Came to a revelation about Daigo’s character while I was half awake.

His anger is a massive part of his character and the fact he is/seems so controlled and mellowed once he’s Chairman is a bit of a testament to Kiryu’s power to inspire others (look at Mine and Hamazaki). But I think that anger is always there, no matter how we see Daigo. The Fudo Myo-o tattoo alone represents a deity who, in one translation, has a name meaning ‘Violent Wrathful One’ and slays ghosts and spirits with his fierce anger. Chosen for Y2 Daigo because of his position to be a leader someday and his anger, despite on the surface him embodying apathy more at the start. Kiryu is the one that forces him into a more active position and their first goal working together is making peace with with the Omi, but Daigo the entire time lashes out. He constantly fights Ryuji to varying degrees of success and later I think the more powerful display of anger comes out against Koji Shindo, the second Nishikiyama patriarch.

Murder undeniably is a pretty big deal to the main characters of these games and practically is the linchpin to the plot of 0. Y1 and Y2 don’t treat as serious because different writing at the time but nonetheless I’m going to meta-ize the fact that Daigo outright kills Shindo. He shot him to disarm him for aiming to kill Yayoi then shot him dead after yelling at him for nearly fucking over the Tojo Clan and probably also likely as revenge for Shindo forcing himself upon his mom. The only reason he doesn’t shoot him more despite the second shot being a death blow is because Kiryu steps in to curb his anger (pull his gun down and shake his head).

Before Kiryu kicks his ass out of apathy, Daigo was in the midst of a decade long struggle to come to terms with his father’s death, the majority of the time where he believed his hero had done the deed. He had to have been pissed off beyond compare and had no way to come to terms with it directly so he burned off his rage like many men in the series—getting into stupid fights. His impulsiveness got him into the set up by Ryuji, landing him in jail for five years. Even before all this, going back to Y0, he’s being a brat because he’s angry over no one treating him like a person, only as the son of the patriarch. His father was neglecting him because of his job and considering that Yayoi was active enough in the Clan to be the acting Chairman, she was probably in the same boat of neglect. Kiryu, his only friend basically, got kicked out of the Clan and yes Daigo says that it’s no reason for him and Kiryu to not hang out again he does phrase it as a question. At the very least, he’s unsure and worried that he’s going to be alone. It makes sense he decides to get apathetic about it and not care who wants to be his friend, but that apathy comes from his anger over feeling trapped in a situation.

People shit on Daigo a lot for making bad decisions but I think his decision making skills comes from two sources. Trying to be like Kiryu and trying to not let his own anger fuck over the situation, as the times before where he’s done that has either made the situation worse for himself (hating fake friends but giving into fake friends bc he’s lashing out) or he killed someone for it. That has to be hanging over his consciousness, or at least I’m going to treat him like it does with how the rest of the series treats murder. Kiryu being his hero sets up a lot of shitty actions on Kiryu’s part that Daigo follows because of course he will it’s Kiryu (who in fairness does help him sort his shit out it just also comes with consequences). Regardless of Daigo coming to honor the job of Chairman or not, it was a shitty thing to push the responsibility of the job from Kiryu to Daigo. Daigo needed direction at the time and it’s not a stretch to say that Chairman would’ve been a fit for him (and Kiryu ended up being right), it wasn’t what Daigo was looking for at the time. He didn’t need or want or care for the Tojo Clan until Kiryu knocked some sense into him. I’m arguing both sides here because Kiryu’s decision worked out well, but it was still a shitty decision since Daigo was pushed into taking the role at the start. Responsibility trumps over personal wants. As the series goes on, Daigo still looks up to Kiryu, but actively looks to him for advice on how to handle the Tojo Clan. Again it’s a situation that makes sense from both sides.

Daigo’s job is to lead the Clan, he can’t rely on Kiryu’s council or leading hand as he did for him during Y2. It’s a distance that Daigo has to learn to establish. I’m not saying it’s bad that Daigo makes exceptions for Kiryu, but it is to be reliant on him. This was sort of a crux in Mine’s argument in Y3–that the Tojo Clan had priority over Kiryu, especially considering that Kiryu was no longer in the Clan. The massive core to this back and forth argument (how much should Kiryu help Daigo out) is the fact that Kiryu was the Fourth Chairman. He had just as much responsibility to the Clan as Daigo does and while Daigo chooses to lead, Kiryu passed the buck to Terada (which lets be honest was the most short-sighted and one of the stupidest decisions on his part). It flatly comes across as Kiryu not wanting to take the responsibility of his position and that reasoning influences every single interaction with Daigo from then on. Yes, Daigo is a sound choice to become Sixth Chairman, yes also Kiryu did it because he didn’t want to take responsibility to be Chairman himself (hi Mine, you were right on this). Yes, Daigo needed to not rely on his hero, a person he idolized so much despite spending nearly a decade confusingly hating, yes also Kiryu should’ve given him council when requested because it would’ve likely helped the situation more than hurt it and also it kept the connection between them. Daigo saw Kiryu as a friend when he had none, then as his fallen hero, then back to being his hero for saving him from his own self destruction tendencies, then… that last part stagnates. Kiryu’s connection to Daigo when he’s Chairman is distant and not at all close. Considering the reaching out efforts Daigo makes, it makes more sense that Daigo is the one with the father complex upon Kiryu and not the other way around. Kiryu never reaches out to Daigo for anything other than Work(tm) and even then it’s only out of a response to more external pressures AND after Daigo tries to reach out. His letter to Kiryu comes as a result of reuniting with Haruka in Y6, it’s not much of his own resolve to reach out naturally.

All of this is to say—how could Daigo not be incredibly angry? During his time as Chairman he seems composed, slipping out into normal anger or being worried since he’s struggling with the job, but considering his former displays of anger up to that point I think it’s a miracle Daigo didn’t have a midlife crisis and cracked. He has to be full of rage, but managing to keep it under wraps because appearances are important. His life has always revolved around what others have expected for him, never once getting a say in what he wants to do from the start. Instead of his hero worship snapping, he clung even harder to it to make up for the fact that he had no one else to turn to. His same hero writes him a letter after his death about how he saw him as a son to him despite only being there for him when it was convenient and also when it also served to benefit himself. (Some dad, huh…) I want to see Daigo angry at Kiryu, I want him to grow outside of the garden Kiryu made for him.

