I'm gonna need kunning palace to give me a lot of the main otp in the last episodes, we have 8 left (this is why I don't f*ck with this 40 ep rule because now that we're getting the main relationship the show is over and everything that came before was also necessary). I'm gonna need to see how deep JXN's love for him becomes, I know people are obsessed with dedicated ML but I enjoy otps where it's more equal and I love seeing a female lead protect and support her otp the way he does her, even if it takes a while like in ming lan she had completely reasonable issues and took a while to warm up to him but when she did she was 1000% in and showed just how much she loved him, I personally don't appreciate unbalanced relationships where it's just one party sacrificing and being a lot more dedicated no matter the genders.

Hard to say, depends on how close they stay to the book. They've been quite faithful to the novel so far but at the point we are now is where I feel fairly confident that we're gonna diverge. Because in the novel the otp gets VERY dark before they get better. There's a reason why Xie Wei has been holding himself back & restraining his emotions. He's a whole mess of anxiety & PTSD and he has to work through his traumas. Both these characters have been a burningdog.gif meme and saying everything is just fiiiiiiiine but in the novel when they finally get alone on center stage together things get REAL because it's masks off. And underneath they are a whole mess.

imo the key to this pairing, and why we don't get a love confession from her until the very end, is what she thinks when she finally publically claims him (fittingly, she doesn't claim the lauded scholar but the unhinged figure that the public now finds monstrous):

Jiang Xuening said, "I know."

This person forced her to kill in his previous life; even in this life, he still thought about taking her to die with him. He is definitely not a good person. How could she not know?

It can even be said that she knows better than anyone else. Because she has seen his truest and craziest side.

Shen Zhiyi asked again: "Do you like him?"

Jiang Xuening thought for a while and said, "I like him."

At this moment, Xie Wei's palm trembled slightly, but there seemed to be thousands of lights and shadows passing by in his mind, and finally there was nothing left, just staring at her blankly.

Yan Lin stood too far away, no one could see his blurred expression clearly.

Shen Zhiyi also didn't speak for a long time.

She didn't fully agree, she was afraid that her Ning Ning would be sad because of the wrong choice, but she couldn't stop her, and all her worries finally turned into one sentence: "Then you really know what you are doing now?"

Part of the reason she feels so deeply for him is their deep down similarity, but the novel is Jiang Xuening's journey to love & accept herself, letting go of the pain & shame from the past. She doesn't reach this point until the end, where she recognizes and accepts her own darkness and thus his, and also believes it doesn't need to define their future. Everyone now thinks she is the saint and he's the sinner but she knows they are both.

The novel epilogue shows they are finding a peaceful life together, the urge to fight and claw at life and each other has finally passed. But though in the last 30% of the novel we get tons of couple-time, all the gestures of devotion are coming from him. She's not ready. I frankly have no idea how much the drama will change the last 30%, and it won't land the same cause I'm sure they have to tone down how scary the ML gets...but regardless I do think we won't get a confession until the last act.

But like reader who is just,, incredibly shy? Like in social situations they put up a front and you would never expect them to be shy because theyre very present and speak up often despite almost blending in the background when quiet. But its a whole other story at home and such?

to be completely honest, he can't stand when you sleep like that. he stares at you from his side of the bed where you lay finally at peace, and can never quite bring himself to disturb you, but a part of him wishes that you would find a position that doesn't hurt your back so much to wake up in. he understands that that's difficult, though.

curled in on yourself in a tight ball like you're an overgrown house cat seems to be the other way you can hope to sleep lately, complaining that you're uncomfortable any other way through no fault of your own. in a perfect world he can pluck your little issue right out of existence, vanish it away to a dark corner to never again be found, letting you have the most blissful refreshing sleep you've ever had however this is not a perfect world and thus he is forced to watch you toss and turn through the night.

