🔺Ok Lu Da you know we have to ask: are you or have you at any point been in love with Ta Ming?
7/10. You have flustered the Pirate King.
He coughs in an attempt to mask the odd laugh that rises in his throat, dropping a grin to the table that tightens by degrees.
“I, uh...” It’s a rare picture, the pirate’s usually quick wit abandoning him as the words stumble to arrange themselves into something intelligible. Lu Da runs a hand through his mohawk, disheveling it further, as if the gesture might help him gather his thoughts.
“I care for her a hell of a lot, there’s no denying that,” he begins again, regaining some of his bearings. “Which is a little funny, ‘cause back at the start it’s fair to say neither of us wanted much to do with the other, or knew what to make of ‘em. I mean, oil and water, right? Who’d have thought we’d ever be friends, close friends at that—”
“Real close,” mutters Marik from where he leans cross-armed against the wall. Lu Da shoots him a brotherly look of shutuppery.
“It was well-earned, but we have a connection,” he continues, “mutual trust, we’ve been through a lot together, and I admire her, respect her. Ta Ming’s strong, unwaveringly loyal and disciplined, so fiercely self-sufficient. May take a lot to rile her, but she’s a woman you do not wanna cross—ask me how I know,” he adds.
His mouth crooks up wryly before softening again as he hesitates, brow furrowing.
“Sometimes, I catch myself thinking, what if we’d never met? Winding it all back in my head, all the pieces that had to line up, and if just one thing, one mistake, one choice had been different…”
A tenuous silence settles, punctuated by the drumming of the pirates fingers, his gaze anchored to the table.
“There’ve been moments,” he proceeds, as if stepping out onto ice, cautious, questing, “when it feels like... teetering on the top of a high cliff, when we’re together and I get this lurch and I know I’m looking at her too long, and the only reason I look away is so I don’t do something stupid and send us over the wrong edge. We’ve seen each other at our best, and our worst. She’s been there for me, seen the good and the bad, accepted it all, and never once has made me feel like I...” He pauses again, sighs through his nose. “All I know is she fascinates me, challenges me, and whenever I’m with her, having her at my side, it feels… right, somehow... like coming home.”
A curtain seems to lift in the parting of his lips, in his drifting gaze, a rawness when his voice emerges again, as if he has found himself holding something startling and precious. “Fuck, is this what it feels like to—”
Marik clears his throat, quick but quiet. "Cheers to your epiphany, I'd say you're the last one to know, but..." He nods his chin to somewhere close behind, where the air shifts, the previously closed door having sighed open to encroaching conversation.
Lu Da’s gaze snaps askance and back, the question low on his breath. “Do not tell me she’s…”
A furtive nod. “Just walked in.”
Amended: 10/10, a kaleidoscope of panic and co-morbidities flickering behind his eyes.
Lu Da almost risks a glimpse over his shoulder. Instead, he rubs his palms down his pants and leans forward, burly arms folding against the table. “She hear any of that?”
Marik shrugs. “Nothing Jhu Lin hasn't probably already implied.”
“Hilarious.”
The small wave of voices and laughter swells as they grow closer. He catches his nickname.
Shifting in his seat, Lu Da makes a discreet slicing motion in front of his throat with a drawn grin and mutters, “Uhh, yeah, next question.”
Send a △ and ask my character(s) a really invasive question.

May I entice the masses with the concept of a Will Wood Jukebox Musical?
Around a month ago me and a good friend of mine were listening to Will Wood’s discography and they offhandedly threw “Wouldn’t it be cool if someone made a Mama Mia equivalent with his songs?” into the air.
This thought stuck with me for a while until I found myself incredibly bored during a 3 hour-long road trip and decided to kill some time.
Preface aside, I present…
[ Welcome To Suburbia The Musical ]
↓↓↓
Brochure Designs:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Narrative Summary:
A young couple attempt to escape the hardships of life by moving to a far-off picture-perfect town known by locals as ‘Suburbia’. Despite it’s shining appearance, the couple are troubled by unsettling peculiarities bursting at the suburb’s seams- but what’s a village without a little cooky culture?
Tumblr media
Character Breakdown:
• James Campbell - An alcohol-dependent horror writer down on his publishing luck.
• Dai Lu Lee - A doctor specialising in the care of farm animals with an unfortunate talent for disappointing her parents.
• Cassie Logan - James & Dai Lu’s next door neighbour with an unsettling sense of humour.
• Morgan Logan - Cassie’s reserved wife working as a forensic investigator for the local PD with a predisposition to bad first impressions.
• Lin Lee - Dai Lu’s headstrong traditional father.
• Ming Lee - Dai Lu’s passive narcissistic mother.
• Mayor - Confident and charismatic front man of Suburbia with a messy past who’s always ready to offer a helping hand.
