What are your thoughts on Amy Pond? Especially in the beginning of season 5 she reminds me of Rose quite a lot. Yet another very young woman, who almost immediately falls for the doctor/ is attracted to him. And similar to Rose she chooses to ignore the fact that she has a boyfriend/ fiance and decides to travel with the doctor instead. Plus she even tries to seduce him. For me it is a similar level of unhealthy obsession.
Also I’m still kinda mad, that the Doctor, when he first met the older Amy Pond in the first episode of the fifth season, didn’t made a comment like: “Oh another ginger.” or “I knew another redhead once…” Idk I’m not a writer, but including a phrase like this, which acknowledges Donna’s important role in the Doctor’s past, would have been the proper thing to do. (However it is likely that I missed such a comment. I’m currently on a rewatch, that doesn’t include all the episodes. So...) I mean they did it with Rose. Ten mentioned her a couple of times after she was gone.
I guess I’m just not a fan of the way characters, mainly female characters, were written during the time Moffat was showrunner.
You would have thought the Doctor would have made some comment about Amy/Amelia being ginger, but he didn't. Quite pointedly so. No doubt fans of Moffat will say the Doctor was too traumatised to mention his last companion; and I would have to agree to disagree with them. It was like Moffat was trying to paper over the previous DW years with thick wallpaper paste.
A few years ago Moffat said that he regretted having Amy try to kiss the Doctor on the eve of her wedding to Rory; but that didn't help because the damage was done long ago.
I only remember ONE reference to Donna throughout Eleven's series, and that was during the "guilt" scene where Donna's cardboard cutout appeared, after images of Rose and Marthe, caused him even more guilt. I also remember Moffat almost stomping over some iconic scenes featuring Donna; like River landing on top of Eleven when she jumped out a window and landed in the Tardis. He just didn't care about Donna, despite the excuse (conjured up by RTD?) used by Twelve for his choice of face.
Anyway, you asked about Amy Pond and what I initially thought of her. Well, I was excited to see the new companion, just like I've always been with Doctor Who, and was ready to love and adore her. I certainly felt that way about young Amelia. And then the policewoman in a miniskirt appeared as the older Amy, and my heart sank.
The choice of costume, job, and (I know I'll get stick for this opinion, but it was immensely offputting) the 'acting skill' displayed by Amy. In fact, my husband still refers to her as "that girl that can't act". I can take bad sets, and dodgy plotlines, but the inability to act turned me right off and I never bothered to see Amy as anything much beyond that. When they encountered The Hungry Earth in series 5, I desperately wanted Nasreen Chaudry to become the new companion instead. Okay, I cheered when Amy got swallowed by the ground because I found her whiny, uninterested and brattish. If it weren't for Rory, I'd have switched off totally.
Okay, the acting improved a bit in series 6, but my interest in Amy didn't. By that point my interest in Rose had long gone too, so I didn't try to compare the two. But I see what you mean. Definitely.

tw: bad flirting, mentions of being shot, slightly suggestive themes maybe, bad writing

“You look like shit.” “You’re awake.” The hero let out a watery laugh, watching the villain struggle to sit up, before giving up and letting themselves flop back onto the bed. “How very observant.” “How do you feel?” The villain hummed lightly, looking around the room. “Any reason you helped me?” “You asked. And, if I recall correctly, I asked you something.” “Didn’t expect you’d help me.” “Are you going to answer?”
The villain shook their head. “It’s a stupid question.” “Humor me.” “I feel absolutely wonderful, just about ready to finish taking over the world,” the villain said, sarcastic enthusiasm dripping off their voice. The hero let out an undetectable breath of relief, leaning back slightly in their chair. “You’re better enough then.”
“You’re already tiring of my company?” The villain asked, a perfect picture of mock-hurt. “Well—” “I promise I’m more fun when I’m not at risk of bleeding out… perhaps you’d like to see me then sometime?” “Villain.” “I mean, if you want me now, I’d love to—” “Villain.” “You already have me in your bed — I’d hate to stop you from finishing the job. Now, that would be a crim worth punishing.” The hero stared at the villain incredulously. “You were shot. Eight times. You barely survived, and now y—” “Then again, I might enjoy the punishment.”
The hero sighed, dropping their head in their hands. “Why couldn’t you just stay unconscious?” The villain grinned stupidly to themselves. “I take it I suck at flirting?” they asked, amusement evident in their voice. The hero raised their head slightly to look at the villain “Kind of.” “That’s not the only thing I—” “Villain.” “Okay, shutting up now.”

