I think the frustrating thing about Spotify recommendations is sometimes it really does introduce me to lots of cool Indie Bands that I really vibe with and allow me to try some new stuff and sometimes it keeps telling me that I need to Listen to Mother Mother (I have not listened to Mother Mother ever and at this point I never will because it is a pride thing.)
Or a random unfunny tiktok joke song from 3 years ago/ a viral YouTube song from over a decade ago.
this is a bit negative so I'm going to throw it under a read more, but idk what to do so... writing woes be upon me
royai big bang deadline for anthology pieces is end of april and I'm just... not sure what to do with my piece. It's at 14k words and still feels like it needs SO much more. I'm not sure if I should brute force it, or try to refocus the scope, or just... know when a lost cause is a lost cause lmao
I have an interview for a job on Tuesday and it has been taking up a significant portion of my brain power this past week. That'd leave me about a week of Pure, Unfettered ADHD Panic Mode Focus IF I can get my brain to cooperate with me.
I oscillate wildly back and forth between "this is unsalvageable and I should just admit defeat early" and "I HAVE to do this I NEED to do this". I am currently in a "I can do this if I try" phase but I'm sure that my opinion will change in a few hours, and then it will change again in the morning. I know, logically, no one is going to get mad if I don't make the deadline, but I really, really wanted to prove to myself that I could do this so it makes sense to at least TRY to make it work.
I guess I'm wondering, if you've been in a similar situation before, what did you do? How do you reframe something when it's already got so much stuff in it? Not in a sunk cost fallacy kind of way, more like a sheer This Is Big And I Have No Time. Any sort of technical advice would be appreciated
You all can blame @might-be-a-potato for this one. We were talking about Bumper and then she was like… so the Teku have a cat right??? They thought of the name and everything!! Now I have brain rot beyond repair. Please enjoy the byproduct of us going feral about this last night lol!

Smudge
It was Kurts turn to pick up dinner. He’d been dodging the responsibility for the past week and a half due to a cold front blowing through the city. It was freezing out, and he hated having to bundle up just to stay warm. Unfortunately, if he pawned the chore off on someone else again, Karma might get involved. Which is something no one wanted to see happen.
Nolo had been talking about having some sort of soup all week, so instead of stopping by their usual burger joint, Kurt opted to visit the grocery store instead. It was the least he could do after making Nolo pick up his slack when it came to keeping the gang fed. Plus, if he made enough, they would have leftovers for the next few days and not have to worry about risking their cars on the ice. It was a win win.
Kurt was just about to start tossing the grocery bags into his passenger seat when he heard a strange noise come from under the car. He paused for a minute, listening for the sound to repeat, but when it didn’t, he continued to haphazardly toss the bags into the seat. Of course, as soon as he started moving though, he heard the sound again.
“What the…” Quickly, the driver ditched the rest of the bags onto the floor boards, and closed the door to keep whatever heat was left in the car trapped inside. After he heard the noise a third time, he groaned and crouched down next to his car to try and find the source.
He looked around for a good minute or two before his hands and feet began to go numb from the windchill. He was about to give up the search until he heard the noise one last time coming from up near his hood.
There, shaking like a leaf, was a kitten that couldn’t have been larger than his hand. It was covered in soot and grime- probably from trying to keep warm near his engine block- and it looked like it hadn’t had a decent meal in days.
With a grimace, Kurt got onto his hands and knees to fish the poor thing out from under his car. It was wet with snow, and it had to have been freezing. Especially, being as small as it was.
“Talk about an underdog.” Kurt mumbled to himself as he crawled into his car and cranked up the heat. He shed his scarf and used it to dry the poor thing off as best he could but it was soaked to the bone and still shivering awfully hard. After a few minutes of trying to warm the kitten back up, he decided that the best course of action was just stuff the thing into his jacket and hope that would keep it warm enough for them to make it back to garage.
Kurt would be lying if he said he wasn’t worried about the thing crawling around while he was trying to drive but luckily it seemed that the cat was just happy to be somewhere warm again, so it didn’t around move much. Every once in a while, it would pop its head out to meow out some commentary, but that was about it did.
The garage wasn’t far, so the drive wasn’t long, and of course as soon as he pulled in and shut the door behind him, his car was swarmed with people trying to help out with the groceries.
“What took you so long? We thought you might have crashed.” Karma stated, opening his car door and pulling out a few bags.