truly Pantalone has found at least one thing he can confidently say he finds himself to be abysmal at. he makes you a cup of tea before bed, though not an uncommon action. he hears this particular blend can help with sleeping troubles, expensive as it may be imported from Snezhnaya's polar opposite Natlan, requiring certain shipping conditions. it's hardly enough to inconvenience him however, recalling how he almost asked "Is that all?" like it was pocket change. it seems to at least relax you, and you enjoy the taste, so he continues to purchase it regularly.

he's found you sleep best when you lay by his side, pampered by those delicate hands that stroke your forehead and lull you to sleep if a little slowly. his affections are not nearly as slow as trying to do it alone, pulling you close until you're snug up against him, and his head tries to situate your head onto his chest. your struggles must lessen, and his arm around you has helped, he's seen so.

he cannot find another way to comfort you, almost nothing that money can buy besides medicine he keeps pestering a certain doctor to make, so he provides you with time, affection, gentle actions meant to soothe you as he strokes your forehead, rubs his thumb against your temple. all of this provided to you while you lay your head against his arm. tonight is slightly different as you lay your head on his chest attempting to find a comfortable spot while he reads a book to you which he thought you might enjoy.

Pantalone believes you to be paying the utmost attention, his arm around you holding the book open. that is until his forearm accidentally knocks your head turning a page, and his most profuse apologies are met with...silence?

"Darling?" he questions, wondering if you were hurt--he's not sure how that could happen with such a light bump--but he awkwardly lifts his head to find you don't move to get up as you might've if you thought he was getting up you're completely still. you couldn't possibly be... no, not a chance after all that effort and research a book put you to sleep? he either had the most boring taste or had accidentally stumbled upon the cure to your little conundrum.

the next morning Pantalone is well out of bed by the time you awake, a usual occurrence as he sits dressed for work with one last cup of tea piping hot at his side.

"Good morning." you say as you rub your eyes, noticing he's reading the book from last night.

he glances up from his book to flash a smile at you, "Good morning, darling." he says, unusually pleased for some reason-- seemingly also straight to the point as he asks "Are my book recommendations truly so boring they make you fall asleep or do you just like being read to sleep?"

"Oh, well..." now that you think about it, you don't actually recall anything from the book, only knowing that Pantalone was reading it to you. you can remember the way the words sounded, melding together in your head and hardly discernible into actual sentences. perhaps you did like being read to sleep. "I couldn't say how boring your books are, but maybe someone's a better reader than he thought~."

you lean down to kiss his cheek, promptly wandering off to get yourself a cup of that tea he made. perhaps he'll have to read to you more often...

you find yourself waking up in the middle of the night a lot lately, startled awake, disoriented and a little scared. tonight is no different as you awake to an expectedly empty bed, unsurprised when you see nothing there on the other side. there is no sign of Capitano yet, out on a mission somewhere just as he said he would be. you're not mad he's gone, just a little lonely, worrying that something would happen to him.

you climb out of bed and resort to your new coping mechanism. without the real Capitano, you simply must convince yourself he is there in some way. thus, you make your way to your shared closet and look for a shirt he wore semi-recently. you manage to find one he changes into when he gets home and wants to relax, softer than armour for you to lean on when you lay your head on his chest to drift off to sleep while he plays with your hair.

you're glad for something with a happier association, something which you can cling to even while he's gone. his shirt is a catalyst for that, carrying his scent, though you have nothing to hold in his absence, if maybe a pillow unfortunate enough to find itself cuddled up to your chest.

despite yourself you almost feel as if the roles have reversed, almost never the bigger of your pair, though you have always cuddled up to him, arms awkwardly wrapped around him.

you awake to another of his letters, seemingly his response to your telling him about your troubles falling asleep, laying awake restless and increasingly tired though still unable to find solace in a good night's rest. it is delivered personally to your hands by a fatuu as all of his letters have been, ensuring their safe travel to you, as well as ensuring there's someone's head to be had if they don't. in their other arm a large teddy bear is tucked away, though not immediately presented to you causing you to almost walk off.

"Ah-- This also arrived for you!" you spin yourself back around to meet the mask face of a fatuu holding a teddy bear out to you, almost a funny sight and you crack a smile. "Also from Lord Capitano." they add.

