the exact moment you felt your heart beating erratically every time you look at yuno, you knew it was over for you. you were in love and hated every second of it.

it started out as harmless little sneezes with you sniffing every now and then. but then as the days went by, your symptoms started to become bothersome and pretty intense. intense in a way that mere eye contact with him would set off your allergies. crazy, right?

at one of your missions, he flew right beside you on the way to the location. you sneezed so hard you fell off of your broom. yuno, of course, having lightning speed reflexes, swooped you up before you could hit the ground.

these feelings of yours will get you killed quite literally.

the very close proximity to him, however, triggered a massive wave of sneezing.

“y/n, are you alright?”

“fine, fine.” you waved him off with your hand. “must be the awful weather.”

you were so embarrassed you couldn’t even look at him. you needed to look unbothered though, so you got up but felt pretty lightheaded and with knees wobbling. yuno grasped your forearm to try and steady you.

“t-thanks,” you reeled back, suddenly feeling something itchy. true enough, rashes were forming on the area on your forearm where yuno had touched.

you muttered curses under your breath. yuno said nothing but was quite worried upon seeing you distressed.

you took a deep breath and clasped your hands together. “you can go on and catch up with the rest of the gang. i’ll just fly back to the base and get some rest,”

“let me accompany you th—”

“NO!” you blurted out a little too loudly.

“no,” you say again, this time more composed.

“okay,” he said, ever so stoically, and then handed you your broom. “page me if you need anything,”

you pretended not to hear and instead tried to mount yourself on your broom. yuno is usually not one to pry or meddle into other people’s business. unfortunately for you, today is not that day.

rashes were forming on your wrist and they were starting to get itchy. you sighed really loudly.

“it means that you are not my boyfriend and therefore not required to act so concerned about me,” you huffed, your impatience growing each second. “can i go now?”

yuno glitched for a minute; no movement, no reply, nothing. he was still holding onto your hand but you felt his grip loosen.

“do you…” he hesitated for a bit. “do you want me to be… your boyfriend?”

oh you felt like you were going to be sick.

much to your horror (and yuno’s), you were caught up in a seemingly neverending loop of sneezing.

yuno kind of panicked, the shock very much evident in his features.

“let me call mimosa. i’m sure th—”

“no it’s okay! *sneeze* i know how to stop it,”

“okay. how can i be of help then?”

“just… listen,”

a slight pause and then…

you admired fuegoleon from afar like any of your squad mates would. every time he was around, you would subtly stare at him because let’s face it he’s good to look at! most of your squadmates admired him in a way that differs from yours but hey, they’re admiration all the same.

apart from being super good looking, he had an equally amazing personality too, reinforcing your infatuation with him all the more.

so now, the mere sight of him makes you feel sick — the butterflies wreaking havoc in your stomach non-metaphorically. you couldn't believe that a MAN could possibly have this much effect on you. you'd been so in denial for a few days, ignoring whatever feelings you were harboring for him. it was manageable at first. but then your darned body started to react violently in the form of allergies.

you and your team were summoned by fuegoleon for a post-mission report. while your other member was giving out theirs, you suddenly sneezed.

“s-sorry,” you apologized immediately, covering your face in embarrassment.

fuegoleon chuckled. “what a cute sneeze, y/n.”

your life has never been the same after that. these allergies of yours were so bad that sometimes you could feel your throat tighten seemingly not being able to breathe.

you were afraid of dying so you tried as best you could to avoid atleast being in the same room as him. every thing was going well until…

your friend made their way over to you during lunch break. they seem so giddy, like a toddler with too much sugar consumption.

“well we somehow never get shuffled into the same team lately,” you laughed.

which was obviously a lie. you had always been in missions spearheaded by fuegoleon himself but ever since The Thing happened, you always begged off from anything with fuegoleon in them.

"i miss being team mates with you!" your friend sulked. "even captain fuegoleon notices your absence,"

you almost choked. the butterflies in your stomach were going feral.

"yeah, he's always looking for you. y/n this, y/n that."

needless to say, this whole ordeal changed your life yet again. so instead of being a pussy for eternity, you thought about telling him. no, you WERE going to tell him.

you lingered for a bit outside his office, suddenly not as confident as you were 5 minutes ago. but before you could completely chicken out, the door swung open revealing a startled fuegoleon.

"y/n, i didn't expect to see you here. did you need to discuss something with me?"

you stood there as frozen as a block of ice. you couldn't breathe, you couldn't say anything.

