this is a Wild™ prompt so no pressure to actually do it, but i’ve had the scenario of “somehow s5 martin ends up in s1-s2, has to figure out how to deal with that” and if u want a narrower thing, maybe how he reacts to seeing someone again/for the first time? (Sasha, Juergen Leitner, Prentiss, etc)

“Don’t go wandering off in the middle of the apocalypse” seems like a pretty simple rule to follow. “Especially don’t go through any weird doors, Christ, Martin, how can that possibly be a good idea on any level, do you remember nothing from the last five years of your existence?” also seems like a generally easy thing to keep in mind. And yet, Martin is guilty of the same sin that appears to be intrinsic of all of those who find themselves under the influence of the eye, his need to know something overriding his common sense. In his defense, the door was only like 2 meters away and he wasn’t planning on going through it or even touching it at all. He just wanted to look, because it appeared to be made of a liquid version of frosted glass, and it was translucent enough that he could sort of make out the other side of it. As he got closer, he confirmed that the other side of the door a: definitely didn’t match the rest of their own little hell-scape, and b: seemed familiar in a way he couldn’t quite make sense of.

Of course, in the dream logic of their reality, you don’t have to place your hand on the door knob in order for you to enter some place new. All it takes is getting within a foot of the door, squinting to futilely try and bring the scene across from him into better focus, and a blink and suddenly he is not where he’s supposed to be. Instead, he is staring down the hallway of his former apartment complex, watching as a familiar woman attired in a red dress and countless words is steadily knocking at his door. There’s a weight in his hands that wasn’t there before, and he looks down to find a fire extinguisher in prime position to be fired. Huh. How serendipitous.

Martin’s surprised to find that he doesn’t feel afraid, not in this moment. It appears that for all the two weeks spent hiding from her still frequent more often than not in his nightmares, for all that the sight of canned peaches still makes him nauseous, in his (probably) waking hours, she is far less intimidating than the myriad of horrors he has faced since. Or, perhaps, it’s simply that he is actually equipped to face her, and that takes away some of the teeth of his fear. Any semblance of preparation, of a plan, has given him comfort when he had little else, and that continues on now. Admittedly, though, while he does have preparation for this encounter, his plan is little more than “get Prentiss off of my fucking lawn and then see where we go from there” before he’s striding towards her.

He’s able to get close to her, about as close as he’s willing to get, before she takes any notice of him. Once he’s about five feet away, she turns her head, and briefly pauses that incessant, infuriating knocking. She gets as far as saying, “Oh, aren’t you inter-” before he sends a spray of foam directly to her face. It’s far from enough to kill her, but it’s enough to kill off some of the worms, so there’s no way that it doesn’t at least sting quite a bit. The CO2 makes her stutter and take several steps back, swatting at the foam at an attempt to get it off.

He considers pulling the handle once again, but he’s really more concerned with getting her to leave than hurting her further, and he doesn’t to run out of ammo this early should she recover and decide to go on the attack. However, he likes to think he’s not too much of a fool, so he keeps the nozzle trained on her as she becomes less frantic.

Finally she stills her swatting, breathing heavily and glaring at him, as much as she can make any sort of facial expression with what’s left of her face. “That was rather rude of you, little one. And we are trying to offer you an escape from being so tragically singular.”

Martin raises the nozzle slightly higher, just enough to bring focus to the motion as he replies, “Yeah, well, it was rude of you to stalk my apartment for two weeks and try to kill me and my coworkers, so forgive me if I don’t feel all that grateful for your oh so generous offer.”

“Hmm. So you are his future. That’s a shame. We are made so loneliness is impossible, it would not wrap itself so throughly into your form. Our love could still be given to you, in this time.”

“I have no interest in your hollow version of love. He has no interest in it. Now, leave.”

Prentiss give an airy wave of her hand, and the worms that had been trying to find any crack in the sealed door come crawling back to their home. “Fine, fine. This was just a bit of fun, anyway. I’ll be seeing him soon enough anyway.”

Martin makes a hum of acknowledgement, though he response makes little difference to her taking her leave. There’s a few silver-grey disgusting stragglers that be promptly and throughly kills with a combination of the fire extinguisher and some well placed stomps. It’s only after he finishes this that the hesitation hits him, the trepidation curling low in his stomach until it solidifies into something akin to fear. He’ll take a worm monster over facing himself any time of any day.

What would he even say to himself? Good luck, the next years of your life are completely fucked? Hey, congratulations, you actually made it to your 30s, so that’s a bit of surprise, but you’re almost certainly not going to get to 35? Don’t talk to a man named Peter Lukas, or maybe just avoid any Lukases in general? Maybe he should lie, tell him things are going to turn out okay when they’re definitely not?

Wait, okay, maybe he has something with the Peter tip. If there’s an opportunity to give this version of him some advice that could prevent future grief, he might as well go for it. It’s like, how badly could he actually mess up the time line with his interference? The world could end again? Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Upon the realization that basically no matter what he does right now there’s basically no where to go up but up, he makes an executive decision to go in there and confront himself head on. Hell, maybe that’s the Thing that’s needed to get him back to Jon.

As he goes to turn the door handle he also, briefly, thinks that he should bring up that he’s madly in love with someone who feels the same. It’s not immediately relevant for trying to prevent some of the mistakes he’s made, but Martin remembers being 28, utterly convinced both that love was real and something that was completely unattainable for something like him. Being wrong on the second part of that conviction is one of the few true comforting things he can provide.

The door is, of course, locked, so he goes with plan B. Turns out fire extinguishers are rather handy for smashing things, and he brings it down several times in rapid succession until the knob breaks. There’s one step down, but he had forgotten about the furniture barricade that had been put in place. He can get the door open about 7 centimeters before it refuses to budge, and he begins to wonder if all of this is an exercise in futility. At least his voice won’t be muffled when he calls out, “Martin? You in there?”

There’s nothing but silence, and he sighs and leans his head against the apartment door. “Seriously, Martin, could you respond? And maybe move some of this furniture? If you’re dead that means things are way more messed up than I expected.”

After a beat, a strained voice calls out, “Oh, so a bad impersonation of me is part of your dumb monster powers now? Piss off!”

After a groan and an eyeroll, Martin calls back “I’m not-!” before cutting himself off. He meant to say “I’m not a monster, I’m you” but both of those things are only about 60-70% true. Instead he goes with, “I’m not an impersonation. If I was something pretending to be someone else to get inside, wouldn’t I pick one of your coworkers coming to get you? Like Tim or Jon or Sa- you know, um, one of them?”

Silence.

“You have a peephole, right? You could look through it, confirm that I’m not worm-infested?”

He doesn’t hear a response with words, but he does hear the sounds of motion coming from inside. After a few minutes, the furniture is pushed aside, and the door is opened for him. Jesus, the guy on the other side of the door looks like shit. He probably doesn’t look much better, apocalypse grime covering every inch of him, but still. The man in front of him has deep bags under his eyes and a gauntness to his face that will take a while to ease. Worst of all, he looks painfully young and painfully afraid, and while Martin can recognize himself on a logical level, there’s a forced disconnect that makes him feel like he’s looking at a stranger. The knife that’s being held between them probably doesn’t help matters.

His former self’s voice shakes with a mix of adrenaline and exhaustion. “You got the hair color wrong. And the age.”

“That’s because I’m 32. Also, still not an impersonation.”

“My hair goes white in 5 years?”

“Not in the natural way. You know those hokey stories where people are so scared their hair turns white? That’s...sort of what happened. And it’s not going to happen to you, if I can help it.”

That’s the wrong thing to say, apparently, as the younger Martin’s face twists up. It’s a lot, Martin thinks it’s a lot and he’s far more experienced in the reality of the esoteric, but sometimes things being a lot is unavoidable, and he’s pretty sure time travel is one of those cases. He shrugs in response to the younger’s confusion, and says, “Can I come in? I think I’m here to dole out some advice, and I’d honestly prefer to do while not standing in worm corpses.”

He’s studied for a few brief moments, before he’s told, “You broke my doorknob.”

“You’re never gonna live here again, and it’s not like you were getting the security deposit back anyway. Does it matter?”

The younger one’s face collapses, despondent when he replies, “But. I don’t have anywhere else to go.”

Martin’s been experiencing a nauseating mixture of anger, pity, and compassion while seeing his past self, but that’s enough to kick in his care-taking instincts, and he really just wants to wrap the guy in a blanket. That’s not going to help either of them, but what he says next might. With a frankly ridiculous wave of fondness for that uncomfortable cot (or, more accurately, for the memory of a certain someone offering said cot), “You will. After you go back to the institute, you, um, you won’t have to stay here again.”

Martin, junior edition, only looks more lost, but he does step aside to let Martin inside the apartment even if he doesn’t lose his death grip on the knife. Martin pulls the door behind him, and as he does so, it transforms into the door that got him in this mess, so looks like he made the right choice. It doesn’t immediately take him (hopefully) back to his own time, but Martin’s gut is telling him that he won’t be spending much longer here. “Okay, so, you have a notebook around here, right? Because I’m about to dump quite a bit of information on you all at once, and I happen to know that our memory for things of this sort is not fantastic.”

The younger one glances over to the table where a notebook and pen are laying and while he moves towards it, he’s clearly hesitant to occupy both his hands with writing. The precaution makes sense, but Martin’s getting tired of it nonetheless due to a combination of running out of time and generally being tired of people seeing him as a threat. With a sigh, he tries his best to evenly say, “The next few years are going to be, um, messed up, to say the least, but hopefully if you have more information than I did, they’ll be less messed up.”

Younger Martin finally concedes, putting the knife down to pick up the pen, and flips the notebook open. Primed to start writing, he gives slight nod of his head to tell Martin to keep talking. Martin takes a breath, lets it out, and spills everything he can think of. “Okay, most immediately, CO2 kills Prentiss’s worms, and enough of it will kill her. A fire suppressant system will do the trick, but make sure there’s a way to actually trigger it inside of the archives. Makes sure the weird spooky table doesn’t get destroyed, it seems like it should be destroyed, this instinct is wrong. Generally speaking, you should get a buddy system set up, as it’s usually when people go off on their own that particularly bad things start to happen, whether it’s on an investigation or going to America. Speaking of, don’t let Jon go to America. Don’t let Tim go to stop the Unknowing. The Unknowing won’t work anyway, but you’ll probably still want to have the circus blown up, just make sure everyone is doing it from a distance. Don’t let yourself work for Peter Lukas, actually don’t interact with Peter Lukas, except maybe to, I don’t know, hit him with a shovel. And most importantly, kill Elias Bouchard as soon as possible-”

“-What?!-”

“-and in particular make sure you destroy the eyes, that’s vital to this whole thing. Turns out he’s actually a 200 year old scumbag named Jonah Magnus, you know, the founder of the institute, and by getting rid of him, you’ll save yourself a quite literal world of pain.”

“I don’t, what, I don’t think I could kill somebody-”

Martin felt a sharp tug towards the door, and he knew his time here was up. “Oh, wow, I really have changed, huh. Anyway, uh, final notes: you’re not going to end up alone and unloved and forgotten before you’re even fully gone, so feel free to lay that fear that occupies a disconcertingly large amount of your mental space to rest. Good luck, and try not to die!”

Before he can hear his other self’s response, he’s back in the wastelands he currently calls a twisted version of home, and Jon’s arms are wrapped around his neck in a fierce hug. As far as he can tell, nothing’s changed from his little literal trip down memory lane. There’s a few explanations for it, but since Martin’s not going to go out of his way trying to prove any of them, he choses to believe in the one that’s the most hopeful; that somewhere, out there, with some well timed words, there’s a universe that has turned out kinder than their own.

I’m not in the spn fandom, but I’ve seen some people say it’s homophobic while others are saying that destiel is canon. What’s that about?

oh boy where do I start

I’ll try to make it brief but you’ve gotta keep this stuff in mind:

this show went on... at least six years longer than it should have like post s8 it was obvious they were trying to cobble ideas together to air something and by s12 it jumped the shark to a level where it was just ridiculous, so basically everything that’s happened since more or less around then was filler to keep the breathing machine on until the cw laid it to rest

the whole deancas thing came out in a context where... right guys i’ve been there since SEASON THREE WAS AIRING I REMEMBER SHIT so let me tell you that basically until cas was introduced the only fandom ships with a traction were pretty much different declinations of win/cest with the j2 rpf stuff taking like... 99% and 99% of fps and rpf respectively because there was literally no other main and like... not everyone was gonna be into sibling/parental incest or rpf obviously but anyway when castiel showed up basically deancas was the only other m/m ship that actually wasn’t incest floating around and it went big very very soon

now, they had planned to keep cas around as a guest for like some ten eps and then he should have been replaced with another angel character who basically was a human woman who realized she actually was a fallen angel and cas should have died in like s4 ep 10 and anna (the other char) should have been dean’s guide into stopping the apocalypse except that the writers realized castiel was very well-received and the ratings spiked up so they went like QUICK QUICK SWITCH didn’t kill him off and basically gave him the part anna was supposed to have

now now, dean and anna fucked in part two of her two-parter introduction arc lmao or was it even part one but anyway she was supposed to be a love interest and they thought S5 would have been the last so you do your math

then: they’re at S15 and obviously they didn’t go there but

spn fandom also is like... toxicity™ incarnated like before voltron and su there was spn fandom, all the sides were terrible, the side that harassed the actors was worse and like.... sadly a bunch of exclusively j2 people who did harass the actors were also preminent winc/esters and put money into cons and there was a whole circus I can’t even begin getting into but like basically the least dramatic thing that could happen was that the cw would release pictures of dean and cas on their own for promotional reasons and the smm would get a bunch of verbal abuse tweets BECAUSE WHERE IS SAM YOU LOST THE SPIRIT OF THE SHOW

also there were campaigns to fire misha which almost worked for s7 then they saw the ratings dropped when he left and QUICK QUICK LET’S RESUSCITATE HIM lmao

also jensen always was like nah dean’s straight I act like they’re friends but he’s also the guy whose wife got continuously harassed by people who thought she was a cover for his secret rship with jared and so on and like he obviously thinks all shippers are out of control and honestly I can’t even blame him for it since from what I gather some ppl started trailing his kids after school I DON’T KNOW but that’s that