Uh...ok that's a little strange.

you take your new friend, soft and fuzzy, a bow tied around its neck sewn into the fabric. it's strangely cute, though you're not exactly sure how he was able to acquire such a thing from all the way out in Natlan. it couldn't have possibly been from there, at least you don't think so at a glance...

you reacquire the letter which had been placed down on the table, reading it over carefully. the further you read the more your smile grows, though unconsciously. you quickly uncover the origin of this bear that suddenly fell into your possession. it is from Natlan, from Capitano. his name is Cap. you just cannot fathom where he managed to pull such a creative name from. it has you giggling to yourself.

"Cap." you pick the bear up in your hands, holding it up to admire it, "Didn't he pick such a cute name out for you?" the longer you stare, though adorable, the more this bear seems to be missing something. he bears his name, his likeness if you consider that Capitano is really just a big soft teddy bear in strong armour-- ah right, this bear was missing something. though he is to be your new bed buddy, he lacks a certain...quality.

obviously you cannot dress him in armour. no, that's far too hard for you to lay your head on. however Capitano's much softer Fatui-issued fur-lined coat would make a cute little outfit for him. the first problem you find is that Capitano is currently in possession of said coat, the second is that despite the bear being on the larger side Capitano's coat would still be too large for him, possibly too bulky as well.

all in one Cap is providing you with solutions to your daytime boredom and your night-time troubles. sewing Cap a little coat would be just the perfect thing to fill your time.

a couple months and a late night of reports and paperwork and finally the trek home feels like bliss, walking the familiar path to the place that will finally again feel like home. Capitano doesn't dare leave headquarters without changing, not only for his own comfort after spending so long stuck in that armour and so that it's not so noisy when he arrives home and sneaks through the door.

the house is dark, expectedly so due to you likely not expecting him, it's only by the faint glow of golden light that emanates from your shared bedroom that he thinks for a moment you might still be awake.

ducking his head in reveals that to be false, you just must've fallen asleep with a candle lit again, though the sight easily makes up for that. as it turns out, Capitano found you the perfect gift, wrapped tightly in your arms, your cheek pressed into the fabric and your breathing steady and calm. he's about to turn away, deciding he'll come back to it once he's dealt with his things and is ready for bed, but something catches his eye—a tuft of black fur that tickles your face.

his face contorts in confusion, vividly recalling the bear's fur did not have a texture like that, but then it clicks when he realises the white next to your arm and the silhouette becomes clearer in his mind. you made him a jacket. he almost breaks down laughing over how ridiculously cute that is, but quickly covers his mouth so as to not wake you.

he's glad you like your little gift to cuddle in his stead.

working nights always go the same, as you've long retired for the night and gone to bed, Pierro remains awake managing his duties long into the night. coincidentally, this arrangement happens to work out well for you and your awful nightmares that will strike at any given moment.

you awake to an empty bed, guessing that it must be a busy night. it's not a bother, but you're not sure whether you'll be able to go back to sleep yet. you're a bit shaken from your dreams, needing to go and find Pierro to see what he's doing. you know he's only fulfilling bureaucratic duties, not in any actual danger, but you need to see him to ease your mind and know he's fine.

expectedly he's hunched over his desk, lost in his work as you suppose is usual at this hour. he doesn't immediately notice you, engrossed in the task at hand, but one creak of a floorboard as you make your way to him is enough for him to look up and find you at his side staring down at him.

"It happened again?" he breaks the silence already knowing why you're here, and you nod in response, a silent confirmation.

"It wasn't as bad as before, but..." you trail off for some reason, playing with your fingers trying to find the words to describe, "I don't know, I just thought-- I wanted to come see you because you weren't there." you finally get it out, though not quite as you intended. it's hard to communicate the feeling, like even though you knew nothing could've possibly happened something felt wrong.

you feel silly confessing it, like it was something wrong with you and yet he barely raises an eyebrow in protest or question of it.

"Even while you sleep, I still worry you." he says, his hand finding your waist to pull you closer.

