so we all know that Oscar was basically the president of the Lando Norris fanclub back in the day, but my question is, does Lando know? Like I think back to that face mask video when Oscar asked Lando how many sibling's he had and we all suspect that Oscar fully knew the answer. So was he trying to play it cool so Lando didn't catch on that he maybe knew a little too much, or was he trying to play it cool so we the viewers didn't catch on to how much Lando content he has consumed (he has failed, we know Oscar, we know. Especially since he referenced a Quadrant video later in the exact same video).

WAIT WAIIIIIT no okay I'm calling it Oscar knew that Lando had already told the story about being locked out of his house in a video before. I can't remember if it was a stream or a Quadrant video but Lando said he was playing on the sim in their shed and his parents forgot he wasn't in the house and locked up. I'm sorry but Oscar does NOT look like this is the first time he's heard this and even filling in the "and fell through" before Lando says it. CAUGHT.

and let's not forget Lando absolutely knowing Oscar would know the year of his maiden podium in the Splunk video. CAUGHT.

I'm gonna say that Lando knows to a certain degree that Oscar's a fanboy and honestly he's got to just find it funny/cute/endearing imo. Lando's not the type to be mean or an asshole - even when he and Max would sometimes almost have an outright spat on stream Lando would back down first and make a self-deprecating joke. and Max is fully able to stand up to Lando and give as good as he gets! so I can't see Lando ever being anything but amused or fond or both to find out 'kitten pulled from a nap' Oscar has been a fan of his for years.

god this reminded me how unhingedly in sync they were in the Most Likely To video considering they didn't even know how many brothers and sisters they each had yet. it's also unbearable for how much they watch each other and like… one of the best videos for Lando clearly just finding Oscar like, just so cute ??? straight up 'that's my nerdy lil guy' alsfgljasfgljasg and I mean Oscar stares at Lando literally constantly so nothing new there.

this resulted in a tense stand-off about who takes the longest to get ready which Oscar diplomatically decided was equal between them.

most likely to snore being Lando is hysterical bc they both clearly know that Oscar knows. I love how Oscar drops the issue very wisely and Lando's tone gets VERY clipped at the end. I also feel like this could be a catch-out for Oscar too !! bc Max said on one of his streams about Lando's snoring sounding like Valentino Rossi revving his bike in the next room. so it's highly sus that Oscar said "have you had feedback on that before?" CAUGHT?

"if you dare say me" Lando being absolutely livid that Oscar already knows Lando is most likely to cry during a sad movie. Oscar wisely conceding but his face says otherwise. what has Oscar had to deal with and which movie was it that Oscar had to deal with a sobbing Lando over.

Oscar's earlier retaliation comes back to bite him on the ass over most likely to be late !! when he looks at Lando's face he initially concedes. Lando however pushes his luck and Oscar must stand up for himself. the couch is already made up so might as well.

oh my fucking god

okay so i've been writing a silly goofy tylorpe fanfiction, right?

well my dad is kinda the person i read it to in order to get ideas and just like beta read in a way. he's a great guy and loves listening to any bullshit i happen to write. truly a wonderful guy.

but he has NEVER ACTUALLY SEEN WEDNESDAY, only the trailer!

so he only knows tyler and xavier from my gd story LMAO and well, tonight we were talking about the show and I said that I loved the juxtaposition between percy as an actor and his character xavier; and when i described the fact that percy is like, golden retriever energy and xavier is wet cat energy- my dad was suddenly like

"oh, wait! is xavier the one by the punch bowl that looks like this; >:((? you described him very well!" and we both fucking DIED laughing because apparently i managed to encapsulate "gloomy angsty pathetic wet cat boy" perfectly enough that my dad IMMEDIATELY, from a 2 second clip, zeroed in on who xavier was without my father even actually knowing who he was. my dad was just like; "wELL he was the only person at the whole party who looked- like that! like >:((! everyone else was having a good time! meanwhile he was just >:(( so it had to be xavier, right?"

and i lost it. he lost it. needless to say for a solid minute we found ourselves unable to fucking breathe. it was wonderful. xavier is such a disgruntled character. it's amazing. i cannot believe i got his character down that well.

