i know people say that oswald could have been a companion, and i agree
but honestly i think this guy and his motives could have carried a major story line in the game, instead of a one off antagonist in the dlc

I need to rant about the Fallout show
Because this is the person I am. Full spoilers, so I’m putting it behind a Keep Reading:
I’m a huge sucker for Fallout (yes even 3&4). And I went into the Fallout show with some… trepidation. Amazon has been a mixed bag on adaptations, we could have been blessed with a Good Omens, or cursed by a Rings of Power. But early buzz and reviews seemed positive, so I slammed the whole thing in one night with my spouse (we were staying at my in-laws house and they have Prime. Time was a factor.)
And y’know? I was really enjoying it! The characters were fun, the plot was engaging enough, and the costumes and visual design were extremely on point. There were some minor lore quibbles to be had: Ghouls needing some kind of medicine to not go feral. Really, more Enclave holdouts? Timeline and date whoopsies. Wait are they in California? Where the hell is the NCR?
I made a face at Shady Sands being bombed and the NCR collapsing. But I wasn’t completely out of the story. Based on what I had seen so far, I thought it was building to a reveal that the Brotherhood had done it. That the more zealous turn they took in Fallout 4, which has clearly carried to how they are portrayed in the show, lead them to bombing the NCR. War never changes, as they say. Maximus even says when asked what happened to Shady Sands: “The same thing that always happens.” Yeah, it leans into Bethesda’s weird desire to keep the Fallout world in a state of perpetual wastelands full of raiders and no civilization, but it wasn’t so terrible that I couldn’t still enjoy the show.
But then.
BUT THEN.
Episode 8, and the reveal of Vault-Tec apparently being the ones who dropped the first bomb in the Great War.
I was surprised to hear that some fans have apparently been debating over who fired first? Some even asked Tim Cain about it?
That’s really odd to me because, in the games, there is already a pretty definitive answer to which side sparked the Great War:
Tumblr media
Who fucking cares?
The world ended. What does it matter who shot first?
There is no China, no United States, no communists or capitalists left to fight about it.
It's a powerful little bit of lore.
For all the posturing, all the promises from each nation that their way is the true way, all the nationalism, the militarism, and blind loyalty to flags over humanity, they both lost. Everyone lost. All that remains of the ideologies and nations that were so important to the people of 2077 is faint echoes over vast expanses of radioactive ash.
Who started the end?
No one knows. No one cares.
It only matters that their conflict was so bitter, so all-consuming, that one of them dropped their bombs, and the other dropped theirs in return.
The truest legacy of the old world is the devastation left by their final, most horrific war.
Can we do better?
Then the show says "Nah, Vault-Tec did it. It's not a commentary on human nature and the futility of self-destructive conflict, it was actually these guys, these mustache twirling villains huddled in a darkened room literally plotting to end the whole world so they can rule what's left."
And I can see the attempt to make this a critique of capitalism. I actually paused the show to praise a bit of writing when Coop is talking with Charlie before the war, when Charlie tells him that the “cattle ranchers are in charge” to illustrate how capitalism and corporations hold too much sway over the government, it felt very in line with how in New Vegas one of the recurring critiques of the NCR is that all the real power is in the hands of the “brahmin barons.” Nice parallel, spot on!
But “we’ll set off total thermonuclear war so we can rule the ashes and have a True Monopoly” isn’t capitalism. It’s just dumb “we’re the baddies” writing.
And then Shady Sands was also Vault-Tec?! Forget any meaning in the NCR falling to the same corruption and/or factional fighting that consumed the old world, they were literally just bombed by the evil shadow conspiracy that apparently also killed the old world. Hank gives this speech about factions fighting and the futility of it all while we see the Brotherhood fighting Moldaver’s NCR remnant, and like, no! You can’t say that when you’ve made it so neither the old world or the NCR fell to war with another faction! It was you! You and your band of cryogenic supervillains!
I don't care that they changed it. Timelines and dates and little retcons don’t bother me all that much. I care that they changed it to something so much worse.

sun u should explain the ghost band lore bc i’m interested but no nothing about them
oki oki so ani this might take a while bc i went crazy explaining and it might be too long so uhm find the tl;dr at the end 😭
i swooned when i saw u ask this bc!!! mwah mwah <333 idk it made me so giddy teehee <33 also! this is what i know so far so there might be lapses in my explanation hhh
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the band ghost or ghost (or ‘ghost bc’)
- they are are theatrical rock band mostly known for their satirical approach to organized religion (roman catholicism); they have a parody of the ministry (from the papacy down to the clergymen [dubbed as brothers/sisters of sins]). there are criticism that they are satanic and, well, that is their lore.
the current singer is called papa emeritus iv
- papa iv is endearingly called popia because before being papa, he was known as cardinal copia. he succeeded the previous three papa emeritus (primo, secondo, terzo) after the three have been killed. he also inherited the ghouls (specifically terzo’s ghouls).
- primo, secondo, terzo, copia are all acted by the same guy (tobias forge)! the lore is that they’re all brothers, fathered by papa nihil, but that copia wasn’t recognized as his son until later on when the three papas were killed. the ones who organized the deaths of the previous papas is sister imperator, copia’s mom.
- the papas, in order: primo, secondo, terzo, copia (cardinal), copia (papa)
Tumblr media
nameless ghouls
- they are the people that tobias forge (papa) hires to play live! theyre not a concrete band since these instrumentalists could be/had been replaceable :((
- when ghost debuted, there were only four ghouls: fire, water, earth, quintessence. these titles are reflections of the instruments they play! fire (lead guitar). water (bass guitar). earth (drums). quintessence (rhythm guitar). later a keyboard instrumentalist was added and they were dubbed as the air ghoul.
- as the band grew more popular and more instrumentalists came and went, the fans began naming them. at the top of my head; notable old members include: alpha (fire). omega (quintessence). mist (water). ifrit (fire). zephyr (air).
- i think it was in 2019 when the ghouls were established and no one left (until, that is, june 2023). they were: dewdrop (fire; previously water so he replaced ifrit as lead guitarist). rain (water; bass guitar). aether (quintessence; rhythm guitar). mountain (earth; drums). swiss (multi ghoul - means he is a backup vocals, acoustic guitarist, tambourine). cumulus (air; keyboard and backup vocals). cirrus (air - keyboard and keystar). sunshine (multi; backup vocals).
- nameless ghouls as of july 2023: dewdrop (fire). rain (water). phantom (quintessence - he replaced aether). mountain (earth). swiss (multi). cumulus (air). cirrus (air). aurora (multi - she replaced sunshine).
- fave: nameless ghouls aren’t all just men!! cirrus, cumulus, sunshine, and aurora are ghoulettes
- i finally know who is who when they don’t have their instruments 😭
- they all wear the same thing for anonymity, although fans know who they are unmasked!
other fun info
- a ghost concert is called ‘ritual’
- they have this episodes (??) of more lore called ‘chapters’
- there are talks that copia will be replaced by a new papa but copia’s goodbye had been too quiet and peaceful so fans speculate that tobias forge is gonna do smthn else?
- papa nihil plays the saxophone!
Tumblr media
tl;dr - tobias forge is a huge fucking nerd who made a whole satanic ministry and band for flare!

Just finished binging the Fallout tv show and 🤯 I've got so many thoughts running through this little brain of mine. So here's a very long rant no one asked for. Maybe I'll make a more digestible version later. Obviously SPOILERS AHEAD!!! Be warned!
First off - the lore. So many interesting things were added into the lore by this show that I find so fascinating, as well as theories I've had that were touched upon. All of which makes this very exciting but also leaves me DESPERATE for season two. The main thing that has really stuck with me is the confirmation that Vault-Tec were the ones to drop the bombs like hello??? I've always had an inkling ever since I started delving into fallout lore a good year or two ago that they were behind everything, but finally having it confirmed is so fun. Of course, some people out there are going to be irritated (L take) but this imo will make replays so much more interesting. Same with the addition of ghouls needing medication to keep from becoming feral. Although this begs some questions; what is the medicine? Is it just radaway, or something else entirely? Maybe it's connected to whatever Hancock used to ghoulify himself? Or maybe it's connected to Doctor Barrows' research into ghouls fom Fallout 3? Idk! But I hope it's answered in season 2.
Cooper being the inspiration behind the iconic vault boy mascot absolutely gagged me. It was kinda hinted at even in the beginning at the kids birthday party but I was still surprised. Pleasantly, of course. Other smaller things, like the BOS branding and helmets opening up, among other things, were also fun touches that develop the lore in ways that the games probably never would have. It's small things like this that despite livening up the wasteland, would be unnecessary uses of resources from a game-development standpoint. So I think if season 2 ends up being a banger like season 1, we could see a lot more tiny additions to the lore like this!
Secondly - the characters. I don't even know where to start. They were written so well which is such a critical part of a good series. Lucy, despite everything she goes through, stays true to her morals and by doing so, probably unknowingly, is changing those around her. Despite being stubborn, she's willing to listen and understand other viewpoints and adapt herself. It's so refreshing to see a main female lead who isn't written as either weak and naive or strong and boneheaded; she'd a perfect mix of both. I also appreciate them not making her a total push over, even in the beginning before she is given any reason to change. She grows, but never fails to stay true to herself. Plus the whole sex positive thing is an amazing touch to add as well, especially for a woman.
And while on this topic, Maximus is such a cutie pie. Writing characters that are selflessly aligned can definitely be a hit or miss, and without properly being fleshed out, can be one-dimensional, but I never felt that way with him. Despite trying to help others and be a good person, he still has flaws and does feels selfish things. They took the trope of the knight in shining armor, literally, and gave him actual human characteristics that made him feel real. Underneath his heroic demeanor, he's just a little guy who likes slippers and vault popcorn. Who just wants to be somewhere safe away from war and danger, to be where he can just relax and not have to worry. And his romance arc with Lucy is just way too cute. From the moment they met in Filly I knew something was going to happen and I was so excited when they finally kissed lmao. The sweet, innocent love at first sight thing they have going on is the perfect dichotomy to all the bloodshed and heavy themes going on in the rest of the show.
And finally, Cooper is reviving the inner ghoul lover in me and I cannot complain at all. As a certified Hancock lover, I feel seen ✋ also Walton Goggins is just incredibly fine. But that's besides the point. His character is arguably the best written because despite being an undeniably evil person, he is still likeable. 200 years have turned him into a man who had to lose his humanity to survive, and the pre-war flashbacks being shown through his eyes give him, and the story, so much depth. Despite his ways, you can't help but still feel for him, to still root for him and hope that he still has a little bit of that humanity left within him. Which imo was shown multiple times; for example him not killing Maximus in episode two even though he easily could have done so. And the fact that he's still searching for his family all these years later? When he was asked what has been keeping him going so long, I think they are his reason. Whether he is searching to reunite or to exact revenge on Barb for dropping the bombs while him and Janey were outside idk. But it makes his story all the more heartbreaking. I also love the writing for Norm, Moldaver, Dane, and so many others, but this is already too long ass it is.
Overall, this series was so good and I'll be impatiently awaiting season 2! Some things I'm hoping to see next seasons are super mutants for sure, as well as synths and more of the enclave. I think they went easy this season to test the waters and see just how interested people are. And now that they know people are very interested, I think they'll be more willing to invest a larger budget, and add more. Rant over!

