Hobie Brown & Anarchism: A Discussion Pt 1

Authors Note: This is my dissertation for the discourse about Hobie’s politics being misrepresented as your friendly community radical leftist

Warnings: Political Ideologies, mentions of violence and oppression

Hobie Brown is an anarchist, he would be considered a radical leftist, not just by the ideological title of anarchism but by his own actions, he has killed cops, fascists, not just one, probably many considering the Oscorp and V.E.N.O.M worldbuilding where the police and military are symbiotes.

One of the primary bases for a fascist regime is a overly abundant police force, and the police worldwide are authoritarian figures meant to protect wealth and property not people.

Anarchists can go 70/40 on the violent revolutionary means discussion, but Hobart Brown is definitely pro revolutionary violence (we will define this later on), he doesn’t like violence in his everyday life but sees it as a measure to protect people, he also understands that not everyone’s place in the revolution is through armed liberation, but that all roles in the revolution violent or otherwise are all valuable to the end goal.

That being said a very contested discourse around radical leftist politics is the divide between Marxists/Maoists/Leninist etc vs Anarchists because Anarchists believe in a non-centralized, organizational systems, some anarchists can be anarcho-primitivists; they believe in a post-revolutionary society without the heavy industrialized civilization we have now I don’t think Hobie is, he enjoys technology too much to do so but he does believe in a social organization that is communally centralized, but regardless of his ideas of the organization of people post revolution he happily shares space and works in solidarity with leftists of other thinking and practices in the struggle and fight.

What is armed revolution and revolutionary violence? Armed revolution is the act of taking arms through guerrilla warfare, community protection, clandestine operations. Revolutionary violence is pretty self-explanatory, but these two interconnects as an understanding that liberation won’t come from within the systems that oppress us, and to instead arm the people towards liberating themselves from fascism, and state sanctioned violence.

I head canon that Hobie as Spiderman works within a clandestine underground armed forces with mixed ideologies and skillset, they’re all civilians who act as an unassuming threat who focus on assassinations and bank robberies, through those victories they help Spiderman redistribute funds.

Hobie’s praxis doesn’t just extend to revolutionary violence, but he puts labor into community gardens, refurbishing abandoned lots and buildings to be used as clinics, or schools, or housing, his skills especially are shown through his engineering and technical capabilities, like siphoning electricity from higher class neighborhoods for their buildings for free, fixing heating systems, or adapting heating and water systems so that they’re controlled in the community rather than by heating and water conglomerates.

He's also a part of a group of boosters who donate and barter clothes, food and other necessities, they sell their spoils in the middle of the people’s market.

Hobie is also the best comrade during protests, he’s a human shield whether as Spiderman or as a civilian, he’s the kind of person to go head to head with five police officers to de-arrest people who get snatched during protests, he’s returned with so many broken bones and large purple bruises from being wailed on by cops, but however much they hurt him, he can return much worse, especially with his enhanced strength, its actually a pretty cool sight, he’s more likely to kills cops while masked as spiderman, he’s almost entirely focused on defensive and evasive methods as an alternative since he has many warrants out for his arrest as Hobart Brown, but Spiderman has a list of federal and international offensives that he can easily navigate with the obscured identity.

During protests he’s evacuating people to safe zones, distracting cops from looters, defending people from being arrested, creating evasive plans to destroy or disable V.E.N.O.M. technology and weapons, he’s especially adept at guerilla warfare, navigating the skyline, sewers, and alleys of New London to gain a territorial advantage because the cops can’t traverse the projects and slums as easily as someone who lives in the grime of New London.

an older brother does anything to protect his younger sibling and also find himself? sound familiar? yep, this is definitely the anime for our coups. there’s a lot of heartwarming and funny scenes, showing how there is always a light in the dark. people can always prove you wrong, and trusting in yourself is the most important part of the process. hard work always pays off!

this is essentially an anime that’s about soccer! but, the characters’ own personalities were constantly being challenged. the basis is: you have to adapt or evolve or you don’t make the cut. you can’t just win a game in a clear-cut way -- you have to learn about the way people are and how they tend to behave. you have to be able to trust your team and know their strengths/weaknesses as well. as a master strategist, this is very fitting of jeonghan!

