totally random question but do you read supercorp fics? and if yes, which ones are your favorites?
i absolutely read supercorp fics! i've been devouring ao3 basically since i finished the show. here are a few of my faves: people will say we're in love by AKAWWJJD - this was recommended to me by a friend and was the second ever supercorp fic i read. it's angsty, but it's BEAUTIFUL and it's one of my favorite fics from any fandom, ever. it's basically a rewrite of crisis and the aftermath of that (with a heartbreaking, post-reveal beginning), and it's just so, so good. it really set the bar for me in terms of supercorp fics and i still think about it to this day. it's heartbreaking and poignant and just. perfect.
the banks of certain rivers and ever more light by @i-am-robie - these two go together, but if you only read one, read ever more light (although i highly suggest reading both). i found this one through a gifset based on the fic, and i am SO happy i did. this is the fic that made me believe in fluff again. i'm not kidding, before i found this fic, if it wasn't tagged as angst, i was not reading it. this one? completely changed my opinion. it's so soft and sweet and it gives you the same butterflies and good feelings kara gets around lena. i actually love these so much that i am in the process of binding them into a book.
same old blues by @searidings - this one is, in my opinion, hands down the best portayal of lena i've read so far. it captures her anger and hurt and emotions so well and it just feels exactly like lena. it picks up after the end of season four and is exactly how i imagine lena's reaction to kara being supergirl. obviously it's canon divergent, but this one just really nails lena. it's angsty and emotional and just SO good. the author describes it as "horny enemies to lovers" in their note and that really sums it up pretty well.
you're in my blood, like holy wine by @jazzfordshire - this one is one of my favorite AUs. it's a loose practical magic AU with witch!lena, but much more developed and fleshed out than in the show. not only does it have really well written supercorp, but it also showcases a really well done friendship between lena and sam. i'm gonna be real i'm very picky about AUs, but this one GOT me. i definitely recommend it.
i also highly recommend checking out all four of those authors' other works. robie has an AU that i really enjoyed, searidings has a fun little competitive supercorp one shot, jazzfordshire has one of my favorite smutty one shots, and AKAWWJJD has a mxy rewrite that is just wonderful.
i've read so many more that were really worth reading, so i highly recommend scrolling through the supercorp tag on ao3 and filtering out the results to find ones you might be into. i could've mentioned a bunch more that i enjoyed, but i figured i'd keep it to my top four and the honorable mentions because the authors all happened to have multiple i love. i've also got like, more than 40 open ao3 tabs currently, so i know my favorites list will definitely be growing.

Scent (fluffy supercorp ficlet, post-6)
She… she had done nothing wrong. Catholic guilt is a bitch.
Those were the thoughts in Lena’s head as she wandered down the hallway to Kara’s apartment - cookies in hand, freshly showered, ready for a movie night that would no doubt result in the two women cuddling in bed together as they fell asleep, Lena agonizing over what could never happen with her straight best friend.
Things felt so settled now, so final. Oddly calm after Lex and Nyxly had been dragged to the phantom zone. Kara and Lena had worked so hard to repair their friendship - and with each step closer they took, the pain in Lena’s chest would flare, the desire to want something more and knowing she could never have it.
Her friendship had rebuilt with Andrea, too. It took practice, learning to forgive, learning to see the fears and circumstances that can drive one to do unforgivable things. But it only felt right, to learn to give others grace, for all the grace her friends had given her.
She didn’t expect to fall into bed with Andrea that morning. It felt like an apology, an absolution. It felt like a way to calm her desperate body down before she went to see Kara. And in the aftermath, it had been clear to both Lena and Andrea that this wasn’t a flame that could be rekindled. But there was kindness and there was friendship, and there was a tranquility as Lena approached Kara’s door.
The knob turned when Lena was three steps away, Kara opening the door with her characteristic smile, clearly having picked up on Lena’s heartbeat or footsteps with her superhearing. It made something warm and fuzzy bubble up in Lena’s chest, how eager Kara was to see her.
“Hey!” Kara said cheerfully, as Lena stepped inside, Kara’s arms going around Lena’s shoulders in a hug, Lena grabbing tightly in return as Kara continued, “So I was thinking we could watch Labyrinth? It’s classic, Davie Bowie and puppets-”
And then Kara froze.
Lena frowned in confusion, stepping back as their hug suddenly finished, Kara’s eyes darting between Lena’s with a shocked expression, a hint of red rising in her cheeks.
“Darling? Are you okay?”
“Y-yeah,” Kara said, shaking off her sudden nerves like a dog. “Uh. Movie?” Kara said, her demeanor almost back to normal.
Lena smiled - confused, but sufficiently soothed. “Labyrinth sounds fine.”
So they popped some popcorn, unpacked the cookies Lena brought, and took their seats on the couch for the movies to begin. But… something was off, Kara somehow tucked to the opposite side, only their feet lightly touching instead of the usual cuddling up against each other, arms wrapped around or someone’s head on someone’s thigh.
Lena looked up as the movie played, missing the warmth, wondering where the familiarity had suddenly gone. Kara’s eyes were on the screen, but it seemed her mind was wondering, and Lena was itching to know why.
Lena turned back to the TV, letting the movie play, her mind searching. Kara had seemed totally normal in the Tower the previous day, when they had decided on a movie night. And normal when she opened the door, even. Until they hugged…
Oh.
Lena could feel the tempo of her heart increase, as she mulled the possibilities. Superstrength, yes. But also superhearing. Supervision…
Fuck.
“Lena?” Kara asked, her eyes - now concerned - on the brunette, no doubt due to Lena’s racing heartbeat. “Are you okay?”
Lena leaned forward, grabbing the remote and pausing the movie, before leaning back again.
“You… you have superscent?” Lena asked, eyes firmly on the coffee table rather than Kara’s face. But she didn’t need to look to know that Kara’s eyes were widening.
“I, um…”
“Even…” Lena swallowed. “Even after I showered…”
“It’s barely there, Lena,” Kara said softly. “And it’s not my business.”
The gentleness in Kara’s voice finally gave Lena the bravery to look up. “I- I don’t have to spend the night, Kara,” Lena whispered.
Kara’s eyes widened. “No! No, Lena, it’s not- it doesn’t bother me-”
“It does,” Lena said simply. “That- that’s okay, I don’t want to make you uncomfortable-”
“I’m not uncomfortable!”
“You’re all the way across the couch,” Lena said dryly.
Kara’s shoulders fell, in seeming realization - that in her pensive state, she hadn’t been as physically affectionate as usual, she had pulled back instead - “Oh Rao, Lena, that’s not what I meant.”
Lena bit at her lip, looking down, swallowing hard in an effort to remain composed. I should go home.
“It’s just, I thought you were straight, and…”
“I get it, Kara.”
“And I’m jealous.”
Lena blinked, looking back up, to a Kara whose face was red with embarrassment but whose eyes were clear with resolve. Kara had long ago promised to stop hiding things, as uncomfortable as it may be, and Lena knew how hard Kara was fighting against her instincts. “There is nothing wrong with you,” Kara said vehemently. “I just need to get my feelings for you under control. That’s all.”
Feelings for me? Lena blinked again. “Don’t.”
“Don’t what?” Kara asked, confused.
“Don’t get your feelings under control.”
Kara’s brow crunched, confusion, before shifting into the slightest tinge of hope. “But you’re with-”
“I’m not. And we were both very clear on that. I’m not with her. It was a goodbye more than anything.”
“Oh,” Kara said, her eyes widening, the hope turning into the barest hint of a smile. “Really?”
“Really,” Lena said firmly.
Kara shifted a bit on the couch. “I-” She looked down on her knees, thoughtful. “I’m going to ask you out tomorrow. Properly. With flowers and everything.” Lena grinned. “I’m going to say yes.”
Kara glanced up, smiling back. “Movie?”
“Of course.”
Lena pressed play again, the two falling into their normal habits - Kara’s head ending up in Lena’s lap, as Lena combed her fingers through her hair, before they eventually ended up in bed, for their very last platonic sleepover.

OMG CONGRATS ON PUBLISHING!!! I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU! I know you're probably going to be overwhelmed with messages as this news spreads but this is just so wonderful and has honestly made me smile so big today because this is so cool for you. And for all of us because I am THRILLED to be able to buy your book 😁 I've heard of fic authors being approached by publishers before but I feel like it's just such a rare thing and I'm just really curious how this all came about. Would you mind sharing it with us if you can? If not, totally cool. Congrats again. Small town au was the first fic of yours I read and I still read it several times per year. I'm so pumped to see it in novel form! You deserve it so much.
Thank you!!!!
It was honestly very out of the blue, Ylva genuinely just messaged me and asked if I was interested in publishing with them lmao. I think nobody at Ylva really reads supercorp, but they publish fic from other fandoms and they had I believe an intern? Who recommended my stuff (whoever you are thank you, you're a real one), and after reading they said they were interested based on a few of my AUs.
I actually said no initially because I don't want to delete the originals and also didn't think I would be good at published fiction, but we had a few video chats and they've been super super kind and encouraging (and they let authors decide whether they want to delete the fic or not, so I can keep it online) so I'm giving it a go!

The gentle vibration of Lena's watch acted as her personal alarm, rousing her from the realm of dreams into a reality more blissful than she could have ever imagined. She blinked away sleep, her eyes adjusting to the soft light filtering through the curtains. Lena's arms instinctively tightened around the warm, naked form of Kara, who remained sound asleep, blissfully unaware of the early hour.
A smile tugged at Lena's lips as she looked upon Kara's adorable slumbering face. Her tousled hair cascaded around her, an unruly halo that only added to her enchanting allure. Lena's gaze traced the delicate lines of Kara's features—the gentle curve of her cheek, the slight pout of her lips, and the serene expression that painted her face.
In the tranquility of the moment, Lena's heart swelled with an overwhelming sense of gratitude. She was captivated by the sight of Kara, at peace in her arms. It was in these moments, where the outside world was hushed and time seemed to stand still, that Lena truly appreciated what the universe had given her.
With great care, Lena extricated herself from Kara's embrace, untangling their limbs one by one. As she moved, Kara stirred, letting out a soft grumble and instinctively pulling Lena closer. Lena's smile widened, her heart fluttering with warmth at Kara's unconscious desire to keep her close.
Unable to resist the temptation, Lena leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on Kara's forehead, her lips lingering for a brief moment. She whispered softly, as if the words were meant for Kara's dreams alone, "I'll be back, my love."
Treading lightly, Lena tip-toed around the room, careful not to disturb Kara's peaceful slumber. Her movements were slow and deliberate, in an effort to not disturb Kara. She reached for her clothes, pausing occasionally to steal glances at Kara, unable to resist the allure of her presence.
She marveled at the way the soft morning light played upon Kara's features, enhancing her natural radiance. Lena's heart ached with a sense of wonder, knowing that she had found her forever in Kara.
As Lena finished dressing, she stood at the threshold of the room, her eyes once again drawn to the slumbering form on the bed before moving towards the kitchen, busying herself with making her morning coffee. As the aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air, Lena made her way to her home office, barefoot and focused. She settled into her chair, surrounded by the familiar comforts of her workspace. Today, she had an important project to tackle, something that required her undivided attention for the upcoming week.
She delved into her work but her thoughts occasionally drifted to Kara. She couldn't help but wonder when her girlfriend would finally awaken from her peaceful slumber. But she knew that Kara deserved the rest that weekends offered. While Lena admired Kara's unwavering commitment and selflessness, she couldn't help but feel a surge of protectiveness. She wanted nothing more than for Kara to experience rest, relaxation, and the freedom from the burdens she carried. Lena recognized the toll that Kara's superhero duties and long work hours took on her, and she made it her mission to make Kara's weekends as relaxing as possible.
Hours passed, and the clock struck 9 am. With a contented smile, Lena closed her laptop and rose from her desk. It was time to fulfill one of her favourite weekend rituals—one that never failed to make her happy. Lena made her way to the kitchen, her steps light.
In the kitchen, Lena set to work, preparing a delicious breakfast for Kara. She cracked eggs into a bowl, expertly whisking them before pouring them onto the sizzling pan. The aroma of bacon filled the room, mingling with the scent of freshly flipped pancakes. She carefully brewed Kara's coffee just the way she liked it, knowing that the aroma would soon entice her from her slumber.
As Lena cooked, a sense of contentment enveloped her. This simple act of making breakfast for Kara had become something special, something she looked forward to. A testament to the love she felt for Kara. Each time, Kara's surprise and excitement for the meal only deepened Lena's appreciation for the woman in her life.
It hadn't always been this way. Lena recalled the years they had spent hiding behind fears and uncertainties, denying the undeniable connection that had always simmered beneath the surface. The tension between them had been palpable, but it took time and circumstance to bring them together, and she was grateful for every turn that brought them to this moment.
Now, as she stood in the kitchen, filling plates with eggs, bacon, and fluffy pancakes, Lena couldn't help but feel a profound sense of gratitude. Kara's presence in her life had transformed everything, turning the mundane into the extraordinary. She marveled at how a simple act of making breakfast for her girlfriend could make her so happy.
Lena carefully arranged the tray, placing the freshly cooked breakfast and steaming coffee upon it. With the tray in her hands, Lena made her way back to the bedroom.
Pushing open the door, she entered the room to find Kara still nestled in the bed, sound asleep. The soft morning light filtered through the curtains, casting a gentle glow upon her peaceful form. Lena's heart fluttered as she approached the bed, captivated by the sight of her beautiful partner, a vision of serenity.
With a smile playing on her lips, Lena set the tray on the night stand and leaned down, placing a tender kiss on Kara's soft lips. "Good morning, darling," she whispered, her voice carrying a mixture of affection and warmth.