• Barkeeper - Eccentric and off-putting owner of a local bar that appears to be a front for a darker business.
• Therapist - Patient woman tending to Dai Lu’s psychiatrical and psychological needs.
• Secretary (Non-singing ensemble role) - Nerdy and shy assistant of The Mayor who is desperately enamoured, head-over-heels for her employer.
Tumblr media
Act Synopses:
[Act 1]
James and Dai Lu, freshly engaged and already exhausted from life’s baggage, strike a ‘too-good-to-be-true’ deal on a down payment for a quaint home in the unmarked town of Suburbia. After being warmly welcomed by the ever so charming Mayor and their next door neighbours Cassie and Morgan, the couple begin to unwillingly face some of their fatal flaws as Dai Lu is forced to stare her regretful decision making right in its ugly face.
[Act 2]
James may recognise his now hard-to-hide attachment to alcohol, but he is far from apologetic about it. Frequenting a newly discovered bar on the outskirts of town results in his fiancée finding herself in a rather unusual predicament. Forced to work for a sleazy underground cabaret bar, she preforms a number detailing The Mayor’s dark and unfortunate past. All the while, The Mayor himself is trying to seduce her partner into a life overflowing with sin and dubious spiritual ties. Upon being reunited through the brilliant detective work of Morgan, the couple have yet another handful of complicated feelings to sort through.
[Act 3]
Decades of pious work from The Mayor’s hands finally come to a head as he no longer attempts to hide his servitude to a being he was never quite sure how to please. The town descends into uncertain insanity as every individual is consumed by their corrosive and abandoned insecurities. Dai Lu never quite moves past her disagreements with her parents, James never quite makes peace with being an utterly unremarkable writer and Morgan never quite solves the case that’s been scratching at the back of her mind for years. All those lives are, however, lost in vain as The Mayor misinterprets his Patron’s asks. The town of Suburbia stands desolate, bare, and belonging to a man who’s greatest desire is to be rid of it’s burden.

Naturally there is a much larger and in depth plot summary, thought-out blocking for musical numbers and some in progress character designs that I have crammed into my Master Doc for this behemoth of an original work.
Keep in mind this concept is far from finalised, more characters may be added and more songs might be written into the narrative.
I’d be more than happy to go more in detail about it and accept any form of suggestions or feedback if the users of Tumblr happen to find this interesting :)
In the mean time, if you find yourself interested in this work and would like to listen to the songs in chronological order I have compiled a playlist you can find bellow… ↓↓↓

Am back! :D
Omg guys! Almost forgot I had this ((joking)) but nah seriously! It had been years since I've posted anything here! 💀
Anyways imma go back to my roots!! Y'all remember the days of Legend of Korra where I've only simped for Lin Beifong? 👀 But I've found a new lady, well not really but I've got a new love!!
So y'all remember (if not don't worry about it) the whole genderbent au thing I've created and it was female Tenzin and male Lin and stuff like that? Well I've got some stuff for y'all!
So first and foremost, this is Tenna. She is genderbent Tenzin (female Tenzin). She is literally so hot and I cannot stop drawing her! Currently working on the backstory and this will be nothing like tLoK, actually it will in some places but yes! A lot will be changed!
But look at her! She's gorgeous! 🥺 Also I just wanted to show y'all my improvement of art over the years! QwQ it has improved so much and I'm so proud! Anyways I'll stop rambling and let ya get to the photo!
Tenna: 55 years old
Tumblr media
Tenna in swimsuit enjoy 🗿
Tumblr media
Side note: Tell me this isn't the most Tenzin expression ever xD
Tumblr media
Anyways, my thoughts are simple. Make hot women. :D I am smooth brained and frankly I've been a simp for my genderbent Tenzin for years.
I wanted to update her concept instead of the one I've created years ago (plz forget that 💀) and frankly I love this version better. She looks kind, soft, hot, and first and foremost Tenzin-ish.
What I have for her so far:
She is 51-50 just like Tenzin in tLoK
She has one confirmed boy that I've come up with and one confirmed girl.
Their names are Jin (Jinora) and Ming (Meelo). I haven't come up with anything else for the kids as of yet.
She is pansexual. No discussion on this xD
She is currently in a relationship with Peng (Pema). But ma'am is known to wander around.
Tenna is also more in tune with her nomadic life style instead of the whole business stuff.
Tenna left RC at the ripe age of 16, leaving Ling (Lin) in the process but no hate. It was a mutual break up. Ling wanted to keep RC safe and promised Tenna that everything would still be up and running whenever she wanted to settle down.
Tenna fell in love with an air acolyte (whom I haven't decided to name as of yet) and stayed there for a year before the world called for her once more. It was a short but painful romance, one that Tenna often thinks about.
