Could you do a Adrien/chat noir x female reader x marionette/ladybug fighting for your attention in school and out of school like during and akumatization
hello! i can try; although personally the akumatization part might be difficult, i have a hard time seeing marinette as the type to do so while fighting! but yesyes let’s see! i wanted to make it polyamory at first because i am biased but alas….. not much of a plot. like anywhere. just a lot of the reader being annoyed LMAO
they drive me crazy (adrien/reader/marinette)
“hey, (name)! do you want to go to my parents bakery after school? they came out with some new macarons that i knowwww are your favourite flavour!”
“sorry, marinette; but they’ve already agreed to go to the park with me today.”
you sighed as you rubbed your temples. good heavens, it was nine in the morning and you were already dealing with these two!
“oh, that’s- that’s okay! how about thursday then?”
“I’ve got them thursday, too.”
maybe this a, b schedule was a mistake. you rubbed your temples for the second time in the past five minutes, you put in a schedule for yourself that alternated between the two of them.
perhaps you shouldn’t have let it get to where you NEEDED a schedule, but you didn’t necessarily mind; the two weren’t bad company, quite the opposite, actually. some of your closest friends, it only got slightly overwhelming and annoying whenever they both cut the other off with a triumphant look on their face to say you were busy that day.
for christ’s sake, you felt like a child between divorced parents!
taking one last deep breath you look at marinette with a sympathetic look “sorry, mari; but hey, we can stop by during lunch?”
“you know we don’t go off campus for lunch!” she protested while pouting slightly.
“nobody outside of those here have to know.” you winked while putting a finger to your lips, “orrrr, we could just stop by instead of going to the eiffel tower the next time we hang out.” you said with a smile, knowing what the answer would be already.
“fiiiiine.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~
you hit your head with your spear with a groan. seriously, you already had to deal with marinette and adrien being clingy and one-upping one another in regards to you during the day, and now you had to deal with ladybug and chat? for real??
“sorry, bugaboo, but i think they prefer my company! i happen to be the cats meow~”
“not with those puns, they don’t.”
“there’s absolutely nothing wrong with my puns! they’re purrfect!” chat gasped in an overly offended manner.
“GUYS! guys! seriously, if you haven’t noticed, there’s currently a clown trying to kill us!” you exclaimed like an annoyed mother scolding her children, because you might as well have been! it was absolutely infuriating!
the two looked at eachother as if saying “this wasn’t over” before nodding and lunging at the clown, with you rolling your eyes before following.
they weren’t the most coordinated pair, but they only had eyes for you after all.
so i know we just have to accept certain retcons, but the big one that bugs me is yellow eyes's plan for sam and how it doesn't fit with all the vessel stuff. how do YOU make that work in your head?
hallo hallo anon, you have hit on one of the Great Big Bugaboos of spn canon and also the #1 evidence we have to throw in the face all those goofs who uncritically repeat the "Kripke had a 5 year plan!" factoid. He clearly did not, he was flying by the seat of his pants, and while he managed to put stuff together in a fun way the pants are Not Coherent.
Nevertheless, we can make it work, and the way we make it work is that the various members of the angelic and especially demonic hierarchies do not have complete information. Let's do a rough timeline:
In the beginning Chuck created the universe. This is widely regarded as a bad move.
Then, you know, handwaving on him setting up some version of a 'destiny' story arc which will inevitably end in his two sons fighting to the death, via characters he'll create called The Winchesters.
After inventing demons and being a real jerkface, Lucifer ends up in the cage.
In the 70s or whatever, Azazel goes to Ilchester to butcher a bunch of nuns and talk to daddy Lucifer -- Lucifer says "you have to help get Lilith out of her pit so that the seals on my cage can get broken." Azazel says, "But how, Evil Daddy?" Lucifer says, "This really special child." -- HERE IS WHERE THE RETCON APPEARS TO HAVE HAPPENED, BUT WE CAN WORK WITH IT
Sam Winchester is fated in the demonic archives among the true higher-ups, but lower-level demons don't necessarily know about him and his importance.
Azazel starts seeding the earth with special babies. COMPLETE CONJECTURE TO FOLLOW: While he knows that Sam is the one who will be Lucifer's vessel, he also knows that a series of events will need to occur so that Lucifer will get out of the cage to take his vessel in the first place. The first seal is the most important: a righteous man must shed blood in hell. How do we get that to happen? CONJECTURE TWO: I think that Dean must be the Righteous Man because of his place within the tripartite celestial structure: God-Michael-Lucifer mirroring John-Dean-Sam. I do not think that John could have ever actually been the one to 'spill blood' that would allow the first seal to break. (Ethical conjecture three: perhaps it's the weakness itself which has its own kind of righteousness? John's implacable; Dean is not.) CONJECTURE UHH FOUR I GUESS: Azazel is designing an elaborate scheme to ensure that Sam will die on a particular day (maybe bc it works well for opening the door to hell?) specifically to ensure that Dean will sell his soul to bring Sam back, and thereby doom himself to the hell where he will break the first seal.
This should be 6b but tumblr doesn't work this way: now, would it be a hell of a fucking lot easier for Azazel to just ensure Sam dies somehow? Yeah. But given everything we know about him and the dorky-ass demons who hang out in s1 and s2, Azazel is clearly a dramallama and does stuff for the lulz. Plus, I think there's an element of 'proving' to Sam how much destiny has a hold on him, because that is so important for his grooming into saying yes to Lucifer. If he was just hit by a car or something it doesn't have the same effect than if he's part of the emo hunger games.
Sam dies; Dean sells his soul; Sam lives, and wants to save Dean. But of course, he can't save Dean, because Dean *must* go to hell to ensure the first seal is broken. This is why the angels don't help Sam at all, and why Ruby is allowed to run around with impunity. Happily the writer's strike intervened and gave us a miserable fucking s3 finale where that happened, because that is WAY more interesting than Hero Sammy Saving The Day.
Ruby has been getting instructions from Lilith the entire time, presumably since she became a demon herself, and gets launched literally as soon as Azazel is out of the way to continue the Sam-grooming.
CONJECTURE FIVE(?): Azazel and Lilith fucking hated each other, lol. But it's Lilith who's the *actually* important demon, so she wins and Azazel gets sacrificed for being really bad at teaching drama.
It's not actually that complicated, but you do have to take "the special kids were just sacrifices on the altar of let's see what we can get Sam to do" as a given. If Sam had actually started killing all of them, that'd be one thing, and Azazel could have turned that to his favor before maybe having Ava stab Sam in the back regardless. (Then, a Special Kid will go and open the devil's gate for him anyway, so the demons can get out there and start their important seal-breaking prep.) Since Sam was being such a Good Guy -- well, so what, Ava will kill all the rest of them, and then either her or Jake will get turned easy-peasy and kill Sam too. Dean will make his deal either way, and the apocalypse is off with a bang. Or a sick crunching of knife into bone.
Anyway, that's my theory. It fits alongside my ironclad theory that all of history and fate and destiny was leading toward two brothers standing in front of each other in a cemetery, and the only real free will starting once Dean could choose what to do when Sam-as-Lucifer stood in front of him, and what he chose was to be there for his brother. Thereby giving Sam a solid space to grasp and overcome Lucifer, and then save all the days. The Righteous Man who begins it is the only one who can end it, as they say.
Snow Babies
Tumblr media
Josh x Reader (f)
Warmings: none
“Come on bugaboos! It’s time to go see Gran and Gramps!” Josh calls.
The four of you were heading to Michigan. It had been since Halloween that you’d been able to go. With bags packed and loaded into the car, you headed to the airport. You’d decided to take a 2 hour flight instead of driving 9 hours with two toddlers. Everything went smoothly once there and before you knew it, you were on the plane headed north.
The plane ride there could’ve gone better but overall wasn't bad. Your two year old, Ophelia, was antsy and cranky for the first 45 minutes. But once she got a snack, everything was right with the world. Next thing you knew, the plane was preparing for landing.
After exiting the plane, Josh took the two year old to baggage claim and you took the four year old, Leeland, to the bathroom. The two of you finished washing your hands and headed over to baggage claim to meet up with Josh. As you drew closer, you spotted Karen and Kelly. It didn’t take long for your little one to spot them and yell, “Gran! Gramps!” and start running to them. Smiling as you walked up, you said hello and gave hugs.
When your bags finally came around, you all headed to the Kiszka house. Driving down the road, both your little ones took turns exclaiming, “Snow! Look Papa! Look Mama! Snow!”. Sure they’d seen snow before, but Nashville never had this much.
“Are we at the North Pole Papa?” Leeland asked.
Chuckling, Josh said, “You’d think so, but no buddy. This is where Papa grew up. It’s called Frankemuth.”
“Fankmuf.” Ophelia parroted.
“That’s right Ophy. Frankenmuth.”
When you arrived at the house, both kiddos were begging to play in the snow.
“We have to take our stuff inside first. Then we can play.” Josh said.
“It’s alright, we can take them in. Let those babies play!” Karen said, motioning for Kelly to grab the bags. Smiling you and Josh took Leeland and Ophelia around to the back.
Before you could make it back there, Leeland crouched down and scooped up some snow and threw it at Josh’s back.
“Oh so that’s how you want to play!” Josh teased, making a small snowball and throwing it back at Leeland. That was the start of an all out snowball fight. You and the kids against Josh. Laughing and screeching, the kids would run up to Josh and throw snow. He would pretend that they’d got him and fall to the ground moaning and groaning, making a big show of it.
This lasted until Karen stuck her head out of the window and told you to come on in for hot chocolate and cookies. Upon hearing that, Leeland grabbed Ophelia’s hand and said, “Come on sissy!” and led her inside. Watching the two of them head on in, Josh slid his arm around your waist and began walking with you.
“This is what it’s all about.” He said. “Being all together and playing with our perfect snow babies.”
You smile and kiss his cheek before saying, “They are pretty perfect. What would you say if I told you that there’s another snow baby on the way?”
Stopping mid stride, Josh turns to you. “Are you serious?” He asks and you nod your head. “Oh my god! I can’t believe it! We’re having another baby!” He exclaims.
“Actually, we’re having two babies.”
Josh’s face lights up even brighter. “Twins?!”
Just Friends
Eep sorry this chapter is soo late!! I was superrr busy today. Anywho, I hope you like this chapter! Not sure if I’ve ever written post-reveal pre-relationsip for Ladrien before but boy oh boy it sure was fun hehehe.
AO3
It was official.
Adrien Agreste was melting. Honestly, it was a wonder that it had happened before. Especially now that he knew that the two people that he had completely and utterly fallen for were one and the same.
Marinette was Ladybug and honestly finding that out had been the happiest day of his life. Nothing would ever... could ever compare.
It had been an accident at the time. He had dove into the locker room and mere seconds later had transformed back into Adrien. Giving Plagg his cheese to give him time to recuperate after the akuma attack, he was about to duck out when someone else crashed into the room.
Ladybug’s wide eyes greeted him mere seconds before pink light enveloped her. Adrien didn’t even have time to think about closing his eyes before she detransformed into Marinette.
His heart was racing as he gaped at her. Because wow. Suddenly everything made so much more sense now. Why he had gotten tingles for the brief second Marinette had kissed him at the Grévin Museum. Why he always wanted to be near her. Why his heart pounded whenever she giggled or laughed or even smiled at something he said.