i think it ultimately depends on what you consider to be worse, bc their issues are the same at their core, but manifest in different ways. chan is better than the reader in terms of emotional openness and willingness to be vulnerable w her. he’s the first one to open up to her, to release his emotions, cry, and allow himself to be comforted by her. however chan is much worse than her in the self-sacrificing (and to be honest, the self-loathing) department. he made the first breakthrough in sharing his struggles w the reader, but he allowed the guilt of leaning on her to consume him immediately after, which turned all his usual self-sabotaging behavior up to a 100 bc he felt like he had to make it up to her for daring to have a moment where he needed support for once. he doesn’t believe he deserves the reader’s love and care, and he doesn’t see why she’d love him if he isn’t useful to her, bc that’s the only way he’s ever known how to receive love

the reader is better than chan when it comes to acknowledging how she’s been mistreated by others as well as how her skewed approach to relationships harms both herself and her loved ones. she’s more self aware than him and a lil more bitter abt what she’s been through, which is why her view of love is so cynical at the beginning of bb. she’s able to console chan in bb3 and strive for a change in his behavior bc she wants to break the cycle of unhealthy relationships. however, that requires her to let down her own walls as well, and she’s a lot worse than channie in the emotional openness department bc she’s been conditioned to believe that seeking comfort in others will always end badly for her, bc of the kinds of ppl she's been surrounded by her whole life. she's accustomed to her feelings being used against her and feels selfish for having them, and she lost the only person (her best friend) who she was ever able to express her emotions with

so channie is able to open up to the reader, but not able to change himself out of fear of being unlovable if he isn’t constantly sacrificing himself. the reader longs to change herself, but is unable to open up bc she fears the vulnerability that it entails. i guess that’s why they need each other, to fill in the gaps where the other lacks! they fit together like pieces of a puzzle~

in my personal opinion channie is a lil worse, bc the way he treats himself is actively harmful and has more serious consequences on his life that he never seems to learn from no matter how much he gets hurt…but maybe the same could he said abt the reader? they're both just a bit stubborn in their own right hehe

metaltango ramblings dedicated to @albertbreasker <3 this got uh. long lmao

they met at arguably the most vulnerable time in leon's life. the intro in re4r really shows how how fucked up he was, forced to sign a government contract and put into military training almost immediately after raccoon city. i think a lot about the contract specifically bc not only did they not want leon going around spilling about what really happened in raccoon, but they also held sherry over him as leverage AND he was only 21. i can't begin to imagine the amount of shit he agreed to then that follows him for the rest of his career, if not his life

this post talks about how leon was not only just thrown into military training, but special forces training, as well as how his looks and being called "pretty boy" by krauser had the other recruits treating him (go read the whole post its really good)

anyways as hard as krauser was on leon, leon distinctly says it's exactly what he needed at the time. something intense enough to rid his mind of all thoughts about raccoon, no mater how brutal that something was. the clip of him and krauser sparring in the re4r intro is so filled with passion, leon is practically snarling at him and the movement of his hair and body just conveys his emotions so well, and having it as a parallel to their knife drill fight later in the game is just. yeah

(self harm mention) i wrote about this a bit in my leon character study fic but i have a hc that because krauser's training kept leon's mind off of raccoon and therefore he thought of it as a positive thing, sparring with and consequently being hurt by krauser became dangerously synonymous with comfort in leon's mind. seeing his signature knife made him calm instead of fearful, even aimed at his throat. he didn't pay much attention to it until the thought crossed his mind to take his own blade to his skin, wondering if it would have the same effect. as grueling as the training was there were still times when he was alone with his thoughts, unable to seek the "comfort" krauser gave him, and he itched for a way to take his mind away during those times too. but i think if he did try it, just pressing his knife lightly against his own arm, that's what would make him snap out of it. it makes him aware of the twisted logic and after that, he doesn't try again. doesn't even consider it. but that doesn't mean he stops throwing himself at krauser while sparring or pressing down on old bruises in the safety of his room.

operation javier is definitely a shift in their dynamic. leon is no longer krauser's rookie to train, but his partner on this mission. they already have a lot of history - krauser is too observant to not notice leon's strange reactions to their sparring - and spending that much time together, even out on the field, was bound to lead to some strange conversations, if not more (yes i'm saying they fucked in that jungle leave me along /lh)

i can only imagine leon noticing how jack seems to change. how he's less critical of B.O.W.'s, even on their mission to eradicate one. how he seems to face their enemies with a sort of awe instead of nothing but the will to take them down. how he closes off the father they get into the mission, becoming someone different than leon had known during training. i can only imagine leon ending that mission with a bitter taste in his mouth, knowing something was wrong with krauser, and not just physically. i can only imagine him getting the news of krauser's death. i can only imagine him clenching his fists as he recalls the last time he saw krauser, gritting his teeth as he recalls the last time he saw krauser when he was really himself. i can only imagine leon trying to come to terms with him being gone.

their reunion is fitting, almost. it carries the same intensity that pulled them together years ago. seeing the knife still does something to leon, although the painful realization that it was buried in luis's back quickly covers it. i mentioned the knife drill before, but it really is such an interesting and well done detail in my mind. krauser isn't just there to fight leon - he's there to remind him of the past. this only extends into krauser building a "battlefield" for leon, purpossefully bringing back more memories of leon's time training under him.

this is pure hc/shipping territory so feel free to skip or indulge me if you want but. reuniting with the man who nicknamed him "pretty boy" by seeing him stab the man who'd been incessantly flirting with him every hour in the short time they'd known each other? god. there's no way leon had the time or capacity to process seeing the man he'd thought was dead for the past two years standing in front of him, let alone him turning into the thing they used to fight against, or having to kill him with his own hands. everything happened so fast that it was almost like krauser was never even back. but after the mission is over, once the adrenaline rush is gone and leon is safe, it all hits him again. he relives every single moment of his sickly reunion with krauser in one night and has no idea what to do about it. not a fucking clue.

but before all that, there is luis. (no i'm not sorry for putting serennedy in here it's my post) luis, bleeding out on the floor, hand still holding his gun shakily in the air. leon doesn't have the time to come to terms with this either - not the strange feelings luis stirred up inside him and certainly not him taking his last breath in front of leon, cigarette in his mouth and words sounding desperate on his tongue when he says, "people can change, right leon?"

for now leon can only move forward with a key in his hand and the knowledge that luis is saving him and ashley one last time ("he was worried about you... until the end" still gets me) just like krauser's, luis's death will visit him again, but not now.

before their final fight, there's krauser's tent. the picture has been talked about again and again but what am i supposed to do, not mention how krauser had a picture of rookie leon with "i'm waiting" scrawled out on the bottom? not mention how it was left out with the recording for leon to find? how in the photo, leon still wears his rpd uniform? how there's such a clear "before" and "after" splitting his life in two?

the recording is also interesting to me, particularly in how krauser words things. talking about a battlefield, saying it's somewhere just for them, how he views what will happen next as a conclusion to operation javier. he does everything in his power to push leon back into the past, whether it be training or the operation. he wants leon confused, conflicted, unable to put himself wholly into the present fight because a part of him is stuck in the past (it doesn't work).

and then there's the fight itself, in all it's glory. the area constructed by krauser himself to remind leon of the training grounds. the taunts, the insults, the smattering of praise, the "pretty blues" and "pretty boy's". krauser's transformation, hulking form looming above leon. the way krauser knows when he's been bested and doesn't hesitate to tell leon that he trained him well. the way leon is made to use the knife he knows so well. and of course, the idea that krauser was supposed to guide leon's hand with his own, but it happen because of krauser's transformed arms.

leon kills the infected. it's his job. but i doubt it ever gets easier to kill something with a face you used to know.

The reaction to Allison has been interesting ,(and mildly infuriating) I've seen so many people saying "obviously" this was setting her up as the big bad villian of S4 which I don't see at all.