Kara stirred, her sleepy smile breaking through as her eyes slowly fluttered open, adjusting to the gentle light. She wrapped the sheets around her naked body as she sat up, the morning air giving a slight chill to the room. As her gaze met Lena's, a spark ignited within her, and a smile that could melt hearts spread across her face. "Morning, beautiful," Kara greeted, her voice filled with love and adoration.
Lena's heart skipped a beat, as it did every morning when Kara greeted her with such genuine affection. The way Kara looked at her, as if she held the entire world in her eyes, made Lena feel so special. It was a feeling she could never tire of.
Lena's smiled as Kara's sleepy eyes widened in excitement at the sight of the carefully prepared breakfast tray. She brought it to the bed, placing it between them, creating a cozy space for breakfast in bed with her girlfriend.
Lena found herself entranced by Kara's presence as they ate. Her gaze wandered, admiring the way Kara's hair fell in tousled waves, framing her face with an ethereal beauty. The intimacy of sharing breakfast in bed, the simple act of spending a Sunday morning together, held a significance that transcended the ordinary.
As they finished their breakfast, Kara leaned in, capturing Lena's lips in a sweet morning kiss, filled with tenderness and affection. Lena could tase the bitterness of the coffee and the sweetness of the pancakes on Kara's lips.
Kara stood up, allowing the sheet to gracefully fall from her body, and Lena's eyes traced every curve, every line that made up Kara's exquisite form. The morning light danced upon her skin, accentuating her beauty in a way that took Lena's breath away.
Kara turned to Lena, her eyes sparkling with playful mischief, and issued an invitation that sent a shiver of anticipation down Lena's spine. "Join me for a shower, Miss Luthor?" she asked, her voice laced with both innocence and seduction.
A surge of heat flushed through Lena's body. She nodded, her voice husky with desire, "Certainly, Miss Danvers."
As Lena followed Kara into the bathroom, she couldn't help but notice the perfection of the moment.
--
Lena stepped out of the shower, wrapping her towel around her, the steam from the bathroom still clinging to her skin. She followed Kara into the room, the echoes of Kara's touch, which had brought her to the peak of pleasure mere moments ago, still reverberating within her and the taste of Kara lingering on her lips.
Before getting dressed, Lena pressed a soft kiss to Kara's lips and Kara smiled, lighting up the overcast day.
As Lena dressed, she couldn't help but steal glances at Kara, who mirrored her actions. The sight of Kara slipping on Lena's old MIT sweatshirt tugged at her heartstrings. It was a seemingly insignificant gesture, but one that held profound meaning. Lena knew it was cheesy, but the sight of Kara in her clothes always made her happy. She thought back to the night she had first lent Kara the sweatshirt. It had been a casual movie night at Lena's penthouse, back when they were still just friends and hiding behind their fears, when Kara, in her adorably clumsy manner, had accidentally spilled wine on her shirt, leaving an indelible stain. Lena had offered her the sweatshirt to change into.
The following morning, Lena had walked past the guest bedroom and caught a glimpse of Kara peacefully asleep, her face nestled against the fabric of the sweatshirt. Lena had felt a surge of happiness, a glimpse into a potential future with Kara, even though fear held her back from pursuing it fully. In that moment, she had wished that she was waking up next to Kara, instead of in a different bed. She never asked for the sweatshirt back, thinking that it had never looked as good as it did on Kara. And now, she watched as her girlfriend slipped into that same sweater, and marvelled at how their relationship had shifted into something greater than she could have ever dared to wish for.
Lena, now clad in a cozy sweater, observed Kara's struggle with her tousled hair, a mischievous smirk playing on her lips. She knew all too well that the disarray was a result of her desperate fingers that had been tangled in Kara's hair just a few minutes ago. Unable to resist, Lena stepped forward, positioning herself behind Kara, their bodies lightly brushing against each other.
Gently, Lena gathered Kara's hair, skillfully pulling it up into a neat ponytail. Lena couldn't help but press a tender kiss to Kara's neck, feeling the delightful hitch in Kara's breath. Sensing Kara's reaction, Lena's heart skipped a beat.
Kara turned around, her lips meeting Lena's in a kiss that immediately reignited Lena's desire. They reluctantly broke the kiss, their panting breaths mingling in the air.
"Darling, if we continue like this, we'll never leave this room," Lena whispered, her voice laced with a mix of playfulness and longing.
Kara's lips curved into a mischievous smile. "Maybe that wouldn't be such a bad thing," she teased.
Lena chuckled, her fingers tenderly brushing against Kara's cheek. "As tempting as that sounds, my love, I do have some work to finish," she admitted reluctantly.
Kara pouted adorably, her brows furrowing in a mock plea. "Can't you take a break? We could watch a movie together," she suggested.
Lena's resistance wavered and she smiled, giving in to Kara.
"Alright, I'll join you on the couch," she agreed, her voice tinged with amusement. "But I'm bringing my laptop so I can work while we watch," she added, a hint of doubt creeping into her words. She knew deep down that productivity would be a distant memory in Kara's presence.
A gentle rain began to fall outside as they snuggled up on the couch, a soft blanket enveloping them and Kara leaned comfortably against Lena. Lena immediately abandoned any thought of work, completely captivated by the presence of Kara beside her. Instead of opening her laptop, she wrapped her arms lovingly around Kara, pulling her closer.
With a bowl of popcorn nestled between them, Kara took charge of the movie selection, choosing a ridiculously scary film that promised thrills and chills. As the tension built on the screen, Kara couldn't help but react to every jump scare, her startled jumps accompanied by infectious laughter from Lena. With each suspenseful twist and unexpected scare, Kara's body jolted, eliciting genuine jumps and yelps. The contrast between Kara's invincible nature and her vulnerability to cinematic frights amused Lena to no end.
As Kara absentmindedly fed Lena popcorn, Lena's fingers playfully grazed Kara's cheek, tenderly brushing stray strands of hair behind her ear. She pressed a gentle kiss to Kara's head, and in that moment, the world outside seemed to fade away, leaving only the two of them enveloped in their own little universe.
--
Later that evening, Lena stood by the kitchen counter, a warm smile gracing her lips as she watched Kara expertly mix cookie batter. They were eagerly preparing a batch of cookies in anticipation of a visit from Alex, Kelly, and Lena's adorable goddaughter, Esme.
As Lena's gaze traveled up Kara's face, she noticed a dusting of flour on Kara's cheek. Lena's smiled, finding the sight irresistibly adorable. With a soft chuckle, she leaned in, her thumb gently wiping away the flour as she pressed a kiss to Kara's lips.
"Seems like you've got a little something right here," Lena murmured. "You know, you're incredibly adorable like this," she continued, capturing Kara's lips in another sweet kiss. Lena's hands instinctively found their place on Kara's waist, pulling her closer as the kiss deepened. She could taste the sweetness of the batter that Kara had tried as she mixed. The bowl of cookie batter slipped out of Kara's hands, and landed on the counter with a loud clatter, causing them to break apart laughing. Thankfully, it landed the right way, and the batter was safe.
Kara glanced up, a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. "If you keep distracting me like that, there will be no cookies and you'll have to explain that to Esme."
Lena laughed, holding her hands up.
"Okay, okay. No more distractions. I don't want to suffer Esme's wrath."
Kara grinned at Lena as she picked up the cookie batter again. They resumed their baking duties, their movements synchronized as they mixed, scooped, and placed cookie dough on the baking sheet.
"Esme is growing up so fast," Kara said with a fond smile, leaning against the counter as Lena carefully placed the final tray of cookies in the oven, "I can't believe it'll be her birthday soon. We need to find her the perfect birthday gift."
Lena nodded as she picked up the bowl of leftover batter, scooping some out with her fingers to taste, her mind already spinning with ideas. "I was thinking something cool, like a drone or a mini electric car."
Kara chuckled. "Maybe for this birthday we could think a bit smaller. Something cute and small that won't cause absolute destruction to their house?"
Lena always wanted to spoil Esme, because what was the point of being a billionaire if she couldn't spend a lot of money on the people she loved? And she loved that little girl so much. But she knew that Kara was right. Esme could be a handful and putting a drone control, or the steering wheel of a little car in those little hands could only lead to disaster.
"Okay," Lena relented, "We'll go shopping next weekend. To find something small," She jokingly rolled her eyes as she said the last part and Kara stuck her tongue out at Lena.
Just then, the elevator's cheerful ding announced the arrival of their guests. Kara's face lit up with a wide grin, knowing that Alex, Kelly, and Esme had finally arrived. But as they left the kitchen, a whirlwind of energy collided with Lena, catching her off guard and sending her tumbling to the floor. It was Esme, the little bundle of joy, who had thrown herself into Lena's arms with uncontainable excitement.
But the excitement didn't stop there. As Lena tried to stand up, Kara, unable to resist the playfulness, launched herself on top of the hugging duo. Esme's giggles filled the air as she squirmed and wriggled, thoroughly tickled by the combined efforts of Lena and Kara. The sound of their laughter mixed with Esme's infectious joy, creating a harmonious melody of purehappiness.
Alex and Kelly entered, witnessing the scene with fond exasperation. Looking at Kelly, Alex playfully muttered, "They're all children," shaking her head at the sight before them.
Eventually, they managed to regain their breath and composure, standing up from the laughter-filled heap. Esme's eyes widened as the delightful aroma of freshly baked cookies reached her senses, and with a burst of anticipation, she sprinted towards the kitchen, enthusiastically chanting, "Cookies!"
Lena's laughter accompanied her as she watched Esme's infectious excitement. Meanwhile, Kara hurriedly followed Esme into the kitchen. Lena warmly greeted Alex and Kelly, enveloping them in affectionate hugs and taking their coats.
Alex teasingly remarked, "You guys spoil her."
Lena grinned, "That's our job."
They entered the kitchen to the sight of Kara kneeling in front of Esme, breaking a cookie in half and offering one piece to the delighted little girl, and placing a piece in her own mouth. Kara's eyes sparkled with joy, her radiance captivating Lena in that very moment. It was a glimpse of perfection, a snapshot of happiness that Lena wished she could freeze in time. The soft glow of the kitchen lights danced in Kara's eyes, and Lena couldn't help but get lost in them.
In that moment, Lena's gaze lingered on Kara, captivated by her warmth and the way she effortlessly embraced the role of nurturing aunt. It was in these simple acts of love that Lena's heart expanded with a longing for a forever with Kara.
As Kara's eyes met Lena's, a knowing smile graced her lips.
--
As the evening drew to a close, Lena and Kara found themselves in the cozy confines of their kitchen, the remnants of a delightful evening with Alex, Kelly, and Esme still lingering in the air. Lena stood by the sink, her hands submerged in warm, soapy water, washing the dishes with a contented smile. Kara, her ever-enthusiastic self, stood by her side, ready to assist by drying and putting away the dishes.
Lena glanced at Kara, her heart swelling with affection as she handed over another plate for her to dry and put away. "You know, I really enjoyed tonight," Lena murmured softly, her voice carrying a tinge of happiness.
Kara beamed, reaching out to take the dish from Lena's hands.
As they focused on the domestic task at hand, their conversation shifted towards their plans for the upcoming day.
"So, Super Reporter, what exciting adventures await you tomorrow?" she asked, her eyes sparkling with curiosity. Kara had been making waves with her articles recently, and Lena couldn't be prouder.
Kara's eyes sparkled with excitement as she spoke. "I have an exclusive interview with the CEO of ZinTech for their new tech unveiling. He never speaks to anyone!"
Lena's lips curled into a proud smile as she admired Kara's passion. "Well, you're not just anyone, are you?"
Kara blushed adorably, and immediately turned her attention to Lena. "And what about you, my brilliant CEO? Any big plans for tomorrow?"
Lena's expression softened, her gaze locking with Kara's. "I have a crucial meeting with the board of a company I hope to acquire. I need to convince them that our visions align. It's a bit nerve-wracking."
Lena had been stressed. This board was notoriously difficult to deal with, and the company was in demand. So they were being extra picky, knowing that they had every option available. Lena had to present herself as the best option.
Kara reached out, her hand gently caressing Lena's cheek. "Lena, you'll do amazing. They'll be lucky to have you. And besides, who could resist Lena Luthor?"
Lena couldn't help but feel a surge of warmth in her chest. Kara had an uncanny ability to make her feel like she could conquer the world. She leaned into the touch, reveling in Kara's affectionate reassurance. Before she knew it, Kara leaned in and pressed a tender kiss against Lena's cheek, filling her with a sense of comfort.
"Thank you, Kara," Lena whispered, her voice tinged with adoration.
As Lena and Kara finished the last of the dishes, Lena turned to survey the kitchen. A sense of warmth and homeliness enveloped the space, replacing the once stark and empty atmosphere.Before Kara moved in, the kitchen had been a utilitarian area, devoid of personal touches. It had been a place where Lena stored her takeout containers in the fridge and occasionally paused for a glass of wine. But now, it was so much more.
Lena's eyes scanned the room, taking note of the subtle signs that marked their life together. A plant they both took turns watering stood in the corner, it's leaves vibrant and beautiful. On the shelves, colourful mugs that Kara liked to collect were lined up, each more ridiculous than the next. A cookie jar sat on the counter and Kara ensured that it was always stocked with Lena's favourites. Lena couldn't help but smile at that.
Kara's coat hung on the back of a chair, and Lena's heels were tucked under the table, exactly where they had left them on Friday night when they sat at this table to eat the pizza Kara had flown to Central City for.
Lena didn't even realise when her stark penthouse had turned into a home.
