birthday gift for one of my buddies from DeviantArt, @therosypinkprincess .

We both really like Peach, so I felt like drawing her a sweet little present. I suggest you check out her art if you have the time, it’s absolutely beautiful and so pretty 💖💕

I wanted to start this before October 20th rolled around, which was the day Super Princess Peach first dropped in Japan (and coincidentally the same day Super Mario Wonder also dropped), but I was starting to get a little burned out after trying to complete a bunch of Spooktober and Blacktober art, so I had to put it on hold. Fast forward to a couple of days ago, I finally had the motivation to continue the art, with a few changes.

I love Super Princess Peach. It’s one of my favorite Nintendo DS games, and I love that Nintendo finally realized that it was time to give Peachy some justice by letting her go on a solo adventure. This time she got to save the day all by herself, and also rescued her mans this time.

Games like this, the Smash Bros. series, Mario + Rabbids, SMB2, and others prove that Peach is more than just a pretty-faced damsel, and is far from a “dumb blonde”, or an, “airhead”. She doesn’t always get kidnapped and is clearly capable of defending and taking care of herself and uses her hyper-feminity to kick ass.

It’s perfectly a-okay if you prefer other Mario ladies over her, but it bugs me so much that she’s so often just categorized as only a damsel because she’s girly, kind, empathetic, and soft-spoken.

Also greatly annoys me how often in stuff like fanart, fanfiction, and animations, she’s always made a punching bag, demonized, or made weaker to make the other ladies look better in comparison. All of that is just no 😃

And regarding Super Princess Peach, I never understood the whole, “sexist” accusations that people were calling the game all because Peach had different emotions in the game. She ain’t the only one who uses her emotions, the rest of the cast has different emotions too, but unlike them, Peach can actually control hers. So, all in all, I just personally find the whole, “sexist” claim kinda goofy ngl

Honestly speaking, I only have one gripe with this game. I wished that they did a little more with my boy Perry’s backstory, because it sadly didn’t go anywhere, and it hints that his kidnapper might be at large. Other than that, the game is still pretty solid, and it definitely holds up. Especially the music, it’s got a couple of bangers.

As you’ve guessed by the title, I wanted to go for a more Y2K feel not just aesthetic-wise, but also fashion-wise. I went on Google, and searched for a bunch of outfits from 2005, the year SPP came out. I went with this outfit I found on Google, and since it had pink in it, I definitely knew that it would be perfect for Peach. There’s also this 2005 Fashion Fever Barbie that also inspired this outfit.

And speaking of which, at the time of sketching the art, I was also watching some Y2K stuff that I grew up with to get me in the mood, and that included some CGI Barbie movies (because Barbie is such a movie icon ✨) such as The Barbie Diaries and Fairytopia. There’s also other stuff I watched like Winx Club, Totally Spies, and the Bratz TV Show.

I wanted to put her hair in pigtails, along with giving her peach fruit earrings because, well… that’s literally what she’s named after. Also included a little easter egg reference to her final smash in the Smash Bros. series if you can figure out where it is 👀

I really loved how this art turned out, though I wanted to give Peach the whole, “down-to-earth, wholesome, sweet girl-next-door” type vibes with her new outfit, with a hint of some girly pop. Kinda similar to characters like Lizzie McGuire, Betty Cooper, and Disney ladies such as Snow White and Giselle. I think I succeeded with it, both her and Perry look kawaii af ❤️

And for those of you who can't read Japanese, the text on the left side just reads, "Peach and Perry-chan!". I just put it into Google Translate, and thought that it would go well with the art.

Completely Random Agents of Shield Headcanons (Part 2)

Part 1

Daisy and Daniel's wedding anniversary is July 22nd. The day is the anniversary of Daniel's death in 1955. Daniel was actually the one who suggested that date. Daisy was very reluctant and confused, wondering why in the world he would want to choose his old death date, but Daniel convinced her with "You saved me that day." (Also it's the day 7x09 aired).

Despite the team not being in a formal work setting anymore (or very often), they all still pretty much call May, May, rather than Melinda. Phil is the only one who will call her that on a regular basis, and Mack and Elena will say it sometimes, but Fitzsimmons and Daisy still find it weird since they literally never called her Melinda before. In fact, there was a time when Daisy called her Melinda just to try it out. The two looked at each other, shook their heads, and laughed as they realized how weird it was, so she is just May, and May doesn't mind.

When really happy, Kora's body naturally emits warmth, and when she hugs people, they can feel this warmth radiate from her to them, and everyone pretty much loves it.

Also when Kora came back to 2019 with the team, she took 'Johnson' as her last name. Daisy was the one who suggested it given that Kora had said she actually didn't know what her last name was, so Daisy kinda just said, "You're my sister. Why shouldn't we have the same last name?"

Daisy visits Cal's veterinarian practice on a regular basis. He always has the biggest smile when she comes in, and everyone that works there knows her. Daisy always feels the sadness deep down within her, knowing that he doesn't truly remember their connection, but there are some moments that still make it feel like he's her father like when she first introduced Daniel to him. The happiest moment was when Daisy and Daniel decided it was time to finally adopt a dog, and they adopted a rescue from Cal's practice.

And the dog is either a golden retriever or a german shepherd (I might be biased towards german shepherds as my childhood dog was a german shepherd mix)

Each of the team members who have died at one point has their name on the Wall of Valor the number of times they had died during their seven years together. For example, May has gotten several students ask her, "Professor May, why is your name on the Wall of Valor twice?" This was Mack's idea.