"No, no it's not you." you try to say, trying to assure him that maybe if you were just stronger you wouldn't be so worried, your own mind to blame. "I knew what I was doing getting into this." you add.

he shuffles his chair back to make space between him and the desk, patting his thigh to usher you onto his lap, into his arms. you fit so perfectly, feel so safe, like you can melt into his body with the warmth he provides you. leaning your head against his shoulder, getting comfortable burying your face into the crook of his neck.

"Make yourself comfortable and go back to sleep, love." Pierro's hand settles on your head, holding you there, arm around you. vaguely in your ear you can make out a rhythmic thud, almost as if you hear his heart pumping in his chest. that's a nice sound. it's gentle enough it doesn't bother you, outs you at ease in fact as if a reminder he's there. you know he's there, but something about it just...helps.

"How much longer until you come to bed?" you ask, fully expecting him to give you the realistic answer that he doesn't know, and really he probably wouldn't.

he pauses, a deep breath following that you feel as Pierro's chest rises and falls once again, he then sets his pen aside, though mid sentence and clearly not even close to finished. Pierro once again shuffles his chair back, making enough space for his now free hand to come up beneath you to support you as he stands, bringing you with him now cradled in his arms.

he smiles down at you gently, and you're convinced he'd run a hand through your hair to tuck it away behind your ear if only his hand was free. you know he likes that, a little token of affection. "Let's go to bed now, and I'll finish this later." he says. you think you could've lived with sleeping in his lap for a night, though admittedly you like this arrangement a lot better.

you allow him to lay you back down, pulling the covers over you and leaving you to adjust them a bit while you wait, though when his back turns you shuffle your way over to the other side of the bed somehow hoping he won't notice you tucked up on his side. to your favour he doesn't for a while, though he's preoccupied with tugging his shirt over his head not exactly paying the most attention, not until he turns around does he notice a certain someone has taken over his spot.

"Oh? I didn't realise I was only getting this much bed. You don't leave very much room for me at all do you?" of course he'd play along when you make a face like you're trying not to giggle, though that promptly fails as he decides he's going to get you out by actually trying to fit, actually meaning he's about to sit on you and there's not a chance in hell the tiny sliver of bed is enough for anyone.

in seconds you're rolling over bursting out laughing to escape, though Pierro pulls you back kicking and squealing to kiss your cheek and try to settle you again before you rile yourself up. your antics are usually endearing, but seated on the edge of the bed having to turn himself to meet you halfway, he finds a little kiss on the lips is enough to get you back to your much calmer self.

"Do you want to sleep on my side?" he asks

"I want to listen to your heartbeat." you respond, leaning yourself forward in some attempt to-- rather uncomfortably-- press your head to his chest. "I like it."

"You can listen for as long as you like, as long as you calm down so you can go to sleep. It's late."

eventually he finds a spot in the middle of the bed, and you find that laying on him is far more comfortable, as well as ensuring that there's no way he can sneak off once you fall asleep to go back to his work. Pierro will be staying right where you hold him in place, head laying back on his chest where you can hear his heartbeat clearly. you were right, you do like it.

you are always afraid of losing him, you always have been, you don't think there will be a day when you're not. just as badly he is afraid of losing you, irrationally so as he has learned nothing is permanent. even peaceful moments like this can be reduced to ash in the blink of an eye, so he must cherish them. he must cherish you.

Pierro is more than happy to cuddle you this way if that's what you want, because really he wants it too.

