what if there was a comic that was, on the surface, a very poorly written and made warrior cats comic about one-note characters that leaned heavily into tropes (wc and general ones) all drawn in ms paint, but around 50-60 pages the narrative is shifted wildly off course as instead of the main character meeting the love interest at their first gathering, they instead fuck off and befriend a background cat who was never supposed to fully exist instead. this causes a domino effect of things to happen- like characters forming different relationships than what were planned and personalities developing differently. more and more drastic measures are made by 'starclan' to course correct- until one of their messengers misinterprets their sign and messes up things permanently, causing the two to be aware that none of their world is actually real. though there were plenty of signs beforehand- it was just that one last thing that confirmed it for good.
would that be fucked up or what?
#[cherry on top]#[cats everywhere]#does that synopsis make sense? im hoping it makes sense. hopefully. hm.#anyways. i remembered an idea i got back in dec 2021 and kicked out this in an hour or two#not even into wc that much anymore! i just like developing concepts lol#third image is a bunch of character concepts cus in the original idea doc i only developed goldenpaw and spotpaw#from left to right:#icicleclaw- the tigerclaw replacement lol. was supposed to be the big baddie of the story#overshadowed later by literally all the bullshit that happens which i think is funny#jaggedpaw- brother of goldenpaw and the stereotypical bully. would eventually stand up 4 golden in the climax methinks.#n/a- the 'greystripe' to goldenpaw. starts drifting away from goldenpaw after a bit.#eventually betrays him due to 'starclan's wishes + orders and to follow her mentor (yellowhaze)#streamheart- the love interest. starts developing an actual personality after she doesnt meet goldenpaw lol#peltstar- the leader of the clan spotpaw is in (the mainly irrelevant clan in the story)#flamestar- leader of goldenpaws clan. obvs just a firestar ripoff!!! hes just a nice guy ig.#nearly has a heart attack later in the story due to. things that happen.#darkpaw- son of evil leader in the evil clan equiv. possibly temp. exiled + given the scar to 'toughen him up'#i had the idea of them and streamheart being besties in his exile...#yellowhaze- yellowfang adjacent. is the one who misinterprets the sign.#well technically he didnt misinterpret it at first. he just jumped to the wrong conclusion after goldenpaw jumped in.#theres something wrong with him <3 failboy medicine cat.#also addendum. i dont actually plan on like. actually doing this comic.#it WOULD be cool to do but like. im an idea guy not an actual product guy. T.T''#dont have a long enough attention span or will to go through with a whole comic. unfortunately.

ATLA sexuality headcanons, part 1, Aang's era:
aang
-unlabelled or pansexual, also incredibly gnc. he/they methinks
-he never questioned it, he never thought about it. the air nomads were chill with everything, so he was too.
-he simply loves people, and he loves them deeply. he's the sort of person who says "i love you" very fast. and he doesn't have a specific type, either. he simply connects with people.
-he definitely had a bit of a thing for kuzon back in the day. kuzon taught him all the fire nation dances he knows, and bumi cheered them on.
-he also kinda digged teo, the mechanist's son, but by that point he already had his heart set on katara.
-as for girls, he DID like on-ji. in different circumstances, they would might have dated for a short while. but with katara it was love at first sight. the sort that makes you giddy and stupid.
-he's a lot worse at rizzing up katara because he is just THAT into her and he keeps fumbling
katara
-growing up, she never really questioned it. she knew she definitely liked boys and never had feelings for another girl.
-she's certainly fully cisgender. happily says “she/her/hers” when asked for her pronouns
-on the contrary, she was somewhat attracted to haru and jet both—and might've even considered zuko in different circumstances. like she definitely felt something akin to attraction in the crossroads of destiny.
-she fell in love with aang, because he gave her hope, he gave her joy, he gave her balance. she already felt SOMETHING in the cave of two lovers, but she was deeply confused and her feelings didn't clear until after the war.
-she always thought of herself as straight but said that, if she had the chance, she would be willing to kiss a girl—as an experiment. she just sort of always admired pretty girls, in the sense of "do i wanna BE her or DATE her,"
-and she's really passionate about feminism, obviously
-she always prefers getting compliments from other women because "they're worth mOre"
-eventually she meets jiang who's such a butch lesbian and questions EVERYTHING
-is that a girl? is that a boy? idk but why are they kinda...
-niyok and nutha both give homoerotic friendship vibes with her (all comic specific characters have the combined personality of one person hence why I'm including both)
-since she was dating aang she didn't explore her sexuality, but she discussed it with him and he supported her
-she considered identifying as bi but didn't feel like she qualified, since she'd never actually dated a girl. aang told her it's okay eifher way.
-at the end she decides to keep it all behind closed doors as per water tribe tradition. she's happy with aang, some girls are hot, it's nobody's business but her own.
-i also completely fw the reading of her as a straight cis girl, but you know
sokka
-bisexual, female lean, and maybe even poly.
-he fell for yue, he fell for suki. he definitely found like, ty lee attractive, but he didn't LIKE her. He was involved with suki, and they hadn't had any conversation about the exact status of their relationship so he wasn't about to fumble it.
-suki and him are both bi. and if yue were alive they'd BOTH be dating her. at the same time.
-zuko was sokka's bi awakening. seeing zuko and suki run around in the boiling rock absolutely changed his brain chemistry.
-he had a hard time accepting it, because of how the water tribes roll. he had a preconceived notion of manhood that he obviously had to challenge alongside his initial sexism.
-but then he realised that 1) his dad had been in a secret poly relationship with kya and bato, and then with bato and malina-- 2) his grandma had a fling with hama--3) master piandao and jeong jeongwere a thing--and 4) his girlfriend herself, suki, was bi. so bro had nothing to worry about.
-his identity became clear to him with suki's and his father's help. unlike katara, he was a bit more open and public with it. being poly, him and suki had many opportunities to explore it, always respecting each other's boundaries.
-sometimes suki does his makeup and he grows to enjoy it. he experiments with gender expression until he becomes totally chill with it.
-big part of his character is learning that he doesn't have to be a “man” in the way that patriarchy imposed on him his whole life
-so like, cisn't
toph
-toph has crushes on boys: sokka, zuko, the duke, satoru, sun, kanto. but i think non of them are really legit.
-toph would also flirt with girls, like, yaling
-had a 'not like other girls' phase
-she/they/he vibes, has a very complicated relationship with gender
-because she was made fun off by other girls as a child, it was harder for her to blend in and talk with them
-she was also raised sheltered within the walls of aristocracy which contributed to her not thinking about it
-she avoided commitment and serious relationships like the plague
-so she's unlabelled and perhaps in the aro spectrum. like, demisexual. but being both demi (aka needing to like someone as a person and getting to know them before feeling attracted to them) AND having commitment issues and a bunch of failed relationships is like, a DEADLY combo.
-i don't know. she is chaotic and not at all skilled with romance so she always fumbles it.
-but i also think she might just be 1000% aromantic whether or not she understands it fully
-i think that's very plausible
suki
-bisexual with a female lean and maybe poly
-big she/they vibes
-she's got endless autistic rizz like girl seduced sokka at light speed.
-in kyoshi island they called the bisexuals 'children of kyoshi' and the lesbians 'children of rangi'
-kyoshi island is basically lesbos if you didn't know /hj
-had her first kiss with mingxia before they decided that "ew, never again, i see you like a sister". she was super happy to meet meilin, mingxia's girlfriend
-DEFINITELY liked biyu and they might have been a thing in different circumstances. Aka if biyu hadn't betrayed her.
-would've dated both sokka and yue if yue was alive. like she would have loved yue. both of them having never left their respective homelands. both of them caring about community and having a duty to their people, a leadership position,,,
-but suki being so badass, liberated, free—and yue needing to sacrifice herself to BE free from her oppressive environment,,, like yue would also admire suki so much?? they would love exploring the world together and it'd put sokka out of a very awkward spot-
zuko
-demiromantic, bisexual. like this boy is SOMEWHERE im the ace spectrum but he's also bi. I'd say with a male lean.
-had internalised homophobia growing up, because, duh, fire nation
-he definitely thought that everyone feels like that when he was a child until his mother told him that this was very much NOT the case
-the gaang made him realise that it's totally okay and since they are all so queer he felt very safe with them
-made gay marriage legal in the fire nation
-made pride a thing in the fire nation inspired by the rainbow fire because i said so
-definitely felt attracted to both jet and sokka in the guy department.
-now, when it cames to girls, mai was his childhood crush.