How had it taken him so long to notice?
Whilst Adrien was still experiencing the high of euphoria, though, he noticed that Marinette’s breaths were coming shorter and shorter. She was panicked. Completely and utterly terrified. He had to say something. Had to reassure her that everything was going to be alright.
Clearing his throat, he took a cautious step toward her. “Marinette, are you okay?”
She shook her head, clenching her eyes tightly shut. Adrien took another step towards her, noticing Tikki glancing between the two nervously. Slowly, he reached out, touching her hand softly. When she didn’t pull back, he took it and gave a quick squeeze.
“It’s going to be alright, Marinette. We’ll get through this... together. Just like we always have. You and me against the world, remember?”
Her eyes slowly peered open, confusion swirling in them. He simply grinned at her until recognition mixed with uncertainty in her expression. “Ch-Chat?”
Intertwining their fingers, his grin got even larger. “Hey, bugaboo.”
In the next second, Adrien got an armful of Marinette as she threw herself at him. She wrapped her arms around his neck, burying her head in his shoulder. This must be what heaven was like because he couldn’t imagine anything sweeter. Closing his eyes, he hugged her back, inhaling the wonderful aroma of vanilla and strawberries.
Adrien could have stayed just like that. With Marinette cuddled tightly to his chest and his nose buried in the scent of her hair, he could have stayed there for an eternity.
The sound of the bell was a brutal reminder of why they even had the opportunity of revealing their identities. It was time for class which unfortunately meant he’d have to part from her arms.
Reluctantly, he pulled back, already mourning the feel of her warm arms around him. Marinette’s eyes simply sparkled as she grinned up at him.
“Later,” she murmured. “We’ll talk later.”
Talk later they did. In fact, it was difficult to get them to stop talking now. They grew even closer because of the reveal, sending each other secret looks and smiles during class.
Some days Adrien snuck over to her house as Chat Noir and other days Marinette snuck over as Ladybug.
They were at his house at the moment. They were stretched out across his white sofa. His head was in Ladybug’s lap as something played on TV. He wasn’t paying attention though. The only thing Adrien was listening for were her soft breaths and chuckles at the show. Every so often, she’d swipe a hand over his hair causing his eyes to flutter shut.
He loved her. Every single giggle set his heart aflutter. He was practically bursting at the seams to tell her. To declare just how overjoyed he was about the fact that he had fallen in love with her twice.
But Adrien couldn’t... not anymore. Not now that it had the potential to ruin any closeness that they had garnered.
No. They were just friends. And that’s all they’d ever be.
Honestly, though, that’s all he needed. Ladybug was amazing and he’d rather have her in his life than not at all.
Adrien couldn’t stop himself from shuddering at the thought. Yep. Friendship was just fine for him. Besides, he already knew that she was in love with someone else.
A thought caused a furrow to form between his brows. He peered up at Ladybug some of the curiosity fading as he saw her bright smile. It wasn’t enough to keep him from asking the question though. “Is the guy you’re in love with and Buttercup the same person?”
Adrien watched as Ladybug slowly tensed. Her shoulders stiffened as she glanced down at him. Her blue eyes were wide, filled with... fear? Just as soon as he saw the emotion, though, she flicked her gaze away. “Where did that thought come from?” She chuckled almost nervously, waving a gloved hand in the air.
He shrugged, shifting slightly in her lap as he tried to push down the bitterness. It was almost definitely the same person.
“Just curious is all.”
“Oh, um well...,” Ladybug trailed off before looking back down at him. Her eyes were soft. Softer than he had ever seen them before. “Yes, yes, he is,” she whispered.
There was something loving about her tone and this time Adrien couldn’t clamp down on the wave of jealousy. Her declaration had been beautiful. Whoever it was was so lucky, and he didn’t even know.
Adrien crossed his arms, scoffing quietly. This time it was Ladybug’s turn to frown and how was it possible for her to do that and still look so adorable? That little wrinkle in her mask was so cute. It was hard for him to remain jealous.
“I-Is something wrong, Adrien?” she asked, sounding worried again.
Immediately, he blinked, shaking his head. He couldn’t let her feel bad! Not for his own sour feelings.
“No, not at all! I was just thinking.”
“Thinking about what?” Ladybug murmured, brushing some of his hair away from his face.
Don’t do it! Don’t do it!
Adrien’s thoughts begged him to stop but he couldn’t stop himself from blurting out, “I just think it’s kind of stupid.”
Her lips parted and she looked astounded and a little bit hurt. Quickly, he rushed to clarify, “I-I mean because of how oblivious this guy is! Obviously not because of you. You’re amazing. I’m just mad that he doesn’t reciprocate your feelings!”
The hurt left Ladybug’s face, leaving traces of what seemed to be amusement glimmering in her sapphire eyes. But why was she amused?
“I’m not so sure he even knows.” She giggled softly.
Adrien frowned. Surely Ladybug should’ve been upset by this notion but instead, it seemed like her amusement simply grew. A hint of mischief teased across her smile as it grew.
Either way, he sat up, gesturing wildly as he scoffed again. “Well, then that’s even more ridiculous! If it were me you lo—”
He clamped his mouth shut. Ladybug’s eyes had widened to the point of saucers. He was sure his own mirrored hers. What had he been thinking? Now he was going to get rejected again.
And what if—now that she knew—she left? What if she decided that she was done with their meet-ups and silly talks and glances at school and left him? Adrien bit down sharply on the tip of his tongue, ignoring the pain. He was doomed. All because he couldn’t keep his jealousy to himself.
“Y-you’d what?” she whispered, her voice sounding choked.
He clenched his eyes shut. How could he fix this? Chuckling nervously, he scratched the back of his neck as he tried to brush off his slip-up. “Can’t we just forget it? I shouldn’t have even brought it up in the first place.”
“Adrien.” The word sounded so important—so vastly important that he simply had to turn his head to hers, connecting their gazes. Ladybug’s eyes were so intense that he found himself holding his breath. “P-please... what would you do?”
He was drawn to her. To the hope in her voice and the something that was flickering across her face. Slowly, ever so slowly, he scooted closer to her. He had to try.
“I’d... I’d,” Adrien trailed off, biting his lip as worry overwhelmed him. He glanced down as nerves churned in his stomach. What if he was wrong and the hope was actually panic? Before he could spiral any further, though, a hand gently rested on top of his.
Blinking back up at her, he saw the soft, sweet smile on Ladybug’s lips. She nodded her head as if to say it was okay and that was all the reassurance he needed.
“I’d tell you that when I first heard that beautiful confession to Buttercup at the end of our trip to the movies I was suddenly struck by two different emotions. Awe and envy.”
Ladybug tilted her head in confusion. “Envy?”
He nodded, his heart pounding. “It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard, Ladybug. And, at the time, I was confused by the sudden pain in my chest I got just from knowing that confession was for someone else.”
She gasped. “Even then?”
“Even then.”
All at once, he was wrapped around Ladybug as she threw herself at him. Her lips found his in a desperate kiss. It took a great deal of effort, but Adrien had to know the truth.
Just barely managing to pull himself away from her, his eyes flicked between hers, searching for any sign that she was lying to him. “A-are you serious? Buttercup’s me?”
“Always has been.” A wobbly smile was on her face as she sniffled.
Adrien felt dizzy, struck by the fact that he was the idiot the whole time. Even still, that didn’t stop him from being the one to surge forward this time as he connected their lips once more.
How could he ever have been content with just being friends? Ladybug’s lips were sweeter than he had ever dreamed them to be. He could spend the rest of his life kissing her. And, suddenly, he fully planned on doing that. Was marriage too soon to propose while they were still in school?
He’d ask her later. Right now, he was too busy nibbling on the bottom of her lip as she moved even closer to him. There’d be time for serious discussions later. Right now, Adrien just wanted to kiss his future wife.
You Make Me Smile
Summary: Peter 1's been struggling so Peter 3 offers to help ❤️
CW: Mentions of depression/depressive episodes
(Sorry I haven't posted much writing in a while ❤️ My life has been crazy busy and I just haven't had the time or energy to do so ❤️ I'm back, I'm working on some prompts that I'll be able to post soon, and I just want you to know how appreciated you all are :) Hope you all enjoy and remember to take care of yourselves no matter how small the task may seem ❤️)
Peter 3 peeked into One's room. For the last couple weeks, One hadn't been himself. He had been super quiet and withdrawn, there were big circles under his eyes, and he didn't seem to be taking proper care of himself.
It was as if all the energy had been removed from his body and left nothing but a silent husk of a person in it's place.
Both Peter 2 and 3 were trying to help, but nothing they tried seemed to do any good.
Today, the youngest had been particularly quiet. "Uno? You okay?"
The youngest Peter did not reply.
The middle Peter pushed the door open more. "Could I come in?"
There was still no reply, but he also wasn't turned away this time.
Peter 3 stepped up to the bed. Currently, One was buried under a blanket with only a few tufts of hair peeking out.
"Hey Bug." The middle Peter sat on the edge of the bed. "Having another rough day?"
A face peeked out from the depth of the blanket and gave a quick nod.
"You've had a crazy past couple weeks." Three squeezed roughly were One's arm was. "Your mind being tough on you again?"
Another tiny nod.
"I've been there before and I know it can be tough. Is there anything I can do to help?"
For a moment, things were quiet.
Then a hand slid out to grab onto Three's.
The older Peter smiled. "Want me to hold you?"
Peter 1 moved to sit up still keeping one hand on Three's.
The tallest Peter cooed as he scooped his baby brother into his lap. "C'mere."
Once in his older brother's lap, Peter 1 curled into a ball.
Three rubbed circles into the youngest's back. "There we go. A good cuddle."
While Three kept up his circles, the youngest wrapped his arms around his brother and buried his face into his chest.
"I'm here if you need me Bug."
One hummed in contentment.
The older Peter lifted the hood of his baby brother's jammies over his head. "Simba."
In response, Peter 1 hid his face more into Three's chest.
"Whahat's wrong Bugaboo?" The older brother traced the youngest's ear with his finger.
One turtled into his shoulders.
"Uh-oh. You're not ticklish are you?"
No verbal response. Just the eyes on One's hood staring back at Peter 3.
Three moved his hand down to run his fingers over Peter 1's back. "Ihim getting the goofiest lohooks from yohou Sihimba."
One turtled even further into his shoulders.
"Ooo. I think Ihi hahave a ticklish lion cub ohon my hands."
Peter 1 tightened his hold as his shoulders began to shake a little.
"You're tryhying soho hard to keep your face hiddehen." Peter 3 leaned closer. "But I can stihill feel yohou bluhushing."
No response.
"Oh? Did it just darken?"
The youngest shook his head.
"Then why don't you show mehe." The older brother dragged his nails across One's shoulder blades.
A muffled squeal came from the youngest's mouth as he tried to arch his back away from those fingers.
Meanwhile, Peter 3 reached behind him to try to loosen One's grip. "Come out, come out wherever you are!"
"No!"
Three paused his movements. "No?"
A head shake. "Noho!"
"You don't want me to see your blushy face?"
"Noooo."
"Is thahat all yohou can sahay?" Three's fingers continued their attack on One's shoulder blades. "No, no, noho?"
