There was no random item vote this week because I decided to create an outfit inspired by someone who left us recently: Angela Lansbury. Because she is most by many as Mrs. Potts, I decided to create an outfit inspired by this character.

I selected the skirt as it contained all the colours found on Potts’ bottom part. Next, the top was chosen because it has this classic English feel to it, perfect for a good English woman like Mrs. Potts. The shoes and handbag represent the golden bottom rim and the golden handle of the teapot.

I chose the earrings as I thought they fit Mrs. Potts position as head of the kitchen. As for the headband, it is of a similar to the colour of the hat she wears as a teapot and as a human.

Now, because Angela Lansbury is more than Mrs Potts, I decided to honour two other roles she’s had (among many): Jessica Fletcher and Miss Eglantine Price (from Bedknobs and Broomsticks). First, if you saw my making-of reel and turned the sound on, you will have noticed that I used the theme of Murder, She Wrote. This was obviously my wink at her character of Jessica Fletcher. In fact, my first encounter with Lansbury was in Murder, She Wrote, not in Beauty and the Beast (being French-Canadian, I first watched that movie in French). That show is one of my comfort shows that I like rewatching every once in a while. Along with Columbo, she was my introduction into the world of mystery tv shows.

For Miss Eglantine Price, there’s the title, which is from the song “The Age of Not Believing”. While I was not familiar with the movie it came from as a kid, I had a box set of Disney song CDs which included that song, and I always found it soothing.

So long, Mrs. Lansbury. And thank you. For everything.

abby's secretly into cosplay but she won't admit it; manny's celebrity crush is sza; nora's a "no shoes in the house person" (she almost stabbed owen when he came over for a group get-together); mel's lowkey a disney adult and its adorable (her fav film is frozen); owen and jordan are both filmbros but in different ways - owen's the annoying kind (yk the kind 🙄) while jordan is genuinely passionate about films and film history and gives fun facts during movie nights; nick makes tiktok stitches like this one https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT88SYgkG/ ; leah's one of those drunk girls who hypes up other girls in bathrooms, like she'll see a pretty black girl with gold charms in her hair and start crying cuz she's so beautiful (abby & nora had to drag her out)

this is one of the cutest asks I've ever gotten oh my god? lemme expand on your beautiful thoughts. while I have beef with the salt lake crew, I also appreciate them and I think, had we started with them, we would have all loved or tolerated them.

abby + cosplay is so full of possibility omg. I imagine it started as an appreciation for cosplayers because she thought it was super cool! and then slowly. she started doing outfits inspired by her favorite characters. and then recreations. and then next thing she knows, she's dragging Manny to comic con to be her lil protector/buddy while she dresses up as Spiderman, or Junker Queen, or Samus. she has literally had craft nights where the crew helps her work on her cosplays. mel is the best at it, helping her form foam armor pieces. owen is passable only because he has experience building and fixing shit (the boat). Jordan is laughably bad any it but he tries <3

manny's celebrity crush is Sza AND Kali Uchis. He genuinely thinks he could pull them and, honestly, maybe he could. but abby loves telling him they're out of his league (they kinda are). he has like, Pete Davidson rizz. if that makes sense.

Nora is 100% a no shoes in the house girl. it's how she was raised! her house is fucking Pristine, man, which is honestly such feat because girly is a busy ass nursing student. and you're right about Owen! shit head wears shoes inside houses WITH CARPET. I will say rn, it's pretty much impossible to not wear shoes inside the house in my place bc we have two dogs, but we have tile so it's not as bad. however with carpet? evil. vile. Owen and his nasty ass nike sneakers tried to step onto Nora's pristine cream carpet and she nearly smacked him with a pair of tongs that had just came out of hot oil. as she should. he learned, and has never tried it again (mostly because Mel reminds him every time)

Disney adult Mel!! I know Disney adults get a lot of hate, but I feel like she'd be really sweet about it. like whenever she wants to go, she offers to pay for the others food and stuff, if they can't, she always brings them little gifts. like pins and stuff, shirts, ears, plushies!! she has a special pair of mickey ears that a frozen themed, Owen got them for her on her birthday <3 (this is me taking my powers as a writer to turn Owen into an actually good partner for Mel and not a piece of shit <3). one time, Mel got Abby to disneybound Gaston and it was so cute!! she has disneybounded as Anna and she looks so cute in it <3

the filmbros. oh god. Owen is 100% the type of guy to love Quentin Tarantino films and think they're the peak of cinema, all the while hating Jennifers Body. Jordan however, king, he loves Jennifer's Body and 100% listened to Leah and Nora spend like three hours talking about the nuances of girlhood and queerness in the movie. Definitely watched and appreciated Barbie with them, even dressed up in all pink! borrowed some of Leah's clothes to do it <3 he loves channels like Dead Meat, because I feel like he especially likes horror movies? will defend the slasher genre with his life, hates torture porn movies. big fan of sleepaway camp!