Linguistics post!!
I'm sure it'll come as a surprise to everyone, but just about all my fantasy short stories take place in the same universe (it was inexplicably named Triworld by my younger self, and I haven't seen fit to change it since) across different times! I've been cultivating the little universe since I was 6, and it's basically become a sprawling mess.
Nonetheless, I want to set the lore down in stone, once and for all. And where better to start than with the linguistics?
Now, in modern Triworld, there are 4 main languages. They're generally divided by species, though there is some geopolitical leakage.
Trade-tongue (occasionally known as humani, Lingua Franca of everywhere except the Cescere/Syvniko)
Spirit/Fae (more commonly known as Cescereli)
Angelic/Demonic/Sirenic (generally called Angelic)
Ghoulish (also used by the nearly extinct shifters)
Trade-tongue:
You can operate on the assumption that Trade-tongue will be considered the default. The Humans, and to a lesser extent, the elves, use it exclusively. It is a mish-mash of a variety of different languages, from the days when different tribes worshipped different gods, with a great deal of influence from the now-archaic Elvish tongue. To a non-native speaker it will have a rolling cadence, with rounded words than the a spirit or ghoul would be comfortable with.
Interestingly, it contains some Greek/Latin prefixes in it, as seen by the countries Luxatia and Nyctomachia. (As a writer, it's because younger me loved her fancy language and never saw what a pain it would be for older me. The lore reason is that a Wanderer found his/her way into Triworld and messed up human linguistics in the process)
Cescereli:
Oh dear. Where do I even begin? This is by far the most detailed of my languages, and I would go so far as to call it a conlang. It operates on a character based format, similar to Chinese, and any depictions of Cescereli in my writing will be limited to phonetic transcriptions until I work out how to input made-up symbols into my writing.
Sentence structure is fairly variable, given that it has dozens of dialects, and some linguists have (very hesitantly) suggested that the linguistic drift might be so great that they ought to be considered several languages. The spirits, being a very United people, cannot and will never accept that, and the Fae's pidgin of trade-tongue and Cescereli is remarkably faithful to what is known as the Imperial dialect.
Cescereli uses a great deal of compound words, with each character being seperated by a ' or a -, or nothing at all, depending on the type of character in use. Something that would incorporate all three might be Cescere'nari-ilra, which is what spirits use to refer to mountain elves.
Directly translated, it would mean Our (ces) Mountain (Cere) Long-eared (nari, also a term used to refer to donkeys and rabbits) Mortals (ilra, with ilre being the immortal version). As you can tell, it is my darling. I could write its own post about it, and about the spirits in general)
Now, the elves, being geographically close to the spirit Capital, share quite a bit of vocabulary with the spirits, so spirits often find themselves shocked to hear Cescereli within trade-tongue. Spirits are fiercely protective of their language and insist on speaking it amongst themselves. Any being that wishes to work amongst spirits, or to a lesser extent, Far, has to have at least some modicum of Cescereli proficiency.
To a non-native speaker, it sounds like a teakettle hissing. This has been the source of rage for many spirits.
Angelic:
A dot-based language, it has the greatest tonal variation of any tongue on Triworld. Angelic requires the speaker to transverse as far as three octaves across a single sentence, leading it to be known as song-tongue colloquially.
Few species have the vocal chords to actually pronounce the words, with sirens, angels, demons, and spirits (who refuse to speak it due to an ancient rivalry with the sirens) being the only ones truly able to speak it fluently. The remaining species, when trying to learn Angelic, use a variant known as Lesser Enochian (another remnant of a long-gone Wanderer), which has far less warbling.
It is known as the most beautiful language in existence, and sirens take great pleasure in reciting Angelic poetry to honoured guests. Demons, on the other hand, delight in their dialect, Infernal (which has its own set of sub-dialects), as a method of mocking those without sufficiently high ranges of hearing to catch their words. Angels prefer pretending they do not have to share their language with two other species, and insist their dialect is the only 'true' one.
Ghoulish:
As languages go, Ghoulish is a mess. It has a basis of shifter-speak, with a dash of Cescereli, some elven, a remarkable amount of Goddish, vampiric to taste, and what might actually be the original human tongue, or perhaps ancient ghoulish.
It came of the Lich-Queen of Ceredell (yes, you do note the Cescereli Cere being mixed with the trade-tongue Dell) wanting to cut her ties to humanity. As a tribute to the people who visited her coronation (I'm currently writing this story up now, so spoiler alert for the Lich-Queen!), she named her capital after the spirits, made shifter-tongue the national language, devoted a quarter of every mortal city to the Gods, industrialised the blood-substitute industry for the vampires, and offered free and safe immigration for all the above species.
The result was... This. Ghoulish growls and snaps and whistles and bounces of the walls like it's high on booze-berry. It technically uses the trade-tongue alphabet, but with each letter having indentations and inflections, it might as well be its own language.
Well, that's about it! I'm sorry to anyone who made it this far, that's 5 minutes of your life that you're not getting back. I could talk endlessly on my world building, but I try to obey the principle of Show, not Tell. Next up, Geography!!!

UDLTTOM WORLDBUILDING RAMBBLE: MAGICAL CREATURES & THEIR GROUP NAMES
(pt. 1, pt. 2. pt.3, pt. 4)
This is a random thought, but you know how there are different words for different groups of animals. Like horses are called herds, whales have pods, wolves have packs, crows have murders, etc.
I think it would be interesting if the same could be said for magical creatures in the Harry Potter lore:
Like a group Thestrals I think should be called a Procession (as in funeral procession) because they’re associated with death and loss and watching someone die.
And a group of Phoenixes should be a Kindling because they’re constantly bursting into flames. 😂
Hippogriffs would be called a Pride because they would accept nothing less.
Thunderbirds should be called Derecho (fast moving wind/thunderstorm that occur often in the Great Plains of North America).
Unicorns should be called a Joust because the singular horn looks like jousting stick and males charge each other during mating season. 😂
Dragons would obviously have to be a Hoard.
A Demiguise would have to be called a Hide because they’re so good at disappearing.
And a Niffler has to be called a Robbery 😂 😂
And Trolls would be called a Cesspool because of their smell (which is rude, but very on brand for Wizards)
Boggarts would be a Terror.
Fwoopers (the bird thats song drives people insane) would be called a Babble. And non-stop babbling drives people crazy!
Crups would be a Scrounge because their scavengers and basically just little hyenas that look like Jack Russell terriers and are just as vicious. (Which puts a horrible spin on the Muggle-hunting with Crups if you know anything about how violent hyenas are.)
Basilisks I don’t think can exist in groups because I feel like the second they’d make eye contact they’d just kill each other. So a group of them would be a Boneyard because of the decomposed skeletons.
Runespoors would be called a Fork because of the 3 heads (i.e. 3 prongs) and how they can predict the future and see where there is a Fork in the road of someone’s life.
A Doxy would be part of a Massacre because they swarm like insects and their venom is deadly to any witch or wizard who gets bitten. And a group of Doxies settling in an area would lead to an entire village being wiped out in a mass killing.
And I know in canon a group of Bowtruckles is called a branch. But I propose that Briar would be a better word because if you mess with their tree, they attack you and try to gouge out your eyes just like briars have thorns that cut anyone who gets too close to the plant.
And Dugbogs would be called a Snare because they are ambush hunters & wizards who get to close will have them clamp around their ankle like a bear trap.
Also, I’m going to add that Ghouls would be a Ruckus because they bang on pipes when things are too quiet a group of them would make so much noise it’d sound like your house was being remodeled.
A Glumbumble is a bee-like insect that produces a honey-like substance which causes people who eat it to be lethargic and low-energy so they would be a Gloom.
A Kneazle would be part of a Jury because of their ability to detect and identify suspicious people.
And Grindylows would be a Gallow because they strangle their prey.
These are the only ones I can come up with on the spot. But I want to think about this and come up with a crazy long list. If anyone has any suggestions feel free to reblog this with them! I’ll probably keep adding to this list as I come up with more.