Once she was back on the road she fell in love with a non bender (Not Peng yet), got pregnant and went to RC for Air Temple Island. She stayed on the island for a few years raising her newborn son Jin.
Ling helped with all he could, being there for Tenna, taking care of her and feeding her and dealing with her grumpiness. He took care of her and once the baby was born, Ling knew he would protect the child as if he were the one to help make the baby.
Tenna couldn't have thanked Ling enough and felt horrible she was "holding him back" from finding his true love. Ling wanted to confess right then and there that he loved her but knew it wasn't the right time.
During the time of the whole pregnancy and the raising of Jin, Ling and Tenna fell into a romance. Stealing kisses, sharing deep secrets, touches that crossed the very thin line of friendship.
It wasn't until Jin started talking and walking that Tenna thought it would be a great time to start exploring the world. Jin barely being the age of 3 or 4. Ling confessed to her that he loves her and that she wished she'd stay for him but told her it was a selfish request. He instead kissed her goodbye and told her to look at the Northern Lights for her on one of her trips. Tenna never felt such sadness and sorrow but she promised to keep in touch. She watched as Ling got smaller and smaller as the boat began to leave the harbor and leave behind her very best friend and lover.
Sorry friends but this is where imma stop it before I bore you! Let me know if you want more Headcanons or if you want more art of this fine wine of a milf!
Send me asks, or ask simply in the comments or Dms about any of this au. I'm happy to reply and I'm excited to say that I'll be posting here regularly soon! And you know of course that there's gonna be more Lin Beifong art so prepare yourselves!
As usual, all art belongs to me. If reposted please credit. Thank you!

I'm gonna need kunning palace to give me a lot of the main otp in the last episodes, we have 8 left (this is why I don't f*ck with this 40 ep rule because now that we're getting the main relationship the show is over and everything that came before was also necessary). I'm gonna need to see how deep JXN's love for him becomes, I know people are obsessed with dedicated ML but I enjoy otps where it's more equal and I love seeing a female lead protect and support her otp the way he does her, even if it takes a while like in ming lan she had completely reasonable issues and took a while to warm up to him but when she did she was 1000% in and showed just how much she loved him, I personally don't appreciate unbalanced relationships where it's just one party sacrificing and being a lot more dedicated no matter the genders.
SPOILERS SPOILERS SPOILERS WARNING MAJOR SPOILERS
Hard to say, depends on how close they stay to the book. They've been quite faithful to the novel so far but at the point we are now is where I feel fairly confident that we're gonna diverge. Because in the novel the otp gets VERY dark before they get better. There's a reason why Xie Wei has been holding himself back & restraining his emotions. He's a whole mess of anxiety & PTSD and he has to work through his traumas. Both these characters have been a burningdog.gif meme and saying everything is just fiiiiiiiine but in the novel when they finally get alone on center stage together things get REAL because it's masks off. And underneath they are a whole mess.
imo the key to this pairing, and why we don't get a love confession from her until the very end, is what she thinks when she finally publically claims him (fittingly, she doesn't claim the lauded scholar but the unhinged figure that the public now finds monstrous):
Shen Zhiyi asked: "Ning Ning, do you know what kind of person he is?”
Jiang Xuening said, "I know."
This person forced her to kill in his previous life; even in this life, he still thought about taking her to die with him. He is definitely not a good person. How could she not know?
It can even be said that she knows better than anyone else. Because she has seen his truest and craziest side.
Shen Zhiyi asked again: "Do you like him?"
Jiang Xuening thought for a while and said, "I like him."
At this moment, Xie Wei's palm trembled slightly, but there seemed to be thousands of lights and shadows passing by in his mind, and finally there was nothing left, just staring at her blankly.
Yan Lin stood too far away, no one could see his blurred expression clearly.
Shen Zhiyi also didn't speak for a long time.
She didn't fully agree, she was afraid that her Ning Ning would be sad because of the wrong choice, but she couldn't stop her, and all her worries finally turned into one sentence: "Then you really know what you are doing now?"
Jiang Xuening smiled at her: "I understand."
And not only know what to do now, but also what to do in the future.
So calmly: "I want to marry him."
"..."
That night, he asked her once, but she didn't answer, so he never dared to ask again.
But now she says she wants to marry him. Xie Wei suddenly couldn't tell whether this was real or a dream: didn't she want to leave him and go find Zhang Zhe?
Jiang Xuening also saw that he didn't comprehend. "You are really, extremely smart, but you just don't like people."
Talking about love, this person is stupid to death.
I am too afraid of losing what I have, and I seem to think that what I have will eventually be lost, so I am paranoid, extreme, and I refuse to show weakness to others and say all those words.
Jiang Xuening felt that this person was too similar to her previous self.
There are some things that I don't understand, so I bash my head against it.
She blinked, with tears in her eyes, but took his hand, tiptoed to kiss his cool thin lips."