anyways i just had to share this because it got a real good laugh out of me, and! we are going to watch the show tonight, haha! i am very excited

Shiny Happy People Thoughts: Afterwords

TW: The Duggars

- I think this was a great show for a lot of different reasons and honestly enjoyed it overall, even if I did get overwhelmed at points

- It allowed victims to safely come out about IBLP and the Duggars

- It explained the purpose of this Culture War being fought and perpetuated by conservatives

- It explained how purity culture and other christian ideas became so saturated in the US, especially the South

- I personally connected to a lot of the smaller details and felt seen large scale. It's one thing to talk on a faceless tumblr blog, it's another to see it on a mainstream streaming platform

- I hope there's a second season that focuses on the current fundamentalist movement more than the section of episode 4 did. I think it'll be good to see it in all of its modern forms and expose more people to it

- I do wish there were a few people of color telling their experiences with this, but do think that would be more of a season two thing where they'd have to build on the season one establishment of the Joshua Generation and its purpose

- I also am very excited to keep watching Paul and Morgan's meltdown about their part in all of this. I hope all these fundie influencers start to get exposed by mainstream audiences. Bethany from GD already got exposed for that one clip of her. I hope this whole movement gets exposed and shut down

I NEVER WATCHED IT BUT I DO REMEMBER THAT THEY MARKETED THE SHIT OUT OF THAT MOVIE AT MY LOCAL THEATRE AND I HAD NO IDEA WHY BECAUSE ALL I HEARD ABOUT IT WERE BAD THINGS 💀 ALSO I AM VERY POLITELY ASKING FOR THE FOUR PARAGRAPH LAMENT AND ANALYSIS, I THINK IT WOULD BE INTERESTING TO HEAR FROM SOMEONE WHO KNOWS THE BOOKS WELL

OKAY CRACKS KNUCKLES LETS GO-

anon. i am so happy you never experienced this. it was so bad. it was so fucking bad. to quote the wikipedia page "The film received negative reviews from critics, who criticized the film's plot, dialogue, characters, visual effects, and changes made to the source material." which is fucking hysterical because as you can see, that is in fact..... all of it. the whole movie. that is all of the things about the movie! and boy was this prescient of the experience i was about to have.

so, without further ado, here is my rant as an Artemis Fowl Lover Of Many Many Years on what was insanely, profoundly, hideously wrong with that movie. under a cut for the wellbeing of my dash bc this is uhhhhh a LOT more than four paragraphs i'm so sorry. i still have so much more i could say but. i'll leave it at this. which is already a lot.

THE OPENING & PLOT

literally right from the very opening it was just..... bad. it was very bad. it started with this news blitz of like, clips of reporters talking about some mysterious big drama, and it was the. weirdest possible tone. to start this story from? it was weird and bad. every character's introduction was weird and bad. butler's actor was wearing fucking irradiated blue contact lenses for some fucking reason. artemis was surfing. what is going on here.

so here are some wild choices they made: artemis's mom? dead. artemis's dad? PRESENT AND ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN HIS LIFE. he is a leather jacket wearing, affectionate, involved Cool Dad who just has to go on a lot of work trips. friends, those of you who read these books will remember that the situation is that artemis's father has been gone for like Two Years, and artemis's mother is......... basically comatose in her room. she is very much not doing any parenting. this is the specific collection of factors that lets the whole plot happen, because it leaves artemis without any supervision or parenting, and also just enough like. cover for the plot to allow this to keep happening, because artemis iirc goes to great lengths to cover up his mom's like. catatonia.

i didn't watch most of the movie. i watched less than nineteen minutes of it. so i can't say much about the plot, but this setup of like........... COOL STUNTS and mulch diggums being interviewed by the human-ass police and artemis's dad teaching him about the faeries because they're Bonding (???????) and there's a basement of faerie artifacts in fowl manor it just. i don't. why would you do this.