on the other side misha never made a mystery that he played it like cas was in love with dean like he said it at cons pretty much and like..... regardless of everything if there’s one thing misha collins wouldn’t do is milking it for clout bc honestly the guy is a solid ally and has a bi wife/used to be in a poly rship and always put his money where his mouth was re lgbt support so there’s that too

now... back in 2011 and s8 where there was a scene that was the exact EXACT same shit that happened when they canonized my marvel comics #1 ship (like srsly except the marvel ship kissed at the end of that scene) I went like ‘okay they know the undertones they’re obviously marching on it but seeing how this show is and how the fanbase is if it ever goes canon either it’s one sided or it ends with sam becoming a research guru and dean and cas drive off in the sunset hunting monsters without actually saying it out loud’ and it would have been like... soft-not-quite-there canonization but regardless I also said if that ever happens it’s gonna be in the last fifteen minutes of the finale because they don’t want the fandom drama to actually hit them in the face and how to put it, the writing has been a joke for seasons but I can’t even...... blame them for it bc honestly I was tired of fandom drama in S7 imagine working on that since 2005

so like I’m 100% not surprised that whatever’s going down is going down when it’s three episodes from the end actually I’m surprised it didn’t happen in the last ten minutes

now: if cas tells dean openly that he loves him and the context is that he got a curse that sends him to hell if he loves someone (idk I didn’t check the specifics BUT) then it is at least one-sided canon black on white and you can’t say they didn’t make it canon

if he goes to hell and he stays there and that’s it... that’s homophobic and bad and they could have just queerbaited their way through it

except that in this dumb show everyone went to hell twice and came back and cas was introduced as having saved dean from it bodily, so like... if this was a well-written show and they weren’t cowards they’d have dean doing the same for him and realizing he reciprocates getting over his 30+ years of emotional constipation and in that case... wouldn’t be qb

now I’m not betting money on that but they also did this... three eps before the end which sets them up to do it actually so I DON’T KNOW but before deciding it’s homophobic as a whole I’d see how it plays out also bc again this was nEVER gonna happen before the end but the fact that the end kept on being pushed and it wasn’t like... nine seasons but fifteen just made it look ridiculous and like it took them years to get there when if they had been axed in S10 when it would have been merciful.... maybe it wouldn’t have been

so like... either way I wanna see how it plays out but as stated, called in 2011 it could have gone like this the moment we got in the final stretch :)))

anyway: it’s confirmed canon on one side so it’s canon imvho

Executions will be represented by chunks of bold text. Most of these are incredibly gruesome, so I’d advise you skip them if you’re sensitive to that stuff!!!

Prologue: Rainy day mystery

It’s nothing too big, honestly. Really, there’s a gala inviting some of Inkopolis’ greatest fighters to this really swanky hotel. A rain storm comes and basically locks them in, causing the gang to have to stay the night in suites that seem to have been tailored to them specifically. The next day the rain has stopped, but everything is still locked. There’s no way in or out of the Hotel. At noon, they’re called to the ballroom and BOOM. There’s Monokuma.

Our favorite half and half bear explains that, the reason this gang in specific was invited was because all of them were prodigies in their fields other than Turf Wars/Ranked (i.e, Army is a god-tier actor, and Vintage's record for fastest case solved was 30 seconds), and from now on that would be their “Ultimate”. Monokuma also revealed that, the only way to escape the Hotel is to get away with murder. (and also the other rules)

And y’know how SDR2 had Monomi/Usami, and DR3 had the Monokubs? This edition has the Monosquids! Basically, every time someone dies, a Monosquid would be created with that person’s personality and some brief memories. In a sense, they ARE the deceased group members, in a mechanical/plush form. Also, Monokuma explains them as the souls of the dead reanimated. They appear the day after a trial, and all seem to hate Monokuma. And with the exception of the two murders that were accidents, almost all the victims hate their killer.

They also still have Ultimate labs kinda-each of their rooms, as stated before, are tailored to double as their lab. For instance, Mask’s room has a lot of tech gear, N-Pacer has a place she can study, Emperor’s just has a fucking throne...yeah.

Chapter 1- The line of Light and Darkness is thin (daily life)

As we check in on our gang in the morning, we learn multiple things. One, most-to-all contact to the outside world has been cut off; Mask can access the internet and all of that, but he can’t post on any forums or play any online games, even with his hacking. Prince can’t tap into his mental link with Regent or...really anyone. Two, that there’s plenty of weapons and other things for murder in multiple labs, and around the Hotel in general.

And three, Monokuma has a motive.

The first motive is simple; If you are to get away with murder, you can take one person with you, but they cannot be the one who the class votes in the class trial. Enticing, since multiple couples are present (Emperor and Gloves, for example), but the gang has made a collective decision to try to ignore it. Well, mostly.

This motive ate at someone, driving them absolutely mad. They COULD NOT stand being trapped in the hotel, they needed out!

So, a few mornings after the motive was introduced, Rider takes notice at the breakfast meeting that...well, someone’s missing.

The group splits up, searching the hotel top to bottom. Until, at last, a high shriek pierces the area, and a dreary announcement is played.

Ding dong, dong ding!

“A body has been discovered!”

Chapter 1- The line of Light and Darkness is thin (Deadly life)

The gang rushes to the scream. It would seem Army found the body.

Curled up in a fetal position, arm still clutched around his wound, Prince lays motionless on the floor of his room. Yellow ink stains the area, and a knife stained with the same liquid sits on the floor next to him.

Emperor is near hysterics. He doesn’t even try to hide his tears. Gloves takes him away from the scene, resolving to comfort their lover in their room during the investigation.

Speaking of investigation, Vintage steps up to the plate. Being the Ultimate Detective, he takes to the scene like a fish in water. He questions everyone, and searches through Prince’s room top to bottom.

By the time of the trial, there wasn’t a stone unturned in the hotel. It was almost...scary, how well Vintage seemed to be handling this.

During the trial, Vintage revealed three main suspects.

First, there was Aloha. The dancer had indeed got up in the middle of the night-he had been sharing a room with Army, and the actor confirmed it-to use the bathroom and get himself a drink of water. He passed by the kitchen, and thought he saw a knife on the rack missing. He got up at 11:25 P.M and returned to bed at 11:30. Once again, Army confirmed his alibi for this.

Second, was Aviators. Avi couldn’t sleep as well, so he spent most of the night walking through the hotel, exploring it. He did take a knife, but only in the case if he needed to defend himself. He had gotten out of bed at 10:50, took the knife somewhere at around 11, and returned it when he was heading back to his bed, at 5:00 AM.

And the third was Rider. Sure, the fighter was close friends with Prince, but it was still suspicious; Rider was reportedly awake at 2:00 AM, and got himself a quick snack before simply training in his room. He did hear someone return to their room at around 5:00, but didn’t go check. Looking back, he suspects it was just Avi.

So this was a game of alibis, and luck. Multiple suggestions were made; maybe Aloha took the knife and murdered Prince, washed his hands in the mage’s bathroom, and returned to bed. That was shot down, since the rooms don’t have running water at night (10:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Normal DR stuff), only the bathrooms in the hotel itself, and the kitchen.

Another was that Rider had taken the knife, but that was also shut down seeing as the period he was awake at wouldn’t line up with Aloha seeing the knife missing.

The third and final one was that Aviators had taken the knife, murdered Prince, and wait for a time when Rider wouldn’t hear him to return to his own room. This one... the only argument against it was that Rider would probably had still heard it. That counterclaim was shut down when Rider said he was taking a short rest when he heard the noise, and then went back to training-practicing hits on a punching bag.

So, after a final vote, Aviators was voted as the blackened. Luckily correctly, but it was much to Skull’s horror. Aviators was seen as a father figure to the S5 (It made sense, with Skull being the mother figure), and he had killed Prince in cold blood. and it didn’t help that Avi said he was planning on using the motive to escape with Skull.

And so, Aviators was dragged off to his execution. RIP big man

Ultimate delight-Ultimate Baker Aviator Jones’ execution executed.

Avi is dragged by a chain around his neck towards his death, located in...a giant oven? He’s strapped down to a cake pan, and the heat turns up.

And up...and up...and up.

Aviators is sweating bullets in the oven, strapped down to this hot pan and in a satin jacket, there’s nothing he can do except grit his teeth and bare it.

Except he can’t.

His head is pounding and he feels incredibly dizzy. He manages to sit up a little in his restraints as he vomits.

And, it would seem, Heatstroke got him. For after a few more minutes of struggling to escape...Aviators fell still.

The first execution of the killing game was a gruesome one.

Chapter 2-The butterfly effect (Daily life)

The gang gathered in the dining hall again. Though, both Skull and Emperor were in grief, and everyone was still shaken up from that execution.

This is when Monokuma introduced the Monosquids.

Two robot like things-one purple and one yellow-shaped like baby inklings-appeared. The yellow one ran and hid behind Emperor, shaking, and the purple one only hugged Skull’s leg.

Monokuma explained their deal; They can’t talk, but they are essentially the spirits of the deceased in a more robotic form. So, naturally, Emperor just hugged Prince tightly, still in grief

Monokuma also explained the next motive. This one being taken straight from DR1; Secrets!

Everyone had a slip of paper with a secret of theirs on it. If no one died in the next day, these secrets will be revealed to the world.

So yeah some people didn’t want those secrets to be revealed, but that doesn’t mean they’d kill for it!

But, well, someone did. Not on purpose, mind you.

At around noon, Vintage was exploring the hotel, he heard a gunshot. He knew the only firearms in the hotel were the ones in his room (as Vintage had a license to carry from his detective job). So, basically, he knew someone was screwed.

He rushed to his room, seen by a few people who took no notice.

It was only at dinner they noticed Vintage hadn’t left his room.

Cautiously, Emperor, Army, and Skull went to investigate. When they opened the door and their eyes rested on the sight...

Ding dong, dong ding!

A body has been discovered!!!

Chapter 2- The Butterfly effect (Deadly life)

It wasn’t AS gruesome as Prince’s death. It didn’t mean it was still scarring. There was a hole in Vintage’s forehead, cyan ink flowed out of it. In his hands, he held his gun.

Obviously, it looked like a suicide. He was holding his gun. But, Skull knew better. Despite not getting along well with Vintage, Skull knew that Vintage would never kill himself, even for something like this. Plus, there’s the lack of a note, all of that.

Upon closer examination, the group also finds freckles of some sort of white on the handle of the gun-before you say anything, it’s not drugs.

This lead to two possibilities; 1, Gloves. The gymnast has a thing of chalk dust for extra grip (not like they need it)

Or 2, Skull. He had been baking and using flour earlier that day. Some of that flour could have stuck on his hands and rubbed off after using the gun.

But, the alibis didn’t seem to help at all; Skull was alone while baking, and Gloves was just. Alone all day.

During the trial, it was back and fourth between people saying that Skull killed Vintage, or Gloves, or that it was a suicide at the dust was from something different.

The only reason the trial was solved was guilt.

Throughout the trial, one of the two suspects was looking more and more anxious, more and more guilty.

A few minutes before the end, they yelled, “I’M THE BLACKENED!”

It was Gloves.

They explained what happened-They had found Vintage’s gun lying around somewhere and decided to return it. The thing is, they have no idea how guns work. So they accidentally triggered it. And when Vintage walked in, the same thing happened. Gloves panicked and put it in his hand.

Needless to say, Emperor broke down again. The two closest people in his life, dead or sentenced to it!

Emperor insisted it was Skull. He knew Gloves couldn’t hurt a fly and yet....!

Gloves was the blackened. But they weren’t about to go down without a fight.

They pressed a kiss on Emperor’s lips. It was a promise. It meant “I’ll see you soon”

And they raced down the hall in an attempt to get free.

Gloves ran down the hallway, not stopping for anything.

Monokuma pressed a button, and pits opened up, showing falls onto spikes down below. So, Gloves got creative.

They leaped up and took hold of support beams, swinging their way across the hall.

But the last one.. The last one was weak, and broke under Gloves’ weight, sending them falling to their death

They collapsed onto the spikes, one impaling them through their stomach, sending neon green ink everywhere.

The second victim, Gloves Elaris, had fallen dead.

Long Way Home, Ch. 3

Rafael x Reader. AU; SVU x Good Wife. Set post s5 Good Wife, Dramatics Your Honor. References: s3, e.21 of TGW. CW: continued angst.

Three months had passed. You settled into your new home and your new job. You became friendly with the SVU squad easily. The cases were intense; much different than what you were used to before. Sometimes justice wasn’t always had and you grappled with that. Sometimes you skimmed the legal/illegal line of getting what you needed which drove Barba occasionally into a tizzy. You threw yourself into your work, trying to stuff down and ignore the many objectionable feelings that were rooted deep down.

You woke up to to your phone buzzing. It was a bunch of texts sent in rapid succession from Carmen.

[Carmen, 7:30 AM: Barba needs you at SVU]

[Carmen, 7:31 AM: FYI he’s in a mood]

[Carmen, 7:32 AM: He’s already on his way there]

Your stomach flopped a bit and you sighed. Your boss was a wonderful man, but when he was in a mood, he could be pretty cantankerous. You could begin to feel a dull throb in your head form.

After a quick shower, and popping some aspirin, you made your way to the 16th precinct. The elevator doors opened and you were face to face with a tall, brunette woman.

“Morning Liv,” you greeted warmly. Liv smiled.

“Morning Y/F/N,” She made her way into the elevator as you stepped out. She held her arm over the elevator door. “I hate to bail but there’s an issue with Noah and his school. I’ll be back later. Barba is already here; he’s in my office.”

The elevator started to ring. Olivia gave a small but warm smile. You nodded your goodbye and made your way towards Liv’s office.

As you made your way over, you bumped into Carisi who was also heading towards Liv’s office.

“Morning Y/F/N,” Carisi greeted you brightly. “Here for Barba?”

“Hey Sonny,” you greeted in a sing-song manner as you both entered Liv’s office.

Your boss was going though a stack of papers on Liv’s desk. He looked up at the two of you, and sighed before taking a swig of coffee from the cup in his hand.

“Carisi, Y/F/N,” Rafael clipped. “Patrick Roonery was convicted of raping and murdering his boss’ wife 13 years ago. New DNA evidence has exonerated him. However, McCoy wants me to investigate further, because the judge may have withheld some evidence to secure the conviction. I need you Y/F/N to speak with the original jury members and see if they remember anything odd. Carisi go with Y/F/N and use that recently acquired law degree.”