Daisy will still sometimes use 'Skye' as a cover name for undercover work.

Polly Hinton invites May and Daisy to many of Robin's school functions (award ceremonies, holiday performances, festival nights, art shows, etc), and both of them make it a point to attend every single time. They even attend her high school graduation when that finally rolls around.

The team brought back their karaoke nights (it is canon that they had them in s2), and Mack made it a point to make "Don't You (Forget About Me)" a song they have to do every single time.

Alya's first word was 100% "Enoch", and Fitz is still pissed about it.

When/If the team starts having kids (excluding Alya), Mack and Elena are the first ones to have a kid (after already adopting Flint).

At some point, probably between seasons 1 and 2, Daisy got her GE Degree, and Coulson threw her a small party with the team and some of the new agents when she completed it.

This is more of a speculation than a headcanon, but what if Deke is not Alya's child? What if his mother is actually another daughter of Fitzsimmons? OR because the timeline changed, he may not even exist in the team's timeline at all anymore. Like Alya ends up pregnant and she actually has a girl, and Fitzsimmons are just like "Wait, what?" OR They have a son who has a son, and as the kid grows up, Fitzsimmons start to notice similarities and just go "Oh my god."

Coulson has taken all of the team's kids on joyrides in Lola at one point or another. Daniel nearly had a panic attack when he saw his and Daisy's tiny daughter in the passenger seat as Lola flew through the air.

Joey and Elena have lunch together very often. Mack and Flint tag along pretty often, and when she's free, Daisy is also invited as well and Daniel when he comes into the picture. They all also attend Joey and his boyfriend's wedding.

Daniel gets really into photography. After the typewriter, Daisy's next big gift is a polaroid camera. Eventually, he does own a more modern camera and he does have quite the portfolio on his smartphone, but he just loves his polaroid. He loves taking pictures of architecture and nature, but his favorite subject to photograph is, of course, Daisy. And once they have a kid, the kid is another favorite photography subject of his as they grow up.

One of the first things the team did after returning to 2019 after time traveling was going to a diner since their diner meal in s4 was cut short.

Alya and Davis' son actually become really good friends when they are older. (And if you think about it, Alya is actually older by like 2 or 3 years)

Every family takes turns hosting Christmas. After all the kids are born, May hosting and The Mackenzie-Rodriguez family hosting actually become the most anticipated Christmases

We got another Short Trips for this round. Past Tense focuses on the Doctor visiting historical moments through out Earth’s history. 

The event for this story is a 1981 cricket game between the UK and Australia. During the game, a player named Graham Dilley catches the ball and basically wins the game for the UK.

Or at least that’s what is supposed to happen. Only the Doctor finds out that something has gone wrong.

While visiting the future with Peri and Erimem, the Doctor finds that the world has devolved into a fascist, post-apocalyptic dystopia, overrun with war and pollution. 

He figures out that Graham Dilley is the nexus point where time went off the rails. He drops the ball, literally, and it leads to a civil war within the UK when police fail to stop a riot of butt hurt sports fans, which in turn leads to a world war as many world leaders are killed when a bomb goes off at Prince Charles and Diane’s wedding.   

(Sadly, I fully believe the people of the UK would go to war over fucking cricket before they would fight to overthrow those that led them to Brexit.)

Well, anyways, what caused Graham Dilley to fumble the ball and cause time to go awry?

Why the Doctor himself of course!

Or more specifically Tegan. 

Graham Dilley gets distracted when he sees her standing in the bleachers wearing a mini-skirt.

So it’s up to Peri and  Erimem to stop Tegan from distracting Graham Dilley, while the Doctor avoids running into himself or his past companions. Also Peri and Erimem can’t be seen by the past Doctor or Turlough, nor can they tell Tegan that they are future companions of the Doctor.

Despite the timey-whimey plot, this is at it’s heart a character piece.

Most of the story is just Peri and Erimem goofing off and being the teenage girls that they are. (And for those that don’t know, Erimem is a former Egyptian pharaoh who travels with Five and Peri in the extended AU.)

They tease the Doctor relentlessly, gossip behind poor Turlough’s back, befriend Tegan by talking about shoes, and at the end go on a drinking binge complete with ‘munchies’, much to the Doctor’s disapproval.

And can I just say, I love the idea of Peri and Tegan being besties. Like this story just makes me wish that they got to travel together.

There’s also a pathos here, as the Doctor reflects on his past with Tegan, and how they parted on bad terms. It’s hurts him in a way that most companions’ goodbyes don’t, because he knows that on at least some level it’s his fault. 

It’s rather poetic now that we’ve got Power of the Doctor to bring closure to this plot point.

So in conclusion, this is a really strong Short Trip. I don’t know if it’s the best one we’ve covered so far, but it’s high up there. I fully recommend it.

Kinda piggy backin off of your thought cause t's really interestin to me. I remember a lil while back I'd align a lot more with the uh younger version of one of my kintypes but with time it's kinda shifted? idk augh I'm just more prone to reminiscing abt stuff that's more related to source which happened when I was older.

Just in general I've been thnking abt how like almost all of my kintypes are older than me rn. Feels weird tbh always thinkin I'm older than I am, but eh t's probably just a me skill issue on top of my habit of being old men in terms of kin stuff. Man after reading the previous ask i just wanted to commiserate a bit.

Even though lukerosa is my otp since launch, i’ve always been most charmed by artem, who was so awkward and sincere and sweet. I adore how supportive artem and rosa have been of each other from the very beginning and in any version of events i like to imagine that they grow to become close friends and partners-in-crime-fighting. Their immense mutual respect and admiration is just a great foundation for a relationship.

