Nightmare and his baby gang Chapter 19

Previous chapter

Error was still in front of Nightmare, between the guardian and Blue, he refused to let his guard down. Blue hurted him and Nightmare was clearly too weak to do anything. He won’t let him hurt the guardian as he hurted him.

Nightmare was still shaking and started leaning against the destroyer’s back which made him glitch harder. He could handle a little physical contact if it was from Nightmare but not for too long.

“It’s fine Ru…He didn’t hurt me or the kids. I just need negativity and rest, he can’t handle the boys and the castle alone while I recover. I need you to watch the kids with him or something, I don’t know how you two want to do things but I don’t want any dangerous activity in the castle.”

“I’m not a babysitter!!” Error exclaimed when Nightmare started looking at him with the expression of someone completely done with some teenager bullshit.

Not even answering back Nightmare turned his back to the two other adults, started hugging his boys, and to get comfier. Blue smiled moved by the guardian’s doing, it was so cute. He was cuddly like Dream when he was too tired, adorable. The more he stayed at the castle the more resemblance he could see between the twins.

“I hate it when you’re sick you’re more annoying than ever.”

Error groaned and approached the guardian before taking him in his arms. Both Nightmare and the kids were surprised, he struggled to get free but Error refused to let him go.

“Error! Let me go this instant!” He exclaimed before trying to get free with his tentacles, in vain.

“Nah. You’re sick so you go to your bed. Now stop it before I attach you with my strings and pull you to your room.”

Nightmare kept struggling for a moment before he gave up when he understood it was pointless. Error refused to listen to him and if he made the glitch crash into the stairs it wouldn’t end well for both of them. Blue was following them with the kids, with impressed expressions. Great now he wouldn’t hear the end of this…

Error put him into his bed and covered him with two warm blankets. He closed all of the curtains and shooed the kids away because apparently, he needed calm to get better. Urgh.

“Nighty night Mare. Sleep well and I’ll be back with a treat for you.”

“Stop treating me like a kid” Nightmare groaned with the blankets that were practically covering his face.

Error hummed something and closed the door leaving the guardian alone in a calm and safe place. With that, he should be able to get some rest. Now Error only needed to get the kids busy and started collecting negativity for the octopus.

“It’s impressive how you two act so differently from what I saw last time you were together,” Blue said with a curious expression that Error knew too well.

“Nightmare is nicer when he’s sick so it’s easier to deal with him when he’s like that. Also, you saw us on the battlefield, not in our homes. Mare is always too stressed when he’s out collecting negativity.”

“Well, he has good reasons if what he told me is true…”

Error looked at Blue a little impressed that he get Nightmare to talk about the balance. He didn’t like to talk about it since he had to explain his own weakness to do so. So the fact that Blue, a star sanses, knew about the balance thanks to Nightmare was really surprising.

“Error about last time…I’m sorry!! I didn’t know and I was mad and I hurted you and I’m sorry! I would understand if you don’t want to be my friend anymore! It’s just I missed spending time with you…I didn’t want to hurt you…”

That was why he didn’t want to come back to the castle and pick up Blue! He knew the little skeleton would say sorry! He didn’t want to hear it! He didn’t want to forgive him! But he also didn’t want to lose his friend, also the tears in his eyes were unexpected.

The destroyer groaned trying to decide what to do with this mess while the kids were enjoying the situation like it was some kind of TV Show.

“Fine! I forgive you! But never do that again or I’ll send you to the end of the multiverse and you’ll be waiting for years before someone finds you!”

Blue kept silent on the fact that he already did that since he was still stuck in Nightmare castle. At least thanks to that he met his nephew and learn more about why Nightmare and Error were killing and destroying people’s lives.

“Error why did you never talk about Ink or Nightmare to Dream about the Balance? We could end the fights if they knew!”

Error sighed when he thought about the last time he tried to tell about the balance to Ink. It was pointless with the squid, he won’t listen or understand Error wasn’t sure. Nightmare also had his reasons to keep Dream away from the truth, it was a complicated mess.

“I told Ink a few times already. He just keeps forgetting about it so in the end, I stopped, it’s pointless to talk about that with him. As for Mare well…Dream is so focused on bringing his old brother back to where they were and to how their life was. He refuses to go back and if you’re trying to take him back to this damn place or a similar one I’ll kill all of you in a matter of seconds. You can tell your boyfriends about me if you want but never talk about Nightmare.”