-he definitely found song attractive but he was NOT in that headspace obviously
-same thing with jin although he was in a better headspace then. he introduced jin and song to each other post-war and they dated each other.
yue
-never got the chance to figure out how much girlypop liked women
-i could so easily claim she's a femme lesbian and that sokka was comphet, and I could even CONVINCE ya'll, because he is SO comphet coded, but I really love yue's storyline as it is and the lasting affect it has on sokka,,,,
-i can also imagine her on the ace spectrum
-she's so sapphic she's so queer bro is literally the moON?? what's more sapphic than the moon
-so, whatever, I'll say she's bi with a STRONG female lean. if she'd survived and joined the gaang she would have dated both sokka and suki and i truly believe that
-she would've loved suki and i just KNOW it
-love her so much let my girl be free of her arranged marriage
ty lee
-lesbian or pansexual. was ready to risk it all for mai. also completely down to be in a polycule
-she simply enjoyed male validation and attention due to her unmet childhood emotional needs. the dudes at the beach as well as sokka were giving massive comphet energy.
-i do also accept the possibility of her being pan, that'd be pretty great, but yknow, we do need more lesbians.
-despite being a fire nation citizen i think she'd be pretty open and liberated when it comes to her identity, at least wherever it's safe
-because her own ideology and philosophy is like. pseudo air nomad philosophy so i think she simply doesn't give a shit
-she is really into pride events. she LOVES the parade.
-i think she did have feelings for azula, at least as a child. then it all became really unhealthy,
-still, she felt sad about how things ended with azulw. she genuinely wishes it were different
mai
-she does also give comphet lesbian vibes BUT the "i love zuko more than I fear you" line SLAPS so I'm going to say bisexual with a female lean. she's also definitely asexual—and also demiromantic.
-ADORED ty lee, she just always assumed ty lee would choose azula
-it takes mai a long time to develop feelings for anyone, but when she falls she falls hard
-she's really not a big pride person, but she grows to enjoy it eventually. she goes with zuko and ty lee.
-she's not super vocal about her sexuality, but she also doesn't hide it. she doesn't give a shit. it's her business.
azula
-azula is a lesbian. not debatable like the others, to me.
-her feelings towards ty lee and mai are very reminiscent of sozin's feelings for roku i believe. like iykyk.
-she couldn't remember which of the boys was the one she was supposed to "like," but she remembered perfectly which bikini ty lee and mai were wearing. she picked chan like lesbians pick a random boy to crush on in middle school.
-and then she instesd remembered one of thr gusy who were flirting with either mai or ty lee. bestie was jealous.
-she had comphet, so much comphet. she wanted to be loved.
-so much internalised homophobia.
-she has a type, and it's brunette non benders of similar build. by which i mean ty lee and suki
-the ill will she holds towards mai in her comic for ruining their group over a stUpid BOY-
-it's comical,,
-i love her.
jet
-all the freedom fighters are queer
-jet is probably pansexual or bisexual. and also he/they
-he had a thing for katara but he sure as hell also had a thing for zuko
-he punches homophobes in the face
-i never liked jet when i was a kid because he was a jerk and i hated him with katara, but i grew to really enjoy his character and his arc
-this boy wants to eat the rich
-he doesn't want gay marriage, he wants to abolish marriage
smellerbee
-transfem ICON, she/her, though generally gender non conforming.
-and she's also also aromantic and asexual.
-queer platonic relationship with longshot, because of how deeply they love and understand and support each other
-if you misgender her on purpose the whole group will gang up on you and by the end of it you'll have four broken limbs and they'll be arrested for aggravated assault
longshot
-he's aromantic and asexual but he's got unmatched non-verbal autistic rizz
-as i said, QPR with smellerbee
-but all the freedom fighters plan to keep living together forever,, they're found family
-him and smellerbee just have a particularly special bond
the duke
-the duke is pansexual, i think
-i think he had a crush on toph
-also he/they
-and that's about all I've got
pipsqueak
-he/they/she
-pipsqueak's literally his chosen name, nothing cisgender about that,
-gay
sneers
-transmasc, he/they, potentially genderfluid
-dating kori who is bi
haru
-bisexual, female lean
-he/they, potentially genderfluid
teo
-gay, crush on aang
jin and song
-jin is pansexual, would definitely date song who is a lesbian
-zuko introduces them!!
uncle iroh
-straight ally. women are great! big womaniser back in his day.
-loves gay people
-huge support for zuko coming out
-that being said, he wasn't ALWAYS an ally. like he wasn't homophobic either, but he didn't support queer people before lu ten came out to him. then he accepted it, because he loved his son. finally, travelling the world and studying different philosophies led him to be a great ally.
-then he became the biggest ally ever amd a huge advocate for queer rights
-on a similar note, lu ten was gay. ozai was straight. zhao was straight and azulon was probably also straight. just getting them out of the wAy.
piandao
-gay gay gay. likes men.
-him and jeong jeong as a salty judgmental old couple is so real
-also everyone knows about it but nobody dares to give him shit for it
-he just glares and you immediately get off his back
-he could get himself a husband and nobody in the fire nation would do anything to stop him because they literally cannot arrest him
-he'll just shut the door on their face
jeong jeong
-also gay. big gay.
-tons of internalised homophobia, bless him
-tons of self hatred
-like, the way he sees his firebending as a curse of destruction and hatred and hates himself for it—instead of seeing all the colours of the dragons' rainbow fire, like zuko and aang, who symbolise the new generation
-it can work so well as a queer self-acceptance metaphor
-he definitely ends up with piandao, as i said before. begrudgingly in love.
hama
-lesbian. privately, as per water tribe tradition.
-nobody in the south gives her shit for it.
-she definitely had a relationship with kanna.
-when she lived in the fire nation, things were different. living as her authentic self was impossible—even secretly, it became near-impossible.
-hama's life is one big tragedy.
pakku
-straight. initially homophobic as per water tribe conservatism. the sort of, "just don't shove it in my face" homophobia
-but upon realising that like, both his friend group and his wife are incredibly queer, he gets over it
-iroh helps with educating him
-it's also canon that zuko gives the southern water tribe custody of hama after the war which i find incredibly sweet
-but since hama and kanna were... tight, I find myself incredibly entertained imagining possible interactions between pakku and hama
kanna (gran gran)
-kanna was bisexual.
-in the time she spent traveling from the north to the south she slept with a bunch of people
-fire nation pirates, sand bender bandits, earth kingdom soldiers... hakoda's father is a mystery. a mama mia situation.
-other flings include the herbalist, probably, (all old people know each other)
-even madame wu, why not?
-like it entertains me to think that kanna was unhinged the moment she left the Northern Water Tribe
-and being a non bender she used all tools at her disposal to reach the south if you know what i mean
-that being said, she also learned to fight a bit. probably. just to spite pakku.
-when she reached the south, she had a thing with hama. i say this because of the kataang parallel when hama was taken away.
hakoda and bato
-hakoda is bi, bato is gay
-hakoda loved kya, bato loved him secretly and never told him
-after kya died, bato was his only comfort, they fell in love
-once malina enters the situation too, it eventually ends up being a polycule
-note that i strongly dislike malina and those comics

Kitten.
When you decided to prank Eddie and turn him into a certified cat boy, you couldn't have imagined what happened next.
content/warnings: +18 | sub bottom cat hybrid eddie x soft dom top male reader | smut | fluff | it's silly kinda | unprotected sex | anal sex | breeding kink | praise kink | slight feminisation | eddie just needs some love, the poor baby | tiniest mention of venom, sorry
notes: this originally was a long fic (around 4k... unfinished...) but methinks people don't really fuck with long fics so i decided to post only the smut (>﹏<) it explained how eddie turned into a kitty kat and etc, plus contained lots of fluff cuz im a sucker for that!! but yeahhh i gave up. also. eddie is wearing a collar with a little bell cuz wahh!!! he's just!!!! too cute!!!!!! ive got this idea for a while now so enjoy ig?!?!?!?!?!
Tumblr media
Approaching the half-closed door, you could hear your name between needy whimpers. You opened the door with a smirk on your face and Eddie didn't even notice you. Eddie's head was down and his ass up in the air while he fingered himself, the wet noises sounding like music to you — his hands slid under one of your shirts that he was wearing and began playing with his own chest, whimpering louder when he pinched his nipples. Eddie's tail was raised too; a sign that a cat is ready to mate.
Lord, have mercy on thy son.
"Oh, Eddie, aren't you a sight for sore eyes?"
Your voice snapped Eddie out of it. He switched positions in the blink of an eye and now he was sitting up, eyes wide and face flustered as he squeezed his thighs together in a poor attempt to hide what you had already seen, looking at you as if he'd rather face Satan himself at the moment.