"Eee! No!"
The same hand snuck down to lightly pinch One's sides. "Really? Is it just too tickly?"
"N-n-noho."
"Oh?" Peter 3 moved the pinches to the other side. "What about over here?"
A squeal followed by a head shake was the answer this time.
"Is one side more ticklish than the other?" Peter 3 lightly pinched between both sides.
One squirmed a little too much and revealed his face.
"Ihi knew you were blushyhy." Three tapped the youngest's nose. "Youw were juwst being stubbowrn."
One shook his head.
"Now you're lying toho mehe?" Three returned to dragging his fingernail on one of One's ear. "What's gotten into you giggle Bug?"
The youngest curled up on his side. A continous stream of giggles filled the silence in the room and the happiness on his face replaced the dead stare that had been there.
It filled Three's heart feel all warm and fuzzy to see the look. He knew the brain could be a pain in the butt and having a chance to be goofy and childish helped make things a little easier to tolerate. "You're such a cute little Giggle Bug. Soho itty-bitty tiny."
Suddenly, Peter 1 shot up and wrapped his arms around Peter 3's neck.
The sudden movement caused the older Peter to fall backwards onto the bed. "Wow! What ahare you dohoing?"
Peter 1 nuzzled his face into Three's neck, catching the older brother by surprise.
"Ah! Hehey!"
The mischievous giggles coming from the youngest made the whole interaction even more adorable. And that little grin made him even more precious.
Peter 3 let One have a few more moments being the tickle monster before he retaliated.
The older brother pinched along his baby brother's sides. "I got you!"
With a squeal, the youngest Peter tried to lean away, but an arm prevented him from going very far.
"Where do you think you're going hm?" Peter 3 lightly scribbled across his baby brother's tummy. "Does the little baby not like his tickles?"
Peter 1 shook his head.
"Awww, does he love them?"
"Nohoho!"
"What? Is the tickle monster not doing it right?"
"Noho!"
Three pulled the youngest closer. "Let's fix that."
A loud squeal left the youngest's mouth as his older brother's face nuzzled into his neck. The whiskery feeling from his unshaven face made things even more ticklish.
Not knowing what to do with his hands, One grabbed onto Three's hair.
"Ah!" Peter 3 grabbed One's hand. "Careful Bug."
The youngest Peter let go. "Sorry."
"Hehey, it got you to say something other thahan noho."
One stuck his tongue out at his brother.
Three growled as he leaned closer. "Are you being a sassy bean?"
A brief pause.
"No!"
The older brother tried to bite back his smile, but it was hard when he had such a cute face in front of him. "You know whahat I do to sassy beans?"
One shook his head.
"You don't?"
"No!"
"Wehell then." Three rested his forehead on his baby brother's. "Why don't Ihi show you?"
Before Peter 1 could respond, Three started peppering kisses into his face and neck. In addition, he made sure to rub every inch of his facial hair over the area to make it tickle even more.
Once Peter 1 was a blushy giggle mess, Three finally paused his tickles. He grinned at the sight of his bubbly baby brother. "Aww, whose the most pwecious wittwe baby?"
"N . . . Noho?"
"Are you ahasking me ohor telling mehe?"
In response, One pulled his hood over his eyes.
Three gasped. "Oh no! Where did he go!"
One's giggles picked back up.
"He just disappeared!" Three grabbed the edge of his hood. "Where could he have gone!"
The youngest squeezed his lips to try to muffle his giggles.
Three smirked as he pulled back the hood. "Peekaboo!"
One squeaked and hid his mouth behind his hands.
"Yohou claim you're nohot aha baby and yehet this is yohour favorite game."
"No!"
The older brother's smirk grew at the pinkish hue on his baby brother's cheeks. "Oho really?"
Both brothers were locked in a staring contest.
Without breaking eye contact, One slowly reached up his hand, grabbed his hood, and yanked it over his eyes again.
Three reached foward and quickly pulled it back again. "Peekaboo!"
Another squeal and bout of giggles followed.
"Sehee? Absolutely aha baby."
"Yohou're mehehean!"
"Awww." The older Peter kissed his brother's nose. "Are you mad cause Ihi stohopped?"
The youngest Peter hid his face in his hands.
However, that did not deter Three from pulling them back again. "Peekaboo!"
A third squeal and giggle bout betrayed the youngest.
"Yohou know whahat other things babies usuallyhy love?"
". . . Cuddles?"
Peter 3 scooped his baby brother back up into his arms. "Cuddles indeheed."
Peter 1 wrapped his arms around his brother's neck before resting his face in the crook of his neck.
"Hey Bubba?" Three rubbed his brother's back. "I know you've been going through a rough couple weeks, but when was the last time you ate something?"
One furrowed his eye brows together. He began counting on his fingers before his face flushed again.
"I know it's been tough, but you can't forget your health like that."
"I . . . I. . ."
Three stroked One's hair. "I'm not mad at you, I'm not yelling at you. I've been where you are, I've done the same thing. But I know it's not good for your body when you do something like that.
One gave a small nod as a response.
Peter 3 stood with his younger brother in his arms. "You don't need to eat anything big, but you do need to eat something."
"I know."
After a quick adjustment, Three kissed One's forehead so he could sniff his hair. He chose not to comment since he knew the last couple weeks had been rough on the youngest.
Instead, he focused on the important thing as he gave his baby brother's tummy a gentle poke. "Let's get some food in your tummy."
One giggled as he pushed on his brother's hand. "Ohokay."
"Now, what do you think you can eat?"
After a brief pause, One looked up at his brother. "Banana?"
"Why are you asking me Pete? It's your tummy."
The youngest Peter nodded. "Okay. Banana."
"Can we add anything else to it or just banana right now?"
"Yogurt?"
"We have them if you think you can eat one."
"Yes please."
Three nodded. "We can do that."
In response, One genuinely smiled.
"Want me to carry you?"
"Please?"
Three grinned back. "Okay."
With One in his arms, the older Peter headed downstairs. He knew the situation wasn't completely remedied, but it was on the right track to getting better.
They would start with a meal and move on from there.
So my dear friend @rustyace asked me to write more from @peakwonderfulness's new baby brother au, but with Adrienette all grown up taking care of their own baby, so here we are:
Marinette couldn't believe how much time had flown by. She could remember her mother telling her she was pregnant, the birth of her baby brother, and babysitting him with Adrien steadfastly by her side; it seemed only yesterday when Adrien confided in her brother sleeping in his arms that he would like to marry her one day, his intentions carrying though the baby monitor's connection. Now, Henri was 10 years old and well on his way to being taller than she was at his age (winning Adrien 20 Euro from her with that bet), and would now help their parents in babysitting hers and Adrien's child, Emma. She was grateful to Henri for being a part of her life; it was out of love and care for him that she eventually confided in her parents and in Adrien that she was Ladybug - they needed to know in case an akuma attack arose and she couldn't look after Henri for them - which lead to the surprise reveal of Adrien being Chat Noir. After that point, Adrien was a permanent fixture in the Dupain-Cheng household, and made it official when he took her name on their wedding day. Adrien stayed true to his promise of always being there for Henri, making the bond between them more like brothers than brothers-in-law; the first time Henri introduced Adrien as his brother ended up with Adrien crying as Henri wiped away his tears, which lead to Marinette and her parents crying. His Aunt Amelie and cousin Félix (who Henri was introducing himself to) were slightly confused by the emotional affair. Marinette watched as Adrien tucked the sleeping Emma into her cot, the young girl exhausted from her 1st birthday party. As Adrien straightened, Marinette shuffled up behind him and wrapped her arms around his waist, placing a silent kiss to his shoulder. "Can you believe our angel is already one, Chaton?" she whispered. Adrien shook his head fondly, his gaze unwavering from their daughter. "She's growing up so fast, m'lady. I'm afraid if I look away that I'll blink and she'll be a teenager, and that I would have missed it all." "I know," she agreed, shifting to stand beside him to get a better view of Emma. "I felt the same when Henri was a baby, remember? And that's when we had school and extracurriculars and superhero duties every single day, but we did well to be there for him then, didn't we? So I believe we'll be okay with our own children." "You're right, Bugaboo," he conceded softly, "but can we just stay here a little longer?" "Of course, kitty." They stood there watching Emma sleep peacefully for a few minutes more before silently leaving the room. They had barely entered the lounge room when Tikki zipped over to them, practically buzzing with excitement. "Have you told him yet, Marinette?" she asked, her flipper-like hands shaking with excess energy. "I'm just about to, Tikki," Marinette reassured, causing Tikki to do a backflip in the air. "Told me what, my Queen?" Adrien inquired. Marinette extracted herself from his arms to reach into her pocket and pull out a familiar white stick and hand it to him. She watched as his eyes widened and his gaze flicking between her and the stick in his hand. "Is this...." "Yep." "You're pregnant?" "Yep." "How long have you known?" "Since this morning - I wanted to make sure we celebrated Emma's birthday without distraction today before telling you." "We're having ano- we're having another baby!!" he exclaimed excitedly, wrapping her up in his arms and spinning her around in delight. "Oh, I love you, Marinette." "I love you too, Adrien." "You guys are having another baby?" Adrien and Marinette turned to see Henri coming out of the bathroom - in their excitement, they had forgotten he was staying over for the night. "We are," Marinette confirmed. "Congratulations!" Henri cried, running over to them and joining the hug. "I'm so happy for you! Can I tell mum and dad? No, you guys should do that. Can I tell my friends? They all love Emma and I know they'd be so happy to hear about a new baby-"
The Maribug Fic
I'm back, long hiatus, I know, it was unplanned and I hope the next chapter comes out sooner. Now onto the chapter.
[Fanfiction.net] || [AO3]
[Chapter 1] || [< (4) Prev Chapter]
Ladybug stood on top of the Kidz Plus studio. She was wondering what she was going to say Cat Noir. Never mentioning her crush on... herself would be optimal but there was a voice screaming from the back of her head that told her otherwise. She had a bad feeling that Cat Noir, bless his cute loving heart, had found out that Marinette confessed her feelings to... herself and would try to be the wingman in their relationship. The relationship between herself and herself.
She suddenly felt like calling in sick (could she even do that?), she didn't know how she could avoid this situation. It was easier when it was just with Cat Noir. They were two different people and back when she didn't have feelings for him, all she had to do was just accept his rejection and wipe away fake tears. Aside from the fact that her papa got akumatized, everyone got out unscathed.
Memories of that day filled her head again and she wanted to call in sick. It wasn't too late for that.
"Hey there, Bugaboo!" It was too late for that. "Hope you weren't waiting too long." Ladybug turned around to face Cat Noir. They hadn't even done anything yet he had a huge chesrian grin on his face.
"No, you didn't keep me waiting. I just got here a minute ago." Despite trying to keep a calm demeanor, she could tell that Cat Noir was onto her. It wouldn't take a genius to figure that one out though. She was fidgeting and sweating too much, clearly trying to hide something.
He looked at her intently and she silently prayed that he wouldn't ask her about her love life. "You know, Bugaboo, you seem a bit tense for today. I think I know just what you need to relax."
"What's that?"
"It's a surprise!" He explained excitedly as he pulled out his pole, "just follow me and you won't regret it."