//
Part of the reason she feels so deeply for him is their deep down similarity, but the novel is Jiang Xuening's journey to love & accept herself, letting go of the pain & shame from the past. She doesn't reach this point until the end, where she recognizes and accepts her own darkness and thus his, and also believes it doesn't need to define their future. Everyone now thinks she is the saint and he's the sinner but she knows they are both.
The novel epilogue shows they are finding a peaceful life together, the urge to fight and claw at life and each other has finally passed. But though in the last 30% of the novel we get tons of couple-time, all the gestures of devotion are coming from him. She's not ready. I frankly have no idea how much the drama will change the last 30%, and it won't land the same cause I'm sure they have to tone down how scary the ML gets...but regardless I do think we won't get a confession until the last act.

Thunderbolt Fantasy ships, summarized
Lin Xue Ya/Shang Bu Huan - The inherent eroticism of fucking your narrative foil--simultaneously your opposite and complement. More importantly, it's about sexualizing that old man and annoying the hell of out him at the same time.
Lin Xue Ya/Sha Wu Sheng - These two have everything: history, chemistry, betrayal, graveyard drinking dates, and a promised rendezvous in the afterlife. Also, bird themes.
Lang Wu Yao/Shang Bu Huan - If "I would go to the ends of the earth for you AND kill anyone who looks at you funny" makes you feral, this is the ship for you. Bonus: Ling Ya as the sassy wingman.
Lang Wu Yao/Lin Xue Ya - The man who never talks and the man who can't stop talking. Rivals to hatesex to a threesome with Shang, what's not to like?
Lang Wu Yao/Mu Tiang Ming - Is there anything sexier than a duet to the death? I thought not.
Mu Tian Ming/Shang Bu Huan - Lang clearly thinks this is a thing, but IDK?? Make it a threesome and everybody wins.
Shang Bu Huan/Wan Jun Po - The Xi You Hot Dads Squad and old man yaoi at its finest. The inherent tragedy and drama of two morally upstanding people ultimately driven apart by whether the ends justify the means.
Dan Fei/Juan Can Yun - Canon. I'm not the first person to make this joke, but it's true: "She's everything. He's just Ken." Utterly adorable.
Dan Fei/Xing Hai - A cleric dedicated to fighting evil and a demon necromancer whose greatest wish is to crush humanity like a bug. A crackship with surprising potential. Please, tell me more!
Lin Xue Ya/Xing Hai - Technically canon in the light novels, where he tricked her into falling in love with him before humiliating her. No wonder she hates his guts--he's the ex-boyfriend from hell who shows up on her doorstep to ask for a favor.
Xing Hai/Juan Can Yun - This may have actually happened in S3 and neither party is happy about it.
Lou Zhen Jie/Seven Blasphemous Deaths - Another canon ship, this time between a nihilist ex-monk and his evil sword wife. I love that this show asks "Would you really love her if she was a worm a sexy demon lady?" and LZJ's response is "HELL NO". They deserve each other.
Lin Xue Ya/Xiao Kuang Jun - These two fucked at least once in S2, I don't make the rules. How else am I supposed to read Xiao pinning Lin to a bed followed by an immediate cut away, and him leading Lin around the countryside on a leash? There was motive and opportunity, and it's a punishment for both of them for wildly different reasons.
Lang Wu Yao/Xiao Kuang Jun - Remember, Xiao was the one to "discover" Lang and was his first patron at the Xi You court. Make what you will of this.
Lang Wu Yao/Chao Feng - Adding sex to their canon relationship would change almost nothing, but since when has the yandere murder princess ever cared about ethics and boundaries?
Lang Wu Yao/Xing Hai - A crackship for now, but you never know… they were last seen in each other's company.
Xie Ying Luo/Therapy - This woman is not ready for a relationship right now, she needs to find herself and make better life choices. Talking to Di Kong does NOT count!!

A sequel to the ‘most annoying guy TM in the Jianghu’ and ‘most annoying guy TM in the cdrama capital’ poll because I was specifically asked to include Ming Tai and honestly he deserves it
Propaganda of a sort under cut - also feel free to provide your own
Ming Tai: as a teenager (early 20s? unclear: Hu Ge is blatantly in his mid 30s but we're ignoring this because he's a good actor) and a baby brother raised by significantly older siblings, Ming Tai is the spoiled brat. He's also very good at being a competent spy when he needs to be, but that doesn't make him less annoying when he wants to be, which is always
Shang Xirui: of all the characters on here he's the only one I actually personally cannot stand, but that's partly because he sings opera and I have discovered through watching Winter Begonia that I do not like opera of any kind. But also he's insufferable and needs to get a grip on reality. Some things are more important than the show! Like FOOD! And the WAR!