ARTEMIS HIMSELF

oh my gd. they massacred my boy- like. okay. listen. i was listening to a wonderful podcast - it's called the shrieking shack, i highly recommend it, and it's a podcast by and for, quote "lapsed h/arry pott/er fans" and the hosts are great, it's well edited, it's a wonderful, hilarious read. in one episode i was just listening to, artemis fowl came up! the host liz was saying that she was just generally fed up with and burnt out on the 'boy genius' genre as a whole, which is fair. i respect that and i vibe with it. however, she didn't recall anything from the actual books themselves, which became clear, because her cohost, xeecee, sort of cut in to correct that like. actually, these books were a pretty effective and highly specific deconstruction of the Cool Boy Genius Genre.

artemis is smart as all hell, that's true. he's incredibly smart. however, he's also a smug, irritating, irresponsible little shit who makes bad choices, and the narrative and other characters are not easy on him for this. he's not supposed to. he's not cool, or smooth, or admirable, or whatever. he's just... a shitty baby with no supervision, entirely too much money, yes too smart for his own good, but making bad decisions and seeing consequences for those decisions and having to grapple with like. the way those bad decisions have consequences for other people too. and the movie....... un-subverted that. they ruined it entirely, because actually yes, in that film we are directly supposed to think artemis is Really Cool! we're introduced to him SURFING for fuck's sake. artemis fowl. introduced to us SURFING.

and then there's like......... the introduction, the first couple of MINUTES of this movie. like within the first three or so minutes. they torpedoed any chance i would have at taking this seriously as an adaptation of artemis fowl.

and so what really struck me very quickly as Extremely Wrong is that - and this is something that as an adult particularly reflecting on this makes me profoundly fucking sad - but he's too..... happy. in the first several minutes. he's happy. he's having fun. he's relaxed, he's a kid. that's not........ he's not like that in the books. he's not happy. he's not running around grinning because golly gee gosh does he love being in the outdoors in ireland!!!!! he's severe, and intense, and focused and we see him smug, and self-satisfied, and proud, and like. excited in an intellectual, aha what a clue kind of way, but he is not happy. and he specifically isn't relaxed and like- bouncy-happy the way he is in the first several minutes here. this movie so thoroughly misses the mark that it misses one of the most acute pieces of like. pathos? in these books? which is that artemis himself is a really fucking tragic character. like yeah, he's a shitty baby and he sucks, but that's 1. the point, and 2. he is a Child who didn't have a chance in hell of actually being one.

i think we get to see him like. shed that a bit, later on, and actually have some moments where he is happy. but it's so like........... it takes a longass time and it's extremely hard-won, from a reader's perspective. when we see him crack and act like a kid, it's huge. it's extremely emotionally affecting. so to have his introduction not only involve SURFING but artemis grinning and bouncing around and doing sick skateboard trips..... no. that's not...... no. at this point the protagonist is unrecognizable, and why are you doing an adaptation. just make a different movie.

BUTLER

in his introductory sequence, the narrative says he is never to be called The Butler, even though his last name IS butler, and "you could call him 'dom' or 'domovoi'" which...... lmfao. fuck off. you could resoundingly NOT call him that, that was in fact a major plot point. twice. this really, really fucking bothered me, because like..... that is specifically a character thing that i really really liked from the books, the whole thing about butler's first name. and the thing they did with artemis's parents, with his mom being dead and his dad just sort of Being Here As An Active Presence like. completely undermined the whole...... thing, with artemis and butler. butler was his father figure, but neither of them could really..... they were both kept at arm's length from this for a very long time, because butler was employed by the fowl family and artemis is like. so fucking emotionally repressed that he is practically made of stone. like...

one of the reasons that butler was a character i was always pretty fascinated by as an adult who like, pretty seriously failed artemis but also couldn't really have done any better because of the specific combination of factors that landed both of them where they were in life. and the emotional core of their relationship was something i was obsessed with as a kid who was just getting super into Found Family As A Trope. and the whole thing where like....... one of THE major cracks we see in artemis's persona, the biggest CONSEQUENCES that he sees is when he makes a mistake, he gets outplayed, and butler is fatally shot. he's devastated, he's terrified, and it's his fault. someone he loved - whether or not he could contextualize it like that - was going to die and it was his fault. and that scene of him dealing with this, and making this plan to save him and needing to move butler to the restaurant freezer and being too small to move him effectively was like.... man that hit so hard. and none of that hits without this deliberate distance that's represented by the fact that not only does artemis not refer to butler by his first name, he does not fucking know what it is.

and then in this movie the first line that artemis says to butler addresses him directly as "dom" and i- no. i think i actually said "fuck off" out loud. because come on.