Considering the position she was in, he could stab her in an alleyway and she wouldn't regret it. Thinking about iterally any thing else other than the fact that she supposedly has a crush on herself is a million times better for her. "Alright then, Cat," she pulled out her yo-yo, "lead the way."
Cat Noir catapulted himself into the air with his pole and Ladybug threw her yo-yo in the same direction as him. As they were jumping over the city of Paris, she made sure to do her due diligence and look around. Even though she was being led to a mysterious secondary location, she was still on the clock and if there was an akuma, she needed to know about it. For the most part, everyone seemed the same as usual. Friends spending time together, parents with their kids, school students doing extra circular activities. Wait a minute, she knew that school...
She suddenly paid attention to where they were and realized that they were at Collège Françoise Dupont, Cat Noir's never been here for non-akuma reasons so there's nothing here he would be interested in. She looked up and saw Cat Noir finally land at his final location. It was her family's bakery. Was it too late to call in sick?
The shock of seeing her house made her lose her focus and she messed up her landing. She fell from nearly 50 meters from the air and landed directly on her face yet that was the least painful part of her current situation.
"Cat! Why did you bring me here!?"
"Like I said, you need to relax and there's no better to relax than eating good food. The owners are really nice and..."
"And they're the parents of Marinette!" Ladybug finished. "Cat, we cannot go in there!"
"Bugaboo, I get it. You're nervous about your crush on Marinette, I know what that's like and how hard it can be, which is why we're just getting pastries. Besides, Marinette's probably in her room doing homework right now."
Ladybug managed a smile, it was clearly a forced smile but she managed to muster one. "Yooooooou're riiiight. She's a student, there's no way that we'll see her. Yep! Never see her when we walk in there."
Cat Noir accepted her answer and they walked in.
Walking in here like this felt weird. She lived here yet in this moment, she felt like a stranger. There were two people standing in line together and as soon as the two of them walked in, all heads turned to them.
"Woah," one of the customers said, "it's Ladybug and Cat Noir!"
"Can I get your autograph!" Another one said.
Ladybug was still too shocked to say anything. Should she say anything? She barely trusted her own mouth to avoid saying something about her new crush on Marinette. Why couldn't she just think about something else?
Luckily, Cat Noir was still as talkative as ever. "Sure, we'll gladly sign anything you want. We love meeting fans." The customers squealed excitedly, as they both signed their autographs on their pastry box. Once they were done, they both left the bakery cheerfully and Ladybug heard one of shout "this is the best day of my life!" It made her feel happy, not only do they have to worry about two less people getting akumatized today, she was happy knowing that she could be a comforting presence in other people's lives.
Her own life not so much.
Now that it was just the two of them, they could order. It also meant that they could leave quicker.
"What would you two like?" Her maman was asking so nicely but Ladybug still couldn't find the strength to open her mouth. At this point, she might just blab her secret identity to everyone here.
She looked at Cat Noir. He was about to say something but then stopped. "I just realized that I don't carry any money on me. Sorry m'lady but could I borrow..."
"Nonsense," her papa interrupted. "You two have saved Paris from unimaginably threats countless times. This one is on us!"
She could tell that made him happy. Maybe she could use this to her advantage in the future. He liked pastries so they could go to a completely different bakery and... no! Focus! Now is not the time to think about going on a date with Cat Noir. She had to get out of here immediately.
"And what about you, Ladybug?" She didn't even realize that Cat Noir had said his order. Even though she lived here and could eat anything in the bakery any time she wanted, she still got choice paralysis. What is she supposed to chose? Something different than what Marinette would chose? But then what would Marinette chose? She was already a very indecisive person and it wouldn't be right to take advantage of her parents' generosity and say something like "one of everything."
After standing there for the longest three seconds of her life, she finally decided on her order. "Some strawberry macaroons would be good." She liked macaroons and she knew that it would make Tikki happy.
"Oh that's a great choice!" Her maman pulled out a box of macaroons for her and a bag of whatever pastry that Cat Noir ordered. "Y'know, strawberry macaroons are actually my daughter's favorite macaroons."
No! No! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! This wasn't happening. This was not happening.
"Oh really, Mrs. Cheng? Sounds like Marinette has great taste."
"She is the daughter to two bakers, I would sure hope she has great taste." The two of them giggled at the comment but Ladybug stood there gaping like a fish. This whole situation was a disaster. Why did her maman bring that up? And why did Cat Noir have to be so charming?
She considered just sprinting away. Run all the way to Shang-Hai and live with her uncle Wang and Fei for the rest of her life. She could do it. She could start running right now and no one could stop her.
Her gaping expression hadn't gone unnoticed by her papa though. He asked, "Ladybug, are you okay? You look worried."
"Yeah, I'm fine... I'm just..." She realized there was no way around it, she could only go through it "really surprised about that. It's especially nice..." she was really saying this on purpose now "because now I know I like the same types of macaroons as the person I... am in love with."
The room went silent. It's almost as if time stood still. But just as quickly as the silence started, the bakery was filled with cheers. Her parents and Cat Noir were all excited to hear the news. She couldn't make out what any of them were saying to each other because they were all talking over each other.
Once the initial shock wore off, her papa walked up to her and asked the dreaded question. "Would you like to come over for dinner one day?"
Suffered so much second hand embarrassment writing this chapter. At this rate, Marinette is going to convince all of Paris that she's in love with herself. Anyway, hopefully the next one comes out sooner and have a good day my dudes.
Pairing(s): Adrien Agreste/Juleka Couffaine (Chat Noir/Purple Tigress) Marinette Dupain-Cheng/Nathaniel Kurtzberg
Rating: Teen
Archive Warnings (if any): N/A
Trigger Warnings (if any): Past character death, temporary character death
Summary: After Rose's passing, Juleka becomes extremely depressed. No matter what people tried, they weren't able to make her smile since then. After bringing Rena into the fight for the first time, Marinette realizes that just because she isn't able to help Juleka doesn't mean that Ladybug can't. Ladybug gives Juleka a kwami, someone she can talk to and will be able to ask for advice and assistance. Before she starts her journey with Roaar, Ladybug introduces Purple Tigress to Chat Noir and to Ladybug's surprise, she smiles. Not only smiles, she laughs! Of course her kitty would be able to bring some joy into her friend. Chat and Tigress begin spending patrol together every night, and soon enough their friendship grows into romantic attraction
Snippet:
Chat Noir was used to Ladybug being a little late to patrol, and he was usually very early for them, but when he got a message from her before he transformed saying she would be late, he was confused to say the least. It was nearly fifteen minutes past their planned start of the patrol when Ladybug landed on the rooftop along with another miraculous holder.
“Sorry I’m late, Chaton. I had to introduce a new holder to her kwami.” Ladybug held her hand out to try and have the new heroine step forward, but it was clear she was still nervous. Her outfit was like nothing he would have expected from a miraculous holder.
She was wearing a large purple and silver hoodie with gold and black stripes, her hood was pulled up which covered most of her purple locks. The top of her hood had small fluffy striped ears which Chat thought was just adorable. She had on a pair of thick leggings that were obviously very fuzzy on the inside which could be seen from the apparent claw marks that seemed to tear them open causing golden fluff to spill out furthering the tiger aesthetic. On her feet, she had a pair of slippers that had to be based on her kwami.
The tiger girl waved slightly but didn’t dare move forward. Chat could see how scared she was not only with how she presented herself, but how her cat features reinforced her body language. He looked at Ladybug with a questioning tilt of his head, but she was looking at the purple hero expectantly which shifted to a look of helplessness. He couldn’t let his lady feel like that, not when he could help.
Chat moved forward and gently took one of the new heroine’s hands and kissed her purple knuckles like he did for Rena. “I’m Chat Noir, it’s wonderful to meet another hero. What’s your name?”
Her golden eyes widened, darting between Chat Noir and Ladybug. Chat thought he might have overdone it, and was about to backtrack when a soft voice answered him. “Prple Tigrss." It took him a moment to realize she said Purple Tigress in her mumbling, but once he processed her name his eyes lit up. “You said Purple Tigress?” A small nod in return had his smile coming out in full. Chat turned to Ladybug quickly. “Bugaboo, you got me a little hiss-ter? Thank you so much, I love her already!”
Letting a purr rumble in his chest, he circled his new hiss-ter gentle butting his head against her head and shoulders. He normally wouldn’t act so much like a cat, he was definitely playing it up, but it was clear his new sister needed some cheering up. He never had a sister, but he hoped he wouldn’t lose her because of this.
“Chaaat-” Ladybug’s warning tone made him freeze in place, until another sound caused both of them to freeze. A giggle. It was small, quiet, and a bit shaky, but they both heard it. Purple Tigress laughed.
“It’s nice to meet my big purr-ther.”
Chat internally cheered. “I like the sound of that!” He moved back in front of her, his tail wrapping around her leg on its own. “Will you be patrolling with us? You’re the first extra hero to join us for patrol, how cool!”
He turned to Ladybug for confirmation, but instantly froze seeing tears in her eyes with one hand covering her mouth.
“My lady?” Chat didn’t know how to take her reaction. He’d never seen her like that before, and the situation seemed to be an odd one for such a strong reaction. “Are you ok?”
Purple Tigress also turned to see Ladybug’s reaction, her head tilted ever so slightly as she watched her. Ladybug wiped the tears out of her eyes as she took a breath and moved forward.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just so happy.” She took one more breath to hopefully get the shakiness out of her voice. “Chat, this is Purple Tigress. She’ll be patrolling with us, but she’s not going to be fighting with us unless she decides to later.”
Chat was obviously still confused, but he moved on figuring he would get to talk to Ladybug later. “Your costume is so interesting. I guess since you won’t be fighting you don’t need to really look like a hero.” Her outfit looked so comfortable, he was kinda jealous. On her right hand she had large golden claws which made his own look rather small, and on her back she had a large interesting design. “The black and gold rose on your back is really cool!”
Her back instantly straightened. “R-rose?”
“It’s beautiful.” Ladybug commented, placing her hand on Tigress’s shoulder. “It’s a large part of your hoodie’s back, I know you can’t see it now, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t still a part of who you are.”
Tigress lowered her head and pulled on her bolas which tightened the hoodie around her face. “I don’t want it behind me though.”
Ladybug pulled Tigress in for a small hug. “We don’t always get a choice about these things.” She opened up the hood and looked up at the purple girl. “We have to make the most of what we have no matter how hard it is. Are you still up for patrol tonight?”
Blinking the tears out of her eyes, she nodded. “I’m already hre.”
Ladybug looked at Chat who didn’t know what to do. He obviously knew something was going on, and the situation was a sensitive one. Chat wanted to do something, to help his new hiss-ter, but didn’t know how to help.
“Chat, I’ll lead the patrol tonight. Stick with Tigress and make sure she can jump across the rooftops.” Ladybug instructed. Her partner nodded quickly and moved up next to the new heroine.
“You should get the hang of it purr-ty quickly.” He lowered his voice to a whisper, “And even if you do fall, trust me it doesn’t hurt as bad as it would normally. I have lots of experience with that.”
He wasn’t able to get another laugh out of her, but the little smile she gave was more than enough in his opinion.
LadyNoir July Day 4:
The Wall Between Us
@ladynoirjuly
“M’Lady-“ Chat Noir started, but shortly thereafter felt his throat close off.
