let’s talk about live action and kataang because i see a lot of anti kataangs using the age gap between aang and katara’s actors to their leverage.
“if they go the kataang route, there can at most be an implied endgame.”
do anti kataang/zutara shippers not realize how much that argument works against them?
if they go an implied route, there will be no ember island players non-consensual kiss. they can no longer call aang a rapist/predator/etc because that scene will simply not exist.
same for the day of black sun kiss. they can no longer state that aang had sexually harassed katara because again, that kiss will not exist.
same for “baby, you’re my forever girl.” they can no longer refer to that scene as a male gaze fantasy (even though it’s not) because that scene will not canonically exist.
same with the ending of the fortuneteller. they can no longer make the claim that katara was under some fortunetelling spell (figuratively) to convince herself that aang would be the one that she’ll end up with.
personally i think the live action will keep scenes like the implied kiss in the cave of two lovers or the dance scene in the headband. aang’s internal conflict in the guru may be when he starts to realize that he cares about katara a little bit differently than he cares about the others.
the teaser trailer demonstrates that aang and katara’s relationship (platonic for now) will be central to the series, just as it was in the original. that’s why we get the shot of the two of them sitting side by side with each other and smiling together.
by the time that they get to books 2, 3, and maybe if they do a book 4 - aang’s actor would have already hit a growth spurt. he’ll be 17 around the time of book 3’s filming and will already be taller than katara. have you seen the kid now? he’s grown quite a bit since he’s done the filming of book 1.
if instead of getting scenes like the ember island players, we get more scenes of aang standing up to sexists for disrespecting katara (“if you won’t teach katara, then I won’t learn from you!”) aang and katara learning waterbending together, aang praising katara, katara and aang connecting together as genocide survivors - I fail to see how kataang shippers lose?
aren’t anti kataangs the ones who state that the ship is extremely sexist towards katara? that aang was possessive and territorial over her the entire time? that the romantic moments were either out of character on her end or one-sided on his? that they would at least support the ship if those moments were removed? but now, when there’s the possibility that those moments could be, suddenly it’s “there’s no way live action kataang will be canon and endgame.”
there’s an opportunity for kataang to be written in a way that antis might refer to as “organic,” an established or implied endgame that will take the course of several years to build, with an emphasis on their friendship first. romance will come much, much later, if it even happens. anti kataangs operate on the assumption that if we remove their romantic moments but keep the same writing as is, that no one will ship them. that everyone will interpret it as a platonic relationship (the way they believe it was meant to be).
which does not work in their favour for several reasons:
the moments in which they claim has fundamentally destroyed katara and aang from ever becoming romantic equals, will be removed. that’s right. get your eip metas out right now, because that scene won’t exist in a few years, baby!
in lieu of some of these moments, we could get more of an emphasis on moments that strengthen and enhance katara and aang’s dynamic, that offer the promise that they will be good partners someday.
assuming that aang’s crush and feelings on katara will be a gradual transition, the arguments of one-sidedness lessens.
by the time we get to the third season, aang will be taller than katara, in addition to having grown older. this feeds the fandom’s heteronormative obsession.
again, i fail to see how this is a negative thing for kataang, especially since it’s so early with nothing but a trailer to make predictions off of. so many of you are always complaining about how you want to see a version of aang and katara’s relationship that’s “organic, without the creepy romance, with an endgame that actually feels deserved.” now that we are possibly getting that version you want so dearly, you cry and preach that it’s the end of kataang shipping once and for all? going off of nothing but their noticeable height and age gap in book 1 (where romance doesn’t even happen)?
it becomes apparent more than ever that it’s never been a matter of kataang’s writing in the series or about katara deserving better, but the general existence of kataang that continues to unnerve you.