Zhao Yunlan: SUCKING TOO HARD ON YOUR LOLLIPOP OH LOVE'S GONNA GET YA DOWN. Guardian was the first CDrama I saw and I actually don't remember what he did but I do remember that he liked to cause problems
Wen Kexing: Winner of the 'most annoying guy in the jianghu' poll, I don't think I really need to write propaganda about him but like. Has he considered a method of flirting that does not consist of stalking a random homeless man?
Wei Wuxian: 2nd in the jianghu poll. Everyone knows why he's annoying, I won't go into this any more than to say in the Cloud Recesses arc he distinctly reminds me of one of the most annoying people I have ever met in real life
Lin Chen: 3rd in the jianghu poll and my personal Favourite Guy. To paraphrase @nemainofthewater: 'if he was in it for any longer I wouldn't be able to stand him, but he's only there for long enough that it's actually charming'. Enjoys the fact that he's smarter than (almost) everyone else and likes to be obnoxious about it
Mei Changsu: came joint 1st in the 'most annoying guy in the cdrama capital' poll. Professional party ruiner, but he does try to only enjoy it when his political enemies are suffering. Gets to tag team with Lin Chen bc I don’t want them to split votes and also because between them they manage to annoy literally every character in the whole show
Fan Xian: joint 1st in the capital poll AND 4th in the jianghu poll because he is annoying all the time and everywhere. As a transmigrator he is (unfortunately) aware that he is the main character, causes problems on purpose
Zhao Yujin: 3rd the capital poll. I won't lie that this surprised me because I have seen one gifset total for this show on tumblr (the one that persuaded us to watch), but I guess for those who have seen it it is a legal requirement to vote for him because of literally everything he does ever. In his defence he fell in a pond as a child and then his overbearing mother babied him. That being said, he is an adult now
Huang Yaoshi: included because of @tavina-writes's extensive propaganda in the jianghu poll: my favourite part of it was "the OG torture flute soloist; his flute solo canonically sounds like sex, x-rated porn sounds"
Wu Xin: I missed him off the original jianghu poll, and also the whole point of the polls is for me to try and get people to watch my shows so there’s more fic and I’m not just here crying on my own. An overpowered gremlin boy. 'Would you like to get kidnapped?' 'no??' 'ok that's cool I'm kidnapping you anyway!'

li ming walks into their shared apartment. it's a bit late, but he'd already sent heart a warning text that he'd reached. who knew grocery lines could be so chaotic? he opens their door and steps inside, placing the grocery bags on the floor. he takes out his phone to text heart again, to tell him he's home.
(it's their signal, so there are no more broken stolen alcohol bottle incidents. heart makes sure to keep his phone on vibrate and li ming makes sure to text when he's out of sight)
he's about to hit send when he hears it.
a humming.
it's choppy, goes in and out of tune. sometimes too low sometimes a bit too loud. but the voice itself is musical, giving the tune the charm of a small wild wood, beautiful and untouched by rules. li ming pauses and approaches their kitchen.
heart is there in a cozy brown pullover and sweatpants. (he gets cold easy and god knows weather is moody these days). he has his back to li ming and li ming can smell home.
he's making chicken rice.
but that isn't li ming's focus right now. it's the humming.
he stills. heart may not be able to hear but it just heightens his other senses. hes quick to catch movements. so li ming stays, still, like watching a unicorn in the wild.
he isn't sure if heart knows he's doing it. the humming. there's no phone in sight and no machine could replicate heart's voice. tears jump to li ming's eyes unbidden. the tune is soft, sweet, and he realises it's familiar. it's the music from the Church. a tune heart hadn't heard but felt in his heart through vibrations and words signed.
li ming forgets his need to stay still and reaches up to wipe his eyes. his boyfriend, ever sharp, sees it and heart is turning around.
"𝘭𝘪 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨-" heart begins to sign and then stops. li ming smiles, and signs, "𝘩𝘦𝘺. 𝘐'𝘮 𝘩𝘰𝘮𝘦." he begins to move towards heart but pauses when heart puts his hands up, a look of consternation on his face.
"𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘥? 𝘪𝘴 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘬𝘢𝘺?"
he starts to fill a trickle of worry but waits. heart nods. and then he opens his mouth.
"l- li mi- ing!"
heart looks up and grins.
li ming freezes, jaw dropped, tear streaks drying on his face. yes, he's heard his name being spoken into fresh existence by heart before, no the feeling of finally loving his name never goes away each time he sees it's syllables followed by that starry smile.
"li ming!" heart repeats with a shy smile, cocking his head to the side, asking for a review. li ming unfreezes and ignores his tears that are dropping afresh.
"𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵! 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘴𝘰 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥!" he hopes his signing isn't as messy as he feels inside.
but heart isn't watching his hands, he's watching his face.
ah yes, he forgot he was crying with how much he was feeling. heart's brows furrow, his eyes wide and worried.