“I see…”

The destroyer took the kids in his strings and brought them to the living room where he gave them papers and pencils before lighting the TV. With that they should be busy and wouldn’t bother Blue too much, he could go produce more negativity for the guardian.

“Alright kids I’m going out, you behave with Blue while I’m gone and everything will be alright. If you’re acting like some brat with him I’ll lock all of you into the anti-void for three hours. Be nice!” Error said before jumping into another portal, ready to go apeshit for his more than a friend.

Cross started shaking it at the thought of that big white place, why did his dad call Error and not Ccinno?! He wanted a hug from the barista that smelled like hot cocoa and was super fluffy.

“I want Ccinno to be watching us not Error…”

“Are you kidding?! Error is so cool! I bet he’s going to get something for dad to feel better!” Killer exclaimed looking at the place where the destroyer was with stars in his eyes.

“You know Ccinno kids?”

“He’s one of dad’s boyfriends! Just like Error.” Dust exclaimed with a rabbit plush in his hands.

Blue gasped surprised, he had no idea about the relationship between the three. Now he could picture it he found it cute and nice, Ccinno could help both of the murderers to feel better and they could help him not feel lonely. Who knew maybe Nightmare would invite him to their wedding?

The moment Nightmare opened his eyes he knew something was wrong. It was quiet, his castle was quiet! It shouldn’t be with four chaos makers running into the halls and corridor as they pleased. Something must be wrong, what if there had been an accident?! Or that someone came for them?!

Without thinking twice Nightmare got out of bed and once the spinning sensation stopped he went searching for his boys. He was still feeling like shit but not as much as before, he could even walk without any difficulties.

The guardian went down the stairs, wary of his surrounding in case of an intrusion in his castle. This calm wasn’t normal. When he entered the living room he saw his boys coloring on papers while Error was watching Undernovela and Blue setting the table for the dinner. In which parallel universe did he fall?!

“Mare! You’re supposed to rest in your room not come here to check on us!” The destroyer exclaimed before coming near his friend to carry him to his bedroom. ”The kids are fine and quiet so let them be. I’ll bring you your meal into your room soon so you’re going back to bed!”

“Wait Error! I’m feeling way better I can stay out of bed now. I-”

“Yeah nah, I’m not buying it. We’ll see this evening if you’re feeling better but for now, you rest.”

Nightmare sighed and let the destroyer carry him to his bedroom. The kids who noticed Error was taking their dad away started to follow the two skeletons like little ducklings. Blue found it so cute he took a picture, one day they will all look at this and laugh. He was sure of it.

Once Error put Nightmare in his bed and finished tucking him in, he started going back to the living room. Nightmare grabbed the destroyer’s coat and as embarrassed as he was he kept looking at him.

“Could you stay..? I-I don’t really like to stay alone…”

He hated it, he hated how weak his voice sounded, how pathetic he must have looked, or how stupid his behavior was. He was the king of negativity and he couldn’t stand being alone anymore. Pathetic. The kids were watching him as if he said something unbelievable and it was making him nervous.

He went to take his hand back and leave Error alone when the black-boned skeleton smiled at him and came into his bed, soon followed by the kids.

“Just try to not touch me for too long, Octopus.”

“Sure,” Nightmare said smiling and hugging the destroyer with his tentacle while he was in his arms. His friend had the power to make him feel at ease anytime he wanted and the guardian loved it. He felt so safe and warm with him, he never had this with anyone else except for Ccinno. The contacts were easier for Error when it was his tentacles so Nightmare tried to hold him with them each time they were hugging like that.

The kids were about to stay in the bed too but then Blue came to the door and asked them to leave their parents alone for a moment. They needed some time together without any kids after all and Nightmare could enjoy some time without worrying about the boys.

Leaving with Blue under the soft gaze of the destroyer the kids watched their dad falling asleep in Error’s arms.

“I’ll get you more negativity tomorrow. You’ll get better in no time, you’ll see.”

Nightmare hummed a positive answer and cuddled up to his more than a friend before falling asleep again, feeling way safer than usual in the destroyer’s arms.
