Do you have any speculations on Freddy's weird I am not me speech in the afton ending of sb I can't wrap my head around it
I don't like the "Freddy possessed by Micheal" theory but it is most likely leaning towards that for any solid explanation. The "her" could easily be Elizabeth alluding to William telling him to fix her. The friends could easily be the victims or the souls lost in the blob.
It was Micheal's entire mission to save/free them. If the pizzeria under the Pizzaplex is the one from the simulator (Which it most likely is due to the setup) then it's not completely impossible that Micheal's soul was trapped and possessed Freddy hence why Freddy was not infected by the virus, his and Will's souls wouldn't peacefully cohabit a vessel even if it was possible. The whole "I AM NOT ME" could be either Freddy or Mike confirming it's not just them there as in Micheal fully accepting his role as the souls' savior while Freddy is talking about how Afton is finally getting his hands on him.
As much as this explanation makes sense I hate it so much. I want the Afton involvement in the lore to die down, at least from a direct focus on the family and shift towards their effects on people. Like the idea that the VR game could've gotten anyone and we could've had copycats with their own gimmick could've been a fresh thing or just copycats in general (I made whole OCs and storylines based on this). Focus on the guards who died, the otherworldly behaviors or tech that exist as implied/stated by the books! Like just stop making everything circle around the tragedy of the Afton family! I and so many people are tired of their British asses!
The only other theory is simply Freddy being used as a vessel similar to how he interacts with Gregory but to kidnap kids and other victims and bring them down to be used for remnant for Afton. Freddy is remembering and regretting and determined to right the wrongs he was used for. Some cut lines from Vanessa support this. It's less impactful but I like it better as it does not involve the Afton and focuses on the tragedy of the sentient robots/people caught in the middle

Harry Du Bois, the skills + DID/OSDD coding
a compilation of most of my thoughts on harry as a system (note: i am system im not just like. pulling stuff out my ass)
1. Structural Dissociation Theory crash course
so for this point i'm going to give you a crash course structural dissociation theory (do not use me as a source for ur knowledge on it this is very like. base level and just to establish context)
structural dissociation states that we all start as multiple different facets, and that as we grow up, these facets all fuse into a cohesive personality. however, in DID/OSDD, ongoing trauma proves it safer to NOT fuse these facets and instead develop dissociative and amnestic barriers between them to varying degrees. these facets cope by developing into individual personalities, and if traumatic events persist, the brain may split more personalities to try and cope with this. this gives us two bits of information that i'm going to use throughout this
1. there is no "original", just alters that host for long periods of time and/or identify with the body the most
2. amnestic & dissociative barriers are fluid. in times of rest, these barriers may start to come down between some alters, but not necessarily all.
**NOTE: these are not hard and fast rules and vary from system to system. it's also vastly different if you have Polyfrag DID or Complex DID. since I don't hc Harry as polyfrag or complex tho, i'm not gonna get into that
2. Harry (the system)
so it's pretty easy to establish that harry has a good handful of childhood trauma. being born in a military hospital + town and growing up there means he probably saw and/or heard a lot of death and sickness. we also know his father left based on the logic passive in the measurehead conversation
Tumblr media
we also know from the reaction speed passive when you find out your name that harry was born in a time all these were concerns. most likely, hunger, considering how through the game hunger + eating is an undertone w/ harry
Tumblr media
we also have the klaasje half-light passive implying that harry's been raped (might not have occurred during childhood, but still a contributing factor to trauma)
Tumblr media
my point being bro has enough childhood trauma and then some to create a system.
we also see a LOT of amnestic barriers between harry and the rest of the skills. besides the obvious not remembering anything, we see the skills remembering things that harry doesn't.
for example, EChem remembers that harry took speed some point recently, while harry himself doesn't
Tumblr media
we also see that the skills have distinct personalities and opinions separate from each other. shit we've got a communist (rhetoric) and a fascist (endurance) living in the same fucking body. half light is immediately suspicious of everyone and everything while empathy tries to understand everyone even to their own detriment. and volition and echem need a whole post of their own. thats some pretty strong dissociative barriers
3. Harry (the alter)
to be quite honest with you i think harry as we, the audience, know him is a brand new split, an introject* of an old host that has either fused with another alter or gone dormant. he's trying to fill a different harry du bois's shoes- someone he is fundamentally similar to, but is, at his core, not
*Definition from did-research.org: Introjects are alters that are based off of an outside person or figure. Introjects may or may not see themselves as the individual that they represent.
knowing nothing about yourself, even what you look like, is a common feeling for new splits (in our experience). with the high amnestic barriers separating harry from the rest of the system, it makes sense that the first time he is conscious he is totally lost about his own identity, where he lives, or what his occupation even is.
losing facts about basic reality is probably a dissociative response. things the brain knows (see encyclopedia filling in gaps once given a prompt about something like Fillipe the Conquerer) but doesn't want the new host to know for fear of not being able to function.
4. Certain Alters with Functions
some of the skills fall into alter "archetypes" (not all alters will, even in like. real life systems) and im just gonna list them out here:
ones with subtextual backing:
Volition: Caretaker + Apparent Normal Part
Half-Light: trauma holder
Electro-Chemistry: symptom + trauma holder
Authority: protector
Logic: apparent normal part
ones that are just my headcanons:
Interfacing: little
Endurance: ex-persecutor
Inland Empire: ex-caretaker
here ends my post of articulate thoughts, if u have any like. follow up questions feel free to shoot me an ask. might take me a minute tho

How liquid/goopy do you think Fake Peppino is?