“Yes, Chat?”  She replied back hesitantly. Her voice equally unsure.
It’d been an incredibly ruff week. Multiple akuma attacks all dealing with university students who had failed the first few exams, anxiety, and studying.
One had the power to make every radio channel turn into lo-if study music, and other turned the museum into a giant house of flash cards; as weird as both of those sounds.
They were currently hiding from another, divided by a wall in the sewer and recharging their kwami’s.
Adrien sighed, staring out at the gray cement and trickling of sewage.
He fidgeted with his ring, “Bugaboo, I know we can’t reveal too much-“ There was a sharp inhale coming from the other side of the wall, so Adrien injected,
“Don’t worry, cats in the bag, I purrmise!”
“ It’s, being a superhero is a lot right now. My- my father he’s upset that I’m not . . . performing as well and my grades are slipping right before exams. Plus my friends and I have this huge final project before winter break and I feel like I’m not contributing to anything!” He sighed wrapping himself in his own arms, “And I just, I didn’t know who else to talk to . . .”
The problem was it wasn’t just the victims of Hawkmoth’s butterflies that were busy with finals. No, no, no! Paris’s very own, very teenage heroes were busy trying to study for their own.
Marinette turned and placed a hand against the wall, “Mon Minou.”
She knew, maybe better than anyone else, that Chat Noir secretly had a turbulent home life. That somehow battling crazy akumas by her side was a reprieve from what he faced everyday under the mask, but she also knew that there was a point where responsibilities between the two felt like a near impossible burden.
Suddenly she heard sniffling.
And then a half-hearted wet chuckle before some kind of purring. If she remembered right, his kwami Plagg could also do that.
“Hey, it’ll be alright kid.” A scratchy voice. Definitely Plagg.
Before Marinette could even think of anything to say, Tikki had zoomed towards the other side of the wall.
“It’s okay Chat Noir, let it all out!”
Marinette let out a breathy laugh, of course Tikki knew what to do.  She sure didn’t, but she had an idea.
“Chat Noir, I’m,” oh man, should she really do this?
A wet hum followed by a tissue being blown solidified her internal debate.
(Adrien Agreste as a fashion model, obviously has to keep a handkerchief on hand at all times for fashion sake.)
“I’m coming over there Chat!”
Chat Noir blubbered, “M’Lady wait! Right- right now? But I- but we. . .”
“Yes, just, just close your eyes. Okay?”
“Okay.”
Marinette placed her hand on the wall and rounded the corner until she found herself blindly reaching another arm out, which was caught before she pulled her kitty into a bear hug.
“Hey-“
“I don’t know who you are in your other life, but I do know that you’re my kitty. My partner, and I’m not letting you go through this alone. So, so we’re gonna stay like this until you need to, and get back to the battle! And then,” she hummed, rubbing circles onto his back, “we can do it again, okay?”
Adrien Agreste stood there squinting his eyes shut for dear life as the water works poured out of him. The girl he admired holding him fiercely in his arms, as duty called and a raging akuma with sticky notes covered the city.  Her duty to Paris put aside, he squeezed her back.
“Okay.”
He let her guide his forehead to drop on her shoulder, circles being traced onto his back. Plagg sitting on his head purring and Tikki hugging him around the neck.
This felt . . .  like being loved.
Chapter 61
Link
Just like the juxtaposition of the birth of the twins and Satine's death, I also really like the combo of very-recently widowed Obi-Wan attending a wedding.
This chapter contains a loving homage to Sallah's line, "Life goes on, Indy. There is the proof," from Raiders of the Lost Ark. (God, I wish we could get John Rhys Davies in Star Wars...)
Drinking until you lose feeling in your fingertips is something Legolas said in Return of the King (I think maybe only the extended editions?)
The name of the mother of the classmate of Ahsoka's who found weed in her room is an in-joke to myself and anyone who went to high school with me; we showed up one morning to find out the cops had come the day before and searched a bunch of lockers and had a list of people who were being suspended for possession. (I was in band; that basically meant we couldn't rehearse for the next three days because half our people were out LOL). Weed was not my particular bugaboo (and if it was, I hope I would have been smart enough not to bring it to school?), but I was a little nervous because I did have almost $100 cash in my locker because I was running an underground betting pool on our football team at the time.
Obviously different people have different preferences, but for my money, Einstein's in the best large-scale chain bagel place.
Obviously, Obi-Wan mixing alcohol and pills - and Anakin handing out his own prescription medication - is very much a 'don't try this at home' scenario. But I did want to make it clear that Anakin's not worried about drug interaction because he knows Obi-Wan's prescriptions as well as he knows his own, and that he's well aware he shouldn't be doing it, but he's so desperate to help Obi-Wan feel better he'll try just about anything. (This is also the boy who was dealing Xanax in high school, after all.)
Not that I should really be admitting this on the internet - and if you're a cop than I'm a fiction writer and this story is totally made up - but I am very much from a family where not sharing your pills would be, frankly, deeply rude. I kind of thought all families had a communal stash of muscle relaxants, honestly. Like, sure they might be a little expired, but if I ever had a headache I couldn't shake I'd have three aunts and a cousin all offering me the 'good' pain meds. I have one family member who went to pharmaceutical school because she figured it would be a shame to let all that knowledge about potential drug interactions go to waste. This was how we showed love!
Just before I left for college one of those aunts finally went to therapy, and she came back after her first session and was like, huge news, everybody, we all have something called generational trauma! Also, I flushed all my Vicodin down the garbage disposal. It took a while, but you can, actually, change family culture in a generation, and now we (well, most of us) are getting better about dealing with pain rather hiding it in alcohol and prescriptions. Or it's a work in progress, at least.
This is my first fic that I’ve written in like 10 years, so I would be so happy have some feedback! I hope you like it!
Allergy
Summary: Marinette is ready to reveal her feelings for Chat Noir over a moonlight picnic until he stops breathing...
Fluff and angst, hurt/comfort
https://archiveofourown.org/works/39868644
“You can’t die on me now, Kitty.” Marinette sobbed as she jumped from building to building, racing towards the hospital. Her kitty’s arms latched around her neck as she cradled him. “Hold me tighter. I’ve got you.”
“M.. my la...dy” He strained.
“Shhhh,” She whispered in between huffs after each jump. “I’m going to fix this.” Landing right in front of the hospital, she raced in. The automatic doors barely opened enough as she squeezed them through. “Please! He’s going into anaphylactic shock!”
The dark-haired man at the front desk dialed the phone, while a blonde woman in a white jacket supplied a gurney in an instant. “I used an EPI pen on him.” She told the nurse along with any information she knew. Unfortunately, for identity reasons she didn’t know much. She didn’t even know what he was allergic to.
Marinette placed Cat Noir on the stretcher as quickly and carefully as she could. Keeping their entwined hands close to her chest as she followed the nurse wherever she was taking him.
“Kitty, please,” She begged, tears falling from her eyes. “I can’t lose you.” She thought she saw a small smile on the corner of his lips before head rolled back into its rest. She felt his weak arm go limp.
“NO!” She reached out hoping to touch his face. Hold him, but they had reached the room and he was being taken inside.
“Oxygen.. He needs Oxygen.” She could hear the doctor commanding the room. Another nurse was explaining to her why she couldn't stay. That even heroes needed to rely on others sometimes. Honestly, Marinette barely heard anything. The nurse took her hand and led her away from the door as it shut firmly in front of her. Shades drawn. Only sounds of the doctor’s instructions, medical equipment and Cat Noir in pain.
Marinette wouldn’t budge no matter how hard the nurse tried to lead her to the waiting room. Eventually she gave up and let Paris’ hero huddle up on the wall facing the room, knees to her chest, waiting and listening for her partner.
“The scissors aren’t working…We can’t cut away the suit… Administer CPR” She heard from the room.
Her heart stopped. Incorrect. Her heart continued to beat and her kitty’s had stopped.
This was it. A before and after. She couldn’t do this without her Kitty. He always made her day brighter. He was kind and funny and generous and so supportive. He’s the other half of her heart. He was everything she could ever want and now…
GOD, how could she have been so stupid. They were just playing. Having a bit of banter and now THIS. She was lost. This is why she was the serious one. This is why if Cat Noir makes it, she’s never having fun again. Oh my god.. If… no, She thought. I can’t think that way.
Her thoughts traced back to the moments before this all happened.
“What’s that, Bugaboo?” Cat Noir cooed, reaching his claws for her surprise.
“Hold your tail, Kitty. Patrol first,” she said, sitting down next to him on the ledge. Their legs swinging, thighs just grazing each other. Marinette felt light, her heart beating faster than she’d like to admit.
Cat Noir grabbed hold of his leather appendage and stuck out his bottom lip. “Purrrty please, M’Lady. I’m starving!”
Marinette had rolled her eyes and tried to hide her smile. “So impatient.”
“What is your basket hiding? Please tell me you stopped at the Dupain-Cheng Bakery!”
“Maybe… for desert.” She smiled, turning her body to set up the picnic behind him. She had brought Italian soda, a charcuterie board, macarons and this entree from the new Thai restaurant.
“My Lady, all this food… we aren’t going on Patrol tonight, are we?”
“So, maybe I have other plans…stop looking at me like that, Kitty. Can we please have a nice picnic on the roof… we both need a break.” Marinette had bit her lip. Hopefully, he hadn’t figured her out. Hell, she had just realized that maybe she did want their partnership to be something more.
“I’d never say no to a present from you, Bugaboo. This is amazing.” He leaned forward a bit, then looked as if he thought better and sat down on the gingham blanket.
Marinette could feel a buzz between them. An electric energy she hoped he still felt too as they joked and ate on the rooftop.
“All this food has got me feline pretty good.” Cat Noir threw a grape and caught it in his mouth.
“C’mon Kitty, all this cheese and not one of your jokes is gouda.”
She couldn’t stop giggling, thinking for a moment that this was right. Exactly as it should be. It was so easy to be with her Kitty. With Adrien, she was so nervous, she didn’t really know him that well. But her Kitty… She didn’t even know his real name, but she could spend a lifetime laughing with him.
‘What is this?” He leaned toward the entrée.
“Oh! Try some!” She handed him half of the sandwich and they both took a bite.
“It’s delicious! I got this from that new restaurant that opened! Apparently it’s this new food made from chicken feathers… crazy, right?”
Cat Noir quickly dropped his sandwich. His eyes wide.
“What’s wrong?”
There was no time for him to explain. His breathing strained and his face began to swell.
Marinette restrained herself from screaming for help for her Kitty. She was Ladybug. She had to do something! “Miraculous Ladybug!” A red and black EPI pen fell to her lap.
Marinette’s trance was broken with one word. “Ladybug.” The doctor said, walking closer and closer to her. Her expression is unreadable.
Marinette’s spiraling thoughts echoed into a blank.
“He’s going to be alright.”
Suddenly, it felt like she couldn’t take a big enough breath. Hot tears streamed down her face. All the emotion she had tucked inside tumbled out. He’s alright. He’s okay. I won’t lose him.
“Please can I see him.” She begged. The doctor nodded and led her into the small room where Cat Noir was resting.
Marinette rushed over, catching his hand and pulling it into her. “I’m so sorry Kitty. I never meant to hurt you.”
