... both Jewish and non-Jewish students, inspired by anti-Apartheid protests in Beinecke Plaza decades earlier, had gathered for a week-long sit-in to demand that Yale divest the portion of its endowment invested in the stocks of military contractors, which make the weapons Israel is currently using in its war with Hamas in Gaza. The students were protesting under the Occupy Beinecke coalition, which includes Yale Jews for Ceasefire, a group of Jewish students dedicated to fighting for a ceasefire in Gaza as well as sustainable peace and equality within the region.
The lesson will be to reject the abuses of force; the abuses of authority; to embrace respect for people's differences and hopefully, a retreat from politicizing or pitting against each other what are ultimately universal values of peace and the betterment of all for all, and get to enjoy them instead. One hopes. There is an awful lot of pain and hatred trying to be implanted at the moment, and it's going to take a superhuman effort to forgive after the madness passes. We will have to rally around the positives and focus towards the future.
Attention Christians - THIS is what Jesus would do. Put his body on the line, speak truth to power, and demand justice for the starving and oppressed. 🙌
Thank you, @christiansforafreepalestine, for being an example of true decency and faith in action.
“Our scriptures say ‘woe to you, who eat while others go hungry!” they called out to senate staff.
Saying “Congress won’t eat until Gaza eats,” over 60 Christians from across the U.S. are nonviolently blockading the Senate Cafeteria to pressure the Senate and their staffers to support a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, restore aid to UNRWA, and end military funding to Israel. #CFPAction
I’ll come back to add links to originals when I have time. It’s a balance 🤟
I haven’t forgotten that I would share info about Biden & Raytheon ties, I just… have not had the wherewithal for it. That’s a tired excuse and I’m tired too. I do all of this copy/pasting and alt captions from my mobile.
RIP my hands, carpel tunnel 🤡 but I need those things for painting.
ETA: MOST importantly I forgot to include this, which talks about auctioning off Palestinian homes and properties within CA and US:
You can find the video and call to action on twitter here.
Call your dogs home! - Urgent Action Needed to Stop Humanitarian Crisis in Palestine 🇵🇸
9 so far! Help us get to 10 signers!
As a concerned American and one of your constituents, I am writing to express my PROFOUND HORROR and OUTRAGE regarding our recent decision to cut off direct humanitarian funding to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine. This decision, coupled with our complicity in arming their oppressors and enabling their attackers, is a grave betrayal of our moral values and responsibilities.
The implications of denying aid to UNRWA are dire and inhumane. It puts the lives of Palestinian refugees in Gaza at even greater risk, especially in light of the recent findings by the International Court of Justice suggesting the plausibility of genocide being committed in the region. The suffering inflicted upon innocent civilians through starvation and deprivation is a form of collective punishment that only serves to deepen the atrocities and reinforces the urgent need for intervention.
I implore you and all our elected officials to take immediate and decisive action to address this crisis. I urge you to vehemently oppose any appropriations bill that would extend the ban on UNRWA funding. Instead, I urge you to advocate for the reinstatement of UNRWA funding, the promotion of a permanent ceasefire, and the cessation of any further weapons or funding to the Israeli military.
The lives of countless innocent individuals hang in the balance, and failure to act decisively will only lead to further bloodshed and suffering. As your constituent, I urge you to stand on the side of justice, compassion, and humanity.
Thank you for your attention to this critical issue. I eagerly await your response and trust that you will take immediate and meaningful action to address the humanitarian crisis in Palestine.
Call your dogs home!
They'll bomb whole families and kill children and say the blood isn't on their hands because they are doing it in "self-defense."
They'll starve an entire country and bomb humanitarian aid workers to death for trying to bring starving men, women, and children food, and make it look like an "accident."
They'll kill anybody foreign who stands in the way of their Empire and call them "terrorists."
They're not going to be any nicer to me and you just because we're "citizens" of their Empire.
They'll throw any of their own "citizens" who protest what they're doing and dissent to genocide into prisons and hospitals and call them "lunatics" and "drug-addicts."
They'll let us starve and go homeless while they spend every last fictional dollar in the National Treasury on more bombs and more industry.
They'll let us go without healthcare and deprive us of our rights when we are sick or when we are injured. They'll outlaw being disabled and forbid us from mixing with the ableds.
They'll work us to death and kill off as many of us as we can and replace us with machines and call this "progress."
““This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal.”
These words of Aaron’s haunt us.
He is right. We are rapidly entering an era in which human life is treated as worthless. This is obvious in Gaza, but we can see it elsewhere around the world, as well. With wars proliferating around the Mideast and North Africa, we are poised on the threshold of a new age of genocides. Even inside the United States, mass casualty incidents have become routine, while an entire segment of the underclass is consigned to addiction, homelessness, and death.”
The Zionist plan for the Palestinians is to kill them and drive them off their land by whatever cruelty is necessary, with the understanding that one day people will look back on it in the same way they look back on the genocides of other indigenous populations, saying Yeah it was bad, but that was in the past so there’s nothing we can do about it.”
honestly if you don't outwardly show support for palestine, i'm automatically assuming you're a zionist. no one has an excuse about being uneducated anymore. everyone who does not support us, either out of ignorance or genuine malice, is complicit in our genocide and i do not trust them at all. if you have not spoken out about what is happening, you are not, and were never, our ally.
AU where Jason gets his revenge by becoming a lawyer and getting joker sentenced to the death penalty
Bruce is conflicted about it but any time he tries to say anything on the subject Alfred just talks over him like "oh we're so proud of you master Jason you finished college and you didn't even use your father's extensive resources that could've easily gotten someone in this family a degree aren't we so proud master Bruce that Jason got himself a respectable profession--"
I am actually a Native person who has always gone by animal names, both my deadname and every name I've used as a trans person, and I think if you have a Native character who you feel would have a nature name (because of hippy parents or because they're trans or whatever), then you can avoid stereotypes by having ~more than one Native character~
I know, it's a shocking concept, but it's actually pretty easy to avoid contributing to stereotypes in your works when you remember that you are allowed to have more than one character from the same ethnic and/or racial group. Just have a different Native character with a "normal" name. Problem solved. Have fun.
watching the sdcc panel and i am just very :) about how sweet their answers to “what are some of the micro moments from the game that have stuck with you the most over the years?” are. taliesin saying what the fuck is up with that which was the first like The Party Gets To Know Each Other moments of c3. travis saying asking his wife if he could kiss her in campaign. marisha going way back to the cannonball competition in campaign one. ashley choosing the beauyasha date but also just the silly goat noise matt made. liam adding onto that to compliment matt roleplaying grass so well and then saying his favourite moment was writing a story for laura and reading it to her as caleb for jester. and then matt saying that was his answer, and that his favourite moments of the game are when they find ways to give gifts to each other whether tangible or not. and sam saying his favourite moments have less to do with the story and is more so when he can just. see his friends across the table from him. when marisha perches and when laura and ashley are (badly) drawing dicks and liam saying he loves when sam sneezes and ashley tells him to stop it and just. yeah. they Are an extremely popular online powerhouse, but i’m so happy that they’re also friends building a world together out of gifts to and love for one another.
like i Am so enamoured with the characters and the world of exandria but the moments when you can feel the love that those people have for each other reach out from behind the stained glass of their performances (to steal a metaphor from brennan lee mulligan) are so extremely special and i am endlessly grateful that they decided to share their silly little home game with the world.