you never really know what to expect next. at first, you kind of expect either an edgy, thrilling story about a spy or a heartwarming story about a makeshift family. but, you end up getting both. truly, you never really expect what’s coming next. very silly, but also sweet. it really just shows you that you never know what anyone is thinking inside their heads…

throwing yourself into something new is never easy. but, it’s easier when you have people you can lean on next to you! jun trusted in himself and the other members of seventeen as he broke into the kpop idol industry. usagi trusted herself, her sailor friends, and tuxedo mask in order to become a better sailor moon every day. plus, jun is sooo babygirl.

what a classic. just like how hoshi was a tiger this whole time after hiding behind his hamster persona, tamaki suoh hides his true feelings for the sake of others. only when he is truly himself around his friends and the people he loves is when he shines. a great comedic piece about being yourself and always doing what you love.

since the story revolves around komi, a soft-spoken and very shy individual who is very beautiful and her new friend who wants to help her out, the altruistic vibes suit wonwoo. seventeen helped wonwoo become more outspoken, just like tadano helps komi with her communication skills. as someone who is more introverted himself, i think wonwoo represents how sometimes you need to rely on others to get out of your shell!

a very cute and wholesome story about people who love music and just want to perform well for each other! i think a very integral part of uri jihoonie is his love of music. as these four girls discover their love for music and what it can do for themselves and others, they flourish as people too. woozi always puts his heart and soul into music, so it’s natural that an anime that can reflect that would be perfect for him.

this anime is so silly! it’s layered with meaningful and emotional arcs as well. over time, it only gets more and more deeply connected to you. luffy always says he’ll do anything for his crew, or his closest friends. this anime is all about friendship and the journey that you have in your life together with them, making it the perfect anime for dokyeom.

the plot of this anime is very complex and mysterious, which is the impression that myungho gives off at first glance. his calm and eye-catching demeanor makes it an even better surprise when you find out how kind and silly he is. this story teaches you how even a second glance is not enough and that there is often more than what meets the eye. the cute drawing style and romantic undertones also suit myungho very well!

jujutsu kaisen 

at heart, mingyu is someone that loves his friends. in the jujutsu world, the only comfort they really have is within each other. the friendship between yuuji, megumi, and nobara really shape the story in the beginning. as you get to know more, you realize that there’s a lot more that goes on. mingyu is not only a great looking guy, he’s very talented, smart, tits like toji, good at cooking, and etc. (he would also be a gojo stan.) he eats up the baseball episode! this story shows that the connections between people are crucial and to cherish the moments you have with the people around you!

haikyuu

one of the best comfort animes of all time, so of course, this is perfect for seungkwan. there’s a lot of emphasis on learning from mistakes, leaning on the people around you, and playing to your strengths. weaknesses are only there to show how much you can grow, and dreams are meant to be lived up to! friendship, the passion you have, and determination are very important aspects of life. haikyuu really teaches us to love the people around us, just like how seungkwan loves seventeen.

being different and being quirky is not a weakness -- it’s a strength. everyone has their own unique traits and abilities. even if they’re not visible to the naked eye, everyone’s worth is beyond measurement. making friends that appreciate you, having a dream to look forward to, and leaning into those eccentricities instead of trying to run away from them is what my hero academia is about. vernon embodies this completely!

there’s truly a lot of different layers to this anime, but the most noticeable is how hard everyone works towards their goals… no matter what they may be. whether they started from scratch or had talent flowing through their blood, everyone stays true to their beliefs and achieves their goals with hard work. dino is so incredibly hard-working, so this matches very well.

seasonal animes: Oshi no Ko 01-06

I mentioned a bit that I was watching this one but I never wrote anything very substantial about it, so lets remedy that!

Oshi no Ko is wild. Every time I think I know where it’s going, it goes somewhere else.

The premise already sounds pretty deranged. Here’s what I knew going in. A gynecologist is visited by the idol Hoshino Ai he’s obsessed with, who’s pregnant with twins. Just before the twins are born, he’s murdered by a stalker. He’s reborn as one of her kids, along with one of his previous patients who was also obsessed with the same idol; they’re now named Aquamarine and Ruby and have... a less than easy time containing their otaku impulses.