“Bugaboo,” He said, opening his eyes. “You couldn’t have known.” He brushed his forehead to hers.
“I’m just so sorry… I wanted to give you the perfect night. Have fun like we always do, tell you my feelings but then you stopped breathing and I had to use the Miraculous Ladybug to get an EPI pen and rush you to the hospital and… I’m babbling. I’m just so glad you’re okay, Kitty.” She squeezed his hand tighter and gave a slight smile.
“Your feelings…?” Crap. He heard that part.
“Kitty, I think I’ve fallen in love with you…” She couldn’t keep it in any longer even if this might be the worst possible time to confess.
Cat Noir’s eyes grew wider and he didn’t say anything for what felt like minutes but was probably like 5 seconds.
“Finally” He grinned, nuzzling his head closer to Marinette's. His breathing was still a bit shallow but more pink was coming to his cheeks.
Marinette pushed him away slightly. “You scared me,” she laughed.
Cat Noir’s hand caressed her cheek, lightly brushing away the tears rolling down her cheek. “You know I’ve always cared for you, Ladybug.” She felt the press of his soft lips against her forehead.
“You missed” Marinette joked, leaning forward to kiss his perfect lips. His strong arms wrapped around her as her fingers ran through his blonde curls. She may or may not have scratched him behind the ear for good measure as they deepened the kiss.
Marinette pulled away after a few moments, not wanting to send the doctor running from her Kitty’s lack of oxygen. She had a million more kisses reay for him, anyways when he was feeling better.
If anyone opened the door, they would see Cat Noir laid in white sheets staring into the eyes of Ladybug by his bedside.
“You know,” Marinette started, “Why didn’t you just tell me you're allergic to peanut oil? There are so many people allergic to peanuts, it wouldn’t have compromised your identity.”
“I’m not… I’m allergic to feathers.’ He fidgeted, searching into his Lady’s eyes.
“Feathers?? How am I supposed to keep you safe? Why didn’t you say anything??”
“Uhh..”
“And what kind of allergy is feathers, it’s so random, I only know one other person…” Marinette paused. Oh, crap. She was in love with Cat Noir who was also her old crush.
“You're Adrien Agreste.” She smirked.
“I can’t be…” Cat noir stammered, sitting up straighter in his bed. “Adrien doesn’t have any allergies.”
“Yes, he does!” Marinette had him. Literally and figuratively. “I know because when I made… made a run to the shop, I bought a magazine with an article all about Adrien.”
Adrien’s eyes narrowed before smiling. “Why are you reading articles about me?”
“Oh it’s you, I’m so happy!” She bounded toward him and hugged him tight. “I’m so glad you’re safe and you’re… well… you!” His arms wrapped around her waist.
“I’ve waited so long for you to say that to me, Marinette. I love you so much.”
Her kitty saying I love you was nothing new. Her growing feelings, her new realization that the boy she had hoped was the boy who was also always there, all of it was so wonderful. Her lips found his and they shared another soft, meaningful kiss.
“Wait” she broke the kiss suddenly. Her hands pressed firmly on his chest. “You called me…”
He smiled, “I was wondering when you’d realize that.” He planted a kiss on her forehead and smirked.
“But…”
“They’ve never printed my allergy in a magazine and I remember when you made me that hat,” he joked.
Marinette rolled her eyes, pretending to be annoyed at her slip. But really she was so, so happy. Her Kitty was okay! Her Kitty was in love with her, too! She was so excited for the next chapter of their lives.
hi! do you think you could do a blurb on dad jake, where your daughter misses him on tour so you have to call him to handle it? <3
Awe! Absolutely!
Warnings: none
Jake had been away on tour for a month. He'd FaceTime every night he could, but that wasn't enough for your little lady.
"Mommy! See Dada?" She asked holding up her tablet.
"No, baby. I'm sorry. Dada's working right now. But we can call him later!"
"No!" She yelled, trying to shove the tablet into your hands so you'd calm him.
Sitting the tablet down, you knelt in front of your little girl and held her hands.
Sighing you say, "I know you're feeling sad because you miss Dada. I miss him too. It's okay to feel sad. Would you like a cuddle?"
She nods her head yes and you sit on the floor. You let her climb into your lap and you hold her.
After a few minutes, she wants to get up and asks for a snack. Once you have her settled on the couch with a snack and Little Bear, you walk to your room and close the door.
Taking your phone out of your pocket, you call Jake. Suprisingly, it only takes two rings for him to answer.
"Hi baby." He says.
"Hey." You say with a heavy sigh.
"Hey, what's going on? What's wrong?" He asks, worry in his voice.
"She misses you. She asks to see you constantly. We just sat in the kitchen floor cuddling because she was upset that we couldn't FaceTime you. Jake, I don't know how to keep doing this. I know this is your work and you can't help it, but something needs to change. Your family misses you and needs you." You say, trying to swallow the lump in your throat.
The other end is silent. You almost think the line dropped before you hear Jake's voice.
"I miss you guys too. Maybe I can get management to rearrange some things and I can come home for a couple days in a few weeks." He says.
Trying to not to show disappointment, you say, "Okay. That would be nice. Anyway, I know you're busy. I'll let you go." The two of you say your goodbyes and hang up.
The rest of the day goes by and it's bed time. You and your little one go through your nightly routine and you get her settled into bed. You grab her tablet and say, "Okay my love, let's call Dada."
You call Jake, but he doesn't answer.
"I'm sorry baby, it looks like Dada couldn't make it tonight. Maybe in the morning." You say, rubbing her head.
Suddenly you hear the front door unlock, open and shut. Confused you get up telling your daughter to stay there. Grabbing your phone and having 911 ready, you go to the door to see what's going on.
As you peak your head out into the hall, you see him.
"Jake! Oh my god! What are you doing here?!" You exclaim running and throwing your arms around him.
"Dada! Dada!" You hear your little girl yell as she barrels down the hall.
Jake kneels down and catches her as she leaps into his arms.
"Hey there bugaboo. I heard you missed me so much that I had to come see you." He says giving her lots of kisses.
You all enjoy being together for a while after until your daughter starts to drift to sleep. Jake carries her to her room. You let him tuck her in by himself, letting them have this time together.
After a few minutes pass, you go to check on them. As you tiptoe close to the door you hear...
"No matter how long I'm gone, I will always come back to you."
It's In The Blood Chapter 1
Miraculous Ladybug | 2018 | 1,288 | Ao3 | Masterlist | Next
Emilie and Hugo Agreste do not regret what they just did. They're probably in a mountain of trouble, but Chat Noir hadn't come back and Ladybug was losing. A normal civilian would just watch. They're not normal civilians. Their mom keeps fifteen Miraculous in her bedroom. She's also Ladybug. And their dad is Chat Noir. They do not regret helping out.
Emilie and Hugo Agreste crashed through Emilie’s window as their transformations timed out, leaving two kwami and two teenagers on the bedroom floor.
“Mom, is so , going to ground us for a month,” Hugo panted, staring at the ceiling from his new spot on the floor.
“She doesn’t have to know,” Emilie offered, moving over to collapse on her bed.
“Emi?”
“Yes?”
“How else, why else and who else would get into Mom and Dad’s bedroom, open the decorative chinese themed record player from like, a hundred and fifty years ago, and then take two Miraculous to go be superheroes and help them fight an akuma?”
Emilie pulled one of her pillows over her head and groaned. Her brother was right, darn it.
“Possible future punishments aside, you two were pretty good for first time superheroes, especially with how little time we had to explain our powers to you,” Emilie looked over at the tiger and fox themed Kwami, unsure of which had spoken.
“Thanks Trixx!” Hugo answered from the floor. If he thought it was Trixx, hopefully it was Trixx. Neither Kwami corrected him though.
“Thanks,” Emilie echoed, moving her pillow and lifting her left hand to stare at the purple harness bracelet that had just turned her into a hero.
“Do you think Mom will let us keep these?” Emilie rolled over to the edge of her bed to look at Hugo. “I mean, I want to spend more time with Czaar and Trixx, and we didn’t do anything overly stupid today, right?”
Hugo turned his head to look at her and pursed his lips. “Maybe? She’s always said she doesn’t want us trying to be superheroes, but, we weren’t that bad today, right?”
“You really weren’t,” Czaar confirmed with a nod.
A knock interrupted the four’s conversation.
“Emilie! Hugo! Get out here, now!”
“And we’re busted. Wish us luck!” Emilie rolled the rest of the way off her bed and moved over to the door. “Coming mom!”
Hugo pulled himself up and followed her, his smile gone now.
Trixx shot Czaar a look which the magenta Kwami returned, and they both shot to their respective user’s shoulders. Caliph and Kitso had been useful today, even if they weren’t supposed to be out using Miraculous.
Marinette and Adrien Agreste were waiting in the living room, their own Kwamis with them.
“Hi Mom. Hi Dad!”
“Emilie Gina Agreste I swear I have said-”
“Bugaboo, let them talk first,” Adrien suggested, cutting off his wife’s triade.
She shot him a look and turned back to her daughter and son, crossing her arms. “Alright, explain.”
“You can’t be that mad at us.” Emilie started, fiddling with her bracelet. “We tried to wait, we really did! But then Dad got knocked off the tower, and he wasn’t coming back up, and we- We got worried Mom! I panicked! I know where the Miraculous are kept from last time Aunt Alya and Uncle Nino needed theirs, so I just went and opened it. I grabbed one, Czaar gave me a quick speil and I transformed! It was my idea, Hugo just refused to let me go alone. He grabbed a Miraculous and followed me out. If someone’s getting in trouble it needs to be me! He was just watching my back like you’ve taught us!”
“Okay that’s no fair Emi! It was just as much my choice as yours! They’re my parents too, and you’re my sister! Of course I followed you out!” Hugo turned back to their parents, “I could have stopped her, and I could have stayed. But no one in this room can deny that you needed help out there, and Emilie and I kept each other safe. We know we broke rules, but all of our parental figures are honorary superheroes, and you two, our full-time parents, are also full-time superheroes.”
“We stayed safe while we were out too!”
“None of that was safe Emilie,” Marinette cut in unhappily. “Akuma are never safe, and fighting them is worse.”
“And yet you two do almost every day!” Emilie shot back.
“That aside-” Adrien waved his hands to get attention and pointed at the couch. Emilie and Hugo followed, sitting down but not relaxing. “-It’s still not safe, we just have more experience.” Adrien sat down in one of the chairs and pulled Marinette with him.
“Can I lecture them now?” Marinette asked, her arms still crossed.
“Emilie, Hugo?”
“We have to sit through the lecture either way, might as well get through it now.”
“Hugo’s right,” Emilie scowled.
And so Marinette set off, telling her kids over and over in as many different wordings as she could think of that they had been really stupid, that it was a super unsafe thing to do, how she could’ve had a heart attack when they just popped up, and anything else on her mind, pacing the entire time.
“And lastly! As much as I hate that you two were out there, you did do well and Congratulations are in order. Your father and I crashed into things no less than four times in our first hour and he fumbled his special attack.”
“Plagg doesn’t explain things!” Adrien defended, before turning back to his children. “And now that that’s dealt with, the big question comes up.”
“What big question?” Emilie asked slowly, turning to look at Czaar, Trixx and Hugo.