"𝘸𝘩𝘺 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘤𝘳𝘺𝘪𝘯𝘨? 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘩𝘶𝘳𝘵?" heart signs, as he approaches li ming.
li ming shakes his head. he smiles, even as the tears flow. he points to himself and makes his smile wider, so much so it crinckles his eyes.
"𝘐'𝘮 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘩𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘺"
heart pauses and considers him. then he nods and li ming has never felt so endeared.
heart smiles, eyes sparkling happily. he spreads his arms wide.
"𝘩𝘶𝘨?"
li ming chokes and laughs, shaking his head as he stumbles into heart's waiting arms.
he feels heart write something on his back.
"𝘪 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶."
li ming smiles.
into the skin that spreads over heart's pulse he mouths,
"𝘪 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰𝘰."
he snuggles further into heart happily and sighs when he feels giggles. the smell of chicken rices fills the little kitchen.
li ming is home.

Till the End of the Moon, Ep 33
If I thought the previous episode touched on the concept of choice, this episode really brought it to the forefront.
Tantai Jin remains logical. He knows that the Devil God is the one standing between him and Susu. Therefore he must eliminate him and to do that he needs to know more about him.
He goes to the Barren Abyss to seek out the demon twins.
Love the vaguely Gregorian Chant that we hear when the “Devil God” appears.
Smart of Tantai Jin to use his life as Ming Ye to try to extract information for Si Yong. She doesn’t realize that he was Min Ye.
Again with the NO CHOICE. Si Ying reiterates that Tantai Jin cannot resist the Devil Lord. He will become the Devil Lord and that’s that.
Weird though, how Si Ying does not sense he no longer has the Evil Bone.
LOOL at Susu’s father and Tantai Jin fighting it out. The Bo’re life is becoming more and more important to the story because again, Di Mian is surprised that Tantai Jin knows what happened 10,000 years ago. And once again - Di Mian is confident that Tantai Jin has no choice and will become the Devil Lord.
I love, LOVE this conversation by the lake.
He tells Susu that he will not become the Devil God. He understands her worries but the Devil God is not him. He also knows that she’s hiding something from him (Evil Bone).
The fact that she’s keeping his identity a secret for him means that she’s still protecting him and I think he gets that too.
I love that he is honest about him coming into contact with the Devil Crossbow and he doesn’t know how to extract it or what it will do.
Susu asks him if he’s recovered from his burns in the Nether River which again shows how much she loves him.
He asks to start over as Li Susu and Cang Jiumin - she doesn’t say no and deliberately leaves a door open.
Tantai Jin will decide who he will be. He is determined to have a CHOICE. He will not just be this empty vessel for the Devil God to take over.
Honestly, Susu is the catalyst for everything. If he had never met her, he probably would have become the Devil God quite easily given how miserable his life was. You can even see hints of it when he was with Susu 500 years ago. Loving Susu, and joining the Immortal Sect changed everything.
Can we also appreciate how much healthier Tantai Jin’s love is now? Is he willing to gouge his eye out to resurrect her? Yes. But he’s not quite as obsessed, he’s not spying on her, he’s not manipulative, he communicates and he gives her the space she needs (and the space he needs). He just handles everything with her better. I think it’s also because he has the Sect and Zhaoyou
Sigh. Bingchang’s true form Mo Nv is going to cause problems. It’s really not a bad idea what they plan to be honest.
Nian Baiyu and Tantai Jin back together again <3
I love this friendship and how Tantai Jin vouches for him. And he’s happy that Nian Baiyu is back. But Nian Baiyu... are you really betraying Tantai Jin?
Bingchang and Xiao Lin reuniting as Mo Nv and Jiwu?? If they have some sort of redemptive arc when Pian Ran is still dead I will be annoyed. Also, Jiwu your lantern sucks.
OMG I love this teasing, flirting and bickering between Tantai Jin and Susu. Susu is not even trying the Heartless Way.
I also love them working together to find the demon - even with Jiwu as the very definite third wheel.
The demon preys on Tantai Jin’s and Susu’s fears. But Tantai Jin breaks free because Susu is in danger and once again states his choice not to be the Devil Lord. Still, he believes that Susu fears him.
But Susu finally, finally has truly separated the Tanati Jin from the Devil God. She does not fear him. He is Tantai Jin, and he would never hurt her. She believes in him. I think that belief will help him reject the Devil God.
Tantai Jin is able to express what he fears the most - that he will be exposed in the immortal sec and that they will want to kill him. It shows just how important that sect has become to him. It’s his home.
Now if Susu will only explain that she has the Evil Bone.

The (long-ish) Review No One Needed Or Asked For ™ - Till The End of the Moon
Character-wise
Li Susu is our leading lady who travels back in time before the Devil God was, well, the Devil God and just the Devil Fetus *insert snickering here* because, "Maybe I can fix him and kill him." Morally ambiguous at times? Caught between feelings and justice? Sign me up.