This sounded like a setup for some kind of Spy x Family-like comedy where the two babies with the minds of adults have to keep secret that they’re reincarnated and so forth. Maybe with a dash of Paripi Koumei with ‘unlikely strategist and hopeful young performer’ dynamic. You could easily wring a whole season out of writing scenarios around that premise.

But... hahaha it’s not that at all.

By the end of the first movie-length episode, Ai is killed by the same stalker, who then kills himself. The protagonist convinces himself that the only way the stalker could have known where to find Ai is if her secret lover, the father of the two reincarnation-babies, deliberately leaked her location. So he makes his new mission in life revenge, and we timeskip forward to when the twins - raised by Ai’s producer’s wife - are about to go to high school.

So it’s a revenge drama in a high school setting, right..? You know the type of thing, a class of genius schemers enacting plots against each other..?

No. It’s actually mostly about the entertainment industry.

An episode plot might be, the protagonist reunites with an actress he met on set during his brief stint as a child actor. Realising that it might be an opportunity to get a DNA sample of one of his list of suspects, he gets involved in the shitty TV drama she’s involved in, playing a one-episode antagonist. And despite his ulterior motive, he decides he should do the actress a favour. So, applying his nigh-supernatural analysis skills and willingness to sacrifice his own dignity, he figures out how to elevate the final episode of the production.

His sister meanwhile is dying to become an idol herself. And our ridiculous scheming boy wants to make it happen, despite underlining at every turn how harsh the entertainment industry is for performers. He emotionally manipulates the same actress girl to join.

So it’s actually one of those special-interest anime where the world revolves around one activity, and here that thing is performance (film acting and music). But it’s also a comedy and a ridiculous drama as well. It’s fun.

Visually, it’s very shiny. There’s an interesting blend of highly stylised designs for the MCs and other teens, (each MC inherited exactly one of Ai’s six-pointed eye stars and could easily lead a romance manga), and a more realist approach taken with the adults. Are we at last at the peak of eye highlight escalation? Can it go further? It makes effective use of coloured lines; there’s some very strong boards and in general the animation is solid, with moments of real greatness. Shoutout to Kenji Sawada’s excellent depiction of our boy acting as a stalker in episode 4, and whoever animated the uhhh masked strength training youtuber in episode 5. Animating realistic muscles for such a long dance sequence is a hell of a task lmao. (Good ‘long take’ gag too.)

Compared to Paripi Koumei, it has... simultaneously a more grounded view of the entertainment industry as cynical, grubby capitalism. In some ways it’s kind of a tour of the different ways people relate to the industry, the different methods people might pursue to get ahead, and it isn’t just a simple ‘path to success’ sort of thing.

But it’s also a very heightened manga spin on that, with much larger-than-life archetypal characters. It has a bit of a tendency to reiterate and underline what happened and why it’s important to a level that sometimes feels a little much (and now another round of ‘the acting sucked in this TV drama but the last episode was good’), but on the whole, it has momentum, and a talent for coming up with non-obvious scenarios and resolutions. And a great deal of it is about the actual craft of acting; it likes to play up contrast between performances and behind the scenes characterisations, and a lot of time is spent on characters talking about the right way to perform for a particular show.

Anyway, then episode 6 comes along, and things get rather Perfect Blue after the relatively light-hearted previous few episodes. This episode’s plot sees Aqua involved in a dating reality show, but the story mainly revolves around a girl who is pressured into a reckless but ultimately harmless action that gets her hard cancelled online, which she seriously takes to heart and attempts suicide. The whole show uses voiceovers heavily in the classic anime fashion, but in this episode, it’s particularly effective. ‘Storm of cruel social media comments’ is a recurring motif in a lot of anime over the last decade or so, deployed to greater (the end of Devilman Crybaby) or lesser (Belle) effect; here it’s done well, with a lot of care to recreate the UI of various social media sites, and honestly I wasn’t sure if they were going to kill this girl off or not (in the end, Aqua intervenes at the last second).

So where is this going to go in the long run? Its interests are becoming clear, Aqua talks a big game about being hard-headed but just can’t help intervening to help people out of various Situations. But I still have no idea how it will bring it together in the end!

I absolutely need to go back and watch the widely praised adaptation of Kaguya-Sama: Love is War which was by the same mangaka.