"It's okay, you don't need to feel embarrassed." You held his hand and pressed a soft kiss on it. "My friend told me you're in heat, just like a cat."
"H-heat?"
"That's right. Your body should calm down after mating a couple times." You put a hand on his cheek, using the other to interlace your fingers with his. "I can help you, if you'd like? But of course you don't have to do anything you don't want, dear. We can always find another solution."
"N-no, please," he rubbed his face against your palm, trying to feel the most of your caresses. "Need you."
He would be the death of you one of these days.
"Alright, sweetie." You kissed the corner of his lips. "As much as I love to see you in my clothes, don't you think this shirt is gonna get in our way? Um? Let's take it off."' You grabbed the hem of the shirt, lifted it over his head and tossed it aside somewhere. Getting up, you began taking your own shirt off. "Now, hands under your knees."
Your cock throbbed inside your pants as you watched Eddie pulling his legs up, those thick thighs touching his chest with ease, exposing his already well-stretched hole with lube dripping out of it. His fully hard cock was in a similar state, wet with pre-cum and lube, and his balls looked so ready to get squeezed.
Fuck, you really needed to fuck him into oblivion.
"Such a good princess for me." You licked your lips, admiring the sight before you. His tail quivered. "I'm gonna breed you so well. You'd like that, wouldn't you? To get pregnant, full of my babies."
Eddie almost melted on the spot over the idea, his fluffy ears upright while he attentively listened to what you'd do to him soon. He couldn't bring himself to say anything, so he nodded eagerly instead, the bell on his neck tinkling. You chuckled, pulling down your pants and boxers.
"Of course you do, princess." You finished undressing and leaned over him, inhaling his addicting scent. "Sorry for making you wait, love."
Wrapping his arms around your neck, Eddie moaned in your mouth when you kissed him while your hands landed on his hips and squeezed them. You bit and sucked on his lips, craving that sweet taste you'd never get tired of. Finishing the kiss, you wasted no time in putting your mouth to work again as you sucked his already hard nipple, a hand now playing with his other nipple, occasionally grabbing the mass around it. Making sure not a single inch of that perfect chest was neglected, you know.
Eddie felt so hot that for a while he thought he'd burst into flames anytime your hands stopped touching his body, even if for no more than five seconds. God, was he horny. Your tip just touched his hole, as if teasing him, and Eddie didn't know if that was on purpose or not but shit, he was impatient. Grinding his ass against your cock, he moaned, "H-hurry up… can't wait… any longer…"
"I know you want it, kitten, but I also know you can wait just a little more. I taught you well, didn't I? Let me show you some love first."
You bit Eddie's shoulder, not enough to hurt, just to leave an ownership mark you knew your princess would like to look at later — you had to fight the urge to rip off the collar and have full access to his neck once again, but you kept your cool because he looked so cute wearing that. Instead, you palmed his aching cock and stroked it at a slow pace, taking your own sweet time to trace those veins your fingerprints already had memorised; that earned you a groan from the irritated kitten beneath you, who didn't know if he should move his hips to meet your strokes or grind his ass on your hardness, wordlessly asking you to just stop the crap and fuck him already.
"My kitten is just too needy, um? Alright, let's have it your way this one time."
Eddie let out a loud, satisfied moan when you finally began burying your cock inside him, not as fast as he wanted but he could feel every inch of your cock slowly stretching him out and for that he was grateful — Venom was probably saying something in his mind about how weird and mildly pathetic humans were with their mating habits, but Eddie's mind was too foggy to understand or even give a shit. Then you abruptly pulled out, but before Eddie could protest, you shoved it all again in one go.
Eddie's teary eyes widened and saliva ran down his chin, "Fuck—"
You felt a sticky, hot fluid hitting your stomach and you didn't even need to look down to see what it was; you couldn't help but grin, looking at your boyfriend. "Eddie, did you just cum only because I slammed my cock inside you? Sometimes I forget my princess is really just a cock slut."
Eddie whimpered, his face looking impossibly red, and closed his eyes, burying his face in the crook of your neck. You chucked, not really expecting an answer, and began moving at a more-slow-than-fast, steady pace. The wet sounds that echoed in the room each time your skin met combined with Eddie's whines almost drove you insane.
You kept pounding Eddie just right, he didn't even mind the slight discomfort in his overstimulated cock, only bringing himself to plead, "More, please, more."
Always eager to do as he wishes, you began increasing your pace, thrusting deeper and deeper, just the way you knew Eddie liked. Tinkle, tinkle, tinkle. He was sobbing in your ear and digging his claws into your skin — and you loved knowing that would leave marks. Then you noticed something very interesting.
"Would you look at that, kitten…" you grabbed Eddie's hand and put it atop of his own lower abdomen, making him feel the bulge there each time you thrusted. "See how deep I am? Does it feel good, princess?"
Eddie only nodded rapidly, his mind only half conscious now. He could only concentrate on how good your cock felt repeatedly hitting his sweet spot.
"No, no, not like that. I want you to tell me how good you feel. I know you can do that, kitten."
"It's — ah!— so good… I'm so full. Ahh~ f-faster, please?"
"Anything for my obedient princess." You kissed his cheek and said, "Wrap your legs around my waist and hold on tight."
Eddie complied and immediately you changed your pace to a faster, harder and even deeper one, feeling Eddie's claws now digging across your back. You moved your head to nibble on his neck, leaving small bites and hickeys all over his skin, and one of your hands travelled to his cock in order to give it attention once again.
"You're taking me so well, princess. Your perfect body is all mine, even your tight hole was made to fit my cock so beautifully," you praised Eddie as you stroked him with the same pace of your thrusts. "Such a good kitten. That's right, keep moaning in my ear like a cute princess."
"[Name]!" Eddie broke down once he came again, sobbing as heavy tears fell down his face, and hugged you tighter. "D-deep! You're so deep!"
Eddie's tears made you almost dizzy. Holy fuck, how could he be so freaking perfect?
"Shit—" you panted, "I'm gonna cum. Okay, kitten? And you're gonna take it all until there's nothing left and you're all full of my babies, because you're gonna be such an amazing mamma. Ain't that right, dear?"
"Goddamn, yes." Eddie's pretty face was wet with tears, his pink lips also wet and swollen, and you could see his fangs as he let out the cutest moan ever escape. Then he opened his glossy eyes and fixed his lovey-dovey gaze on you, "I promise to be the best mamma to our babies."
That did it. You tightened the grip on his waist and pushed him against you, giving one last deep thrust before reaching your climax, feeling him clenching around your cock as you proceeded to fill him up with your seed. Your grip on his waist remained strong, locking you both together and not allowing a single drop of cum to leak out of his hole before you properly breed him.
Eddie was limp in your arms, still letting out a few more tears as you held him close before calming down. You smiled fondly at the sight, loving how cute he was.
"You're so pretty. My pretty princess." You peppered  his face with kisses, feeling the salty taste of his tears on your lips. "I love you so much."
Eddie's mind was still foggy but yet he gave a cosy smile, managing to mumble, "I love you too."
Afterwards you made Eddie drink some water and showered him with praises, making sure he was alright — that, of course, until Eddie started begging you to fuck him once again, because he was still a needy kitty in heat.

Bitter Work
Life took me out at the knees for a couple of weeks but I'm back! I'm hoping this is a nice restful episode after the relentlessness of The Chase.
I have to say, Toph's nicknaming skills are on point. I never would have thought of Sugarqueen, but it fits perfectly.
Tumblr media
This is me. Every morning.
Tumblr media
Full nose plant from Appa.
And the beat up Sokka quota is fulfilled. Very funny Toph, but completely uncalled for. If someone had catapulted teenage me 50 feet into the air while I was trying to sleep, it would have been fully justifiable homicide.
Aang is always trying to run before he can walk. What was Iroh always saying to Zuko about basics? Aang needs that speech too.
I was really on the ball in my post about how airbenders aren't homicidal, actually. Rock is a stubborn element. Yay me!
Aang earthbends = Earth bends Aang.
Seriously, how did he mess up that badly?
Tumblr media
Cozy.
Thank you Zuko for the incredibly obvious exposition that's somehow completely in character. Interesting to see that Iroh and his son had brown hair, but Zuko seems to have black hair. More hair variety in the Fire Nation than I thought.