--
Lena climbed into bed, snuggling against the soft pillows, book in hand. Meanwhile, Kara moved around adjoining closet, carefully packing away her notebooks and laptop for the next day, fidgeting with her recorder.
The bedroom was filled with the soft glow of the bedside lamp, casting a warm ambiance that invited relaxation. Lena was immersed in her book, allowing herself to be transported to another world.
However, her blissful reading was interrupted by the sound of Kara's footsteps approaching the bedroom. Lena couldn't help but feel a mixture of amusement and anticipation. She knew all too well that Kara had a knack for playfully distracting her.
As Kara climbed into bed beside her, Lena pretended not to notice, determined to maintain her focus on the book. But Kara had other plans. With a mischievous smile dancing on her lips, she leaned in and planted a series of gentle kisses along Lena's neck and behind her ear.
Lena's breath hitched, a jolt of pleasure coursing through her veins. She fought to keep her attention on the words before her, but Kara's touch was a tantalizing distraction. Her fingertips traced a path of light feathery strokes along Lena's arms, her waist, and gradually ventured to her thighs.
Sensations swirled within Lena, her heart quickening its pace. The words on the pages became blurry, as Kara's playful exploration ignited a fierce desire within her. Lena could feel the intensity building, the craving for Kara's touch growing stronger with each passing moment.
Unable to resist any longer, Kara slowly pulled Lena's book away, her eyes darkening with a hunger that mirrored Lena's own longing. The room seemed to hum with a charged energy as their gazes locked.
In that exhilarating instant, Lena surrendered to the magnetic pull between them. With a surge of passion, she reached out and pulled Kara closer, their lips meeting in a fiery, passionate kiss. Their mouths melded together, igniting a blaze that consumed them both.
Kara's hands instinctively found their way to Lena's waist, pulling her in closer, intensifying the connection between them. The world around them faded into insignificance as they lost themselves in each other.

As Lena drifted off to sleep, her arms wrapped tightly around Kara, she couldn't help but utter a silent wish to spend every Sunday for the rest of her life like this- with Kara.
The End

Lena Luthor struggled to stifle an exhausted groan as yet another hour crept slowly by. This was not where she wanted to be right now. She’d promised Kara she’d be home in time for dinner, and yet here she was, forced to sit in a meeting with an insufferable group of egotistical men who thought they knew everything when in reality they were hardly worthy of her time.
Her chair seemed to grow more uncomfortable with each passing minute, and the conference room's cold, sterile atmosphere did little to soothe her growing discomfort. Subtle aches had begun to creep into her joints, and she felt herself shift uncomfortably, trying to suppress the shivers which run up her arms. A persistent sniffle and a raspy cough betrayed the merciless cold she’d been trying so desperately hard to ignore.
Lena clenched her jaw, her already frail patience wearing thinner as she tried to distract herself from the now-arguing men. Nobody could seem to argue on what to do with an upcoming project and being the only woman in the room, her views weren’t being taken seriously despite her obvious experience and seniority.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the meeting concluded with a tentative plan in place. She wasted no time in gathering her belongings and making her exit from the conference room. The men's constant condescending glances and dismissive attitudes had severely grated on her last nerve.
With an exhausted sigh, she glanced at her phone and saw it was nearly half an hour past the time she’d promised Kara she’d be home by. Swallowing back the tightness in her throat that seemed to had grown gradually worse as time passed by, she hooked her purse over her shoulder and made her way out of the building.
The cold hit her almost immediately, her already exhausted body wracked by unpleasant shivers making her wish she hadn’t forgone her coat this morning. Knowing there was no point in dwelling on that bad decision now, she simply climbed into her car and turned on the heat before reaching for her seat belt.
Lena couldn’t help but out a frustrated groan when she felt her nose beginning to run, blindly she reached over for the small pack of tissues she’d purposely left in the passenger seat that morning. But when all she was greeted by was an empty packet, she accepted her fate and knew that her only other option was the sleeve of her blazer. With a crinkled brow -because yes, she knew this was disgusting, she briskly wiped her nose and purposefully avoided looking at her sleeve afterwards. Gross...
The closer she got to home; the more Lena could feel her discomfort growing. She was freezing, yet her skin was slick and damp with sweat. Her nose was running again despite it being completely blocked and there was a faint pounding at the forefront of her head telling her that a migraine was well and truly on its way.
She doesn’t want to cry, yet she felt her eyes burn with the familiar sensation anyway. Stubbornly ignoring the tickling sensation, the resolute tear had left in its wake, she pulled into her private parking space before turning off the car.
With a heavy sigh that quickly developed into a disgustingly wet cough, she grabbed her things before exiting her car and made her way towards the front door of their shared home. She was immediately greeted with the sight of Kara lounged lazily on the couch, phone in her hand and feet propped up on the coffee table.
“Hi baby,” she hears, but she couldn’t quite find it in her to return the sentiment as she dropped her things to the floor and kicked off her heels. Her chest was burning, her nose was dripping, and she was sweating so much - she felt absolutely repulsive.
“Why are you late?” Kara continued, Lena hearing her set her phone down before rising to her feet.
Lena rubbed at her temples as she finally allowed herself to break. “Because Kara, I have a company to run, now will you please stop talking!” She snaps, the tears in her eyes finally falling, “I'm apparently the only person in this whole fucking company who knows how to do their fucking job!”
“Woah! I just asked if you were okay- I didn't-“ Kara began to stutter, utterly gobsmacked at her outburst. Never once had Lena ever snapped at her or sworn like that before.
“Just stop!” Lena was beyond exhausted, and her tone came out hissed and aggressive. It hadn’t meant to be that way, not at all, but everything just seemed to catch up to her all at once, leading the sniffling CEO to drop to her knees and sob.
Kara's concern immediately replaced any annoyance she might have felt at Lena's outburst. She rushed over to Lena, kneeling beside her and wrapping her arms around her shaking form, “You’re okay, you’re okay baby I promise.” She soothed in a hushed whisper, slowly rocking back and forth as she tried to calm down her girlfriend.
Lena's sobs continued to wrack her fragile frame as Kara held her close, her own heart aching at the sight of her girlfriend in such distress. Lena's outburst had caught her off guard, but she knew that when someone bottled up their feelings (as Lena tended to do) they always find a way to break the seal and burst out. This wasn’t her fault.
Lena's sobs gradually subsided into soft hiccups as Kara held her close, offering comfort and warmth. Her shoulders trembled as she sniffled weakly, and her eyes were now red and sore from crying.
As they sat there, Lena body suddenly shivered with a sneeze that caught her by surprise. She desperately tried to turn away from Kara, but it was too late. Lena's eyes widened in horror as she realised what had just happened.
"I- I didnt mean too- I-," Lena began to cry again as her voice caught in her throat, sending her into a deep spluttering cough.
She expected her girlfriend to pull away, to grimace, gag and look at her in disgust. But she didn’t. Kara didn’t even flinch, instead she kept a hold of her, running a gentle arm around her waist, pulling Lena in closer again, continuing to slowly rock back and forth, an action which steadily calmed the fever fuelled distress coursing through her body.
“Alright my love, let’s get you out of these damp clothes, okay? And then we’ll get you some medicine.” Kara murmured after a few moments, pulling Lena slightly away from her so she could tenderly cup her cheeks to rid them of tears. As gross as it was, she even uses the sleeve of her own shirt to gently wipe the mess gathered above her cupid's brow before placing a soft kiss to the spot just between her eyebrows.
Lena couldn’t even find it in her to be grossed out by her girlfriends' actions, tired eyes drooping in pure exhaustion. She did no more than nod her head as she leant into Kara’s touch, allowing the gentle ministrations to momentarily sooth her.
Without a word, Kara rose to her feet bringing Lena with her, looping her arms beneath her backside before taking slow, careful steps towards their bedroom. She could feel that Lena was a complete dead weight in her arms, and she silently thanked her super strength that was easily supporting her before she carefully placed Lena down onto the small amount of counter space between their sinks.
Taking residence in the space between her parted legs to keep her unsteady body upright, Kara reached over for the tissues they kept on the small bathroom shelf and pulled two out of the box. Lena doesn’t make a peep as she was prompted to blow her nose, and Kara knew then and there, as she flushed the soiled tissue and washes her hands that her girlfriend was well and truly sick.
Lena was extremely stubborn and had been since they had first started dating, and no amount of persuasion from Kara had ever convinced her it was okay to let her be vulnerable.
With a concerned frown, she reached up for the buttons of the blazer and makes quick work of unbuttoning them.
“Sit up for a second baby.” She prompted, and Lena sniffles quietly as she complies and allowed her suit jacket to be pulled off. Her shirt beneath was saturated with sweat, and she feels herself wanting to sob all over again when she realises just how disgusting she must look.
“No no, none of that.” Kara’s voice brings her out of her thoughts as she untucked said shirt out of her slacks and begins unbuttoning it, Lena met her gaze with a guilty look, eyes damp once again shiny with tears that were threatening to fall.
Kara smiled knowingly as she finally as she undid the last button and helped guide Lena’s arms out of it, before tossing it into the laundry basket along with the blazer.
“I’m so disgusting right now.” Came the small almost inaudible whisper.
“I could never, ever find you disgusting,” Kara momentarily paused amidst her task of helping Lena undress and instead reached forward to cup her cheeks. She tenderly trailed the pads of her thumbs over her girlfriend’s warm, flushed skin, her heart melting when Lena instinctively seemed to lean into her touch. “You’re beautiful. Sick, or not, and don’t let me hear you say otherwise.”
“Can I?” Kara rubbed Lena’s knee and pulled on the slick fabric, asking for her permission, to which the Luthor nodded weakly, and Kara slowly unbutton her pants before gently pulling them off. An action which revealing damp, clammy skin beneath a sharp contrast to way Lena was currently shivering, a clear sign of her fever.
“Let me check that temperature of yours darling.” Kara murmured as she moved to the small cabinet above the sink, retrieving a digital thermometer. She turned it on and waited for it to beep, indicating it was ready to use. With care, she moved closer to Lena, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear before gently inserting the thermometer into Lena's mouth.
"Keep it under your tongue, love," Kara instructed softly as Lena complied, “Sorry, I should really upgrade and get one of those new ear ones, but this’ll have to do for now.”
The pair sat in silence for a minute or so, Kara watching the digital display anxiously as if her gaze would speed the device up somehow. When the thermometer beeped again, she was quick to remove it and read the temperature.
“Oh baby.” There was a noticeable shift in Kara’s tone as sympathy smothered her words, “We need to bring this down a little sweetheart, I really don’t like how warm you are right now.”
“Here, this might help," Kara whispered, her fingers brushing Lena's cheek with a delicate touch before she reached over to take the washcloth sitting on the counter. She ran it under the cold water to cool it down before gently wiping Lena's forehead, the coolness offering a momentary relief from the feverish heat.
“Kara, you don’t have to do this.” Lena mumbled, her words a little slurred - whether from her fever or just plain exhaustion was up to anyone's guess.
Kara simply shook her head at the self-deprecating attitude of her girlfriend as she moves the washcloth down to feverish cheeks.
“You’re right, I don’t.” She agreed as she takes Lena’s hand and gives it a soft squeeze, “but I want to, because I love you and I know you would do the same for me.” She knowingly adds, and Lena smiles slightly, just a soft quirk of her lips, proving Kara’s words to be correct.
“Now, let’s get you some medicine,” Kara stated as she reclaimed her prior space between Lena’s now bare legs, giving one a loving squeeze as she pulled open the medicine cabinet door.  “Tylenol for that fever and cold medicine for your congestion.”
Lena tried not to complain. Really. She did. But the thought of taking that putrid cold medicine had her wanting cry and before she knew it, her eyes once again burn with welled up tears.
“Shh, I know,” Kara lovingly murmured as she fills the small cup with the allotted dose, “But it’ll help baby. You know that, yeah?” She offers it out, and whilst a tear does fall down still flushed cheeks, Lena allowed her to bring the cup to her lips.
She swallowed with a small grimace and was quickly rewarded by a gentle peck to her nose. The Tylenol follows the same pattern, she gulped the water handed to her, the cold-water doing wonders on her aching throat.
“Alright baby. Ready to head to bed?” Kara asked after slipping both medicines into her sweatpants pockets, placing her hands beneath Lena’s underarms in preparation to lift her should it be wanted.
Lena sniffled wetly as she nodded her head, allowing Kara to lift her up into her arms just like she her earlier. With a fond smile, Kara placed a kiss to the sick woman’s shoulder before making her way into the bedroom and easing Lena down onto the end of the perfectly made bed.
After a quick change of her underwear -bra excluded, Kara slipped a pyjama shirt over her head and coaxed her arms into the sleeves.
“Pants, or no?” Kara asked as she reaches up to brush a damp strand of hair behind Lena’s ear, laughing softly when Lena immediately shakes her head with a disgruntled frown. “Okay baby, into bed you go.” She once again slips her hands under Lena’s arms and easily hoists her tired frame up the bed until her head meets the pillow.
Lena leant back and nestled against the soft pillows, her overworked body feeling heavy and exhausted as Kara tucked her in gently, pulling the covers softly around her, making sure she was snug and warm beneath them.
"Thank you, baby," Lena whispered quietly, her strained voice evident as her tired eyes looked up at Kara apologetically. “I’m really sorry I snapped at you earlier. You were just trying to help, and you really didn’t deserve that.”
Kara's expression softened as she sat down on the edge of the bed, leaning in to press a gentle kiss to Lena's forehead. "Love, I promise you it's okay," Kara replied, her fingers gently brushing through her hair. "I know you’re not feeling very well right now. You had a really stressful day at work, we all have our moments. I'm not going to hold it against you, it’s already in the past and forgotten”
Lena offered a faint, grateful smile, her eyes heavy with fatigue as she nuzzled against the blonde’s touch, “You're too good to me Kara,” she murmured quietly, trying to hide a sleepy yawn beneath the blankets, “Always there to help.”