The other gift that this series brought is is one of the longest and silliest threads of fansubber drama on the whole of Nyaa, which is really saying something.

...has anyone considered yet that when she was alive Velvette came from a broken home she didn't know was broken? The way she treats Clara is the way she saw her parents or guardians treating each other and never realized it was wrong?

Velvette keeps her former life on Earth pretty hush-hush with everyone else. Luckily for her, she didn't die that relatively long ago, so most of the people in Hell aren't even familiar with the type of life she'd lead, or even recognized who she used to be. That's just fine with her. Like every other person in this shithole who changed their name almost as soon as they arrived, she'd rather that part of her existence remain a mystery, anyway.

Just as in her afterlife, Velvette had been very well off in her actual life, as well. She'd rarely known an actual day of suffering, and as titans of the fashion and film industry throughout the early 21st century, her parents flipped the bill for basically everything. Well into early adulthood, Velvette had never wanted for anything.

This had been before they'd both offed themselves sometime in the early 2010s, during some cult-like initiation ritual. Her mother had always been experimental and new-age that way. Fortunately, they'd left everything to Velvette. Unfortunately, her entire fortune had been in a trust overseen by her abusive uncle, who had then quickly offed her, too, in order to steal the inheritance. There she'd found herself awakening in Hell, armed only with a legacy she'd rather forget, and the strength of her own wits about her.

She never did find her parents down here. She figured they'd quickly met their end after their first Extermination. That's fine with her, really; they'd never had time for her anyway. All they cared about was the next big score, and she took that as a life lesson in her future here in the afterlife, where she quickly used her unique set of skills, and sometimes even her own body, to siphon as much influence as she could from the men in power here. She'd allied herself with some of the most promising rising upstarts, and together, they'd formed a monolith the likes of which Hell had never seen before.

Velvette's happy with her life now. Except she isn't. Not really. But she'll continue to wear that mask, for as long as it's advantgeous to her. The ends justify the means, as the saying goes. Whether or not that's true, she's going to live by it, nonetheless.

Minetaverse | Rei Midoriya

Rei Midoriya, also known as Polarise, is an antagonist in the Minetaverse. She is a first year heroics student at Ultra Academy training to become a pro hero, and later chooses to become a Spotlight Hero.

She is the daughter of Izuku and Shoto Midoriya, and heiress to the Skyscraper of Symbols Agency.

APPEARANCE

Rei is a moderately tall well built girl. She has long turquoise hair typically fashioned into goddess braids, usually without bangs. Her eyes are square but wide, with her irises being turquoise as well. She is always wearing gold jewelry, like rings, necklaces, earrings, and bracelets.

Rei's school uniform consists of the standard white long sleeve undershirt and red tie, but she does not typically wear the blazer. It instead rests on the back of her desk chair. She wears the assigned blue skirt with see-through black leggings. On her feet are low white heels.

Rei's casual clothes consist of a white dress with a gold studded belt cinching it at the waist. She has a light teal topcoat over her showers with gold buttons. She wears white kitten heels, and gold frame teal lens sunglasses on her head. She typically has a white bag on a gold chain as well.

Rei's hero uniform consists of a sleeveless white bodysuit as the base. She has an off the shoulder teal winter jacket with a hood, the entire inside is lined with white fur. The metallic zipper and ridges are made of gold. Underneath the jacket is a gold belt cinched at the waist with a monogramed 'P' in the center. On her head is a pair of white lined winter goggles with gold decal and teal lens. On her feet is a pair of teal boots with white fur, and gold plated tips with gritt underneath for traction.

FASHION

PERSONALITY

Rei Midoriya is a rich bitch, to put it simply.

Rei has a warped view of herself, seeing herself as the queen of wherever she goes due to her lineage and a lack of (permanent) consequences as a child. She can play nice with others, but only if they are of a significant status as well. The only individuals she isn't malicious or scheming to are her fathers and childhood friend Isao Ojiro-Shinsou-Rin.

Rei places herself as the ideal prodigy in her mind and not taking kindly to those who threaten her worldview. Particularly the ShunCrew, due to their unheroic backgrounds. This translates into passive aggressive and backhanded actions towards them, such as excluding them from class events and sabotaging them at points.