"y/n? is there something wrong?"

"no, i just...i--"

he said nothing. an uncomfortable silence then proceeded to fill the space between you.

"so um, is this the part where you tell me you like me but not enough to be in a relationship with me?"

"no, no. not at all. this is the part where i ask you out on a date." he chuckled. "forgive me for my silence, i was trying to think of places i could take you to for our dates,"

it would be a lie to say that you didn’t look up to nozel. you’ve occasionally worked with him in a couple of missions and your relationship sprouted for nothing to casual hi-hello’s when passing by each other around the silver eagles headquarters. sometimes you’d notice him looking at you, his eyes lingering more than you think they should. that or you could be delusional or maybe even hallucinating.

the thing about him is that he notices EVERYTHING. he is quite perceptive, a characteristic fit for a captain of a well-renowned squad in the kingdom. so when you started showing up at his office looking sick, he was concerned.

“y/n, you look quite ill.” he put his pen down and frowned. “and you have rashes all over your face. have you had those checked?”

he got up and made his way to you to inspect your face. the closer he got, the itchier your face felt.

and when his fingertips touched your chin to tilt your head up little? you felt like you were about to combust, your heart banging around inside your ribcage.

that’s when you knew that your rashes were triggered by no less than nozel (and your feelings for him).

you backed up a little, a shaky laugh coming out of your mouth. “i-i should go and get this checked like you said, captain.”

with that, you sprinted out the door and headed towards your room. as if on cue, your rashes disappeared. you dusted yourself off as if nothing happened and continued with your day praying you won’t run into nozel by the corridors.

the whole afternoon went by without a hitch with you successfully avoiding nozel… or so you thought.

you were finishing up your last chore for the day aka cleaning up one of the rooms in the headquarters when suddenly someone entered the room.

you’d been sneezing like crazy a few minutes before that someone entered the room. you knew it was him.

“y/n—”

“DON’T come any closer,” you spun around and held up your broom menacingly.

in his list of things he did not expect to occur today this was at the top. he was stunned, and gave you a “what is WRONG with you” look then proceeded to just roll with it.

“i do not know why you’re acting this way but i came by to ask about how your check up with the doctor went. hopefully those rashes of yours don’t pose any serious threat to your health?”

“they’re just allergies,” you quickly responded, still hypervigilant, watching him like he was a predator on the loose.

nozel ignored whatever the hell was going on with you and took a step forward.

you took a step back.

nozel quirked an eyebrow up. “are you perhaps in a delirious state because of your illness?”

“what? no!”

“bitten by a rabid animal?”

“NO!”

“then wh—”

“okay fine! i’m so in love with you and it’s making me sick!!!”

in the same list of things he did not expect to happen today, this was second. he was — yet again — stunned to say the least.

he was silent too. so silent you swear you could hear your confession echoing through the room.

after realizing he had spaced out for a while, he cleared his throat. you knew he was embarrassed.

“come have dinner with me at 7 o’clock. wear something nice,”

as turned around to leave, you caught a glimpse of his cheek and giggled. he was blushing.

Part 1: One Last Chance

"I want a divorce"

4 words. That's all it takes for William's heart to shatter into pieces. Those heartbreaking words that he has been wishing to never hear from you ever since you both got married 3 years ago.

William stared at you, eyes full of shock, mouth agape. He was about to speak when you beat him to it, "I– I'm sorry, Will... I just can't do this anymore. You've been so distant to me for months now, you've been pushing me away, stopped having breakfast, lunch, and dinner with me, you'd turn down any of my offers so coldly; and then you lied to me and hurted me, both physically and mentally... I just can't do it anymore, William."

Suddenly, William started to remember how he has been treating you for the past few months. He didn't mean it, truly. He was just so focused on helping his friend, he didn't mean to hurt you, mostly you, the person who he vowed to never hurt until death do they part.

Tears were now pouring out of your eyes, you don't know what to do, this isn't what you expected to happen in your marriage... "William. I love you, I do, but I can't take it anymore."

The room went silent, the only noise that can be heard was your sods. William didn't know what to say or do, he was going to lose you, the only person who loved him.

The Star Awards Festival is an annual festival that celebrates the Magic Knights' achievements and reveals the squads' rankings, based on the number of stars obtained during the year.

William Vangeance, who's still the captain of the Golden Dawn, was walking around the capital in disguise before the ceremony starts. He was now in his early 30's, though even if 5 years has passed, William still looked young for his age.