Rafael sighed, continuing. “If this is true, this could have huge repercussions. I have never been more jaded by the bench than I have now. Cuesta is a well respected judge. He’s known in the community. This won’t be easy.”

“On it,” Carisi affirmed. You nodded, before furrowing your brow. “You okay?” he asked.

“Yeah, just a headache and my stomach is a little off. I am just hungry. No time to grab anything to eat. I’ll just hit up the break room before we leave,” you replied.

Amanda poked her head and knocked. “Barba, we got the files from the Cuesta hearing. It’s a mess. I set it up in the spare interview room so you can start to go through everything,” she sighed.

Amanda was not kidding when she said the file was a mess. Something did immediately appear to be off. You just wasn’t sure as to what.

Grabbing the list of jurors and their addresses that Carisi just printed out, you headed out with him to interview.

Rafael watched you exit. “I like her, she’s a good fit,” he remarked to Amanda.

“Shame what happened to her husband,” Amanda replied with a sad smile. “Just awful.”

Rafael paused for a minute before resuming re-stacking the papers into the evidence box. “What did you say?”

“She didn’t tell you?” Amanda asked, her accent twinging. “Her husband was that hot shot lawyer from Chicago who was murdered by his client in the courtroom. Will... something,” she trailed off.

Rafael shook his head. “Gardner?” He questioned.

“Him! That’s right,” Amanda tapped her temple. That’s why she’s out here.”

“And she just told you all of this?” Rafael pressed Amanda.

“No. I just remember when it happened; there was a picture of them in the paper. I recognized her almost immediately. But she hasn’t said anything so I didn’t want to. Not my place, you know?”

Later that afternoon, you and Carisi were on the way to the last juror’s residence.

“After this gent, how about we go get some food? I know a great pizza joint two blocks over,” Carisi replied with a grin.

You walked up the front stoop of a Brooklyn brownstone with Carisi. “Sounds good, I could use something to eat. Your dime, not mine,” you teased.

You found the apartment and buzzed. After a few subsequent buzzes, no one answered. Carisi looked up at the top of building. “Let’s go grab a bite and then come back; maybe we will catch them on the way back.”

At that moment, the doors opened and a man stepped out.

“Excuse me,” he replied, walking past you. You caught a whiff of his cologne and your world stopped in its tracks. The scent of the stranger’s cologne - Will’s cologne - overtook your senses. Your stomach churned and you could hear your heart pounding in your ears.

Carisi began talking to the man, initially oblivious to your discomfort. You leaned over on the railing, your eyes brimming and you willed yourself to not upchuck the contents of your stomach.

“Y/N? You okay? Y/N?” Carisi tapped your shoulder.

You took a breath and stood straight, nodding, while wiping your eyes. “Yes,” you replied shakily. “I—“ you started before promptly throwing up on Carisi’s leather shoes.

Your eyes widened in horror. “I am so sorry,” you apologized.

Carisi raised his hand up. “Well, my appetite is over. Let’s head to that shop anyway so we can get you a soda and I can get cleaned up and you can tell me what that was about.”

Carisi listened intently as you spilled everything that had been kept in for the past few months: the shooting, the funeral, the decision to get away from everyone who seemed to mollycoddle you immediately after, the intense desire to step away and create a whole new life back home.

“I am really sorry about your shoes. Take them to be cleaned and send me the bill,” you apologized before taking a long sip of the 7Up Carisi grabbed from the pizza-shop refrigerator.

“Y/N,” Carisi replied gently while reaching out to touch your hand. “It’s fine; I am really sorry about what happened to your husband. I read some of his law reviews at Fordham. He was damn fine lawyer.”

You nodded in agreement. “We were planning the next phase of our lives. I know tomorrow is never promised but I just didn’t think it would happen to me.”

Carisi reached over and wiped the lone tear that had fallen on your cheek with a greasy tissue. “Whatever you need Y/N, you can count on me, the squad; we’ve got you.”

Countdown to Season 6 Raven/Murphy #4 - They Listen To Each Other & Are Better For It

I’m back and we’ve got five days to go! This is a completely random countdown until the 4/30 premiere of S6 of The 100, and if you’ve missed the previous posts, here they are - #1, #2, #3 . These two characters are my favorites and I invest way too much of my mental space contemplating their character motivations, but what the hell - I’m having fun!

Today I wanna look at instances when Raven & Murphy listen to each other and why I think it’s such a big part of their dynamic and what that means for them. They’re in a place of tentative friendship towards the end of S4 and then definite friendship/found family dynamics in S5 with the added bonus of each of them ready to die for the other (S5 has multiple examples of both of them being willing to put themselves in clear and obvious danger for each other and/or the rest of their friends), which is great, and I would expect that their caring feelings for each other WOULD mean that they were certainly open to hearing the other person’s perspective.

But it’s also interesting to me how different they are on the surface when it comes to “smarts”. Raven is the typical version of smart - practical, studied, logical, and it’s canon that most people consider her a genius as well as somewhat naturally gifted in this area. She knows something about everything, and is definitely the go-to person you want on your team when it comes to technical problems and how not to die. Murphy doesn’t have these advantages - it’s canon that he was locked up in the Sky Box early, possibly missing out on schooling, and he’s a poor speller which lends to the lack of education theory and/or a learning disability. He’s more talented in the street smarts aspect of life, and I’d venture that he’s also better than Raven when it comes to reading people - Murphy has a knack for understanding what motivates a person and can manipulate a situation to his advantage because of it (plenty of examples of this in the show). This ties in to his survival instincts. Although neither of them are 100% one thing or the other, there’s a good argument to be had (in my opinion, anyway), that Raven is more THINKING/LOGIC and Murphy is more FEELING/INTUITION.

So what does that have to do with anything? Well to me it says a few things. In 4x06, the two are still adversarial (omg I love these scenes) and Raven’s literally killing herself by using her ALIE brain to try to find answers about making nightblood in space & landing the rocket. She has no real reason to think that Murphy, who honestly knows nothing about the complex scenarios she’s trying to figure out, will be able to provide her with any kind of solution. However, she listens to him anyway, and it’s HIS input that ultimately leads to the plan that solves the problem (Perfect sucks - Maybe perfect is your problem - Screw the computer, Raven, fly it yourself). And Raven is absolutely aware that Murphy’s contribution is the tipping point, which is why she deliberately thanks him even though things are overly strained between them. This situation worked out because they worked together and listened to the other POV.

In 5x03, Murphy clearly believes that killing the prisoners in cryo is the best plan (valid reasons). He isn’t budging from this position but eventually lets Bellamy & Raven convince him to “be good guys”. IMHO this stems partly from faith in Raven’s ability to block the cryo signal from the ground so that their group does have control, and from Murphy’s likely belief that both Raven and Bellamy are somehow ‘better’ than him so he gives in to their position. If we take this scene into consideration with those in 5x04, where Murphy questions Raven’s ability to kill the prisoners - not in a mean way but in a ‘this is a lot to deal with’ way and are you sure you can do it - and she therefore thinks harder about it and eventually confesses to him that she’s not sure she can do it, these are more signs of listening to each other’s POV and letting it influence them and in fact, change their own positions. In addition, he convinces her she needs some downtime (soccer) even though at first she thinks he’s being ridiculous. After her saying she may not be able to pull the lever and he says that’s why he will, we then get the actual scenario of one of them having to do it. At first, Murphy hesitates, so Raven gets frustrated and prepares to do it herself, but Murphy stops her at the last minute, and instead of pushing past him, she listens when he demands she wait and says “I’m not ready to die, are you?” and she listens to his sudden plan instead. She throws the whole agreed-on plan out the window just on his say-so, suggesting that what he says carries a lot of weight for her. The combined take away from all of these interactions to me says that when they work together & listen to the other POV, things work out.

Not to mention, let’s talk about how HUGE it is that Raven & Murphy manage to subvert the lever scenario that Bellamy & Clarke also faced with regard to Mt. Weather. In this scene, they manage to actively “be the good guys” by refusing to kill people in their sleep. They don’t know if it’s going to be the right decision or not, but either way, their own lives are at risk. Still - they break the cycle here and it leads to Bellamy ultimately stopping Madi from killing the alive cryo-criminals and telling her that she “can be better than them, can be better than us”. Then Madi tells Clarke “first we save their lives, then we let them prove they deserve it”. This could not have happened if Raven & Murphy killed all the prisoners in cryo, and it was because they worked together and listened to each other that they were able to do better than they might have on their own.

There’s smaller instances where one of them listens to the other, stuff in S4 and again in S5, but ultimately what I find most interesting is thinking about WHY do they listen to each other? Part of it is past behavior, of course - Raven being right in the past indicating she has a probability of being right in the future, their friendship lending them the mutual desire to take each other’s opinion into consideration, even having respect for what abilities they each bring to the table could come into play... but I also come back to how they fill in each other’s WEAKNESSES.

When Raven is being too logical, too stuck in her head and can’t see the forest for the trees, it’s Murphy who pulls her back down and reminds her that sometimes the simple solution works best and that even geniuses need a break and she shouldn’t have to carry the burden all the time. And while Murphy often jokes or slacks off and can’t seem to be bothered to put effort into things, it’s Raven who takes him seriously by not even questioning his input or scoffing that he’d even bother giving it when obviously he isn’t as smart, instead giving it solid consideration just like she would everyone else and often letting him convince her, therefore proving that he IS valuable and that what HE says carries a lot of weight too.

These two working together as a team makes them both BETTER, more effective. When they’re not fighting (tho lemme be honest I like it when they fight... for reasons), they click with regard to their weaknesses & strengths, they clearly trust each other both in word and action and these interactions provide them both with BALANCE in their own personalities AND in the overall themes of the show, and I am so here for it.

I have said plenty of times before that I started shipping these two in 1x10 because of that look in the Dropship, and that is true because I disliked Finn so much and wanted something better/deeper for Raven, but essentially it was also a desire to see two complicated, fascinating characters who clearly had mega backstory and lots of baggage interact with each other so I could sit back and watch the fireworks. And I have been truly enjoying the heck out of it since I finally got it. Of course I want MORE - I’m very greedy - but guys... it’s canon that they work better when they’re a team, that they support and listen to each other and value each other’s input, and that does make me pretty happy. Not to mention... the whole idea of balance, ying/yang, strength/weakness and how all those themes apply in the 100 absolutely lends itself to an entirely different sort of analysis about soulmates, huh?

So, this is a question regarding writing choices and not a ship thing at all so I hope answering it doesn't get you any hate. What do you think of the decision to give us Echo's "backstory" and issues with her past in season 6 and not sooner? Do you think it was always the plan, or is this a response to the backlash regarding her characterization in season 5? It just seems kind of odd to me pacing wise, unless we're getting her death or some other dramatic change from her in s6.

I think that fandom’s belief in their effect on the story is greatly exaggerated. I just don’t think that the writer’s responses to fandom’s upsets are all that important. Yes they do respond to what fandom does. But I don’t really see that in major storylines, but rather in smaller gestures, minor storylines that don’t affect the plot or themes or main relationships. They adjust, they don’t really change.

I think also that people are incorrect about the writer’s intentions in regards to Echo. We get a lot of “they wanted us to be invested in B/E,” but as far as I can see, if they wanted us to be invested in endgame B/E, they would have shown us how it happened, how they were together, rather than dropping it in our laps in OPPOSITION to 30 minutes of Clarke being alone and tortured and missing Bellamy and wanting him back. Compare and contrast the the storylines. How do they affect each other? If they spend the first half of the episode ENTIRELY on Clarke’s pov, they are not telling you that Echo’s romance is the thing to be rooting for.. They want your response to be, “OH NO! Clarke!”

They are COURTING that. And to make it a REAL worry, they have to make B/E a REAL danger. It has to be a REAL relationship. Not as primary as Bellarke, but real to Bellamy. So we see his investment in it, we see them treating each other well, but we don’t really see how it developed or their tie.

STILL, we’re seeing Clarke’s reaction to B/E. We’re seeing Octavia’s reaction to B/E, and THOSE are the most important reactions. Because it’s about Bellamy’s relationship with Clarke and with Octavia and how Echo is an obstacle to BOTH. How do they feel about it? Shock. Anger. Sorrow. Loss. Loneliness. Betrayal. Hate. How does Echo feel about them? She’s worried about Octavia and has NO reaction to Clarke and Bellamy.

What is the story about? Clarke. Octavia. Bellarke. The Blake Siblings.

Why give backstory in season 6? Because it’s part of the story? Did people expect Echo to disappear because they didn’t want her to be with Bellamy? Well I know for a fact they did, because before season 5 even started, people said they were going to stop watching until she did. They tried to erase her from the narrative completely and when that didn’t work, they tried to say that she was evil, wrong, bad, a villain, and Bellamy was OOC for the simple act of protecting her and being loyal as if she was family. So. People thought that OOC means his IN CHARACTER loyalty and protectiveness was OOC if it was directed towards someone they didn’t like. That’s not how character works.

There are actually A LOT of storylines that have not been fully explored in season 5. And I think there’s a simple reason for that. Because they are telling story of the reunion of all our heroes over the course of TWO seasons. Bellarke, The Blake siblings, Kabby, Memori, Marper, Zaven, Princess Mechanic, Team Cockroach, B/E, Bellamy x Miller, Clarke x Madi, Bellamy x Madi, Clarke x Madi x Bellamy, Madi x spacekru. All these relationship stories are being stretched out over two seasons.

And that includes the character stories. Bellamy’s hero’s journey, Clarke’s hero’s journey, Murphy’s acceptance of himself, Abby’s struggle with addiction, Monty’s desire for peace, Madi’s ascension, Raven facing her failure to get them down to earth, Emori’s confidence in her skills, Kane’s desire for peace, AND ECHO’S STORY OF BELONGING AND LOYALTY AND FAMILY.

What we have here are a LOT of stories about character that have been developing in the return of humanity to the surface and the struggles over the last spot of livable earth. The battle for Eden is over, but the character and relationship journeys that started in s5, are mostly not over. Those will continue in season 6.

S5 dealt with the Bellarke reunion and the Blake reunion, memori’s relationship struggles, Madi wanting freedom from Clarke, Murphy’s self esteem problem, Monty’s desire to make algae not war, Zaven, Marper’s happily ever after ending, Bellamy’s hero’s journey

S6 has these stories on deck. Bellarke romance, B/E break up, Blake sibling reconnection. Octavia redemption (might take longer than one season.) Kabby. Princess Mechanic, Millamy. Clarke’s hero’s journey. Madi being heda, Raven’s redemption/forgiveness, Being the good guy. And what’s up with Echo.