Now, I have more of an attachment to the pre-1st anniv cards because i’m a sucker for mutual pining, but i’ve enjoyed the post-anniv cards too because it felt like a natural progression of their relationship. To find out that the writing quality for artem’s stories eventually gets worse and worse is very disheartening. When the writing starts out amazing but becomes terrible later on, it is always worse because it feels like a betrayal.

I’m going to keep playing ToT especially since he’s not my only fave, but I really hope the writing gets better again, artem deserves only the best, most tightly-written, and consistent characterisation. And I hope even more that his soon-to-be-announced 3rd anniv card is good — if it can redeem the previous bad cards… well that’s the dream.

as a fellow lukerosa enjoyer (their interactions are always such a treat!!! they're the best genre of childhood friends to lovers due to that eight year time skip and the draaaama that comes with it. i still think about luke's personal story 4 to this day i SWEARRRR), genuinely thank you for the kind words, it really means a lot!! 😭😭

i totally agree with your thoughts on artem's earlier cards, you took the words right out of my mouth :,,) we're also on the exact same wavelength of the pre-1st anniversary cards - they're my absolute most cherished favorites. entwined fate, lost gold, sickness and in health, skadi, railroad, first birthday, aaaa..... some of my absolute favorites.. the original personal stories 1-4 are my favorites across the board too (my favorites definitely being artem's and luke's !!)

gosh yeah i think that's why i'm so upset! i genuinely and truly adore artem as a character, and i adore his older cards. this is to the point where i used all of my saved s-chips on the previous select-an-ssr banner to get his railroad card instead of his second anniversary card!!

to make it even more baffling, i haven't noticed a quality drop like this in the other boys?! if anyone reading is a fan of the other three, feel free to correct me if i'm wrong, but luke, marius, and vyn's cards all stay very consistent personality and plot wise imo. i can't help but wonder if something happened to artem's writing team?? the writing literally feels so different, i can't explain it. it's like. a lack of understanding of his charm. they dont understand why people liked him, or any of the more nuanced aspects to his character and his dynamic with rosa.

i miss them being Best Partners with artem's dry sense of humor and rosa cheering him on over the most mundane of a shit (like posing against a wall HAHA) and them taking their time and artem opening up and becomimg genuine friends who make jokes and tease each other and the strong mutual respect and consent and ;-;;; sniff

it's 5am and i just finished going through every human emotion possible (a.k.a. reading 'wish i never'). you really outdid yourself with this one because i think this is the closest i've ever been to tearing up reading a fic. you just hit the mark so well on that feeling of just loving someone so badly but not being able to have them, for whatever reason. (spoiler alert!) the part where they're both just saying hurtful things to each other because it makes it easier to walk away was so... yeah... y/n hitting a little too close to home with her running away. also, what always impresses me about your writing is how descriptive and vivid it is. your vocabulary is so broad and expressive. you're such a gem of a writer, it's not everyday that i learn a new word from a fic but it was so funny how at one point i had to stop mid-feelings of grief to google "verklempt meaning". i was indeed quite verklempt in that moment ;) p.s. that author's note: i hope you're doing alright now :( sending you warmth and wishes of happiness. i obviously don't know you but you have a beautiful mind and deserve a love as beautiful as the ones you write about (minus the painful parts).

anyways i love expanding people’s vocabulary via my writing because reading is the biggest way that i’ve done the same thing with my own and it’s so fun???????? sorry that’s the Nerd in me. an important part of writing is realizing that the language you use has the power to influence what and how your readers will feel about the scene. so that’s diction, prose, etc. something i think there’s still for improvement in cause sometimes i just be writing to write but if people can enjoy it nonetheless im happy with That Much i need to stop ranting about nothing and get back to 👉🏽 THE POINT.

actually connecting that to the point… it’s literally exactly what heightens all of the tear-jerking impact the story has on a Reader, and im super glad people could read WiN and be like “woah. this kinda hurt.” LIKEEEEE I LOVEEEEE when ppl tell me they actually Felt things bc of me 🥹🥹🥹

SM-HYBE situation: check-up of what’s going on

disclaimer: my readings are just for fun. they might not be accurate because of both changing energies and my interpretation.

i did the reading on both 22nd and 23rd february (2023). the decks i used are frida kahlo’s 110th anniversary one and mystic mondays tarot.

— general check-up on the company: 6 of wands, 8 of swords rx*, knave of wands, ace of wands, 3 of cups, knave of swords, 2 of swords rx, 5 of wands, 6 of pentacles and 7 of wands with ace of pentacles as the bottom card of the deck

generally, SME is having success and victory at least in some aspects. however, it feels like the success they had just recently doesn’t matter because they’ve just released the stress they had before and that seems more important at the moment. the deal about lee sooman’s shares that were already sold to hybe can indicate to the recently released stress they had, or it could be about kakao getting also shares to sm entertainment. hybe and kakao getting shares of big3 company can builds up more and more tension to the nearby future and the 8 of swords rx can shows red flag to the company’s staff. they should save some money though..