This eventually culminates in being pulled from Ultra Academy by her parents for bullying and making a comment where she suggests the ShunCrew should have committed suicide long ago along with completely losing every groupie she has ever had including her marring her reputation with her parents.

The rest of Rei Midoriya's future is currently up in the air, but she refused to end her story so soon.

ABILITIES

Analytical Mind: Rei has a vast knowledge of fundamental hero skills and tactics. She studied major players in the industry for years and is able to quickly adapt and apply knowledge during crisis situations in a practical manner.

QUIRK

Half-Cold Half-Hot Breathe is Rei Midoriya's primary quirk, giving her the ability to generate ice and fire from her throat. Her quirk is immensely strong due to her parents physical and quirk strength, and she can use her quirk for hours straight without drawback.

STATISTICS

Despite the strength of her quirk, it does have a major drawback. If anything happens to her throat, her quirk is immediately nullified. This can happen through overuse of one element causing frostbite or burns, or with a muzzle like mask.

Supermoves:

Wall of Ice: Rei creates an enormous ice glacier, that can either encapsulate her opponent or block the immediate field of battle in ice.

Wall of Fire: Rei uses her fire to generate a burst of flames that covers a large area. This is both a defensive and offensive attack like her Wall of Ice technique.

Ice Skater: Rei uses her frost breath to create a line of ice for her to ride on.

BACKGROUND

Due to her lineage, Rei Midoriya grew up as Japan's golden child. Her position on a national pedestal was not good for her development, along with her fathers failure to apply or carry out repercussions, which caused her to start developing a warped view of herself.

She had difficulty making friends, which lead her fathers to introduce her to Isao Ojiro-Shinsou-Rin who was also having difficulties making friends. The two became close, and started to train together and ruminate on their futures.

One night, Rei attended a charity banquet where she met the most beautiful lady. Ahyma Shouji was tall, muscular, eloquent, and well spoken. Rei immediately fell head over heels in love. Though she must admit their first meeting was ruined by the backdrop of individuals in badly tailored clothes and from places she swore was made up just so they could mooch off her fathers.

Eventually she participates in the Ultra Academy entrance exam at the insistence of her fathers and gets in much to her pleasure.

RELATIONSHIPS

Isao Ojiro-Shinsou-Rin is Rei's closest and longest friend. The two were introduced due to difficulty making friends their own age, and became quite close throughout the years even participating in the Ultra Academy entrance exam together.

Isao is seen as a part of Rei's groupies for the longest time, despite warming up to the ShunCrew early on. He mainly sticks with Rei due to their history, but is shown. Eventually he leaves when Rei starts targeting Ayu Koroka and Elaos Santos especially for their 'villainous' quirks, due to his father Shinsou facing the same discrimination even in the future.

Him leaving was a huge blow to Rei, which caused her to go further off the deep end.

Ahyma Shouji is Rei's long-term crush. Though they don't date, Rei gets angry when Ahyma becomes interested in Koroka Ayu instead. She tells Koroka about Ahyma's crush, making an emphasis on how obvious it is, causing Koroka to go into a mental spiral and stops being friends with Ahyma.

Jokes on Rei though, as the two become friends again later after a long talk. During the talk, Ahyma learns Rei was the one to leak her crush destroying any trust between the two and Ahyma breaking off her friendship with Rei.

Genkei Bakugou has had a crush on Rei for the longest time, not realizing she is lesbian. He spends a good chunk of the series doing anything for her with the hopes of a date, but in the end when he overstays his usefulness Rei reveals she never loved him. This sparks Genkei's own mental spiral which ends with him being disowned and then running away to the states. Rei shows very little remorse for her part.

Isis Ayad only hung around Rei to forge good relations between her family and the top hero in Japan. She was never a true member of Rei's groupies, and was never a fan of Rei. In fact, she was secretly collecting evidence of Rei's bullying and underhanded tactics from day one due to her family instilling in her a sense of justice.

Koroka Ayu is Rei's rival, though Koroka does not return this sentiment. Rei has a deep hatred of Koroka due to her unheroic heritages, jealousy over Ahyma's crush on her (and perceived reason why Ahyma leaves Rei), and eventual popularity. Koroka doesn't like Rei due to her bratty nature, and her attacks on the ShunCrew.