I think it comes from a few different things:-

1) people saying they want morally ambiguous/dysfunctional characters but in reality don't unless it's 'pretty' or angsty or something people can easily project on to. I assume there has to be a big difference in demographic for TUA Vs say, The Boys which is full of reprehensible people but the audience expect it. We've seen The umbrellas kill people as kids , I don't think their morality is the same of everyone elses.

2) there are two things I think from a writing perspective probably should have been done differently a) the Luther rumour scene -it brings back the romance subplot that people hated and couldn't even accept as an example of how their childhood fucked them all up, and well, it's hard to redeem SA. Probably should have been cut.

b) there's a certain point in S3 where all Allisons dialogue becomes almost entirely angry/snarky which has lead to a large influx of 'omg Allison is such a bitch!!!!!' I wish there was a late in the series convo with someone neutral like Klaus to give the character a moment to breathe.

3) Lack of sympathy for the character bc we've seen very little of Allison's life pre S1 and in childhood. I've seen loads of people say that she has had a basically cushy life due to her powers, and I think sooo many of the audience believe if they had her powers it would be all sunshine and rainbows. We got multiple flashbacks for Klaus this season (which I loved) but I really think Allison would benefit from some.

4) good old racism and misogyny. I reaaaaallly wanna know what the reaction would have been if Klaus killed Harlan for revenge for the moms or some shit.

Whew, this is all very true. People want traumatized/morally grey characters as long as they're sexy about it (see: Spike from Buffy, who took the SA way further and was still probably the most popular character). It's still bizarre for people to have watched the second season and say she's never had to work for anything.

I also think it's the target, though. Being mean to Viktor is kind of treated like the ultimate sin. People act like he's a little kid. So we get an angry black woman (already stigmatized as fuck) screaming at a small white person people essentially see as a child and go "I understand why she's angry, but she's crossing a line by being mean about it." She's talking to someone who destroyed her life twice. Does she owe it to him to be nice about what he has done to her, sometimes intentionally? Don't get me wrong, their fight was fucked up and Allison said some fucked-up shit, but the issue of the audience's reaction to Allison this season is multi-faceted--and it is an issue.

We needed more of her perspective. Fuck, we needed that scene with Klaus or someone where she says she doesn't get why everyone's so keen on dying and letting everyone else die with them. Put that between the vote and Reg killing Luther and Klaus could help her come to terms with death by talking about what awaits them on the other side. She could start looking forward to seeing Ray again when they hear a scream from down the hall...

...Apparently I have a fanfic to write.

But for real, I don't think Allison's arc will feel satisfying until next season. I think there will be big consequences for her, as many as there were benefits for her this season, and I hope they will come after she has calmed down and is ready to make peace with everyone. That's not even getting into what Harlan could have meant when he said her vibration sounded "wrong" (something to do with her self-rumor, maybe?).

when i think about it, i really feel like the way that red rangers in sentai treat their team's sixth has a huge influence on them being my favorite.

as i said before, my top 5 red rangers are yamato, koh, gira, takeru, and sasuke (for this i won't be discussing sasuke as his team does not have an official sixth). 4/5 of these guys have very impactful relationships with their sixth's and show a lot of kindness towards them, even when others might not.

with yamato, misao is constantly belittled for being a downer and sulking, and while yamato does find his tiresome at times he never is outright mean to misao. he gives him space and allows him to work through things. one of my favorite moments in zyuohger is when misao gets so upset his yukata got messed up that he doesn't want to watch the fireworks, so yamato takes a video of the fireworks to show another character and says it's also something he can show misao later, which cheers misao up.

for koh, there's a lot of hesitation on canalo's side about joining the ryusoulgers at all bc of the history between the land and sea tribes. however, koh gives canalo space and doesn't belittle canalo's duties, or the things he gets upset over. koh often reaches out to canalo and expresses care and kindness, which helps canalo build trust in the ryusoulgers, alongside witnessing their fights and conversations. koh isn't afraid to put trust into canalo and it has a great impact on their dynamic. one of my favorite scenes with them is when koh intrusts the ryusoulcalibur to canalo in their fight against eras, and canalo expresses surprise. it's a small but nice moment of reassuring that koh has trust in him and believes he is capable.

for gira, there's a lot of animosity against jeramie in the beginning due what side he's on being unclear. after jeramie explains himself, gira does not hesitate in taking interest in jeramie and accepts him quickly thereafter. i think their dynamic has been shown at it's best in the second half, and i think the scene in episode 28 where jeramie talks about how it's taken years to get as far as they have with regard to his kingdom and people being accepted is a great example of how the acceptance has impacted their lives. in that scene, it's clear that the efforts were not done alone, as gira reassures his people of jeramie's good nature and comforts jeramie as he thinks about the effort it took to get here. it makes it all the more impactful when jeramie tries to take the fall for the attacks on the kings, a scene that i think mainly fits to demonstrate the bond between the kings moreso than inflict long-term consequences. in the scene, both gira and jeramie tear up at the thought of jeramie possibly losing everything. jeramie entrusts rita to take care of his people, as he sent them to the caves in gokkan and he tells gira that dreams are not enough in this case, and they're not. it serves to show a care when gira refuses but eventually relents, but also a care when gira thanks jeramie and goes to check in on him soon after. gira has an obvious care for jeramie and he doesn't hesitate to show it or make it clear.

for takeru, genta is a childhood friend that he helped flee to safety when they were children. genta spends a lot of time learning and creating things to aid takeru, and upon his return takeru is stunned and wants to reject him out of fear of him getting hurt. genta isn't like the other shinkengers, he wasn't bound to be a samurai under takeru by lineage. takeru wants to keep him from danger but eventually comes to accept genta, and genta continues to be loyal to takeru to the very end. takeru is more closed off than the other reds but that doesn't mean he doesn't show trust or kindness in genta. one may consider it kind for him to think of genta's safety when he refused him and when he accepted him, though he also shows his kindness in other ways he does tend to try to be more subtle about such things.

i think that the way a red ranger responds to a new member really highlights who they are and i feel like it really does make me like certain reds more when they exhibit kindness, patience, acceptance, and overall care towards the sixth of their team.

The women in this show in general are all very good. I'm very used to being let down by shows like these when it comes to the women dslkfjdf but they're handling all of them very well! Each has a very distinct personality (except for Ms. Ector, RIP queen you will never be forgotten), and they all have desires. They all have wants. It's honestly fascinating to watch their arcs progress, I'm so excited about it. And, of course, I'm so very gay for all of them.

The building of Camelot as the place of legend we know today, literally from ruin and dust, is FASCINATING. The people flock there desperately wanting to get help, Arthur barely knows how to handle them all, the gates are open for everyone... And they all stay INSIDE the castle walls still, there isn't a town forming around them. They barely have enough resources to rebuild everything, but they all hope so much for things to be better than they were. It's quite sweet.

Squints at whatever that scene with Merlin and Morgan was. I could find the deeper meaning in that for sure if I looked but I'm not going to look.

GAWAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! MY BOY!!! WHAT A WRECK!