techno: english (with 1 mythology class for seniors): - hates his english classes wishes he could just teach mythology - would make all the students do a little project on a greek mythology story - rivalry with mr soot  - “ill give u each 10 dollars if u go to mr soots class tmrw talkin about how im a better teacher” - supports each and every kid no matter WHAT even if its not english related - holds detention in his room cause no one wants to fuck with him - like dream he doesnt anyone to get fucked over his english class so he hosts after school office hours like its college - has read all the classic novels and makes his classes read them. he wont move to something else unless some kid IS REALLY passionate about it - “ranboo we will not be reading the diary of a wimpy kid series even if you resonate with greg heffley on an emotional level” - BUT for his english classes he makes them do a general book report project so he can see and appreciate his student’s taste in books  - albeit not the biggest fan of romance novels but knows it ends with us for some reason - brings all the projects home and keeps them in a big storage bin. he loves showing them off to future classes and even you - light. acadmeia. dresses formal, long sleeves, hair tamed, glasses on the bridge of his nose - “tommy please stop swearing. tubbo calm down?” - hold detention with him cause no one fucks with mr blade

phil: principal - best principal ever - has a great relationship with all the staff tbh  - wilbur and techno and tommy arent his sons wdym - no ones rlly scared of getting sent to the principals cause like yk theyre like “oh phil??? hes nice”  - everyone calls him phil - ok i lied everyone BUT tommy isnt scared of going to phils - “I DONT WANT TO GO TO PHILS” “tommy calm down-” - hates the school board, lets the teachers teach what they believe is best for the students - can deal with the consequences - once wilbur got him to play a role in on of the school’s productions - big year for the dsmp high thespians tbh - is married to the guidance counselor kristin - who by the way is a GOOD COUNSELOR - actually does guidance - phils whole office is green - always wears his bucket hat tbh - besties with the other school’s principals

foolish: architecture/woodworking - i think this one was another “duhhh” one - builder man teaches builder children - starts the year with teaching them the basics of everything and then sort of lets them go wild  - is so scared some kid is gonna get hurt - has goggles in every corner of his room, gloves, whatever safety stuff  - loves it when kids work together to make some big project - IN YOUR GUYS’ HOME YOU HAVE A SHELF full of little sharks all the kids made for him its so cute - he makes stuff for you in class and uses it as an excuse to teach  - wears muscle t-s or normal t-shirts never dresses formal  - “it would get in the way of the wood?? duh” - id want to be in his class - is besties with mr jacobs and mr punz the random coach who shows up just to coach basketball in the winter - another teacher everyone simps over - once refused to teach tommy cause he didnt want to “catch a case”

i kinda want to write for the bench trio so here’s STUDENT EDITION

tommy: junior in high school, ta to mr wastakens math class  - tommy signed up to TA for wilbur but then wilbur said “absolutely not” so he got put into dream’s introduction to stats class  - but he also has dream for the period after that for his ap stats class - so hes stuck there for like 2 and a half hours  - dream groaned when he saw who his TA was - makes tommy grade papers and stuff but never tests  - he doesnt trust him with that - tommy is a good kid and usually doesnt disrupt class but when he does its hilarious - expect mr blade doesnt give a second shit about tommy in his class  - tommy is rlly good at drama and math (even though hed never admit hes good at math)  - his locker is a mess  - besties with tubs and ranboo ofc - phil is his father dont tell anyone - he is so adamant on walking home bc he doesnt want people to know that his family works there - always has his red jacket on  - never gets school lunches says they are cursed

tubbo: junior in high school, ta for mr quackity’s spanish class - tubbo likes quackity so he signed up to ta for his class - he isnt good at spanish tho- - quackity knows that but likes tubbo so he lets him be  - sapnap ADORES tubbo for some reason - “TOBY!!! WHATS UP!” “hi mr sapnap” - sapnap thinks tubbo is such a good kid - but  - mr notfound knows tubbo is a menace - “good morning toby” “good morning mr notfound *innocent*” “sit down and get started please” - SO FUNNY LMAO  - tubbo is a menace - pulls a bunch of pranks on the teachers but then the blame always ends on tommy somehow “wHAT- TUBBO DID IT” “no he didnt” - besties with tommy and ranboo ofc - tubbo is rlly good at science but isnt so hot at english - but mr blade is rlly nice and takes him time to help tubbo  - tubbo appreciates it so he gets mr blade a gift at christmas - mr blade teared up - runs thru the hall dragging tom and ranboo behind him no regrets - “STOP RUNNING THROUGH THE HALLS” “no” ranboo: junior in high school, ta for mr blades mythology class - lOVES ta-ing for mr blades class - mr blade kinda lets him chill in the back, stapling papers - no interaction whatsoever - he also now cant wait to take that class next year - mr blade refers to him as my protege a lot  - i hope i used that word right - besties with tommy and tubbo - all the teachers are nice to ranboo and kinda sorry that hes friends with tommy and tubbo LMFAO  - “hi ranboo u doing ok” “yes thank u mr jacobs” “RANBOO! LETS GO! PUDDING DAY IN THE CAFETERIA” “thats my cue mr jacobs” - ranboo usually doesnt get into trouble when he does oh boy its good - not pranks on teachers but school wide pranks - is shy but when someone picks on tommy and tubbo he GOES OFF - attacks them through words - when he gets comfortable in a class he lets out these small comments that get the whole room laughing - so not the class clown but people know hes funny and people respects him