Oh boy, Fake Peppino biology headcanons!
So, I lean more towards "something that tries to be solid, but can choose to / be forced into becoming more liquid-like, and is somewhat inconsistent throughout" for my interpretation, personally.
It's absolutely clear from in-game that Fake Peppino is goopy on some level, but I don't imagine that he's made up of a literal liquid. I think his body is more like an amalgamation of this vaguely dough-like, vaguely flesh-like gooey organic mass that is trying its hardest to be Peppino-shaped, "clothes" and all, even if it's just a distorted facsimile. I don't think his mass is completely stable in the way a full flesh-and-blood creature is (or hell, even as stable as most pizza monsters are with their presumably semi-magical biology), so his body still drips and shifts around, but it's got a high viscosity to it under normal circumstances, meaning that his body structure remains relatively cohesive when he's at rest or moving around casually.
That being said, I also imagine goop from his body can slough off forcefully if he moves extremely quickly / suddenly, like if he deforms or contorts too rapidly, or if he collides against something with sufficient force (see: the gooey spattering particle effects in his boss fight). Although, punching and kicking him sure felt like hitting something alive and semi-solid, from Peppino's perspective at least, so whether sheer force makes Fake Peppino solidify or liquefy is somewhat inconsistent and probably depends on the context. (When he's dazed or vulnerable I think he probably has a lot harder time holding himself together, at least.)
I figure you can't push your hand through him or anything (... unless he allows it). It'll probably feel more like pressing against greasy/slimy skin that's a little too squishy, with something subtly writhing beneath the surface. Although if you shook hands with him there would definitely be a firmness to it, maybe briefly fooling you into thinking he actually has bones.
His mass has shapeshifting properties, which allows him to quickly and easily shift into a near-liquid form whenever it's convenient for him, like when he wants to slip through tight narrow spaces, escape into cracks into the floor, or get past barriers or grates. (He also involuntarily slimes himself when he's feeling extremely stressed out, sometimes, but that's more uncommon.) In this state his mass is more like a thick semi-liquid living substance that only sticks to things it chooses to stick to, like some sort of giant gooey amoeba.
I don't think the solidity of his body is always uniform throughout, though. The inside of his body tends to be... looser, for a lack of a better word, and can profusely ooze liquid-like goop if a part of his body is removed or opened up that isn't really "meant" to be removed-- although it'll settle down and solidify into a more viscous state in a minute or two. His hat is a good example of this, based on his boss health icon.
Regardless of whether it's current behaving like a liquid or solid, all of his mass is alive, has something resembling a cellular structure, and all of it is Fake Peppino. Hope this helps!

JONATHAN AND GN!READER AND THEIR ANTICS !!!!!!!
Antics w/ Jonathan and Reader!
I did a similar post yesterday!! (Linked at the end, hopefully, I'm mobile and sometimes tumblr can be weird)
I'm so so sorry it took my so long to get this request <\\3 I was trying to come up with new ideas so it could be different than the other ask <\3, which I highly recommend checking out! Imma be real I'm not totally confident in how this one turned out so that second post can be like an extra/make up <\3
I wasnt sure if you wanted this to be platonic or have them dating so!! It's mostly written as vague in that department!!
Tumblr media
Jonathan doesn't strike me as the person who goes out and does things a lot
Just. Wake up, work, home, sleep, repeat.. he'll sometimes send texts to friends and family to schedule a lunch here and there but
That's about it, hes not very social
So a lot of these antics are really going to be made through you making the plans; with the shenanigans really being unplanned byproducts
Honestly I can totally see Jonathan starting shit with someone, be it accident or on purpose, prompting both of yall having to hightail it out of the area
Reminds me of that part from one of the diary of a wimpy kid movies, where greg n rodrick do that fake puke prank on the guy and have to make a run for it
Actually I can totally see yall subtly being menaces and fucking with people
Maybe not a fake puke prank persay but
Yk?
No crime stuff; I only really see that becoming a thing after he becomes Spot! Both from how he worded his whole "turning to a life of crime" thing and the fact he just
Lacks the experience and confidence
Moving on
Maybe it's just my "let's get silly with the writing" part of me, or it's my need for chaos (arguably the same thing), but
I feel like
Somehow, you guys would accidentally probably maybe kinda sorta
Wreak havoc in ways spot could only dream of (before doing the whole. Bouncing across the multiverse thing)
Yall could probably start the day wanting to go to some food truck and
End it by spending a night in jail
Neither of you are allowed anywhere near food trucks after that /j
No but serious note, Jonathan is basically a hermit, he doesnt like leaving his apartment unless he has to; people are just, so
Eeuuughchk!
So when you two hang out it's either his place or yours
But that's not to say it isnt fun!
Hes got normal stuff people have in their homes, like board games and consoles
And also science doohickies
Yeah people have that in their houses, that's a normal thing
Ngl if you give him any ideas for machines or whatnot hes totally going to give it a try
See previous post with a trans s/o, he would make the transgenderinator if you asked him to
Well now hes just turning into doof
Ykw
I feel like he'd take you to alchemax to show off stuff but like
If you asked nicely
How can he say no to that face?