Vert was right behind her, grabbing the remainder or the groceries and walking them over to the kitchenette.
“Yeah, dude. We were starting to get worried. Last time I saw you on ice, you had a pretty hard wipeout,” Vert loved to poke fun at him for what happened on Highway 35. It was better than the alternative he supposed.
Despite his friends concern, Kurt momentarily brushed them off in favor of finding somewhere warm to get the cat currently clinging to the inside of his jacket. On a whim, he rushed over to their makeshift laundry area and put his hand on top of the dryer. It felt like it was in the middle of a cycle, but he couldn’t tell.
“Have these been in here long?” He asked, pulling the door open.
“Yeah, they should almost be done, why?” Vert answered from the kitchen, starting to unpack the bags and lay everything out on the counter.
That was when Shirako and Nolo walked in.
“Look what the cat dragged in,” Nolo snarked upon seeing a cold and wet Kurt Wylde raiding their dryer for something warm to wear.
“You’ve go no idea,” Kurt responded before finally tugging the shivering kitten out from the inside of his jacket. Using the random amalgamation of team jackets, towels, and spare blankets, Kurt made a little nest for the thing to sleep in while it warmed up by the space heater they had going.
Within seconds the whole team was gathered around the heater keeping a close eye on the kitten.
“Where’d you find a cat?” Karma finally questioned, fixing Kurt with a look.
“Under my car. I think it was trying to keep warm. Looks like it wasn’t doing a good job though. Thing was practically frozen when I found it.” He explained, wandering over to the kitchen sink to start running some warm water to clean the kitten up. Being covered in all that grime couldn’t be good for it.
“We gonna keep it?” Nolo asked from his place next to the cat. He was starting to pet the top of the blanket pile to let it know that they were still there.
“Well, we can’t just kick it back out into the cold.” Kurt answered, testing the water before putting the stopper in the drain so that the sink would start to fill. It wasn’t hot, but it was still decently warm. He didn’t want to take the chance of burning the kitten or putting it into shock.
When the sink hand enough water in it to at least fill the bottom of the basin, Kurt came back over to the heater and plucked the cat from its makeshift nest. It whined in protest, but didn’t bite or scratch, so Kurt placed it in the water.
All things considered, it took the bath like a champ. Especially with how hard Kurt had to scrub to get some of the grease out of its fur. He made sure to be careful, but some of the stains just weren’t coming out.
“Damn. These won’t come out.” Kurt remarked with a frown, wiping the kittens face dry with a washcloth. “He looks like he’s got grease smudges everywhere.”
Shirako laughed from behind him, peaking over his shoulder at the cat.
“That’s what we should call him. Smudge.” Shirako suggested, as Vert came to join them by the sink.
“Aw, man. That’s adorable!” Vert agreed, clutching at his chest comically.
After a few warm nights spent in lots of Teku beds, Smudge was able to make a full recovery. It wasn’t long until the cat broke out of its shell and started getting into lots of mischief around the garage, but at the end of the day, the Teku don’t mind.
Besides, Smudge becomes a rather fitting mascot. Particularly when the Metal Maniacs start bringing their brutish dog to races. He makes a solid edition to their little family.

do you know where "no beta we die like x" comes from and how it is used?
The term "beta" in this context is short for "beta reader" - a person who reads a fic while it's still in the editing stage and helps the writer get it ready to post. Some betas check grammar. Some check canon compliance. Some are sensitivity readers. There are lots of things that betas can do.
So functionally, saying "no beta" means that the writer didn't get this checked by a second person before they posted it. It's a warning that there might be errors or typos etc. It's mostly used when an author has written something quickly and is posting without doing a lot of (or any) edits first.
As for where it comes from? It all started with a bumper sticker.
This image was an internet meme at one point, and it got meme'd on in the form of "no ___ we ___ like men"
Here on tumblr, one of the versions that got really popular was from now-deleted user @grec1a who created this version:
From there, it migrated to AO3 as the "no beta we die like men" tag, and very often the word men is replaced by the name of a character who dies in canon.
Each Chapter will have a short "bumper" (or lead-in) that will document small shifts to the timeline caused by F!Leo. I will go further into this later, because "Spoilers".
A side note I will delete later: I'm trying to work out a regular posting schedule. I pre-release pages on Patreon, because my patrons are saints and they're the reason I'm able to dedicate time to work on this passion project. I plan on releasing pages a week in advance on Patreon and then release them publicly here (and unlock them there).