I love this interpretation of Arthur, because they I can see the clear arc they're making with his character and I'm so excited for it, but also... You buffoon. You clown. You fool. And GODDAMN this show is horny, I was not expecting this lol

i would absolutely believe how gay you are for morgan bc i am gay for her. eva green is my favorite ever. she was great in penny dreadful also. yeah i have to agree, kay's mom notwithstanding, everyone else feels fully realized. the point i try to make when discussing arthuriana is that having a female protag in a retelling does not automatically denote feminist, the story can still be incredibly misogynistic. but i don't get that from starz camelot, it truly stands apart in my eyes. it treats igraine, morgan, guinevere, etc with respect (regardless of morality, which is key, as morgan could easily be narratively abused to make a point about "evil" women while the men do whatever they want without consequence). each lady has equal narrative weight to merlin, arthur, kay, etc. its so refreshing. love the way they just piled everyone in without any long term plans. another thing i like about the writing here is it shows arthur is inexperienced without making him obnoxiously obtuse. he has no idea what he's doing but offers his good will to the people, yet they haven't got the infrastructure to see his vision realized. its naïve, not stupidity. which is important to keep us invested in him as a character! he is making mistakes, but they're not horror movie protag bad, so we stay engaged. he remains sympathetic. GAWAIN TIME!!!!! it only gets better.....he is so......unwell<3 every arthurian character is extremely varied so it's impossible to know whether darktail is reminiscent of mordred. its like "which mordred?" there are a million of that guy. he and gawain exist on a wild spectrum. there is a version of them for everyone. so darktail both is and isnt mordred. its beautiful really. don't apologize for long messages! you're talking to someone writing an arthurian epic bc a trilogy wasn't enough words for me. thank you for sharing your viewing experience. now everyone go watch this show.

i’m going to ramble about sothis now. btw.

(you don’t have to know the source bc most of this is based on an au divided from canon so I have to explain a lot anyway, that said i’ll put it under a read more so that I’m not clogging up feeds of people who are. you know. here for miku) (also this gets kinda sad. Major Character Death sad.)

so the main idea is basically, what if Sothis, the girl who turns out to be the goddess of the Church of Seiros, was never a goddess at all? What if... it was all a child deciding to play god, and everything that followed was an unintended butterfly effect, people making projections onto her that are beyond anything she ever actually wanted?

‘well how’d that happen?’ you ask, i’m so glad you asked, i’ll explain

it starts with a small dragon girl being left alone in Fodlan

Sothis doesn’t know if it was accidental or intentional, but the result remains; she’s all alone.

But she’s also a dragon- and being a dragon comes with a large amount of magical power, so even on her own she is able to survive.

The thing is, though, she’s also lonely.

So, she ventures out, and makes herself known to the humans who live there.

Seeing her magical prowess, far beyond anything a human is capable of, the humans ask her- are you a goddess?

And all Sothis knows is that she’s lonely, and she just wants to be accepted, wants people to love her. While thousands of years old due to the way dragons age, she’s still also a child and so she can’t foresee anything that could go wrong, any of the ways it could get out of control, and so.. she says yes

They ask her “are you a goddess” and she says Yes, and that’s how it starts.

At first, it’s great! she uses her magic to help people in ways that human magic is incapable of, bestows great power in the form of crests upon people who she sees as her friends

But there’s a sort of distance there, a distance in being a divinity, and eventually she can’t ignore it anymore, and so once again she is just a lonely girl

And then, Sothis meets a girl named Seiros

Seiros is an orphan, and when they meet, she looks younger than Sothis herself, and so Sothis makes a decision; she treats this girl not as a goddess treats a mortal, but as a big sister treats a younger sibling.

Time passes, and Seiros grows while Sothis does not, but the two remain friends. Sothis even gifts her an extra special crest; one that matches her own. And eventually, because of how close they are, Sothis tells her the truth; She Is Not A Goddess.

The truth is now known by two.

Meanwhile as the friendship between Sothis and Seiros grows, elsewhere a man named Nemesis starts to accumulate power.

With every step he takes in his journey, he only looks forward to how to reach the next until eventually... the next thing he wants is to be a god. And he decides that the way to achieve that is to kill the current god in power.

It’s easier than he would have expected.

Nemesis slays the goddess Sothis in her dragon form as she’s sleeping.

A fragment of Sothis is able to appear to Seiros, due to the crest Sothis shared with her, but otherwise in every other sense, Sothis is... dead.

The truth is now known by one.

The man Nemesis, continuing his plan to make himself “god”, uses the blood and bones of the slain dragon to make incredibly destructive and powerful weapons that no other human could achieve, and with the help of 13 knights loyal to him, starts to conquer the country.

When news reaches Seiros, Sothis begs her to rally people together in her name before Nemesis can cause more destruction, and Seiros agrees, but with one condition;

Once Nemesis is defeated, and everyone is safe, Seiros will come clean about the truth, no matter the consequences. Sothis agrees.

And so, Seiros gathers a force to resist Nemesis, in the name of Sothis as a goddess.

Skipping over long-term battles and stuff because I never really planned those out because they really don’t matter to the main point anyway,

They reach the final battle, with Seiros and Nemesis clashing directly, and then...!

In one move, Seiros and Nemesis both deal a fatal blow to each other.

The truth... is now known by none.

And so the followers of Seiros mourn her, name her a saint, worship her alongside Sothis,

And no one ever knows that neither of them wanted that.

...

So like tl;dr- what if god was a little girl who just wanted to be loved

What i don't get about your Olivia and Taylor post is that harry is also doing this stunts for his own PR. Do you truly think he has no say at all? He's a multimillionaire who chose his own record label and management, he could pay his way out if he wanted. Hell he could go on stage and say hey I'm gay I'm dating Louis if he wanted to. I'm not saying the whole industry doesn't suck, but it sucks for his beards too, they also have to navigate a system where they have to do PR and be in fake relationships to make it. Is Taylor really responsible for how this makes Louis feel? A stranger she has no relation to? Is Olivia the one planning every PR move Harry makes and not his team (who he chooses)?

Yeah they're aiding in closeting, but this closeting seems very voluntary from Harry and Louis side. If we agree that people come out on their own terms and it shouldn't be forced, then him doing a PR relationship is just part of that package.

Alot to unpack here so first off the whole "he's a multi millionaire" part so he can "pay his way out" is complete and utterly false! Elton John despite how rich and famous he is while still closeted had to marry his beard, Taylor while I'm not a fan had the shitty masters situation to deal with despite how rich and famous she is. She couldn't just buy her way out bc of contracts that were in place. And of course this reply tweet from Julia says just leaving you're label/buying you're way out of contracts "doesn't work like that" and she couldn't.

The choosing of his label I firmly believe H was being treated like shit and massively overworked with S*co/Cowbell and Jeff saw this and all the way back in 2013 when he was still only 19 started planting the seeds in H head about how you're being treated like shit here [which is true] when you want to go solo come with me and columbia and things will be 🌟 better 🌟 and I truly believe H thought it was true. Flash forward a few years whenever he is doing something stunt related and what not he looks fuckin miserable !! It's clear he now sees that was all a lie and things are hardly any better then they had been in 1D. Even on the music/concert side you see he is clearly being over worked just like he was in 1D.