tokyo ghoul dnd club: the first few days (aka, chapter 1 as a campaign)
brainrot in the discord server has evolved into a tumblr post. working with 5e dnd since that's the ruleset i know (sorry 3.5e)
Context
kaneki and hide are first years (the former likes the storytelling aspect, the latter is a supportive friend)
eto is a senior and the dm
rize also shows up for an interest in the "you can be whatever you want!" part. kaneki gets the Instant Crush
Character Creation
they have pre-gen'd characters to try out the game, and eto sets up a oneshot similar to the tg pilot for them to play. it becomes apparent rize antagonizes both eto and the other players. kaneki doesn't see it, but eto and hide start Scheming to kick her out
the game is fun, though! they start making proper characters at level 1. eto expands on the world of the oneshot, creating the baseline for the TG universe.
kaneki mentions wanting to emulate a gregor samsa-type character and eto works with him on it. eto offers the artificial half-ghoul angle and kaneki gets SO excited about it
hide doesn't want to be too involved in the campaign bc he wants to try out other clubs, so he works with eto to keep his character in situations where he'd be ready to jump in at any point. she gives him additional ccg lore to work with.
rize does not consult with eto after the "man-eating monsters" part of the lore hits her brain. makes her own character.
hide stole a peek at her character sheet and told eto. they set up a trap to kill rize's character
Campaign
hide brings pizza, which becomes a longstanding tradition at the club
after helping kaneki get more into character, hide leaves to try out whichever club had his interest that day, leaving kaneki with eto and rize
the date stuff plays out as normal, with rize being eerily cooperative.
rize: i lead kaneki to a dark alleyway, and i ATTACK HIM kaneki: w-what eto: like, with a knife? rize: no, with my KAGUNE! *reveals her level 3 ghoul character sheet in this level 1 campaign (she got bored reading the features beyond level 4 so she didn't go further)* eto, grinning: oh yeah ok roll attack kaneki: WHAT
fortunately, kaneki built a high intelligence/dexterity character, so rize misses the first attack. eto points out various ways for him to run to goad him into fleeing and he doesnt ask questions. rize's confused given how the disengage action works, but she likes the cat and mouse aspect of this part.
kaneki gets really uncomfortable and steals a glance at eto when rize's having too much fun describing how she's going to tear his character apart. eto just winks at him
eto: rize. rize: what eto: roll a dexterity saving throw with disadvantage rize: why eto: do it
rize fails, and is crushed by steel beams. eto gives a very vivid description of how the beams tear through her ghoul body, which is stuck in a cycle of regenerating and breaking apart anew under the weight. it's an agonizing experience (kaneki listens with bated breath. eto could be a writer, he thinks)
rize: what about kaneki?! he's right next to me, and if he fails he gets instantly killed.
kaneki, in a rare display of luck, succeeds. (eto inwardly sighs with relief). rize rage quits and doesn't come back.
the session ends smoothly with kaneki as an artificial half-ghoul like he wanted. he also loses his Instant Crush on rize after that
hide later gives eto a high five for a job well done
---
would love others' thoughts on this. your blorbo at the table or even as a dm (eto prefers the dm seat, but the player perspective is something she can't deny is valuable)
share share share!

phoenix ghoul and dew thoughts pls!
YESSS
fair warning this is a bit all over the place bc i havent gotten all my thoughts in order about phoenix
under read more for nsfw topics and convenience sake
i have to explain phoenix lore in order for this to make Any sense. in my brain phoenix was a sort of “understudy” for lead guitar, rhythm guitar, and bass for ghost. working with the band ghouls and bring able to preform in their play if those three were out for any reason. on top of this, they were also a sort of helper for the band. magically speaking, theyre an extremely strong multi ghoul. i see all the other band ghouls as being magically weak, why make your magically strong ghouls play in a band when they could be working at the clergy? phoenix was chosen to work with the band as a back up player Because of their magical strength though. theyre a strong multighoul and use their powers to help the band ghouls in their daily lives when touring.
ONTO PHOENIX AND FIRE
they’ve always really got along to me. i imagine phoenix was introduced to the band after the prequelle era. band got a lot bigger and was able to put more ghouls into it to keep the rituals running smoothly. they mostly brought them in for fear of rain collapsing on stage but thats a thought for another time. mostly fire was appreciative of another ghoul being able to take his place or another ghouls place if something were to happen. always really liked that safety net in place as it sort of soothed his anxieties.
phoenix definitely shows love via acts of service and that really helped them to grow to love all of the ghouls they work with. fire, notably, was able to see that phoenix was showing love via their helpful acts towards them all. fire made sure to also show phoenix affection in his own way, buying gifts for them at gift shops, leaving notes for them to find on the tour bus when all the others were out, things like that.
phoenix was always a loner before they started working with the band. didnt really have anyone to help them nor to be helped by them. being around all of them helped them grow into a stronger individual, but fire Really helped them gain confidence in themself to be the musician they are today. if not for fire, phoenix would likely preform in a very different way, stagnant and clunky, maybe even preforming from backstage for the fear of not being good enough to be seen on stage.
i also think that phoenix had a sort of kink discover journey when it came to the other ghouls. fire fed into it a lot (i mean. have you seen that video of phoenix straight up sniffing fire??) and helped them break out of that shell they were hiding in