SME can possibly change their work habits and it looks like they’re up for some challenges, but they’re in their early stages for it. they’re just thinking of jumping into things without caring, which it’s risky in my opinion. some artists could really travel overseas in the nearly future (in a month-two?). the artists’ tours will be beneficial and successful. there will be many, many activities: fan meetings, releases, tours, even other promotions – it seems that SME will make their artists packed with work, which will be beneficial to the company to the extent that they will celebrate. three of cups could also indicate the company’s celebration after kakao gets like 9% of their shares.

however, SME has to take real action to make this year beneficial. they might plan a lot and it will stick to just planning and won’t do anything. the company has to work HARDER to actually win more money. although scandals could be harder to see in this reading, there might be delays to some activities at its best and they might be shared.

the delays will be because of the shares hybe and kakao have. SME has gained back the stress from the past and because of the circumstances, the company might play safe to the point they find a solution to end the drama between kakao and hybe about some of SME’s shares. two of swords reversed can also indicate the truth being exposed about the games SME has doing, so dodgy deals or corrupt practices may come to light that their audience were not aware of before in that extent. there is absolute CHAOS here, i do sense that page of wands and page of swords are both egoistic people. money loss, people wanting money from the company.. i don’t know if there will be scandal(s) about that but it’s not impossible for this to happen :/

6 of pentacles might actually be one of the companies that got shares recently – hybe or kakao. they seem generous towards SME: they literally invest in them! could be hybe though, but 7 of wands… since it’s about fighting for their belongings (to hold on a position? on someone’s success? on money, power, influence?), the company might do something that isn’t (like) them. they might really feel like a victim, they might’ve decided to play it in that way just to protect themselves.

with the ace of pentacles at the bottom card of the deck, it’s showing that everything will be okay no matter what happens. there is definitely a switch with the company though.

— what are hybe’s intentions for sme: queen of swords, 6 of cups, 9 of cups, 4 of wands, the magician, 9 of pentacles, 2 of cups, the hierophant and 5 of cups rx with the devil as the bottom card

for clarification, there are some cards that fall together (queen of swords and 6 of cups; 9 of cups and 4 of wands; the magician, 9 of pentacles, 4 of cups and the hierophant)

the first 4 cards. even though they fell 2 by 2, i do think they compliment each other well. hybe can actually support sm entertainment in the way they deserve, in a way they should be helped, in a way they’ll work in the best way possible, in a way everything will be fairer than before. with the next 3 cards, i do think the queen of swords is min heejin. although we don’t know her exact date of birth, we all can assume it could be her because she has dark hair and dark eyes, but that’s not the case. with the 6 of cups influencing the past, 9 of cups being as the wish card and 4 of wands being the celebration, even reunion card, i believe her role in the actual intentions of hybe is significant. like, it’s important: she’s their secret weapon. she knows something that can change EVERYTHING to everyone in charge of SME. personally, it gives me “this is what you actually deserve” energy and both her and hybe will use her experience of working for SME. it’s like the karma will come to everyone in SME that did actually wrong with the company. it’s the way she’s educated, it’s her manners, it’s her way of possibly fixing everything that’s fucked up in SME. hybe just wants sme to get back on their feet in the way they actually deserve.

with the devil as the bottom card of the deck, hybe could actually studied sm entertainment, even they watched SME by far. personally, i doubt that’s the actual case. the case here is that hybe takes actual risky decision. it’s shocking, it’s suprising, but hybe might actually feel that they’ll be sabotaged, possibly by kakao or someone else in sm entertainment. hybe might actually defend themselves and we wouldn’t even know it. i personally think they’re better (than kakao).

— what is min heejin’s role about the situation: the lovers, 3 of wands, 5 of pentacles rx, 2 of wands, 4 of wands, the empress, 5 of cups rx, 10 of swords rx and 4 of cups rx with 6 of swords as the bottom card

min heejin knows this is the opponturity she has to take. however, she has to not mix her work life with her personal one. whatever that means to her, it's personal so i don't think i have to introspect that deeper, but i can assume that she is/was close to someone that works/worked for SME and here this is her benefit. her role is to expand hybe adding to her former company she's worked for. she also wants to get sme back on their feet (i think that's genuine), and i wonder what if that's her own fight (that's apart from hybe as a whole, that's only her challenge, that's her actual idea; this's only if that's actually true), and hybe actually supports her (possibly blindly) with whatever she's doing? what's the actual role min heejin has in hybe? what trust do they really have in her? is it really that high?

she might be doubting that desicion though. she is definitely worrying if this route of making SME a subsidary as much as possible is the right one or she should let sme actually bankrupt and to not care about the company at all. i do think she took it personally to some extent because she worked for them for a long time. she'll decide to return back to SME though and accept the circumstances surrounding her former workplace.

i do feel she thinks "this can't get worse, it can't be worse than THAT". the sudden realization she've felt about SME hit her too much :')

with the 6 of swords as the bottom card of the deck, i am sure min heejin working for hybe was the better choice she took years ago. it's just that the past has come back and it feels like it's karmic for min heejin to know the SME staff, to work there...

THEY ARE SO FUCKED UP YOU HAVE NO IDEA. like their intentions are the worst ones??? they look to manipulate SME's team in the best way possible.. or they just told them the truth and said that they want SME to be gone forever. many, many people on kakao want revenge on sm entertainment and they have actual hopes of that becoming reality?

on the other hand, it is obvious that after hybe's sudden appearance, kakao is afraid of them. like really, really afraid. kakao doesn't want to lose any money at all and it looks like they've had saved so little that they've to get and spend more money just to fullfil their plans. they want a piece of a big3 company with as little money as possible, of course they'll be afraid.

kakao isn't thinking realistic. kakao needs to step aside. kakao needs to actually give up on trying to break the big3 apart. kakao needs to change their thoughts, plans and steps to actually help SME. kakao needs to be like hybe.

with the 2 of pentacles as the bottom card of the deck, kakao is trying to minimize the risks. unfortunately for them, they cannot because it isn't depending on them. they aren't ready for managing the k-pop companies right, why they want to try with SME? to bankrupt them!