THE UH. CASTING CHOICES. THEY MADE. HOO BOY.

so i didn't get to meet either of them in the movie and this was for the best, but boy did they ever make some casting choices with root and holly.

i love dame judi dench, i love the THOUGHT of her playing root, but like.......... of all the characters you could genderbend, literally pick any of them but that one. any of them. at all. personally? i think it'd be fucking great to make mulch a woman, or trouble kelp. i personally, for my own enjoyment, would fucking LOVE to see a Cool Butch Lady Trouble Kelp. bruh. PLEASE. but........ root?????? genderbending that character specifically undermines the entire Deal with him and holly. because the fact that root was a kinda shitty older man who had to pull his head out of his ass was THE POINT. but uh. not like they got into that i guess, given what i heard they did with holly. who, speaking of-

and casting a kid to play holly? no. no. fuck off. she is a grown-ass adult woman. i'm not even gonna get into this. it's so bad. why the fuck would you do that. that's probably what actually got me to bail because i thought i'd like, hallucinated that or something but my buddy confirmed that no, she was played by A CHILD. good lord. no.

Hii diary!! So like OMG, i saw LIREALLY the most adorbes tiktok earlier, totally super cute and stuff. So Kim K was with Mimi, and their kids North & Monroe did a dance video and their moms joined in in like a total twist ending! so fun lol, luv how such boss girls like KK and MC are besties like their kids, total inspo BFF goals! Loved Mimi's leggings and boots combo too, so fetch, need to try see what brands they were!

I know what isn't fetch though. So like, 2 my fav influencers seem to me having major fallout which is super lame :( Brekie Hill is calling Livvy Dunne a bully and a mean bitch, but like Livvy is super amazee, so I think Brekie is being a total bitch and being super catty because she's well jel how popular Livvy is! I know I am but thats cuz i wanna be popular (esp with the boys!!!) but I'm super happy shes done well! She deserves it!

Speaking of cute boys, Harry Styles is holding a tour soon! I wont be able to make it this year, but I need to save upo to go to his next one! He's soooo dreamy and like such a gd singer too! Gonna watch every clip of his tour online I can find for now! I luv this pic of him in PJ's, I'd wear something cute if slept with him too but also super sexy bc its Styles duh!!!

I know it wasn't a tour, but RiRi's performance at the sports thing was amazee! Such a total queen I had to shake my booty to her! AND Oh My Gawd!! She's pregnant!!! Her amd ASAP Rocky are the perf couple, bet this baby will be super cute just like her baby boy! I hope we find his name out one day!! But like her outfit was to die for! Total crimson red she was on fire! But shes so amazee with her fashion choices, like I seriously would never have thought about wearing a cotton canvas flight suit, but she pulled it off so well! That silk jersey catsuit and leather corset just made it to die for! Was custom made for her by Loewe, who I've never heard off, so will totally look them up and see if I can get some fake stuff to feel like RiRi hehe! Also I'm gonna make sure I get like all her albums. Don't worry RiRi, I'll get you your money!

I do need to invest in some makeup though, and take a look at my skin care routine. Gonna watch some tutorial's on the basics and see if I can get some Kylie makeup. Love her brand and shes an icon too! A girl at work always looks on point, I might have to ask her what she uses!

I want to start off by saying I do believe that there's something going on with th and jk. The reason I asked the original ask is because there's so much photos and coincidences with jennie and th, so I won't dent that sometimes I question things

So Why would Tae use a gay ship to cover up a hetero relationship?- my only theory is that the kpop industry loves fan service. Regardless of me believing taekook or not, we can't deny that kpop fans would rather ship male x male idols then see them with a women. IF jennie and th are dating then I'm sure they've seen the shit storm that has been going on online. So what's the best way to cool it down? Give them some fan service content!! look now the th and jennie stuff has died down again.

I will say that my theory could go both ways. Maybe th sees the jennie posts and doesn't like it so he posts about jk to shut the shippers up and make it known that taekook is a thing.

One thing I did love about the live is that th excluded jk from his friends. He said he's playing with his friends AND jk is here. So jk is more than just a friend. Reminds of that clip where jk told tae to introduce him properly and not just as his friend.