Kinolett entry for the Ballroom Event by @bluerosethornrp ! I'm late since I had some busy last weeks but I still wanted to participate because couples dancing make me go feral 💕
Tumblr media
Pairing: Scarlett/Kino. Kinolett. Summary: Kino got invited to a Ball at the Demon World. It was decided that Scarlett would attend with him, but there is a problem... he has little-to-no experience in Ballroom dancing. Scarlett will gladly teach him all he needs to know to be a great dancer, before her own hidden insecurities flare up when she faces an event full of high-rank demons as a low-rank Ghoul herself... Word count: 5.5k. Warnings?: Long (7 short parts). Lots of fluff. Like one kiss per part. Canon-atypical supportive lovers. Insecurities and vulnerability from both sides. Implied impostor syndrome. Slightly suggestive scene. OC lore. Character growth (?). A/N: It was going to be something short but I got carried away with the idea of Scarlett teaching Kino how to dance (+why she has to) and overall the bonding experience of overcoming Minor Inconveniences™ lmao. Those who aren't too familiarized with Scarlett may find bits of lore regarding her past as a servant and her Ghoul status getting the best of her, but I tried to make it the least ambiguous possible ^^; Hope you enjoy💕
Tumblr media
🎶.
“One, two, three, one, two— No!”
The music stopped again, and with it the barely consistent dance session of the two. Although, at times it seemed like a dance lesson from teacher to student. To an extent, it was.
“You almost step on my foot again,” Scarlett sighed, holding the bridge of her nose with exasperation.
“But I didn’t,” Kino defended himself, also tired of the relentless orders, complaints, more detailed orders, repeat. He threw his head back to stretch his neck, holding his right shoulder to relieve some tension.
“You have been making the same mistake for a while, I can tell you were going to.”
“Maybe my teacher isn’t that good after all…” he mumbled, knowing the risk that it meant.
“Excuse me?” Scarlett glared at him. The harsh, offended look on her face was telling enough that Kino’s words hit where they intended, and Kino’s own growing grin helped the case. Questioning her musical knowledge –either around instruments or ballroom dancing– was something impossible for her to allow or let slide, “...again, from the top. Fix your posture.”
One, two, three, the Waltz began to play once more...
🧧.
It all had begun when Kino received some invitation to a Ball in the Demon World. Excited to have someone to go with this time as a proper attendee, he told Scarlett about it. The Ghoul was thrilled, wondering what to wear, how to arrange her hair, what makeup to use… and it soon became evident that, while Kino was part of the Demon Realm like many others, he hardly got invited to those events. And if he did, it never ended up well.
Maybe that’s why they stopped inviting him.
Scarlett could empathize with that, as she had attended those events as a Maid rather than an attendee. Considering her options, she asked a handful of questions about the events he did attend, and so she discovered Kino lacked skill in dances with a partner the most.
“It can’t be that bad,” she had said to this new information, knowing how he loved to over humble himself, albeit usually too much.
“...it can. I can only learn so much watching tutorials and having no real partner to dance with, you know?”
Admitting a lacking skill was harder than actually failing, there was no doubt in Kino's mind. Maybe that particular situation left in evidence how lonely he was most of his life, something he actively ignored on the daily, which made it worse. It had been a while since he was no longer alone, but that didn’t make it less humiliating to acknowledge.
Therefore, he had decided not to engage in the dancing and have fun with some other activity instead. Knowing that many important members of the Demon World were going to attend and he had no reason –so far– to ruin it, he did want to give a good impression. Or a better one. Especially when he could have someone by his side this time around.
Scarlett, however, had different plans.
🎶.
Back to the dancing lessons, it seemed like she was the one leading the dance all the time, something Kino wasn’t very amused about. He tried to follow the rhythm she marked and the instructions she gave, but it was too much new information too soon. One, two, left, right, forward, backwards, twirl? They never got to the twirl part.
“Slower,” her voice took him out of his mind, “you won’t learn faster if you do this faster, it doesn’t work like that,” he was about to protest with another snarky comment, but she continued, “if you really want to learn, follow my lead for now, okay?”
In the end, he said nothing. He did want to learn, he couldn’t let this be a failure by giving up. It was true that no one would know who taught who or how they learned... They probably wouldn’t even look at him! They never did unless he’d set up a scene, there were more important things to worry about, so, of course—
“Kino, you’re rushing again.”
“Ugh…” he sighed, they both did, “let’s take a break, I’m tired already.”
Scarlett looked at the time, “it’s been a few hours, I believe a break won’t hurt.”
The music was left playing at a lower volume. Kino flopped dramatically on the couch, she watched him mumble in annoyance.
“We still have a few days for you to learn…”
“I wanna learn nooow…” The cushion underneath his face muffled his frustrated whines. Scarlett shook her head, going over to the couch herself to sit down as well, but he occupied all of it. No matter how much she nudged him, he wasn’t moving.
So she sat on his back instead, like he sometimes did, and chuckled when he whined again.
“Haa… I’m tired too. You’re not making this easy…” Quick enough, she shifted positions, in a way that she’d lay flat on top of him. He uncovered his face, resting his head on its side while her own face laid on his shoulder. Kino sighed, deeply, “I won’t give up if you don’t. You will be the fruit of my tutoring, I can’t let that happen!”
“Hm,” the Vampire continued to be upset, “how did you learn this anyway? Was it this tough? No way.”
“Yes,” she closed her eyes, “when you have to teach your Young Lady, you are taught harshly. You either learn... or learn.”
“Well, I don’t have to teach anyone,” he pouted. His frustration knew no limits, he had to fight the urge to ragequit.
However, that silly remark made Scarlett think. It was true, there was no need for such a reckless lesson for him, it just happened to be the only way of learning she knew. “You may be right…” Think, think. She couldn’t make her lesson a videogame, and rushed or inconsistent practice only made everything worse. There had to be something else…
Ping!
“...what was that?”
“A notification,” Kino explained, not moving a muscle, “either my lives are full again, or I can claim my daily reward. I’ll check later. There’s no event today, so—”
Chu.
Scarlett kissed his cheek.
“—!? W-what, why?” Kino got caught off-guard, random kisses were still unexpected the majority of times. He didn’t dislike the feeling, but a ‘because I wanted to’ was hardly an excuse when he was in the middle of answering something she asked.
“A reward,” she said, serious. They made eye-contact, looking for something different on each other’s eyes; Kino tried to understand, while Scarlett tried to send her message across.
None of them got any answer.
“... ... ...huh?” After a while, Kino’s confusion became audible.
“We have this… Event. And you can get Rewards–” Kino had to hold back to not laugh at her poor attempt to make her lessons youth-friendly. Or modern-day-friendly, as none of them were particularly young. She sounded like a robot, but his interest was caught, “I will give you a kiss for every step you learn correctly. The more you accumulate, the better… right? O-or you can get a hug every ten kisses—?”
That was enough for Kino to burst out laughing.
“Hahahahaha!” Scarlett felt her cheeks reddening, did she get that wrong!? At the same time, she couldn’t even get mad when his pout became a laughter, “that was terrible, but nice try. Hahaha~” he took the chance to roll over so he could face her from below, “ahh… you’re so cute when you try to get on with the times.”
“Shut up…” She looked away, her attempt at getting angry completely failed, “I want you to learn too, yes…? You want me to teach you, so I will. Maybe sugar stars are a better reward?”
He chuckled more, his arms coiled around her in a hug, “how about you give me something I can’t get myself?”
Looking at how he leaned in closer for a kiss, Scarlett got the message. She should think about something else entirely, sweets and kisses were easily obtainable, indeed. Especially when asking without words like that seemed to be even easier for her to indulge.
“Well…” Her lips called for his, there was little she could do to deny it. However, one last sane thought crossed her mind and came out as a whisper moments before she’d get lost with him in a kiss, “you can’t seem to level up your dancing skills without me to begin with.”
“...Touché.”
☔.
One, two, three, one, two, three…
The two lovers continued to practice their dance every day. Kino was getting visibly better at it the more they danced around the house; Scarlett changed her approach to something more spontaneous. Music could start playing at any moment and any place, and he would have to earn a reward of his choice. For better or for worse, it worked.
Soon he started to lead more and more, until Scarlett had only a few details to correct that were rather unimportant. They switched waltz pieces to make sure he would follow the steps no matter the music playing. Admittedly, seeing the results of their practice had him in a better mood, and he boosted his knowledge with tutorials on the internet to make sure he’d be the best dancer of them all. Plus, to have his lover indulging him with whatever he asked her to played a big role in that change of attitude.
Nonetheless, the time they spent together learning and dancing put whatever reward he earned in a second place.
Now he wanted to dance everywhere. Not quite to practice, but to show everyone what he could do and how good he was at it. He started choosing when the music began to play, outside, by the window, at the kitchen... Scarlett enjoyed his excitement, not minding his antics most of the time as she eventually learned that it was close to impossible for him to constantly remain proper and well-mannered.
On the afternoon before the event, Scarlett was resting on the couch, rereading the invitation, while Kino looked outside the window at the rainy weather.
The sun was hidden behind the dark clouds as they poured relentlessly on the surroundings. After a while, the redhead joined him by the window, and, for a moment, the rain was all the noise between them, the distant thunders added variety to the otherwise white noise. Scarlett’s head rested on Kino’s shoulder and she half closed her eyes, enjoying his company in peaceful silence. Kino pulled her closer, together they admired the outside world being showered by the sky.
Whenever they found themselves like this, it was a silent agreement to say nothing; no comments, no questions, no pointing out how they simply yearned for the other’s proximity and nothing else.
It was Kino who broke the silence.
“Have you ever danced under the rain?”
Scarlett opened her eyes slowly, not judging the sudden question, but rather analyzing her answer.
“I have,” she whispered, “but… alone.”
The purposeful addition worked like a green light for him, who offered a wide smile before heading out with her.
Cold droplets didn’t take long to soak both dancers; between laughter and shudders from the freezing rain they began their last practice, with only weather and their own voices as the music, much more improvised than technical at all.
In no time it became nothing but an off-beat excuse of a dance, which Scarlett struggled to follow or predict at all, much to Kino’s amusement. He’d make her twirl without any warning, leading every part of that randomized dance, as if it was some sort of payback for when he had to follow instead— but, not quite. Perhaps in the past, that would be something his mind would scheme, and while it was certainly similar, one thing made a big difference: they both were having fun now, together.
Scarlett’s usual need for control and structure got vastly attacked, and it was moments like those where she realized she couldn’t care less. She taught him something useful, and he learned it enough to know how to break its own rules. A win in her book.
In the midst of their little moment, a thunder illuminated the sky before loudly striking, taking both by surprise. Scarlett instinctively looked up, as if she was angry at the sky for ruining their moment. He simply snickered.
“Scared?” He asked, in a tone that could have been a whisper, were they in silence. She only sighed after rolling her eyes, “let’s go back inside, it’s almost time.”
“Right…” even after all they did to the awaited event, she almost didn’t want to go anymore. But then again, because of all the did, she couldn’t step back, “can I have one last thing from you?”
He attracted her body to his, reading her mind, “Oh, I don’t know… can you?”
“Please?” Her soaked face pleaded subtly, and he wished he had his phone to capture that expression. The water had smudged most of her makeup, it was both funny and adorable. And a little scary.
👗.
With nothing else to add, he lifted her up in his arms to grant a wish they happened to share quite often. Her hands cupped his face with adoration, and so they both shared a messy kiss under the rain.
A few hours later, Scarlett found herself in front of the mirror, fixing her earrings. They had taken a bath after coming back inside, and she took a lot of time doing her hair right after. Kino has been ready for while now, and his impatience mixed with his anticipation to show off had him restless.
She was taking too long.
As she gave the final touches to her makeup, Kino made his way into the room, walking over until he has right behind her, both facing the mirror. Scarlett offered a smile when she looked at his reflection, which became a surprised one when he embraced her from behind. Her higher heels made the height difference much smaller, so he had easier access to the crook of her neck to hide his face in.
“What are you doing?” Her soft giggle was hard to hold back, his hair tickled her, “I’m almost done!”
“I’ve waited enough,” using that as all the given warning, he bit down on her neck. The sharp puncture of his fangs triggered a cry from the Ghoul, her body tensing instantly as he held her in place.
“Protocol,” he shrugged, leaving a few kisses on her now reddened skin, “if you get lost they’ll return you to me.”
“W-what now…!?” She managed to say, controlling her breath the best she could until she was released. He hadn’t drunk too much, but the mark was visible, even after he licked off the overflowing blood from the new wound.
“That is not how it works.”
“And I know you won’t get lost anyway,” he simply continued to display his affection. He smiled in secret when he noticed the makeup brush ended up on the floor; he had successfully gotten her attention only for him. Now he had to keep it, “...you can mark me too. I know you want to.”
Something within Scarlett’s insides moved at that suggestion. Of course she wanted to, but when they were supposed to go out shortly…?
“...are you hesitating? Did you actually catch a cold?” Kino’s hand touched her face, in clear satire.
“...Please. You know whatever mark I do to you will heal by the time we get there,” she picked up the brush from the floor, putting it aside and picking up her perfume next, “unlike this one.”
One splash of her citric perfume at each side of her neck, below her ears, and she was finally ready. Kino admired her in silence, but he caught how that expression of hers changed right before his eyes.
“Then make another one,” he suggested, resting both hands on her hips, “and repeat when it happens again. Easy.”
“I’m not trying to make a scandal there…” they both knew how dangerous overfeeding could be. She could easily give a worse reputation to Ghouls than they already had with so little effort.
Besides, she wouldn’t be able to hide her nature as she did in the Human World to begin with, for her eyes and ears would expose her immediately in the Demon World.
Bottom line, if they could hurt her, they would. She could never lower her guard. Despite being aware of how things were different now, it was still a ghost from the past that refused to leave.
Truth be told, some questions and insecurities never left her mind, despite many of her experiences saying otherwise. Demons looking down on her -or him, as her lover– due to her status was certainly possible, hierarchies were all most of them cared about, after all. She could outsmart most people and brush any ill-intentioned comment aside, but little did it matter when they'd poke her confidence wall, easily shattering it to pieces with their clear superiority, because of the tag that her nature carried around.
The redhead Ghoul leaned on her lover, silently asking for comfort.
“You think too much,” he commented as he held her hand and brought it to his lips to kiss her knuckles, “more than any of the airheads attending that party. Focus on me, alright? Let’s just dance.”
She breathed in, taking his scent, the smell of his blood flowing through those veins under the skin of his neck, presented right in front of her. Thinking too much. He was probably right, she had to think more than feel to get where she was. Maybe she should do it less once in a while…
Scarlett nodded before gripping onto him tightly and plunging her fangs into the soft flesh of his neck. She felt his body tensing, letting out grunts between gasps for the sudden action of her own mark being mercilessly bestowed upon him.
🥂.
The night didn’t take long to arrive and send both individuals to the Demon Realm. Scarlett held Kino’s hand tightly, and he hid both their hands inside the large pocket of his coat. He was confident that it would go well, and for once he almost needed to be confident for both of them. He’s got this.
A frilly white shirt showed beneath a long leather coat embracing the frame of the Vampire, with an all-white undone scarf decorating the overview of his attire –while barely hiding a certain bite scar on his neck–, along with a few necklaces and a shiny pair of black trousers. His hair was messy as always, but a good-looking way of messy, adding to the laid-back vibe, to his standards.
The woman by his side shared a similar choice of colors, always letting her vibrant red hair be the protagonist of all her outfits. A sleeveless dress with a black top and a puffy white skirt with black undertones dressed the Ghoul elegantly in tune with her partner. A pair of long black gloves decorated her arms and a plain black choker surrounded her neck, not big enough to fully cover a bite mark left on her skin. She had her hair collected with not many wild hairs poking out, long hours of fixing that issue made sure of it. Despite her subtle makeup, given that the party was being held within the Demon World, the white of her eyes had tainted themselves obsidian in color, and her ears grew pointy the moment they arrived, showcasing the Ghoul nature she couldn’t possibly hide in that place.
Both arrived at the place hand-in-hand. Scarlett looked up at the building, trying to relax while Kino didn’t slow down the pace of his walk. His eyes shone reflecting the multiple lights of the place, a sight that she could catch whenever he looked back at her if she suddenly slowed down. He was excited, undeniably, and she couldn’t help but sigh with tenderness.
Many known and unknown faces filled the main hall and the subtly decorated stairs, the entire building drowned in crowded noise, random chatter and strident laughter, all the demons gathering seemed to be minding their business with those they happened to know.
However, Scarlett’s keen eye didn’t fail to catch eyebrows raising, noses wrinkling, side eyes looking into her direction before going back to gossiping with one another. Even if her scent wasn’t as strong as it could be if she kept living at Rotigenberg, it still was a Ghoul’s scent. Dismal, bitter, obvious.
Maids and butlers walked around serving drinks and snacks to the attendees, and that made everything more painful. Most, if not all, of those servants were Ghouls. To think that if it wasn’t for fate’s wild turn of events, she could still be one of those people... That memory made her heart sink into a void of some unrecognizable feeling.
Her hand squeezed Kino’s, who got himself two glasses of what looked like champagne. He turned to see her, finding an absent-minded girl looking at everything and nothing at the same time.
He flashed both glasses in front of her face to catch her attention, they made a cling sound, “is anyone home?”
The Ghoul blinked, her darkened gaze turned to meet her partner. His expression solemn and calm became her now point of focus, further below was the mark she had made on him, their hands were still intertwined, and he offered a glass to share.
She accepted it, “I apologize.”
“Why are you apologizing?”
Scarlett shrugged, looking away. That wasn’t like her at all, like she forgot how to be herself under that wave of judgmental stares. She wanted to ignore them and tell them off, but that wouldn’t work. If anything, it’d feed their amusement, making it all the more frustrating to deal with the status gap.
“They look at you because you look better than them,” Kino suddenly added, smelling the content of his glass, “and they look at me because they are jealous.”
She couldn’t help but snort, “how can you be so sure of that?”
Kino shrugged this time, bringing his glass between them, “why wouldn’t they be jealous of us?” Scarlett looked away, struggling to believe it, and also frustrated for not doing so, “everyone is underdressed, of course they are jealous of this Prince and his Princess.”
“Stop that…” she couldn’t hide her flushed reaction, her fangs poking out beneath her lips, “you don’t have to do that.”
“I have to because I’m right. They hate us. Try it!”
“Kino, I think you are projecting.”
“They wish they were me,” he continued, “they wonder how I became this lucky…”
Kino was the one looking away now, at the others, at nothing. Most likely projecting, but he wouldn’t know. Ugly thoughts attacked him as harshly and often as they attacked her, although he did a better job –or so he hoped– pretending otherwise.
Red lipstick left a subtle stain on his cheek when the Ghoul gave him a smooch, “that’s enough. I believe you…”
“Cheers, that would certainly make them jealous...” they proceeded to clink their glasses and take a sip, focusing on each other as if the entire place and its people had disappeared.
They shared a knowing glance, both their glasses brought close, “that’s the spirit. Wait until they see us dance! Cheers?”
🩸.
They planned to head to the ballroom, they had intentions to go, the time was right… but something happened in the middle, they momentarily got sidetracked.
An overstressed Scarlett had enough drinks to get tipsy, and soon she began to chew on her lover’s neck to redo her mark. Kino didn’t do much to stop her, in fact, he encouraged her actions thoroughly, which involved a more private space.
Inside a room perhaps half as big as the main ballroom, illuminated only by the dim light coming from a few candles carefully distributed on the walls, soft gasps and muffled moans of delight were the only proof that someone was inside.
Scarlett was sitting on Kino’s lap as they both laid on the floor, after a careless pounce of the hungry Ghoul that made them lose balance; her arms surrounded the Vampire while her fangs were now forcefully attached to the flesh of his shoulder, chewing and sucking the life essence hidden within.
Kino wasn’t a pain-lover, but something about being desired like that made it much more endurable, and the intimacy of bloodsucking drove him crazy. With both hands on the cold floor, supporting his body from behind, he tried to remain relaxed and not make it more painful than it needed to be, he let her taste him, eye-closed, knowing well that people were passing by at all times right behind those closed doors. Part of him wanted them to see how desperately someone needed him, while the other wanted to keep the moment for himself only. Alas, the thrill was there, and he wasn’t afraid to let his voice get a little louder to possibly catch some curious ears from the other side.
“Quiet down,” Scarlett’s voice ordered amongst heavy breaths of her own, tasting the deliciously sweet flavor of his blood, “we’re in public…”
“That’s the best part,” he teased, shifting his vocal expressions closer to her ear, and enjoying the way she shivered from them, “let them know, I don’t care…”
“I do,” she bluntly replied, “I don’t want anyone to see you like this,” she moved away a little. The blood continued to overflow from the multiple bites on his bare skin in a messy display of violent yearn, red droplets traveled down his collarbones and chest, since she had removed his white shirt to avoid staining it. Like that, covered in his blood and her marks, he looked absolutely delicious in her eyes, and he probably knew it.
“Why not…? I’m such a snack~” his sing-song tone challenged, his head thrown back, as if inviting her to continue.
“Because…” Frustrated, Scarlett held up his chin, and her blood-red lips whispered against his mouth, “this sight is something only for myself to see.”
Loving the sudden hitch of his breath, the Ghoul grinned and leaned in for another kiss, taking full advantage of the fact that he couldn’t bite her while she was in that form without consequences, not until they got back to the Human World. For now, Kino was left with a kiss of his own blood, and the knot in his stomach caused by her possessive words.
💃🏻.
Not too long after, when no more noise came from the halls, they stepped out of their hiding place in time to notice that the event had already started. Chopin’s Waltz no. 2 echoed from the ballroom, and Scarlett had no time to process any anxiety as Kino held her hand and ran towards their destination and dragging her with him.
“Ready?” He asked once at the entrance, hardly waiting for an answer, although she nodded anyway.
The place was full of couples circling many areas, dancing together in the entire place. Kino was the first to step inside, taking pride in having arrived late, since many eyes were on them now. Scarlett followed suit, ignoring the rest of the audience and only focusing on how Kino wanted to dance at the very center of the room.
Zigzagging amongst other dancers, it was made evident that he lacked etiquette overall in those events. But it no longer mattered. After finding an empty spot, he left Scarlett’s hand to go for a moment to face her and properly invite her to dance.
“May I have this piece?” One arm behind his back and the other reaching out for her to take her hand, he bent 45 degrees forward when she vividly followed his game, as rushed as it was.
“You may,” Scarlett didn’t hide her amusement, it was the first time she got invited to dance like this, little did it matter how it played out. They positioned themselves as they had practiced, the Ghoul’s hand elegantly laid on the Vampire’s shoulder and the other held his, while his own free hand found its place on her waist. She looked up as if waiting for the exact beat to start, then quickly started marking each beat with her head, mouthing, “lead me?”
Kino’s expression got more serious and determined. He’s got this.
Steady, accelerating, slowing down, following their timeless practice they began to dance and mix with the other dancers while, in their heads, they continued to stand out in the best of ways. They neatly followed the rhythm of the piece, and Scarlett’s happy smile was brighter than the luxurious jewels any other Demon wore. As though music controlled her movements from the inside, it showed how her passion for music brought her utmost joy.
By the time that piece ended, he made her perform a longer twirl, a non-scheduled move that caught her by surprise once she was found back in his arms. Her fingers grasped the fabric of his sleeves, watching, expecting, until he leaned in for an awaited kiss that lasted until the next piece started. After all, he earned it.
💓.
The two continued for as long as they were allowed to. Scarlett only needed the first notes to figure out the piece they were about to dance to next and quickly mark the tempo. Chopin’s Grande Valse Brillante, Tchaikovsky’s Valse Sentimentale, Shostakovich’s Waltz, no. 2… Kino found it amusing how she’d name them before they even started, like she was a fan of all those classical guys. They had actual musicians playing for the event, something that seemed to fill the redhead with more nostalgia and passion for the dance.
After a few pieces that never seemed long enough, the musicians took a break and the attendees could have a snack or a drink if they wished.
Kino didn’t move from the center of the room, however. He remained in place for a little longer, hugging Scarlett and swinging side to side despite having no music.
“I was right,” he whispered after a while, “they are jealous. They better be.”
She simply giggled at the comment, “maybe, but that no longer matters. Did you have fun?”
“I did,” he quickly responded, “...how was it?”
“Excellent,” she left yet another kiss on his cheek, “I have the best dancer with me tonight, I did a wonderful job teaching you~.”
Kino chuckled, “of course. Aren’t I the best learner ever?”
“You certainly are,” she assured, hugging his arm when they separated, as Kino’s chest filled with pride for the acknowledgement.
Before saying anything else, a Maid offered them drinks.
Scarlett locked eyes with the Ghoul maid, both pairs of obsidian glances stared into one another, and she felt as though she was looking into a mirror of the past, with a sole difference…
That Ghoul wanted to say something. She bowed to them after Kino grabbed the drinks, “if I may…” Scarlett’s ears perked up, she made a gesture inviting the maid to keep going, “... to see one of us on the dance floor was... refreshing. I could not take my eyes off you, Young Lady… and Young Master. Excuse my intrusion.”
One more bow, and Scarlett was too shocked to speak. When the Maid turned around, she called her over, “excuse me…!” even though she felt the need to speak, she had no idea what to say now that the Ghoul looked back. She babbled nonsense until one coherent thing came out, “...th… thank you! Keep doing a good job, okay?”
In response, she received a big smile and a nod from the Maid before she continued with her duties.
“Oh~ See? It was good that you’d come with me…,” Kino embraced her from behind, Scarlett continued to stay quiet, “...I don’t think that was jealousy.”
“...it wasn’t,” she whispered. If anything, it felt as though she had inspired someone by putting herself out there, making everything she’d been through worth it in a second. Kino hugged her tighter, making her squeal, “...i-if you do that I’m going to cry, can you hug me later?”
“... …,” he nibbled at her ear, “you won’t cry.”
Whatever his intention was, her eyes became watery regardless, but now a sob came out with a big smile on her lips.
“...no, wait!?” Scarlett giggled when Kino started to panic.
“Ha, I warned you.”
Kino looked everywhere, looking for some distraction to stop the waterfall, quick, “ah! Come here, they have peaches.”
“They do!?” Quite a quick recovery, her gloves gently dried her eyes before they ruined her makeup. Close call, she did not want to cry.
They wandered off to the snack area to take a break from everything that had taken place as of late… and gain some energy before another round of ballroom dance. The night has improved a lot, for both of them.
Kino got approached by others on occasion too, she watched him brag about his outstanding dancing skills while she stuffed her mouth with peach slices. At a terrible timing, he walked over to her.
“Yeah! I came with my beautiful—”
Scarlett covered her peach-filled cheeks as the demons she was introduced to stared in silence. She waved at them, trying to eat faster.
“...girlfriend,” Kino chuckled, then pinched her cheeks, “she likes peaches. Isn’t she cute?”
“Mmmhm!!”
They laughed and teased the two, Scarlett found no malice in that exchange. Or, perhaps, she didn’t care anymore. After eating her peaches, she introduced herself properly, and got more accepted than she expected. She even got to learn that apparently those guys happened to be Kino’s... brothers!?
There was still a lot to be learned...