Tumblr media
Tangent time! I love the contrast in social intelligence (I guess that's the term?) in this scene. Zuko wakes Iroh up with an infodump, some bad tea, and then gets straight to discussing strategy. Iroh's first actions are to compliment the bad tea, then dispose of the refill in a way that won't hurt Zuko's feelings (probably not necessary, as Zuko seems to be the type that's oblivious to all things other than the task at hand when he's focused). Iroh, injured and awake for all of 15 seconds, jumps straight to actions that help look after his nephew. And Zuko is trying! That's why he made tea! But still, he doesn't even ask if his uncle's feeling ok. Zuko has such a massive gap in his education - he can probably reel off the specs of all Fire Nation battleships, but he doesn't know how to be a human person. Contrast that with Iroh, and especially Katara, who makes friends and connections with such aggressive forwardness that she's at times more steamroller than teenage girl. It's funny how privilege plays into this too - Zuko comes from probably the single most privileged (on paper) family in the world, yet it's the children of the impoverished water tribe who have the more well-rounded education/socialisation.
"She's crazy and she needs to go down" go a full belly laugh out of me.
"What if I came at the boulder from a different angle?" Jesus I was REALLY on point with my post about the airbenders. Credit where credit is due, this show has such good writing/worldbuilding that viewers have picked up what Toph is laying out in this episode already. Also a little bit of stealth character work in there - since Toph is putting into words what we've been thinking this whole time, she now reads as trustworthy. This show is so good. So thought out.
Tumblr media
Maybe it's just VLC being weird, but methinks Katara is having some trouble with her eyeball.
Katara STOP BABYING HIM. This is why I don't like Aang having a crush on her.
Honestly it's refreshing to have Toph giving it to Aang straight, no softening the blows.
Tumblr media
I really like this texture.
Sokka's club is a giant bottle opener. Or at least a multitool.
ROCK SUITS
wait
ELEMENTAL FASHION
oh this is going to be haybending all over again.
They are totally going to have to nerf this girl. She could defeat the Fire Lord right now.
Tumblr media
Earth beats water tribe
Tumblr media
Someome who knows more about tea than I do: Why are both pots necessary?
"requires peace of mind" well that's out. Sorry Zuko, we'll have to get you a taser instead.
"So we're drinking tea to calm down?" "not it's to get the nasty ass taste of the sludge you brewed out of my mouth. I mean yes." For what's looking like an extended training montage, this episode is far funnier than it needs to be.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I pretty much don't notice Zuko's scar anymore (it's just part of his character design) then every so often a certain frame of animation will come out of the blue and remind me that this kid's missing half his face. I don't know if it's intentional on the part of the animators, but his scar is prominent this episode.
So it sounds like bending lightning actually corresponds with how lightning in our world works. Neat.
In an absolutely Shocking turn of events (pun absolutely intended), Zuko fucks it up. Fucking shit up: the autobiography of a Fire Prince. Has a nice ring to it.
Tumblr media
Toph I know you go hard, but maybe apply a sense of proportion to this?
It kind of looks like Aang's about to be run over by a giant scoop of caramel ice cream.
Toph is such an interesting mishmash of bluntness and emotional intelligence. I don't think I've seen a character like that before.
Zuko being self aware for once! Everything always does explode in his face. Except when he's being the Blue Spirit. Seems he's more capable then.
It's a tragedy that this boy wasn't around for the emo movement. He would have single-handedly sustained Hot Topic.
Zuko going "WHAT TURMOIL?!?!?" is like Katara going "I'M COMPLETELY CALM!!!!!" last episode. Also got a laugh out of me.
"I'm as proud as ever." OF WHAT?!?!? What could he possibly be proud of? He's a homeless fugitive with a stolen horse bird and a half-dead uncle that he can't even properly brew tea for. The self-delusion is strong.
Is pride the source of shame? Honest question, I don't know.
There's a surprising variety of trees in this part of the Earth Kingdom. Where Zuko and Iroh are there are fluffly hardwoods, probably deciduous; Toph's training ground is ringed by cartoon pines.
Tumblr media
This whole bit is too cute for words.
"Now come back boomerang" This is a training episode, it's not supposed to be this funny!
Are there voice acting awards? Like voice acting oscars? Sokka's actor needs one. Or several.
I should have waited to answer the ask about airbenders and just copy pasted Iroh's speech here. Except for the water = change bit. That doesn't make sense.
What can I possibly say about Iroh's speech? It's the thesis for this show in a single paragraph.
Tumblr media
Pretty.
Are characters' eyes a different shape this episode? Aang's eyes change colour all the time, but everyone's eyes seem more cat-like.
I do love me some constructive bullying.
Sokka is so refreshingly self-aware while still totally oblivious. He is meat and sarcasm, but he's so much more!
"Have you got any meat?" He said that in an Irish accent.
"You're gonna pull my fingers off and I don't think the rest of me is coming!" Do you ever come across a sentence that is so obviously an innuendo that your brain trips over itself trying to decipher it?
Sokka's hair must be so fluffy. It's got so much volume.
Why can't he go get Toph? I think being stuck in a hole outranks avoiding an awkward encounter.
FOO FOO CUDDLYPOOPS
"You must not let the lightning pass through your heart, or the damage could be deadly." Foreshadowing?
Today in 'things Zuko thinks it's acceptable, nay, expected, for parental figures to do' - attempted murder as a teaching method! What went on in that palace?
Is this the closest Sokka's come to dying?
Tumblr media
He's earthbending the air! Doing air but earthlike. You know what I mean.
Tumblr media
I thought she was levitating.
Tumblr media
Toph is so smart. She does the airbender thing and comes at the problem from a different angle. Telling Aang to stand up for himself doesn't work? Fine. Let's bully him into standing up for himself. And it works!
This episode's MVP is Sokka's patience.
"You tried the positive reinforcement, didn't you?" uhhhhh sure!
Tumblr media
Appa getting vengeance for Sokka. Nice.
Tumblr media
Theatre kids.
I wish Zuko would just have the breakdown he's obviously hurtling towards so we can get started on the rebuilding arc. Every time I think he's a rock bottom, he keeps digging.
Luten is Katara. Let's not read too far into that one.
Final Thoughts
I defy any episode from this point on to fulfill the Beat Up Sokka Quota as thoroughly as this one did.
In a lesser show, the 'Aang learns earthbending episode' would have had Aang & Toph as the A-plot, and Sokka & Katara doing something completely unrelated as a b-plot, and probably no Zuko at all. Sokka does have his own thing going on this episode, but the fact that they managed to weave in both water tribe siblings so organically is so satisfying. Of course a team member struggling to learn a new skill would seek out his friends. Of course his friends are in the area, observing the lesson to varying degrees. It feels so much more real to have the characters who aren't 'useful' that episode still there, rather than conveniently absent.
Zuko was very Zuko this episode. He's correct that he needs more training for his inevitable next encounter with Zuko jr., but Iroh is also correct that Zuko is a bundle of issues held together by a different bundle of issues. Not to jinx it, but I thought I detected a hint of self-awareness from Zuko this episode, although it seems to have occurred despite his best efforts to suppress it.
Iroh's Zuko-wrangling skills were sharp this episode, despite being injured. And his wisdom was off the charts. Zuko was also not as annoying as I usually find him, and unlike in Zuko Alone where I found his quieter self to be out of character, it fit this episode. Maybe he's turned over a new, quieter, leaf? I loved "she's crazy and she needs to go down" both as a joke and as a statement. Shared blood doesn't trump someone's actions, and I'm glad to see a show meant for kids acknowledge that. Although, given that this show has no problem depicting objectively BAD parents and families, I can't say I'm surprised.
In a testament to Jack de Sena's skill, Sokka get a soliloquy this episode and pulls it off flawlessly. Kudos to the animation team for making Sokka's face fit the words so well. Double kudos for whoever had the balls to approve 'stick Sokka in a hole and put an apex predator on his head to force self-reflection' as a plotline.
There was a lot of exposition from a lot of different characters this episode, but it's mostly unnoticeable. It just makes sense that that's what they would be talking about at that point in time.
I think I said it above, but I'll say it again: the worldbuilding in this show is phenomenally well done. How do I know this? Because I was able to construct most of Iroh's monologue before watching this episode, just by paying attention. This show rewards focus and attentiveness. (Almost) nothing that Iroh said was not something the audience has already observed for themselves. Not heard, but observed. That 'show, don't tell' thing.
This episode was way funnier than it needed to be too. Not just the obvious stuff like *inhales*
FOO FOO CUDDLYPOOPS
but tiny one-liners buried mid-conversation and character interactions too. Momo turning into a reed didn't have to be there, but it was, and it was funny. It wasn't exactly restful, but it was a relief to have an episode that really didn't move around after The Chase.