They are PACING their stories. Some were told in season 5, like marper and memori. Some were broken up in the middle, like Bellarke and the Blakes. Some were set up for season 6, like princess mechanic, AND like Echo and b/e’s break up. First off, there are only TWO stories that could happen with b/e, because there is no conflict in their relationship, it’s in a stasis. They either choose to be with each other, or they break up. There’s no narrative tension there except for with Clarke and Octavia. So he either says, “no I choose Echo,” or he says, “I do not choose Echo.” And actually, he kind of did not choose Echo with Octavia. He chose his sister. But will he do the same w Clarke? Well, he chose Clarke over Octavia, so….This is set up. Will it be an easy choice? No. But it’s not really a head choice. It’s a heart choice, as much as he’s trying to make it a head choice.

I’m sorry. I feel like I’m going on too long, but maybe I’m not. When fandom talks about Echo, they seem to be focused on shipping and only relate her story to B/E and C/B/E and Bellarke. And they have a lot of feelings about that which take precedence.

But that’s not the story I’m seeing. B/E was used as an obstacle with the Blakes and with Bellarke. But otherwise, Echo’s story had almost nothing to do with Bellamy. She was with spacekru and raven and murphy. She was dealing with being a spy again, the past coming back, a new heda, eligius, questions of ethics and pragmatism. And a little bit of loneliness and longing for b/e, but not that much.

When people take the focus off of the main characters (Clarke, Bellamy, Octavia) and put it onto Echo, they are losing the thread of the story. They’re losing the MEANING of it. This is one of the reasons that POV is important. WHOSE STORY IS IT?

Not teling Echo’s story is a choice that keeps us focused on Clarke and Bellarke and the Blakes. Because THEY are the story. Echo is a secondary character, and apparenlty they NEED to tell her story because the fandom has no clue who she is or what her point in the story is, because when looked at from the romance story of B/E, there’s nothing. Or little. I mean, that’s because they’re not telling the romance story of B/E.

And here’s my guess. They won’t be telling it in s6 either. The story Echo has started is about BELONGING. And FAMILY. And LOYALTY. That’s what JR said it was, and that’s what is on screen.

So the backstory will be about that. And it’s going to be heavily influenced by Bellamy’s feelings for Clarke, and spacekru’s feelings for Clarke, all of whom have a closer relationship to her than Echo. KNOWING that Clarke basically gave up her place in spacekru so Echo could have it. She gave up her helmet so Echo could live. She thought she was dying, so maybe didn’t fight as hard to get back to the ship.

So here’s the thing. The pacing IS weird. That means. Step back and figure out what’s up with the pacing. The lack of Echo story in s5 did not fit a b/e romance story. So back up and check if the theory of b/e romance works. It doesn’t. BUT it DOES work if the b/e romance is the romantic obstacle leg of a c/b/e love triangle. It works very well and fits the trope perfectly. Adding in some “suddenly alive” and “widower” “the notebook” and “second chance” tropes.

It IS possible that they’re getting ready to kill off Echo, and so give her backstory to gain the audience’s empathy for her, like they did with Finn. It’s also possible that she’s getting her own backstory about loyalty, family, belonging, and HER past which was as a child soldier, prized slave assassin of azgeda. Her life was GIVEN to the throne. Like Ontari who went psychotic. And I will be honest, that if I think about who Echo’s character is in totality, not just as a love interest, then what I see is a great possibility that we’ll be dealing with the issue of slavery on the two suns planet. And they will use Echo’s backstory to give us a connection to that. And whether they give us some b/e backstory I don’t know. But we do know that there was a reaper on set last season. All the reapers are 131 years long dead. We know that Echo was captured by MW, likely by reapers. And we’ve seen the reaper connections with all of our other main characters (the only other possibility is Indra, but we don’t even know if she’ll be on the planet,) so my speculation is we’ll get Echo’s backstory before she met Bellamy in mw. It won’t be about Bellamy or b/e. It will be about Echo, and humanity, and how she was never of value, she was expendable, which has ALSO been a theme in this show.

No. I don’t think Echo’s backstory in s6 will be weird. She’s all wrapped up with multiple themes and storylines in this show and has been since s2.

Episode 2 - "Fuck I’m on the cursed tribe" ~Moth

Dhsjdjsjskksks. First tribal done. We just finished the taboo challenge ... A good bonding experience with my tribe. However, I have a feeling we lost. 😂😂😂😂😂😂 The fact that I was the guesser. Rip.

I filmed confessionals but my internet got disconnected hahaha so that's neat. Hopefully there will be youtube videos here soon, but new update Jodi and I are in alliances with Dennis and brayden separately which I think would be hilarious if they were also in am alliance together. And it will be funny it my internet is still out for the challenge tomorrow since I'm the guesser 😆 whoops

So this is the beginning of round 2 and here are my thoughts. Might purposely not be helpful in the taboo challenge lol but i have to do it in a way that doesn't show im throwing it? tbh i say this now but when i start playing the urge to win comes in ugh but i just wanna vote one of these people out. I also took a stroll through the wiki page for this org and i love that some of these people (esp brayden and amy) have played before and their stats are there like yassss give me ammunition yassss!!!! anywho i dont care if we win or lose tomorrow i think i set myself up nicely within the tribe and i still really dont think any of these people won the hunt challenge on my tribe but again who knowssss. if we lose the logic would probably be go for josh or ginny aka the least active people buttt i dont think so like i don't wanna go the boring route. i need to keep josh close to get to merge with him we have friends on the other tribeeeeeee so i need them to survive and i need him and i to survive till we swap or merge to link up. im also trying to win a hunt challenge but my god y'all have me fucked up!!!!!!!!! i guess we shall see what happens tomorrowwwwww

It was nice sitting the challenge out, I'm busy tomorrow and the fact that they could complete it is good for me. Also, if we lose, nobody can blame me for the loss. Only drawback is it appears to me some people can be getting close by bonding over funny things in a game. I have to go back and see who may be close, I don't think I'm next on the chopping block, but I'm definitely not in control. To me, I do not need to be number one on this tribe, I just need to survive the next tribal and hopefully make it to the swap at 14 or 15.

HEY SO KIND OF A LOT OF DEVELOPMENTS TO MY GAME we didn't lose first challenge!! thats great. whatever. no tribal. I've been trying to connect with fellow tribemates but overall we're all pretty quiet. I did have a small 30 minute call with Jay where we kinda connected on somewhat of a game level. I kinda get the vibe that he may not fully trust me or he might see my as a threat, but I want to work with him. I also really like Anastasia and Elle, I think I can connect with them more on a more genuine level. Perfect scenario for me would be setting up a trio alliance of Me + Elle + Anastasia, and then having Jay on the side as my actual #1. idk if I can pull that off, but that was my plan heading into round 2 BUT. AS ROUND 2 STARTED, MY GAY ASS WON THE HUNT CHALLENGE. AMAZING. idk HOW I managed it because like?? I finished and found the hidden link within like 20 minutes? Statistically very unlikely BUT I'm so glad I did it. I WON A SAFETY WITHOUT POWER. It's kinda like a hidden immunity idol, except slightly worse because I can't actually partake in tribal at all. we went ahead and competed in the Taboo challenge last night and boy it was kinda rough. We lost a LOTTA points because we kept accidentally saying forbidden words (I lost us 2 points, woops). But we ended up with a semi decent score. Elle did an amazing job guessing. I really hope we can pull this out. SO YEAH SORRY THATS KIND OF A LOT. OVERALL I FEEL LIKE IM IN A DECENT POSITION, WAY BETTER NOW THAT I HAVE A SWP. I wanna further my position in the game with some allies now. That's my next biggest goal. toodles!!!

So I've figured out that Amy is a comp beast based on us discussing our old seasons and how she did in those: she always talks down her abilities because she's worried she's being painted as a big challenge threat, but I don't think she realizes that doesn't matter to me at all. Ultimately, I think she needed to be at tonight's challenge more than me, so I decided it's ok to sit out since I'm sitting out only because somebody has to, not because I don't want to play. In tribal challenges, it means she'll help keep us winning tribal immunity, and further down the line, if anything, I'll be using her as my "Ken" and if she wins everything, it'll keep immunity away from people I want out.

I think I did much better in Taboo than I did in endurance, so I'm happy about that. Hopefully my performance this round can help me redeem myself with my tribemates.

So! We did the Taboo challenge and got second place, probs wouldve got first if we didnt get deductions but also we did so good so whatever 😂. I definitely kinda pushed for us to do the challenge last night bc it's Dylan's birthday and I didn't want to have to like, be anywhere specifically today 😅. SO. Here’s the rundown: We lost. Again. Pushing for Shaad to go. Moth, Jared, and Danny all agree with him going. So far I’m getting good vibes with everyone. Danny says he gets along with Jared well and doesn’t talk to Moth that much. Plus, Jared, Moth and I have that little alliance. Jared and I also get along well. Worried for Moth as she doesn’t seem to message a lot. This tribal... I’m feeling safe. I might even make an alliance with Jared, Danny and I. Worst case scenario for next challenge we lose and Moth goes.

Yay we won again! Anyways, Dennis messaged me tonight talking about how everybody else knows each other from playing Stings games before. He said he checked the series wiki and got freaked out and told me that we're two newbies amongst vets. While he's telling the truth, I'm actually not too panicked because 1) I actually checked out the wiki before he told me about it and 2) I have pretty decent relationship with Amy to incentivize her to keep me around. I worked tightly with Amy for the specific reason that I knew she'll have others to work with, and for her to keep me as a loyal number. I also know that she was runner up of another series and she already recognizes the target on her, so I doubt she wants to risk me putting a bigger one. So, tbh I've done some research about some previous seasons and I noticed Moth and Jessica have played together before. Moth still has not talked to me but Jessica has been overly friendly. I know they have a group message with Jared and I know he can be the split vote between what happens in our tribal tomorrow. Jared claims he has voted for Moth but we will truly see tomorrow. But honestly, if he chooses us, then Jessica is next unless the tribe swap or merge has happened.

Also with that research, I've peeped there's other connections in other tribes from previous games so this is gonna be interesting.

I chose Jared to work with mostly because I see he can play strategy.

Fools tribe is bad at playing games. And its perfect for me because I am safe but i am wishing for drama bcs its fun. rn we are doing small talk and being so nice to each other. I think we will form an alliance officially soon but i am too awkward or like i dont know how to say it or bring it up.

Jodi: Jodi remains at the top of the tribe for much of the same reason as last round. Now, she is even in two alliances with no one wanting to come for her nor do they see her as playing both alliances. Hopefully Jodi’s quick alliance making and constant worrying will help strengthen her defenses in the later rounds to come when people will be looking at her more closely.

Amy: Amy is still playing that stellar UTR game. No one seems to register her as a threat despite their access to the wiki and her performance in the challenge. Her social game is just too strong. Additionally, her greater willingness to work with Dennis than Jodi’s willingness to work with him may provide some good allies for Amy if she ever wants to distance herself from Jodi.

Brayden: Brayden rises in the rankings from last round as he has become more closely aligned with Amy and Jodi. The trio seem to see themselves as the only “active” ones on their tribe and are very quick to bond. Additionally, unlike Dennis, Brayden is not viewed with suspicion by either Jodi or Amy. They definitely feel more like a core alliance than they did with Dennis. Furthermore, Brayden is poised to get the people he wants gone out of this game. He is targeting Josh and Dennis which are good targets, especially the latter. All it takes is for Brayden to push a little for Dennis and I am sure the two girls will take the bait. Finally, Brayden’s connection with Ginnifer is very beneficial since he seems to be the only one willing to work with her at the moment. This gives him a very easy ally and Ginnifer doesn’t have much of a choice besides working closely with him. It is certainly an easy number for Brayden if he ever wanted to backstab Jodi or Amy in the future.

Josh: What lands Josh here is that he performed well in the challenge and is easy to like. Interacting with Josh on calls is always a pleasure. However, by not being part of that main trio, he is in danger of being voted out on a whim. Despite that, he seems to be, in my eyes, the least likely out of the bottom 3 to be voted out. Additionally, there is paranoia around people’s “experience” with ORGs surrounding these bottom 3 from others (despite the fact that the top 3 is composed of 2 people with ORG experience). Josh gets this heat the least.

Dennis: Dennis is in real danger if this tribe goes to tribal council. If Brayden pushes hard enough, Jodi can be easily swayed into turning on Dennis. He needs to back off with the strategy talk and just be more social. What saves him from last is that he is in that alliance with Jodi and Amy. This might make Jodi hesitant about targeting Dennis so soon as she may see him as a number. Additionally, Amy does seem keen on keeping Dennis around for a little while which would help his longevity. Hopefully Dennis can realize people’s perceptions of him before it is too late considering that he gives great confessionals and is one of my favorite players this season.

Ginnifer: Ginnifer may be on the bottom, but she definitely has a chance at avoiding being voted out. Most talk around Ginny is about how she is hard to socialize with, but I am sure, when the strategic game starts becoming more important, she can navigate out of this position. After all, she does have Brayden advocating for her which can definitely help. She would need to push for Dennis if she wants to survive until the swap at this point.

Fools

Jared: He takes the number 1 spot on this tribe as he is working with both “sides.” He is serving as the perfect double agent for Danny and Shaad. Additionally, he is making the smart move of getting rid of an obvious duo wherein he was the third wheel of that alliance. He has a great strategic mind on his shoulders, but is it too early for him to show that off? Regardless, he has earned this top spot by avoiding the target cleanly and betraying his allies perfectly. Jared is definitely a contender for the winner spot as he has shown some excellent gameplay these past two rounds.

Danny: Danny has done well in avoiding the target this round as well. He seems to be more sociable and active than Shaad which is the main reason that he is not the one getting Jessica’s and Moth’s vote. Additionally, he was the one that brought Jessica’s and Moth’s pre-existing relationship to Jared’s attention which caused this flip to happen in the first place. Finally, Danny made an excellent move by pairing himself with Jared as this duo could be something fearsome to go up against in the future. The cards are being laid out for a force to be reckoned with and I am excited to see what Danny will do in the future.