Iori Kano never made a particularly strong impression on Rei for most of their interactions until she comments on the ShunCrew should have taken their own lives. Fed up with her being a bitch to his found family, Iori finally makes his presence known and snacks a bitch.

SukeCrew is at the center of Rei's scorn, often being shunned and belittled by her. While at first the group doesn't perceive her as a particular threat, eventually Rei goes to more and more drastic measures. For instance she steals Eloas Santos and Koroka Ayu's meds, and places them in Shunsuke Mineta's room in an attempt to frame him and tear the group apart. Another moment is her attempting to report Santos and Yamamoto for being illegal immigrants, only to be blocked at the last moment by the student visa administered to them by her father. As previously stated, their last interaction with her is after she makes a comment where she suggests the ShunCrew should have committed suicide long ago along.

A master of the art of alcoholic beverages, they say Siris’ rise to power was simply that of an uncontested domination. None could even come close to measuring with the infamous concoctions of the brewmaster demon. But of course, it is not skill alone that makes one an overlord: his strength was nothing to scoff at, having fought for and claimed a luxurious building for himself right in the middle of the city he dwells in. That building went on to be his signature bar: Dionysia, one of the most coveted nightclubs in Hell.

Tidbits

Siris is known to wear a mask at all times in public appearances, to the point where the true features of his face are a popular point of gossip.

It’s rumored that the overlord goes undercover to get more ideas or make more connections, using his malleable features to keep himself from being detected.

Every beverage that comes from his side of the industry has his emblem (a simple icon of his masked face with a sharp crown) carved somewhere on the bottle.

Dionysia is a nightclub with many facets: it runs a strip club, a casino, a fight ring, rentable rooms, and even is part hotel! Of course, only partly, as the hotel is mainly used by those who black out while there or guests from the strip club. Part of these joint functions were worked out with other overlords in order to not be seen as direct competition, made possible by Siris’ more sociable personality. And rumored drugging-

What may be the most mysterious part about the brewmaster demon is his legs: more specifically, his lack thereof when it comes to his lower legs. In their place, he walks on thin prosthetics. This was not always the case: some say he lost them after escaping an exorcist, others say a previous partner must’ve betrayed him and cut them off with an angelic weapon. Siris has yet to even acknowledge these rumors.

Siris is known to most often appear in his special high-class parlor in Dionysia known as the “Brewmaster’s Lounge”. The few who have met him describe him as surprisingly soft spoken, charismatic, and compassionate with an almost complete lack of ego. Some claim his in person personality is “the last thing you’d expect to see in an Overlord.” Of course, rumor is that this so-called darling side of his is just a tightly woven lie.

Directed by Sam Raimi, this superhero film stars Tobey Maguire in the official big screen debut of the Marvel comic book character Peter Parker, aka Spider-Man.

The rest of the cast includes: Kirsten Dunst as love interest Mary Jane “MJ” Watson, who Peter is too shy to ask out, Willem Dafoe as scientist and industrialist Norman Osborn/Green Goblin, James Franco as Norman’s son and Peter’s best friend Harry Osborn, Cliff Robertson as Uncle Ben Parker, Rosemary Harris as Aunt May Parker, J.K. Simmons as newspaper editor-in-chief J. Jonah Jameson and Elizabeth Banks as secretary Betty Brant. Some celebrity appearances include: professional wrestler Randy “Macho Man” Savage, Octavia Spencer as a sign-in woman, Lucy Lawless as a punk girl who comments on Spider-Man and Macy Gray as herself.