Tantai Jin is the Devil Fetus *more snickering* who had it rough since Day 1. He literally came out the womb and it was that time. Pathetic hostage prince, manipulator, benevolent ruler, Wife Guy-- Cang Jiumin. My guys wears hats (wigs).
I'm a Susu apologist and to all you commenters who whined, Susu just love him and stop blah blah blah, No! She understood some of the assignment. Our characters are flawed, no one is perfect, (except one (1) Square and Vixen I said what I said) and you will be suing for emotional damages.
Plot-wise
We start off in real-time, where we see the Devil God (yassified) freaking wreck the 3 realms and 4 continents. Susu enters the fight with her weapon of choice (don't bring a harp to a knife fight) and is given the artifact that will make me overthink any timeline where time travel is involved. Before she goes back, she witnesses the death of everyone she loves very conveniently, because plot, die at the hands of the CGI crew (all of whom, might I add, deserve a raise).
500 years earlier, she is inserted into the body of Abuser, Ye Xiwu. Stockholm Syndrome or True Love? We don't know, but Tantai Jin (fetus) will somehow grow to love his wife (sidenote: he totally did something to himself peep episode 5/6 where that tree thing grows)(other side note, what's up with the continuous motif of tree and feelings? see: LBFAD).
I feel like the arc within an arc, though long and somewhat useful, could have been useful-er. I'm docking points for not nodding at plot thingies more for havimg lasted about 7 episodes but having 5 relevant points to the plot. Fight me. (Also, they fall in love in this lifetime but they're not them-- it's just continued contemplation of "why was I casted as x," when they can't freaking math and make it make sense).
Then after the Great Misunderstanding of episodes 24&25, we have to see our tragic love story be more tragic and wrap up this lifetime before we go Back to the Present (Future). If you haven't already, you will be cheering on our favorite Baddie being Badder.
Then we get stupid in the immortal rea-- housing development? Cang Jiumin is Tantai Jin in a different-ish wig pre yassification. He does more cultivating. He gets more hurt and scorn. He gets some action with his wife. He gets an outfit change.
The ending? I'm sobbing. I have been touched and I'm crying as I type this.
The Good, The Bad, The WTF
I liked that they were so enemies to lovers that I honestly did not see how they were going to ever be lovers. Good.
I liked our cast of characters-- brother Qingyu is the Square, Pian Ran is our favorite Vixen, Nian Baiyu needs a raise and Xiao Lin is Just Ken. Love it.
Episodes 36 and on-- the Bad.
Episode 39-- WTF. What made him think let's have this banging Goth Wedding so you'll hate me because, "I hate you." Yes, we are pseudo sleeping together in my Bo'Re Life because, "Susu you gotta hate me too," and when will the logic ever happen? I just think he needed to think through his justifications for his advancement of death more. Felt half baked imo.
And who made the rules? I thought when he absorbs the Devil God's Favorite Things and the evil bone *persistent snickering* then it was evil onsite? Last time I checked, Jin was still home.
Who decided Sang Jiu taking away Ming Ye's voice during The Sex was sexy (see: a dream within a dream)?!
Why did y'all embrace the freaking Lord of Evil when he's called The LORD of EVIL. Get me outta the simulation!
Shoutout
To the Viki comments section. Y'all was the best of all'em. From Naruto, to Death Note, Rolex and Nasa, and Team Rocket. I was rolling.
My Rating...
8/10 for Tantai Jin's outfits as Emperor and Devil God.
I like 'em bad.

Hi! i saw your thread on twitter about Chinese culture concerning danmei in spain. You mentioned that Chinese names often follow some sort of theme and usually have 1 or two characters per name, so I wanted to ask you if there was anything else to naming customs in China?
I’m trying to create a name for a character I have and I want it to be authentic as possible :,)) sorry if this is too much to ask!! <3
Hello! Hope you're having a lovely day!
There can be a lot of art in something as simple as a name in Chinese-- my knowledge is not exhaustive but I'm happy to talk about and share as much as I can!
Chinese names usually go by a 1 or 2 word surname, followed by a 1 or 2 word first name. Depending on the region, some minority groups may have names longer than that too (e.g. 迪丽热巴 迪力木拉提 Dilraba Dilmurat, 库都斯江·艾尼娃尔 Kudusjan Anivar) but we won’t talk about that.
Surnames:
Usually 1 or 2 characters long
The Top 20 most common single word Chinese surnames in mainland China (in order):
Wang, Li, Zhang, Liu, Chen, Yang, Huang, Sun, Zhao, Wu, Zhou, Xu, Ma, Zhu, Hu, Guo, He, Gao, Luo, Lin
The Top 7 most common multiple word Chinese surnames in mainland China (in order):
Ouyang, Shangguan, Huangfu, Linghu, Zhuge, Situ, Sima
Each surname has history behind it.