“I hate you for suggesting this Adrien, and I hate me for actually agreeing.” Marinette plopped back down beside Adrien and pulled at her earring nervously.
“With the Lahiffes in Canada, we are a little low on teammates. So, your mother and I talked about it after you two rushed off, and, assuming you agree to some conditions, we’ll let you keep a Miraculous each.”
“What?” Hugo and Emilie shrieked in tandem.
“What’re the conditions?” Emilie asked, excitement written all over her face.
“One;” Marinette started dramatically, “If the Akuma is attacking during school, you do not leave. Unless you’re being evacuated, in which case run away from, -not towards- the fight. You are not to skip on anything to help unless we call or text you saying it’s crucial. Being a superhero taxed our friendships due to having to duck out all the time, and you two shouldn’t have to deal with that.
“Two; There will be no racing across the rooftops without leaving a note or telling us first.
”Three; We do want you guys to watch each other’s backs, but please do not do anything stupid. No self sacrificing or anything crazy. If you pull a stunt like what your Father loves to do, I will confiscate your Miraculous.
“Four; Miraculi are not show off items or toys. Do not transform unless absolutely necessary, do not transform if someone could catch you, and do not tell anyone you are in possession of a  Miraculous.
“Five; Your Kwami will be your responsibility. They are to be kept secret, and we’ll help come up with ways to keep them near you inconspicuously if needed.”
“Honey I think that’s everything,” Adrien interrupted before Marinette could keep going.
“Excuse me if I’m not happy we’re just allowing our kids to enter the super dangerous world of superheroing!”
Emilie and Hugo stared. They got to keep them. They got to keep them! Heck yes!
“You won’t regret letting them, and Czaar and I can keep an eye on ours as needed,” Trixx assured her. “Assuming the agree that is.”
“Assuming we agree? Hello? Of course we agree! Thank you thank you thank you!” Czaar moved as Emilie leapt out of her seat and tackled her parents in a hug. Some habits came in your DNA. So did Miraculous compatibility.
“Agreed,” Hugo added.
Tumblr media
The first time I ever laid eyes on you, I knew you were mine. I knew it with such surety what I was in tears within 15 minutes because nobody but I knew it. At least...until I met you.
Tumblr media
There was never a doubt in my mind, even as all your siblings climbed over me, nipped and licked until they lost interest after a few minutes only to wander away. Yet you remained. Sitting a foot away from me, head cocked to the side, floppy ears perked, as if to ask, "what now?"
Tumblr media
It killed my heart and soul to leave without you that day but I promised I would return for you in a week once I returned from my trip. Oh how you fit so perfectly in my arms as we walked through PetSmart, my sweet bugaboo. Apart from those ten minutes I couldn't bear having you in the kennel that night, there wasn't a single minute we weren't together.
Tumblr media
Before I knew it, you were a year old and with it, came two agonizingly long years of cluster grand mal seizures -- something the vet insisted wasn't possible and I didn't know what I was talking about until you finally seized in his office -- that continued to get progressively worse and worse. Like clock work. Every 40 days. The first one always started between 1 and 2 am with the second 30 minutes later and the third fifteen minutes later. Every 40 days, you added one or two more to the list. 2 hours of hell became 4, then 8, then 24, 36, and 48. Yet we never stopped fighting. Every time, you came back to me. You always came back to me, my good boy.
Tumblr media
Then, at the end of 2011, we finally had hope. For the first time in over 2 years, you made it 41 days without seizing. Then 60. Then 90. And in those days, you knew before everyone else did. You knew what awaited me in 2012. You were 6 months seizure free and I was 6 months pregnant when you relapsed and had the worst cluster grand mal seizures we had ever seen. 40 seizures in 3 days. Oh how I hoped and prayed this was the end. I nearly cancelled my plans to stay with you but was encouraged and reassured that you would be fine while I was gone.
Tumblr media
When I came home that night, my heart broke. You had the worst episode yet and I wasn't there for you. We found a 24 hour vet and I asked, begged and pleaded for them to help you. What she said shattered our entire world and I had to make the hardest decision I've ever had to make in my life. I sobbed as I said my farewells to you, to my hopes and dreams for you and my son, then I stayed with you until you breathed your last breath. In that moment, my own heart stopped with yours. Though it felt like forever, only seconds had passed before I took my first breath without you and immediately regretted it. I folded myself over you, hugged you tightly and sobbed, wishing it had been me instead of you.
Tumblr media
I only allowed myself 24 hours to grieve for you. I vaguely remember going home, crying myself to sleep and waking up a number of hours later, my hand searching for you beside me on my bed only to find you gone. That's when reality came crashing back and I lost you again. Every day, for the next month, I'd come home, your name on my lips and tears in my eyes. Over time, it became easier to bear. My little light bringer saw to that. But every now and again, I think about you. Like tonight.
I miss you Jethro. What I wouldn't give to be with you right now. You who always snuggled and cuddled with me whenever I was feeling blue. My best-est boy who was as gentle as could be and forever protective of his mama. My hundred pound meat missile who would never run unless it was to me and I called for you. I could never say no to you. Not with your big brown eyes. My goldfish and popcorn was yours. As was a bit of my steak -- after your drooled a good long while for me of course. Never a peep from you unless it was to go for a walk or a car ride. Even now, nearly 12 years later, I look for a flicker of you in other dogs but none of them are you. I miss you so god damned much but more than that, I need you right now my good boy.
What can we learn from Tim Gurner’s foot in the mouth moment?
Yes, post his infamous statement that workers need to feel pain and know they work for the employer, Mr. Gurner has made some contrite statements, but let’s be honest he meant it.
I looked up his business and apparently it is in high end real estate. This can be an industry with serious ups and downs so maybe he is feeling a pinch. I did not look up the company’s financials.
I did decide to look at this here in the United States because are workers better off nowadays, are billionaires better off nowadays or what gives. I am not making any comparisons, but am going to lay out one of the bigger problems facing the middle class and why Tim Gurner’s comments are even worse than you think.
I am going to use one company’s financial information to spell out a very simplistic example of how things could be a bit better for the average Joe if we quit buying into the large corporation’s hyperbole about their needs. Now with any major endeavor details are important. This is a 30,000 foot view of the problem using one company, but I honestly feel it shows that workers aren’t the financial problem executives want you to think. I am not going to identify the company, but based on the information I gleaned from internet searches, articles and financials published you might be able to guess. One hint I am giving you for fun is this is one of the liberal tax the billionaires bugaboos.
And I do believe in capitalism, but what we have nowadays isn’t necessarily constructive or productive capitalism. With the wealth gap expanding we are moving away from a society that offers opportunity to many, a strong middle class and is encouraging an elitist class that is doing more harm than good by hoarding wealth. That is another post and one I touched on recently, yet there is much more to this.
For now though, let’s look at this overview example of one company.
First the median household income in the United States is $98,487 according to Nasdaq.com. Now it did not say if this was for a family of four or the family size, but it did compare it to the poverty level of a family of four being $29,960.00. And $98,000 may not sound too bad if this is where half the people make more and half the people make less, yet make note it does say median household income or another words there are many families with multiple earners to achieve this $98,000 figure which is borne out by the fact that the average yearly income of a single earner is $56,940.00 ($1,095/week) as per the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The company I am using is for my example has a net worth of 433 billion dollars so this isn’t the average size company, but is one of the leaders in increasing the wealth gap. It derives income from various endeavors. One endeavor has 4700 locations where you can find employees that are paid at hourly rates. It was difficult finding a headcount for employees for each location. I found one statistic from 2015 for an average of 6.5. I have to think that has changed since then and so I am just about doubling that number to use in my example.
I did find that there are around four job descriptions that had hourly rates and the average nationally was a bit over $18, yet I am going to use $20 for my calculations. So, as you can see I am expanding the headcount and increasing the beginning number so you can see that these numbers will be generous to the company’s viewpoint when expenses are calculated.
At this point we have 4,700 locations times 12 staff members and not all maybe hourly, but am using this headcount since any salary employees are entry level salary so they are just as impacted as the hourly wage earners in some regards.
So 4,700 times 12 = 56,400 potential hourly workers in a front line role. And with each person making $20 hour that equates to $1,128,000 just to pay all these people for one hour. And on top of that there are other expenses in having employees such as payroll employees, human resources employees, benefits, employer social security tax costs, so to get to this one million plus you have to realize this expense example is not the full picture, yet if these individuals were given a direct raise the social security taxes and the benefits would probably be what is directly impacted along with the actual raise. Payroll and human resource costs aren’t directly affected by hourly raises except all these employees may want a raise too.
Where does this lead? You have $1,128,000 hourly rate times 40 hours = $45,120,000.00 now times 52  weeks = $2,346,240,000. Yes, you are reading that correctly. For this company to have 4700 locations the direct labor cost is over 2 billion dollars and that is for $20 per hour. So how can we help these $20 workers? That is quite a bit of money to pay the employees. I say give them at least a five dollar per hour raise. And not only that we are going to calculate the increase at $8 hour to account for the other expenses the raise creates.
Now plug into the equation above a $8 increase so 56,400 times 8 =$451,200.00 times 40 hours + $18,048,000.00 times 52 weeks = $938,496,000. That is almost another billion dollars. And let’s go back in and add the $3 cost I included for the raise to the original numbers and you have 56,400 times 3=4169,200.00 times 40 = $6,768,000.00 times 52 = $351,936,000.00.
So a rough labor estimate for our 4700 locations to give our workers a five dollar raise is $2,346,240,000 plus $938,496,000 plus $351,936,000 equals $3,636,672,000.00. How can any company afford to give their employees a raise? And this raise only brings the hourly workers to $25 times 40 times 52 equals $52,000 per year, yet isn’t that less than the average income? Yep it is.
What gives you might ask. That extra almost 1 billion dollars (the original labor amount was already calculated in the previous year’s budget) to bring their employees to almost the average income affects the company how? The company’s new worth is over 400 billion, last year’s net income was 37.49 billion so this incredibly expensive $5 hour raise cost the company 1/37th of their net income.
This is just one company and a very large public one at that, but when you hear someone say employees need to feel the pain, it is time to start asking when do they feel the relief?
A pretax income of $52,000 divided by 12 = $4,333.33 with average rent of $1702, average food cost $470, transportation costs range from $400 to a $1,000 a month, and remember the 4,333 is before taxes and probably healthcare insurance is deducted from their paycheck so exactly how are workers making ends meet, yet the CEO for this company enjoyed over $34 million in compensation last year and is worth 1.7 billion.
Yes, Mr. Gurner some people need to feel some pain, but workers? They have felt theirs for decades.