Kara's thumb brushed over Lena's cheek as she replies, "Well, that's what girlfriends are for, right? Taking care of each other." She pauses for a moment, looking deep into Lena's eyes. "Listen, I'm going to take a sick day tomorrow. I don’t want to leave you alone by yourself. We can stay in and just have a day in bed.”
Lena's eyes widen with surprise and gratitude. "You don't have to do that, Kara. Your work-"
Kara interrupts her with a tender smile. "You’re more important than any work could possibly ever be." She leant in to place a lingering kiss on Lena's lips, conveying all her love she ever needed in that one small, simple gesture.
Lena's heart warmed a little at her words, "Thank you," she whispered again, letting her eyes slowly fall closed as the pull of sleep gently began to tug at her
Kara eases herself under the covers beside Lena, wrapping her arms around her and pulling her close. "You don’t have to thank me sweetheart," she murmured, her lips brushing against Lena's temple. "Sleep now love, I'll be right here when you wake up."

tagged by @sideguitars Thank you for the tag!
1. What sort of content do you create, and what is the thing you’ve made that you’re most proud of?
I guess I've mostly focused on offramps from canon and expanding the scope of the world that I'm playing around in
2. What fandom(s) do you create for?
Supergirl for the most part but I have a few other fandoms I'm dabbling in: Warrior Nun, MCU and Killing Eve
3. What is your current favourite ship (or brotp if you prefer), and how controversial is it?
Supercorp. I guess it's more controversial than I ever realized? I've somehow been able to avoid or outright not see any of the discourse online which is probably for the best.
4. For your answer to question 3, are they canon?
No but what is canon?
5. What was your first fandom, and how old were you?
I would say either Xena or The X-Files. I think I'd have to give the win to the X-Files because I was much more certain that I would be abducted by aliens
6. What is your most unhinged fandom creation to date?
Unhinged... Probably the MCU/Supergirl crossover I'm writing now. Lena gets yeeted to Earth-616. Not many days you get to see Matt Murdock and Kara Danvers having a conversation or Lena dancing with Peggy...
7. Do you remember what started you off creating fandom content, and if so, what was it?
Funnily enough, I was quite ignorant about the existence of fandom content. I've always liked writing so it was a very short hop to start making stories that I wanted to see inbetween the bad poetry and short stories.
8. Do you let people you know in real life see your fandom creations?
My gf reads my stuff but beyond that I'm quiet private when it comes to my fandom creations.
9. How do you feel about fanworks of fanworks? Has anyone ever made something based on a thing you made?
I feel like at its core that's what fandom is essentially. So to see these offshoots of someone's own work it's for the most part flattering. But I do see the other side of the coin where someone might feel protective of their work and find it difficult to give their blessing to it.
10. What feeling do you most often try to evoke with your creations?
I don't know if there would be a feeling above any of the others that I'm trying to evoke with my writing. I guess if I had to pick I might say I hope that it makes you cry. Angsty angsty tears
11. Has someone ever paid your work a compliment (in any form) that has stuck with you, and what was it?
I've been very blessed to have a handful of people create art for some of my fics and that's maybe the biggest compliment I could ever hope to get. To see it come to life in a different way is really magical. But I would say that every compliment has really meant so much to me.
12. What’s your favourite thing someone else has made that you’ve seen in the last 24 hours (and link it if you can find it again!)
I've been very blessed to get to see snippets from @sideguitars about fics they have in progress and those have all just been so deliciously angsty.
13. Give a small sneak preview of something you’re working on right now (eg a couple of sentences of fic from a WIP, a gif set theme, a small piece of a larger picture, whatever you feel happy to share)
I'll give a grab bag of things in various states of chaos
Snippet from my Lena learns magic from Johanna Constantine fic
“Where the fuck is it?” the woman asked. She advanced on Lena, looming over her. Not content to simply tower over Lena she leaned over her and seized her by the shoulders, hard as if she meant to shake her if she didn’t get a favorable answer. Whatever anger she might have felt at being spoken to in such a way or to have this stranger lay hands on her was nothing compared to the fear that still held her in place. It had robbed her of not only her strength but it had stolen whatever scathing remark she would have normally had at the ready in response to the woman’s question. “Where’s what?” Lena managed to ask in a voice that at least sounded mostly like her own.  “The grimoire or scroll or whatever magical thing you’ve decided to fuck around with that lured a demon here.” The woman examined Lena carefully, a flicker of dull recognition coming alight in her eyes. “Fuck me,” she grumbled. “You’re Lena Luthor, aren’t you? Yeah, it’s you. I’d recognize that jawline anywhere.” The woman ran her hand along her own face in what Lena had to assume was a mocking gesture. “Why is it you rich people always want to muck around with the occult? You can’t be that bloody bored.”
The Lucifer Crossover that I don't feel is good enough to share
"Yes, I remember," Lena said sourly. "When I asked the devil for a favor I was under the assumption that the eventual repayment would come much later and be far less annoying.” "As did I,” Lucifer said, making a hard right that sent a bolt of pain through Lena’s temple. “Usually when I call in favors they’re a lot more fun for me. I’m the devil, not some wish-granting fairy-godmother.” He appeared to shudder at the thought and focused his attention back on the road. “I can assure you that Linda is the best of the best. She’s been my therapist for years now…” “So,” Lena said slowly, rattling the pill caddy before tossing it back into his lap. “This is you after years of therapy?”
and a peek at the MCU/Supergirl crossover brain rot
“You got my message,” Lena said, relieved to have an excuse to put her pen down. “I got your message,” Lillian said. “I also saw the news.” A flicker of annoyance passed over her face and Lena instinctively braced herself for whatever venom would come spilling out of her mouth. “Why?” she asked. She tilted her head at an insouciant angle as if trying to suss out Lena’s reasoning before she could answer. “I didn’t think people would sleep very well at night if they learned that out of nowhere that the sky ripped open and aliens from another Earth destroyed half the city.”
14. Have you ever seen/read anything made by the person who tagged you? If so, what was it and what was your favourite thing about it? (pick a favourite if there are several)
I really really love(d) Aftermath I just love how you brought Andrea into the fold (and called out that stupid nickname they gave her in the show)
15. Do you leave comments on fandom works, and if so how would you describe your comment style?
I'm getting a lot better at it, just as I stopped reading so many fics. I like to pick out certain passages that really resonated with me or just thought were really well-written and tell the author why.
16. How many works in progress do you currently have? Will you finish them all?
I have about 15 WIP's that I really want to finish and a handful more that I'm more iffy on. The plan is to finish them all but if I'll ever actually do it... I hope so though.
17. what’s the longest it’s ever taken you to finish a fandom project?
I'm too embarrassed to look at the last time I updated rich girl. Years. Or Year. Anyway, too fucking long. But I'm just about done. Sorry. Life was kind of kicking my ass majorly for a while.
18. Describe the thing you made most recently in a way that is technically true, but also completely misleading. Link the thing if it’s published!
Define recently. All I See is You Lena's magic derails game night
19. Do you ever engage with fanworks for a fandom you’re not in? Which one(s) and how did you get into it?
I'm quite lucky to get a wide variety of fanart that crosses my dash so I'll engage to the point of gushing about it in the tags.
20. Recommend a fan work from your fandom to your followers
This very recent fic, To Want and to Have and to Hold that's caught my full attention by @eqt-95 Really can't say enough nice things about it and am eagerly awaiting an update
Suggested tag list, but there are no rules here, follow your heart.
I hate tagging people. i feel like I'm bothering them but I will poke @rustingcat since I always want to hear more about what they're working on

Supercorptober 2022 Day 16: Sparks
A follow up to Peace was requested by a lot of people so here it is, the scene where supercorp kiss after Kara thinks they've been dating for a month while Lena thinks they're just friends.
ao3 fic link. series link.
“Come on, Lena. Please, for me?”
“No,” Lena laughs, resisting the tug of Kara’s hand and the puppy dog eyes sent her way. “What are you doing?”
“Come on,” Kara grins, and Lena gives in, letting herself be pulled up.
Kara doesn’t drop her hand, but instead grabs Lena’s other one and then they’re dancing, or at least Kara is, Lena just letting herself be jostled by Kara’s moving arms.
Except she’s terrible at dancing, and she does mean herself, not Kara. Kara has rhythm as she sways her hips, rhythm as she bounces on her feet, coaxing Lena into joining her.
“See, this is fun, isn’t it?” Kara grins, and Lena must admit it is, only because Kara looks so happy and carefree and Lena hasn’t felt this relaxed in a while.
She’s also not going to complain about Kara’s hands in hers, or the way they keep stumbling into each other, the warm press of Kara’s body there a moment, then gone the next.
Kara spins her out and then pulls her back in again and this is even better. Next time Kara wants to dance, despite the fact that Lena probably looks ridiculous as she tries to stay in time with the music, she’s definitely going to say yes.
Kara’s suddenly a lot closer and Lena’s breath catches. It’s unfair how good her best friend looks right now, even just in grey sweat pants and a white t-shirt, she looks amazing. It helps that the shirt is slightly too tight and Kara’s arms are on full display.
Lena’s eyes dart down, just for a moment, because she’s weak and happy and Kara’s lips look so soft.
She allows herself just that, and then she’s giggling again as Kara twirls her and if this is what she gets with Kara, if this is what her life with Kara will be, having fun with her best friend on a normal Thursday evening, then Lena will take it.
But then suddenly it’s not just a normal Thursday evening, because the next time Kara pulls her close, she stops, and that parts not out of the ordinary, she’s used to Kara staring at her from time to time, but this is different, because instead of looking away like she usually would, Kara leans forward and kisses her.
The touch is electric, that’s how Lena would describe it. It’s a shock to her system, a jolt, a total surprise that has Lena wanting more.
There’s that cliché in movies where they say sparks fly? That’s exactly what this feels like.
This is what Lena always imagined a kiss from Kara would feel like.
“You looked surprised,” is the first thing Kara says when she pulls away. “Sorry, I should’ve asked, it’s just that we’ve been dating for nearly a month and I saw you looking at my lips and I thought you wanted to too. Gosh, I didn’t even ask, do you like kissing? Do you want to kiss people? Is that something you like to do in a relationship?”
Lena is so confused about so many things right now.
“I definitely like kissing, and I want to kiss you, specifically, but we’re dating?”
Kara pauses, frowns. “Aren’t we?”
 “What made you think we’re dating?”
“I…everything?”
“Everything?”
“We’ve been out on multiple dates. The first one was when I asked you to have dinner with me at the Italian place, remember?”
How could Lena forget that night, she’d spent the whole time dying because Kara had brought her flowers and looked incredible in a suit and then insisted on paying for dinner and all Lena could think about was how she’d wanted it to be a date.
But was it actually a date??
“We spend all out free time together, we sleep together most nights. I mean, I literally called you my girlfriend the other day and you said nothing.” Kara bites her lip, looking distressed. “Was I wrong?”
“I…didn’t you just mean like a friend who is a girl?”
Kara looks close to tears now, and Lena realises she’s said the wrong thing.
“Come here,” Lena says, but she doesn’t wait for Kara to respond, just reaches out and pulls her into a hug. Kara is frozen for a moment, but then she easily relaxes into Lena’s arms. It allows Lena a moment to think, to run her mind over everything Kara has just said, and realise what an absolute idiot she’s been.
It’s a long time before they pull apart, and Lena can see an apology on Kara’s lips, but Lena talks before she can.
“I didn’t realise that you’d asked me out on a date, I didn’t realise that that’s something you wanted, all this time I thought your feelings for me were strictly platonic. I think I missed it because I never imagined you might feel the same for me in return.” Kara opens her mouth but Lena holds up her hand. “Let me finish, please?”
Kara nods so Lena continues. “I want to make it clear right now, that I like you, that I very much want to kiss you, and if I’d realised sooner that we were dating, I would’ve definitely kissed you already.” Lena reaches out, tucks a loose strand of hair behind Kara’s ear, feels entirely giddy when Kara leans into the touch. “I’m sorry I missed it, it seems so obvious now.”
“For the record,” Kara smiles. “If it wasn’t obvious, I like you too.”
“I think we’ve established that sometimes I need things to be spelled out to me.”
Kara’s grinning now, and so is Lena. And while she feels a little dumb, she feels a lot happy.
“In that case, I very much want to kiss you again,” Kara says.
Just hearing Kara says those words, makes Lena want to cry. A lot about this evening makes Lena want to cry.
Lena’s the one that leans forward this time, her mouth pressing gently against Kara’s.
And then Kara’s mouth parts beneath hers and Lena knows she’s not going to stop kissing her anytime soon.

Fandom creators tag game
1. What sort of content do you create, and what is the thing you’ve made that you’re most proud of?
I write stories. Usually original science fiction, but in the past two years, I've branched into fanfiction. I also create art and music.
I'm damn proud of my rewrite of Book 2 of Legend of Korra in my Shared Moments series.
I wish I could find a publisher for my original fiction; then I could share what I'm most proud of but alas. The publishing market is incredibly hard to get into and I don't have the health to self-publish, so we'll go with the Korrasami tales for now. For art, I'm damn proud of this piece I did of Lena.
2. What fandom(s) do you create for?
Korrasami from Legend of Korra.
Supercorp from CW's Supergirl
Rojarias from CW's Supergirl.
3. What is your current favourite ship (or brotp if you prefer), and how controversial is it?
Korrasami. Not controversial much at all. (As a side note, Supercorp feels like an angstier Korrasami. Might be why I like that ship equally well. Supercorp doesn't seem controversial?)