Hey good sir! I follow you and you seem somewhat hyperfixated on the band Ghost. I'm interested in getting more into them and want to know more about them, could I entice you to maybe infodump to me about them and possibly drop some links of your favourite moments / moments which you think are important to understanding Ghost lore? :3 /nf
...you've doomed yourself
Ok so, I suck ass at infodumping through text but I'll do my best
Ghost is a satanic glam metal/rock band which has some really fun lore and has multiple characters through the years with different lore both canonically and hc/fanon. This is a video I really enjoyed watching that summarizes most of the lore, This is another one but I recommend you watch mvs and the chapters (both found on the Ghost YouTube channel) as well. Now the videos are old so there's new stuff specially regarding the ghouls and what the last chapter was but if you need more info on that you can always check out the tags here and slowly learn how canon and fanon works and what not :]
Anyways, the band is formed by lead singer Copia (papa emeritus lV but we all keep calling him copia which is the characters actual name but irl and out of character his name is Tobias Forge) and the nameless ghouls, the nameless ghouls play the instruments, each one is assigned a different element (fire, water, earth, air, quintessence) which indicates what instrument they play (there's also multi ghouls which are vocals and an instrument)
Now fanon assigned names to each ghoul/ghoulette but canonically they don't have names. You can find who each one is and what their name is with the video and for a more updated one just look up the nameless ghouls tag :]
The nameless ghouls were originally completely anonymous but now a majority of them aren't, it's still costume specially here that if you are mentioning or talking about any of them outside of character/costume to use the tag "unmasked ghoul/ghouls" in case you want to keep the anonymity of the characters, otherwise you can also look up that tag to find out more about the people outside the characters cause they're all incredible artists of their own in case u wanna check out the stuff they themselves make outside of Ghost!
There's a lot of lore that in fanon changes a bit or things are added to them but they mostly keep the same things canon has but it's good to learn the canon lore first before looking at the fanon over here or on Twitter snd stuff.
That's the best I can do cause it's 4:30 am ish and my brain isn't loading and I fear I cannot explain the lore correctly for the life of me jsjsjs but I hope the videos I linked serve well + watch the most recent chapters that have newer lore :3!!!