What I like most about this episode was that it went farther than it had to. This was a training episode. It could have been just training. Anyone familiar with training episodes would expect just training, and be satisfied with just training. But Avatar said 'nope, we'll do better than that' and organically incorporated a heap of character stuff, worldbuilding from multiple perspectives, humour, multiple characters undergoing self-reflection, the next step in the domestication of Zuko, what I'm hoping wasn't a heap of foreshadowing, and pretty backgrounds as the cherry on top. They didn't have to go so hard, but Avatar always goes hard. I like that.

I hope you have a wonderful autism today :3
!! Thank you!!
My Ziio fixation has returned with a vengeance lately so indeed I’m having a fun time
Lemme share some headcanons for today methinks (some may or may not relate to my personal ac3 adaptation)
Undiagnosed adhd. Like she has big time adhd but not many successful ways to channel it n she stimulates herself most with her hands (rope work, making snares, beading, twirling or doing whatever with her knife, fiddling w the hem n fringes of her clothes etc)
In her heyday in modern au she’s definitely a punk
She got her freckles from her dad
Her combat greatly incorporates rope work and she’s a bit of a traps expert (the affinity for ropes later is subconsciously mirrored with Connor’s use of the shengbiao/rope dart)
Getting this out of the way, her thing with Haytham was a one night stand and they didn’t make any plans to move in together or start a new life (she found his journal and realized he’s . Kind of a weirdo Templar) . Sorry Forsaken. (Also probably moving the kiss out of the cave temple for personal ick reasons)
She grew up very “one of the boys” ish. Lovessss wrestling n making competitions of things and hates losing. Probably also “the weird kid” if you wanna put a modern lens on it.
She was hell to raise by Oiá:ner. She’s very headstrong and it’s hard to reel her in/she wasn’t sure what to do with Ziio half the time. Their relationship gets more strained as she becomes an adult and as the war starts though, but they still have a very strong bond and love for each other despite everything. In the end they both care so much about safety and protecting each other.
Oiá:ner sees way too much of Ziio in Ratonhnhaké:ton. Especially in his pursuit of risky/radical change and calling to outside the village
Don’t wanna give away too much yet but the Southgate Fort captives-freeing mission is VERY different and sets Haytham more at odds with her
Loud snort-laughter
It was very difficult for her to re acclimate to a more secure (mundane) life in the village when she finally came back home and secured their safety in the 7 years war. It just. Feels wrong not doing anything. Not making change. (Made harder by the fact she’s barred from becoming a clan mother)
Her and Kanen’tó:kon’s mother are close friends (maybe cousins?), and Ratonhnhaké:ton was raised by em after she died
Polyglot (multiple indigenous languages since she had to help rally non-haudenosaunee forces for the prologue, English, and French. Has no respect for the French language)
Has a tendency to save others before saving herself (Connor unknowingly repeats this— due to survivor’s guilt based in trauma, and so the cycle repeats)
Born some time in the winter (I’m thinking December? December 14 or something. Which makes her a Sagittarius I guess go figure.) I also intend this to be a callback to her name and how I associate her with snow since her most memorable scenes take place during that season in that weather imo
Big appetite high metabolism I got no reason tbh
Has two separate books within her in the aftermath of the prologue— one specifically for teaching Ratonhnhaké:ton English and one to record her own thoughts and feelings in like a journal.
She figures with how the world is changing with further interactions with colonists that her son should learn English sooner than later as a means of protection as well as being an inevitability on her eyes
But also yeah Haytham having a journal and learning abt his ulterior motives is. A lot. But when she meets Achilles and he recommended her be able to vent somewhere when things become too much he recommended a book like that of sorts so yeah (and that’s probably what Connor was reading in the beginning of his sequence— maybe he mistook it for his English-book n was trynna do his mom proud n accidentally found Haytham lore instead)
Connor learned to swear from her at a young age and she . Did not. Anticipate that or meant to do that.
A lot of the times she feels super unfit to be a mother. She was a good mom tho

*runs up to you* thoughts on burakhovsky marriage? 🎤🎤🎤
Honey if you knew!!!! I'll try to make it quick because I'm making sims so typing over my laptop put on front of my keyboard (complicated). Actually let me do Wedding. Marriage is them exactly the same but post-that. And sleeping in the same bed under boddhos hospices but hopefully not her watchful eye.
Tldr yes. dankovsky has been 🙄🙄 about marriage his whole life out of the feeling of religious alienation for being gay + generally a contrarian + able to recognize the misogyny inherent to marriage as a religious institution which made him go [before he knew he was gay] well if I met a woman I wouldn't want to marry her that's cruel [literally doesn't matter he's gay]  + generally a liker of freedom inclined to dislike institutions. But also he never had an actual relationship before so his ass didn't care before. And also by virtue of being a marriage between two men, the religious (and tbf secular societal) misogyny of the woman being "passed down" from the father's to the husband's "property" to go from domestic labor in her parents house to domestic sexual and reproductive labor in her husbands Literally doesn't apply to them because gay wedding.
I think his mom is overjoyed at marrige she always wanted him to have a nice wedding so she's very happy. she's a bit nervous because he's marrying in a culture she doesn't know much about (and vice-versa for burakh tbf) and she's ankchus at how ceremony will go.
Dankovskys side of fhe family brings to the ceremony Armenian [mothers side] & Georgian [dads] traditions [not listing bc making it short so I can.go back to my sims] also dankovsky in chokha please. ooooh please. for his weddig day.
they need A Bunch of meetings with wardens and the brides (all that participate in the ceremony) to adjust the usual wedding traditions to like. two guys. esp. for the Kin traditions as motherhood - birth - rebirth are very important within that culture and like Not Happening Here Sorry. so a bunch of bits and pieces are rearranged, I'd imagine like blessings for the bride for beautiful children and safe childbirth are scraped and everyone is scratching their heads at what to replace them with [they end up finding its fine]. while it's not the first time the Kin has an out gay couple among them [duh] it's the first time its a Warden son of Menkhu and they have to make a big deal out of it. Methinks ceremony includes painting sigils on each others wrists and the herb brides bricker with Oyun like "oh my god you can keep that one it doubles as a potency charm" and burakh and dankovsky sitting there are just boiling inside [I drew an image of it once I did I did]
also dankovskys mom insists burakh and those who can stand in as family come drink the tea with them and share his intention to ask for her sons hand in marriage [even after having asked dankovsky + neither of them care about parents permission, it's exclusively to please dankovskys family esp his mam who's taking that from lhosk-arnel tradition]
Ceremony also includes stepping out to the steppe for private vows while the assembly turns around and coming back. then usually groom carries brides on a beautiful bull he'd have tame to the bridal house (typically honeymoon destination). dankovsky has to explain to his father who already struggled with him being gay earlier on in his life that "I'm not sitting on the bull because I'm the woman of the relationship, I'm sitting on the bull because I'm scared of it and it could crush my foot under its hoof" and his dad kind of looks at him a little fearful.
mom brings honeycakes. rubin burakhs best man/whatever they're called, peter is dankovsky, and he keeps making big wet eyes at rubin the whole ceremony (watch out)

The Beryl Coronet Part 1 - Notes!
I'm having a lazy Sunday morning so I'm going to luxuriously type out my thoughts while I'm reading today's letter! I'm especially excited because I don't think I've properly read this one.
bow-window looking down the street
I have however read this little nugget of detail because I tried to find any and all descriptions of Baker Street for a game I'm making (The Beekeeper's picnic, you can wishlist it on Steam if you like...)
In a different story it's described as having a bay window. Both bow windows and bay windows project from the exterior wall. Bow windows usually have more panes of glass to make a smooth outward curve.
Both are also fiendishly difficult to convey when you're working with 320x130 pixels.
Tumblr media
“Holmes,” said I as I stood one morning in our bow-window looking down the street, “here is a madman coming along. It seems rather sad that his relatives should allow him to come out alone.”
Outdated attitudes towards mental health aside, I think it's sweet that Watson is able to see someone in distress at a distance and immediately find it sad nobody is looking out for him. His doctorly instincts are aroused!
Sherlock Holmes pushed him down into the easy-chair and, sitting beside him, patted his hand and chatted with him in the easy, soothing tones which he knew so well how to employ.
Likewise, Holmes is knows by now how to handle someone in distress. There's a really sweet illustration of this moment by Josef Friedrich
Tumblr media
We have done a good deal in this direction during the last few years, and there are many noble families to whom we have advanced large sums upon the security of their pictures, libraries, or plate. “‘It is absolutely essential to me,’ said he, ‘that I should have £50,000 at once.
B-b-b-Blackmail, methinks. Either that or this is some kind of scam on the bank (perhaps they upfront the money for the coronet but never receive it, or receive a fake) But since we're apparently dealing with a famous notable person, I don't think that's going to be it)
‘You have doubtless heard of the Beryl Coronet?’