— why sme doesn’t want hybe? (or at least sme say that): ace of swords, 8 of wands, ace of cups, king of cups, 7 of cups, 4 of cups rx, 5 of cups rx and 3 of swords rx with the chariot as the bottom card

it seems that they haven't thought about it. sme .. they.. it's like after learning that hybe actually have shares of sme, they just went along with this. at first, sme didn't expected that. that's obvious. it happened too fast, possibly without their knoweledge? ace of cups and king of cups are positibe though so i do think their feelings about hybe's action are positive, and 7 of cups fucks everything up.

"but they're lying!" "they're like the rest, kakao is the better option!"

i do think there are either mixed opinions, or sme higher-ups are (trying to?) manipulating their other employees.

they accepted it. they moved on. it's whatever to them. (or are accepting, or will accept it)

they just hope for sme's best. (the chariot as the bottom card)

with this betrayal, or even backstabbing, they want to fuck it up. they really want to bankrupt SME, or at least destabilize them. it looks like it's their nature, because they're so greed for money and bankrupcy you have no idea. justice will come to them though, so their wish.. eventually won't come true as how they please?

6 of cups as the bottom card feels like they've done this before. possibly they've tried to manifest this? or they did successfully ruined some plans for SME in the past?

— what does sme’s artists think of the situation that’s happening? (them as a whole): ace of cups rx, strength, 4 of wands, 3 of swords rx, 10 of cups and devil rx with princess/knave of wands as the bottom card

ps. this is the only question that i did mistakenly with the mystic mondays tarot because i did forgot to use the deck i wanted to use

they seem uninspired, they feel stuck creating. they know they might not get their salaries these months. they have to scrap their actual emotions, they have to work as hard as always to not break their cycle of earning money as much as they can.

the artists in the company are definitely more united than before, at least because of the circumstances. their relationship with each other will be better than before (it seems that they weren’t close as a whole) and it feels that they’re finally free in this aspect. it’s like sme stopped watching them and their friends..

— what do they (the artists) think of hybe?: 10 of wands rx, 9 of swords rx, king of cups, 2 of swords rx, 9 of wands, 10 of pentacles and knave of swords with 6 of cups as the bottom card

i do think there are mixed options about HYBE with the SME artists: one of them probably thinks that they're just like another company, they might overwork them and they could give up about the idol life in the end, some people seem quite positive about it and they really hope that they’ll be treated better, some people feel that this is one of the main challenges and they will be treated the same way as before. another person feels that they’re lying. with the six of which is quite significant part in the reading it seems that min heejin will be the key and they probably have mixed opinions because of her so I don't know, there’s definitely not single opinion. i do feel with the first two cars that there are manipulation from SME to their artists so it’s better to have this in mind.

— what do they think of kakao: king of cups, 10 of swords rx, 5 of cups rx, 4 of cups rx, 6 of swords, knight of swords and knight of cups with knave of swords as the bottom card

to be honest, i think the artists don’t want to talk about it. they might actually have a negative opinion about kakao and there are definitely some people in the reading, so I don’t think these people that are there don’t want to know what they actually think of that compan. i do think in that way because of the five of cups reversed, four of cups reversed and the six of swords, so I do think they just want to move on and it feels like they really don’t want to say at least to me their honest opinion about kakao. the 10 of swords reversed as the only card that seems to have some opinion about it just feels like their opinion about it somehow changed rapidly so this is the only thing I can actually answer, they really seem that they don’t want to talk about it.

— what will be the outcome for sm entertainment?: 10 of cups, judgement, the world, 8 of pentacles, the star, queen of cups and ace of wands with the queen of wands as the bottom card

with the court hybe warned for legal issues against the deal between sm and kakao, i think they’ll really do it, and it looks like kakao will actually lose. the future is in hybe’s side and the deal sme has with kakao from the past just won’t be realised. everything will be back to normal after these legal proceedings that will happen sooner or later. hybe isn’t joking at all, so we have to be ready for all the drama.

Today is the day I finish some outlines I hope. Current progress is something like this (under a readmore to save your dashes):

Swallow the Ground: This is the sequel to Break Open the Sky, and is 90% outlined. I just need to wiggle in a tertiary plot that I'd like to carry into the third story in the series. Outline is sitting around 6,200 words and the story takes place over a full calendar year. The main plot is about Regal, Zelos, Sheena, and Raine trying to compile enough evidence against Sybak to have it shut down, with some help from Kate, Presea, Genis, Viscount Alaric, and a half-elf informant who lived most of their long life in Sybak and has plenty of evidence to spare. The secondary plot is the romance, which focuses most heavily on Raine's struggle as an asexual woman who never really processed her past relationship trauma. Even though Regal told her he didn't care how long it took for them to figure things out/things to progress between them, she still feels pressure to be ready before that one-year anniversary hits. She does a lot of conflating love and sex in the "if I love him enough I should be comfortable having sex with him" sense. As far as a tertiary plot goes, I'm thinking something along the lines of exspheres and the exsphere mines—something to draw Lloyd and Colette into the third story in the series more directly.

Balacruf Mausoleum Fic: The completion status of this one is hard to define. The trauma of the accident is entirely outlined, but this is the kind of story where it's difficult to figure out where to go afterward because there isn't a big catch-all solution to the issues that plague the characters. The outline is about 6,100 words long right now.