4. For your answer to question 3, are they canon?
Yes, Korrasami is canon. (Supercorp isn't necessarily canon, but there's so much evidence of it in the show that it might as well be.)
5. What was your first fandom, and how old were you?
First fandom I created something for? Or first fandom where I dived into and read everything I could? Because if it's read everything I could, then it's Star Wars before Disney threw out the old Canon (still salty about that). I'd have been pretty young -- still a kid when I was devouring all the Star Wars books. I didn't have any favorite ship though while I did this.
For something I created, Korrasami was the first one I wanted to create art and writing for to be honest. That was three years ago when I started writing Korrasami.
6. What is your most unhinged fandom creation to date?
Oh, that's a Supercorp one. I was inspired by a weird camera glitch, and wrote an unhinged horror set after season 6. The first part of it is in tumblr. I have yet to publish to AO3 mostly because I want to finish more of it before I do. Sort of loosely based on Lovecraft's Color out of Space.
7. Do you remember what started you off creating fandom content, and if so, what was it?
Three years ago I first started drawing and writing Korrasami. Then I branched out into Supercorp.
8. Do you let people you know in real life see your fandom creations?
Only my trusted friends and siblings.
9. How do you feel about fanworks of fanworks? Has anyone ever made something based on a thing you made?
If anyone did, they have never shared it with me. I would love to see it, and I'd treasure it always!
Though if I'm being honest. I doubt I'll ever get fanworks. Why would anyone go to that much trouble for something I wrote? I doubt anything I write is worth that much.
10. What feeling do you most often try to evoke with your creations?
I want to show possible healing journeys that aren't the most painful angstfest known to humanity. I want people to feel the journey too, to capture the world within the character's senses so that their tale feels real.
Whether I achieve this, I have no idea. Some people have written very kind comments stating that I have, and I am delighted by those comments.
11. Has someone ever paid your work a compliment (in any form) that has stuck with you, and what was it?
Two people have said I made a place feel alive through the storytelling and worldbuilding I did. That compliment haunts me in all the best ways, and I have done my best to try to keep that tradition going.
12. What’s your favourite thing someone else has made that you’ve seen in the last 24 hours (and link it if you can find it again!)
It was a Supercorp art piece, but after searching, I can't seem to find it again. It was Lena leaning backwards into Kara's arms, while Kara gently holds her. Colored piece, digitally drawn I think. They look almost like they were swaying back and forth.
13. Give a small sneak preview of something you’re working on right now (eg a couple of sentences of fic from a WIP, a gif set theme, a small piece of a larger picture, whatever you feel happy to share)
Korrasami:
Korra looked at their entangled hands. “Yeah, yeah, it’s just some stitching.”
“And yet, that ‘some stitching’ made something wonderful.” Asami was determined to remind Korra of what she could do. It’d been her mantra for the past six months. She wanted Korra to regain her confidence, but it'd been difficult. Thanks to Asami's foolishness they'd both backslid.
Korra had called it Asami’s paranoia.
Maybe they were both right.
Supercorp:
Lena rises before dawn, prepares her corporate armor, and heads to her full-time job as CEO of L-Corp. Today’s agenda includes four meetings, one of them with the board, an hour of lab time, a brief lunch, and a visit to Florence in late afternoon.
It’s the visit with Florence that troubles her the most. The exposure to the strange artifact gave her unsettling dreams, and she woke in a cold sweat after a particularly gruesome one. In that one, she’d had no control over her body, only watched in horror as another person used her abilities to harm all she loved.
Kara had woken too, and her gentle reassurances had helped Lena fall back asleep, this time with no dreams.
Diving into work to escape the nightmares is how she copes. Perhaps not the healthiest, but undoing all her bad coping mechanisms will take far longer than just admitting they exist.
Rojarias:
Tomorrow morning? Sam reeled from the news. That gave her very little time to pack and prepare Ruby for Sam being gone a week or two.
Yet here she was again, unable to say no. Especially not when two beautiful women were looking at her expectantly.
Damn, Sam was too gay for this. “All right. Tomorrow it is.”
14. Have you ever seen/read anything made by the person who tagged you? If so, what was it and what was your favourite thing about it? (pick a favourite if there are several)
Yes, I have. I'm not entirely sure what exactly they published on AO3 however. I found the tiny Kara piece absolutely hilarious.
15. Do you leave comments on fandom works, and if so how would you describe your comment style?
I do leave comments, yes. I share my enjoyment of the piece, sections that really stood out to me, and/or an overall feeling I got from the piece. I'm trying to be more consistent about it since I know how much comments mean to me as a writer, and I know other writers enjoy them too!
16. How many works in progress do you currently have? Will you finish them all?
Original fiction: (on hiatus but I do plan on finishing) 3
Korrasami: 2 (plan on finishing them, yes).
Supercorp: 3 (yes, plan on finishing them.)
Rojarias: 1 (yes, I need to get on this as it's due next month actually).
Art for Supercorp: 1 (I also need to work on finishing this before the due date next month. I got the rough sketch and need to run it by the author to make sure it's what they want, before I go to town inking it).
17. what’s the longest it’s ever taken you to finish a fandom project?
Shared Moments: Books 1 through 3 (the finished ones) took me a year. A million words no less. Whew. I'm working on Book 3.5 now. I tend toward longer works, which takes a few months to complete.
My shorter fiction (the ficlets) take less than an hour usually.
For art, it takes me one to three weeks.
18. Describe the thing you made most recently in a way that is technically true, but also completely misleading. Link the thing if it’s published!
These paralleled kisses shake their world. (A chapter for Unraveling Realities)
19. Do you ever engage with fanworks for a fandom you’re not in? Which one(s) and how did you get into it?
I'm not really sure what counts as being "in" a fandom or not. If I enjoy something, I'll engage with it, but does the engagement mean I'm "in" the fandom now? Or do I have to create something and talk with others in the fandom to be considered "in?" How does this work?
20. Recommend a fan work from your fandom to your followers
I absolutely adore Make this your home by pcrtifacts so much I even made fanart for it. It's not finished, but it's regularly updated and so, so good.
Suggested tag list, but there are no rules here, follow your heart.
A mutual you have never actually spoken to but think seems cool -- All my mutuals are really cool! And I'd love to read more of their stuff. Thanks all of you for sharing your stuff!!
The most recent person whose content you engaged with (eg read a fic, reblogged art, whatever form you feel best fits) -- I'm not sure? Maybe the person I reblogged this from?
Someone whose content you saw via tags/reblogs and you followed them because of it @luthordamnvers (I honestly love the indepth knowledge of the show nic has, how willing to share that knowledge, nic's kindness, the fics they write. Honestly, all around wonderful person.)
Someone in your fandom that you think makes cool things @ekingston (Shape of Soup being my favorite plus the art is amazing.)
Someone in a different fandom that you think makes cool things (this is hard. I really only seem to follow or find Korrasami, Supercorp, and on rarer occasions Rojarias or Dansen. There's some Star Wars folks that do fun things, but I can't remember their usernames tho.)
Someone you always tag on things like this @nottawriter
Someone you have never tagged before (I can't remember who I tagged before, so I guess whoever wants to play this game?)
Someone you would like to get to know better @pcrtifacts (love, love their make this place your home fic. And chatting in comments with pcrtifacts has been lovely.)
Someone who makes art you like -- @snazzy-korra (honestly, she's an all around amazing person, and Iove all her art and chatting with her. So grateful for our chats too.)
Someone who writes fics you like: @fazedlight (I seriously love everything mel writes. It's all so damn good. I even wrote a fanfic continuation of a piece I really liked of mel's ficlets. First and only time I've ever done that.)
I suspect some of these people have been tagged multiple times. My apologies if so. But I did want y'all to know how you're appreciated and how much I enjoy your content too. :)

Vengeance, Victory, and Undying Love - pt 7
Chapter 7 of my Supercorp fic in which Lena still creates something called Non Nocere to deal with her broken heart after finding out Supergirl's identity, but this time she gives the name to a different project. A more personal one. And now she’s coming for Supergirl.
This and previous chapters also available to read on Ao3
................
Kara dropped the lump of kryptonite and leapt backwards, bracing for the wave of agony and nausea she knew would follow.
A beat passed.
Her breath continued to move easily in and out of her lungs. Her blood pumped painlessly, the usual acidic burn of kryptonite in her system entirely absent.
So… it… wasn’t kryptonite?
She dared to take a tentative half step closer and peered down at the thing Lena had given her. It certainly looked like kryptonite – the all-too-familiar sickly green glow making the hairs on her arms rise in anticipation of pain, but that’s where the similarity ended.
The pain never came.
She glanced from the lump of rock to Lena and back again, waiting for her to make it make sense.
‘Lena? What is it?’
‘Pick it up, have a closer look’.
She did so, a little tentatively. Even in the face of her undeniable lack of pain, her fingers flinched away from touching it, but she forced them to wrap around the stone and lift it anyway.
It felt warm, like a pebble that had been sitting out in the sun all day, but it didn’t burn her. The sensation would have been quite pleasant if not for the nagging, instinctive fear of touching the one thing on this Earth that she knew could kill her.
She tried rising a discrete inch above the ground, just to check that this wasn’t some new more subtle variation of kryptonite that caused powerlessness without the pain. But nope, she rose smoothly. When she focused in on her super hearing she found it undiminished. There was a cat purring three floors down. Someone blowing bubblegum and allowing the bubble to burst with a snap a couple of blocks away. Lena’s heartbeat, drumming a little too rapidly for her outward calm.
‘Okay, I don’t get it. Why would you make fake kryptonite? What’s the point?’
‘I didn’t. The kryptonite is real Kara, I’ve just made you immune to it. Non Nocere. It means no harm. No harm to you. You could swallow that piece if you wanted and it wouldn’t hurt you. I wouldn’t recommend it as it’s not exactly pill sized, but you could’.
‘Oh...’
Kara’s eyes filled with tears and she choked down a sob as she took in the truth of what Lena had injected her with. How was this even possible? She had never imagined anyone, even her bright, brilliant science genius friend, could do something like this.
‘Lena I- I don’t know how to thank you. This is amazing, it’s the most incredible gift. But… why would you do this? I know how you feel about me’.
Lena laughed, half bitter, half disbelieving amusement.
‘No you don’t. You clearly have no idea how I feel about you, or you never could have done what you did to me. Kara, you have hurt me more than anyone in my life, and coming from my family that’s really saying something. But I’m not a machine, I can’t just switch off caring whether you live or die, no matter how much I might want to. Not now I know that it’s you in that cape, risking your life every other day and completely, stupidly helpless against a shiny green rock that turns up all too often for something from another planet. So, I fixed it. Kryptonite can’t hurt you anymore, so now you won’t get hurt. And that means I never have to spare a moment’s thought for you again. Do you see now? This means I’m over you’.
There was a hint of desperation in Lena’s voice, gilding the edges of what she clearly thought was a reasonable, rational explanation for what she’d just done for her.
‘Wait… what do you mean, you’re over me? When were you… under me?’
Oh god, had she really just said that?
She must have done, because Lena’s cheeks had gone as pink as hers felt and they stood there in silence for a moment, sharing a look of agonised helplessness that felt almost like they had slipped into an alternate time line where all the hurt between them had never existed, and instead this was the moment when…
Without realising she was doing it, Kara stepped closer to Lena, her eyes flicking to her mouth of their own accord.
‘Lena, I…’
Lena had cured Kara of her physical vulnerability. It was only fair that Kara gave her a gift in kind and confessed her emotional kryptonite, for Lena to do with what she would.
Her teeth raked her lower lip and she swallowed against the sudden dryness in her throat. Heart thumping she took a breath in readiness to admit her deepest, still unspoken truth and give Lena the opportunity, if she wanted, to make Kara truly feel the depths of her pain. She just had to hope that they weren’t so very far beyond saving that she was about to have her heart crushed all over again.
‘I-’
Lena broke the eye contact that had been drawing Kara inexorably closer, and the walls that divided them slammed back into place.
The moment snapped like a dry twig.
‘Well, that’s all I came for. You can keep the kryptonite if you like. Consider it a parting gift. Goodbye, Kara’.
With that, Lena turned and swept out of the apartment.
Go after her!
But Kara couldn’t. She stayed fixed to the spot, lips parted around the confession she hadn’t managed to make, kryptonite still cupped in her outstretched palm like an offering.
Had that really just happened? Had all that business in the lab really been about this? Curing Kara’s one great weakness, and framing it as revenge?
Tears flooded down her cheeks.
Oh Lena.
Of course she hadn’t really believed that Lena would try to kill her, but she had never for a moment imagined this either. Her very best case scenario had been that Lena had injected her with something inert, just to make her feel the shock and betrayal of being hurt by someone you should be able to trust completely.
But this?
It was too much to take in by herself. She didn’t care what time it was, she needed Alex.
With the kryptonite still clutched in her fist, Kara leapt skyward and went to find her sister.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
‘ARE YOU KIDDING ME?’
It was the fourth time Alex had said this since Kara had shaken her awake at 1am to talk through what had just happened.
The first was a sleepy grumble at being disturbed on what was supposed to be one of the few nights when she wasn’t on call at the DEO.
The second an incredulous murmur when Kara recounted her conversation with Lena.
The third followed almost immediately when, to prove that no, she really wasn’t kidding, Kara had held up the chunk of kryptonite to show her.
Alex had slapped it right out of her hand and called her a moron for touching it with her bare skin all this time, because what if it was some sort of trick? What if Lena had just found a way to add a protective coating that would wear away over time and poison her once her defences were down? Did she even consider that possibility??