Shaad: It is hard to tell if Shaad did anything himself to avoid being voted out, but, regardless, he did something right by aligning with Danny and Jared instead of ratting to Jessica and Moth. In fact, even if he does rat, he will still land himself at number 3. He is not going to get voted out here, and has an established alliance moving forward. And now that he is putting more focus on the game, I am happily anticipating what he can accomplish now.

Jessica: Jessica is being blindsided tonight. However, at the very least, she is not the one going. Her performance in challenges have helped her avoid the target for the time being. Here we can see that the boys weren’t inactive, they were just inactive with her which spells doom for Jessica if this tribe goes to tribal council again. Unfortunately, the boys found out about her prior connection with Moth. The only thing Jessica could have done was to distance herself from Moth at the beginning of the game, but that seemed unlikely since people were inactive with her. I hope Jessica is able to survive until a swap because it would be devastating to see her go so early.

Moth: There is nothing Moth did that landed them here. It was just an unfortunate circumstance wherein they are targeted because of a prior connection. Additionally, I doubt Moth is going to see this coming.

S.E.E.S.

Colin: With an advantage in his hands and him being the most popular bachelor on his tribe, Colin is quick to make allies and his allies like it that way. It feels as if everyone wants to ally with Colin. His activity in the earlier stages of the game have definitely born fruit.

Elle: Similar to Colin, everyone wants to work with Elle. Her social game is just that strong. Nothing much else to say besides what I said before, but the challenge definitely helped raise Elle’s standings in the tribe.

Anastasia: Similar to last round. Nothing much to say.

Jay: He is keeping out of the spotlight which is good.

Babs: No developments. Still viewed in the same way though has noticeably been less unhinged in the tribe chat.

Jennifer: Still the same as last time: seemingly inactive and might be targeted for it.

A Totally Objective and Unemotional Recap of Teen Wolf Episode 6x12: Raw Talent

@wellsjahasghost hasn’t gotten a chance to watch the episode yet, so I told her I’d write her a recap, and....... yeah, this is about as far from objective as it gets.

friends, i really hated this episode, and this recap is almost entirely negative, so if you really liked the episode, you probably want to skip this post lol. if you're also bitter and want to enjoy 2.5k of someone else ranting, please read on!

*ahem*

The show begins. The0 R@eken, sleeping in his car because he is homeless and friendless and irredeemable, is awoken multiple times, in multiple locations and at multiple times of day, by police officers rapping on his window and telling him to get up and leave. It takes me three minutes to figure out that it's him for sure because he's grown out his hair a bit to look more Boyish, Unkempt, and Vulnerable and I can no longer tell white boys on Teen Wolf apart. By the time I've reached 95% certainty that it is, in fact, the white boy who literally killed Scott and is still stanned by tw fans everywhere, he's waking up in the middle of the night to a spider crawling on his hand. He watches it, fascinated and unafraid, probably because he's like "yo this thing looks as evil as I am lolol." Then the spider burrows under his skin.

Cue The0 breaking into Deaton's vet office to stab the spider crawling around in his back with a scalpel and pull it out of him. Cue me gagging. Then the spider disappears in a puff of black smoke/gunpowder dust bc like... why not.

The police montage continues. And continues. I'm bored. Then - gasp! - the next police are nOt In fAcT CoPs bUt mEN wItH gUnS wHo wAnT To kiLL thE0. They shoot into his car repeatedly, and the scene ends.

(This would be a good cliffhanger if tw trailers didn't already show him appearing in future episodes smh.)

I refuse to watch the episode again, so I'm just going to say that I'm pretty sure the mcmartate scene is next. I'm not going to recap it fully because it was actually pretty good and this recap is not about Accuracy, it's about Salt. In short, the Scott laser scene happens but it turns out that the lasers were actually police flashlight beams (why were they in the woods?!?! who the heck knows. oh wait p@rrish exists, i forgot. maybe he told them about getting beat up by a hellhound wearing matching boxer briefs) and he was hallucinating. he's panicked enough to wolf out before he realizes it's a hallucination and the entire police department sees his eyes glowing red. great great great my son is hallucinating yET AGAIN, i really needed him to suffer more. also he pockets the Argent bullet shell case and mcmartate decides to talk to Chris Argent before they involve Papa Stilinski.

Mcmartate is a Good group. "Maybe this episode won't be so bad," I think.

*sighs*

idk what order the next scenes happen in, so i'm just going to tackle each subplot separately lol.

2.0:

Mason and Liam are chatting in the boys' locker room before lacrosse practice about the supernatural evil threatening Beacon Hills, surrounded by tons of freshmen who could easily overhear them. Liam's giving an extra practice to the freshmen so they have a chance of making first line, even though Mason thinks this is foolish. Liam explains that Brett is helping him, which makes no sense, but I don't mind because this sequence happens:

M: Brett? Incredibly... HOT Brett, with the 8-pack abs?

L (sounding mildly disgruntled... iS SOMEONE JEALOUS R U SURE UR STRAIGHT KIDDO): Pretty sure it's just Brett.

M: He has an 8-PACK. Do y- do you know how hard it is for the human body to have an 8-pack??? *music swells dramatically and then cuts off* ...God.

Also, at the end, Liam tosses Mason over his shoulder and carries him out of the locker room because he was accidentally discouraging the freshmen.

This is the best scene in the episode.

Next, both Liam and Corey failing to do a decent job at playing lacrosse. This is ostensibly an extra practice for the freshmen, and yet Brett, Liam, and Corey are the only ones playing. Brett outclasses them both in looks, swagger, and skill. Liam has no control as usual and Brett tells him to get it together. Audience reaction: Writers are recycling Liam's s4 plotline bc they ran out of ideas for his character; Brett is so clearly superior to Corey that we don't understand why Mason and Corey didn't break up during the hiatus so Brason could happen. Also, guidance counselor watches Brett score on Corey and hears Corey reply, "Wait, I'm not actually invisible right now, am I?" Nice subtlety, Corey.

Liam is pissed bc #recycledplotlines and punches out a locker. Somehow stays there all day because by the time Mason and Corey go to find him, it's after dark??? And since it's summer, it must be like 9:30??? "We need to study for a history test" hOW IS THE SCHOOL STILL OPEN THIS LATE i will never understand.

Oh yeah I forgot, while Liam was still working through his anger issues on the lacrosse field, a bunch of spiders crawl into a freshman boy's helmet in the locker room, and when he puts it on, they invade his body and then start crawling out of his mouth. So when Mason and Corey go to find Liam, they notice a smeared blood trail on the locker room floor and follow it to the showers, where there is an..... unidentifiable bloody mass on the floor. I am disturbed.

Brett:

After obliterating Liam and Corey, it is somehow magically nighttime and he's heading towards his car when the guidance counselor shows up, holding a lacrosse ball that rolled off the field. She compliments his abnormal skill level and tosses him the ball.... which turns out to be covered in wolfsbane. She claims it's "nothing personal,” but no one deserves that much power, and then tries to kill him. I think she stabs him??? I forget the details of their fight. Anyway, he manages to escape.

Scott and Malia:

They go looking for Chris at his... house? bunker? who knows. He has crates full of guns, surprising no one. They have #wittybanter and #chemistry, surprising no one. (i’m sorry i’m sorry i just feel like sc@lia is forced i’m sorry) Scott tells Malia it's okay to break into Chris's computer to find his calendar, and she is turned on by his rule-bending. All of the passwords she guesses involve her capitalizing the first word and adding spaces, because that's how passwords work. Scott picks up a bow and has a Revelation, immediately going to Chris's computer to type in ALLISON as the password. It's the second #recycledplotine of the night. Not to mention that as much as Chris loves his daughter, he is much too practical to have such an easily hackable password.

Questionable computer security aside, they show up in the middle of one of Chris's gun deals right after his fake military buyers pull out their guns, realizing that Chris knows they're fake military and is trying to find out who their boss is. Chris is annoyed with them for intervening and claims that he had an inside man that they just took out while trying to help him, which is yet another plot hole bc Chris shouldn't need to ask about bosses if he has an inside man. In the following chaos-ridden action scene, Scott drops the Argent shell casing. Chris says it's okay and they'll just find the actual bullet in the woods.

Best line of the episode: After Scott and Malia ask if the shell casing belongs to him, Chris says, "I haven't stamped a bullet since Allison died." Our hearts all break a little.

Anyway, despite their plans to go to the woods TOGETHER, Chris is mysteriously nowhere in sight so Scott and Malia can have ~time alone~. Malia shows concern for Scott's well-being. They smile at each other, and thanks to compulsive heterosexuality, this clearly means they've just caught feelings. I'm definitely not still bitter that the writers didn't bring back Kira and give Malia a girlfriend instead.

(in all honesty, however, i can admit that this scene was objectively cute, and it was great character development that already happened in s5 but again #recycledplotlines to see Malia actively caring about other people. I’m really happy for sc@lia shippers because I know you were all really excited about that scene.)

Chris comes back. They find a bullet in a tree thanks to its infared heat signature or smthg (idk i'm spaced out at this point). It's a silver bullet, meaning that the guidance counselor is just a wannabe Hunter, not the Genuine Article.

Lydia and Toast:

At the sheriff's station, Lydia??? hears some noise in her premonitions and decides to tell Toast and not her bf's dad for??? some completely valid reason i'm sure??? tbh i have no idea what the premise of this scene is, but Lydia realizes that the noise she keeps hearing is the key card reader from Eichen House. Apparently that means something bad is happening there so she tells Toast that they need to go check it out. Toast tells her that there's no way he's "letting her" go back there - because clearly he owns her and she can't make decisions for herself - and decides to go alone instead, because once again, that clearly makes so much more sense than telling the Sheriff. The whole scene is written to make it sound like Toast is the only one who cares about Lydia's well-being - because it's definitely not like she has a pack full of friends who care about her and a boyfriend who would do anything for her - and therefore is in charge of protecting her in a creepily possessive way. Aka, tw writers are still pandering to M@rrish fans even after Stydia is canon, and I don't know why I'm surprised.

So Toast goes to Eichen, meets Creepy Doctor who accidentally released Other Hellhound last week, and tells him to let him into the closed ward after hearing a woman begging for help. Doctor refuses. Toast shows him his glowing eyes as an... intimidation tactic??? Doctor complies but locks the door behind Toast after he enters.

Toast finds the woman in a communal-shower-type room (which???? okay), lying on the floor with an open electric cable sparking her body every few seconds, surrounded by a bunch of other apparently dead supernatural creatures. When Doctor arrives and Toast tells him to help, plot twist! Doctor is the one who put them there. (Oh, look, electricity........ I wonder who would be helpful....... in this........ situation........)

Doctor gets Toast locked up in room where Other Hellhound used to reside and turns down the temperature, telling Toast that he'll freeze him from the inside out or smthg.

Meanwhile, Lydia's just been hanging out at the sheriff station and waiting for Toast instead of registering for MIT because according to a reminder on her phone, this is the ~last day~ for her to do so and Lydia "IQ of 170" Martin OBVIOUSLY would have put off registration until the last minute. OF COURSE. She ignores the notification bc apparently college isn't important and steals one of the deputies' walkie talkies after she hears strange noises emitting from it. Her absurd attempts to sneak casually would have made Stiles Stilinski proud af.

However, her next move would NOT have made Stiles Stilinski proud af, as she hears the Doctor threatening Toast and immediately decides to go after him alone instead of

1) calling Scott so that Scott and Malia can come with her or

2) taking the Sheriff, seeing as he is her BOYFRIEND'S DAD and also CONVENIENTLY LOCATED IN THE SAME BUILDING AS HER AT THAT MOMENT.

So. Naturally. She goes to Eichen alone, and every sound she hears, every sight she sees, is immensely triggering. For the first time, Teen Wolf actually somewhat addresses the fact that Lydia has PTSD after everything she's been through. This is a good thing. I would be happy with this development if, again, Lydia wasn't alone throughout the entire experience. Clearly, Teen Wolf writers have decided that Strong Female Characters must always face their fears alone if they want to remain Strong Female Characters. Clearly, having her friends there to ground her would have taken away from her character development. Clearly, it wouldn't have been amazing to see Lydia accept her friends' help when s1 Lydia Martin never would have shown weakness around others. Clearly, having a support network when you've faced immense trauma isn't important at all. CLEARLY.

(Clearly I didn't have to pause my TV at this point because I was so horrified and angry that the TW writers placed her in a situation where she was surrounded by a myriad of triggers, on the verge of a panic attack, and completely alone.)

Anyway, Lydia reaches a turning point where she is somehow able to push aside all of those horrible memories and find Toast, who's been slowly freezing to death while watching Doctor hold a gun with shaking hands. Doctor's been explaining that he hates guns and has always been opposed to violence, but his fear of supernatural creatures has led him to believe that eradicating them all is the only way to ensure normal humans' safety.

Lydia runs into the cell just as Doctor raises the gun to shoot Toast in the head. She screams, knocking Doctor back and killing him. GREAT. LET'S ADD ANOTHER TRAUMATIC EICHEN MEMORY TO THE PILE. LYDIA DEFINITELY NEEDED TO KILL SOMEONE ELSE. THAT WOULDN'T BE EMOTIONALLY SCARRING AT ALL. OF COURSE STILES IS ENTITLED TO AN ENTIRE SEASON OF ANGST AFTER KILLING DONOVAN IN SELF-DEFENSE, BUT LYDIA KILLING MULTIPLE PEOPLE WOULDN'T HAVE ANY EMOTIONAL RAMIFICATIONS. OF COURSE.

End scenes:

2.0: Suddenly realizing that freshman boy (I think his name is Aaron) is missing, they go running around the school looking for him and eventually find him in a classroom, magically unharmed. "What are you doing here?" they ask. "Just remembered we have a history test," he replies. I thought this boy was a freshman. smh.

McMarTate: Clearly not scarred from her experiences at all, Lydia rejoins Malia and Scott to discuss their discoveries. Cue "what is everyone afraid of?"/"us" scene combined with a montage of everyone looking away from Liam in slow motion at school the next day, apparently afraid of him. Which is definitely because they magically know he's a werewolf, and not because they don't want to catch the disease that gave him his awful haircut.

Brett: Brett pounces on the guidance counselor, who's looking for him in the woods, and they start fighting. It looks like he's going to win, but then he gets shot in the chest with an arrow and runs off.