I do think any story centering on certain characters in ToS probably tends to struggle with a similar issue to what I'm looking at here, which is more or less difficulty finding a good/believable stopping point because the grind never ends. Think about Lloyd's journey to gather all the exspheres or Zelos's responsibilities in Tethe'alla in the post-game: it feels like there's no stopping point in their lives because the characters will never get a real break. In the case of this story, Raine and Regal pay pretty heavy prices for being in the wrong place at the wrong time when the Balacruf Mausoleum caves in on them. While Raine is at least logically free to do whatever she wants after this is over, Regal has to return to his life in Altamira and all the responsibilities that wait there for him while continuing to deal with his share of the consequences. Like Zelos and Lloyd, there isn't really a point where he gets a break; too many people depend on him.

This also isn't the usual kind of story for me. Sure, I love torturing my blorbos, but I don't usually delve into trauma-bonding or magic, and one of the big plots of this story is centered on the idea of what might happen if Raine severely over-extended herself as a healer as a "last stand" kind of thing and accidentally formed a very literal link/connection with the person whose life she was trying to save. And because I'm writing it, of course, this device skews toward having far more downsides than upsides, and it's almost made worse with the trauma-bonding. So while Raine is logically free to go her own way once the dust settles (so to speak), emotionally it becomes a much more difficult decision for her.

But where does a story like this go, other than smack into the daily grind of the characters as they try to untangle everything? And this, I am finding, is quite difficult to outline.

Declining!Tethe'alla: Character backstories are 90% complete and part of the journey arc is outlined. Sitting at 6,300 words. I don't really know what else to say about this one except that there were at least 10 ways to write any particular character arc, and I went with what seemed most appealing to me/what worked best in tandem with other character arcs.

Here are some small tidbits: Seles is Tethe'alla's Chosen of Regeneration. Zelos is the one tasked to carry on the mana lineage. Both Mylene and Seles's mother (named Carina in this story unless she has an official name) are alive. Sheena is a celebrated hero/summoner. Colette is Sylvarant's Chosen of Mana and Lloyd is her right-hand man/bodyguard/sidekick/bestie. Anna is alive. Regal has been at a human ranch for half his life. Raine and Genis are Sybak's property. Presea's story is similar to the game but somehow 10x worse.

A few characters were aged up for the sake of a better/more interesting/more believable storyline. Several relationships from the canon are also altered or changed in some way (including Raine and Genis's).

Speaking of Raine and Genis, I really wanted to avoid them being in Sybak because I feel like everyone jumps to that, so I toyed with the idea of Raine as a Desian (thanks @ciryze LOL) and while this would grant me some great storyline stuff between my blorbos if they were both at the same ranch (rapport before they meet the others!) I felt like that sort of story had a lot of short-term strength, but not enough staying power for the rest of the tale I wanted to tell. It also makes Genis a tough character to write.

Also, it's probably worth mentioning that I don't think many people actually want to read my take on Raine as a Desian; it wouldn't be that dark or interesting lmao. (I might have a one-shot brewing for this, though.)

Anyway, as it turns out, it's exceedingly difficult to ensure all these characters meet without some outside influence. While it's true that Raine and Genis could meet the Chosen's Group by pure coincidence, I would prefer a story that felt a little more intentional, especially for characters who will matter even more in a story where the Chosen herself is a half-elf. So I went with Sybak. But oops, it's not the Sybak you know and love!

The most difficult part about outlining this story is definitely getting all the characters together in a timely manner and not boring the shit out of my audience. We all played the game, after all, and we know what the Chosen's journey entails and how it should theoretically end. The second most difficult part is purely logistics-related: which human ranch goes where, which grand cardinal oversees it, how to weave in so many varying perspectives into one story, what the fUCK to do with Kratos other than let him show up, do nothing, reveal nothing, then leave, the order of the seals, and so on.

And then the third hardest thing is being nitpicky about character stuff. Let's use Regal for an example. So if he's been at a human ranch for the last 18 years, he should be long dead. He's not, so I had to figure out why. Through pure spite (or any other strong emotion) he doesn't let his exsphere awaken? He's too physically useful to be thrown away? He's not allowed to die too easily because he has to pay for the sins of his family? The Desians are intrigued by his ability to heal and use a little magic even though he reads as human to them? He has elven blood way back in the bloodline and the Desians take a small measure of pity on him? Is it possible he is being used in an experiment like the Angelus Project? Multiple of the above?

And then bigger questions, like which cardinal is most likely to have allowed this to happen? And where should this ranch be located so that the main characters can run into Regal at the right time?

We can't forget the emotional stuff, either! For example, after 18 years of mistreatment in a human ranch and seeing so many humans die at the hands of half-elves, how does Regal react to the literal Chosen being a half-elf? What about Raine and Genis, who were exploited by humans for the last 14 years?

And this isn't even getting into the backstory of his family, or George's role in anything. And this is just Regal! There are a lot of other characters, and I feel exceedingly picky about all of them.

I'm maybe 20% through this outline because there's just so much to consider.

One-night Stand Fic: The happier outline is 1,800 words (while the tragic version is 4,600) but it's maybe only like 30% complete. I think I'm going to go with the happier story because my blorbos need a break and there's something to be said about the consequences of a one-night stand being terrible enough on their own.

Like, imagine having to tell the friend that you banged a couple of months ago on a whim that uhhhh there's a baby now. There's something particularly bad about Raine being the one who has to get up the courage to say something, too; the world is prejudiced and while logically she's certain Regal will take the news in stride/take at least some responsibility, it's still a scary conversation to have.