And also he has no backbone
That's not to say you would pressure him, though! Because that's not cool, dont pressure people. But like, he would cave in the way of "I know it's not that serious and I know they'll probably understand if I say no, but I don't want to ever risk disappointing them ever in my life, so I'm gonna say yes!" Kind of way
He just like me frfr
And this is assuming you even know about alchemax
Which personally, unless you're in some way associated with it, I'm p sure be would have a strong boundary to keep you out of it
This is really just turning into a general ramble <\3
Anyways
I dont have many ideas since I struggle with general hcs like this but!! Yeah!! Definitely recommend the linked post for a better more cohesive (?) List of ideas and hcs!! This post kinda
Made me realize I dont have many hcs for Jonathan outside of making his personality a smart pathetic science man
Gotta fix that , give him some hobbies n stuff in the future
Link to a similar post!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! STAY SAFE OUT THERE!!!!!!
Update regarding art posts in 2023 below the cut.
-------------
Hello gamers. As you are all aware, I'm busy working at my IRL job and on Adonia in the free time I can spare (I like to save a large chunk of that free time for just me time now, so not all of my free time is dev time dw dw). Because of how much I want to focus on Adonia, I can't make any promises for art at events next year for blooming panic -- birthdays, holidays, etc. I'll probably try to do a doodle, but I'd rather spend most of my time on Adonia in 2023. Ty in advance for understanding 🙏
Some updates on Adonia:
- I've pulled in some more readers to help out with Sungho + Sara, and will be pulling in more for Jerri soon
- Jerri has her own writer now (woo!) who was one of the devs on the bp dev team
- Sungho has a co-writer now, and it's someone trying game writing for their first time. We shout our support for them from the rooftops!!!!!
- Now that I've offloaded half the writing to ~4 other writers, I'm focusing a lot on game design and cohesion. That game flow shit is fun shit
- I'll probably not be posting many preview images of the game since I like surprises. But I'll drop something from time to time
Anyway, that's it! Ty all!

Dungeon Meshi characters and the music I think they'd listen to:
Laios - No real genre cohesion, but loves anything that he can imagine monsters to. He has extensive mental music videos of monsters doing cool things that he will set to songs which he plays on repeat. Probably has more movie and video game soundtracks than actual mainstream music.
Marcille - Florence and the Machine and Hozier are amongst her favorite artists, and she has a soft spot for ALL dramatic and romantic songs, especially with female vocalists. She guards her tastes very carefully, afraid of what others might think, but will gush to Falin about her interpretations of lyrics, and make her playlists all day long
Chilchuck - dad rock and certain folk punk tracks. He's been found in a puddle of tears listening to mountain goats songs about breakups, but he never mentions that when he lists his favorite artists because he wants you to THINK he's not fucked up over it. Will also listen to classic blues.
Senshi - A jazz lover if I ever saw one. He doesnt really listen to it except in the background while cooking or working, but he likes it because it reminds him of the improvisational side of cooking, and how it keeps him moving while he works.
Falin - I think Falin likes a lot of pop but has a particular soft spot for vocaloid, j-pop, k-pop and chiptune. She's just deeply autistic about the artists she likes, doesnt particularly "stan" anyone because she doesnt approach it like that, but she does try to get Marcille into it all (with mixed success)
Izutsumi - the meow mix jingle (breakcore remix) [10 hours]
Kabru - The widest range listener, because he'll gladly listen to and learn about any of the artists people around him listen to. He specifically keeps up with top 40 entirely so he can have an idea whats in the zeitgeist. If you ask him to put on something and he doesnt know your tastes he'll default to a "safe option" like chillhop beats to study/relax to
Thistle - This one I'm not super sure but Linkin Park for sure is a regular listen for him. Will cry-sing along with it. Probably also delves into other teenage angst music ranging from pop punk to emo. Would write his favorite lyrics in sharpie on his ragged converse
Shuro - All classical. He was raised to have extremely refined tastes and can play several instruments himself, but he doesnt have much interest in music really.
Namari - I dont know why but I feel like she'd have an eclectic mix of classic hip-hop artists like Missy Elliot, riot girl music, and old school heavy metal. Also probably has a soft spot for certain pop songs but refuses to admit it.
Mithrun - I want to say he'd be into Shoegaze but like, obviously does not seek out music, so he literally only listens to whatever those around him put on.
Fleki - Psych rock, psy-trance, trip-hop. Do i even have to explain
Lycion - All Hardcore. Loves the energy and will actively mosh.
Pattadol - An absolute Swiftie.
Cithis - The sort to listen to indie pop and then EVISCERATE you for your opinions on music online. Hates Swifties.
Otta - Loves mainstream hip-hop/pop music. I feel like she'd really love Doja Cat.
I think thats every main character. If you disagree with my thoughts dont be mean! We're all just trying to have fun here

An Ask Game for Writers to Procrastinate Working on Your WIP(s)
First of all, thank you soooo much to @monbons and @valeffelees for tagging me, I nearly had a whole breakdown over how nice this fandom is and how good it feels to be included in something like this. Yall are the sweetest, thank you <3 1. 🦈Tell us the name of your/ one of your WIP(s): Uhhhh, yall name your WIPs beforehand? I currently have two documents titled "nose ring simon" and "wing fic" and I typically title it just before I post it.
2. 🍄Describe your WIP/one of your WIP(s) in the format of “___ + ___ =___” I think you'll find this is a pretty easy formula for most, if not all, of my fics. Simon + Piercing + Baz Horny. Alternatively, Simon + Wings = Baz Horny. Sensing a theme?
3. 🌍What tags or warnings will one of your WIP(s) need if you intend to share it? Explicit tags, for sure. It'd be pretty funny to tag the wingfic as monsterfucking, so I'll probably do that, but otherwise, nothing crazy going on here. Just boys very much in love.