And Kara had to admit that she hadn’t. Ever since Lena had told her, she hadn’t doubted the truth of her words for a moment, and she still didn’t.
Now they were at the DEO, and Alex had just finished testing both the kryptonite and Kara to confirm the veracity of Lena’s claim.
And… it was true. The kryptonite was real, and Kara was immune to it.
‘I can’t believe it. She really did cure you! It’s incredible. It’s- it’s- but then what the hell was all that about? The ominous hints, injecting you by force when you were practically unconscious, letting us lock her up and interrogate her? Wouldn’t it have been easier to just tell you up front what she was making and hand it over to you like a rational human being? Why all the fake villain business? Don’t get me wrong, I am grateful to her for making it, but this is just... ridiculous’.
‘No, I get it. If Lena had just given me the cure it would have looked like she was doing it for me. It would have been about our friendship and she doesn’t want that anymore – she didn’t want me to be grateful, so she delivered it in the worst way she could think of. This way she could make me feel the betrayal she felt when she found out I lied to her, and make it clear that although she was helping me, it was her way of ending things, not her letting me back in. I get why she did all that... What I don’t so much understand is why she would make the cure in the first place when she hates me so much’.
Alex dropped her head into her hands and groaned.
‘Kara, you know I love you but you can be the most annoying, oblivious person in the world sometimes. Are you and Lena ever going to just be normal about each other? Please? So I can get some sleep?’
‘Hey! I’m not oblivious, I’m a reporter! Noticing things is my whole thing!
...Why, what do you think is going on?’
‘I think that going to a huge amount of effort and, I assume, expense, to make someone invulnerable just so you don’t have to worry about their safety anymore is not how you express hatred’.
‘So... do you think she made it before she found out, then decided not to let it go to waste? But that doesn’t make sense. Lena and I clashed all the time when I was Supergirl, it’s part of why I never told her the truth, so I don’t see why she would have wanted to do that for her’.
‘… No Kara. That’s not what I think happened’.
‘Well then, what-?’
‘NOPE. I’m done. You’re going to have to figure this one out for yourself dingus. I’m going back to bed. DO NOT WAKE ME unless someone is dying. Goodnight’.
Hi! I’ve recently visited your page again, after a longer tumblr break and saw your posts about people’s comments on your fics. It made me both sad and angry. Sad because they’ve managed to take away your joy for writing Supercorp and angry that people feel like they can type out any hurtful thought that goes through their head, for a thing that is absolutely free and made with so much passion and care. 😒🤬
For what it’s worth, I always loved the way you write both of them. AND the fact that you don’t ignore Kara’s trauma and struggles. “i’m spilling all my words (but you keep 'em to yourself)” will forever be one of my favorites. Thank you for the hours of joy and fun you have given us! I hope you know that for every entitled commenter there are ten times more people who love your works! 🫵🏻🤘🏻
ahh thank you so much, i appreciate this. i have to say, sc still has me by the neck, i do plan to finish that fic & maybe write some more but it won't be anytime soon. i had hoped that the fandom would calm down with the kara hate after the show ended but i was wrong, it still hasn't changed.
when you've been writing for sc for so long, the frustration builds up, & there have been many times where i felt like i needed to (& did) restrict myself when writing them. it stops being enjoyable when people are constantly calling kara 'stupid' & insult her in many different ways for not being the happy sunshine kara danvers who takes care of lena all the time.
personally i love reading & writing the reverse situation (lena who's being the patient loving one & also the shoulder for kara to lean on) because the show didn't give us enough of that. unfortunately, people don't respond well whenever kara is struggling with her issues & lena isn't the one who's being comforted.
i write what i like & that's what i'm always going to do, but this build up of frustration over the past years & always anticipating kara hate every fic/chapter killed the joy a lot.
i've seen some authors speak about this too & it's genuinely sad to see! people can like & dislike whatever but it's important to note that there are readers out there who don't realize that their personal feelings against kara also affect authors & their love for writing supercorp
tagged by @inkedroplets who tagged me in a few things now, and I forgot to answer some of them. Shame on me, but thanks for the tag, darling:)
1. What sort of content do you create, and what is the thing you’ve made that you’re most proud of?
I started with art, then began writing, then started animating, and recently uploaded a fanvid 😅
I'm proud of them all because they are all part of the progress 😌
2. What fandom(s) do you create for?
Supergirl. I'm counting my Sadie/Saskia vid as supercorp.
3. What is your current favourite ship (or brotp if you prefer), and how controversial is it?
Supercorp. And apparently a lot of people don't like them because they hated supergirl? (At least according to tumblr tags in polls. But those people also accuse them of being too straight...)
4. For your answer to question 3, are they canon?
They are in my heart. Also, I feel that their last conversation was as close to canon as they could get.
5. What was your first fandom, and how old were you?
I was deep into Harry Potter for a long while in my life. That's what got me into fanfiction and tumblr. I still have a sweet spot for what it represented to me in my childhood and the stuff I took away from it despite the actions of some extreme lady.
6. What is your most unhinged fandom creation to date?
My Twilight Au fic 🤣
Was written as a parody, but somehow ended up being way too wholesome.
The power of pasta is my one crack fic, so there's also that.
7. Do you remember what started you off creating fandom content, and if so, what was it?
I was an avid consumer for years, but it was all thanks to the Supergirl fandom that I dared to try and create something. I was in the process of coming out and accepting myself for who I am, which, despite being in a very open and accepting environment and family, was really hard on me. Both the show, and especially the fandom, were what helped me not only to come out but also to see it in a positive light. It made me understand the meaning of pride, and I am forever grateful for that. That's why I decided to dedicate my time to creating stuff myself as thanks to this amazing community and to do my best to keep it active.♥️
8. Do you let people you know in real life see your fandom creations?
Some, yes. I have a few friends who know I write, but had not read any of my stuff. I have a few I share my art with, though.
9. How do you feel about fanworks of fanworks? Has anyone ever made something based on a thing you made?
Someone wrote a fic based on my art a while ago, and I'm still excited about it!
10. What feeling do you most often try to evoke with your creations?
Depends on the content. Each piece has its own purpose. I try to aim for fluff, but I've been told I accidentally write a lot of angst... oops?
11. Has someone ever paid your work a compliment (in any form) that has stuck with you, and what was it?
I'm always excited when fandom friends tell me they like my stuff. Or just anyone in general. It just warms my heart.
12. What’s your favourite thing someone else has made that you’ve seen in the last 24 hours (and link it if you can find it again!)
Have you read the most recent space log update? It's pretty cool...
13. Give a small sneak preview of something you’re working on right now (eg a couple of sentences of fic from a WIP, a gif set theme, a small piece of a larger picture, whatever you feel happy to share)
"Alex, you're saying that as if we're not literally standing at the entrance of a school for fairies." Kara said as she rested her hand on the handle of her large blue suitcase.
"Fair point."
"It is ridiculous, isn't it? Like, fairy collage, it just sounds so…"
"Bizarre?" Alex raised an eyebrow as a small chuckle escaped her lips.
Kara sheepishly nodded.
"Well, yes. Very. But that's our lives now, I suppose," Alex shrugged and shoved her hands in her jeans's pockets.
"You mean my life. You're going to badass school for ass kicking," Kara teased her sister.
Because apparently I'm not done making AUs based on questionable IPs.
And a bit of my card game AU:
Lena was the one to drag Andea to sneak out of school for a change. Only unlike her best friend, Lena didn't drag her out to a party or to drink alcohol, but instead to the local game shop where she could learn more about that mysterious game. Andrea wasn't as excited as her, but reluctantly agreed (if only to get out of trigonometry class). Fight for Justice, while being a bit too cheesy, Lena couldn't deny the strange allure of the name. She was fascinated to learn the different ways the game could change from moment to moment, the various objectives one can approach to win the game, and she couldn't help but absolutely adore the art on each and every card.
14. Have you ever seen/read anything made by the person who tagged you? If so, what was it and what was your favourite thing about it? (pick a favourite if there are several)
Rich girl with issues is a masterpiece, and you should all go read it!
15. Do you leave comments on fandom works, and if so how would you describe your comment style?
I try to always comment, and especially on stuff I like. I don't think I have a specific style tho😅
16. How many works in progress do you currently have? Will you finish them all?
I have about 12 that I actively started, but more that are in the concept phase. Ideally, I'll finish them all eventually.
17. what’s the longest it’s ever taken you to finish a fandom project?
It's been almost 2 years since I started The Art Of The Game. I'm close to the end, but it's been a while...
18. Describe the thing you made most recently in a way that is technically true, but also completely misleading. Link the thing if it’s published!
The hottest new trailer for the film we all have been waiting for;)
19. Do you ever engage with fanworks for a fandom you’re not in? Which one(s) and how did you get into it?
I feel like a foreigner when I see stuff from other fandoms, and I usually don't know enough about it to interact with it.
20. Recommend a fan work from your fandom to your followers
@awaitingrain has some really amazing artwork with adorable chibi designs! I'd recommend checking out her stuff!
Suggested tag list, but there are no rules here, follow your heart.
@eqt-95 @fazedlight @autisticlenaluthor @snowydragonscave @missluthorwillseeyounow @luthordamnvers have fun;)
Supercorp + baby reader
A/n : I just wrote this, literally. It might change.
Tumblr media
“I know I’m not a reporter and all, but…” Kara bit her lip trying to keep her smile from getting any bigger than it already was. “I kind of believe her.”
“If there’s one thing I learned, and through hard experience of all things…” Started Clark. “It’s to never trust what a Luthor says. Never.”
Kara’s excitement faltered slightly.
“Anyway, did you see anything when you X-rayed the room?”
“No, you?”
“No.” Admitted the man.
“See? She must be good.”
“Let’s not jump to conclusions yet Kara.” Suggested Clark with otherwise a smile on his lips.
“Now it’s my turn to ask for a favour.” Said Lena.
“Anything. Shoot.” Replied Kara.
“I need to get in touch with Supergirl.”
The wind blew lightly and two soft thud were heard from behind her.
But she wasn’t afraid, no, she was rather excited.
She rolled her chair around to face her guest.
The blonde beautiful woman was standing tall on her balcony, with her two fists on each side of her waist.
Lena could barely believe it. It actually worked.
“Supergirl.” She smiled and stood to greet the other woman who stepped into the office, her cape following her steps.
“You wanted to see me?” Said Kara in the deepest voice she could manage.
“Yeah, thank you for coming.” She said softly while Kara simply walked passed her. “Actually,” she started, reaching for a secret controller hidden underneath her desk, “if you’ll just hold on a second.”
She barely had time to say it that Kara heard a click and suddenly, the windows were sealed and she couldn’t see outside anymore, not even with her X-Ray vision.
Which obviously made her feel threatened.
“What is all this?” She asked sharply, making Lena turn around to look at her.
“Oh, I’m sorry. Those are simply my precautions, for the reason I called you here is sensitive.”
“Which would be?”
Lena was now standing next to a bookshelf in her office. One that she was pretty sure she had seen nothing off about it when she first came in with Clark.
The brunette tapped on one of the shelves before turning around to face her guest once more. This time, with a raised eyebrow and a small smirk on her face.
“This.” She answered as the bookshelf opened to a secret room. She had already began stepping into it, missing the way the blonde’s body tensed up behind her. “I know it’s cliché to be behind a bookshelf, but this is only one of them and…” She bit her lip, anxious about what would think the Super.
She was a Luthor after all, and this must seem pretty suspicious. “Anyway,” she said, bringing a small child out. “I’m really sorry, but I just didn’t know who I could trust with this.” She looked sincerely apologetic as she rocked slightly the baby in her arms.
“I’m not sure what to make of all of this.” Admitted Kara.
“What is there to make?” Answered Lena, playfully. “I’m sorry, no. Of course. I’m a Luthor and you, a Super. And I just trapped you in a room where no one can enter or eavesdrop on us. That is, indeed, a very suspicious thing.”
“Yes…”
“Please, take a seat.”
“I’m fine here.”
“Alright…”
“Waa!” Protested the baby. Making grabby hands for Kara.
“Ah. Um, I’m sorry, but would you mind holding her for a moment?”
Kara looked between the baby and the woman who was holding it.
“I-uh…” She cleared her throat and straightened her posture. “If I must.” She, again, said in the deepest voice she could manage. She tried really hard not to react to the clear happiness showing in Lena’s eyes.
The child reached for one of the blonde’s strand of curled hair and pulled.
“Ah! Rao! That hurt!” She yelled in surprise in a not so deep voice that she was sure her cover was probably blown. But then it hit her. “It… hurts…” she blinked the small tears in her eyes and looked down at the child. “[Hey little one, are you from Krypton?]” She asked in Kryptonese.
And when the child’s face lightened up at her words, she thought she could almost cry.
But then she remembered where she was. And despite the softness she had just felt, she suddenly felt cold. This could all just be a ruse to get to her.
But as she looked at the woman in front of her, she couldn’t see a single hint of mischief.
No, the otherwise young and unapproachable looking CEO was looking more like a normal person. No, like the kindest person Kara could ever meet, and that meant something considering she knew Eliza.
While Lena stared tenderly at the child who was playing with Kara’s locks, the latter found herself staring at Lena.
“So beautiful…” She mumbled.
“Hm?” Wondered Lena as she looked up at her, a true and honest smile still on her lips.
She really was a pretty woman.
At Kara’s hesitation to answer, Lena thought it was finally time to explain herself.
Do-Over (supercorp ficlet, 100th episode angst, no plot impact after)
Rao, I can’t believe we did it.
She had nearly given up, after the last timeline - she could still feel the sting of kryptonite in her veins, the harrowing image in her mind of the green stone in Lena’s chest, as she refused to fight her. “Then you will die screaming.”