so, on many days he finds himself cooking for you, twitching with excitement for what you'll say to him. every time it's done up to your standards, and he stares you down with each bite, until he hears the simple words, "taste good." and he's gulping, pretending that he is not vibrating with joy.

on others, you dump it on the floor, just to see his reaction. the way his eyes travel to the floor, wide in confusion. the way you push him to his knees with a stern, "it's gross. you eat it."

it makes him frantic because you liked it last week. he didn't change the recipe, why do you not like it? everything was the exact same. "but I— "

second of all, i’ve been here for almost three years so i hope i have some good tips to share 😔 they are below the cut !!

everything on this list is targeted at gaining traction with likes and reblogs rather than focusing on your writing!! pls keep that in mind ;o

1. blog layouts and post layouts.

generally speaking, if a reader is scrolling through the tags, the first impression they get of your fic is how neatly it is laid out. a more aesthetically pleasing layout is always going to capture someone’s attention, regardless of the story.

take a scroll through the tags and maybe find inspiration (don’t steal layouts!) as to how some writers have arranged theirs. normally it incorporates a cute banner/picture with a/n’s or warnings.

also, this may just be personal taste, but don’t post your fic in small text. small text fics are the ones i get turned off the most because i… don’t want my eyes to hurt 😔😔 simple as that 😔😔 even if the synopsis sounds great, i want to see your story in full, not in tiny!!

2. write broader and more cliché tropes at first

i just wanted to reiterate again, this post is not to help you improve your writing quality (bc mine is still ass lol). from when i was still starting out on tumblr and trying to get a following, i think i focused quite a bit on writing tropes that i know everyone will enjoy.

these generally are like the cliché ones, like hurt/comfort, sleeping on the couch, being clingy or whatever, just fluffy stories that you find everywhere.

for example, in 2021, i wrote jujutsu kaisen headcanons of you sleeping on the couch and like… that fic is still getting notes to this day (to my chagrin). so the more cliché, or fluffier, the stories you write, the better.

(MINORS LOOK AWAY, as an sfw writer, i wont sit here and act like people don’t enjoy nsfw though, so if you’re capable of doing so AND OF AGE, then why not try your hand 🤣🤣)

3. long fics and stories that take a lot of effort

despite how many short blurbs you may see in the tags on tumblr, a lot of people do enjoy long fics (me included!). people love their long fics with classic tropes interwoven throughout.

ofc, use the tags as they are the medium that you’ll be guaranteed interaction! i don’t think i need to tell anyone that anymore LUL

but these tips are the ones i have conjured off the top of my head. whether or not you choose to listen is completely up to you, but i wholeheartedly believe rule 1 is one to follow, no matter what. rule 2 is a great one to implement, and rule 3 is just bc i love reading long fics, as with a lot of other readers!

so before I answer properly I'm gonna use this as an opportunity to detail about how angry I am about how boring humans are because WE ARE SO BORING