Like, he is her friend, and she likes him, but this is a life-changing thing to announce. There is no way for her to know with 100% certainty how he will react to it. He has literally all of the power here.

What a terrifying situation to be in. And also to have to sail to Altamira when already suffering morning sickness? Hahaha. RIP.

my initial reaction to the power of the doctor was… well. bloody loving every single minute of it.

now that i’ve had some time to think it all over…

this really did feel like such an excellent send-off for her.

she might well have made my favourite regeneration scene of new!who. the way she was so desperate for more time… but in the end, went into the sunrise with peace and happiness, and no regrets except wanting to know what comes next… and the visuals, on the clifftop with light shooting off in all directions…

the AI hologram!! i love that it was responsive rather than just reeling off the standard “if you’re seeing this, then i’m dead” message.

i love how expressive whittaker is. just. her face is doing so much, all the time, and it’s brilliant.

watching her pilot the tardis with her notes!! and even being able to catch ace as she was plummeting from the top of a building!!

i get the sadness over no thasmin kiss, but i guess. to me it makes sense, in a way. it’d be more painful for them to have some intimacy now when 13 is right on the brink of regenerating. and i’m a sucker for a tragic romance.

especially when new!who has only really seen two doctor/companion couples get romantic kisses in its entire run - 11/river, and 10/astrid. (yes, rose kisses tentoo, but he’s part donna, so i would argue it doesn’t entirely count.)

idk. what i’m trying to say is: romantic associations with the doctor rarely end well, for multiple reasons. that we got explicit confirmation of 13 and yaz’s mutual feelings at all is enough for me.

look, i love 10. he’s my favourite doctor. but i am… conflicted about his return.

for one thing, i simply refuse to refer to him as 14 when that’s supposed to be ncuti gatwa!!

also, 13 leaves full of optimism and excitement, and then the first trailer for next year sounds all gloomy and severe?? i’m not feeling it.

also, i already feel like those specials simply will not compare to POTD. this was THE anniversary special for me, and it wasn’t even really intended as such. this ep had old doctors and companions alike, and so far the 60th is three episodes of… 10 and donna. and that’s it.

some of my bitterness here may well be the fact that i’m already sick and tired of seeing people all ~hooray the boring mediocre woman is gone it’s time for my favourite MAN doctor, yay, doctor who is saved!!~ like. shut the fuck up already.

everything else

no surprise that dan left, but tbh i feel like that could have been reworked into him leaving at the end of the preceding ep. it feels weird having him only at the very beginning and then near the end.

gonna be honest, before this ep i thought kate stewart was a perfectly decent character, but simply didn’t care much about her. but she was excellent in this episode, and now i definitely want to see more of her!!

the group for past companions is such a fantastic idea and i’m amazed it’s not been done before. everything about that bit was perfect. and it was so cool seeing classic companions! even if i didn’t have any real idea who they were!

this episode is gonna be what makes me watch classic who. i tried several years ago but… i got bored halfway through the second episode. keep meaning to go back, but i never have. now i definitely intend to.

on that note, i thought this was a great introduction to ace and tegan. their bits with the AI hologram were very sweet and have left me really wanting to see their classic stories.

i really thought vinder was gonna be the timeless child daddy, and instead. he was just there. he helped yaz, fair enough, but what was he even there for in the first place?? are he, bel and karvanista investigating alien shenanigans too now??

me, pretending to be shocked when graham arrives, despite having known for months about that set photo circulating of him and dan together…

all in all, this was a top-notch episode for me. my only quibbles are with dan’s early exit, and vinder’s presence feeling a bit random… and tennant’s return that may or may not go down well next year. idk. i have faith in rtd to deliver a fantastic era, but i have my doubts as to whether this is the way to kickstart it.

all else aside, jodie whittaker and mandip gill have made one of my favourite tardis teams, and sacha dhawan has cemented his place as my favourite master. and despite most of my actual predictions for this ep being wrong, i was right about this: it was chaotic, it was heartbreaking, and it was wonderful.

Anniversary Steven - One Year Later

Imagine that you’ve been playing Masters since the early days.  I wasn’t, I started less than two months before this event, but imagine you were, and had context for what anniversary events are typically like.  SS Red at the .5 anniversary.  SS Blue and SS Leaf at the first year.  Leon and Champion Iris for 1.5.  All of these anniversaries introduced tremendous new units that came to define the game for a time.  Surely, second year anniversary will do the same!  I mean, look at Lear, and he’s the pre-anniversary bait!  Whatever’s coming up is going to be insane!

And then Anni Steven and Shiny Mega Rayquaza drops, and people lose their minds.  First because of how cool it is, and then because realization sets in.

At the time, the 7500 Master Mode meta focused on one thing: EX Strikers.  The sync nuke was expected to deal enough damage to clear out an entire stage in one shot.  Move damage was often an afterthought.  While it was nice to have, the main focus was on sync nukes that would blast a stage apart.  So you needed high starting offensive stats, and good multipliers.

Anni Steven had none of this.  His base attack is under 300.  In fact, it’s so bad it’s tied with Anni N, who at least has a ton of multipliers.  In contrast, he got...Clear Sync 5 and 9, which sounds like a lot, until you realize he’s operating with Mega Evolution demerits.  I have absolutely seen his sync nuke deal triple-digit damage.  But hey, mega evolution!  That’s worth stats!  What stats does he get upon the coveted Mega Rayquaza transformation?  Speed.  Just speed.  So...okay, maybe his self setup is really good?  Like Anni Lillie’s is good?  Oh, no, sorry, trainer move is just +3 crit, and maybe some speed buffs if he’s already mega evolved, with Supereffective Up Next, which is not saving his sync.  And X Atk is inefficient, and also needs MPR to cap.

