genuinely why are mike and bill not a more common ship????

did we watch the same movies??? because when I watched chapter two, right before the end of the movie, there was this scene that ended with this:

Mike: "Hey, Bill..." *hesitant pausing* "..I love you, man."

Bill: *soft lil laugh* "I love you, too."

and uhm Bill is the only one we see Mike check on out of the group at the end??? and we saw Mike call everyone at the beginning, but the scene with 'I love you', Mike only called Bill?????

and they're both book nerds???

and Bill is the only one Mike shows the ritual shit to??? and looks at him like this while doing so???

and there's the scene where they pull this gay shit

did I watch a different movie or am I just painfully unaware of the hanbrough fan base

Information on the SAS ships.

A post for those who are new to the fandom and are CONF U S E D or those who want to know what this fandom has to offer. 

Timestamp for post: 17 / 12 2022, this is the current status of the ships. Mild spoilders ahead!

            Ship. Paddy Mayne x Eoin McGonigal, sometimes called Paddon.

Who??? The short, angry irishman( Paddy) and the taller irishman with black, curly hair and a wide smile( Eoin, appears in ep 1-3).

Descriptive tags. Angsty in the poetic, “one died too early” type of way, really beautiful, two-sided love, loss.

Canon content. Lots, great for all the canon-lovers out there, anecdotes found in biographies etc, new stuff is always ticking in. These two are a canon and irl couple what more could you possibly want?

Fanon content. Angst, fluff, basically all is canon complient, not much smut yet.

Widely known? Yes, this is the biggest and most accepted ship you will encounter in this fandom.

Ship status. Undead, one is deceased the other never lets go and therefore the ship is forever sailing the seas.

            Ship. Paddy Mayne x Augustin Jordan, called Maydan, MaydAn and on rare occations referred to as The Poet and The Philosopher, more of a descriptive nickname but everyone will know who you are talking about,.

Who??? The short, angry irishman( Paddy) and the lanky, french guy with dark hair and glasses( Augustin, appears in ep 5-6), they have an erotic scrap in the sand.

Descriptive tags. Brat vs Brat-tamer, love to get on each others nerves, shared love of poetry, horny.

Canon content. About as much as Paddon but every interaction these two have gives off the same vibe as a watersoaked, sparkling power outlet.

Fanon content. A lot of the fandom’s content is dedicated to this ship. Dirty as all fuck smut, headcanons, fics, AUs (so far: vampire/supernatural, modern, pirate), playlist, moodboard.

Widely known? Yes, this is the second biggest ship( at the moment).

Ship status. Alive

            Ship. Reggie Seekings x Johnny Cooper (x Mike Sadler).

Descriptive tags. Two huggable bears and their twink, super sweet and caring ship-dynamic.

Who??? The guy that looks a bit like Draco Malfoy( Johnny), the guy who is shirtless a lot, has a heavy british accent and lots of tattoos on his chest( Reggie) and the one who has a poker game in Cairo on Thursdays, is blond and is also in desperate need of a haircut( Mike, appears in ep 4-6)

Canon content.  Some, Reggie and Johnny have good chemistry and the real people the characters are based on were close irl. Interactions are subtle but interesting. Lots of anecdotes found in biographies that strengthen the ship.

Fanon content. Fluffy smut, smut, AUs (modern, supernatural, pirate)

Widely known? Yes and it is gaining recognition fast.

Ship status. Alive.

             Ship. Bill Fraser x Mike Sadler.

Descriptive tags. ? I’m not very famililiar with the ship.

Canon content. Non-existing.

Fanon content.  Some.

Widely known? Not really.

Ship status. Alive.        

            Ship. Paddy x Eoin x Augustin

Who??? See “Paddy x Eoin” and “Paddy x Augustin”.

Descriptive tags. Fix-it, more of a love-corner than a love-triangle, two of the characters never even met but that is easily fixed in fanon.

Canon content. None( ish). Two characters have a similar relationship to the third only in different periods of time.

Fanon content. Not much.

Widely known? No.

Ship status. Undead, one is deceased, the other never lets go and the third never met number one.

             Ship. Walter Essner x Herbert Bruckner.

Who??? The tallest of the french legionnairs, the one that got baptized as Mr Real Thing and got his hat kicked(Essner) and the other german, the guy from Dark (Bruckner, both appears in ep 5-6)

Descriptive tags. Angsty but in the ugly way, betrayal, friends or something more, outsiders being alone together, lies.

Canon content. Non-existing, the ingredients are there but you’ll have to squint really hard and use your imagination.

Fanon content. M I N I M A L.

Widely known? No.

Ship status. Ghost. Both died under *caugh* tragic circumstances.

             Ship. David Stirling x Eve Mansour

Who??? Adam from Sex Education( David) and the beautiful woman( Eve)

Descriptive tags. Two-sided love, really beautiful.

Canon content. Lots, these two are a canon couple.

Fanon content. Not much.

Widely known? Yes.

Ship status. ?, it is a bit muddy.

            Ship. Jock Lewis x Mirren ?

Who??? The small, eccentric guy( from GOT, Jock, appears in ep 1-4) and his hallucination  wife.

Descriptive tags. Really sad, beautiful but sad, two-sided love.

Canon content. Lots, but there are a lot of gaps to fill in.

Fanon content. None.

Widely known? Yes.

Ship status. Ghost.