The sound of people and music filled his ears as he walks around on his own. He wanted to look around the festival and to have some time alone since work has been more stressful for the past few weeks for him. A small smile was plastered on his lips as he sees children running around playing together.

The mere thought of children made William happy, children are one of the most precious living beings on earth. They're cute, adorable, lovable, small human beings. William's smile grew wider when he thought of having a family with a sudden person in his mind, you.

But suddenly, his smile disappeared. You're not his anymore. You weren't his anymore for 5 years now. He felt his heart ache, the mere thought of you being in the arms of another man made William broken. He still loves you up to this day.

He snapped out of his thoughts when he suddenly felt someone bump into him. "AH!" The small figure that dumped into him yelped. "I-i'm so sorry, Mister! I didn't mean to dump into you!" The young boy apologized, slightly bowing to William.

"It's alright, little boy. Where is your-", William stopped halfway through his sentence when he felt the little kid's mana, strange... his mana felt familiar. But this is their first encounter, so how is it familiar to him?

"Mister?–"

Their attention shifted to another child that looks exactly like the child in front of William, "Mom has been looking for you! Where have you been?!" The newcomer questioned the other, a cute angry, yet slightly worried look on his face. "I'm sorry! I didn't mean to run off! I just saw something that caught my interest!"

"Well don't do that again! Mom has been worried sick! Come on!" The other said, his hand reaching out for his brother's hand, "I-i'm sorry again, Mister!" The first one slightly bowed once again to William.

"It's alright. Let me help you two be taken to your mother, I'm sure she'll be relieved that the both of you aren't hurt." William offered, a kind smile on his lips.

"But–"

"Don't worry, I'm a magic knight," he slightly revealed the Golden Dawn symbol to the two boys, two pairs of purple eyes shined bright at the sight of the symbol, "You two are safe with me."

Few minutes later...

"What are your names, boys?"

"I'm FB/N! I'm the oldest, and this is SB/N, he's the youngest! He's the one who dumped into you earlier, Mister." FB/N said he was the one leading the way while his brother and William were behind him following.

"What about you, Mister? What's your name?" SB/N asked, looking up at William while walking beside him.

"My name is William, and I'm the captain of the Golden Dawn." "EH?!–" William pressed his index finger on his lips, signaling to be quiet not wanting to gain any attention, the two boys immediately nodded their heads and continued walking.

While walking, the three made small chit-chat here and there as they were near their destination. "Are you married, Mister?" FB/N asked curiously, still walking ahead.

The question slightly caught William off guard, "Before, Yes. Now, no.." "Why? What happened, Mister?"

He went silent. Should he be telling this to children? Though, something about these two children is making him want to tell them why. But why? He barely even knows them. But something inside of him is telling him that he and the children have some kind of special bond together...

"BOYS!"

That voice..

"Mom!" The identical twins immediately ran in the direction of their mother. He didn't want to look. He knows who that voice belongs to. That oh-so-familiar voice that he misses so much after 5 years...

Yet still, he turned to look.

There you are, on your knees checking the two boys standing in front of you, a worried look on your face. 'You still look so beautiful...' William compliments in his thoughts, alonging look in his eyes.

Fuegoleon’s mouth morphs into a quiet Oh as he sets his pen down. “Sweetheart, are you actually upset with me?” he asks, stunned, the realization dawning over his features.

His face is haggard after days of report writing, and it doesn’t help that the paperwork landed on his desk just hours after he returned from a long expedition. You see concern light up his eyes, shining their way through a foggy gaze, and your heart pangs in your chest as you realize that he’s just doing his best, too.

You finally break the silence with a sigh. “No, I’m sorry. I’m—” You cut yourself off and press the heels of your palms to your eyes, hard enough to see stars, trying to force back the building tears. “I’m just tired. I’m more upset with myself and my reaction, sorry. I’ll let you get back to your work now.”

You hear the creak of his chair and the rustling of his uniform as he steps around his desk.

“No, talk to me,” he says gently, tugging your wrist until your hands uncover your face. “What’s wrong?”

Other than a perfunctory forehead kiss in the hall when he came home, this is the closest you’ve been to him in weeks, but all it does is make you more upset and you feel the familiar pressure of a sob in your chest. His expression softens further, though you can barely see through the tears threatening to spill over your lashes.