4. 🧭An alternative title to one of your WIP(s)? "wing fic" often affectionately gets called "how the fuck do wings work" or "goddamn motherfucking physics"
5. ⚠️Which WIP you're most likely to finish or update next? Definitely the piercing one. The wing fic isn't cohesive or coherent at this time, and it's more of a collection of scenes rather than a whole fic, anyway. I'm having a lot of fun writing the piercing one!!!
6. 💾What is your document of your WIP/ a WIP called? (not the stories actual title but what you’ve saved it as) Please see answer #1. It's truly mind boggling to know that some of yall are out here naming WIPs.
7. 🖍Post Any sentence(s) from your WIP.
Of course it's gold. Everything about Simon is gold. His mind, his body, his soul. The color of his skin and his hair when the sun shines through it from behind. The small loop now adorning his nostril.
8. ♻️A scrapped idea for your current WIP. For wing fic, I was trying to figure out a way to make an au scene where everyone has wings, and I could do a little, like, wing caretaking session? But I couldn't find a solid enough reason for everyone to have wings, and also I realized I just didn't care enough about that scene to pursue it further.
9. 🤔What’s a story you’d love to write but haven’t even started yet? I find this question particularly difficult. I don't know that there are any stories I want to tell, right now. Usually when I want to write something, I schedule it in and I do it. Right now, there's nothing on the back-burner.
10. 🤡How many WIPS are you actively working on? Only the 2! I'm not usually one to work on multiples at a time.
11. 🛠Is there a scene or anything in the WIP you are struggling with right now? Re: "goddamn motherfucking physics," I've never been super into fantasy or a fandom that particularly liked wings, so I genuinely have no clue how these things work. I took on this project as a gift for @valeffelees after he lamented the lack of wing fics for him to devour, and while I'm not an expert, I'm certainly trying my best. But like, the anatomy??? of a wing???
12. ❤️Not a question, just a second Kudos to send. Again, thank you both so much for tagging me. You're exactly who I would have tagged here, so instead of tagging you both again, I'll tag @thewholelemon even though I know you've already filled this out <3 Also, I'll tag @chaoticgaywitch @iamamythologicalcreature @youarenevertooold @beastmonstertitan and @brilla-brilla-estrellita because you all played our stupid little poetry game and brought me a lot of joy!

WIP Questionnaire
Thanks @buffythevampirelover for the tag! This game looks fun!
Rules: answer as few or as many as you'd like!
1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?
TSP: Lexi was! TSP started out as a school project, and we had to create a character sheet for our first person narrator! That was "Alexia" who is now just "Lexi" (but her full name is still Alexia).
SOTL: The concept! "School for fairy tale characters" was basically it. I got discouraged a bit when I found out this concept already existed, but that didn't mean I couldn't do my own take!
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
My favorite types of intros for TV shows are original theme songs or very catchy instrumental music. 30-60 seconds is a good length. I'd hope that for TSP and SOTL. Hope this isn't a cop-out.
3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?
TSP: My favorite characters to write for are Lexi, Gwen, Akash, Robbie, and Carmen. Lexi because the arc I gave her is an exaggerated version of something that speaks a lot to me. Gwen because I wasn't expecting her to be as interesting as she ended up being planned to be. Robbie and Akash because of how funny and sweet their dynamic is. Yes, I love them separately, but they're a package set. Carmen because she's just so damn interesting I love studying her under a microscope.
SOTL: I am barely into writing it, but it's Jack at the moment. Shocker, he has three chapters while Tierney and Úrsula have one each! But the reason is that he is average at everything, but he doesn't let that get him down! He's funny and relatable and a dork.
4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?
TSP: Hm, good question. The only thing coming to mind right now is Young Justice (the cartoon). Starts out with this fun group of kids, becomes extremely dark. Ensemble cast. Sneaking around. Superpowers. Fight scenes. Drama.
SOTL: Insert fairy tale retelling here.
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?
TSP: Juggling everything. The world building, I guess. Making all the characters distinct was something I struggled at for a while, but I'm getting much better at it. Trying to figure out how the world works is challenging, but I am having fun. But juggling all the moving parts to make it cohesive is a challenge.
SOTL: What is plot?!! Also battling my ambition to do every fairy tale ever. I'm gonna have to make a lot of background characters that will get their own side stories separate from the main series to get all that I want. I probably will do that.
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
TSP: Yep! Alium has a lot of fantasy creatures, animal hybrids, and fun things I just made up. Custos the dragon is the only truly prominent one right now. He's a blue fire dragon and is adorable. I also have kitsunes. Animal hybrids include unibison, ferretsnakes, cowyotes, beaverducks. Things I made up include the elemental foxes and blue hedgehogs.
SOTL: Hofiwi is an anthropomorphic bear! She was cursed to be anthropomorphic, this is not a normal thing in this world. I love her and she's just planned at the moment. Can't wait to do more.
7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
TSP: Hovercrafts, dragons, teleporting, trains, and some other power-based travel
SOTL: I'm still figuring this out no one has gone anywhere yet. Dragons or carriages would be cool. Maybe I can mix them with something modern to fit the setting.
8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?
TSP: World building! Specifically the power database since that will be the backbone for everything.
SOTL: Reading fairy tales... I need to do that more
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?
TSP: Powers, diverse cast, queer/disability rep
SOTL: same as TSP but fairy tales!
10. What are your hopes for your wip?
If I see one (1) fanart between either my life will be complete.