I accidentally saw another post №1113566768 that "kataang is one-sided", and I just...
Tumblr media
when Katara demonstrates her love for Aang literally in every episode, they are get mad about it and call it an "emotional labor" and devalue her feelings in every possible way. And then they turn around and say that "kataang is one-sided, we don't see Katara showing love to Aang." We do see that he is literally the most important person for her, she fiercely protects Aang, and cares about him - this is her way of showing love. Showing love is not necessary drawing her pupils heart-shaped (although in some episodes we can see "hearts in Katara eyes", lots of them, like blushing and getting jealous), people show love in different ways, and in case of Katara and Aang we see both ways to show it in the show: stereotypical ("hearts in eyes" way, i mean blushing, getting jealous etc), and more complex support and care, and we see it from both sides, from Aang and Katara alike.
Besides Katara and Aang have a lots of disagreement moments and even several fights. It's not a story of a girl who is allowed only to be shy and silent in the presence of her love interest. Katara never was an idealised trophy in aang eyes, he saw her at her lowest points and continued to love her. And all of this is applied to how Katara saw aang too
Literally every episode starts with Katara's monologue about Aang, but no, kataang is one-sided, my ass.

Dinner - Jack wilder x reader
Warnings: Implied smut, public fingering
Im going to write two versions of this. one with the horsemen and the other with just Jack and Y/n
As the sun set over the city, the Four Horsemen - J. Daniel Atlas, Merritt McKinney, Henley Reeves, and Jack Wilder - sat around a large table at a fancy restaurant. They were all dressed to the nines, enjoying each other's company as they chatted and laughed over dinner. Y/n, Jack's girlfriend, sat beside him, feeling happy and content.
The waiter arrived at the table with a tray of desserts, each one more decadent than the last. Y/n's eyes lit up as she looked at the array of sweets in front of her. She was always a sucker for dessert, and the sight of all that sugar made her mouth water.
"Wow, these look amazing," she exclaimed, reaching for a piece of chocolate cake. But before she could take a bite, she felt a foot slide up her leg. She looked over at Jack, who was smirking at her mischievously.
"Hey, what are you doing?" she whispered, trying to nudge his foot away with her own.
"I'm just having a little fun," he replied, his eyes sparkling with mischief. "Don't tell me you don't like it."
Y/n rolled her eyes, but couldn't help but feel a little bit turned on by his teasing. She tried to focus on her dessert, but Jack's foot kept creeping up her leg, getting close to her thigh and making her squirm in her seat.
"Jack, stop it," she hissed, trying to keep her voice low so the others wouldn't hear.
But Jack just grinned even wider. "What's wrong, baby? Can't handle a little bit of fun?"
Y/n could feel her face turning red with embarrassment. She didn't want the others to know what Jack was doing under the table, but she also didn't want to give in to his teasing.
"Seriously, Jack, knock it off," she whispered, trying to sound firm.
But Jack just laughed, and his foot moved even higher up her leg. "You know you love it," he whispered back.
Y/n tried to swat his foot away, but he was too quick for her. She could feel her body getting more and more aroused as Jack's teasing continued, and she knew she had to put a stop to it before things got out of hand.
"Jack, seriously," she said, her voice trembling with desire. "Stop it, or I'm going to have to punish you later." she said now with full confidence.
Jack's eyes widened with excitement at the thought of being punished and smirked knowing she wouldn't last long. "Oh, really? And what kind of punishment are we talking about here?"
Y/n leaned in close to his ear and whispered something that made Jack's eyes go wide with excitement. He grinned at her mischievously, and then finally withdrew his foot.
Y/n let out a sigh of relief, feeling a mix of desire and frustration coursing through her body. She knew that she and Jack were going to have a lot of fun later that night, but for now, she was content to enjoy the rest of her dessert and the company of her friends.

So, I absolutely refused to watch the ATLAB live action for reasons you've probably already seen. But my main reason, and how I decided litteral MONTHS before it came out, was that the Og creators left the show due to "creative differences".
If any of you have never seen a Netflix original show, remake or otherwise, you should know that "creative differences" usually means "Netflix took the reins and fucked it alllll up".
Now, I didn't watch it. But my optimistic younger sister did. At first, she said it was okay. But then she finished it today and told me that, yes, Netflix took the reins and, indeed, fucked it all up.
I could probably go on and on about how live action remakes of animated shows is the least creative thing you could do, and how it's contributing to the lack of new animated shows, while also showing Hollywood is both creatively starved and clueless about how not to butcher the few good ideas they do have.
I could also go on about how this new format of show (eight forty minute episodes a season) makes creating new worlds, exploring them, fleshing out characters, nearly impossible to do which is why a lot of newer shows fall flat to the point where I go back to rewatching New Girl for the umpteenth time.
But I'll just say that I'm glad that the Og creators of ATLAB are working on their own series, and I can't wait to watch it.