also, where do you think future dark worlds will be? the more outlandish the better
OOOH. ok so this was actually the last ask i received but it's the easiest one for me to answer so it's coming first
for a total of four remaining chapters (after the dreemurr house), and in no particular order:
the Holidays’ house. the only reason i’d be skeptical of this is because we’re already getting a DW focused on a family home. otherwise i think there are a lot of opportunities there for really interesting storytelling. as a focal point, it could center around the "holidays" (like, fall/winter holiday season) in general, and how that season both serves as a much needed break and recovery time but also brings out and exacerbates familial stress. or it could even just be like... music themed lol. i could see this being a chapter 5/6 location just because of how deep stuff could get as far as info on noelle, dess, the mayor, and their relationships to each other. just really juicy all around IMO
i'm on the fence about the church. on the one hand, i can see why it's interesting to folks as a possibility. on the other hand, it feels a little too... on the nose, i guess, to center a whole DW around explicit Religious Lore revelation and Judeo-Christian Motifs. that's a tricky needle to thread tonally and i could also just see it being deeply unfun for a lot of the target audience, for a lot of reasons. if we get a DW related to the church, i'd expect it to be focused on something other than the church/religion itself, ex. maybe the gang ends up screwing around in the basement and finds a full set of The Lord of the Hammers down there and we get like a Tolkienesque high fantasy that touches in a less heavy-handed way on the requisite motifs of the in-universe religion. the graveyard in particular seems like a perfect spot for some kind of horror-themed location full of ghouls and creepy pizza boxes and stuff (though probably not a whole DW in and of itself). this seems about right for chapter 4 -- a little spookier and darker, reasonably lore-heavy, but still not getting too deep into the stakes of the surface level narrative
the hospital... seems like a reasonable candidate just from the standpoint of story trajectory (ex. it fully makes sense that noelle or any other given holiday might open a fountain in the hospital in an attempt to save rudy). HOWEVER i think the idea of a "hospital"-themed dark world sounds pretty awful, much like the church one but potentially far more insensitive and tonally fraught. which is why i raise to you that the hospital dark world would not focus on the concept of the hospital itself and will instead center around noelle's handheld game system/the Dragon Blazers game while still exploring the themes relevant to her dad's hospitalization and will also be Meta As All Hell. Dark Worlds: It's Literally A Game Within A Game This Time. i peg this for either chapter 5 or 6. maybe 6 for this one, 5 for the Holiday house
chapter 7........... honestly i have no clue. i can see the arguments for both the carnival and the shelter but it's also so far out that i have trouble imagining what either really entails. i also have to wonder how much the narrative might be deviating from the Fountain-of-the-Day structure by chapter 7... i guess at this point i'm mostly in line with the theory that the carnival will constitute the primary DW of the chapter. it seems like that's where everything leads, right? susie's even expressed wanting to bring her darkner buddies to the fair. aside from that -- DW or not, i think the shelter is where the story ends, at least in the "default" ending.
bonus: fully expecting that at some point we're going to see a Neo Dark Fountain and where that leads and i'm hoping desperately that it's fucked up and scary and trippy as hell
all that said i would kill for even a brief foray into an ICE-E's P"E"zza dark world. please toby fox please. even just 10 minutes' worth of it as a joke. i want to see the terrible nightmare that awaits there

🍍🍐
Thank you for asking!
🍍 maybe I’m crazy but I haven’t really read any alternate universes. In the way that they are completely different like in one way or another cools end up on earth and end up serving in the ministry as musicians in ghost. Maybe this is more common if you’re writing or reading about the Papas but that hasn’t been my cup of tea. I understand that there’s a lot of vampire Copia fic out there. I feel like ghoul lore is generally very similar. I will say, though that in the giant beast of a fact that I’m writing it is very different. That leads me to question number two.
🍐 one HC that I hate is that cools are summoned, basically enslaved, told what to do, where to be, even forced to change elements through a painful and traumatizing ritual. I absolutely do not HC this. To me being chosen to be a band ghoul is an honor. I think that ghouls would come by choice. They’re often portrayed is very powerful, so I don’t understand how humans could force them. Also, I find that people draw too many parallels between Satanism and Christianity. Satanism is about free will, embracing individuality, making your own choices and accepting the consequences of those choices, among other things. I don’t think that forcing a demon from the pits to do your bidding for an organized religion is very on brand with Satanism. I also don’t really HC hell/the pit being portrayed in the classically Christian way. But I don’t wanna get too much into that because then I’m basically spoiling some thing I’m writing.