This was fun!
Softly tagging @mk-writes-stuff @jezifster @blind-the-winds @little-peril-stories @sleepywriter00 @mysticstarlightduck @sarahlizziewrites @writernopal @gottestod-writes + anyone who wants to join!
TSP intro
TSP tag list (ask to be +/-): @thepeculiarbird @illarian-rambling @televisionjester @finchwrites - giving a slightly harder nudge than usual cause I really want to see what y'all have to say! Still optional obviously
Blanks below the cut!
1. What was the first part of your wip that you created?
2. If your story was a TV show, what would the theme song/intro be?
3. Who are your favourite characters you've made? Why?
4. What other pieces of media do you think would share a fan base for your story?
5. What has been your biggest struggle with your wip?
6. Are there any animals in your story? Talk about them!
7. How do your characters get around? (ex: trains, horses, cars, dragons, etc.)
8. What part of your wip are you working on rn?
9. What aspects (tropes, maybe?) of your wip do you think will draw people in?
10. What are your hopes for your wip?

We're back for the last update before Barflina fucks off to college! This is one giant update I have to split in 2 parts them thanks to the liferuining new 30 pics limit, I will post part 2 right after this one. I don't mean to be dramatic but the universe cannot contain my hatred for the new post editor. At least I have Wendi looking all cute and regal.

just some thoughts on the difference we see between Bro striders comics and Dave striders comics. There’s not any main point I want to make I just want to talk about it.
We don’t really see much of Bro Striders comics, in fact I think we only ever see one, which is this comic addressed to Dave which Dave is clearly uncomfortable about and think’s Bro is just doing to “get under your (dave’s) skin”
Tumblr media
The comic above shows 3 different muppet characters: A young Rowlf the dog, a baby version of Animal, and Kermit the frog ( At least I think so?) dressed as Billy the puppet from Saw. The comic shows Rowlf freaking out over accidentally killing Animal, scared what nanny will do to him ( Nanny is a character in the 1984 show “ Muppet babies “ , which is what this comic is about ) , in which Kermit asks Rowlf if he wants to play a game, probably because he feels like Rowlf does not value life enough than he should considering he just killed a baby Animal.
We don’t really know whether the “click” of the light is a supposed to represent Rowlfs imagination working and getting an idea or if it is a literal click of a light going on. Because of this, we don’t know if Rowlf is imagining his incoming punishment/test or if it will literally happen to him.
Regardless this comic is creepy as hell considering this is the only comic we actually get from Bro strider himself. It is literally a comic about Rowlf’s guilt killing a baby and getting a potential punishment for it.
There is something else I find interesting in regards to bro strider, which is when Dave creates a comic but claims he doesn’t like it because its “ too much like my bro’s stuff “ :
Tumblr media
the actual handwriting and art style REALLY gets me. The handwriting is practically the exact same in Bro’s comic and the art style is pretty close too, just less detailed. What really interests me is the fact this art style is really similar to Hussie’s  earlier comics he made that were really racist ( For people who don’t know, the name lil cal actually came from these earlier comics as well. lil cal was a racist caricature character in these comics) . The handwriting is the exact same as well. Bro’s handwriting is Hussie’s handwriting I suppose.
Dave didn’t really like this comic because it was too much like his Bro’s, giving us some indication that not all of Bro’s comics were really dark like the one we get. This comic is about drugs, violence, and getting women.
Now onto sweet bro and hella jeff:
Tumblr media
Just some obvious things:
The art style is really different
Ironically less cohesive than Bro’s stuff. You have to rely a lot on context to get some of the comics in SBAHJ to get what’s going on, it might not be clear especially when the style goes to complete dog shit. The comics also do a lot of “to be continued” shit.
Also less crude than bro’s stuff. Some of the comic is still about  drugs, getting women, and violence, but it’s less center front. There are incest jokes, though.
Now SBAHJ was actually made on the penny arcade forums. Hussie drew his own take on someone’s shitty parody of a comic trying to make fun of the “two gamer comic”. SBAHJ formed to show how much an original piece of media can change at the hand of the people viewing it. It later got turned into “Dave’s creation.”
To me SBAHJ has more of a focus on friendship and pissing around with your bro’s than what Bro’s stuff would be about. Bro’s stuff seems to be less about that found-brotherly bond and more focused on different things, but we can’t know for sure since we only have one thing made by him and another thing made by his brother who was heavily inspired by him. I just find it interesting how while Bro’s comics are about accidentally killing your friends, Dave’s are about being an absolute fool with them. ( Though this isnt exclusive.)

do you have an analysis where you talk about why you disagree with what canon has to say about classpects anywhere? i looked but tumble isn’t exactly the greatest at searching for stuff. i’m just curious to know what the issues are with what was said in canon
Sure. Though I don't know if I'd say I "disagree with canon" so much as I think the more someone tries to give us a straight up, clean answer on it, they're probably an unreliable source. My source is canon, but more holistically.
For me I think this started two places. First: I just..... don't really buy the idea of Pages being the Slow Burn class. I never bought it, honestly? As soon as I figured out how Jake English manages people and their expectations of him to get what he wants, it threw into question the whole concept of the class. Because Jake is the second most emotionally intelligent character in HS after Karkat, but he uses it for himself rather selfishly instead of for a greater cause. When Jake subtly or subconsciously tries to bend the story to his will, he's remarkably effective.