If H comes out as being 🏳️‍🌈 and with louis there's a 100% chance at least a third of his solo fanbase will unstan him. S*ny/Columbia know this and since H is their biggest money maker they will do whatever they can to keep H and his relationship in the closet. So NO he couldn't just bring louis on stage and kiss him "if he wanted to." 🤪 bc there are probably so many contracts in place to prevent something like that from happening which WILL result in loss of fan aka loss of money. If either break them there where to do something like that there would be severe consequences and at minimum resulting in H being blacklisted. You think louis wants that for him?

Moving on to the beards I'm sorry I will NEVER feel any sympathy for bc on top of them being trash people outside the bearding, and on top of them making money off of closeting someone [for examples] both taylor and olivia used tf out of their fake relationship with H to either get more notice/fame and or make themselves look good ever at the expensive of H. IE olivia smug/happy while their getting mobbed even tho H is clearly uncomfortable or taylor making herself out to be a victim who got dumped and treated like trash by this "womanizer who doesn't care about women" aka H.

They may have not planned it but they sure as hell ran with it and we're more than happy to drag H or not care about how this all effected him [both mentally, physically and image wise] as long as they got to keep the spotlight and people cared about them. Don't worry tho if you don't see the taylor part in this bc once 1**9 TV comes out and it's all about rehashing h**lor/slandering H again with a H version of A** MV those like you who didn't see will see now.

Also louis is no stranger to taylor she knew exactly who he is and what she caused him along with H even AFTER h**lor ended bc taylor spent all her time throwing shade/dabs at H making him out to be a shitty person. Though the main point I was making was as a louis fan given how miserable/concerning he looked back then it makes sense that people were mad at taylor who was a factor in the root cause of his anger. Everything she did to sell h**lor just pissed louis off more bc anywhere he went that is what he was being asked about or in general was the topic.

Moving on the part about them "voluntarily doing all this and closeting themselves" which a lot of people say makes me eye roll. Just bc someone agrees to something doesn't mean they want to do it. It means hey I don't want to do this but I have no fuckin choice bc if I don't do this and attempt to put up with this there will be consequences and I won't be able to have a career. You think H was jumping at the chance to get into a bearding/PR with a women that would make him look like a homewrecker?

Lastly yes people should come out when their ready and doesn't owe us anything and if you see a celeb and go they might be 🏳️‍🌈 but if they are they are clearly hiding it well then yeah just leave it be. It's different though when it's someone like louis or harry who's NOT trying to hide it [IE comments made about men, comments about gay sex, songs about gay sex, or songs about being forcibly closeted in a homophobic music industry.]

They have made it clear time and time again if they could they would GLADLY be out and be free they want to be out and free but they aren't allowed. I personally think it's more on the side of H as to why neither is out but that's a whole other topic. So yeah I'm done now with this conversation last thing I'll say if you are someone who is always constantly annoyed with their choices just unstan and go. If you constantly choose to defend their beards over them just unstan and go it would be better for everyone.

so the newsies jr. edition script was released and its.... debatably better than the original? maybe not in terms of ensemble newsies (though there are now actual girlsies!!!), but in terms of plot it honestly is a lot more straight-forward about a few things, since strikes and this whole situation might be harder for younger kids to understand.

and honestly, i think jack's character is stretched more beyond 'romantic-flirt-cocky kid' than it was originally, which is goddamn cool.

more importantly than all of those, crutchie morris is quite literally the heart of the show. while he has always been an important part of the show, this new script makes it nearly impossible for him to be cast off, ignored, or "picked last" when it comes to favorites. as he has been for years. this script makes him explicitly the most important person in jack's life, it gives him more lines, more interactions, more bursts of that iconic personality, like.... it's impressive.

so i made a document with a bunch of screenshots of (canon, in-character) crutchie moments, that maybe some of you can incorporate when you finally write him! (open in google docs vs safari on mobile 🤭)

now that i’m thinking about it i can’t stop so. i know we in our heads are like yeah jacks the fighter, he gets into trouble, not afraid to get his hands dirty, all that. and that’s true too. but i’ve been looking at the script for something i’m doing and looking over the dialogue before wwh reprise. and jack’s fine with getting his hands dirty, as long as it’s just his hands. he can feel the big picture—“it ain’t just about us, all around this city there are kids” etc etc—but he doesn’t see it.

davey does. davey is the one who understands, really, that there has to be strategy, long-term endurance, and goddamn consequences too- ones that jack doesn’t seem as willing to accept. jack fr doesn’t have davey’s stamina when it comes to a fight, a real fight, since this isn’t some street-side brawl like jack wants to treat it as.

davey knows it’s a real fight, and davey is more ready than jack to do battle. he’s practically calling it a war- “they took this round.” he’s already trying to win the next battle. davey knows they’re lucky that all that’s happened so far was only one of them being carted off. he knows that if pulitzer wanted them dead, they would be, while jack still thinks rich folk like them don’t care enough about kids like him. he’s still getting stuck at the individual while davey is planning a battle with willing soldiers. and he’s willing to get hurt for it- is willing for the newsies to get hurt again for it again, because to him it is worth it. and to jack, right then in this scene… it’s not.

if anyones insecure, it’s jack, and if anyones a damn brick wall, it’s davey fucking jacobs.

OK!!! Long rambling post bc I finished my second rewatch of the ninjago movie!! Ignore if you’re one of my mcyt mutuals or don’t want any potential spoilers (?) for for sun song (my movieverse long fic that’s doing to have two twin plot lines oooo you wanna read it so bad) bc I am just rambling about how I’m gluing all the conflicting lore together

-France Exists. They have a little French guy say “bonjour ninjago!” so somewhere out there is the country of France. Idk about all that so. Fantasy France is still fantasy Asia 👍

-They also use Spanish words all the time so same extends here everyone is all fantasy Lego Asian I am not thinking about the consequences of Ninjago taking place on a pangea island with an inhospitable second island existing and Europe also existing I am willfully erasing Europe

-Lloyd is giving major “therapist friend who isn’t in therapy themselves” like he does all the emotional labor and for what

-He also tends to smile when uncomfortable and try to laugh off any of his own pain. Hypocritical styles of dealing with emotion etc etc

-My sooo serious /s revamp of the plot is including Meowthra being a more scary lion demon thing that gets banished through the power of love or some other dorky shit AND

-Lloyd getting his dumb lego arm ripped off is actually him SHATTERING shattering it (throwback to both him breaking his leg before the Garmadon fight way back in the beginning of the show and him breaking his arm w/Harumi and having arm armor for the rest of the show bc I’m so smart and big brained)

-The ninja kill Garmadon’s soldiers. People die. They are 16-17 in highschool and have racked up a kill count of several thousand when put together. I will try not to be cringe when I add this not so little detail I prommy

-The movie game makes things like Morro, Naddakan marrying Nya briefly, and the time twins all canon so. Adjusting the timeline to set those in the future idk if I’m including these guys in sun song in any major capacity but!! They are floating around somewhere

-Same thing goes for the Serpentine I’m just having them live in the next city over and just kinda vibing

Since the other ninja in the movie are just kinda, there. I’m giving them all backstories by chopping together what makes sense of their show ones, for example:

-Cole’s still got the dead mom and the dad who puts too much pressure on him

-I already said that Kai and Nya were raised in their parents blacksmith shop so they actually get a stable home life <3