The arrow was shot by Gerard.

He tells wannabe hunter/guidance counselor that she has potential.

Huzzah, what a great episode.

Bonus casual racism: Now that Kira's gone, wannabe hunter/guidance counselor (who still doesn't have a name...... oh hey, look, mORE CASUAL RACISM) is the only woman of color on the show... and she's a Black antagonist. This is clearly Not Problematic At All.

Of course, thanks to theories that will be discussed in this week's episode of stydiacast, it's possible that this casting decision is entirely legitimate.

HOWEVER, one other poc was introduced in this episode...... and Aaron, poor young freshman lacrosse player, is now possibly being possessed by spiders and will likely also be a Black antagonist, albeit one with no control over his actions.

Oh, hey, doesn't..... that...... sound..... familiar? It's.... almost like..... another problematic #recycledplotline. *looks at s5 Mason Hewitt*

Roman Numerals, 8s, 10s, Xs, and Beth’s Return

Good morning and Happy Saturday! So as I’ve been saying the past few weeks, @wdway and I have been doing re-watches and finding some interesting things. A lot of these insights come directly from her research. Thanks so much for all your hard work and eagle eyes, Hon!

The biggest problem I ran into while writing this was what order to present everything in. Some much of it is so intertwined, if I start talking about one, I’ll have to talk about the others. So I’m gonna try really hard to keep from confusing you all.

It was @wdway that first turned me on to look for the X symbol. Once I did, I started seeing them everywhere. Let me start by giving you some examples.

We’ve seen them all the way since S1 in license plates, but I’m not going to talk about license plates today. They’re super important, but they’re getting their own post later.

We’ve also seen them quite frequently on signs, such as railroad crossing signs (RXR) and we all know the train tracks are an important symbol all their own.

We see them as notches in both Beth and Maggie’s belts, Beth’s starting in S3 and Maggie’s starting in S4. (I’m not going to talk about the belts today. They’re important, but again, that’s another post.)

In S5, we saw them on the trees around Morgan. With the circle around them, they also happen to be an electric symbol for lamps (X) and also look like a modified coda. Which is interesting given that we saw them in 5x08.

Also in S5, we saw them near Sasha in the dry creek bed (near the frogs) in 5x10:

We also saw them on Crazy Boxcar Dude’s face at Terminus.

And then here, in FG’s church while Maggie, Sasha and he pray together.

Interestingly, we actually see them around Grady in a few ways. When Rick discusses the plan with everyone, he draws a floor plan of Grady in the dirt and uses Xs to show where each person will be. So X = a person.

Of course we get a sea of Xs in the chain link of this shot:

(And yes, I know we see a lot of chain link in the show. I don’t think you could point to any random instance of chain link as a symbol. But when there’s a lot of it, when it’s emphasized, etc., it’s probably important. This was a specific decision to show this tragic, iconic shot through chain link rather than put the camera on the other side of it for a clearer view.)

Moving into S6, we saw them around Morgan again on rocks and on the porch of Eastman’s house.

We saw Sasha emphasize an X in Daryl’s last name when she wrote it on the door.

In 6x16/7x01 we saw the Saviors mark the Librarian guy they hung with an X. In the S7 premiere, Negan went back to that spot with Rick and Rick actually climbed the corpse to get away from the walker horde. They really emphasized it, in other words.

(Which btw I think may support my theory about the Captain Hanson backstory at Grady pointing toward Beth helping Rick through something.)

We saw them around Sasha and Rosita in 7b as well.

(Understand that these are only a few instances. I’m sure they’re all over the place, chilling in the background of scenes and such. But these are ones that stood out to us.)

And of course, as @wdway points out, turning an X results in a cross and vise versa. (A tactic employed in the recent Logan (wolverine) film.)

So, what does this all mean? What do the Xs represent? I bet you can guess what I’m gonna say. Yup, I’ll say it: we think they represent Beth. Or things to do with her. It’s hard to say exactly how this realization formed, other than just seeing Xs all over having to do with her. But I’ll get to some stuff that @wdway has found recently that really confirmed our beliefs.

First, let’s talk about Tara.

Remember in 7x06, when we saw some lines of Roman Numerals on her arm, but we couldn’t see the bottom line?

@wdway noticed two more instances when we see this tattoo, though they’re much subtler than this one, and I found yet another. While doing the re-watch, she noticed that in this scene in 4x07, you can see the tattoo.

We just didn’t realize it was visible before S7. I also found it here

but it’s VERY hard to see. I don’t think from either of these shots in S4, we would have been able to tell what the tattoo said. But still, this was something obviously planned since S4, when Gimple took the reins.

The other instance @wdway noticed was here in 7x10:

And the interesting thing in this case is that you can see the bottom line that was hidden in 7x06. Can you tell what it is? Yup, that’s right. It’s an 8. So these are the lines we have, all in roman numerals

26: XXVI

13: XIII

22: XXII

9: IX

8: VIII

I don’t know what the top four numbers mean. I’ve played around with them somewhat–counting episodes Tara is in and trying to multiply or divide them in various ways. Nothing ingenious has come to me. They may have to do with Tara’s arc herself (rather than Beth) and they may foreshadow something to come. If that’s the case, we can’t possibly know what it is yet.

The 8 is suspicious, of course, to TD. And it’s made even more so in my opinion because it was hidden in that close up shot. If they really wanted to hide it, they wouldn’t have shown it to us a few episodes later. And remember Glenn’s theme from 5a: “There’s nothing worth finding in this world that isn’t hidden.” I believe he even said that to Tara.

But there’s more. Again, this is an insight from @wdway. The clock in Still, which we first saw at 8 minutes before the hour, and then chimed, showing that 8 minutes had passed before Beth “made it” had roman numerals, rather than numbers.

As far as we know, there are only two other clocks with roman numerals on the face rather than numbers or other marks. The first is—once again—at Grady. In 5x07 Crossed, there’s a clock in Edwards’ office with roman numerals. The weird thing about this clock is that it changes mid-scene. This may be hard to see, but in this top picture, the hands point at the 8 and the 4.

In otherwords, episode 8x04. Then, 30 seconds later and in the same scene, it changes to the 8 and the 10.

Perhaps something this scene foreshadows will be an arc that goes from 8x04-8x10. That actually makes all kinds of sense given the rest of this theory but I’ll come back to it. The final clock is the one Cindy looks at here at Oceanside.

As you can see, it also reads 8:20, which would point to episode 8x04.

Could it be that Beth will appear in 8x04? Or that she’ll show up at Oceanside in that episode? Perhaps both.

Three clocks = Rule of Threes. All wrapped up in Beth symbolism. First in Still, then at Grady, then at Oceanside.

We’ll have to look for other clocks as we go, but I even checked watches and the ones in WHAWGO to be sure. They either have regular numbers or just lines in place of numbers. In some cases, they’re too blurry to tell for sure. In those cases, we certainly don’t see roman numerals.

So we have Xs that are wrapped up in TD symbolism, with ties to Tara, Oceanside, and Still. It certainly looks like they were trying to tie the clocks in 4x12 and 6x07 together, which is awesome!

A couple more facts about Xs. In roman numerology, the X = 10, right? We do see some 10 stuff around Beth. Not as much as 7 or 8 stuff, but a bit.

Every season, episode 10 is significant in some way to Beth.

(No episode 10 in S1).

S2x10: 18 Miles Out (suicide arc)

S3x10: Home (Talks to Carol about Daryl)

S4x10: Inmates (Dairy voice over and backward story progression.)

S5x10: Them (Music box wakes up.)

S6x10: The Next World (Rickyl/Bethyl parallels, meet JESUS on the road.)

7x10: New Best Friends (Daryl says goodbye to Carol, Carol reads novel with a serious piggyback on the cover.)

Plus, I might add, we’ve seen a lot of 100s, which 10 is an obvious factor of. And episode 100 is 8x01.

So given these 10s, the 8:50 on Edwards’ clock makes sense. I wonder if Beth will show up at Oceanside in 8x04, but we won’t see the entirety of how she escaped until 8x10. If 8x10 mirrors 4x10, Inmates, at all, we might even hear more voice overs or see flashbacks.

I’d also like to point out that right after talking to Edwards, Beth walks into the hallway and we have some definite Dark Tunnel Symbolism there. (X, X, X).

She’s heading into her dark tunnel as we head into Coda, but there’s a light at the end, showing that she’ll come out the other side eventually.

Buuuutt, there’s one more thing you all ought to be aware of concerning the letter X. @wdway and her ingenious research uncovered something more. Put roman numerology aside for a moment. We’ve seen both that and the Greek alphabet symbols used in the show. She looked up Hebrew. And guess what? The symbol for the number 8 in Hebrew numerology is an X. The word for it is “chet” and it means “New Beginnings.”

On that subject I’m sure this has probably been said before, but I was thinking about it in more detail yesterday. In Christian symbolism, 8 is the number of baptism. Baptism, by definition, is a spiritual rebirth. So (and this is what I was listening to the other day that made me think about this) the baptismal font, full of water, is a likeness of the grave. One comes up out of it, newly baptized, as though being resurrected and beginning life anew.

(P.S. Doing re-watches, I’ve found a lot more 8s than I would have thought. I’ll do a post showing all of them, but I don’t want to make this theory any longer.)

Given all of this, it just makes all kinds of sense that Beth will come by water (greenroute) in S8.

So…Tara’s roman numerals? Important.

8s? Important.

10s? Important.

Xs? VERY important.

So I’ll let you go back through the list of Xs at the beginning of the theory and figure out how they relate to Beth. Some are obvious. Others aren’t but we still have theories about them (*coughs Dude at Terminus*).

And can I just add that I love that the X, a symbol for 8s and Beth’s return was put BY SASHA in the middle of Daryl’s name. Love that. ;D

So everyone keep your eyes out for Xs as you re-watch. (Not that we need tons more evidence, but it’s just fun. ;D)

NEXT ON THIS BLOG: SCORPION S3 SPOILERS

What has already been “posted”:

As always, the “spoiler master posts” have been updated. Even on busiest weeks I usually update the master posts weekly. Last updates for master posts were done March 27th (ep titles & air dates post, s3 spoiler master post, guest stars master post... etc)

What will be posted:

I’ll be posting a ton of BTS pics...in the upcoming days (all the ones I haven’t posted yet). Also few vids, maybe. There are a lot of pics piled up again...that I haven’t posted cause I’ve been busy.

Also: on non-fandom note...I might share a few personal pics from this past month, too. Maybe. I haven’t posted anything since the trip to the countryside..

MAYBE: My guesses for the TV Line (annual) May Sweeps Scorecard (applies to may sweeps eps airing between April 27th & May 24th. So episodes 323-325 -- if ep 3x23 airs may 1st instead of April 24th). But anything happening in 321 & 322 is not on that list... remember that when making your guesses.)

What won’t be posted:

Ep 3x24 & 3x25 titles... unless the'll be reveal officially. But currently situation is this: the titles & ep synopsis will be released only a few weeks before the episodes air (May 8th & May 15th). When they usually reveal the titles & little details (synopsis) before starting filming the ep, then with this finale it’s not happening. Cause they’re already filming 324, and 325 starts filming next week, but that info isn’t released...and thus not posted on this blog... now.

A few BTS pics/vids that I consider too spoilery. Yes, the fandom has “found” several of them, and many people have seen the info already, but this blog will not share those bits & won’t discuss the information they reveal...about the finale plot. After the eps have aired, yes, but not before. ETA: I’ve decided to post the things that are “public knowledge” already...

So while the ask box is deactivated, and you can’t ask me about my opinion (n anon or in person) via that option, I will also not be sharing any personal thoughts/comments on those spoilery bits via messaging/other channels either. As always I’ll only comment “official” spoilers, not “unofficial” ones.

(if you’re interested in seeing all the spoilers, do the searching. You don’t have to be TeamScorpion good to find all the info. You just need to put a little effort, and look things up. If you don’t wanna do that, you are not really interested. Cause in life you gotta put effort in everything - no “work” no “reward”)

REMINDER:

We all (tv fans, invested fans) know how network TV works, and how may sweeps and season finales are handled. We know know that the stories are big for finale ars, and that everything is “made bigger” - the threat, the cases, the stakes are higher... etc... because this is just how tv approaches their finales.

Yes, everything is possible on tv, and they can do “twists” and “big things” for finale...just cause. But there really is no reason to sweat or worry about the finale events. We will never know the whole story until the episodes have aired. No matter how much we know (factual spoilers) & no matter how correct we are in our guesses, the whole story will only be revealed to fans after episodes have aired. So no need to worry & fear for the worst. It’s only hurting you if yo do so.

The threat is always eliminated/conquered, the person always saved:

In S1 end Walter was saved, and the the team members made up (after their fights)...even if some things were left up in the air. But there needs to be a “conflict” or “unresolved issue” that ends the season.. to set up next season. Just like between s1&s2 it was Cabe’s “resignation” from Homeland (read: Team Scorpion). But it’s always resolved in the beginning of next season (Cabe got his job back, Walt back to work, team back together).

In s2 it was Toby saved from Collins and outsmarting the single genius by the Team of geniuses. And the positive aka the proposal. While finishing with the negative (in fandoms’ opinion) aka proposal rejection. When the rejection plus Toby/Walt end talk was all there only to set up the next season, s3. And all was resolved (however quickly, however loosely) in s3. And both the hubby mystery cliffhanger and the “baby hints” got addressed & “resolved” in S3.

I don’t see how it will be any different with the s3 end (cause right now it looks like the Bruno/Toby plot they’ve hinted at will be happening in s4, and not be used as S3 finale plot, but instead these were first hints about the S4A theme/plot (like INS/Cd-baby were in S3A, and I was wrong that they’d use that for the finale, cause they have the wedding + the big case/story reserved for the s3 finale arc, so there’s no room really for otehr stuff...)

So... whatever threat they are facing in the s3 finale... (whatever happens at the end of 323/324...) it will be resolved in 325, and there will be a happy team moment in the end. Which doesn’t mean there can’t be a cliffhanger type end scene after that moment... But really the chances of the “cliffhanger” being positive or negative are 50/50 right now.

It could be something good - like development with the main ship, and one of them making a love confession of a sort, or it could (in my dreams, only...won’t happen before S5) Quintis related and finding out that they’re gonna be a family of three.