So, of course, I looked at Tavros. What does Tavros Nitram want? Well, he wants to have fun, to progress at his own pace, and to kind of do his own thing. I found it very interesting how the people around him sort of bent to what he wanted. No one stopped Tavros from dreaming on Prospit. He didn't do anything to get those mechanical legs, which he textually wanted, other folks took care of that for him. No one really stopped Tavros from playing the game (both FLARP and SGRUB) the way he wanted to. Aradia enables his allegedly bad class choice, Karkat orders Vriska to save his life, and when Vriska wants to force Tavros to play her way, Kanaya interferes. It's all very cohesive to me in a way that I genuinely do not know if the creator intended, but the pattern is absolutely there.
So, whoop, Pages Are A Slow Burn gets tossed into the garbage where it belongs.
The other one that really made me go "huh" is Calliope's Active/Passive thing. From the moment I read it the first time, I was like "i'm........ not sure that's a thing" and on every subsequent reread and relisten, I became even more certain she's just theorycrafting and its not borne out in the actual text. Which, frankly, fits into Calliope's whole thing of being a proxy for fans, particularly their speculation. She outright says to Dirk she gets carried away with her theorizing.
Like... for me its the Prince thing. I flat out don't think Princes are "The Most Active Class," at all, full stop. The idea is kind of silly to me. Eridan wasn't fucking Super Active, he just became extremely potent when he finally went off. And Dirk, similarly, is the king of Hurry Up And Wait. When shit pops off, he acts with incredible effectiveness, but the rest of the time he's zoning the fuck out, white lying about how cool he is, and fishing.
Same with Seers on the opposite end. Am I meant to take seriously the idea that Rose Lalonde and Terezi fucking Pyrope are the most passive class, nah. No sell. I literally and actually think I could make a better argument that Witches are more passive than Seers.
And then I just... don't agree with Calliope's verbiage of the classes. Dirk was not a destroyer of heart/soul, his most dramatic and effective moments in the story are harnessing his aspect, and in the conversation where Calliope tells Roxy her verbiage, even she says its a little esoteric and hard to grasp.
Calliope's trying to apply very firm wording and delineation to something that Terezi much earlier calls a "hyperflexible mythology." That reading of classpect frankly bears out a lot more, imo.
Which just led me to the conclusion that: all the stuff Calliope says, its her opinion. What I am interested in is action. What do these people do, what do they think of their aspect, how does it manifest.
My conclusion was basically: fuck passive/active, this is all about your role in the narrative. Which, in my opinion, fits very well into the two ways HS is structured: as a video game (the vernacular, the commands, the literalization of abstractions like inventory and leveling up), and as a stage play (the acts, the curtains, the intermissions).

Olympique Lyonnais Behind the Scenes (Episode 5)
This covers the month of January. Better late than never but alas some of us have jobs that we want to keep and cannot be chronically online. The Behind the Scenes translations is one of those times where I wish I was technologically apt because then I could just upload the video and add subtitles, alas, neither OLPlay nor my technology skills will ever make that happen.
I have no shame in confessing to this - I didn't want to do this one because Carpenter is in it and I am so irked by all the fucking Arsenal fans/stans suddenly thirsting for her to join their godawful team after the abuse she is has gotten from Arsenal stans the past two years. To act like she should join that club after what those people have said / done is so completely tone-deaf. Likewise, suddenly using "le clean sheet" every time your goalkeeper does their actual job is not as cute/funny as you think it is. It's annoying. It's so fucking annoying.
I will also save those godawful stans the time and say that Lyon / Carpenter do not address Carpenter's engagement to van de Donk as Lyon is a serious club who doesn't use a player's personal life as a marketing ploy. The purpose of the Behind the Scenes is to get to know the players' mentality and thoughts about the month's events.
Blah blah standard disclaimers apply; @OL Comms I feel like chipping in to contribute my Starbucks fund is the least you could do considering all the free work I am doing for y'all; how amazing would it be if some of you would actually get the mental help you so desperately need; y'all know the speech.
OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS BEHIND THE SCENES (EPISODE 5)
Ellie Carpenter: We had a lot of games. We had Champions League games. I think it was a much needed break for everyone.
Selma Bacha: We really needed to have a break, because there are players who went straight into the World Cup so they didn't have a lot of rest. Everyone benefited from the break. For me, I went to Tunisia, where my family is originally from. So I had a great time with my family. And then we started up again. The break was short.
Damaris: It was good for everybody I think to go home, to be with our families and friends. Just to push football aside and enjoy ourselves. Yeah, that's always a good thing.
[OPENING CREDITS]
[TRAINING FOOTAGE FROM GIRONA]
Sara Dabritz: We went to preseason camp. It was really good. We spent a lot of time together. We had a nice hotel. It was intense but it's like that in camp. But I think it was good for us to prepare for the [second half of the] season.
Carpenter: The training camp in Spain was a nice way to come back at the start of this year to train well, to get the basics back, get back in the gym. And it was also really fun for the team morale. The camps with the team are always really fun. We have to work fun but also enjoy ourselves off the field.
Bacha: It was hard because you come back from break and you have to dig deep and work hard. So it was really hard because we had a fitness test over there.
Carpenter: The worst moment was probably the running test we had to do, the 1.5km [1 mile] sprint test.
Bacha: Honestly, that's when you realize that Olympique Lyonnais is a family. You can see it in the video clips, we're encouraging each other. The cohesion was top.
[TRAINING FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Bacha: My favorite moment was the team cohesion activity with the golf carts. Honestly it was so good. We had to do stuff - well, we had to do funny things. It was the best part.