There has already been a mountain of discussion about coronets in the LfW server - what precisely it is, how the word is pronounced, the etymology...
I'd always thought a coronet was something like this - basically a tiara but a little more gender-neutral!
Tumblr media
Turns out it's actually a small crown which has a top to it.
Tumblr media
“‘I should be happy to advance it without further parley from my own private purse,’ said I, ‘were it not that the strain would be rather more than it could bear.
I really hope this is just lip service and he wouldn't have really done that. Please Mr Holder, don't lend clients your own money! I feel he's being set up here, either by the narrative or by this Mysterious Notable Man.
I determined, therefore, that for the next few days I would always carry the case backward and forward with me, so that it might never be really out of my reach.
I just want to sit all Sherlock Holmes characters down and give them a long lecture about how the most vulnerable time for any precious or valuable object is when it is in transit. Also the the bureau of your dressing-room is not actually more secure than a safe at London's second largest bank.
Another, Lucy Parr, the second waiting-maid, has only been in my service a few months.
She gets a name, and is therefore Suspicious.
I could not trust him in the handling of large sums of money. When he was young he became a member of an aristocratic club, and there, having charming manners, he was soon the intimate of a number of men with long purses and expensive habits
Libertine son Arthur is also Suspicious.
Twice my boy has asked her to marry him, for he loves her devotedly, but each time she has refused him.
...... they're cousins? Right? I mean they are cousins. Not just cousins, but she's been adopted by his father. Right?!
I thought that first-cousin marriage was a bit of an eyebrow-raiser at this time even though it did happen sometimes.
Where are the jewels which you have stolen?’ “‘Stolen!’ he cried. “‘Yes, thief!’ I roared, shaking him by the shoulder. ‘There are none missing. There cannot be any missing,’ said he.
Ok, I think that was actually a "Stolen?!" and he's as surprised as anyone. The beryls were already gone by the time he got there. I'm sure Lucy's disappearance has something to do with it!
at the sight of the coronet and of Arthur's face, she read the whole story and, with a scream, fell down senseless on the ground.
I feel bad for laughing at this.
I am enjoying this one SO MUCH so far! The missing item genre of Sherlock Holmes story is one of my favorites, and so far we've had a really tense tragic narrative with lots of complexity.
I am a little worried that this story isn't a well known one and so perhaps it's a bit of a flop towards the end - but who knows, perhaps it's appropriately a hidden gem!

Do you think Ryuuken and Kanae really did loving each other romantically? I mean, Kanae was obviouslu devoted to him, but in your opinion how about Ryuuken? Is it possibly a half-hearted relationship that ended up as a marriage, because Ryuuken was kinda lost in such a painful situation?
"Ryuuken was kinda lost in such a painful situation" pretty much describes him throughout Bleach, doesn't it? Girl he was supposed to marry out of arrangement but he had feelings for gets attacked by a hollow, barely makes it out alive thanks to a bizarre spiritual move, marries a shinigami and then dies. Women he loves and becomes the mother of his child falls into a comma and dies. He tries to keep his kid away from the warring-troubles with the worst approach to it, and his estranged son befriends the shinigami-hollow-quincy-human who happens to be the son of the girl he liked and the shinigami she married, and now they have to join forces to defeat the quincy-king who is responsible for both women's deaths. OOF. Anyway, onto the ask:
I should start by saying that I am not exactly a Ryuuken deep-diver... but this ask does seem like a great opportunity to dive a tiny bit more, so thank you for this ✨-- i had a lot of fun writing this, so brace yourself !
Do I think that he loved Kanae? Yes, and I believe it was a whole-hearted relationship; despite of Ryuuken's terrible emotional aloofness and inability to express himself.
This is something to keep in mind: we know that Ryuuken is not good with expressing/receiving affection, as we have seen from how he handled things with his son. His feelings for Masaki were also ill-expressed; they only manifest in an angst-filled situation when her life is in danger and he resents his powerlessness (even though he was young, Kubo's message about his character seems pretty consistant).
And to make matters worse, we don't have any glimpses on how Ryuuken and Katagiri got together; all we know is that Masaki left the Ishida house, which was (according to Isshin) the decisive move for Ryuuken to detach himsel, and a few years later, Ryuuken and Kanae are married and with child. This may have some angst bittersweet taste to it, but this was actually a good thing. The Ryuuken/Masaki possibility got scrapped during EBTR - letting Masaki go was a post-fact liberating act for everyone involved, so I don’t think that Ryuuken got “stuck” in his feelings for Masaki. They grew up, life went on.
But let’s dig for his and Kanae’s bond.
The nobility quincy nonsense makes it clear that Katagiri is a servant, but we have these indications that Ryuuken saw their rapport in a different light. When he talks about his mother and Masaki, he seems to confide in her - something that his character would not do if she was, in fact, “just a servant”. On the fateful events, one could say that he told her to follow him when he went after Masaki because it was her duty; but Ryuuken knew Masaki was breaking the rules. It would have been wiser to a) just send someone - Katagiri alone, for instance - but Masaki would suffer the consequences for it, or b) go by himself, that way he would guarantee to be the only one to know about it. Yet he takes Katagiri, and he is certain she will “follow his order” because he is trusting her, and this is my impression of it, but he trusts her in a more intimate manner than just duty-bound procedures. I say this because of *this* reaction:
Tumblr media
He could have yelled at her, he could have just trapped her with the arm next to her, but he pins her wrist with his hand against the wall (I mean... come on!!... anyhow, I have come to over focus on hands, blame Kubo for his narrative style)  -- and their clashing eye contact after is really more than a master-servant relationship, methinks. Later that night, Ryuuken may try to deflect it and re-center them around formalities, but Kanae refuses to do so and exposes her feelings. Now, even though his “that’s enough” does seem cold, it seems to me that part of him, the part that tells her “let’s come back home” is actually accepting a) Kanae’s feelings, and b) his own (late) confirmation that this person right there is not just another formality, that the trust he built around her so far was not just based on quincy-duties, but on genuine affection.
Onto speculation now, but there is another issue: Katagiri is considered “inferior”. From what we gathered so far about his family, it feels safe to assume his mother and/or other authorities (?) were not fond of the idea of her marrying into the Ishida family. Ryuuken probably went through some trouble to solidify their relationship, and I don’t think he would have done it if his heart wasn’t fully in it.
Kanae was probably one of the very few bonds (a heart, if you will) that Ryuuken managed to build, and when she is taken from him, he looses it in a very Ryuuken fashion - which traumatizes his son on the process, not only because of the autopsy, but because of the entire aftermath. Ryuuken was probably confirming that her death did happen due to Ywach (and there is a major TYBW spoiler as to what else he finds in there), due to being a Quincy, and as if this wasn’t enough to crush him, it informs him that their son is bound for trouble in the future if he follows down the Quincy road, so Ryuuken closes himself off.
The anime showed a frame of Kanae holding Uryu (thank you SP for the heartbreak, by the way) when Isshin is telling Ichigo about her death, but the original shot was Ryuuken facing the window and a small frame of solo-Kanae. Because of the contrast of Isshin over-the-top picture of Masaki in the living room and him constantly bringing her up, it can be easy to think that Ryuuken and Kanae’s relationship was not as “loving” as Isshin and Masaki. But I don’t think that is true - these are two very different couples. Isshin and Ryuuken are two very different men, and Masaki and Kanae are two very different women, but both of them understand their respective partners and their deflection strategies - humor and aloofness -, embrace their love as they come, and build their own affection spaces, each on their own way.
Ryuuken’s mind might have been troubled by resentment, anxiety and fears over the course of his life, but as far as his relationship with Kanae is concerned, I like to think that there was a beautiful heart right there, that he did love her as well as his emotionally troubled self could, and that amidst all his angst, he was actually happy -- even if Kubo won’t let us see that.

