My new bestie. We’re sharing a plate of wild boar souvlaki. I’m told she doesn’t have a name, so I’m calling her Circe. Isn’t she bewitching?

We spent a beautiful day in an interior part of Greece yesterday - Delphi and Arachova.
It's about a 2.5 - 3 hour drive to get to Delphi from Athens, with some striking views of mountains, valleys, and lakes along the way. Delphi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the ancient Greeks believed it to be the centre of the world (legend is that Zeus sent two eagles east and west around the world and they met in Delphi). Delphi was dedicated to Apollo and an oracle (the Pythia) was housed in the temple of Apollo. People from around the world came to consult the oracle on many important decisions such as whether to start a war or establish a colony. The Pythia uttered unintelligible statements and the priests were the ones to 'translate', which were always vague statements which caused the questioner to determine for themselves the right answer. Eg a king asked Pythia if he should invade Persia. She replied, "If you make war on the Persians, you will destroy a great empire." - but it was his empire that ended up getting destroyed 😅. It's thought the oracle uttered unintelligible screams in a trance-like state as two geological fault lines meet under Apollo's temple, and it's possible the gases that rose put the oracle in a trance state, haha!
What's particular neat is that the oracle of Delphi essentially had a hand in all political decisions in the ancient world; our guide described her/them as the FBI and CIA of the ancient world as they saw the bigger picture due to all the information coming to them. Super cool!
Anyways, we saw the remains of the agora (market to buy things like your sacrificial goat), a reconstructed treasury (to store gifts), the temple of Apollo itself, a theatre, and the tholos at a sanctuary to Athena (the round structure).
Afterwards we spent some time in Arachova, a gorgeous mountain village literally on the side of a mountain which is a popular destination for wintersport. Think steep, cobbled, narrow roads, traditional architecture, and sweeping panoramic views. I loved it!

Wild boar in wine sauce with vegetables, served with French fries. Arachova GR 📍 @oistrosbyaktida 📱 ••• Ate at this cozy restaurant on a chilly day. Felt a bit out of place with the staring locals, but the service was kind enough. This hearty dish was tasty and perfect for the cold day. 🇬🇷 • • • #boar #lunch #fries #frenchfries #wildboar #arachova #greekfood #comfortfood #food #foodie #foodporn #foodstagram #foodphotography #vittlemonster #feedme #instafood #eater #nomnom #foodgasm #yummy #tasty (at Οίστρος by Aktida) https://www.instagram.com/p/CdTQuzaLmLR/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

This Christmas do not choose the village of Arachova in Greece for your vacation
A poor dog was taken, tortured and assaulted by a psycho and the entire village is trying to cover it up. Spread awareness and boycott their tourism! It's the only type of language they know!

5 Romantic Kdramas That Are Rich in Scenic Beauty
1. Descendants of The Sun
But what enhances the beauty of the drama and makes it eye-pleasing to us fans, is the scenic beauty of the filming locations. According to the media outlets the romantic kdrama was mostly shot in Zakynthos, Arachova, Lemnos, and Navagio.
The first parts of the drama were certainly shot in seoul. But as the story progresses captain Yoo Si Jin, played by Song Joon Ki, finds himself being posted in Iraq.
The location was decided to be at the margin of Balkan Peninsula, so that there is no diplomatic conflict with the iraqis.
The beauty of the filming locations catch the eyes of the viewers again and again. Be it the deserted hills or that mesmerizing beach with a wrecked ship resting lazily at the beach, you are bound to love it all. The filming location also plays a huge role in the story development, which is one of the features about this romantic kdrama I personally liked a lot.
And I believe you will like it too, if you have not already.
2. Hometown Cha Cha Cha
Just as the title of the romantic kdrama suggests, the main plot of this drama revolves around the hometown of the main male lead Chief Hong, played by Kim Seon Ho. The drama was filmed in Cheongha-myeon and Guryongpo of Pohang, Gyeongsangbuk-do.
Shin Min Ah plays the role of Yoon Hye Jin, a dentist, who relocates to Gongjin upon leaving her job in Seoul. Initially she finds it hard to adjust with the place and the people but as the story progresses, she falls in love with Gongjin and Chief Hong.

Which small towns in Greece do you believe are the most pretty?
Know with winter approaching i think more in this app need to know about how many picturesque villages we have that are worth visiting as much as the ones on the islands during summer.
Oh that's very hard to tell. The thing is winter / autumn is better for mountains and since Greece is rugged most everywhere, there are beautiful traditional villages and towns in many places. A list of particular towns would be subjective and certainly lacking but I can name general regions which have several such towns.
Epirus
Zagorohória, Ioannina. Zagorohoria is a group of 46 traditional stone villages in the Pindus mountains, between two national parks.
The town of Metsovo in Ioannina attracts a lot of winter tourism too.
The Athamanian mountains (Tzoumerka), shared between Arta and Ioannina regions, have many traditional villages, very pretty and remote.
Apart from the small towns, the cities of Ioannina and Arta are great destinations for that time of year too.

Thessaly
Mount Pelion, Magnesia is a great destination all year round because it forms a peninsula into the Aegean sea. It has both mountain and coastal villages. Obviously, this time of year the mountain ones become the hotspot. They are many and have a beautiful architecture unique to the mountain.
Trikala has a lot of traditional villages on the Pindus mountains such as the gorgeous Elati and Pertouli but there’s also the all year round winners, the towns of Kalambaka and Kastraki under the shadow of Meteora.

Peloponnese
Arcadia has some very beautiful mountain villages like Stemnitsa and Dimitsana, which are also rich in history.
Kalavryta in Achaea is a mountain town in a beautiful location with important history. It’s also close to a ski resort.
Regardless of its proximity to the sea, Monemvasia in Laconia is a wonderful town that can be enjoyed any time of the year. Of course it has a milder climate.

Sterea Hellas
Arachova, Boeotia is probably the most popular Greek town for winter tourism. However, there are many more smaller pretty villages in Boeotia and Phocis.
Evrytania is one of the most mountainous regions in Greece and has many suitable destinations, including its main city Karpenisi, the region capital with the highest altitude in the country. Several chalets there too.

Macedonia
Central and west Macedonia have many towns suitable for this time of year, like Samarina in Grevena, Naousa in Imathia. The most popular destination though must be Nympheo in Florina.
Mount Olympus in Pieria has beautiful towns like Litohoro and Palios Panteleimon.
Several relatively small cities are good for that period like Kastoria, Florina, Kozani, Edessa, Drama etc

Thrace
There are several villages in the Rhodope mountains that have special aesthetic and cultural interest. I believe also the main cities of Xanthi and Komotini to be great for colder weather.

Day 14!
After our tour of Delphi, we started a three hour drive to Athens. Along the way, we stopped for lunch at a local tavern, which offered many options. Some students went adventurous and had things such as rooster, beef tips, and lamb chops. After our quick stop for lunch, we drove through a small town called Arachova which was absolutely beautiful. The town is nestled in the mountains and boasts breathtaking views and a scenic overlook off the highway dedicated solely to taking in the beauty of the town. It consisted of several hundred buildings in similar styles, with orange tiled roofs and tan siding. We also learned that this is one of the few places where skiing is available in Greece. From there, we embarked on the three hour drive to Athens. We mostly slept during the trip, but some watched movies or listened to music. One thing that has been surprising is the groups collective appreciation for our bus driver, Vlassis. He has stayed with us for the past week or so, but since we are heading to the islands tomorrow, this was our last long trip with him. He has driven calmly and efficiently the whole time, and we are very appreciative of him, so much so that some students have even befriended him! Thanks Vlassis, we're going to miss you!