ATLA and Castlevania fans! If bending existed in the Castlevania world, which would Alucard be?
Tumblr media
A firebender on account his father wields literal balls of fire?
Or a waterbender since his mother was a healer?
One could also argue air because he can take on a mist form, but mist is also water vapor suspended in air, so still a point toward waterbender.
Go!
I'm not including the Avatar as an option, because we all know Sypha is the Avatar! I mean, come on, she's one element away from it.

The problem with having Kyoshi come in in the second episode to fight Aang’s battle for him.
And this is a long post so please bear with me.
I know a lot of people saw that scene as badass and cool, because they love Kyoshi. But can we just look at this objectively and agree that scene ruined every mystery there was about exactly what Aang was capable of, while also eliminating every limitation Avatar state had?
The original show showed very slowly what the avatar state was capable of doing, every single time it was very short, it came in only when Aang’s life was in danger or his emotions overwhelmed him, and it took a toll on Aang’s physical state. The first time we truly see what a fully realized avatar is capable of is in the Avatar Roku episode, episode 8! Where something similar happens, Roku takes over Aang’s body and fights for him. But it’s so short, it’s like 2 minutes long because there’s a time limit, it happens only because it’s the solstice and Avatar Roku can’t move. He stays in the same spot but shows exactly what Aang will be capable once he can control the avatar state, just in those 2 minutes (maybe even less).
The next time we see Aang’s great potential is in the series finale, when he merges with the ocean spirit and turns into a giant Koi fish, wiping a whole fire nation army. That’s when we see what Aang is truly capable of, even if it was with the help of the ocean spirit. That’s when we are shocked to see the great power Aang holds. But the show is still clever about it, in the very next episode it emphasizes that Aang still doesn’t know how to enter the avatar state or how to control it. It also adds in the same episode a restriction, a vulnerability, that even though the avatar state makes Aang incredible powerful, it also puts the Avatar cycle at risk. That’s how clever the OG show was. It answers the question and rose right after they showed the full potential of the avatar state, why doesn’t Aang just go into the avatar state right now and defeat the fire lord? It’s all explained so well.
The live action just destroyed everything that made the avatar state special in the second episode! Aang has no problem contacting Kyoshi, he doesn’t have to wait for the solstice, he doesn’t have to get into the temple in the fire nation, fighting his way in, he doesn’t have to wait for the sun to hit Roku’s statue, no, he just goes to Kyoshi island and contacts Kyoshi so easily. And Kyoshi has no problem taking over his body and fighting for him. There are no restrictions, Kyoshi just came back to life, full power, moves around the island however she likes, there’s no time limit, it’s all pretty easy. And that’s when you get rid of the mystery of what is Aang truly capable of. In the second episode! And there are almost no restrictions. Aang just has to be in that Avatar’s shrine to be able to contact him and let him take over his body. Literally the first thing Aang does when he arrives at the north is ask avatar Kuruk to take over his body and fight the fight for him. You see how that’s a problem? How you main character doesn’t have to work and progress and learn anything to be able to defeat the big bad, when he can just summon that great power at will whenever he wants? Aang doesn’t learn waterbending at all the first season! And why should he? He took out the whole fire nation army in the second episode!
And the next time Aang enters the avatar state in the live action is when he merges with the ocean spirit, just like in the show, but he wills it, it doesn’t happen because of Aang’s emotion, nope, it’s already established that Aang can pretty much enter the avatar state whenever he wants. But the show goes out of its way to explain to us that it’s not Aang in there, he’s gone, it’s something else, some kind of a monster. Taking away any agency Aang ever had. Which mean, we never really see Aang fight and showcase his capabilities. I think he truly fights only against Bumi and just a little bit against some fire nation soldiers in the blue spirit part and the siege on the north, which does nothing to show us exactly how powerful Aang was.
Forget the avatar state, Aang was pretty fucking badass without it throughout the first season too. Almost every episode showed us exactly what Aang can do with just one element, him kicking Zuko’s ass over and over, battling a volcano, fighting the pirates, fighting Zhao and so much more. So when you saw Aang kick ass with just air, you couldn’t wait to see what he’d be able to do with all 4. And none of that is in this show.
Aang doesn’t learn ANYTHING in this live action. He isn’t limited in any way. He can summon the avatar state at will, talk to every avatar, let them take over his body, he can enter the spirit world without a problem, and get out of it too. He doesn’t even learn waterbending, the only clear goal Aang had since the second episode of the OG show!
So when you give away the mistery of the true power the avatar holds in your second episode, and don’t even show me what Aang can do without it, there’s no anticipation in the audience to see Aang’s true potential. We see Aang get more powerful with every season and that’s exciting! That’s what makes the show fun! And we only see the glimpse of Aang’s true power is with the Avatar state until the very last episode of the OG, that’s why when Aang enters the avatar state and absolutely devours Ozai it was exciting, and shocking and fucking exhilarating. If that same scene happens in the live action, it will have 10% of the impact the original had, because you already showed me what the avatar can do, you showed me Kyoshi fucking flying and blasting everyone, why would I find it exciting when Aang eventually does it?
It’s just bad writing 101 and I don’t get how, with the budget they had, they made such amateur mistakes.