His human arm holds you against his chest as he perches on the edge of his desk. His fire arm hovers by your side and warms your cheek. It takes an astounding amount of magic control, you realize, to keep it from burning everything. And suddenly, it dawns on you how tiring it must be for Fuegoleon to keep his strength in check, his powers both a blessing and a curse.

“What’s your schedule like today?” His fingers skim along your skin.

“Mine?” You echo, racking your brain for any upcoming appointments. “I think I have to meet with your brother to go over some logistical matters, but other than that, my schedule is empty.”

He hums. “Consider that meeting postponed until further notice. Give me a few minutes to wrap things up on my end, and then maybe we can get lunch from that one tavern you like.”

“But you hate that place.”

“I don't hate it.”

“Don't lie to me,” you say, managing a laugh. “You're always glaring daggers at that one waiter.”

His arm tightens around your waist. “Because they had the audacity to ask if you were single in front of me,” he insists. “Otherwise, the food is good.”

You press your face into his shoulder to hide your smile. His embrace is familiar, and as much as you hate to take him away from his work, you can’t help leaning into him. “We don’t have to…” you murmur.

But your resolve is weak. You both know this. He only chuckles, kissing the top of your head once more before releasing you. “Thirty minutes, okay? If I’m a minute late, feel free to barge in and knock everything off my desk.”

You had to drag you husband’s ass out to the apartment viewing. You knew that low key, he found it hard to leave the bulls HQ. Afterall it was a place he found, built and had for a very long time.

But now that you’re married, it was only right for you two to have some alone and peaceful time without the walls breaking or anything catching fire at home.

Yami compromised to move and you compromised to find a place where the base can be nearby too.

“So, Mr Yami, your wife came the other day and she loved this place, how do you like it?”

“Yeah, whatever she likes.” Yami shrugged, he was okay with whatever, so long as you’re living with him.

“You have a lovely hubby, Mrs Yami. Aren’t you a lucky lady~” the agent smiled at you before her phone rang.

“Oh I have to get this, please excuse me for awhile, feel free to look around!” And she stepped out of the apartment

“So, Mrs Yami,” you were wrapped by his huge frame from the back, “is this our new love nest?”

You blushed and swatted him playfully, “if you like it!”

“I like it so long as the neighbours are okay with loud noises,” he smirked.

Nozel Silva

You were really busy with the wedding preparations , so you sent your fiancé to collect your customised gifts for your bridesmaids.

He stepped into the store and handed the receipt to the shopkeeper.

“Oh Mrs Silva’s gifts~” the lady said as she scurried to the back of the store.

Nozel stood there, stunned by what she said.

“Here you go,” she handed him the gifts awhile later, “you are Mr Silva?”

Nozel blinked, coming back to his senses, “yes.”

“Ah, Mrs Silva speaks a lot of you, I can tell she loves you very much.”

A blush crept up Nozel’s cheeks and painted it a tint of pink.

When he came home, he handed you the gifts.

“Thank you honey,” you smiled as you inspected the meticulous work.

“You’re welcome, Mrs Silva” he whispered in your ears before pressing a peck on your cheek.

Fuegoleon Vermillion

“Is Mrs Vermillion in?” A florist came into the crimson lion HQ one day.

“Mereo!” Fue was walking out from the pantry, “someone’s looking for you”

Mereo came out from the pantry with a cup of coffee in hand, “what?”

“Mrs Vermillion, I was told to come here to meet you,”

Mereo stared at the man for a few seconds, “what did you call me?”

The poor man read out the name on the paper carefully, “Mrs Ver-Mil-Lion, did I get that right?”

“Oi, dumb brother,” Mereo marched into Fue’s office to drag him out.

“Say it louder to his face, you’re looking for who again?”

“Mrs Vermillion, sir.”

Fuegoleon’s face turned bright red as he heard it from someone else for the first time.

“M-my wife-”

“Oh the florist is here!” You suddenly came in through the doors.

“Ah, Mrs Vermillion, I’ve been looking for you,” he bowed.

Fue stood there smiling with pride, he had to purse his lips a little so his smile wouldn’t get too wide as he listened in on the conversation with you and the florist on how to decor the place for the upcoming Crimson Lion anniversary.

You thanked the florist as he left.

“Mrs Vermillion sounds good on you, honey” he couldn’t contain his wide smiles.

“Oh honey,” you rolled your eyes cheekily at him, “please, your lips are about to reach your ears!”

Zenon Zogratis

He was kinda mad at you for going on a mission without telling him, so he didn't say a single word on the way to the restaurant as you celebrated your monthly date night.