some badly organized notes about how ghouls and summoning them works in my story (and a side of emeritus brothers dynamic as a treat)
some might have. noticed i haven't updated in a while. and yea i have been terribly busy but also i'm just a liddol bit stuck so i thought i'd share something else that's sitting in that same google docs in the meanwhile
so to me in my little version of the ghost lore the ghouls. first of all the summoning ritual. i don’t know exactly how it’s performed, i like the idea of it being super top secret like the actual method and whatnot, but i know according to what the ghouls that come out of the pit as a result are chosen. it’s all about what the papa who performs the summoning expects from his tenure, what he wants from his ghouls, as it Is said in the story. it’s not like a shooting star, where they get to pick and choose either - it’s just you, whatever your subconscious deems most important, and the pit, reaching its claws deep into your soul to find it and give it to you. so the reason why many ghouls have been summoned by multiple papas (and by this i specifically mean why there are some repeats in primo, secondo and terzo's packs) is. well. primo just truly wanted to do his best - he had already been papa for a while when the clergy re-introduced the ghost project, and he didn’t really feel prepared for it. y’know, a band is not exactly what he signed up for. but he was diligent and took the church seriously, so if leading a band was now part of his duties, he’d do his best with it. he could sing, he knew that much, they’d all been trained to sing, they’d all been altar boys singing in the church choir at mass since they were little. so all that was needed was some band ghouls, like nihil had done. papas would summon one or two ghouls to assist them if necessary before the ghost project was in action (cowbell had been one of primo’s), but for this job, they required new ghouls. so the ritual happens, and what primo wants more than anything is something that can make this new job as good, but easy, as possible. he was gonna do his best, but, truly, he couldn’t care less about being in the band. that’s also how a ghoul writer comes up - primo could sing, but he had no idea how to write songs, music or lyrics. so for that, he gets one of the ghouls that had been writing songs for mass, repurposes those mass songs for the album for minimal effort required.
and for what concerns musicians, well, we know them. we know them because half of them stick with the band for the next several years, with the next couple of papas. and why? well, because, while secondo and terzo might never say it, deep in their hearts they wanted, more than anything, to be just like primo. growing up, nihil wasn’t much of a presence in their life - be it because he was busy, or be it because he didn’t care. primo learned to be responsible and dutiful in spite of that, to make sure he would never end up like his father. he spent a lot of time going back and forth between italy and sweden, training and working endlessly since he was the first son, and therefore bound to take over as papa first, but he took it upon himself to always make some time for his brothers too, knowing well enough that nihil would never bother to do so. the younger two didn’t go to sweden as much, and primo’s the one who attempted to teach them some swedish - but really, primo taught them everything he could. they think incredibly highly of him. so when the time comes for them to be papas, that’s what they think of - the very same thing they’ve thought for most of their life: i want to be like him. and so the pit gave them the same things it had given to primo, plus something different that would fit them better, help lead them to success of their own. after all, while, subconsciously, their priority might have been to be like primo, secondo and terzo also had their own unique ideas, they couldn’t help but hope to surpass him too. they were raised competitive. nihil would never give any of his children, and least of all primo, any praise, lest they become soft, lest they feel too coddled and don’t strive for the sky. he needed primo’s standards to be especially high, so he always made sure primo knew his expectations for him would never be fulfilled. thankfully, the adoring gaze of his little brothers let him know that, actually, he was doing well enough. actually, he wasn’t failing. actually, someone was proud of him, and their opinions were worth infinitely more than nihil’s.
terzo has an unprecedented bond with his ghouls; so much so that the clergy makes some attempts to put up walls between them, in fear that ghouls all over the church end up getting too bold (unfortunately for them, not only do they fail, but the problems get worse in the next cycle) that is partly what gets terzo to summon more ghouls - because the clergy tries to find other tasks to keep his ghouls occupied, but terzo was most likely going to summon more regardless, just because he enjoys them so much, so he takes the chance. omega was forced away from the band more and more, the clergy was pushing for terzo to summon a new quintessence ghoul, but he couldn't, he could never replace omega in any way. the ritual the clergy all but forced him to perform straight up failed, as the pit could tell terzo had no intention to actually replace omega, and everything blows up in their face. (i'm even considering that maybe that's how he gets an entire new pack? like, in order to give terzo something with equal worth to omega the pit has to spit out an Entire new full set) so they resorted to following through with terzo's original plan: let his water ghoul delta, who was part quintessence anyway, take over when necessary, and summon a backup water ghoul instead. this he could do. that's how he gets mist, and he adores her dearly. terzo outsmarts the clergy by appointing omega as his personal assistant/bodyguard, something that was traditional and common enough for papas to do before the ghost project, so he gets away with it just fine. or something like that, just whatever would let terzo keep omega close at all times. the clergy lets it happen, because anything they try to do to put distance between terzo and his ghouls, between terzo and omega especially, they want to do as secretly as possible; they won't be open and clear about it, they don't want to be too obvious, because at the end of the day, papa has all the power. they Do try to enforce their own rules, sure, but not in a way that would give papa a reason to reprimend them.
terzo didn’t think he would ever be removed from the papacy or the band, and he was even starting to think up the next record; he wanted everything to be grander, and as such he wanted more ghouls to achieve that vibe. he summoned the new ones as he was recording popestar, and took them, rather than his original pack, on the popestar tour to prepare them for what being in the ghost project is like. the original pack went along with them too; they made up some excuse along the lines of it's better to have backup just in case these new ghouls falter. terzo would die if he had to be separated from them for too long. in fact, the pit was, frankly, a bit confused by that second summoning ritual; it wasn’t hard to send copia a second multi-ghoul, but there was nothing that terzo Needed. that’s how happy he was with his ghouls; he couldn’t wish for anything more, even subconsciously. so, the pit just sends him the standard: one of each element, and throws in two extras just to make sure he doesn’t come back to ask for more.
by the time copia joins the ghost project, primo is no longer where the bar is set; the new standard was set by terzo, so that’s what copia strikes for. he wants to be just like terzo, but he’s also extremely intimidated. so the pit gives him just a few of the many ghouls terzo had, some of the new ones he had summoned, that weren’t as close to him as his original ghouls. the pit also gives him more ghouls than what is usual, including the first multi-ghoul the ghost project had seen up until then, with a second multi-ghoulette joining later, because copia’s been made to feel so inferior to who’s come before him (he’s not even papa yet, if he ever will be) he’s convinced he needs extra help to make it work. he proceeds to summom two more even, a new quintessence and yet another multi, desperate attempt to overcompensate, especially in the face of his impending doom
if terzo and his ghouls were oddly close, it's completely Batshit with copia and his. funny thing is the clergy doesn't mind as much - and that's where sister imperator's influence comes in handy, where her playing favorites changes the rules. they let copia summon more and more ghouls without him having to find excuses. the dynamic here is something that could actually be dangerous in a way - unlike terzo's case - because i always say. terzo and his pack saw each other as equals, which was pretty new at the time. ghouls were by all accounts inferior to the clergymen, especially to the papa. but copia and his pack? i don't even know if they respect him at all - sure they love him, sure they're all fond of each other and extremely attached, but they fail to see him as the head figure he Should be. maybe because he wasn't papa when they first met him, maybe because after terzo the reputation of the papa figure as a whole got softened, but copia's ghouls just don't quite understand that he should be their leader, and he doesn't act like it anyway. a testament to him being a bit of a puppet in sister imperator's hands if you will. if there was a pack of ghoul that could overthrow the entire clergy it's This one, not the meliora pack, in short. (not that it was ever actually a concern)