E.g. 王 Wang was actually the title used to refer to members of the royal family in ancient Chinese history. This includes calling the King "王" during the 3 kingdoms era, or calling a lord/prince "王爷" during the Qing dynasty for example. Therefore, the surname 王 was historically reserved for those in power and families of high social status.
E.g. two-word names potentially came from court titles
Naming customs include:
siblings having similar/matching names-- names of siblings or close relatives can be put together to achieve a deeper level of meaning. Sometimes even the names of family members through generations could be matching or similar, like with only 1 character difference
naming based on family symbols/motifs-- this refers to names associated with the town or birthplace, etc.
naming with particular meaning-- this is often derived from literature or poetry, the latter being a huge inspiration for names. Names can also describe the person's personality
Gendered names:
They do exist in Chinese. Certain characters with associated meanings may have gender connotations associated with them
It's all very stereotypical, but most commonly names with "feminine" words such as 美 (mei = beauty), 花 (hua = flower), 婷 (ting = gracefulness) are used for females, while "masculine" words like 力 (li = strength), 俊 (jun = handsome), 宏 (hong = grand) are used for males
Non-gendered/unisex names exist too. Words such as 明 (ming = bright),雨 (yu = rain),云 (yun = cloud),南 (nan = South),嘉 (jia = good, delightful) can sound unisex
Aside from this, also keep in mind:
The sound of the name plays a very significant role. A good name needs to flow when said aloud and have a nice ring to it.
A lot of names might sound "old fashioned" or "outdated"
Many Chinese words have the same pronunciation but different meanings, so it's important to make sure the name doesn't accidentally end up sounding like something it's not supposed to sound like e.g. 梅潜 (mei qian = pronounced the same as 没钱 which means no money)
I am currently writing a document detailing more cultural aspects including naming conventions, place names, customs and traditions, brief folklore and genres of Chinese fiction-- I go into a bit more detail in there. I'm gauging interest at the moment-- let me know if this would be of interest to you and I will endeavour to complete it sometime!!!
I hope this was helpful! Please feel free to ask me any more questions!

Movie Review: Marry My Dead Body (關於我和鬼變成家人的那件事)
Tumblr media
Source: Google Images
One day a police officer finds a red wedding envelope, only to find out that the owner is in fact a ghost asking for the officer's hand in marriage before reincarnation. What will happen when a human and a ghost form a special bond?

Funnier Than Expected
Watching Marry My Dead Body was a delightful fun time, I laughed more than I thought I would just because I never expected those scenes. Was is a good movie? It was okay. Personally, this felt more like a satire and you really just watch it for fun. Also, considering this was a crime film before it's a comedy film, there was no mystery or whatsoever with the plot. I simply cannot imagine anyone not seeing how the entire film plays out.
Going on to the cast, I don't watch a lot of Greg Hsu filmography but I am familiar with him and his works. Which is why, I was downright flabbergasted at Wu Ming Han; very impressed with Hsu's portrayal of Wu Ming Han. However, it was Austin Lin's acting that surprised me in the best way possible. Lin really brought Mao Mao all kinds of justice. I would say, watch the movie for Mao Mao, his character was extremely lovable and so very rich (in every sense except wealth but I digress). For the storyline, I would have hated it if Marry My Dead Body was a drama but Mao Mao alone could very possibly make the nonexistent drama fun. I went into the movie for the marriage plot and came out absolutely loving Mao Mao without caring about anything else.
That being said, I also think a big reason of why I enjoyed this film was also because I am both familiar with the language and the culture. I have a feeling, one who's not as familiar might not find this film as comedic as me.
Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3.5/5)

I'm sorry. I know this is a cursed idea, but
...what if the Devil God was an actual amateur writer?
"I've heard that humans like to tell stories to each other, so I'll make one too.
"There will one day be a devil fetus, and his name will be Mr Emperor Prince Tantai Jin Cang Jiumin Raven Way. He will have black eyes like limpid tears, and everyone will ask if he's related to Ming Ye.
"He's an orphan, but also a prince, and also can't love anyone and has never been truly loved by anyone ever in his whole life.
"The other day it was raining and snowing and Xiao Lin asked Tantai Jin why he was kneeling on the ice.
"He spit up blood at him."

WIP Folder Files
Rules: post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet or tell them something about it! and then tag as many people as you have WIPs.
I was tagged by both @eirenical and thought that this might be a good way to get me to start engaging with fandom again. Please do ask me about them; some are even completely written and are just sitting there on my computer!
Sleuth of the Ming Dynasty (which I've never written for but am very tempted by): 1) I Believe