AAHH okay, I remember (hopefully, though I've got so many asks now I sometimes do get what people are talking about when refering to an ask from days/weeks previously), and now that ask makes a whole lot more sense. At least if you and the anon are referring to this ask:

Firstly, I will say you're (if that is the ask you and they are referring to) slightly contradicting yourself, as in the original ask it states "I actually don’t think tk are together, I just lurk on army spaces, so I wouldn’t care either way whether Tae was dating her," but then in this ask you say... "I want to start off by saying I do believe that there's something going on with th and jk." If it's not your asks then this whole paragraph getting weirder by the character....

Now back to your theory...

It all hinges on the photos...

Photos that have from both Blackpink and BTS fandoms (and not just shippers mind) proven been shown and proven to be photoshopped from stolen private photos, from two artist we have no knowledge of ever being close.

But why would they use a ship that for BigHit had for 4 years presented the narrative to the public/fandom that Taekook were not close only to start shipping them. BigHit still really doesn't promote Taekook, yes they let moments happen are kept in, but it's still anything like what other ships got in content and Taekook push that themselves.

Plus, Taekook for the last 3 years have been on a trajectory that shows them to be much more close and intimate to the general public well before Taennie was a thing. So pushing a ship that had been more in the forefront doesn't make sense.

Plus, in May she dumped GD only shack up with Tae in the same month, all the while being on the other side of the planet (as confirmed by Blinks), I she must be a superwoman/time-traveller.

The rest of Taennie is all just loose threads and coincidences nothing more.

Regarding Taennie as a potential TK cover, I think it was less about Taekook and more about Tae. Cover for Tae and Tae's sexuality, Just like G Dragon's sexuality and sort of Kai's sexuality. All the men she's had relationships with, all have whispers of being queer.

But the live is great I do agree, and just adds further weight to the fact they are close and together... a lot.

Taeyang seems like a nice, humble person to me after watching it. He has some things in common with Yoongi. (I'm a lil sorry for roasting Taeyang before now. But this hairstyle really isn't it...) As usual, deep talks about being famous and a lil on music. Taeyang gave me some nice advice. It's nice to see a lil more footage of Yoongi eating. Yoongi said he worked with Tablo and was really excited about it. Did they work together before? I don't remember hm. It was so cute that he talked more about how bigbang was a big role model for the boys. He said that they drank alcohol and then sang bang bang bang like 100 times at a karaoke place once Jk turned 20 lol Taeyang want Jimin and Yoongi to come to his house and he'll cook kimchi stew for them aww.

Bigbang really were iconic legends. Bang bang bang is such a bop. And I liked a few of their other songs too. I used to really like GD. They took forever to release anything though istg. My feelings on them are illogically bitter. Because of that guy with his big af scandal ew. Top's drug "scandal" doesn't count for me. The only ok ones might be Taeyang and Daesung for me.

GD used to be like one of the only people i knew the r name of in kpop, i’ve never invested time into looking deeper into them as a group though, i know a few members have been kinda iffy or at least accused of things 🥲

there's a really good documentary about their career together and there was this fucking story that was like. stephen was asked to go to this chess tournament while he was supposed to be writing with high for something and stephen dips on a writing session to fly to greece and when he comes back there's a fucking note from hugh that says "it's as if you don't realize how much i love you" and i think about that sometimes. it's from this documentary it's very good

..... I finished all of Stranger things last night...

SPOILERSSSSSSS

Ain't no way in hell that I sat through 3 seasons of ts JUST to see Eddie Munson. I was so gd happy when I finally saw him. THESE MOTHERFUCKERS KILLED HIMM! Make it make sense, you just introduced him THIS SEASON... SO HOW TF DID HE DIEE?? HE WENT THROUGH THE EXACT SAME THING STEVE WENT THROUGH AND HE DIES????!! BUT STEVE IS ALIVE. yes yes, ik Nancy, and robin as well as Eddie had helped him before he died. But we all saw them bites. But all in all, we should have saw it coming. Think about it. All of HIS moments and scenes were fucking packed into episode 1 and 2. All the moments from edits and random clips were shown in episode 1 and 2. The only time we got to see Eddie was when they would give us a quick peek into Reefer Ricks. Or whenever Eddie was in trouble they would show that. A good example could be when Patrick and Jason found him at Ricks. And Eddie was in the boat trying to escape. It was only after that happened did we actually get to see more of Munson. I see a lot of people in comments saying, "why is no one talking about Max". We aren't talking about her because AT LEAST SHE HAS A CHANCE OF BEING ALIVE! EL LITERALLY BROUGHT HER BACK TO LIFE! and yes max is in a coma or whatever but she's alive bruh people cared about her enough to help her. No one except Dustin cared about Eddie. I just know 1 thing better happen for season 5. I better see Eddie Munson alive. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.