Which of the various Denizens of Ink Machine/Joey Drew Studio did Bendy's/ The Ink Demon's Nine Sons imprint themselves on? Bendy's gonna need them all if Since He is both a Single Parent & (Bizarrely enough to think about) still a Minor (...Well, at least in His Toon form.) , Himself. It's gonna Be Hard to feed nine hungry mouths all alone.
characters like henry, buddy, and sammy definitely would take care of the kittens whenever they find them around methinks. other characters like malice, allison, tom, and joey would probably not be allowed near the kits the moment they show any sort of hostility, though the thought of one of the babies imprinting on tom is really funny to me 😭
the babies would stay exclusively with the ink demon when theyre young, though as they grow theyd probably end up wandering the studio
even with audrey in charge now, making the ink world less of a kill or be killed hellworld, everyone would know not to mess with the ink demons kin. Bendy has eyes everywhere though so wherever the kits are hes able to know when theyre safe and who they would be safe with
// also about toon bendy being a minor thats really just an interpretation given he doesnt have a canon age, its just that hes small and acts vaguely childlike DHJDFHJDF /lh i do see him as a younger coded character but thats why i dont like toon bendy and the ink demon being the same character, it makes things a bit weird and honestly kinda confusing, so i just see them as separate beings entirely
in this au they are separate beings once trapped in the same body! so during batdrs specific gameplay cycle they are in the same body though with separate minds, but since audreys reset theyve been separated into their respective bodies. toon bendy is like a little brother to the ink demon basically, so an uncle to the kittens

hate drawing absolutely vile, also tobirama wears bell bottom pants all the time
the guy I referenced for this pose I think had long arms or there was depth my 2d brain couldn't handle lmao
anyway!!! I love doing modern au stuff and I haven't seen anything about ballet or other forms of dance, more thoughts beneath the bar on this
I don't think Tobirama started with ballet, but maybe started with fencing and swimming perhaps. I think the Senju family would have been relatively rich, probably what US citizens would consider upper-middle class in coastal states. (Its hard to pick a proper term for the tax bracket I'm thinking of, but generally someone who could have afforded a large home in a gated community in Arizona so something around ~500k - ~900k (to be fair these are also post-quarantine prices)) Anyway, fairly rich, a family that could afford to pay for sports/hobbies type things without worrying too much. Butsuma seems to be the type to be proud in being old blood, but doesn't necessarily care about honoring their lineage either aside from personal glory. Fencing comes from Tobirama's own interest in it and the fact that (rival old family cause teehee) has two sons also in fencing. Butsuma had Tobirama in swimming as part of being part of school sports. Hashirama would be in soccer methinks. Kawarama would be in flag football, but would have attempted soccer first. Itama is decent at most sports, but not excelling, his talents lie more in the arts. Itama managed to convince Butsuma to let him join orchestra or perhaps band where he would eventually join jazz band? Through Itama getting good at multiple instruments, he finds a passion for playing along with guided ballet performances to practice for long performances and passionate solos. Tobirama watches and finds a love for ballet. He first begins with doing katas to Itama's playing, and transitioning to mimicking the moves he saw on the tv. Because he's my amoral little meow meow, he stole money from his father (not like he'd actually notice, im not endorsing this kids) and Tobirama finds himself a mentor to teach him. I think it'd be funny if Izuna discovered this little secret of Tobiramas. Itama tries to convince Tobirama it doesn't matter, and that Izuna won't do anything. Next week, Tobis been paranoid stewing, and in a routine spar with Izuna. Tobirama gets too aggressive.
Cue the much less fatal and more just going against sportsmanship Izuna death scene.
Many thoughts on this, but I wish more people would consider dance for sports aus. I just think Tobirama has that kind of dramatic flair for ballet, but serious and lithe for an art thats so brutal but so delicate looking.
Ahhh, bit of a fan of ballet lol.

so what do you think would be the dynamic of Armin, Eren, and Mikasa in a bridgerton au? like what positions/titles would they hold, and how do you think they formed their lil friendgroup?
ANON THIS IS SUCH A GOOD QUESTION!!!!! GOD!!!!! (also!!! GOOD LUCK ON UR EXAMS !!!)
mm i think armin, eren, and mikasa's dynamic would be a LOT like the dynamic between the bridgerton siblings and a sprinkle of penelope!!!
mikasa is the highest born of them, probably the daughter of a marquis and highly sought after following her debut into society. i believe that for her season, she is a ward to the jaegers (eren's father is a viscount methinks and a good friend of mikasa's father.. hence why the family is trusted to take charge of mikasa during the social season). she would be the diamond of her season were it not for her parent's decision to live outside of england and manage their lands by-proxy and through occasional visits. still, i think she's likely among the most popular and is courted very seriously by many people (she's picky and proper though... hardly ever gives anyone the real time of day).
eren is the son of a viscount and set to inherit the entirety of the estate on his father's passing. he's haughty and not really all too marriage-minded... which mikasa and armin find DEEPLY concerning. mikasa often gets mad at him because she doesn't want to get married either, but she doesn't have the luxury of just turning the other cheek without consequences (she still does it though, it just sort of works in her favor.. people like the regality that she does it with). eren is hyper-protective of mikasa at times... given that they grew up together.
armin i think is ranked the lowest of them. his father is a baron and while they manage their land well, his family is not as prominent as eren or mikasa's. armin wants a love match and is more marriage minded than eren and mikasa combined. he understands the importance of marrying well, but overall wants to do so for love. he's surprisingly popular when the women of the ton get to know him, but he's a bit of an underdog. he's also often the voice of reason for eren and mikasa, usually giving the people who wish to court them the benefit of the doubt (or, occasionally, deeply disapproving because he's figured out something sordid about them lol). i also think that armin has EXCEPTIONALLY good manners, more so than eren (who does not apply himself), despite armin's lower ranking at birth.
anyway, i think that the three of them grew up together. mikasa passed her summers with the jaegers and armin lived not far from the viscount's estate. now, with all of them at marrying age, it's not unusual to see them dancing at balls and parties together, nor is it unusual to find both armin and eren's names on mikasa's dance card.
if anyone is curious, historia is the season's diamond <3

Chae Yul: He had it coming... Or did he?
Warning: mild spoilers, disorganized thoughts, a bit of a rant-ish, flowery essay because I can only speak in metaphors, talks on who deserves redemption and who doesn’t.
--
Just finished Secret Alliance, and as someone who needs conversation after a satisfying, cathartic read, I decided to head to the manwha’s trailer to look at the comments, and, to no one’s surprise, saw a crowd of readers with divisive opinions (I always love this. It means the story was provoking enough to inspire different insights.) Of course, when you have a tragic, pretty boy with a murderous streak, you’d get an interesting crowd, and I found it quite easily. This crowd was divided between two factions— one that sympathized and exonerated Chae Yul from his actions, and the one who believed that he had everything coming to him.
Personally, I’m part of the latter.
Legally speaking, he committed criminal acts against Eun that deserved to be penalized. In fact, he was extremely lucky that she didn’t press any charges at all, that much I can agree with. The fate he received in the end was much more benign than what he was setting himself up for; but, at the same time, I’m happy that he was given that chance for redemption. To carry the burden of guilt, regret, and remorse is the punishment of those who sobered from delusion, as they will carry sins of their former selves with them for the rest of their lives.
Obviously, I sympathized a lot with Yul, but to sympathize doesn’t mean to exonerate one from their actions. As I read through the story, I wasn’t hoping for a happy ending. In fact, I felt dread each time he dug a deeper hole for himself. (You could even say that he was already deep inside it before the story even began.) I was half-expecting that he’d end up behind bars, or dead. It’s how a lot of yandere stories would end, as if stamping the message on our heads that people who are this far gone do not deserve to carry on as they are. How would you even hope to redeem a character like Chae Yul? Sad backstory aside, does his character deserve to be redeemed?
I think that a chance for redemption comes when a character could have chosen the path that their circumstances molded them to be, but instead chose the one that allowed the first step to break away from that mold. (Arguably, Chae Yul was halfway down the first path, but sobered by Eun’s harsh reality check where he no longer had a place in her life, he was allowed a glimpse of the other path through the brambles, and he chose to tear his way through to get on the other side.) The more his past was divulged, the more I wished that he had a better “everything” before his nosedive in the story. Chae Yul was just a product of his circumstances. Mocked and objectified for his beauty (Why is conventional feminine beauty somehow always objectified... deserves another mini essay methinks), resented by his father who likely mistreated him because he lacked the masculinity he expected from a son he sired, he turned up bitter and resentful without a single ounce of faith in the world that had done nothing but consume what it desired of him only to spit him out right after.
It came as no surprise that he clung onto the first person who saw him as a human being, something other than an amalgamation. It also came as no surprise that without anyone to derive any form of healthy attachment from (My god, everyone either mocked him, or wanted to get rid of him or defile him), all he knew was that he’d be hard-pressed to release who he thought was the only person who could ever see him for who he could be behind his face.
Cue the stalking, gaslighting, and blackmailing, and the terrible, no good, terrorizing of Eun.