Child murder, miscarriages, child loss, alcoholism, hate speech and crimes, animal death and suicide

Summary: It’s a stenbrough fic (surprise surprise) and it’s loosely based off the concept of AHS’s Murder House. Bill and his new wife (Susan Brown; his first agent and it’s her bc his wife needs to be a bad person in this fic and I didn’t want to do that to Audra) move into a new home after a devastating miscarriage. That home is the house on Nielbolt, Bill figures some fresh air in a small town would be good for them, maybe also help their failing marriage.

Anyways guess what? The home already has residents. All of the Loser’s and some fun other cameos. Robert Gray is a just a ghost and he was just a human but his death (and what he did) was the catalyst for turning the home into a purgatory for everyone that would die there in later years.

The fic shows Bill and his blossoming friendship turned romance with Stan but they’re really just one of the many stories in this fic. Each of the Loser’s deaths are told- along with some of the cameos- and I’m really proud of the ideas I have for them. Richie’s is probably my favorite bc it adds to his ghost character. Spoiler: it has a lot to do with a pumpkin head. There’s also some side stories featuring their struggles of being stuck in this house.

It's a haunted house story with common themes of child murder/infant death and people making shitty decisions and there's a splash of romance but the main romance is kinda dubious.

stanley is a people watcher

stanley uris is a quiet boy and he's always been the quietest of the losers

it's just something that runs in the uris family, they're very calm and quiet people with a lot of secrets and unspoken words. every time stanley talks more than he should or louder than he should he gets this "be quiet, it's inappropriate" look so stanley just behaves and observes

it's just easier to learn what dad's face looks like when he's silently angry so you don't get scolded, it's just easier to memorize mother's breathing rate when she's annoyed. stanley was a people watcher from a young age because he always had to predict his parents' moods

stanley is a people watcher and it's something that he hates about himself. he knows people too well

he just knows why bev's cheeks turn all red when she's looking at bill he just knows why ben's all sad when he sees bev and bill together he just knows when mike's smile is fake because he's sad and needs extra care he just knows why richie's smile fades when he sees eddie not laughing at his joke he just knows exactly what eddie looks like when he's just pretending to be disgusted by richie ("idiots") and he knows for sure that bill doesn't love him the way he loves bill

stanley is a people watcher and he hates it because no one watches him. because stan is a closed book and most people don't try to go deeper than what they see. they see that he's a calm and quiet boy just like his parents taught him to be and that's okay for everyone

that's why stanley prefer watching birds instead. who knows what's going on in those little minds?

*They're 16. In this au Bill told Mike he's staying in Derry with him so hes not alone these 27 years. Mikes dad hasn't died yet. Warnings of implications of underage sex. But its not graphic.*

Will Hanlon to his wife first thing in the morning: A white boy is cuddling naked with our son in the barns hayloft.

Jessica Hanlon who was making breakfast drops the egg in her hand in surprise, it splats onto the kitchen floor: What?

Will Hanlon: Bill Denbrough, you know one of Mikes friends? Well they're up there in the barn.

*A few moments earlier*

If Mike Hanlon was not in his room, his father usually found him in his hiding spot in the barns hayloft. Mikey would go up there after super. Usually to read, or look through the scrapbook Will gave him. Maybe listen to some music on some of those mixe tapes his friends gave him. He'd been doing that most nights for years, deep thoughts bouncing around in that boys head till he fell into a heavy troubled sleep. Sometimes filled with nightmares, if the mumbles and cries Mike made were anything to go on.

That was the only reason Will Hanlon didn't call out for his son when he went to the barn to get him. He wanted to give his son a few more moments of sleep. He had trouble enough already with it.

So when Will Hanlon climbed up the hayloft latter to go gently wake up his son, he was definitely flabbergasted by what he saw.

A white boy, Bill Denbrough to be precised. Was tangled up with Mike amongst the hay. Laying softly asleep on his chest as if it was the safest place to be. Mike was holding him right back. As if he felt safe too. Tangled up like that (with only a big thick planket made by Mikes grandma keeping them warm and hiding their nakedness. Their clothes thrown carelessly around them) they looked like light and darkness intermingling in peace with one another. Like it was suppose to be. Soft and peaceful. The most peaceful Mike Hanlon has looked a sleep in a long time.

*Back in the kitchen*

Jessica Hanlon: And you just left them like that? You didn't say anything?

Will Hanlon: Well I didn't want to embarrassed the boy. Plus Mike looks so happy.

Jessica hopeful and interested. They both knew how melancholy their son has been lately: Really?

Will Hanlon nods: Really, but this sure is going to bring a lot of trouble to the both them. Especially Mike. You know what people are like. You know what Derry is like.

Jessica Hanlon laughs sadly: That is understatement William.

Jessica Hanlon than becomes a protective mama bear: But its our son. Whatever happens nothing is touching Mike. Either of those boys.

Will Hanlon protective too: Of course.

Jessica turns back the stove: Now onto important business.

Will Hanlon looks at his wife in confusion: ??

Jessica sweet as honey and a bit playful: Think that boy will like to stay for breakfast? As his mother its my duty to tease Mike about his love life. Especially if their doing it like rabbits in the barn.

Will Hanlon laughs and kisses his wife.

*Later a stuttering (even more that usual) and blushing Bill and Mike will have breakfast with Mr and Mrs Hanlon. It will be a funny and sweet little moment. And the happiest Mike and Bill have been for a long time.*