What clan are the Dracula’s
[So, here’s the thing, just as all vampires and vampire rules differ from work to work, so does the poster boy for all vampire-dom, Dracula. So, I’m just going through some of the versions I’ve seen of the character, and what clan I think they might fall under. Also I’m a super indecisive person, so there might be updates here and there if I change my mind or add other Draculas.]
VTM- Tzimisce- So, let’s start with the one that we know for sure. The lore in Vampire says that he is Tzimisce. He’s most likely one of the older sects of them that don’t really use the flesh crafting as much as the younger counterparts seeing as he is still often depicted with what could be considered a fairly normal human appearance and and the time when he was embraced lines up with the clan before the change.
Original novel- Tzimisce- There’s not much different from this one as there was in the last one. Vampire kept him fairly close to the original character. I would say there is a slight possibility that he could be Ventrue seeing as he is a very commandeering and manner oriented person, but that could also just be his personality as well.
1931- Malkavian- I was going back and forth on a few ideas for this one, and I almost, almost went with Ventrue or even Ravnos. But, there was one thing that swayed me to think Malkavian: Renfield. Or, at least this version of him. The way that Rendield so suddenly went insane after seemingly being ghouled by Dracula reminds me a lot of the likes of Vandal in VTMB. A mortal given the curse that the supernatural can hardly handle themselves. There’s also the fact that most of Dracula’s victims show more of a dazed and foggy look to them when they are, “under his spell,” rather than just acting out of a faux sense of duty. This, I think, also leans more so toward Malkavian. As for when he turns into a bat and or wolf at Mina’s house, as well as a bat leading the carriage, I think that this could have been done with either ghouled animals, or more likely, especially if he is Malkavian or possibly even Ravnos, tricks of the mind as a means of diversion from his actual person. All that being said, I do think there would be a strong case for him being Ventrue as well.
Bram Stoker’s (1992 film) - Tzimisce (but it’s complicated)- Though he is more along the lines of those who do use flesh crafting. I also think that he has diablerized at lest a few other kindred, which does fit his violent and blood-hungry nature. We know he is Tzimisce because they confirm that he needs to rest in his native soil, is very proud of his old line heritage, and when he, “transforms,” into something else such as a wolf or bat, it is more so a wolf or bat creature, that is still man sized, and has his features like they would be from flesh crafting rather than say Gangrel animalism. The only time that we see an actual wolf representing him is when he kills and embraces Lucy. This could either be from him turning into the wolf, something that low generation, highly trained Tzimisce can do only with much effort which is why he only does so once, or is more likely the wolf that he has seemingly ghouled from earlier in the film. At the end of the night though, it would literally take at least half a book to explain all of the clans this one could possibly be, as if there was something that a vampire could possibly do, they most likely had him do it. So, the only thing I can really say is most likely Tzimisce who possibly diablerized a Gangrel (transforms into an actual wolf), a Lasombra (control of shadows, lack of reflection), and possibly a Ventrue( has supernatural means of ordering people such as the, “Don’t see me,” and, “See me now,” scenes with Mina). And, somehow he uses the thin blood abilities to turn to mist(proven to be him and not simply a trick of the mind as it interacts with Renfield) and a hoard of rodents to escape (usually bats, but rats in this case). Seeing as it is seen as impossible for a full blooded kindred to have these traits, the more likely yet still questionable answer is that at some point off screen, he struck a deal in some way with an unnamed thin blood who made it look like he has such powers. I also considered him to be Tremere, or rather Tremere adjacent seeing as he was turned vampire through ritual rather than embrace, and uses things through out the film that could be seen as Tremere rites, but other than how he got his blood this is rather flimsy as it has been proven in VTM lore that other clans can also learn at least some blood magic (as seen by Beckett using it to navigate an unfamiliar area at one point.) Side note because I talked about him in the ‘31 section: I don’t believe Renfield in this version can be indicative of Dracula being a Malkavian, as this version seems more like a ghoul suffering from withdrawals from lack of blood from his master and who is stuck in a society that doesn’t understand or believe him rather than him actually being mad. Shown when he says something along the lines of, “I’m not a madman! I’m a sane man fighting for his soul!”
Hellsing(manga/anime)- Ravnos- Dracula or Alucard in this version had me slightly scratching my head for a minute, as I couldn’t decide between Ravnos and Lasombra. But, I went with Ravnos. After looking through the bits that I had available I feel that when he turns into the shadow creatures and such it might be some of the hallucinations that Ravnos, especially in the more modern versions of Vampire, are known for. He’s most likely a very low generation seeing how much damage he can tank through and still bounce back almost immediately. It could also be thought that this is the reason that he is seemingly unstable sometimes as the start of the manga most likely takes place in 2000 (ask if curious on how I got that. It would take too long to explain here and I don’t want to have people slog through another paragraph like the one above). This is almost a year to the date of the Week of Nightmares, and one of the only reasons that he might have survived that was because he was in the hold of the Helsing Corporation, and they had the means to restrain him during this time of clan upheaval. The instability that shows in his personality and mood, something that he’s always been prone to, but has increased recently, could have been something agitated by the unrest the clan as a whole faces at the lost of their elder.
Castlevainia (mainline games and anime)- Tzimisce but fluent in Thaumaturgy- There is a LOT of slightly differing versions throughout the series, but most of them have enough similar that I just made one. I think that he’s more of a modern, flesh crafting kind. Though, I certainly think that he was certainly trained in blood magic at some point as there are plenty of times that he does rituals and the like. I debated thinking that he might have been Tremere, but there are enough things I think can disprove this. One of them being that the man is like eight feet tall. That could have been something done through flesh crafting, as well as the fact that he looks slightly different throughout the series, even in games that were in the same continuity and not reboots of some kind. This could also be from flesh crating. Something else I think he uses this ability for is to make the majority of the monsters that patrol his castle/attack the villages surrounding it. He’s had enough victims over the years that he’s most likely not short on body parts to use. I do still feel, however, that he somehow got ahold of a way to learn Thaumaturgy as there are plenty of things he does that fall more in that field more so than anything that Tzimisce can usually do; his castle being filled to the brim with magical artifacts and tomes.

So...Headcanons and lore. This list is absolute Chaos, but I'm sure that you all can make some sense of it. If not, Dm me or ask me something!
-Wooooooooooooooo-
Water ghouls are hunted for sport. They are supposedly the most beautiful breed of ghoul. They have unique features and Qualities (Skin, Horns, Magick) that are desirable for others. They are admittedly scary powerful too. There is a whole thing where, if you can kill a water ghoul, you are respected. If you can sell the parts of a water ghoul, you will get a lot of money.
It eventually became almost like a sport. So many people were hunting water ghouls that the numbers began to quell down. Water ghoul hybrids were wayyyy less desirable aswell. They didnt have as nice of qualities and weren't as "exotic". Anyways. This hunting made it so pure-bred water ghouls are really rare now. The vast majority of summoned water ghouls are hybrids, just dominantly Water.
When Rain was a kit, he was taken away from his parents and forced to grow up fighting for other beings in the pit. For entertainment. For sport. Due to him being a pure bred, there were many bets on him. Pure breds are extremely powerful, so obviously, he won a lot of his fights. When he wasnt fighting, he was kept in a cell, chained up and with a muzzle. He was viewed as aggressive due to how violent he could get. But he was just trying to survive.
Due to Water Ghouls being hunted so often, they are viewed as aggressive. They show aggression to those who are trying to kill them, and since Water Ghouls often tend to themselves and stay away from everyone, that's all that people really know about them. They are, in fact, the cutest and most anxious creatures you will ever meet. (Swiss gets cuteness agression around Rain)
Moon cycles effect them greatly. Full moon being their strongest point, and during the new moon they are very tired and more quiet. Younger ghouls can be dangerous during full moons because of less experience with their Magick, this often leads to older Water Ghouls playing babysitter and needing to take a trip to the infirmary after.
Water ghouls generally run cold. They can handle almost any temperature and be fine with it. (When any of the ghouls are sick, Rain gets hunted and ((forced)) encouraged to cuddle with them.)
Rain has a kitten sneeze. No questions asked.
He is VERY neurodivergent. Always had a fidget with him.
Bites his tail when hes anxious, and has little scars and Nicks all over the tip. Hes very insecure about this habit too, So none of the ghouls mention it.
Has a silent and breathy laugh, it sounds more like a chuckle. When he does laugh loudly, it lights the whole room up. He also has the stupid "He He He" giggle when his neuro divergency acts up. Sometimes will sound like a windex bottle, and constantly gets teased for it.
Love language is quality time. And physical touch, if you get cuddles from him, you are one of his favorite people.
Constantly is found with his nose in a book or eyes locked onto a screen. He LOVES video games so so much. His favorite is Resident Evil 7 Village. And he constantly gets sent into Bi-panic due to video games.
His handwriting is messy, but easy to read and slightly cursive.
Rain has tons of freckles and dapples on his skin that are either darker, lighter, or in a more blue tone. He has a large patch on his face that covers his right eye and some of his hair, that is extremely light. It made his right eye a moon colour and his hair white in that place. All of the other ghouls love his skin, just simply looking at it and drawing nothings with his freckles.
He has small clusters of scales that form when hes in water, they shimmer the most beautiful shades of cerulean and Teal.
Water Ghouls get markings on their skin when using their abilities. The markings only start showing up once they are summoned, and often mirror the way their summoning circle looked. Rains markings on his left arm are very visible and are hard to glamour away.
Tumblr media
Number one is rain
Rain's horns are Eigengrau (#16161D) with flecks of white, light gray, black, Krypton, and cobalt blue. They have an iridescent tint to them at the tips. They are pretty beaten up from his time in the pit. Theres a deep gash on the outer side of his left horn and the tip of his right horn is missing. There are many smaller gashes on them too.
Hes pretty scarred up due to the fights. He hate large crowds because of it now. Hates them.
Hes autistic. He gets meltdowns every once in a while. He struggles with speaking so he will just trail off sometimes, or just make a noise and gesture with his hands dramatically to get his point across.
He just randomly bites people. Its a sign of affection, but now all the other ghouls have small scars all over their body from being gnawed on.
He has pretty shitty mental health too. He struggles with eating so all of he other ghouls take care of him.
He has really simple but cute pet names for the other ghouls.
If you scratch behind his horn or pet his hair, he will melt and turn into a motor. He LOVES it so so much.
That's all for now. Ask me what Headcanons you want me to do next :)

i am in love with your brain. if you could bless us with more thoughts of ghouls & heat i'd be so very grateful. aether being the alpha in their pack makes my brain (and heart) go brrrrr
I'm so mad I cant find my post about Ifrit and Dew bc its got my Alpha lore dump but that's fine. Also this got away from me and is just about Aether being pack alpha and not really about heats bdbfndjdj sorry
Aether is SUCH a good alpha. It wasn't that hard to become alpha, the pack was so disjointed and on edge when he came in that it was easy to just. Let it happen. Take gentle charge. It was obvious when he first used his Alpha voice on Dew and actually got Dew to shut up and listen, and that's kinda when they all realized oh, we've got an alpha now.
Being a quintessence ghoul, he really does take care of everyone. His ability to read emotions means he knows who needs comfort, who needs to rant, whatever. And he always stands up for his pack against higher clergy members, usually whenever Dew does some stupid shit and gets in trouble.
He cares for his pack, and leads them with pride, and they all love him in return. And when he goes into heat they all make sure he's taken care of real well.
