i think what pisses me off the most is that last year, nobody had trouble going against russia. companies dropped everything so they could keep russians off their sites, to block them from their news articles and to sanction in other ways. eurovision kicked it out. even steam, discord, any fucking western apps or websites have been so willing to perform in ‘activism’. musicians and celebrities speaking out and country-blocking their work, and so much more. but now what? where is all of that now for israel? where are all the brands leaving the country to ‘protest’? where is anything? what pisses me off the most is that none of them have actually really cared about ukraine, ever, and none of them care about palestine now.

I've been working on this fic for weeks! You don't understand how excited I am to post this
Time In A Tin Can
Summary: Twelve years ago, back in middle school, Mao Weijia and her two friends, Guo Xiaolu and Liu Sanjie, went on a camping trip. Together, the three of made a time capsule and buried it somewhere in the middle of the forest. Now she needs said time capsule back. Hopefully this photo hopping sorcerer can locate it, she'll even pay extra to get it retrieved. Qiao Ling and Cheng Xiaoshi are excited they're essentially getting paid to go camping, and Lu Guang is just along for the ride.
It's a Link Click camping fic! This is by far the longest oneshot I've written and I'm so proud of it. (12k lol, I thought it would be a 3k)
The base concept for this is a case fic where both Cheng Xiaoshi and Lu Guang have to work simultaneously in the past and present. My first idea was darker, a missing journalist case, but I decided to go with a lighter treasure hunting case instead. And I'm glad I did that, because this ended up being what I like to think as the perfect balance of hurt/comfort.
Anyway! I would appreciate if you give it a read, thanks!

“I… It was…” Ernest clenched his fists. “…how you lied…” He pointed at Emiliana. “…about your tragic backstory!”
(Cosa diavolo…?)
Emiliana rubbed her head. “You mean Kat actually believed— the fictitious plot line of a movie— was my life story?”
“I-it might be fictitious to you,” Ernest stressed, “but you shouldn’t make light of such things!”
“What things—?”
“Missing parents!” Ernest burst out.

Abyssborn Part 3: Fateweavers
Fateweavers have been mentioned in tandem with Harbingers but they have about the same effect on any Abyssborn. But what are they? Fateweavers, also called World Shakers, are beings that have the ability to change the world, for good or evil is relative. They are people that are able to weave their own fate. I think of it as being like a shounen protagonist. They can have the 1 in 2 million, 500 thousand something chance and succeed, they can find the hope within the most dire of scenarios, and they can turn the tide for their favor. It isn't an absolute that they'll survive but it's that they CAN...consistently at that that makes one a Fateweaver.
Abyssborn of both kinds are naturally drawn to people that have the possibility of being a Fateweaver (they are not recognized as one until they overturrn 'fate' at least once). The why doesn't seem to be clear. But Tannim theorizes it's because they have a intrinsic sense of 'kinship' with Fateweavers. Meanwhile Balmoral believes it's because they are 'natural' order disturbers that the world acknowledges and an Abyssborn seeks to imitate what they can do. Both are correct in a way. Change is what draws an Abyssborn and their ultimate goal is to remain in a world permanently.
However there's a lot that happens when an Abyssborn and Fateweaver come in contact. One of the main things is that an Abyssborn is passively empowered being around a Fateweaver. If possibility is what they can consume, the possibility is shifting often around a Fateweaver so naturally they are stronger.
The other is that an Abyssborn starts to 'interfere' with their fate changing. Abyssborn, particularly Harbingers, have a 'power of interference.' They start to obfuscate the 'threads' around Fateweavers and start destabilizing the Fateweaver's fate. This interference confuses the world as to whom is messing up the order. Abyssborn meddling is considered 'bad' while a Fatewaver's is considered 'good' and their proximity to each other can make it seem like the opposite. Where the world mistakes a Fateweaver's natural changes for an Abyssborn's interference and the world ends up punishing the Fateweaver rather than the Abyssborn. And since the Fateweaver DOES belong to this world, they can be struck by the world's judgment.
This is why generally, Abyssborn have their own rules about Fateweavers that they try to impart on others. They are permitted to meet and even befriend those that are meant to change the world. However they are NOT to come in and change the 'world changing events' that Fateweaver is meant to overturn. There are ways to get around this. In their original world, Tannim regularly followed Noita into the world changing events but because he never struck the 'final blow,' it was never counting as overturning her Fateweaver status.
Deciding to ignore this, can have blow back onto the Fateweaver. The worst scenario was experienced by Tannim's father in his original world. He interfered with an event that Tannim's mother, a Fateweaver, was supposed to endure at a great cost to herself. As a result, she died from a combination of childbirth and plotting from her family. Basically, there will be a bounce back that falls onto the Fateweaver that is messed with. It's unfair but it's also why no one likes a goddamn Abyssborn.

RE: talking to conservative parents, I’ve found a good method to de-worming their brains is to not get riled up, just act a little bored and remind them “the news cycle only shows salacious stuff. They want you to be mad and scared because it makes you easier to control. Think about it for a second. Do you REALLY believe everything they have to say?” Or “you can’t believe everything you read or see on the internet. Remember, they earn money every time you click on their video.”
And especially when my dad starts getting huffy about Prices or Artists He Doesn’t Like, I tell him “that’s the beauty of capitalism. they have a product to sell and the freedom of expression if you don’t like it you don’t have to buy it.”
Might not work for everyone but dad’s KRYPTONITE especially is saying “but dad that’s capitalism! You LOVE capitalism!” And he either has to stop complaining or admit capitalism is bad and so far I haven’t lost