I don't know much about nick but I can say this is accurate, I feel like he also does those videos reacting to weird white people recipes? like how long does it take for them to add a block of cream cheese to the crock pot, or the weird obviously fetish content ones? and he just makes this really stoic disappointed face like. fr.

drunk girl Leah!! I imagine the salt lake crew occasionally goes clubbing, and you're so fucking right about Leah. they all get kinda tipsy, but Leah takes two shots of vodka and starts falling in love with every fem presenting person in the building. gives the good compliments too. how beautiful they look in the party lights, the shine of their hair, the twinkle of their eyes, the highlighter! the outfit! is literally fawning over every fem person she sees and Jordan is just like yeah go ahead. mostly because he knows she loyal and also, she's literally just so cute. disclaimer that it's never in the like, fetishizing wlw for men, Leah literally just compliments every girl she sees ever. especially in the bathrooms! if she sees you crying, she is the first one at your side, offering to beat up whoever made you sad, holding your hand, helping you fix your makeup, the works. drunk girl Leah is a gem to humanity and there are leagues of girls out there whose nights have been saved by this drunken sweetheart. there have been. too many times where abby has had to physically throw Leah over her shoulder to get her out of the bathroom because they need to Leave and she's starting conversations with everyone who walks through the door.

Voiceplay Visuals: Frozen 2 Medley

I really love Frozen 2 (i like it more than the original actually), the animation is great, and the soundtrack is 10/10 awesome, and Voiceplay's medley video for it is just as good! This video features Adriana Arellano, not just in her first appearance in a Voiceplay video, but her first video performance ever? And she was only 15 when this was released?? Man

This video was actually a Christmas Day upload for Voiceplay (for my timezone anyway) back in 2019, and it's a rare case of having 6 vocalists in a video instead of the average 5 (but it you're gonna do a Frozen Medley, you're almost definitely gonna need a female singer). But anyway, let's get into this!

So obviously Adriana is taking dual roles of both Anna and Elsa (in white pants and a cute periwinkle(?) top), Eli is "Disneybounding" as Olaf, Layne is being just a little bit Extra with his Sven outfit, and Earl, J, and Geoff are sharing the role of Kristoff (also Geoff in a scarf again, which he also wears in Baby Its Cold Outside, Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, and his cover of White Christmas (different scarves though))

Also neat background! I'm guessing this was filmed at Pattycake Productions, but the description doesn't say

Geoff (and Layne): "Okay Rude"

(Layne would've turned 39 in December that year, with Geoff having turned 39 a few months beforehand in August)

Geoff's hair by this point has reached the length/style that it's by and large stayed in since (though Wicked Game has me questioning if it's grown and subtly changed a little bit again)

Geoff: "Maybe you should leave all the romantic stuff to meeeeeee"

Adriana: "Oh brother"

(Also there's a video on Youtube featuring vocal ranges of different bass singers or something like that, featuring Avi Kaplan and Tim Foust and others I believe as well as Geoff, and the thumbnail has got pictures of them all from like performances and stuff, but for Geoff they used pretty much this picture 😂 Like damn why you gotta do him like that 🤣)

At first I was only pausing to see what Geoff was doing with his hands (air bass again? or some other air-instrument?) but uhh there's a lot going on in this picture 😂

Layne back at it again with the carrots! (Seriously him chopping and peeling carrots and using it as actual percussion/foley is honestly iconic and will never not be the funniest thing to me)

Making this post and looking for screencaps has really elevated the hilarity of this video for me honestly XD

Geoff has some lovely smiles in this video 💜 (I feel like I'm taking a lot of screencaps for this video already though, so you can go (re)watch the video yourself if you wanna see what I mean)

Saw Frozen onstage today... and I gotta say, I was impressed with the production. The story went places they couldn’t go in 90 minutes, Anna and Elsa had even more sibling vibes than they did in the film (the entire bit with the Duke of Weslton played out differently than it did in the film, but it was so much better because it was unadulterated sibling NONSENSE), the staging and effects were amazing, and they really did their research because they used the hidden folk, more properly called Huldólk, which is a part of the culture of the region in which Arendelle is heavily based. 

Is it perfect, no. Did I enjoy it, absolutely. And the cherry on top of the whole thing were the two Disneybounders (I’m using that term because while they were clearly Anna and Elsa, it was done much more in the style of a Disneybound than a cosplay) who had the most wholesome interaction I witnessed with a little girl dressed as Elsa after the show. As far as that little girl was concerned, they were Anna and Elsa and the Elsa Disneybounder completly gave the little girl an in character answer to a question she’d asked (something about magic I think, I don’t know what the question exactly was and I don’t remember the exact response) and I know it made that little girl’s entire day. 

Like that is why we go see this stuff, why we dress up in costumes... its for the stuff like that. Its for the kids who wholeheartedly believe, and I will not take that away from those kids because it is absolutely magical.

have you ever wanted to do an Anna cosplay? or any cosplay?

I've done an Anna Disneybound when seeing the first movie in theaters back in 2013, if that counts.

I don't cosplay anymore, but I used to cosplay during my teens (this was like 2009-2011), back when Kingdom Hearts was still my main thing. I sadly don't have my Xion cosplay anymore, but I definitely have a lot of fond memories going to cosplay meetings with my friends at the time.

One of my fave memories is still when me and like a dozen of other people in Kingdom Hearts cosplay got stuck in a giant snowstorm. We just tried to make the best of it.