remember how in season 3 mike literally asks will whether he really thought that they were just gonna sit in his basement all day and play games for the rest of their lives… remember when in the same season he also asked will if he wanted to join another party and had the cheesiest smile on his face when will said that wasn’t possible.
now either mike wheeler really is the most oblivious boy there is for not understanding why will would make such a promise to him after confessing that he really imagined him and mike together for the rest of their lives… or… OR. mike is just going through some stuff and is in denial

Idk if I was blinded a little bit by mads mikkelsen or this is just an unpopular opinion. Hear me out: Tonny in pusher 2 isn’t a complete pile of garbage 🤷🏻‍♂️. Like I get that he spent most of the movie doing progressively bad shit but I don’t think some people are actually taking into account the gravity of his situation or how the circumstances of his environment has affected his life. Like im of the full understanding that most people have full control over their actions and should be held accountable. Like I said, Tonny made bad choices and did bad things. But there’s such an important topic in this film that I don’t see a ton of people talk about. He mentions to the mother of his child in one scene that the events of the first movie with frank left him with a traumatic brain injury and that it affects his memory. But (through mads’s acting choices) we see time and time again as he tries to prove himself to others, he has a difficult time thinking critically about his actions before he does them. This shows itself every time he tries to prove himself to his father. It shows everytime “the cunt” takes advantage of him and manipulates him into helping him. And even towards the end when he takes his son and runs. It even shows in tiny moments, like when he’s having a convo with the mother of his child and she tries to hand him off the baby to smoke a cigarette. He looks at her confused and she says “ take his legs”. For the most part, people know not to grab a baby by the legs. But he does it because he’s so focused on his own awkward nature that his brain tells him to grab the babies legs almost on autopilot. It’s only after she calls him stupid (as almost everyone else in the film has repeatedly called him as well) that he realizes he wasn’t actually suppose to grab the babies legs. There’s more instances where it’s made apparent that the general physical brain trauma and the trauma that has been built up by his father (which we can assume has been a long time thing) has caused issues for him in the long run. You could argue that his father was done with his sons antics, but based on the fact that his father owns what is basically a car theft business and also later asks that tonny be the one to kill his ex wife, it’s made evident that his father isn’t necessarily a good person either. Not to mention the fact that his father had no intention to feel even the slightest bit of compassion after tonny finds out about his own mother and repeatedly expresses how she was crazy and in turn, lumping her in as another reason for him to hate his own son. I see all the time people say “well I was raised in a similar fashion and I know better than to fuck up like that and do bad stuff like that”. And that’s fine. But your story and how you handle it doesn’t dictate how others do. Everyone is dealt a certain hand and has to use whatever skills are given to them to decide how they go about it. If your decision making skills are off and you have no support system, and you think everyone is a against you, how can you possibly heal or make things better for yourself. You can argue “but it’s fiction, it’s not a realistic scenario” and you’d be wrong. I know personally a couple of people in similar boats. Sometimes, the system isn’t set up for people. And sometimes they struggle their whole lives to figure it out. And sometimes they don’t. Most of all it’s genuinely depressing and sad. But that doesn’t mean that tonny didn’t have the ability to be a good person. Or that he was inherently a bad person. He was just a human in a state of making bad decisions and doing bad things. I think you see that in the way he treats the baby despite the hand the of his raising. He could easily decide to be a bad father, to neglect the baby at times. But really it’s the only time we see him genuinely gentle and at ease. He knows how it feels to be small and to have bigger beings in your face. They decide if you’re worthy of their time and affection. So he tries to make it a point to take on being a dad even if he’s not sure how.