Or it could be something “bad” - like a team members life in danger, or Toby’s gambling past resurfacing (we’ve had mentions of Bruno & his debts + mentions of his family...when his dad was the one who introduced him to his addiction - gambling, so it is possible they’ll set up a plot for that in the finale...case the season’s over, and they didn’t explore those topics really this season).

But whatever it is, it is nothing to worry about .. too much. Cause those of us who are still here, and still watching (after s2 finale, and how that affected many fans), should know/remember that what might seem extremely bad at the moment might easily turn to be “oh, that wasn’t so bad at all” in a while. (recent example: the fandom worry about the 319 Quintis marriage counselling plot with dr. Cecil...and how that was nothing remotely like fandom feared. Or even the much-disliked s2 cliffhanger and it’s resolution in s3... aka the INS plot. I cannot speak for everyone, but I think most weren’t as disappointed after we’d seen the whole arc...by 308, cause it wasn’t as “big & bad” as the typical tv cliffy suggest...

Quintis related thoughts: all the most negative theories:

a) all the theories about Toby gambling/relapsing (always possibility, and shows usually have their character relapse once - its a good plot to create drama, and it’s gonna happen at one point.. I just don’t think it’ll be now, bit in s4 instead) seem not something that fits the s3 finale...IMO

b) all the theories about a Quintis not getting married and/or breaking up instead seem not optional IMO - well, it does look & sound much like they will get to say their “I do”-s in S3. And I do not see a break-up scenario fitting anywhere...based on looking at how they’ve written Quintis & S3 Quintis & S3 in general.

Fighting...yes. Their characters and their different natures, and their “troubled” pasts are rich material for conflict... but ones that are resolved... quick (same ep, a few ep long arc). Of course they’re gonna have disagreements, but Quintis is more like Mondler on Friends or Marshmallow on HIMYM... the secondary couple who stick together...no matter what.

Even when they have fights or rough patches, that ships drama does not come from on/off again, but they are used to address the typical couples issues (and they’ve been doing that with Quintis, like currently with the wedding planning and counselling and all... they address an issue that comes from preferring different methods, but trying to make the other happy aka learning to compromise and be in a relationship)

c) all other theories... that I can’t even list. But there is no scenario that worries me. Cause whatever it is: Toby’s parents/dad/old friends introduced and bringing trouble with them, an old team enemy resurfacing and threatening one/all of them, the team being in danger (more than usual??? cause they’re about to die in every ep of this show basically... lol), their wedding and/or honeymoon ruined by the case or some threat... there’s not one scenario that fandom can come up with and consider “not good” that makes me worried.

I don’t see any of the possibilities (most of which are low, not real possibilities) making me worried. There is nothing to worry about. Neither Quintis-related. Not Team related. Cause yes, the threat will most likely be typical to season finales “BIG”, but this show is about the team of geniuses solving unsolvable cases & situations, so whatever happens, they’ll find a way out of the place... And this is not the kinda show where you’d need to worry about main characters being in danger. Most shows do this, but this is one of those few shows where I don’t actually see...in s3 at least... their numbers getting smaller, so all the “what happens next/how do they solve this problem/how do they get out of this situation” is fabricated to have you biting your nails...for 30 minutes, only to have a “happy ending”...

What are your thoughts on teen wolf? especially writing wise? I have stopped watching regularly around 3b and I wasn't too convinced by what I've seen here on tumblr about the rest of the episodes, in particular 6x10...

i will always have a special place in my heart for the characters i love that the show gave me. i still blog about teen wolf, i write fic, and i enjoyed s1-3a. saying that, i don’t particular enjoy what the show became, or look back on the experience i had as a fan with much nostalgia (i think we were v much used and abused as a fandom online, for sure). i love my part of fandom, though.

short answer about the writing... it was terrible because

1) there was a complete lack of planning and follow through

2) we love this idea/actor/theme for 30 seconds but oops now we don’t

3) they completely misused their social media as a way to a) explain away/correct plot holes in their own writing and b) encourage viewers to watch a show they implied to be many things that it turned out to... not be any of

long answer

as a disclaimer here, i watch a lot of tv, i watch stuff on cbs, abc, fox, cw, bbc, tbs, p much something from every network, and i’ve seen the highs and lows of writing through comedy, drama, medical, supernatural, and everything inbetween. i’m not a professional writer, i am only a consumer. i have, however, over the nearly 20 years of watching shows as a fangirl (where i’ve been into something i follow religiously, and then later became involved in online forums) honed my tastes and opinions. on average i watch 15 shows a week, last year it would have been 21 around february time, but i’ve cut six shows including 3 i started this fall and dropped because of writing issues similar to that of teen wolf, or it just got terrible, either way). i have totally tried to rationalise what teen wolf did and i just... can’t.

to elongate

1. the whole “let’s throw everything at the wall and see what sticks” approach is terrible. the best thing about breaking bad was that everything was planned to the very minute details. lost only picked up again when they were given an end date and suddenly had to come up with a plausible endgame. every season teen wolf has started off with a new plan, a new theme, and then it’s fallen apart because they’ve quite clearly changed their minds about something and either dropped it completely (they’re especially bad about dropping characters and never speaking of them again, or even acknowledging they were there in the first place), or made up new stuff to fit their new plan (scott is the true alpha so he can move mountain ash, kate is a werejaguar

not to mention they’ve joked about not being able to keep up with their own timelines, unsure how old any of the characters are, forgetting the characters have school/work/should be in prison, introducing siblings, changing history, forgetting actual canon...

2. kinda leads on from 1. where they would introduce an idea or a character and then totally lose interest and instead of trying hard to give them depth or something to do or going somewhere with the concept, they’d just drop it? see, parrish as a hellhound, kira as a kitsune, even way back when with stiles as a spark, a cool idea for thirty seconds to fit in with the plot and then... whoops it never happened, what are you talking about there was never a whole season about japanese culture, that season was about stiles conquering his internal battle with his own psyche telling him he’s never going to be good enough because we always make his dad out to be a total dick to him (surprise, his dad’s called noah, which we know you’ll hate because we dragged it out like some sort of magical plot twist, and also HIS dad is a dick so it’s okay he’s always told stiles he’d rather have had scott as a son) WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT FOXES FOR? THERE WAS NO FOX. THERE WAS NO TREE TRUNK. BANSHEES? THE FUCK? LYDIA JUST SCREAMS EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE AND SOMETIMES HAS MAGIC POWERS. but then doesn’t. pfft it doesn’t actually matter.

or worse conveniently fix it/disappear it. it was tiring to watch and be confused and wonder why they were treating you like an idiot as a viewer. like the show is on mtv sure, but at least awkward stuck to a clear timeline. awkward covered where characters vanished to. we never actually even got clarification on basics like... why did deaton never want to help derek in season one... even though he was the hale emissary? what did emissaries have to do with anything by the next episode as nothing ever happened with that whole theme... why did stiles have a magic spark... where did cora go... how did she come back and how did the alphas find her before derek... why did the alphas originally start a war with derek, kill off his pack but then decide they didn’t want derek and just wanted scott... why did scott let deucalion walk off into the sunset? WHY IS PETER STILL NOT IN PRISON FOR THE MURDER OF HIS NIECE? these questions are all like three seasons old but that’s all i have and they still bug me. i can’t believe the show has never covered any of these huge issues. it’s lazy. everyone likes consistency, nobody likes writing leaving this big wink like “you don’t really care about this do you???”

again, with the big deaths, the characters they did kill off all had opportunities not to die, they could have had different endings, but each time their death was used to create man pain, probably one of the many reasons i’m not as big on male characters (they always need something to prop them up and make them more heroic and tragic in the long run), and that writing? erica, boyd, allison, was cruel and unnecessary. it did nothing for the show, and it lessened the writing. it actually made it worse when they tried to defend it, because they’d been going on about it for so long before hand as if it was a new and exciting toothpaste they’d all just gotten “now even whiter than before/now with even more death!!!”

the fact they hadn’t planned out a season without stiles (despite knowing dylan was out) and so instead of giving all of the other characters a chance to grow and learn and develop they literally wrote a whole season about stiles (after all of 3b, and from what i can tell most of s4 and s5 was about stiles). every character seemed to be focused on this missing person. the whole season was based around a character that wasn’t even on screen. and all because std fans were promised a big beautiful season of std??? gutted.

3. leading to point three! teasing your internet fanbase with ~thrilling and huge deaths to look forward to all season! using tumblr to answer questions about the plot holes/characters/encourage you to watch for the return of characters and not actually ever going through with it on screen. the teasing. the baiting. the flat out refusal to learn from your own viewership (when more than happy to use their gifs, use their images, their fanfics and their ideas) and then act as if the fanbase are the ungrateful ones. to try and join in with memes and tbt and a bunch of other infuriating actions that made even the actors uncomfortable. the tweets, the writers creating more drama even now, six seasons in, jeff saying “oh yeah if hoechlin had stayed on we’d have tortured derek some more with a fake julia (????? dick) haha i hope the internet doesn’t kill me for that one” as if we’re a bunch of deranged lunatics instead of just fans of a character that deserved better? like he knows what’s up. he’s a grown man. he knows they fucked up, in so many areas, and yet he’s just not willing to learn from it, or acknowledge it, he’s just always said “well if they don’t like it, they shouldn’t watch”...

i guess we didn’t.

It is June 2019 and we plan a trip to Nepal. A trip which spans 7 nights and 8 days with family is what we love. We take time to plan the trip; ping our blogger friends, speak to a few and then finally arrive at the itinerary which we almost followed (hot and humid weather in Chitwan made us cut it by a day).

The road map for this trip looks like this: Delhi – Kathmandu – Pokhara – Chitwan – Kathmandu – Delhi

Travellers: 4 – I, husband and our girls

Day 1: We reach Kathmandu

We book ourselves on Air India flight from Delhi, it is a short flight and we land in Kathmandu in about 90 minutes. Flight is comfortable with decent food and leg space for us to catch a wink or two as it was an early morning flight.

We land at the airport and within no time we are out. As we move out, we buy a Nepalese SIM card at the airport; there are various options to choose from and you would require a photo id and a photo for a SIM card.

We book a prepaid taxi to the Airbnb we had booked close to Pashupatinath temple. It is advisable to book an AC cab as Kathmandu can easily be dubbed as the Dust Bowl of Nepal and you wouldn’t want to choke on the dust and pollution due to ongoing construction across the city. Certainly, the traffic reminds one of Delhi of 90’s, if you know what I mean.

The Airbnb was not that easy to locate, quite a few phone calls and then our driver could finally understand the location. We reach about 11:30 and our host tells us we are early by 30 minutes as the check in time is 12 and the cleaning is going on though he let us in the living room. Well, this is another story on our experience of Airbnb which is not at all what you see on the TV commercial these days. I mean not that great but I would talk about that in another post.

We put our stuff and freshen up and take a stroll to get something to eat but again the location was not that great. Hence, a couple of shops around where we could find bhelpuri and momos and bananas. In the meanwhile, we download a food app (Foodmandu) and order some Chinese which is quite decent.

After some rest we head to Pashupatinath Temple which is about 15 minutes- walk from this place. Due to ongoing construction of the road it is full of dust hence would advise you to carry a scarf or something to cover your face. We take a stroll around the temple but quickly move towards the ghat area because it is the evening Aarti that we don’t want to miss. We perch ourselves at the ghat where aarti is to take place and ask a number of people about the time for aarti and get different timings by different people. Aarti only starts after 7 but we don’t move from our place as we want a perfect view. And time just flies past as we watch the busy ghat on the other side of Bagmati river as Pashupatinath is also one of the most sought- after cremation sites in Nepal. Life and death juxtapose each other, but in a way that compliments and you can’t help but soak in the experience. More on Pashupatinath in another blog post.

We now call it a day and are all set for tomorrow but not before we shift mattresses as the AC in one of the rooms is not working.

Day 2: Pashupatinath Temple, Thamel and Durbar Square

We walk to Pashupatinath temple and before we could know we have a guide who takes us around the premises explaining about the architecture and the history of the temple. All the people take Indian rupees very happily but only in the denomination of 100’s and 200’s or less. We pay INR 400 for this tour and he helps us with the darshan (we don’t skip the queue or something it is just that he points out where to go). Rush in this temple is something one cannot help, there is a lot of pushing and shoving and once you reach the main sanctum you get a glimpse of the deity. After darshanam, we go looking for a cab and head to Thamel.

We reach Thamel after jostling through traffic and finally we get to a point where we can walk. Thamel will impress for once as you feel this is a different Nepal after having been to the city of Kathmandu. There are a number of eateries and shops selling Hemp products, wood and bone jewellery, clothes and of course woolens. You spend some time in Thamel and you feel you have seen this before as this place is just like any Mall road on a hill station just that it is quite big and the products are slightly different.

After entering a pizzeria for lunch, we realise that no one is accepting Indian Credit Cards or Debit Cards and the next day’s plan is Pokhara by road hence need cash for the cab. This comes as another learning and quite an episode (more later in another blog post. We now see the waiters exchanging glances as if inquiring if we have any plans to leave and pay the bill. A few calls, some waiting and we get money from Bank of Kathmandu in Thamel through Western Union.

Then we walk through lanes to reach Durbar Square (Hanuman Dhoka) which is about 30 minutes-walk from Thamel. These are narrow lanes where you have to walk through people and traffic with shops on both sides. Durbar Square tells the tale of bygone era and some of the temples are totally in ruins after the earthquake in Nepal in 2015. Here also we are approached by a guide and we hire him for INR 200 for a full round of Durbar Square.

After a few clicks and some walk through the Square we find ourselves in a taxi heading back to the Airbnb in Kathmandu stopping in between only to get our dinner packed from a Tandoori restaurant – that is how dhabas are called in Nepal.

Day 3: Kathmandu to Pokhara

Distance: About 200 km; Time taken: 7 hours by road; Roads: Bad

We book a cab to Pokhara and the gentleman arrives in time. We start around 7 happy to be moving to another famous town in Nepal and even happier that we would not be staying in that Airbnb. We learn on the way that our driver is an ex- army whose wife and kids are in India with his sister and he bought his car Scorpio S5 on a hefty bank loan. His Hindi is good and he keeps us entertained with the songs he has in a pen drive that he says he downloaded for us. Then he also mentions about Udit Narayan and his Nepali roots; this and somewhat interesting views help us get through the long 7-hour road trip from Kathmandu to Pokhara otherwise you can travel on those roads in Nepal at your own risk.

