Prompt 115
“Seriously old man?” the rumbling voice nearly caused Tim to jump, his eyes darting away from where Ras was sitting, the Al Ghul almost seeming to perk. It was kind of hard to miss the man… teen… being? It was kind of hard to miss the owner of the voice what with how their hair looked like it was on fire.
They motioned around at well, everything, crimson eyes looking exasperated. “Really?” They were definitely motioning towards him, interrupting Ras when he opened his mouth to talk. “No, I don’t want to hear it, I swear- Did he kidnap you?” That was definitely aimed at him.
“N-no?” Tim was feeling slightly unbalanced and may be on hour sixty without sleep at this point, if the hour long nap was counted. “I need help finding my not-dad who's lost in time.”
The being let out a strangled noise that Tim could nearly swear was almost another one, but couldn’t vocalize his slurred thoughts as the dude muttered something, motioning around as though he was tempted to strangle something or someone.
Ras cleared his throat, looking almost awkward which was how Tim knew he had to be dreaming or drugged. Probably drugged. “Jordan, how good to see you, it’s been so long-”
“Can it Pops,” the being-named-Jordan scoffed, finger pointing towards the Demon’s Head. “Moms still pissed and isn’t coming back any time soon with you still pulling this shit.”
Tim felt his brain stall, process for a moment, then process some more over what he just heard before his mouth ran before it could catch up. “Ras is married???”

forgive me if you've been asked this before or if its annoying, but how did you learn to use colored pencils like that? your art is so special to me.
ty :) I took an art class for a few years where our teacher had us buy prismacolor pencils as one of the art supplies and had us use them kinda like paints, pressing down hard right away and blending the colors together. its not how youre supposed to use them she was just trying to teach us to use color and ig this was more to the point. I picked them up again years after i stopped going to that class just bc they were there and i wanted to play around w them a bit and ended up actually enjoying it when doing it on my own terms lol

The parallel between Sokka and Tenzin as their fathers' sons.
Sokka, left at 13 as his father and all the other men head off to war. Hakoda tells him "being a man is knowing where he's needed the most" and he needs to protect his sister, his home.
Tenzin is the second airbender. He is also half water tribe, he's a man. When Aang dies, he will be the last airbender. He understands what he needs to do.
Untold amount of pressure and responsibility have been thrust upon them by their fathers. Though, I believe it is not all intentional, but the unfortunate circumstance of being the fathers of sons who take responsibility incredibly seriously.
In Sokka's case, "protect your sister" is a vague instruction. It was meant to give him purpose, to help him feel okay about being left behind, He is too young for war, his father does not want to bring his child to slaughter. But Sokka will die with purpose. He will train the children of his tribe so they will be protected, he will face a fire nation ship until his last breath. He cannot go to war, but Hakoda did not see that war was all around them. In trying to give Sokka purpose, Hakoda put their world on his shoulders.
We do not get to see Aang be a father (in the TV shows), but we know he had hopes for the future. All his children were air nomads, and the air acolytes brought his culture back, but Tenzin could bend. This part of their culture is one ONLY they share. I do not think Aang would hide this, he is joyous that he gets to share his culture. When he feels respected, he always is, he taught the air acolytes after all. Off handedly, he could say, "I'm hopeful for a future where there are lots more air benders," and that, which feels mostly innocuous to him, is the nail in the coffin of Tenzin's fate. He is Avatar Aang's son, and the future of the air benders. It would not matter that Aang meant a future in generations. Tenzin sees the responsibility and it's his. He is his father's only air bending child, he knows what he needs to do.
Being a parent is not understanding the way the things you say harm your children. Even those things that feel innocuous in the moment can be life altering. Especially the more the child respects the parent. Purpose and Hope for those with a broader perspective, can be death sentences to a life that could have been when expressed to those who idolize the former.

falling out of love is!! a terrible feeling!! where all the things that used to charm you about another person slowly turn to annoyances!! when the excitement over the little things that brought you joy is gone!! but it was there! you know it was there, but now it's not or it's slipping through your fingers, you can't get it back, you can't save it you can only watch it disappear.
and then you ask yourself where do you go from there? do you suffer in misery and wait and hope that maybe the other person will just stop loving you? hope that you'll be lucky and you won't have to be the one to bring the axe down on them??? that they'll do the dirty work for you! because even though you don't love them any more, you did at one point, and you still care about them and you don't want to hurt them!! or do you just tell them 'no i can't do this any more. i don't feel the same any more.' and take their heart, and smash it on the ground??
and if they know?? they can feel you slipping away, slipping through their fingers, like sand, like water. and they try so desperately to hold onto you, to keep you, clinging to you. aND THEN THAT JUST BACK FIRES???? OHHHH OHHHHH WEEPS INTO MY HANDS

my sister was asking what i know about avoidant personality disorder and i had to explain that while the doctor who diagnosed my adhd said i had symptoms she didn't actually diagnose me with avpd. because a big part of avpd is like, low self-esteem and not wanting to inflict yourself on others because you think you're lesser. and that is not a problem i have. someone's gotta make this normal social interaction weird by saying weird shit and it might as well be me. if you can't keep up that's a you problem. i'm not the one who sucks here. i'm avoiding that social interaction because i can sense when someone is going to try to talk to me about reality television instead of something interesting, like early 20th century newspaper comics. i'm great at making friends and terrible at getting rid of them. i am avoidant in that i would like to avoid spending time politely listening to someone else be wrong and annoying. whatever i have wrong with me is insufferable in a different way.

Bro I was reenacting the "Just So" clip while I was putting away the dishes and when Frank yelled at Barnaby I was gonna say "oi fuck you" y'know because I was being silly but what came out was an almost PERFECT imitation of Barnaby's voice- I couldn't even finish the "fuck you" because I broke down laughing
Btw the reason this is so funny is because I'm a 5'2" Latino AFAB with NO experience in voice acting whatsoever yet for some reason the spirit of Giant Blues Clues decided my vocal chords were the PERFECT place to set up real estate
Anyway peace and love

"Just do as you're told," Mogget said firmly. "Think of yourself as Abhorsen's sworn sword-hand, if it makes you feel better, though in this present era, you'll find common sense is more important than honor.
"Very well", Touchstone muttered, humbly. He stood up and put on the underclothes and shirt, but couldn't get the trousers past his heavily muscled thighs.
"There's a kilt and leggings in one of the chests back there," Mogget said after watching Touchstone hopping around on one leg, the other trapped in too-tight leather."
if you, as an author, aren't introducing your male love interests like this, what are you even doing with your life?

Jason: *just vibing, thinking his thoughts*
Bruce: What?
Jason: What do you mean what?
Bruce: You were smiling
Jason: Am I not allowed to be happy?
Bruce: You are, but that was just, like, an evil smile
Jason: *offended, turning to Dick* Bruce thinks I have an evil smile
Bruce: I don't think you have an evil smile, just that particular smile looked evil