"Do you have a reservation monsieur?" a waiter greeted you both.

"y/n." Zenon gave the waiter your name, since you booked the restaurant for tonight.

"let me see..." he scanned through the list of names, "ahh, Mrs Zogratis, si?"

"yep." you nodded shyly.

"And you must be Mr Zogratis, sir." the waiter beamed at the both of you, "lovely couple we have tonight, welcome in~"

He led you both to a quiet corner where you could oversee the spade kingdom. "Let me know when you're ready to order, Mr and Mrs Zogratis."

"are you still mad, Zen? You weren't back yet and it was a fast mission, so it slipped my mind to leave a note for you," you jutted your lip, pouting at your man.

"how could I stay mad, Mrs Zogratis?" his head rested on one hand, as he looked at you with soft ocean blue eyes.

You smiled shyly, it seemed surreal that now, you were married to this man.

"hmm, I should use this trump card more often~" you joked.

Zenon chuckled as he shook his head, what will he ever do with you.

* You knew what you had done but you didn’t feel bad. You were so tickled the whole day just thinking about it.

Milestones: Jack

Asking him out:

This one already is a hassle because that man refuses to believe that anyone could even want to seriously think about dating him. And you´ve had a crush on him for ages now and you know he likes you too (you overheard him and Yami talk about you one day) so you decide to finally shoot your shot. Jack really needs a good minute to comprehend what you just said and really awkwardly agrees to go out with you while trying to hide the massive crush he has on you.

First date:

Since you´re the one to ask him out it´s also your job to plan the date. Knowing Jack you want it to be something special but not overly romantic. So you´re going to slay beasts in an enchanted forest with a nice picnic and watching the sunset afterwards. He´s always at ease while fighting plus loves showing off to you. And you cheering him on and looking so beautiful while fighting as well, it´s just perfect to him. (Your second date is him trying to cook dinner for you and miserably failing so you end up in a bar)

First kiss:

It happens at said date. Both of you have been pining for the other for way too long and the moment is just right. It´s late, almost everyone left already. You´re in a corner booth and talking about your latest missions. Jack just said something that made you laugh so hard you had to hold onto him and wipe the tears from your eyes. And it´s this moment his heart jumps out of his chest as he´s just watching you, so adoringly, a soft smile on his lips. He´s the one to make the first move when you´re finished laughing and tells you afterwards that it´s his favorite sound. 

First one saying I love you:

It´s him. You just returned from one of those missions where you didn´t know whether or not you would make it, completely exhausted and just crashing into bed at home. Yami runs it by Jack cause he´s worried too and Jack just completely blanks. His heart breaks in this instance and he can´t even describe the fear in his heart, just thinking about the possibility of loosing you. You´re still tired when he arrives at your doorstep but already took a shower and looked after your wounds. Not enough for Jack´s liking because he rebandages and cleans them again. He cooks for you and you both cuddle wordlessly for a while. It´s not Jack´s place to tell you to be careful because both of you know it could´ve as well been him. He´s trying his hardest to choke back his tears, tears of utter relief to have you in his arms. But eventually he cracks and just repeats those three little words over and over again. 

Sharing a bed:

It happens the same night. He doesn´t want to leave you alone, actually he fucking refuses to. At this point you two can´t even decide who´s more emotional but it´s a tie. And honestly, you don´t want to be alone either. So both of you get ready to bed, Jack helps you with everything even though he doesn´t need to but you still appreciate it. He wraps his arms around you and cuddles you until you both fall asleep and it´s the best sleep you´ve got in a while. 

Moving in:

Honestly it just happened. It was a gradual process none of you questioned or even talked about. His things would just start appearing at  your place and over time he settled in completely. To be fair his place was quite shit so it was out of question that when you would move in it would be your place. You also didn´t want to search for a new one since it was just a hellish process. 

Being intimate:

Jack always has been known to ignore personal space anyway so you´ve always been close in that way. He´s just very surprised when you get handsy as well, when it´s suddenly you who grabs him by the waist when maneuvering through the crowds or when you´re touching his chest or shoulder when he´s telling something funny... so yeah, with you it kind of always was there from the beginning but your bond keeps deepening and every single touch is meaningful. 