Let the Right One In

I watched This movie last night, and I'm just not thrilled with it. It was a super slow burn, 🐌 🔥 and that's usually alright with me, but it was a burn into something that wasn't quite a bang.

It started off interestingly, and had me wanting to learn more, but halfway through I just got lost. Not in the story, but my attention started to just disappear.

By no means, though, do I believe that it wasn't good. It just wasn't good for me. I feel like it focused much more on the children "going steady" than it did with the child monster. I know that it was supposed to be a romance, but it just didn't work, in my opinion.

How is it a coming of age story when one of them will never age? Also, Oskar irritated the hell out of me. Like he was definitely a kid I wouldn't want to be friends with. He acted so dumb sometimes (specifically like when he was swimming and wouldn't close his GD mouth, like what kind of idiot swims that way? But also his nose was running through the entire movie and he just kept slurping it up like it was a treat. Sickening)

I didn't like the kid(s) at all. Just because I thought Oskar was annoying doesn't mean I think he deserved to be bullied the way he was, but I can definitely see why he was an outcast. I'm sure that's why he was depicted that way, but it just straight up pissed me off. As for Eli, she was a well meaning monster. At times. I think she just liked him because he was the only one sitting around doing nothing with her when her adult keeper? 🤷🏼‍♀️ was out murdering his neighbors and getting their blood.

I don't think Eli liked doing it, but when it came down to it, she was going to kill. Plain and simple. One of the neighbors gets attacked and eventually turned into a vampire without really knowing what happened. And when she caught on fire.... I was kind of reminded of an A24 type movie with how big and almost artistic the flame was. It was crazy!

And when the CGI cats attack, I kind of just loved how wild it was. Like I wasn't exactly ecstatic, but animals know what's up when there's evil in their presence

There were times I think, like other kinds of indie horror, that the artistic shot was the most important element followed by pushing things further along in the movie. Most of the scenes set in the classroom were like that to me. And between you and me, that little jerk bully kid deserved more than what Oskar did to him when he clipped his ear. And secretly, I'm glad the movie ended how it did.

Speaking of the ending though, Oskar was such an idiot to just willing go up to the bullies while they were on the side of the pool 🏊‍♂️ like none of them were wanting to get in and if he would treat water long enough for the coch to get back, I think he would have been fine. But he just lets the older brother hold him under. 🤷🏼‍♀️ D.U.M.B.

The kids eventually go off into the world and that's how we end the movie. Not knowing where and what happens when one child grows up and the other lives forever? I don't care how old that creature is, I wouldn't want to be a grown ass adult whose soul mate looks 12. In this day and age, it's probably worse to be seen like that than as a vampire.

My feelings toward it are 6/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It wasn't a bad movie at all it just wasn't what I like in vampire movies. It was good though!!

Would I watch it again? Maybe I a bit. Not any time soon though if I'm being honest.

Does it need a sequel/prequel? I wouldn't say need but I would see either or. I do wonder how Eli came to be or where they both went afterwards. Directors choice 😉

Would I recommend it? Yeah, it's definitely something worth watching. It's just slow and kind of long. But again, not bad at all!

The actual lyrics upon figuring it out were so much more stupid and hilarious than I could have imagined. Got many delightful yuks and spins out of this jam.

Make It Stop 2023

JD: It isn't even make it stop because it's over and there's no going back, but watching Travis Scott's "Circus Maximus" long form film was a fascinating study in the terminal stage of aesthetics that we're living through. Truly the most dispiriting experience of the TBH era.