But the odds of another world like that - where Lena used 5th dimensional magic, blocking Mxy out - was low. So after Kara caught her breath and shook off her nerves, they decided to give it another few goes.
They hit it in the very next shot. Kara had decided to jump forward again, meeting Lena just after an uncomfortable incident in the elevator to Sam’s apartment - “I can never trust her again” - and giving her the truth. And Lena had been pissed, at first. But over the course of the timeline, she thawed. Kara and Mxy found themselves watching a movie night, Kara’s head in Lena’s lap as Lena gently scritched the blonde’s hair, Kara dozing off in the middle of the second Pirates of the Caribbean.
“This is it,” Kara said, delighted as she turned back to Mxy. “She doesn’t hate me! No one died! This is it-”
But Kara cut off suddenly, watching the screen with widening eyes, as a sheepish and fond confession fell from Lena’s lips. And she found herself a voyeur to her own dreams, watching herself as this other Kara sat up, cheeks turning a bright pink with her own confession, before the two women’s lips gently met.
“Turn it off,” Kara said, jumping off the couch and turning away from the television. “Turn it off, Mxy.” “But this-” Mxy stuttered, confused. “This is what you wanted, isn’t it?”
Yes, Kara thought to herself, overwhelming anguish ripping through her body. Because it was everything. Everything that could’ve and should’ve happened.
Had she not been such a fool.
It was a misguided endeavor, she realized now. She could’ve ignored her misgivings, for a time anyway. Embrace a reality where she and Lena were friends again, where she had never hurt her, or at least not driven her so far.
But the pit of nausea in Kara’s stomach grew. Because the idea of being in Lena’s arms, being in her bed, feeling her wanting body, without Lena ever knowing what Kara had done, suddenly felt anathema. It wouldn’t be real. It would simply be Kara taking advantage of her again, far worse than before.
“I’m keeping the real timeline,” Kara said brokenly. “I can’t… I can’t run from this. I- I don’t know how I’m going to fix this. But I can’t undo my mistakes like this.”
Mxy’s eyes gentled at the turned-away kryptonian, holding back a sigh of relief as he snapped his fingers, the projector and reels of film and popcorn dissipating back to his dimension. It was ironic, really, that all of his fake timelines had only made the kryptonian dig in her heels, eager to find something that actually worked. But the one real timeline he had them glimpse - back on Earth-413, before the Crisis - was the one that led to her finally accepting that she couldn’t change time.
Which was great, because neither could he.
Kara took a deep, steadying breath, turning back to Mxy. “I know it didn’t turn out the way we expected,” Kara said, handing back Mxy’s recorder with his backwards-recorded name. “But you still helped me, Mxy. Now I know the only way out is through.”
The kryptonian stood - sad, but hopeful again - and Mxy gave a small smile. As with so much of the mystery of the universe, he couldn’t say how or when Kara and Lena would find their way. He only knew that they would.
“It’s true what you said, Kara,” Mxy said, thinking of the words the woman in front of him had said, not all that long ago. That’s all this endeavor was, really, returning that favor. “Magic can’t be forced. It has to be found.” And it will.
pt2
There is a searing pain coursing through her entire body. Kara wants to scream, but there is hot, viscous blood coming up her throat.
She falls to the ground, choking and gasping for air.
The pain doesn’t subside, but eventually, Kara begins to feel a coldness spread through her. She knows what this is. She closes her eyes.
***
Kara wakes up in her childhood bedroom. She is fourteen years old.
Again.
***
Alex was just as she remembered. Kara fell into her arms, letting out a breath. She shuddered, almost crying.
“Kara… my dear, sweet Kara,” Alex whispered, kissing the top of her head, “I’m so sorry.”
Kara finally pulled back. Eliza was standing behind Alex, a look of worry on her face. Kara bowed to her. Everyone around stared in shock. Kara was a princess, no, she was the Princess of Krypton. And yet, here she bowed to a Count.
“Countess Danvers… If you would accept, I would like to become a ward of your estate.”
"I gave up my right to the throne to Kal-El. Until he is of age, my aunt Astra shall be the regent. My only wish is to remain with the Danvers.”
Kara stepped towards Eliza. “My mother always brought me here for a reason. She never told me explicitly, but I’m sure you’ve realized, she trusted you and Alex with my life implicitly. She knew you were good people. I would like to spend the rest of my days with you. If you’ll have me.”
Eliza stepped forward, wrapping Kara in a hug. “Of course we will, dear. Of course we will.”
***
At night, Kara dreamt of green eyes and a cruel grin.
She woke up in a fearful sweat, her heart aching.
I won’t fall for your tricks again, Kara.
You lied to me. Over and over!
I can’t believe I ever loved you.
Kara clutched her chest, wishing she could stop these memories. But the harder she tried to suppress them, the more they seemed to come back.
She saw her smile, I love you.
She saw her scream, I will never trust you again.
Kara cried. She allowed herself this small mercy, to cry her heart out in the darkness of this night. When it was just her, where no one else could see her. She sobbed for hours over her heartbreak that no one could understand. By dawn, Kara had no strength left. She opened the curtain to let in the sun.
Kara steeled herself with the breeze coming in through the window. No more tears.
Kara began re-writing her life in her head. She would not cry over the things of the past. She would not be used as a pawn in this life. She would not be so easily manipulated. Never again. She would live her life the way she wanted to, spending her days with Alex and Eliza by her side, away from all matters of the court.
I will not keep a hold on things of the past. I will not allow it to dictate my actions in this new life.
Kara told herself this over and over again, every day and every night. To let the past go, to forget it as if it was a bad nightmare.
But she knew that those green eyes would haunt her forever.
***
Kara hadn’t seen Kal-El in this lifetime since he was a baby.
He looked the same as he did when he was a prince, although, he didn’t have that same air of arrogance about him. Kara had made the right decision, not ceding her throne to his father. It seemed that without the pressure of Jor-El, Kal-El had grown into his own man.
“Princess.” Kal-El stood tall, but there was a worry in his eyes. “We’ve lost the war against the Luthorians.”
Kara pretended to be shocked. She knew how tenacious and ruthless Lena could be, it truly was no surprise to her that she’d won. Kara was curious as to why Lena had decided to wage a war in this life, when she’d never been tempted to before. Lena had no interest in what Krypton had to offer, aside from their science - which Krypton was happy to share with the Queen who had married their Princess.
Sometimes Kara wondered if that was the only reason Lena had stuck with her for so long.
“That is… unfortunate,” Kara replied to Kal, “But, Your Majesty, did you come all this way simply to inform me about the war?”
“Princess,” Kal grimaced, sighing. “As I’m sure you know, the winning side has a right to demand spoils of war.”
“Of course. What has Queen Luthor demanded?”
“...Kara, before I tell you, I need you to know. There was no other way. I am grateful for everything you did for me. I know I would not have this position if it hadn’t been for your grace. And I tried to protect you as much as I could, but neither I nor the court can see a way around this-"
“Kal-El,” Kara said with authority, disregarding titles for the moment. “What did you give them?”
Kal-El looked at her with remorse.
“You, Kara.”
***
Kara had to take deep breaths as she entered the tent.
Green eyes.
Kara knew she was staring, but seeing her again, it seemed to knock the wind out of her.
“Your Majesty,” Kara finally said, bowing. “It’s an honour to meet you.”
“You say that as if we have never met before,” Lena said, crossing her legs and smirking at Kara. “Don’t you remember our times spent together as children?”
“That was then, Your Majesty, and this is now. We are no longer children. A certain decorum should be expected.”
Lena hummed, leaning back in her chair. “I take it you’re here to accept my proposal, then?”
“Yes. Although… I do have my conditions.”
“Conditions? Princess Kara, I don’t believe you understand the situation we are in.”
“I know that it seems the alternative to me rejecting your proposal is our kingdom having to kneel to you. But I have a proposition. I will marry you, but I want a divorce.”
If that caught Lena off guard, she didn’t let it show. Her jaw clicked as she repeated, “A divorce?”
“Yes. Marry me, and divorce me a year later. In return, I will give you my lands.”
“What use do I have for your lands?”
“Though I renounced my throne, I still retained the lands my mother’s family kept. We have mines rich with gold and libraries full of knowledge no other family in Krypton has access to. I will give it all to you, on the condition that we divorce a year later.”
“Why?” Lena asked. Kara picked at her fingers behind her back.
“I do not wish to be held as a hostage.”
“Hostage? I have no intention to keep you as a prisoner.”
That confused Kara. “If you are not taking me as collateral to ensure no retaliation from Krypton, then why send a proposal at all?”
Finally, Lena seemed to flinch. She turned her face away from Kara, sighing. Lena didn’t answer her question, instead she called for someone to bring her a pen and paper.
“I’ll accept your conditions, Princess Kara.”
Hi! You're one of my favorite supercorp writers and I want you to know I am practically vibrating at the thought of a jumanji au. Sign me the fuck up! But also, the seemingly immortal life of Lena Luthor has me incredibly curious. I would be thrilled to see more on either (or both if you're feeling generous) hope you're having a lovely day!
That's very sweet, thank you.
I've covered The (Seemingly) Immortal Life of Lena Luthor in this post.
For the Jumanji one, I know the general consensus would be that Kara goes into the jungle because it is reminscent of the Phantom Zone and her coming back all physically capable... however... In my (completely irrelevant) opinion what makes the original Jumanji film so good and takes it to a higher level (other than the excellent cast) is the father/son relationship which is the heart of it all. And the problem with Kara being Alan is that the only relationship I can give that much depth to is Kara and Alex, and I can't do the two sisters hating each other and then separating, so... Lena's relationship with Lillian takes centre stage and Lena is destined for the jungle.
I wrote a plan for this fic years ago and the intention would be like twenty chapters long, and I've written nearly all of the first chapter but lost all steam.
Anyway heres like the majority of the first chapter:
Chapter 1: And So It Begins...
"Do we have to do this every day, Mike? Aren't you bored yet?" Lena asked with a heavy sigh, pulling her bag up so it was more secure on her back in the vain hope that it might stay there just this once.
"Bored?" Mike repeated with a harsh laugh, that his mindless entourage mimicked like a pack of insipid hyenas. "Putting you in your place is the highlight of my day and more importantly a god damn civil service. Someone needs to give the Luthors their just desserts." Mike called out, stepping into Lena's space and towering over her to keep her cornered outside the school.
Lena's head merely dropped and she felt a weary acceptance wash over her. She'd given up fighting back months ago, instead she let herself be shoved into the brick wall, making her head bang and leaving her feeling dazed for the next couple of hours whilst her bag was forcibly wrenched off her back and violently opened. Her papers and school books clattering heavily to the ground and the wind scattering the loose pages across the dark asphalt.
Grubby hands reached out, ripping pages from the book she was reading. Feet crunched and kicked pens and pencils, snapping them cleanly in half.
"No, please…" Lena begged before she could stop herself as Mike dug through her bag and pulled out the small portable chess set that she'd hidden at the bottom in the hope that it would go unnoticed.
The second Lena made her plea, Mike's entire expression brightened upon having finally found something that provoked a reaction after months of sullen quiet during his torment.
Mike sneered at her, "I think I'll keep a hold of this."
Lena's eyes stung with tears that she tried desperately to keep from falling. She couldn't help thinking it would be better for him to destroy it, to throw it underfoot and stamp on it. At least that way, Lena could scoop up the pieces and try to repair it in secret in the garage as she had taken to doing with all her belongings after Mike had gotten his hands on them.
"No!" Lena yelled in anguish, jumping forward and making to snatch the chess set back from Mike who held it aloft and out of reach, giving a back hand across her face when she took to thwacking him with clenched fists in the futile hope of making him give up his prize.
Mike's blow knocked her to the ground, splitting her lip and grazing her knees and palms. Lena glowered up at him, the fight going out of her as Mike's pack crowded round to push her back down if she tried to go after Mike again.
Mike bent forward, leaning down into Lena's face, the chess set behind his back securely out of reach. He sneered down at her as he muttered darkly, "Stay away from my girlfriend, Luthor."
Mike stood back up, kicking an errant science book off to the side and ruining the pages. He clapped his hands together, readying his pathetic gang to move out.
Even at the young, tumultuous age of thirteen Lena had a stubborn streak that would normally take decades to cultivate to such a degree. Many people who knew the Luthors would say this particular trait was genetic and that it had distilled strongest into the youngest Luthor. People who knew Lena, however, would know Lena worked hard at being stubborn all on her own, and reaped the benefits.
"Last time I checked she wasn't your girlfriend." Lena snarled back to Mike's turned back because… well, she just couldn't help herself... especially when it came to Kara Danvers.
Mike's head spun round, his gaze sharp and predatory, his pride wounded by the comment which had drawn a couple of quick, unguarded chuckles from his followers.
"You're going to pay for that." Mike revealed through gritted teeth.
Lena fleetingly thought to herself, it was definitely worth it.
"Lena, are you okay?"
"No worse than usual." Lena replied with a small shrug, trying to sound older and more confident than her years and diminutive posture, as she perched on the stool next to John's workstation in the Luthor Corp labs.
"Oh, Lena…" John sighed sadly, shifting from his stool to go and grab the nearby first aid kit, returning with it and quickly opening it to pull out the disinfectant wipes which he tenderly used to clean away the blood from her split lip. "Let me guess, fell down in the playground again?" His tone knowing, though there was the barest hint of hope that she would share the truth this time.
"Something like that…" Lena grunted despondently, keeping her eyes on the spotless tiles, whilst she fiddled with the nearby pieces of wiring laid out nearby.