And yet, two years later, he was able to let go. Even though his heart “shattered to a million pieces, the sun still rose the next morning and he was still breathing.” When he realized that he no longer had a place in Eun’s life, the one person who his life revolved around, he pieced himself back together, perhaps alone, perhaps slightly cushioned by his tentative reconciliation with his sister. Drifting in space with nothing but the sobering pain of his heartbreak, he chose to honor Eun’s wishes and made himself scarce in her life, living the life she decided to spare instead of end in court trial that Yul would have lost. It’s true that he was a cruel, selfish, delusional egomaniac who terrorized Eun for most of her adolescent and young adult years with the sad hope of keeping her in his life. But, in time, he accepted the grave error of his ways—carrying with this the pain of knowing that he had hurt the only person he would ever love, the pain that he was a monster—and he would wear this truth around his neck as he presses forward.
Did he deserve this ending? I believe he does. Does he deserve something worse? I believe he does so as well. What made the difference is that he chose to end it before it got worse. He chose to own up to his mistakes, and he so he lived by its consequences. He chose to carry his love for Eun as penance, afraid to ever forget her, and enacting it by leaving it unrealized. Perhaps without even knowing it, he’s performed his first pure act of love, a feat given that he was never spared some of it for even just a bit.

Question for Nymph and Hunter: Is Narrander a runaway trueborn prince or a runaway illegitimate "bastard"?
Oh gosh. It’s a bit complicated for him yeah.
Narrander is an illegitimate bastard, yes. His mother was NOT of a suitable status to bear a king’s son, not enough to even make concubine. So she was wed to the king’s royal hunter as a cover-up, tho Narrander grew up knowing the truth from a very young age.
He’s not so much a runaway as he’s sorta been forced to uuuh, keep moving. His half-siblings only care for him insofar they can put him in the earth. And the king doesn’t really care, like yeah he’s gone from actively trying to having him killed in accidents to “hurr durr I’ll legitimize you if you can pull off a miracle” which I’d suppose is open to interpretation.
Officially, Narrander was trained to succeed his adoptive father the royal hunter, who is the only courtier in his corner. Knowledge of the woods is helpful when you regularly gotta sidestep the villains in it…
Now, Madara sort of has a thing for “serving kings.” That’ll probably be like throwing a huge-ass wrench into these years-old dynamics methinks.

“you don’t scare me.” Arthur/Antonio
*cracks knuckles* time for a new au, methinks...
Tremors
Antonio does not know for how long exactly he has been sitting in that chair, staring at the same wall, fighting tight knots, and turning over the thought in his mind that says, just because you haven’t been killed yet does not mean that that can’t change.
The night before, he had been in bed sleeping peacefully. And then, the worst thing imaginable happened: a pirate raid.
That being said, it was not exactly… what Antonio imagined a raid would be like. There was less violence, less screaming, less fire, and more… organised, almost. Though, he himself woke to the sound of smashing glass, and didn’t even have a chance to get out of bed properly before his room seemingly became the raid’s epicentre…
One minute, Antonio had been in his home. The next, he had woken up with a throbbing head in that very room.
Outside, he hears the sea. He fears that land is already so far away. He fears that he is destined to die away from home.
Antonio closes his eyes. His head still hurts. He is still so, so tired. For a moment, he nods off—and maybe for a few seconds, or maybe for a few minutes—but, once more, violence pries him fiercely from the grip of sleep with the slamming of a door, and Antonio opens his eyes once more.
Finally, his captor has decided to make himself known.
"Sorry to keep you waiting," the stranger says, staying out of sight. "I trust that no one else has disturbed you just yet…?"
He does not humour the other with a response. Instead, he listens as the footsteps near, and then does his best to steel his nerves as the other pulls up a chair, legs scraping on the floor, and sits down opposite him.
“Forgive me for being a bit blunt, but you do speak English, right?” he is asked, and Antonio, though he does not provide a verbal reply, instead examining his company, has answered the question regardless: “Good. If you didn’t, I’d be worried.”
Antonio’s brows twitch and form a slight frown. That means ‘why?’ as he still refuses to talk.
“You’re the kid who speaks a library’s worth of languages, aren’t you?”
He is not a ‘kid’, he wants to point out, but instead he says nothing.
“That’s why you’re here.”
His silence remains firm.
In light of this, the man—a pirate through and through, if the hat and partially-exposed chest and bad smell is anything to go by—leans forward, closer—too close, in fact. Antonio leans away from him, though there is not far he can go; the back of the chair stops him, and all the while, the other draws nearer.
His hand reaches out. Antonio does not like where it is heading. Fingers start to curl. Antonio’s toes curl in turn. And then, those fingers grip the underside of Antonio’s seat and slowly, steadily drag the chair towards their owner.
Antonio does not enjoy how close they end up, legs brushing against each other, only a couple inches of space remaining between them.
The smell worsens.
“I have something in my possession that I need translating,” the other begins to say. “It’s not in French, Spanish—not even Dutch. But a little birdie told me there was someone near where we were docked—the son of a merchant sailor—who has a knack for languages.”
How Antonio’s existence has come to be known to someone like this man is beyond him. It seems that years of studying have indeed provided him a future, as he had always intended, but now he is not sure that this is the future he—
“You know, I thought it was considered rude to ignore someone…”
“There is a difference between ignorance and defiance.”
“Ahhh, so he does have a tongue.” The other smirks. “Good to know.”
“You want me to translate something,” Antonio goes on despite the growing taste of acid in his throat.
“Mmh.”
“That is why you dragged me from my room, onto a ship, and started sailing away?”
“Yeah. Why, is that a problem?”
“It could be,” Antonio replies, “if it turns out I cannot translate whatever it is you want me to.”
At that notion, the other’s grin starts to fade. His relaxed posture ceases. And, in turn, what seems to have been relatively good humour, for a man of his calibre, becomes soured.
Once more, Antonio finds his personal space invaded. Once more, Antonio is unable to back away.
“You’re going to translate what I tell you to translate,” the other insists, “and if you can’t, then I have no use for you. And for that problem, I have an easy solution.”
The Spaniard swallows. “You don’t scare me,” he says, but the words hold no real weight or conviction.
“And yet, there is a faint tremble in your cheek,” the blonde remarks as his fingers suddenly dare graze over the skin of Antonio’s face, “and you can’t quite seem to look at me—not in a way that a brave man would.”
Antonio has no room to shy away from his touch, but the intention is there, and clear. The other pulls his hand away after a few more seconds of no doubt relishing in the reaction that has been plucked from his captive, and, once more, Antonio is able to breathe.
With that, the other gets up. He walks away. Antonio turns his head to try and find him, but hands settle down on his shoulders and lips are suddenly too close to his ear, breath tickling his skin.
“You and I are about to be good friends. So, friend, have you got a pretty name to go with that pretty face of yours?”
The brunette takes a slow breath. “Antonio,” he offers up without protest. “My name is Antonio.”
“Mmh, not too bad, I suppose,” muses the other. “Well, Antonio, in that case, you can call me Arthur.”
And, with that, Antonio finds himself alone all over again.

I’m running out of questions so here is fanfic literature analysis that has been rummaging in my brain. in WMLP all the captured and enslaved characters were replaced besides for M’Gann. Robin’s been replaced twice over. Superboy and Aqualad’s mentors had actual sons. Green Arrow went back to Roy after losing Artemis. So much amo to get under their skin. And I bet it’s already under Dick’s. Dude hates the JL now and Slade would not miss the chance to show him Bruce replacing him.
Oh yes. Slade would have used Dick's replacement many times to destabilize him. and every other member of the batfamily, because before Dick there was no more family members. For all intents and purposes, it looks like Bruce only decided he cared for company and family after losing Dick, which Slade uses against him often. Dick hates the family he didn't know because of this, but ostly he knows it's not their fault. it's all Bruce's fault.
Roy's return to Oliver is a situational thing for sure, and anyone who knows them and knows the issues they've had can tell as much. Roy has to find his original, and also the team. He blames himself partially for everything that's happened. the easiest way to find and save everyone is to go back to the JLA and work with Oliver again. Artemis knows this is likkely how it went about. And she's happy for them. glad that they were able to get over differences. glad Roy was not so entirely swept up in his searching and forced himself to be alone.
At least Mera was already pregnant when Kaldur was taken. Lois, though? not as far as anyone was aware. When Conner found out he probably was so heartbroken that he would likely never meet this child. Moreover, Clark finally had a real son. Why would he care for the clone he lost when he has a baby to care for? and yet when COnner next sees Clark he looks just as upset to see Conner in his position. Conner can tell he is still missed.
M'Gaan has not been replaced, I suppose. But the current state of Beast Boy's existence in the world is a bit of a spoiler for an up coming chapter so we'll leave it there methinks.