Sharing everything:

Secrets were never a big thing with the two of you. Jack has always felt safe with you, from the first date onwards. He also hates hiding things from the one he loves so he always tells you everything. However he isn´t insensitive and he does need time to fully open up. Both of you always say whenever you want to share something and then it doesn´t lose its meaning. It´s so important to Jack that you feel validated and loved, just like you make him feel. 

Loosening up:

This never has been a topic for you guys. Jack cracked jokes from the minute he saw you and you played along right away. This is one of the major reasons he fell for you in the first place. Still, in your relationship there are a few moments in which you both feel your bond deepen. On occasion you will tell each other little silly things from your past and your worries and such. 

Proposal:

He never thought you wanted to tie the knot since you were already together for so long now, he didn´t really see the point. Which is why the proposal didn´t come from him. He didn´t refuse to propose because he didn´t want to spend his life with you, he´s just stupid and didn´t think about it. However your proposal is very sweet and romantic, it actually touches him to tears. He understands why marriage is so important to some people now, it might just be symbolism but in the end the rings on your fingers will show everyone you´re happily taken. It fills him with an immense sense of pride. 

Marriage:

You wanted your ceremony to be small and quiet but of course that didn´t happen. Because you have friends in high places basically the whole kingdom gets involved. It´s a huge feast and party, it goes on for a whole weekend. You told everyone not to get you any gifts but by the end of it your house is completely filled to the brim. Nevertheless you have a great time.

The Vermillion palace rejoiced with celebrations for the day's events. But for once their cheers bought you more distress than joy.

"You don't look happy."

You didn't have to turn to know it was Fuegoleon who had decided to join you on the balcony.

After all, he was the only one brave enough to sneak away from the celebrations of your betrothal to seek out the person lucky enough to be destined to join the Vermillion family.

His words carried a lilt of emotion you couldn't quite place as he shuffled towards you, however, there was no mistaking the tight frown on his lips. One so unbecoming to the perfect ruby robes he had been forced to dress up in; a get-up that perfectly matched your own.

"Is the idea of our marriage that depressing?"

A scoff escaped your lips at the question, for his query only paid homage to the obliviousness of your husband-to-be.

"I wouldn't know. It is not I who holds qualms for this arrangement."

"Whatever do you mean?"

This time, you couldn't stop yourself from turning to finally face the man you had all but avoided for the entire night.

Fuegoleon looked stunning. And so did you.

Why wouldn't you when you were celebrating one of the happiest moments of your life?

You were to marry the man you loved. The man you had pined after for years even as you tried to hide your adoration in attempts to salvage your friendship.

But he didn't love you back.

The realization had your gaze falling on the gold embroidery tailored across his top, something so intricate it allowed you to distract yourself enough to reply.

"Do you want to marry me, Fuegoleon?"

Your question had him furrowing his eyebrows in confusion even as he answered.

"I wouldn't have agreed to this arrangement if I didn't-"

"I'm not talking about political gain!"

The sudden volume of your voice startled the redhead enough to have him take a small step back, however, you were far too lost in your thoughts to notice as you finally voiced your true concerns.

"I love you, Fuegoleon. Not just as a friend or a hero or someone I held dear. I love you. Like someone who wants to marry you."

His ruby lips parted at your words, however, he didn't dare utter a single word lest he risked cutting you off.

"But you do not love me. You are simply doing this for your family and while I understand your sentiments I don't think I can survive a loveless marriage with the one I love."

This time, Fuegoleon's silence was enough of an answer. For it told you everything you had suspected, everything that you had dreaded coming to terms with.

But you meant what you said, and couldn't help but quickly turn to the side and try and take your leave.

Try. For you were quickly tugged to a stop by a sudden hand wrapping around your wrist.

"You are so foolish, my love."

The sudden petname had you whirling on the spot to once again face Fuegoleon, however, this time you were met by the sight of a wide smile as bright as diamonds, one that awfully contrasted your frowns.

"Do you really think a Vermillion like me would allow the king to force me into marriage for political gain? That my sister wouldn't turn the palace over at the mere thought of it?"

You couldn't help but let out a small chuckle at the thought of the famous Vermillion lioness known for her anger, but kept quiet as Fuegoleon continued.

"I love you. I have loved you for years yet was too foolish to notice your own feelings and instead desperately turned to my family for assistance."

His hand shifted from your wrist to cup your cheek, an action that made you suddenly very aware of the warmth flooding through your skin.

"I thought it was you who was against this marriage."

"But I'm not."

The words were barely above a whisper, yet loud enough for Fueguleon to hear you, especially with the way he was leaning down towards you.