"Careful with that." John admonished, and Lena's hands dropped forlornly to her sides. "Your mother should be here any minute, I was just about to show her my latest idea." Lena huffed a breath to acknowledge his words but didn't say anything in response. "I'm hoping to get her buy in for it, I think it might be rather revolutionary." John revealed, nudging Lena with his elbow and trying to inspire a smile or a bit of cheeriness.
John Jones had worked for Luthor Corp for as long as Lena had been alive. He had stuck by the company through her father's embezzling and crooked deals and he had stayed even after her brother was convicted for four life sentences. He had seen three Luthor Corp CEOs (Lionel, Lex and Lillian) and he always nudged Lena good naturedly to say he was pretty sure the fourth one would be his favourite.
It was John's love of science and the freedom Luthor Corp gave him to experiment and tweak with his various bits of machinery that had kept him around (that and his fondness for the young girl who would sit by him and ask advanced questions regarding his work, absorbing his words like a sponge).
"Suit yourself…" John muttered, patting the young girl on the back as he went to return the first aid kit to its designated spot, leaving Lena to wallow in her pity party.
Mike had always been a douche (at least in Lena's humble opinion). He was tall and athletic for his age (fourteen, he was in the grade above Lena) without trading any of his boyish charm that made teachers and adults alike turn a blind eye to his more cruel indulgences. He'd always looked down on Lena, the quiet, pale girl with a nose always in a book, her fingers never too far from a chess piece and her tongue always ready with a quick and cutting remark that had put the boy in his place more times than he cared to (or could) count.
For most of her life, his disdain for her had only been notable in how he ignored her and scoffed at her every other word. What had kept him in check for all that time and now, during normal school hours, was Kara Danvers.
Kara had been Lena's best friend since the first day of kindergarten. The little blonde girl had plonked herself down next to Lena during playtime and stared at her, mouth agape without uttering a word. Newly adopted Kara Danvers was a bit of an oddity at the school, the loss of her parents rendering her mute. She hadn't spoken to anyone since the Danvers had taken her in.
Little Lena hadn't questioned Kara's sudden appearance next to her, she merely nodded and smiled at her before returning to her book. Time passed and Kara slowly shuffled closer, Lena not reacting like the other kids did with taunts and jibes, just letting the other little girl get closer and closer, peering over her shoulder to read her book. Without missing a beat, Lena started to read out loud to her. She read to her during every break and playtime without complaint whilst Kara listened to her and stared at her in wonder.
One playtime, Kara came over with a book tucked under her arm and she held it out shyly for Lena. Lena accepted it and read it to Kara like she had all the others. From then on, Kara would bring a different book each day and Lena would read it. The two of them in their own little world separate to the other children.
Eventually, Kara murmured a quiet 'thank you' (ironically this rendered Lena speechless and unable to respond). By the end of the year, Kara had switched from mute to a rambling, unstoppable chatterbox but only to Lena, who happily listened to the babbling and openly encouraged it.
The two were inseparable from that year onwards, growing up with one another and becoming closer and closer as they did so.
Lena remained shy and timid, hiding herself away with all the scandals her father and brother destroyed their family name with, and learning to protect herself with cutting remarks. Her and Kara switched roles as time went on. Lena, once the darling child of the town's most prominent employer and family, became the social outcast and the child of disreputable scoundrels.
Whereas Kara, once awkward and mute with a propensity for panic attacks, blossomed as she grew older. Her straw hair turning golden, shooting up in height and strength, her smile becoming well-known for being dazzling and heartwarming to all passerbys.
Mike had made his infatuation blatantly obvious over the last couple of years. Kara put up with his attempts to charm her with good humour but she always politely declined his suggestions to go and see a movie together, regularly claiming that she already had plans with Lena. That's what really made Mike set his sights on Lena as his target, thinking he could make Lena put some distance between herself and her best friend if it meant stopping the bullying. Lex's sentencing gave Mike the cover he needed to get the support of the other kids to target her and make the adults turn a blind eye.
The one thing Mike was smart enough to never do was to go after Lena in front of either Kara or Alex (who had more or less taken Lena on as her other little sister), knowing the hell that they would unleash on him in response. He also knew Lena would never tell anyone, the embarrassment of not being able to defend herself was what stopped her from trying to fight back and was what prevented her from asking for help.
Lena shook her head trying to clear the haze clouding her mind as she thought through what had gotten her into her current sorry state. Whilst her mind had wondered, so also had her fingers which had reached out to fiddle, yet again, with the wiring laid out on the top, her forefinger wrapping a green piece of wire around it.
"Mrs Luthor, thank you for coming down." John's excited voice boomed out across the laboratory.
Immediately, Lena jerked in surprise, her limbs moving instinctively back to her sides resulting in her pulling the green wire free from its housing with a clear 'snap'.
"Crap." Lena muttered under her breath twisting round on her stool, intent on trying to quickly repair what had been broken without anyone noticing.
"It's always a pleasure, John." Her mother replied politely, though there was that rare hint of warmth that revealed a particular fondness for her employee. "What is it that's got you so desperate to get me down here?"
"It's easier if I show you," John replied with a light chuckle, "it's right over here. Lena's keeping watch over it for me."
Lena knew she had mere seconds. There were two potential connection points for the green wire that she had pulled free. She had a fifty-fifty chance of getting it right. Lena muttered a minor prayer and clicked the wire into the position on the left and spun back around in time for her mother to come into view, John by her side.
"Lena, darling, what happened?" Lillian immediately asked, her powerful stride switching to what could only be considered an undignified jog the second she saw the split lip and the bruise already forming under her daughter's right eye.
Lena's jaw tensed and she focused on keeping a firm mask in place that gave nothing away. Lillian was at her side, and Lena watched with mild frustration as her mother reached out a comforting hand but stopped short. Her hand falling instead back to her side. Lena pushed down the familiar pang of pain at that.
Lillian hadn't hugged or touched her since the revelations of her favourite child's crimes.
Lena knew she didn't match up.
That she would never reach the impressive heights Lex had reached in either of her parents' eyes but it still hurt knowing she just wasn't good enough.
"Lena?" Lillian prompted, her voice turning stern and demanding as Lena worked herself into a sullen silence. "Have you been getting into fights?" Lillian demanded, causing Lena's fists to clench by her sides whilst John squirmed uncomfortably in the background. "Did you hurt someone?"
Lena's simmering anger boiled over at that.
Lillian always assumed Lena was in the wrong. The first day Lena brought home a ripped up book, courtesy of Mike's bullying, and tried to hide it behind her back, Lillian presumed she had done the damage during a temper tantrum (something Lena wouldn't willingly admit had become a regular occurrence following the damage caused by her family).
Lena was sick of being the one to blame. Of not being good enough.
"No! Do you even bloody hear yourself?" Lena yelled with a dismissive snarl, jumping to her feet and pushing roughly past her mother (Lena refused to acknowledge how that passing blow was the first physical contact they'd shared in the last six months).
"Lena!" Lillian rebuked as Lena snatched her back-pack up and hurried out of the room, pausing to turn sharply back around. "Get back here now!"
"So you can what? Pretend to be my mother for five minutes?" Lena scoffed, her mother had barely been there over the last year and whenever she did make an effort, Lena pushed back which meant Lillian pushed back harder. Every attempt to bridge the distance between them ended in them inevitably moving further apart.
Lillian's lips pursed together tightly and Lena knew she was about to be ordered back to her side, and Lena… couldn't bear the idea of sitting awkwardly in Lillian's company, trying to desperately avoid telling Lillian the truth.
That she was weak.
That she wasn't anywhere near as strong, or likeable or perfect as Lex.
She couldn't bear to not be enough yet again.
So Lena decided to make Lillian feel it instead. She decided to make it hurt.
"Pretend to actually love me?" Lena shot back before Lillian had a chance to speak.
Lillian's expression morphed instantly, the sternness vanishing to be replaced by dull shock. Lena knew she was crossing a line with her next words, but they were already on the tip of her tongue and she'd never had particularly good impulse control.
"As if you know how to love anything." Lena spat out, the words tasting as venomous as she knew they were. Lillian's face fell incrementally, and Lena hated how it didn't satisfy the hollow ache in her chest that had been there, steadily expanding over the last couple of years. "Everyone knows you don't have a heart."
Lena spun on her heel and sprinted away, unable to bring herself to watch the impact of her words.
Midvale was a relatively small town considering it was a home to a nationwide technology company. The majority of the town worked at either Luthor Corp head office or in the Research and Development department. Those not working at Luthor Corp worked to keep the town going and provide the everyday necessities.
It was a beautiful town overall. The prosperity provided by Luthor Corp kept everyone in good wealth and health. It was the kind of town where you felt comfortable letting your children disappear on their bikes for endless hours in the summer. Midvale was surrounded by trees on all sides, with a river winding around it and through it in many places, making it more or less a fairytale location.
Lena loved her hometown.
Though she now received slightly suspicious glares from her neighbours when she used to receive warm smiles, there was never any overt hostility (Mike and his posse being the exception). For the most part people would still yell a happy greeting when they saw her and ask how she was doing, however those conversations were nowhere near as long or as sincere as they would be if she was either Kara or Mike.
Lena was stomping home after her not-quite a fight with her mother. The clouds were turning a dark grey, looking ominous and heavy with rainfall. It was the frustration of thinking her day was literally about to take a cinematic turn and start raining on her that made Lena rationalise another poor decision, because… by this point… what else could really go wrong?
There was a construction site on the corner of the street and Lena needed to be on the road running parallel to the one she was on. Not keen to walk to the end of the street and turn there, Lena decided to cut the corner and head through the cleared area. The construction crew had already headed home for the day so Lena didn't fear getting caught.
Not much noticeable progress had been made so far on the new restaurant that was going to occupy this prime piece of real estate. The derelict store that had previously been there had been knocked down and the foundations for the new build were being laid leaving Lena a clear cut-through.
She was halfway through the site when she heard it.
Ba-dum…
Ba-dum…
Ba-dum…
The drum beats reverberated impossibly around the open space, thrumming through Lena's mind and calling out to something deep and primal within her. Immediately her feet stopped moving and she turned slowly around seeking out the source of the drum beats. Off the path to her right was a significant hole and Lena found herself inextricably moving towards it, sliding down the dusty sides into the basin.
Ba-dum… Ba-dum… Ba-dum…
The drumbeats were closer together, their intensity increasing with every step taken by Lena. Lena's fingers were digging into the dirt before she'd fully realised what she was doing. With little effort large clumps of earth fell away in-sync with the pounding rhythm of the drums.
A dark, varnished wooden box slowly became visible and Lena felt a shudder of excitement flood through her as it came into view.
Ba-dumBa-dumBa-dum
The intensity reached a new fever pitch as Lena reached out to grab the box. The second her fingers curled around the box's sides, the drums cut out leaving a deafening silence.
Lena's heart was racing and adrenaline was coursing through her system. A sudden squeak from the direction of the chain link fence surrounding the site had Lena bolting from the area as fast as her legs could carry her.
The box tucked safely under her arm.
xxx
Lena carefully applied the heated glue to the book’s spine, steady fingers ensuring her Physics textbook cover was in the perfect position before pressing down firmly. The Physics textbook was the last item to undergo her meticulous repairs on her workbench in the garage. Her calculator's screen was cracked but she had managed to get it working again with only minimal finagling of the electronics.
She had finished just in time as she heard the front door of the Luthor mansion closed with an echoing boom, the heavy door always loud regardless of the force used, announcing the arrival of her mother. Lena immediately swept her repaired belongings into her back-pack and pulled a heavy cloth over her workbench, hiding away all evidence of her embarrassing repairs. She hurried to the garage door that led into the house, yanking it open and rushing through it only to collide with her mother’s looming form.
“Lena.” Lillian greeted, taking a hasty step backwards, out of her daughter’s space; the surprise at Lena’s sudden appearance disappearing behind a more familiar scowl.
“Mother.” Lena shot back coldly, blocking the garage door with her body which only made Lillian’s piercing gaze narrow all the more.
“What were you doing in there?”
“Nothing.” Lena replied far too quickly to pull off the casualness wished to convey.
“Nothing?” Lillian repeated unconvinced, “Lena-”
“Just homework!” Lena snapped loudly, heart pumping frantically in her chest at the mere thought of having to admit to the shame of repairing her belongings after her daily bullying - she didn’t know if her dwindling self-confidence could take another reminder of how she was so much less than her brother.
Lillian’s jaw clenched and Lena could see her mother weighing up whether to push the issue or not. After the longest handful of seconds in Lena’s life, her mother finally sighed and shook her head wearily, clearly deciding Lena’s lies weren’t worth her time, a thought which greatly undercut Lena’s relief.
“Fine.” Lillian muttered in beleaguered acceptance, before gesturing with an elegant wave of her hand towards the depths of the house. “Dinner is ready; Pauline finished preparing it and left it on the table before heading home.”
“Okay.” Lena breathed, eyes downcast towards the floor waiting impatiently to be dismissed.
“I have to attend a gala tonight,” Lillian revealed softly - Lena would almost have described it as apologetic if she didn’t know her mother better, “so I won’t be joining you.”
“What a surprise…” Lena grumbled, derisively rolling her eyes.
Lillian tapped the sharp point of her heel frustratedly at Lena’s tone, “We need to have a serious conversation about your attitude.”
“Uh huh…” Lena hummed sarcastically, lifting her chin to defiantly stare her mother down, “that would require you to deign to spend more than five minutes in my presence.”
Lillian sighed heavily, rubbing her temple with long, somewhat shaky fingers, “Lena, it’s… I…”
“Whatever.” Lena scoffed, turning on her heel and marching away from her mother for the second time that day.