We'll also provide reviews of some of the most popular models on the market. So whether you're looking for a lightweight stroller that's easy to fold or a sturdy model that can handle any terrain, we've got you covered! Comparison of best lightweight strollers for toddlers Best compact umbrella strollers Ultra-Compact Stroller Guide https://youtu.be/HBFoOVI8zsU Ultra-Compact Stroller Guide 2022 The first thing that you need to know about today's comparison is how much time your baby will be able to take in each stroller. We'll also touch on some important pros and cons of the different types so make sure not to miss out. We're going to take a look at 20 different strollers and discuss their advantages, disadvantages & potential problems.  Which stroller models will best suit your needs and preferences? Do you plan on traveling with the baby, keeping them inside of an urban environment for hours at a time, or do they need something more durable that can stand up against outdoor conditions while trekking through nature trails? The strollers we will be discussing in this article can take on a wide range of features and functions, so it's important for you to do your research before making any decisions. In our comparison, we will discuss which strollers are worth getting at all and which one should be avoided like the plague. In this article, we'll be discussing the different types of strollers available in today's market. We've broken them down into three broad categories:  - those that are not worth buying and may have specific needs;  - models with price tags suited for your budget level but don't offer anything truly special in terms of durability or performance qualities about their design - so if you're looking specifically at these things then maybe some other product might suit better; - finally, there is an ultra-pack model which has been able to withstand testing by our team through all sorts of conditions. The best compact stroller for travel gb Pockit+ All-Terrain, Ultra Compact Lightweight Travel Stroller with Canopy and Reclining Seat FAQ The stroller is not the best choice for jogging. The wheels are too small and only work well on flat or smooth surfaces; it also has a folding capability which makes running with this device more difficult when you're trying to maintain speed because there's no solid base under your feet. You can't expect to take a nap in the stroller while your baby’s on board. The stroller doesn't have a recline, but it functions like an umbrella. So your kid can only sit in one position and he'll be fine. The sunshade of this stroller is not removable, but it can be bent in many different ways to fit into your backpack. Silver Cross Jet 3 Full Size TSA Approved Infant & Toddler Stroller This sleek-looking stroller has all the bells and whistles you could want in terms of features, but when it comes down to performance versus price. The durability isn't there. The truth is that this model just doesn’t live up to its pretty pictures or promises on paper-even though many parents tend not to get frustrated with their purchase once they start using them. Bugaboo Ant Baby Stroller The Ant Stroller is a one-of-a-kind product that allows you to fold up your strolling experience. Unfortunately, this genius design includes an underpowered and uncomfortable seat for children. The folding process for this stroller was complicated and time-consuming. We also had some issues with loose handles which made it difficult to unfold or reverse seats in the event you need those features during your outing. The Ant's time is up. The release of the new Butterfly stroller has made it very likely that this model will be replaced by a far more promising one, which we'll have an opportunity to review as soon as possible. We all know that Bugaboo is a popular brand for strollers and baby gear. If you're looking to get an ultra-compact from them, my advice would be to wait just one bit longer before making your purchase decision. CYBEX Eezy S + 2 Stroller The design of this model is not well-suited for travelers due to its loose wheels and bulky dimensions, which make it difficult or impossible that you can use them as cabin luggage. The Twist Stroller is a great product, but it has some serious limitations that you should know about before purchasing. The frame and mechanism are both too delicate for their size which makes this stroller difficult to use when out on the road with other moms in your neighborhood who also have children at home. Not only does this make it difficult when folding or using certain features but also leaves you vulnerable by creating symmetry issues in between uses. The Twist is a medium-quality stroller for the price, but it's not as cheap or basic when compared with other models that are only slightly larger and much more solidly built such as the Cybex Mios, the Joolz Hubs, or the Bugaboo Bee. The difference between the older model and its newer counterpart is not significant. The larger wheels on these strollers try to do too much with only slightly improved handling, making them fragile in comparison. Cybex or Good Baby International has a habit of using different chassis designs for their various models. The options for parents who want to go on walks but don't need their child's seat are endless! And while we're looking at the Twist model, there is also worth taking a moment to talk about three additional strollers - all built essentially the same as each other without any reversible seats:  - The regular Eezy 2 - The Eezy+ 2 is a model of the stroller that has larger wheels, making it easier to ride; - The Gb Qbit+ All City stroller is a similar model to the Twist one despite being sold through GB's brand. The largest difference between Twist and other strollers is that it has an added mechanical complexity, while these models are all sturdier because they don't have any of those complicated mechanisms. They're also larger with seats that can accommodate a bigger child; however, the rest still remains quite weak due to thin bars instead of strong connection points as well loose wheels on a mostly brittle frame. Unfortunately, the two Eezys models are too expensive. The Qbit+ All City strollers might be worth it if you're on tighter budget constraints or just want something more durable. I have to say, I'm not a big fan of listed above ultra compact strollers. There are so many out there and they all seem pretty similar. But if you live in one place where it's hard to find options for baby gear like this then at least go with Qbit+ - it might be worth your while. Though I do hope you continue to explore and maybe we can find an alternative that will be perfect for your needs. CYBEX Libelle Stroller So which one should you get?  The Libelle stroller is a great choice for those who need something more specific than your average jogging or shopping model. For example, if you're going on vacation and plan to take plenty of walks throughout the day but don't want any weight bulkiness then this might be perfect. If you’re in the market for a stroller and don't want to spend too much money, then these are probably not going to be strong enough. Doona Infant Car Seat & Latch Base I was looking at the Doona+, and I have to say that it's not very practical as a stroller. My chief complaints about this model are its failure on functioning well for an everyday task like walking around with children. The biggest drawback to this stroller is that it doesn't have any suspension or storage, which means you can’t bring your baby along for longer trips. The seat also cannot be reclined enough that they will stay safe while traveling on their own time schedule.  It can be quite hard to get the car seat out of your vehicle if you have an infant with it versus just using a regular oldish-style infant car seat. The cost of this stroller is pretty hefty and you'll only get six to eight months' worth of use out of it.  The truth is that you'll be forced to invest in another stroller after that period of time. Doona Infant Car Seat & Latch Base Moreover, I find it hard to sell this specific model. The market just doesn't have that much trust in them due to all of these added safety concerns, which makes sense because they're meant for driving after all. While I would still recommend not purchasing this stroller before you've seen it in person, there are many people who say that they love their experience with one so far. I know it's hard to believe, but there are some people who might find this stroller useful and you might find it too. The three remaining strollers in the Maybe Section are models that may not be bad, but they're also not necessarily worth buying. However, if you can get a great price and make up for it by being less expensive than these other options then perhaps take into consideration what's available on your list. If you're looking for a stroller that will work best in your area and is more budget-friendly than some of the others on this list, consider Maclaren's Atom. Though it lacks some features found on higher-end models and I found it a bit weaker compared to other top-of-the-line products. This stroller is a great choice for taking on your next family vacation or to use when you need quick access from home. It can hold up against wear and tear well, making it unsuitable as an everyday item rather than just something that gets used occasionally. It comes with a rain cover and adjustable leg rests so you can take it anywhere. The newborn cocoon will keep your baby comfortable when they are just starting their life on wheels - and because this thing folds up so compactly, we're calling it hand luggage acceptable too. Mountain Buggy Nano V3 Stroller The stroller is perfect for when you need something that can stand up to some rough treatment. It has a larger seat, more recline options, and a shoulder strap, and feels more sturdy. The frame is pretty lightweight, and I expected it to be a sturdier feeling and size-wise. This stroller is really competing with the Metro+ and Minu that we'll be covering in a little bit, but at the same time, it's been on market for quite some time now. I've shown this one to hold up decently priced considering its competition. I found this to be true when I talked with patrons and it made sense, considering how different parts of the world compared. Mountain Buggy strollers tend not only to be easier (or cheaper) accessible in some countries than others; they also provide a higher standard for durability. And if this is the type of person you are, then rest assured that you're making the right choice when it comes to your stroller's durability.  Babyzen YoYo² Bundle Black w Black While the YoYo² stroller has been around for quite some time, it still manages to command respect in this day and age. It's pricey without any of those features that parents really want (a rain cover or adjustable leg rests). The current model does look like an obvious improvement over its predecessor. The stroller model has been proven to be long-lasting and simple. It's a great choice for those who want an all-purpose wheeled device that can go as far up close in size as its ultra-compact counterparts but still folds down quickly into manageable proportions when not being used. Although I still feel that a used first-generation YoYo² stroller or better yet, Yoyo+ will generally be the superior and safer choice in most ways. Joolz AER Premium Baby Stroller The sturdy bars and connection points make it strong enough for even the roughest terrain while its front wheels have a similar design to YoYo² which makes this baby proud. I feel like it's about time that they're updated with adjustable leg rests so parents can fully enjoy their time outside of the house without feeling uncomfortable. The Joolz AER stroller has an excellent design that is both sophisticated and functional. I do have some concerns with the zipper adjustment interface, but it's nothing compared to how well-built this product truly feels. The stroller is quite as sturdy, as YoYo² and it still overperforms most of the rest in its class. The stroller is a high-end model that will last you through all of your adventures with ease. It has been built by manufacturers who care about their product and know how important it is to have one durable enough for even the roughest travels, which makes this an excellent choice no matter what kind or style preference someone might want. The stroller comes with a rain cover and travel bag included in the price. It's easy to fold up, so you can take it on any trip. The lightweight frame will fit within IATA cabin luggage guidelines as well. The stroller is a great investment for any family who plans on taking their kids out of school during the week. It's durable, easy to use, and fits right under most seats so you can leave it at home when going somewhere.  Baby Jogger City Tour 2 Ultra-Compact Travel Stroller The Baby Jogger City Tour 2 is a great choice for flying with your baby because it's one of those ultra-compact models that pass the IATA guidelines. The wheels can be easily removed and put back on, making sure you don't exceed cabin baggage limits. The stroller has a great seat for the price with both adjustable leg rests and recline. It's built heavily, giving you peace of mind when pushing your baby around town. Strollers have a lot of good features but also some drawbacks. The chief weaknesses of this type are the arts wire-based brake system and a bit loose front wheels which make them less accessible than other models on uneven ground (although not as bad). Another weakness is that they don't have an accessible shopping basket. For those looking for a high-quality stroller that offers all of the benefits and features as well as being durable, I don't believe there is another model on today's market which can compete with this particular product. This reason makes me think it was made more than enough time ago because not only does it meet my needs but also leaves room inside its price range. Ergobaby Metro+ Compact Baby Stroller However, there are some drawbacks. For example, the fold can be stiff and difficult to do with one hand as well as having a low position canopy that doesn't provide much sun coverage when in use by babies or toddlers who may want more than just shade. The model is the perfect choice for parents who need to use an ultra-compact as their primary stroller, but also live in relatively smooth urban conditions. The Metro+ is nearly half the price of the YoYo 2 with a rain cover and adjustable leg rests included. With its strong durability, we'll outlast the most similarly priced models on the wider market. Uppababy MINU Stroller Moreover, Uppababy's dedication to using more metal than most of its competitors in order to build strong, well-fitted hinges and locking components has led them towards a rigid feel. The addition of larger-than-average rear wheels, tight front forts, and excellent suspension make this bike one that's perfect to ride on rough terrains. The stroller is a rather bulky and heavy product, making it incompatible with most ultra-light backpacks that won't fly as cabin luggage. It also can be uncomfortable to carry for long periods because you have a strap on only one side. The MINU V2 has been designed to be the most ultra-compact office chair available, with all of its features being vastly improved over what was found in earlier versions. It's more comfortable and durable than ever before. If you're going to be out and about all day, then I recommend the daily use model. The stroller is perfect for navigating through broken sidewalks and gravel. It has an ability that can tackle somewhat rougher urban environments without reducing its longevity significantly, which makes it ideal in these situations where you need something tough but not too heavy weight-wise like many other models on the market today do due to their materials composition or design features.