What makes me so disgusted about Netlix santizing the ever-loving fuck of the ATLA story ("Oooh we toned toned the sexism", "Oooh, Aang is more serious now") is because they're just showing they're fucking cowards making content for audience that wants to consume but not to think.
Despite it's light-hearted tone and well-balanced moments of humor and teenage goofiness, ATLA managed to convey one simple truth: war is ugly.
War changes you. War distorts you. Even if you're not at the frontline and in a relative safety, you're still affected and it's not supposed to look good.
With Sokka and Katara they barely scratched the surface: despite Sokka saying some stuff about girls because of his own insecurity and feeling he had big boots to fill and Katara having never recovered from the anger of being unable to save her mom, they were nice and kind to everyone, included Fire Nation civillians, because they could afford being kind. Because of Aang. Who gave them hope. Who was a promise that this war can end and they can all be saved. They had a promise of tomorrow and a future - and so no matter what they had seen, they held on to that. And even with this, they still had their scars. They just got to address them instead of having them fester.
For comparsion, we had characters like Jet - who never had such hope in the first place and thus was capable of much more cruel decisions, caring not for a single life of a Fire Nation civillian (not that I blame him) because he experienced the brutality of invasion with nobody around to protect him.
We had characters like Hama -- a waterbender stolen from her tribe, imprisoned and tortured, stuck in the enemy's land unable to trust anyone; growing old and alone, having to watch Fire Nation people enjoy they lives ignorant of the destruction their empire was bringing to others and wanting make them suffer as much as she did. Wanting to make them know fear and desperation and the horror of being locked away to rot.
And the only reason why Katara wasn't Hama, was Katara's mom sacrifice. Not because Katara was different, kinder or more merciful. Because someone gave her life away to protect her life.
We had a society like Southern Tribe, where women were forbidden from practicing combat waterbending and only allowed to do healing -- because Fire Nation wasn't above committing genocide and keeping women from fighting seemed like a measure to keep them safe. It was a flawed logic, but the show pointed out how being stuck in the old ways and clinging to the illusion of safety can bite you in the ass.
Sokka and Katara didn't remain good people because of some inner goodness they had at birth -- it became possible, because of Aang. Otherwise, in time, they too would have grown more bitter, more cynical, clinging to whatever coping mechanisms available just to survive. In time, they would have approved of Jet's ideas -- because nothing is fair in this world, there is no miracle, and if resisting genocide and colonization means being violent, then so be it.
War is horrible because it ruins your life and takes away the parts of you that you may never claim back.
But I won't expect modern show writers to ever understand it or even to be willing to get out from their comfort zone and explore it.

Lol, Netlix's version of Atla is funny man (I say this sarcastically). Not Aang saying "its time to fight" at the end of the the penultimate episode, not having learnt 1 drop of water bending, in the book named water...where he's supposed to master waterbending....

My Avatar The Last Airbender live action cast wish list.
Every person I choose was based on how much I think they look like the characters, and how good they can act. I didn't find anyone for Aang & Iroh though but I think Jackie Chan would be a great Iroh. He did a great job in the Karate Kid with a serious/kind role.
I would want Aang to have a unknown talented young actor.