We check in at hotel Adam which is a decent hotel right at the center point but again we realise there are better options available at the end of the Lake road towards the airport. Anyways, we check in and head straight to have lunch. Lake side road is full of restaurants and hotels so there you are spoilt for choice. We choose Maya restaurant – the oldest one around and have our fill of momos and fish. You get decent vegetarian options too. It rains cats and dogs while we munch on lunch. In the evening we take a stroll around the lake as it is still drizzling on and off and have tea by the lake side and eat hot corn on the cob with green chilli chutney.

This place is a welcome respite from the hustle bustle of Kathmandu. First day in Pokhara is well spent.

Day 4: Action packed in Pokhara – Ultralight flight

Today we have a lot lined up. As the bookings are in place, we head to Pokhara airport for our first ever ultralight flight experience. I am the first to go and am thrilled as I was in Bir Biling (first paragliding experience at the best place to paraglide in Asia). My pilot is Kevin and once the engines are all revved up, I am all set to take the flight with that gear (that is provided by the service provider) I feel like a pilot myself. One of the best experiences till date I get a bird’s eye view of the city, World Peace Pagoda and the Fewa Lake, hills were rather hidden behind the clouds but flying through the clouds is even better.

Getting the bird’s eye view of the lake in not enough and we go boating in the lake which spans 1.5 by 4 kms and enjoy the boat ride. It is actually different from boating in Nainital as the lake is huge and there is temple right in the middle of the lake. Now we head to Devi falls. It is a different kind of a waterfall where you can see the water coming and then can’t see where actually it is falling as the gorge is too deep, I guess. You can only hear water fall and feel the mist on your face. However, the little Shiv parivaar (God Shiva and his family) is quite beautiful and looks antique.

Now we head to Gupestwor Mahadev caves at the insistence of our driver. The place is nearby only and we reach in no time. There is a ticket you have to buy to enter the caves. As it is quite hot already, I quit and tell my folks to carry on while I sit underneath a huge tree beside the reclining statue of Vishnu. While they are in the cave I get to know later, electricity trips twice and their verdict is that this place is avoidable. Anyways we are done for the afternoon, evening is another story.

It looks like it is going to rain still we don’t want to miss the World Peace Pagoda hence we drive towards it. The roads are narrow and steep and I feel a bit nervous (read about our drive to village in Manali) but the driver manages and we trust him. A climb of about 300 stairs and you are at the peace Pagoda. Quite a site and it will have more effect on you if you keep quiet and soak in the serenity and the views from here. It rains and we rush for cover under the only canopy in the premises where we find fellow tourists too. Once the rain subsides, we click a few pictures of the beautiful sky and the peace pagoda in the backdrop and climb down while giving a heads up to the ongoing people to the peace pagoda that the place is close now. (World Peace Pagoda closes at 6 pm in summers)

We go for a walk in the evening in bid to find something to snack on and we do find a restaurant named Thela where everything is for NPR 99 only. It is a must eat place and we snack on momos, chicken satay and thukpa soup which is quite scrumptious.

We also find a golgappe wala who serves yummy golgappas on the Lake side road. Again, dinner is from a Tandoori restaurant which we enjoy in our room.

Day 5: Pokhara to Chitwan

Distance: 150 km ; Time taken by road: 5 hours; Road: Bad except the last stretch from Mungling onwards

Now this state highway is better than the previous one (Kathmandu to Pokhara) and we see river Trishuli which changes names at it merges with other rivers. Roads are better after you cross Mungling that is where we have our lunch at a Thakali resaurant which serves typical Nepali food. Nothing fancy but thankfully neat and hygienic which is a blessing considering the kind of eateries you spot on the highway.

In about 5 hours we reach Chitwan and our driver is forever saying that it would be very hot in Chitwan. It turns out he is right and we immediately make up our minds to stay only a night instead of the original two nights that we had planned.

As soon as we freshen up, we rush for the crocodile safari and the jungle walk as it is 4 in the evening already. We go in a safari truck to the starting point and are hustled up in a canoe which is carved out of a tree bark and looks so raw. Now I think the colour almost matches a croc. Eeew!

The crocodile safari is something that can only be experienced and not explained in words. About 45 minutes on the canoe and all of us are biting our nails at some point or the other. We spot a few crocs, a group of deer and few birds like stork, kingfisher and more.

At the point where the safari terminates, we get down safe and sound and walk through the jungle to our hotel. Of course, a guide from the jungle accompanies us for the safari and the walk. We spot a number of elephants that have been reared for the purpose of patrolling the national park. It is a huge area of 964 sq kms hence an army of elephants along with patrolling officers is required.

For dinner we are served thalis with rice, dal, two vegetable dishes and/or chicken. Food is good and tastes like home-made food. You feel happy because after so many days of eating out you value simple food. All of a sudden you see the manager and his aides running towards the roof top restaurant where we are dining and yelling, “Gainda, Gainda” which means Rhino and before you say a word they point out to a silhouette crossing the Rapti river and heading towards the village where he will feast on vegetables, we are told. We call it a day and go off to sleep without thinking about the crocs.

Day 6: Jungle Safari in Chitwan National Park and back to Kathmandu

We get ready by 7 and wear matching camouflage t shirts for the jungle safari. All set with packed breakfast and hats and sunglasses, we get in the truck that is our carrier in the jungle. We have our guide with us who can speak fluent Hindi. We enter the jungle and even before we could soak in the spirit of it all we encounter a rhino which is spotted by our guide. It is hard to actually spot it even after he points it from a distance then our driver reverses the truck and we are face to face with the rhino who is busy chewing on elephant grass and now we can see the beast right in front of us. We are quite close and in pin drop silence we can hear the animal breath heavily and chew noisily. He lifts up his head to have a look at us while continuously chewing and after a few seconds of eye contact he leaves us alone and glides through the grass.

We are actually mesmerized. Humans are just another creation of the intelligence that rules this universe and so is the rhino, both equally amazing.

We move ahead and see flocks and flocks of deer some crossing the river and some sitting and relaxing under the thick growth.

Happy with our visit we wrap it up before noon and head back to Kathmandu.

Day 7 and 8: Kathmandu – Thamel and Durbar Square

We had booked Hotel Marshayangdi in Thamel for our last day and added another day to this as we cut short our trip by a day in Chitwan.

With prime location in Thamel and an upgrade to a suite in this hotel we all are a happy lot. We are happy to be back in the comfort zone of a city life and today we just relax, watch TV and eat in our room. Only in the evening we go out and take a walk in Thamel.

We have just today in Kathmandu and honestly no shopping is done till now. Just because I find nothing exciting enough because either the price is too high or the quality of the stuff is not what I am looking for. And more importantly, I feel I can easily get this in my own country. Still, we walk towards Hanuman Dhokha Durbar Square again to see if we can buy something from the roadside market there. This market is cheaper than Thamel.

Tips:

Indian Credit Cards (VISA and Master Card) are not accepted in Nepal.

Indian currency is accepted in Nepal only in the denominations of 200 and 100 (preferred) and lower.

Advisable to carry Nepalese currency.

Carry a photo id and a photograph to buy a Nepalese SIM card.

Eat where the locals eat. That is how I find the golgappe wala who is selling tasty and yummy golgappas in Pokhara.

Spend two days in Kathmandu – Pashupatinath and Durbar square should be on your list; Pokhara two days – Enjoy Fewa Lake and the weather plus the ambiance of the place and indulge in some adventure sports here. In Chitwan only one day is enough; just time your visit in a manner that you are able to do the jungle safari and crocodile safari in a day.

Cebu Trip - The First Weekend

2-18-17

I remember waking up pretty early on this day, probably due to jetlag. After looking through snapchat and groupme of the people back home, I heard a knock on the door as my cousin Bernard greeted me and asked if I ate breakfast yet. I told him I haven’t and that I was planning of going downstairs so he accompanied me to eat breakfast in the restaurant that’s below my Lola’s house. There I ordered something I had been craving for a long ass time - longsilog. For the uninitiated, it’s filipino sausage known as longanisa with an egg and rice, though with mine I asked for fried rice... I think XD I also remember liking the Tropicana Twister which I’m pretty sure isn’t here in the state though I could be wrong. It was like the breakfast meal I always ate the last time I went to the Philippines, and it’s one I wish I could have here all the time in the states.

I chatted with Bernard about stuff in general like if I had any plans and whatnot but I told him I don’t really have anything planned. He said I should at least plan what I want to eat since I would only be there for two weeks and said I already ate one of those things, which was the lonsilog.

When we finished eating, we headed back upstairs and waited until lunch would be served. Yes, I know I woke up early, but by the time Bernard and I had eaten breakfast it was already like around 8 or 9 and my Lola usually eats lunch at 11:30. I’m pretty sure while waiting I was doing some WoW stuff, which was knew because I do remember last time not bringing my laptop nor having a connection in the house. Yay for tech upgrades :D

I’m probably going to mix up meals throughout these blogs since It’s been almost three weeks since that day but I think my Lola cooked porkchop? It’s bound to be something pig based since we eat every part of the pig in different ways, so I’m just going to say it was porkchop. They also said that Lola bought a crap ton of Royal Tru Orange because she knows how much I loved that soda. I do still love it, but considering that I was still planning of “watching” my weight I was hesitant to sip all of it. I ended up drinking at least two small bottles and maybe a third one as well = 3 = All in all, it was good and I was pretty stuffed.

After lunch, I took a long needed shower since the last time I showered was right before my plane trip. Then Patrick and I had to go to Ayala mall since we had to go get a sim card for my old Samsung galaxy s5 so that I have a phone to use in the Philippines. We waited for Carl to come by since we were going to borrow her other car, a hyundai matrix. When we got to the mall, we went to the section that had all the tech stuff and went to a stand to buy a sim card - globe to be specific. It had been a while since I used my s5 so holding it again compared to the slimmer google pixel was weird to me. But with a sim card in my phone and with text, voice, and data active, I was able to chat with people on the go again, which is always nice.

After we got the sim I remember wanting to eat french fries from a stand at the mall but wasn’t too sure what it was called. Patrick said it was potato corner and I was in disbelief because I know of a potato corner in the Garden State Mall in the states and didn’t figure it was related to the stand here. But once I saw the small stand I realized it’s the same thing - the main difference is that the one in the states did more than just fries (tots, chips, waffle fries, curly fries) but this one was bound to be just as good. Watching what I was eating, I decided to get the second smallest size, which was about the same as the small in the states, the only difference being that in the states they try and trick you by putting a tissue cone in the cup so that you end up getting less than what you thought you would (those damn capitalists!) But nevertheless, it was just as good as I remembered six or seven years ago.

After we got fries, we also went to get Zagu... or at least we were planning to. I think they moved because I don’t remember them being in an isolated spot, and when we got there we ended up getting Quickly’s instead. I was hoping to get buko pandan shake, but they didn’t have it anymore for that day so I ended up getting Ube. It came with fruits in it that I have no idea what they were but it was a pretty good treat.

After we finished eating our snacks at a table in the food court, we were heading back to the car in the parking garage. We ended up staying outside the elevator for a few minutes because of the indecisiveness of my family in figuring out what they want to eat. Nah, just kidding. It was more a miscommunication because my Dad was saying one thing and my Mom and Carl were saying another. They finally decided to just have barbeque pork/chicken for dinner so when the plan was finalized we finally headed back to my Lola’s house.

We actually arrived at the same time as my Dad so I helped to bring his stuff back upstairs. He had gone ahead of my Mom and I to take care of some business here in the Philippines, and he had just come back from Manila. After helping him settle in, we had dinner and because I had been constantly eating, I remember being so full that I’m pretty sure with 95% confidence I passed out in my bed after eating. Which could be accurate considering I don’t really remember what else happened until the next day LOL

EDIT: So I just remembered that I did wake up again because we went to get Shakey’s pizza for midnight snack XD We got four pizzas and I told myself I’d only eat a few but I ended up eating like at least one of each pizza.

But what I do remember is waking up and doing wow dailies since I woke up mad early again due to passing out and just surfing through the internet. Then my Dad told me to get ready because we were going to go to church at 9 in the morning in a church that had AC. I obviously wasn’t going to argue with that because AC is love, AC is life in the Philippines LOL

So I ate breakfast downstairs with him getting topsilog this time (same thing as longsilog but instead of longanisa it was tappas, a meat) and then I showered afterwards. We decided to take an uber to the church and got there a little early. We went through the mass then took another uber to Ayala because my mom’s phone was acting up, so he wanted to go to where Patrick and I went to get my sim card to try and fix it. After it got fixed, we got Zagu since my mom wanted to also try it again and then we had to leave for a lunch with some of my relatives from my dad’s side of the family.

We took a cab to White Gold House which was a traditional chinese family style dining restaurant. And traditional in the sense that we had a room just for our family with the rotating circle in the center (the name slips my mind right now lol). It was mostly people from my Dad’s side of the family - one of my titos, a few of my cousins from my Dad’s cousins, and my Auntie Sandy and Ninong Roger as well, who were also in the Philippines (again, because they had to take care of some family business). The food was pretty good and Auntie Sandy gave the little kids there some gifts and candy, so you can imagine how hyper they were. All in good fun, of course.

After we ate lunch, we went back to Urgello (where my Lola’s house is) to pack up our stuff since we were going to go check in at a hotel for the first week. We had booked a room at Wellcome Hotel (no that’s not a typo) and it was a pretty nice room. Nice bathroom, space for me to set up my laptop and of course, AC :D Then we hung out at the hotel for a bit as we tried to figure out dinner plans. We decided to eat at a restaurant called Pino which had Filipino cuisine and it was eat all you can. Again, I was dying from being too full so I only went once for regular food. But they had Maha Blanca and puto and because I didn’t know if I’d be able to eat those again later on in the week, I pigged out on desserts. This made me overly full though so my Dad took me back to the hotel in a cab and then I passed out as he went back to the rest of my family at Pino.

Yeah, I was struggling the whole time with eating too much which causes me to get really sleepy. Expect to see that as a repeating thing throughout most of these posts for the Philippines lol

Also, credit to Patrick for reminding me what we did after we checked into Wellcome LOL I’m pretty sure he’ll be my main reference for my vacation so thanks Patrick if you’re reading this :D