Tobey Maguire convincingly plays the lead in a way that’s both touching and a “Spider Sense” of amazement, which is just how Peter’s transition from a social outsider to a recognized hero is depicted. Peter not only develops spider-like powers, but as Spider-Man, he occasionally taunts the bad guys as a way to make them go nuts for the fun of it. Willem Dafoe is both stellar and terrifying for different reasons. As Norman, he plays an individual who devotes much of his time trying to work his way to the top. As the Green Goblin (both a split personality and a costumed figure), he alters his voice to a more sinister tone, releasing a demonic manifestation of power, intelligence and chemically-induced insanity. Kirsten Dunst plays Mary Jane in a similar fashion to the comics: a popular, “life of the party” type of girl. James Franco is the perfect embodiment of someone who tries to win the affection of his workaholic father, who instantly forms a bond with Peter as they have much in common with science. Harry also has a crush on Mary Jane, one of a couple things that gradually causes some tension between him and Peter. Dafoe and Franco not only look exactly like their characters, but they ultimately make the strained relationship between father and son believable. In fact, the surrogate relationship between Peter and Norman is the central storyline of the movie. Following a family tragedy, Peter turns to the father of his best friend who’s also Spider-Man’s greatest enemy, increasing both the mood and action. J.K. Simmons captures the essence of J. Jonah Jameson’s short-tempered behavior as he makes relentless attempts to besmirch Spider-Man out of resentment. He hires Peter as a freelance photographer, but is unaware that his employee is the masked vigilante he considers a criminal.

Much of the action includes the combined elements of dynamic visual effects, CGI, explosions and stunt coordination. A majority of the film shows Tobey Maguire and Willem Dafoe throwing punches at each other and hoisted up by wires (specifically when Spidey jumps from rooftop to rooftop and swings around with his web-shooting skills, while the Goblin flies on a high-tech, maneuverable glider). Spider-Man’s wall-climbing is an optical illusion that’s nothing short of spectacular. Kirsten Dunst is even shown in some of the action sequences since her character is also the occasional damsel in distress.

A crucial part of the movie is the costume design for both Spider-Man and the Green Goblin. Each suit (and mask) represents the contrasting color scheme and reputation of the hero and villain. The red and blue Spidey outfit is a symbol of justice. His mask, complete with one-way lenses, conceals his true identity as a normal boy from the public. Norman’s green armor is a sign of enhanced military strength and a reflection of his wealthy background as founder and CEO of his own company known as Oscorp Industries. His mask strikes fear since it enhances the persona of a ghoul. In fact, the Green Goblin is a Halloween-themed supervillain whose weapons resemble bats and pumpkins. Despite the constant clashing of the two, the Goblin at one point offered Spider-Man a chance to join forces with him. However, the web-slinger refused, putting himself at risk and his loved ones in peril by the third act.

One romantic scene has become an iconic moment in film history: the upside-down kiss between Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst. Spider-Man hangs from a web as Mary Jane gives him a sign of gratitude after he’s saved her from a group of thugs in the pouring rain. He allows her to remove only part of his mask to make it happen, but the beauty of it is she doesn’t bother to figure out who’s behind the mask, even if she suspects it could be Peter.

The soundtrack features a collection of original hit songs written exclusively for the movie: “Hero” by Chad Kroeger (featuring Josey Scott), “It’s What We’re All About” by Sum 41, “Bother” by Corey Taylor, “When It Started” by The Strokes, “Hate to Say I Told You So” by the Hives, “My Nutmeg Phantasy” by Macy Gray and a cover version of the “Theme from Spider-Man” by Aerosmith.

Finally, the memo of the film is an old phrase, which inspired Peter to use his newfound abilities to defend people from criminal injustice and has become a significant quote in pop culture history: “With great power comes great responsibility”. Ocean's Film Opening

Introspection:

In making this video, I learned how to use the camera stabiliser, some shooting angles, arranging and directing the actors, and the unspoken rules of making a movie. In this film, although I had used the stabiliser, I still had hand tremours in most of the shots, and some of the camera values were not adjusted properly when I shot, it caused me that most of the storyboards were dark. I need to find solutions and improve the above two problems.

In this film, I was responsible for the writing, video editing, shooting, and acting. In this film, I referred to some of the actions in a trailer of backroom, and also looked at the works made by others. In the shooting process, because most of the shots need to be shot at sunset time, so the video was divided into more than 10 days to shoot. Before writing the script, I went to watch some instructional videos on script writing and followed the advice of the videos. In order to complete this work, I tried to learn video editing by myself, in fact, I got a new skill.

What is backroom？

Backroom is a world that is relative to the real world Earth Frontroom, the total area cannot be measured, it is divided into different sizes of various Spaces - Levels. And these Levels are actually made up of the Liminal Space that can bring about a sense of depression and weirdness. As the number of authors grew, this became a forgotten setting.