-Zane is going to be Dr Julian’s failed attempt to build a better alexa that ended up sentient so he had to build this turning test passing weirdo a body so he can be a real boy™️ he doesn’t have a mom but all the movies on his hard drive make him think he has to pretend he does

-Ed and Edna are going to be Jay’s maternal grandparents/long term foster parents bc Libber and tbh I forgot his dad’s name are major celebrities who do lines between takes like they got custody taken SO fast

-Garmadon and Koko are, SO DIVORCED. So Vinny will make an appearance as Lloyd’s new stepdad who is just so significantly better like he will be the dad that steps up

Here’s where there’s actual spoilers but like if anyone reads this far they deserve a treat. I am,,, SO FUCKING EXCITED for how I’m fitting Harumi into sun song like queen really is going to show the fuck up and start stabbing people

ANYWAY !!!!!!! YAYYAYAYAYA IRIS AND SHERLOCK YAAAAAAAY. this post is probably gonna get long too so heres my eyecatch so people who dont wanna read all that are still forced to see them

describe their canon relationship/dynamic

God…. how do i…. they have so much going on …. lets start with the basics hes her dad. Obviously. thats her dad. he was handed a baby and just went Ok!!!!!!!! and took care of her forever. thats her dad. Iris’ main, initial frame of reference for The World and Being A Person is This Fucking Guy.

There is also the fact that thru most of the games she is not Calling Him her dad </3 consequences of. him telling her hes not her dad ansbJSHJSNSJSNSJSNWJS. even still as ryuu & susato say they have a parent child relationship … for the jokes abt iris being more lkke the parent of course which Is True and a Straightforward Joke But Still Really Funny. but he still is. like. The Dad Equivalent. Her Guardian. even when not actually Her Dad. they have a mutual duty of care. Sherlock makes sure they have money to buy food & Iris actually Makes Edible Food and thats about it you know.

they have the funniest fucking dynamic. Ever,. they treat each other like Equals. they talk to each other like Colleagues. They literally try to steal money from each other. iris bullies him all of the time and he also sort of bullies her back. Iris walks around loudly announcing embarrassing facts about him in public and Sherlock yells at her about it and no one feels bad and they love each other. and she kicks him. theyre so funny

Basically just. thats her dad. they are also best friends being each others constant companions for ten years (Because he raised her from birth). they steadfastly look out and care for each other. and every morning they wake up and try to invent new ways to be mean to each other

your ideal/headcanon version of it? how does it differ from how it is in canon & why is this your favorite version? any other alternate versions of it you enjoy?

in terms of Their Relationship Dynamic there is no way to improve upon it. there is nothing to change. theyre perfect. this is the best relationship ever. but i still of course have lots of headcanons about them. where do i even begin

for one thing as is probably already clear i thimk every day abt what capcom refuses to give us answers on: Iris’ Early Childhood and The Process Of Sherlock Raising Her. please i wanna know what that was like. And continues to be like tbh its just not something we see much bc its not relevant to ryuus side of things…… First of all: he has undeniably tried his best to take care of her and done an overall good job. look at her. Mikotoba would not have trusted sherlock with an entire fucking baby if he was not confident the man could like. Handle It. Successfully keep another human alive and make sure she comes out overall well adjusted and all that. But hes still. Sherlock Holmes (Ace Attorney Character). He. again. does not seem to have any perspective on what to prioritize. I just think he went “okay time to teach iris The Basics” and then jumped straight from “heres how to write your name” to giving her lectures on something he learned the other day about aerodynamics and skipped over a bunch of stuff in between and didn’t really realize until she, like, saw an owl and went UNAUTHORIZED FUCKING BEAST? because she was like 5 and had still never heard of an owl.

Also im glad everyone in the world independently got up and thought “he definitely took that baby to crime scenes” because he definitely took that baby to crime scenes. Like. As everyone has said 200 times. What the hell else is he gonna do? He has to take cases or he DIES. There is no one he is close enough to for him to go Hey take my baby for a while. He’s broke as fuck permanently he cant PAY someone to watch her. Come on 8 month old child who’s still figuring out how to, like, Exist, let’s go Solve A Mystery. I don’t think she’s ever, like, seen a dead body, though. It’s all in my head, you understand, I have the whole escalation of it in my mind - when shes a Really Tiny Baby he has to just focus on Watching Her and can only take the kind of cases that can be solved sitting in the living room (he is going insane), then when he gets past the “what if i stop paying attention to her for ONE SECOND and she EXPLODES” phase he can do stuff that actually requires Investigation, then the second she’s able to Talk he goes Yeah that probably means she can Help with investigations now. and shes iris so hes right. I think 1-5 is prrrrrrobably her first Murder Investigation though. shes a little girl! you don’t take a little girl to a murder scene! Except under special circumstances!

This veered in … some slightly different direction than just Their Relationship i guess but fuck dude it was fun. Like. I like them. I think about them. i think sherlock went oh god oh fuck i dont know what children are like whats good for children *thinks about him as a child* I WAS WEIRD WASNT I THAT WONT WORK *iris turns out to be Just Like Him* Oh thank god here 4 year old child take this chemistry set and scrap metal. Go wild.

what do you like about their relationship, why is it interesting or enjoyable to you?

I swear to god ive probably said this on 80% of these ask game responses: I like family. They family. all ace attorney games kind of have a Found Family cast in the end, but they dont generally refer to characters who dont have clear cut straightforward straight up family relationships As Family, except DGS, which has ryuu explicitly call them His Family, and, and, I don’t know that the themes of The Importance Of Family & Family Being Something You Can Choose play a huge role in the story of dgs itself in most places, esp the Chosen Family bit, but its THERE, in ryuu calling the gang his wonderful family & iris adopting him and susato as her siblings & mikotoba caring for asougi like his son and Most Prominently, Iris Calling Sherlock Her Dad. which i will elaborate on the importance of in a minute but anyway i just think theyre really cute and really funny

what about the individual characters involved? what does this relationship mean to them, what makes it unique among their relationships?

YOU REMEMBER THAT THING I SAID BRIEFLY IN THE HOMUMIKO ASK ABT MEETING SOMEONE RIGHT WHEN U REALLY NEED IT. *pulls out yet another pepe silvia style conspiracy board* Here i actually made a chart.

I don’t remember almost anything abt the mainline AA series, only remember this bc I’ve seen it mentioned so much, and don’t even remember it clearly enough to know for sure if it’s Dialogue From The Game or just Conclusions People Reached but you know that shit about, Phoenix gets disbarred and its A Bad Time For Him but its Less Bad Than It Could Have Been because at the same time he gets Trucy and now he has Trucy. Like. Same concept. “Accidental Child Acquisition leading to Better Ability To Cope With The Shit That Just Happened In Your Life” is more common than you might think apparently. Inspiring! Every Day This Man Holds Off Emotional Breakdown Until AFTER His Baby Is Fed

If i was ever going to say more about his side of things thanjudt. All That. i forgor. shes dotter. incontext the “i raised you well!!” line is just , a joke abt him being proud of her for something He Very Much Does Not Ever Do Himself but still like WAH . proud of dotter.

Anyway originally i was like, what the hell can I say about iris? That’s her dad and that’s about it. And then I went Simon are you fucking STUPID? THATS HER DAD. THATS THE POINT. God… oh my god …….