POV you're a betta fish in an already shitty tank and some annoying asshole is trying to get your attention
Short little cute little Scout animation WIP I am working on....... Perchance I am enjoying animating, mayhaps... I had to do a whole project for my class and make an animation (I'm a studio art major, so liek I am just somewhat tech skilled and can use photoshop jussstttt well enough but I know little to nothing, the most animation experience I have was me at 14 making frames one by one in CSP and throwing them into EZgif one at a time LOL) and it was liek super frustrating at first but after seeing the final result I was actually like "you know what.... perchance this is cool..." So hes gonna have a little talking textbox visual novel moment. I also wanted to animate because I watched Quazzies Lil' Pootis FINALLY and it has my whole heart mannnn
OH also I LITERALLY accidentally deleted the fucking file for the Scount one because of COURSE I did, BUT I saved all the initial frames so not all is lost!!! Sobbing tho, my lief is soooooo hard...
I am still working on that comic from forever ago, and I actually plan to make it into a screen print given I have enough time and bookbind it into a physical comic LOL.
If anyone is curious... This is the animation I was working on for my class. The actual lineart wasn't an issue, it's just that my dumbass didn't clean the keys enough and like it worked as a sketch but not as an outline, and I was lazy and didn't want to redo them (but I did eventually w.e.) This is my character Joey Hottdog..... He hates his dad and he is a sigma loner emo in a normie world... I always wanted a cartoon of him and so I made a Cartoon network style TV bumper... I used Clip Studio Paint to make all the frames, and then Opentoonz (free animation software, it's zupah cool) to put it all together.
I hope that people enjoy my little rambles, tbh it's really fun to ramble I wish more people did it becoz I look at my mutuals (or just anyones) stuff and I liek love it all and I wanna hear people talk about their stuff or maybe I am cray-zee

It was a cold winter when Tango found out his life and everyone else’s around him would be ending soon. Any future goals, any postponed decision, everything became meaningless as the present became all they had left. Tango tasked himself with saving everyone.
The end is coming, there’s nothing you can do to stop it.
What is a webweave?

(ID: Kirby series fanart of Kirby, Adeleine, King Dedede, and Waddle Dee having a fun - and playfully competitive - game of Bumper Crop Bump. It is a slightly top-down view of a copse of trees, in which out heroes run about trying to catch various falling fruits. Kirby smiles wide as he leaps high into the air with his nearly full basket. down below, Adeline runs to our left to catch another fruit, while Dedede - to our right - mischievously elbows Waddle Dee aside, knocking the basket out of the poor little guy's hands. Remember when I said I was only gonna do simple drawings for this challenge? Haha… haaaah…
In all seriousness, I have a special fondness for the mini-games of K64. I played them over and over as a kid, simplistic as they were, and the game itself has always been a huge source of nostalgia and comfort for me. The theme that plays during BCB lives in my brain rent-free and is one of my favorites on the soundtrack (which is saying something considering I love the entire OST with my whole chest). I also lost my entire shit when they revealed a remade version of Checkerboard Chase in KRtDLDX (playing high-speed Intense Mode on that is so fun and chaotic, I love it.) Only seemed right to go all out on this little homage.
Little FC update:
I deleted and removed some clutter from the engine bay. Starting with the leaking and complicated swirl pot setup. Then I purchased the greddy compression tube along with new charge pipes. The old setup w/ stock throttle body tube made it so the charge pipe had to do a 180 and to be removed to service oil filter. That is no longer the case! And it looks a bit more sleek. I also got an oversized air filter to replace the teeny cone filter. This changed the turbo flutter noise. Next up I had redone alot of the chassis wiring, IT WAS A MESS before, been cleaning it up as I go. Fixed a few drive-ability issues along the way. Then finally the parts table.. I got some new coilovers to replace the mismatched set. It had 10k front springs and 10k rear springs on dampers with zero adjustment. Now sitting on 8k front, and 6k rear - 32 way adjustable. I got powered by MAX rear links for camber and toe adjustment. I plan to raise the car a little to fix geometry and get clearance for the 245 square setup. It had a few other minor things I got to address as well. I added stock sway bars back on, with adjustable end links to eliminate preload. Power steering lines leaking- replaced with new. Also got some new steering rack bellow boots. Upgraded to an FD Alternator, fixed tps wiring, and got a front lip for the S5 front bumper.