Carpenter: Driving around the hotel trying to find clues, that was very fun.
[TEAM COHESION ACTIVITY FOOTAGE]
Carpenter: Yeah, we knew we had Paris FC as soon as we got back from Christmas break. After having been off we thought it might be hard to come back and play against a top team in Europe, in France for sure.
[LYON - PARIS FC GAME FOOTAGE]
Bacha: We got right into it. We know that those sort of games, they're going to very very big games because Paris FC is a really good team who has really improved and recruited really well. And honestly, it was a big game. We had to work for that win, so the game was won on mentality.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Carpenter: Paris FC has shown that they're a great team, they're a top team in Europe, doing well in the Champions League and, yeah. The intensity was high. I think you could feel that everyone just came back from holidays but we'll fight, until those last five minutes when we did score.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Bacha: Ah, Ada's goal, that's just Ada Hegerberg. That's it. There's no other forward who can do that. Honestly, when we celebrated - even I spoke in English, I said "what a goal". [Hegerberg speaks English when she's annoyed, which is why Bacha brings up the linguistic switch] Her shot was really incredible. You can watch it over and over. If you ask her tomorrow to do it it, she will. And it's true that she's the kind of player whom you can count on in big games. Everyone should have an Ada on their team.
Damaris: Yes, it was a magnificent goal. Speaking for myself, I was far back. It was a long ball, I headed it forward. I saw the ball stay there and I saw Ada [Hegerberg] call for the ball. When you're behind, you can see everything. Right before she took the shot, I was like "well, that's going to be a goal."
Carpenter: Yeah, she's a big game player, she scores big goals. So we needed that in that moment and she did that. So it was very cool.
[LYON - PARIS FC POSTGAME FOOTAGE]
Bacha: Honestly, it's good for us and it gets us going. I think we've been really good since the start of the season. And when I talk with players on other teams, or other coaches, they tell me that Lyon this year is unbeatable, so I hope it continues like that and we'll bring all the trophies home.
Damaris: The work we did for that game, we worked really hard. I don't think we were really efficient but we had a lot of opportunities to score.
Carpenter: Yeah, I think it was important that we started the year off with three points and continue our perfect streak in the league.
[LYON - MONTPELLIER COUPE DE FRANCE GAME FOOTAGE]
Dabritz: We had the game against Montpellier in the Coupe [de France]. I remember Amel [Majri] scoring a magnificent goal. It was a right on target.
Majri: Yeah, I saw Lindsey [Horan], she won the ball back. I called for it, she passed it to me. I think Ada [Hegerberg] was besides me asking for it as well, but I don't know, I think I was focused on what I was doing. So I just took a shot and it went it.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Bacha: Yeah, it's really great. Good on her as well because you can see she is starting to get her rhythm back. It's not easy when you're not playing all the time. Here, honestly, I'm just so happy for her. I hope she continues like that because she's the sort of player we really need.
Carpenter: Yeah, I love playing with Amel [Majri]. Yeah, I think she's one of the best players in the world I've seen or played with. [is she though...] She's an amazing talent and you can see what she's capable of now when she's getting back to the top of her game.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Carpenter: The team is in very good spirits at the moment, and you can tell that on the field. Off the field, we're a very close group and we work for each other. And on the field, you can see we're very connected. We're just enjoying ourselves out there, we're not too much pressure [on ourselves], we're just trying to play good football.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Majri: So really, when I went to call for the ball, I could see that even if I got it, I didn't think I could do much with it. So I said to myself, "Amel, leave it", so I left it and there was Ada [Hegerberg] and then a goal. And I thought - well I'm not going to lie to you, when I left I thought to myself "I hope she gets it". And to be frank she was doing great work before, because Lindsey [Horan] got past the opponent, and she [Hegerberg] just shot across. Honestly, it's a great goal.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Majri: Yeah, I'm happy because it's always nice to implicated in the build-up to a goal. I think that what I bring in terms of the style of play, I try to be involved in the ball movement, moving with the ball, moving without the ball. And I have good sensations, I feel good. Beyond that it's also the fact that I have been playing in consecutive games. But in terms of full games, I think it's one of my best performances since I have come back.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Carpenter: I guess playing a team one week after the other, twice in a row, it's quite difficult. It was a different Montepellier we faced at their home as well, away. Yeah, it was a tough game, it was one we had to grind out. Yeah, we knew they were going to come out different, like after beating them in the Coupe [de France], we knew it would be a completely different game since they're at home, and they totally showed that.
Bacha: We know that the league and the Coupe de France have nothing to do with each other. We know that Montpellier is a very, very aggressive team. And we knew that playing at their stadium was going to be hard. But here, yeah, it was really hard.
[MONTPELLIER - LYON GAME FOOTAGE]
Bacha: The night before the game, I was really focused on myself. I knew there were people coming to watch us, members of my family. And then, corner. It comes back to Eugenie [Le Sommer], who gives it back to me, and I was like - I knew exactly where I wanted to put it. So I pulled it in and placed it on Vanessa [Gilles]'s head. So really, really happy.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Bacha: It's that left foot, it's my left foot. What can I say. But beyond that, I work really hard. I know that I always want perfection. Because I know there are games where the crosses aren't good, but I really want perfection.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Bacha: My second assist for Ada [Hegerberg], it's vintage Ada-Selma. It's that connection that I think not a lot of people have. Honestly, with her, I know where she wants the ball and - honestly, I don't even have to look up. Because I cross, but I already know where she is.