I'm one of the people who reads A/B/O (yeah yeah the wolf dynamic was debunked, we've all seen it) for some very specific quirks like the VOCALISATIONS (let humans purr for real c'mon c'mon it's so cool ITS SO COOL WHY DO OTHER ANIMALS GET THESE THINGS) but the main thing is the scenting. Like why are human senses so shit???? I'm gonna be honest, I got around to this ask because I was talking to a friend about this and about how we wish that humans could do so much more with our senses? Like human perception is predominantly 80% vision-biased (for seeing people, of course) and imagine being able to do so much more???? I want to have a scent that people recognize as me 🥺 I love when fanfic has them smell like honey and incense and you can taste it on the air and it's just so poetic and cool??? If a dog can sense when someone is gonna have a seizure or if my food has allergens in it.... WHY ARE WE MISSING OUT

I know this isn't necessary ABO but it's covered a lot in fanfic and it's part of the reason I enjoy those types of Fics! It's why I like Naruto fanfic, why I'm enjoying reading Star Wars Fics, why I love magic as well... it's about being able to connect with people, getting a sense for their intentions and meaning and who they are as people without having to talk about it!

I just want humans to be a much cooler animals tbh lol

Okay so back to the ask itself, about shisui ABO

If I did ABO shisui it would all be about the culture and subversion of the stereotyped tropes, we know this haha. It's gonna be nesting, it's gonna be scenting, it's gonna be ANBU teams becoming actual Packs, it's gonna be different quirks and ways of communicating in different regions/villages, it's gonna be different ABO cultures between Shinobi-Civilians and Clan-Civborns, its gonna be just.... really rich and all about human nature and instincts and varying concepts of 'propriety' and feral Shinobi on missions defending 'their' kids (students) and you just KNOW inoichi has a thing about grooming Shisui's curls 🥺 anyway.... ABO, to me, is more about the idea of humans being a wilder (cooler) version of themselves

Edit: how would I specifically identify Shisui? It could go literally in any direction. Do we go for Alpha, like he's the poster-boy Uchiha Jounin? Do we go for Beta, categorically seen as the neutral option? Do we go for Omega, where the whole village is his to 'defend'? And that's just the stereotypical options, Shisui himself is so consistent (but flexible, if that even makes sense) that a secondary gender in....logistics... would do very little except impact the social perception of him

do you have any tips on fashion/dressing yourself? i'm extremely insecure i've never really dressed myself before i'm almost 25 wearing the same ripped & stained clothes from high school. idk how to start w/o having a meltdown. any advice?:( i don't even know what i look like ykwim?

Gonna keep this pretty bare bones cuz I think starting out is the hardest part/biggest step (and also im trying really hard not to make this longer than it already is, cuz it is long). As you figure out what you look like and start to appreciate your physical appearance and discover what you feel good in and what styles consistently bring you joy, you’ll be more adept at navigating these waters alone, and REALLY experimenting/pushing thru your comfort zone without needing guidance will be something you naturally look forward to doing.

Also I have a bunch of mutuals who have impeccable taste, so if anyone seeing this has their own input/tips/advice for this anon please, share them! <3

1. Look, feeling insecure is the most human experience like.. ever.. but theres a difference between feeling insecure doing something new because youve never done it before, and feeling insecure because youre not changing something youve grown out of and youre too scared to change. You will absolutely feel the difference; the former goes away and gets replaced with confidence and feeling good (looking good IS feeling good for real). The latter doesn’t go away, it’s what prompted you to want to make this change in the first place! You want to do this, you want to feel more confident, you want to wear clothing you deliberately chose because you loved it, because it was an expression of your creativity, because it looked good and you look good and as a result you feel good. Not because its just there, not because youve worn it for 10 fucking years so its all you know, not because youre scared to look at your body. Clearly youre sick of wearing the same shit. Youre sick of feeling insecure because of wearing the same shit what youre wearing. So expect and embrace the initial awkward footing that comes with change, and dont let it discourage you.

2. Get ur measurements (and record them on like ur notes app or whatever equivalent) so you know your sizing this way you don’t get overwhelmed by trying to figure out sizing by trial-and-error. Google "how to take clothing measurements" and follow a guide.