Basically!! Returning to the point about Choosing Who Your Family Is and how Sherlock & Iris and specifically Iris calling him her dad for the first time (since we met her) is the most prominent example in the game!!!

Iris’s Whole Deal™️ is she got her World Changed by finding out sherlock wasn’t her “real” dad and her dad was Some Guy She’s Never Met and now she goes then who the fuck IS my dad? Where do I come from? Who Am I? and her Search For Her Dad, Desire To Meet Him, & Attempt To Feel Closer To Him By Reading His Notes And Putting Herself In His Shoes is like. a big part of her identity. For like maybe almost half her life up to this point too!! And …… then she gets closer & farther away & closer & farther away and she decides Susie & Ryuu r her Siblings and somewhere in all of this. decides it doesnt matter quite That much who her “Real” Dad is because shes not defined by her biological father and she already. Has a dad. cries. And. And. And because of the time she spent Not Thinking Of Sherlock As Her Dad it means hes her dad ultimately because She Decided It . not bc he or anyone else said it should be like that but bc she decided he is her dad.

So like . you know. starts sobbing in the streets. anyway they r just both very very important to each other

favorite interaction they have in canon

First prize goes to the off-screen interaction Iris mentions in the credits where she gave him a note that just said like “thank you for everything daddy!” and he read it and started crying. Its like. The ONE thing about dgs2 i remembered with Clarity. in the years between my first & second times watching dgs i thought about it often and i still do.

Second prize goes to her going “oh its just a wax figure see *KICKS HIM AS HARD AS SHE CAN*” itsso fucking funny. that was not necessary. at all. she just wanted to kick him huh

FUCK UMMM. UHHHHH. i already kind of talked about it but even though i dont think its really even IMPLIED? that sherlock has ever taken her to Investigate A Case? she just stays at home generally? In my heart she goes with him and helps out somet8mes. i want to see it.

So I completed everything Underdark for Davina yesterday and started two saves for shadow lands - one to resist and one to give in just to see how the story goes, but “canonically” Vinnie is mainly resist so far. (She absolutely would resist the initial mission given for shadowlands / last light if only out of spite at being told what to do - if she’s going to do murder and mayhem it will be on her terms …. Or if she loses control.) that’s not to say she won’t give in to some urges, but she has enough brain to see the consequences of what lizard man asks for this part and says nah, I’m good.

Also finally did some more in Val’s playthrough (she’s literally just reached the grove oops). What I can tell you so far is that she thinks Gale is dreamy and that Astarion is a red flag walking and that she wants to stay up all night talking arcane knowledge and lore with Gale under the stars and then get railed by Astarion while he feeds on her before taking a long nap basking in the sun like a lizard. She does not like the way Lae’zel treats her (or anyone) and finds her condescending and brutish (this may be the tiefling and trauma talking) but gives a stiff upper lip because the gith seems to think she knows a cure. She isn’t sure what to make of Shadowheart as a whole - the almost saccharine sweet vs sharp sarcasm is giving her whiplash - and a headache. The secrecy is just making her suspicious bc she has a long history of betrayal and misery from her pre adult years and it definitely is making her uneasy with SH. The grove makes her happy and sad bc it’s nice to see a cluster of her people living and semi functioning but she is already seething about the Druids wanting to kick them out and she barely arrived. It will take every ounce of composure she has not to immediately lash out at Kagha. (She will probably take the investigate Kagha route - to which end I’m not sure yet.) She will 100% want to kill the goblins et al to protect the tieflings. She is ambivalent about the Druids survival but she doesn’t see a way to save one and not the other so. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I was up til eleven and only got like four hours sleep so. Idk how much writing I’ll get done but if you want to send memes to either of these ladies that’d be swell!

Okay soooo this rambles into other semi-related trains of thought way too much. I got carried away because this is my favorite fucking man and I have thought bout this subject in great detail but I hope you ENJOY!!! 😁

CAPTAIN REX PREGNANCY HEADCANNONS

I'd like to start this off by clarifying how I see Rex's character when it comes to romantic relationships bcs I fucking wanna talk about it, okay? Personally, I don't see Rex as a one-night stand kind of man due to his loyal heart and overthinking nature. For him to truly be comfortable enough with another person in which he would truly enjoy engaging into a sexual relationship, I believe he NEEDS a strong emotional connection with that person, first.

Rex is a planner. He's not one to jump into anything blindly without thinking about the long-term consequences or possibilities.

That being said, assuming he's actually in a long-term relationship with someone who is capable of getting pregnant and carrying life.. The brilliant mechanics of his awkward mind have already concocted up multiple scenarios in which you have become pregnant at his hand. And thus, how he may react.

Of course, Rex is a natural leader and an excellent teacher. Describing him as modest is an understatement however he is self-aware of his own strengths. Simply put, Captain Rex is a good capable man and he knows it. And the notion of having a family after the war is finally won is something he entertains thoughtfully. After all, isn't that what this is all for? Fighting evil to bring peace to the galaxy and ALL of its inhabitants? Him and his brothers included.

Once this Captain begins truly loving you.. Rex's plans for his future following the war are simple. Wherever you are and whatever you want. This is his future. He would follow you to the end of the mapped galaxy and work his hands to the bone, just to make you happy. And if creating a new life is a part of your desires, then by the stars, he would give that to you. Anything for you..

However, the idea of literally fathering a life and raising a child is quite scary to our boy, Rex. Not because of anything on his partners behalf, but mostly due to his own deep rooted insecurities surrounding his clonehood. He never experienced traditional adolescent life, nor had real parents to observe in his upbringing. Going into something blind is not how our Rex likes to do things and feels as though he'd be going into parenting blind as an Alderaaanian cave bat.

He worries that he may be cold and inattentive to his own child. What if the kid doesn't like him? He doesn't know how to cook and provide for a child?? What about education for the child? Not to mention his genuine fears of passing down the accelerated aging gene to any child he may spire..

Don't fret, dear reader, these fears don't completely deter his sweet fantasies of being called 'papa' by a mini-him! Oh no.. It's just something he hopes to happen, if the fates decide to treat him so kindly, after the war is won and once he's become more confident in himself as a man, and not just as a clone soldier for the Republic.

The idea of you becoming pregnant during the war, is honestly a super anxiety inducing theoretical for Rex. And he has, in likely more the most delicate and gentle way possible, expressed as much to you. The conversation of your contraceptives has been brought up more than once as he needs reassurance.

But, of course, the discussion of "What if we do accidentally become pregnant?" has also been had. Verdict; whatever you want to do, he will support your choice. Your body, your decision. However having nothing but pure adoration for you, Rex guarantees you that he would be there every step of the way.. Well, to the best of his ability anyways as he still remains part of the GAR.

So, lets say that you've found yourself pregnant during this time? While his priorities, against his will perhaps, lie elsewhere?

Upon hearing the news, our normally very competent and articulate Captain likely forgets how to function entirely.

Rex: *Internet dial-up sounds as his brain shuts down and processes the news he's just heard*

His amber eyes are busy at work but the rest of him remains still as a statue. The moment that you outwardly show any signs of hurt or worry at his lack of reaction, is when Rex forces himself to react.

