Page 1. ---- Travers Only Six Hours in Penitentiary. ---- TAKEN TO TORONTO ---- AT MIDNIGHT SATURDAY BY INSPECTOR DUNCAN. ---- Warden Platt Did Not Have Him Clipped - Sensation Over Travers' Removal From Jail - Said He Was Threatened. ---- W. R. Travers, the ex-manager of the Farmers’ Bank, is again in Toronto, and he paid a few hours’ visit to the penitentiary here on Saturday afternoon, and then  was taken back to the Queen city to give further evidence in the bank case in which many prominent men are involved.

After Travers’ arrival here on Saturday afternoon, Deputy Severs took him to the Randolph hotel for dinner, and then to the penitentiary. Owing to the good judgement of Warden Platt, Travers was not clipped or put into prison garb on his arrival as he might have been. The warden had no official notification that Travers was to be immediately taken back to Toronto, but he learned of the fact, so he delayed putting the newly-arrived prisoner through the routine that follow's entrance to the penitentiary, and in so doing he did a considerable for to have sent Travers immediately back to Toronto clipped like convict would have been decidedly hard. 

Travers remained in the office of the chief keeper until the evening, when Inspector Duncan arrived from Toronto with an order of the court for the production of the prisoner. Warden Platt on receiving the order, handed over the bank man to the inspector, who brought him into the city, and took him to the Randolph hotel, where he kept him until midnight, leaving for the west on the 12.25 a.m.. train Sunday.

Travers was well aware that he would be recalled to Toronto, and his entrance to the big prison did not so unnerve him as it would probably have done had he been mitering it to come forth only when he had completed his term of four years and seven and a half months, which will be the equivalent of his six year's sentence, deducting good behavior time and the six weeks he has already served in jail. 

The order to return Travers was made by Judge Winchester, chairman of the general sessions of the peace, who demanded his return as a material witness in the case against Col. James Munro, president of the defunct bank, who is to charge of signing false returns regarding the banks affairs to the government of Ottawa.

one thing that i have no idea if it's a blindspot for me or not, accounting wise, is internal controls. because where i work they are airtight, so i have no real exposure to what weak controls look like. in theory i think that would make it easier for me to identify a weak point but realistically i don't actually know

#when i first started there i was alarmed at how quickly i was given banking access #and then over the next like 6 months i started to really see that there is almost no way to commit internal fraud #at least not without some serious collaboration from multiple people #and even if you manage to do that there's no way it's not getting caught #trickery from the outside is the only way to pull it off #and even then we're particularly well trained in identifying it it's very rare #but what does that look like without the 600 hundred layers of corporate clownery #hard to say