3. Make a side blog or a Pinterest or whatever for fashion and reblog/pin anything that makes you feel inspired. You’ll probably notice a pattern (or not, and that’s fine, there’s literally no rule that you have to dress one way all the time). Anything can inspire you fashion-wise, like for me, music is a huuuuge fashion inspo and it’s what got me into alternative fashion in the first place. Or perhaps you love the vibe of a certain movie or video game or a certain actor/singer/celeb/character’s style—put that on your fashion blog.

And honestly if you just want to stylistically (or literally) copy an outfit you see somewhere at first? Go for it, for real. The purpose of this is to begin familiarizing yourself with the mental exercise of deliberately choosing your clothing, branching out from what you’ve been wearing unthinkingly for years, and re-introducing yourself to what you actually look like ….. it is NOT to be an instant fashion guru with a unique style that you’ve magically come up with in your mind out of nowhere with no experience.

4. Avoid online shopping (and thrifting tbh) at first—instead of buying clothes right away youre gonna wanna actually see and feel clothes on your body. You need to feel what materials and fabrics are comfy to you, and what shapes and designs make you happy. Go to any clothing store like any outlet store and just pick out anything that looks cool or interesting to you of different styles or whatever styles you’re curious about trying. Try them on. If something feels like comfy and nice enough to where you could imagine wearing it on any given day, take a pic for reference (or hell, buy it if you like it! But only if you really think you’ll wear it!).

If that alone is too overwhelming literally just pick stuff at random to try on. Pick things that you think are crazy or ugly or boring. Try them on. Think of it like a dress up game. You’re not doing this to buy the clothes (unless like I said, you fall in love w smth). you’re there to see what different clothing looks and feels like on your body.

5. If that’s too broad, focus on one thing at a time, starting with staples, basics for daily causal wear; for an outfit you need minimum shoes, pants, and a top. Focus on one.

For example the pants you wear all the time are ripped stained and too big? okay try to find some pants that you could wear daily and could match with most anything and fit you properly. that could be denim or chinos or joggers etc in a basic/neutral color.

6. If you feel like branching out or there’s a particular item that has caught your eye (like a really specific shirt or pair of shoes) try to devise an outfit around one clothing item. Often when im deciding on an outfit it’s because I really wanna wear a specific top or something so I plan the rest of the outfit around that piece. 10. My motto with clothing is COMFY AND CUTE. I will not wear something I think is cute if it’s not also comfortable, even if I want to. I know myself too well. I go… “yeahhh this top is cute but it’s polyester and polyester gives me sensory issues”.. “this fit is so cute but too much of my skin is showing and I don’t feel comfortable with that” … well, that clothing sits in the closet and never gets worn. On the other end of the spectrum I will get really discouraged trying to wear something I know is comfortable but just isn’t flattering on me, and similarly, I won’t wear it, because it doesn’t make me feel like I look good, it makes me feel sloppy, so it doesn’t matter how comfy it is. Gotta have that cute/comfy balance so you actually wear the clothes.

Learning to dress yourself and cultivate your own style is a process, its an experiment and involves trial-and error. So keep your expectations realistic, focus on baby steps, don’t get discouraged! The first day back my dad and I went out to a mamak stall (basically just a restaurant for malay-chinese-indian food), and I had roti canai (a type of flatbread with curry) and teh tarik, which I have missed dearly. I dont typically like normal english breakfast tea so getting to have authentic teh tarik was SO GOOD. Teh tarik (translating to "pulled tea") is made with condensed milk and gets its name from how after the drink is mixed it gets continuously poured over and over from one container to another until it gets super frothy.

I've also been getting reacquainted with my favourite fruits 🥰 that you cant get in Australia like mangosteen and jambu air (ai-yer). Mangos and dragon fruit you can get in australia but. um. Theyre bad. They just taste like sweet water. Also unfortunately for me rambutan i havent been able to find rambutan 😔😔. Those look similar to lychee but they taste pretty different, less tangy and sweeter.