Needless to say, people were pissed.  Anni Steven was considered the most painful release the game had ever produced.  He was considered laughably, memetically bad, and jokes are still made about him being the worst Master Fair.  Which...may have been a little unfair.

Sure, his sync is absolute butt, and his mega evolution is essentially worthless.  But Anni Steven is a striker in the sense of move damage.  Dragon Ascent is a fantastic move for base damage, getting a bit of a bonus due to the detrimental effect of lowering both defenses.  Draco Meteor is also pretty strong Dragon-type damage, with similar benefits, due to -2 special attack each use.  Oh, but there’s something important in those: Downside Up inverts debuffs to buffs, and Good Form boosts move damage based on the number of buffs.  This makes his move damage pretty solid, and makes him immune to any kind of debuffing shenanigans foes can throw out.  It also means that he can buff his defenses and special attack pretty reliably.  MGR4 and his naturally good speed make him pretty great for gauge control, which is nice when you have such high costs.  As the final boon, he gets Good Form, which is a limitless multiplier on move damage.  The more buffs he has, the stronger moves become.  It’s in small increments, but it doesn’t cap at 18 buffs like Rising Tide does for sync.  It just keeps going.

His main problems are being way too slow and inconsistent for buffs, and needing literally all of them.  This is hard to do.  On launch, the only option that could potentially help was Winter Rosa.  Who already isn’t that great, and is much more aligned to Hail, but does have effectively +5 to randomized stats each use of trainer move.  She also has X Atk All, which gets his specific need for attack.  But this is obviously wildly inconsistent.

But then, Halloween Caitlin, the savior of Anni Lillie, appeared to save him too.  Attack, speed, defense, and special defense buffs, all potentially to cap, with some added accuracy buffs as well.  Halloween Caitlin and NY!Lillie were the only means of potentially getting every stat boosted.

Unfortunately, it became apparent that this buffing game took forever to accomplish, and often wasn’t worth it.  His move damage was good, sure, but it wasn’t anything mind-blowing, and the amount of setup required often just didn’t make it viable so much as a fun possibility.  Usually, his best pick was Tech Farfetch’d.  An Eggmon.  Who at least kicked off theme skills and could debuff the foe’s defense.  Not exactly groundbreaking.  Or consistent.  I don’t know about all of you, but I’ve found it really hard to get specific eggmons, and that’s with three incubators up and running during egg events.

In the transition to the Gauntlet meta, hopes were high that Anni Steven could stage a comeback.  Debuffs were far more prominent here, and he turned all of that into benefits.  This didn’t last long.  Many of these debuffs involved hitting him, and his base stats were terrible.  Despite buffing his own defenses, he really can’t take hits reliably, especially when the spread moves get guaranteed crit.  He doesn’t have the same surprise bulk as Anni Lillie.  Worse, several stages use Icy Wind as their guaranteed crit spread move, which absolutely annihilates him due to his Ice weakness.  Unfortunately, it seemed that Anni Steven was just a doomed unit.  They wanted to limit Downside Up/Good Form so it wasn’t too overwhelming, but overshot so badly that they made him pretty underwhelming.

Well good news!  It took a long time, but eventually, Anni Steven finally got something, in the form of Anni Skyla and Flying Zone!  This was going to be the combo to end all combos; finally, he’d have his own Zone like Lillie to show off!  Flying Zone really emphasized just how good Anni Steven’s move damage was. I’ve seen values around 19k from one attack.  That is absolutely nothing to sneeze at.  His sync may be a disaster (though I’ve also seen that salvaged by Zone), but Skyla can take over sync duties for him, and produce a fantastic combo that synergizes well.

What I do think is a bit underrated in Anni Skyla for this combo is her potential to debuff offenses of a foe when they’re hit with confuse or trap.  This is, sadly, a 3/5 skill, but the potential to debuff offenses, alongside Anni Steven’s defense buffing, actually does have a chance to help him take hits like he needs, while Mini Potion All helps him stay topped off.  But man, it was just nice to finally have a win.  After all this time, finally, Anni Steven is the top of the Flying DPS metaga-

Hoenn Villain Arc.  This...is really where I think the current bitterness I’m experiencing toward this game started.  Because let’s be honest: Second Anniversary characters did, in fact, get shafted really hard.  They were given fairly experimental and unique options, but time has proven that this was not worth the tradeoff in power they were forced to make.  “But how bad can it really be?” you may be wondering.

Well, aside from SS Steven getting the same Downside Up on a unit with 550+ special attack and having virtually no drawbacks, how about the fact that Zinniquaza, a free unit, has higher Flying damage DPS than him?  How about that damage isn’t even close?  Nearly 1.3 million vs. 950k, according to the charts.  This is where there’s no longer any denying it.  Anni Steven was brutally, unethically shafted.  His damage was so bad a free unit outperformed him.  His tools were so bad that the defense buffs didn’t even save him in Gauntlet.  Anniversary Steven is like the saddest thing I’ve ever seen.  Every time I try to focus on the positives of this man, something else is revealed to be outright better, until at last, we hit rock bottom.  A Master Fair, one of the most elusive types of units in the game, has worse damage output than a free unit.  I really can’t summarize his misfortune any better than that.