"I-I'm sorry, the news just caught me off guard, cyare... I'm... I love you so much." He'd pull you possessively into his lap and hold you. Rex would stroke your hair and inhale your scent. Lips against your forehead in a tender reassurance of his dedication to you and the relationship. "I'm just processing the news, is all."

I ain't gonna sugarcoat it, babes. Emotionally, he's gonna need some real reassurance from you in regards to your plans for caring for this baby. Not that this man wouldn't do anything in his power to help you, but Rex feels absolute powerless in this situation.

This man is a weapon of the Republic, currently. There's no guarantee really as to how present he will be able be during your pregnancy or the milestones of his childs life. He has no prospects to provide to you, or his unborn child. No land. No credits. Not even a last name.. he is just a number.

Not to mention - Fathering children and maintaining relationships with civies is against protocol. No matter how proud Rex is to be with you, to be the father of the child you will bring into this galaxy.. Rex cant even be public about it. He cant tell his brothers and friends, and share his pride and joy with them. His family will remain secret. This is another part of fatherhood that he simply cannot have and it's gut-wrenching for him.

And knowing that the majority of, what should be joint responsibilities, will fall solely onto your shoulders.. makes him feels a twisted sort of melancholy. And there is an immense guilt overcoming him when initially hearing this bombshell.

Upon hearing your plans, and feeling assured that you will be okay in spite of his current circumstance - He attempts to think beyond his worries, and focus on the positives of it.

The fact that making love to you has created a life - is WILD. The person he loves, is carrying part of him inside themselves... Carrying something new and beautiful. This realization finally calms your Captain from his anxieties and he cries.

Rex holds you and simply weeps. Overjoyed that he is so lucky to be able to have something that is really, truly his.

Now, everything in his life is different. Even his behavior in the battlefield has changed. He looks upon families with a newfound gleam in his eyes, knowing this will one day be him and you. And his child.

While still always being careful during battle, Rex is now even more careful - Refusing to allow his child to be fatherless. He will make it to the end of the war, that he is sure of.

There's a couple of times when he's off-world in the marketplace, and see's baby goods. He has very little money.. but when no other clone is looking, he likes to pick up little toys and clothes for the little one to present you when he see's you again.

The look on your face when he starts showing genuine excitement makes him melt, and look to the future with excitement.

His future with his family.

It kills him still, that he isn't able to be there for the majority of your appointments. If he is able to be there for them though, he's so attentive! He asks the doctor questions and holds your hand. He's present mentally and physically, and it makes you both so happy!

When you present him with the first ultrasound photo he stares at it with stardust in his amber eyes for hours. He keeps a copy in his bucket so he can look at it when he's away.

He leaves the naming to you mostly - Simply approving or disapproving what you suggest. Though he does get you a baby name book and likes it when you read the names out to him.

He would be fine with any gender so long as the baby is healthy, but secretly wants a boy.

Rex. would. be the best snuggler while you are pregnant. he's be the big spoon 100% of the time all the while holding your stomach and smelling your hair.

Rex really considers telling Anakin about his situation. And though the men have never full discussed their romantic lives, there is an understanding that they both have secret priorities away from the Republic. Rex knows leagues more about Anakin's dedication to Padme, as Anakin is not exactly the best at navigating his relationship discretely... But Anakin definitely suspects that Rex has someone. It is never discussed. But especially as you grow more and more pregnant, Rex worries about being able to be there when you deliver. He owes it to you, and his child, to be there for this one. Maybe his Commander, his friend, could help him?

I gotta stop because this is going on to long but I think he'd initially shut down, feel despair, then beam with love and joy at the journey!

Does Ronan realize he’s turned into Kavinsky? Or better question, do you think the parallels to Kavinsky in MI were intentional on Maggie’s part? Because unless you’ve read every book since TRC, she makes no reference or gives no context to Kavinksy. Or could this be Maggie’s way of writing more of a Kavinsky like character after she swore she wouldn’t write any more of his character? I think MI Ronan is who he would have maybe turned into faster if he’d chosen Kavinsky in TRB. Maybe, MI Ronan wishes he had...

oh now HERE'S a question i'm ready to sink my teeth into, coming off my second read. (first read was to feel all my feelings, second was to analyze the story as a whole)

100% yes, i think the parallels are intentional.

but i don't think we can talk meaningfully about that without exploring how HENNESSY is a kavinsky parallel.

for the sake of brevity i'm gonna just. give an overview of a lot of thoughts that could all have their own very long meta posts

(ok putting it under a readmore bc it still ended up semi lengthy)

we're introduced to hennessy in cdth as a suicidal, partying, chain-smoking, bitchy forger who dreams real people and doesn't appear to care about the consequences. there are plenty of things setting her apart from kavinsky, which are made clear as the story unfolds, but this choice of introduction makes the parallel striking & Definitely intentional

her relationship to ronan is in many ways a rovinsky with the power dynamics reversed: him teaching HER to dream, rather than the other way around

it's also about as dysfunctional as rovinsky is because ronan is 1) projecting his own anger at himself onto her 2) unable to think clearly around his fear of being left alone if she dies 3) just. ronan

when mi opens, ronan is protecting her from her trauma, but it's not sustainable. she wants to be able to function independently of him; he doesn't understand why she can't just accept she's going to be fucked-up forever. something he considers irrefutable fact

projecting!!!! again!!!!!

ronan's not in a healthy place at the start of mi but he becomes significantly less healthy as the book goes on. isolation has never been good for him. as the story unfolds, he and hennessy just make each other worse. neither is in a place to support the other the way they need to be supported. both are choosing not to reach out the way they need to

what i find interesting about their parallel negative arcs in this book is that both of them take their own piece of kavinsky. and in doing so end up with diametrically opposed goals. hennessy gets to a point of "i don't care about anything anymore, not even jordan" & ronan gets to a point of "nothing is real, i'm gonna burn everything down"

do i think ronan realizes he's become more like k than he might have ever been before? not consciously. it's one of those things he can't let himself think. kavinsky didn't care about the consequences of his actions, didn't care about who he hurt, didn't care about the future. ronan, on the other hand, is serving a Purpose. there's a reason behind all of his actions. he's telling himself that it's about matthew and other dreamers and other dreams, and partially it is, but it's also about how he's sick and just wants a solution that's easy

even as ronan's trying to destroy the world he's telling himself that he can keep people safe - keep the dam from going down too fast, keep the lines from being dangerous, keep hennessy safe from her dreams. it's all bullshit. he can't control any of these factors but he has to believe he can. he's going to pieces

aside from the morals and a life purpose, though, he's just gotten a lot worse. isolation is fucking with his head; so is bryde. if ronan went with kavinsky in dream thieves, i can definitely see him blowing up all his meaningful relationships and fucking everything up forever. this book truly was a treat for everyone who's wanted to see what ronan lynch would look like if he let himself go

but in terms of narrative, ronan's parallels to HENNESSY matter Much More thematically than his parallels to kavinsky. there's no need to introduce k-related backstory for foil/theme/characterization/etc purposes when hennessy is Right There

hennessy and ronan are both their own ghosts of kavinsky. and so the way they destroy each other in mi is like. STUNNING in its execution. god bless