Carpenter: Yeah, Selma [Bacha] is a great crosser, a great assister. Yeah, they're perfect, those crosses, pinpoint. If it wasn't for her we probably wouldn't have gotten the three points. So it was great to have her service [LOL at the Franglais here - the correct word would have been contribution], it allowed us to score goals.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Dabritz: I remember that it was a very intense game. But it's always like that against Montpellier. It's always a game which comes down to the duels, to aggression. They came back with that goal, it was a game which was a little [Dabritz mimes going back and forth] But then we won it and that's the most important thing.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Dabritz: We gave it all on the field. And it's normal to have games which are more complicated than others. And yeah, Montpellier is a good team, I can admit that.
Bacha: That's why I said that Olympique Lyonnais, the mentality - honestly, there are few players who can walk on to this team and say they already have that mentality. [@/any team other than Lyon. A blood lust isn't innate. It's learned behavior.]
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Dabritz: We went to Austria for a Champions League game. Those are always special games for us. It's a particular game, playing the Champions League, those games are seen as the highest level.
[ST POLTEN - LYON PREGAME FOOTAGE]
Carpenter: Yeah, you never know really, when you go to other teams, other countries, how the pitch is going to be. Yeah, the pitch wasn't great. But we made the most of it and we had quite a good game.
Bacha: A stadium which was ... [Bacha laughs] It was a complicated game. No, playing on that pitch was complicated, it was a bit hard. But we started strong. We attacked from the start, even if we were starting to feel the tiredness. But we attacked from the start and were playing simple. And honestly, we were very efficient as well.
[ST POLTEN - LYON GAME FOOTAGE]
Dabritz: And yeah, we played a really good game, with a lot of goals and a really good performance from the entire team.
[ST POLTEN - LYON GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Bacha: [forcefully] We never underestimate a team. When you play simple and individually you're clean, technically you're clean, and you're all on the same wave length, honestly there are not - we're good.
[ST POLTEN - LYON GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Carpenter: Getting players back from injury, it's always nice, especially when they're providing assists and scoring goals. That's even better.
[ST POLTEN - LYON GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Dabritz: Yeah, it was a good goal. [laughs] We really enjoyed ourselves on the field, we had nice combinations, we were explosive offensively. At least I think so. So we were really happy after the game.
[ST POLTEN - LYON GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
[TRAINING FOOTAGE / COUPE DE FRANCE LYON - FC NANTES FOOTAGE]
Bacha: Yeah, it wasn't an easy game because maybe in our heads, even if I think it's not really like that, but instinctively it's human nature and we underestimated them. FC Nantes came in with their game plan. They're a really good team, I was surprised. The first half was difficult. I think it's a little bit because exhaustion is starting to creep in. But the changes at half time did us some good and we were really efficient. The coach [Sonia Bompastor] yelled a bit at half time but it's normal. It's like that.
Carpenter: Yeah, I think fatigue comes into play there. I think it was our fifth or sixth game in a run. They were a different team, we hadn't really played them before. I think we can put that first half behind us and I think we really came out better in the second half. But yeah, I think we ended the game better than we started.
[LYON - FC NANTES GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Carpenter: Yeah, it was so nice to see Delphine [Cascarino] make her return from her ACL. Obviously it's such a long rehab, such a long journey. It's tough to have an injury and go through something like that, and it's her second one as well. But I think she's done an amazing job. You can see in the way she's come back, she still has her speed, has her footwork.
Bacha: It was a really good moment for Delphine, the return against FC Nantes. We saw her struggle, her mentality is just incredible. It's really hard to have the ACL injury happen twice, to have missed the World Cup when we were expecting her, we wanted her there. Now she had the mentality, she dug deep. I'm really happy to see her back because it will really do us good.
[GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D / LYON - SLAVIA PRAGUE GAME FOOTAGE]
Carpenter: Yeah, we knew we were first in the group and obviously qualified, but we also knew we needed to put out a strong performance [they did not]. We wanted to keep the flow going for how well we're doing this month [of January]. On game day, obviously not everything went to plan. Obviously I think fatigue played a little bit in that as well, but that's not really an excuse. We should be better. We had 10,000 people come and you know, the more people that come the better, at least for us. We want to perform well, put on a show, for them to come back again.
Bacha: First of all we have to thank the fans who come out and support us. They're becoming more and more, so we need to thank them and for them to continue coming out and supporting us. After, it was hard because - well personally, I could feel the exhaustion. Then Slavia [Prague] was playing with a really low block. They came to get something at Lyon, even if we were already first and already qualified. At the end of the day we're Olympique Lyonnais. It's not acceptable to have played that sort of game.
LYON - SLAVIA PRAGUE GAME FOOTAGE CONT'D]
Carpenter: Yeah, it was very frustrating. I think games like that, you want to play the next game very quickly after so you can have a good reaction.
Dabritz: We were a little disappointed because we weren't happy with our performance. We wanted to show to the public that we can put on good performances, they came for us. That's why we were a bit disappointed. Beyond that, we want to continue, we always want to improve, progress. We always want to give our best. But it's not always possible.
Bacha: I'd rather it happened to us then than get to the quarterfinals and you're knocked out I hope it will serve as a lesson to us.
Carpenter: No team is perfect in the world. Some teams have draws or a loss and it's not the end of the world. I think we need to remind ourselves that we're also human as well. Not every game is the best game. January is probably the biggest month we've had in a long time. We knew we had a lot of games, we had to get points, play well, perform. I think as a team we did that great, especially as we have some injuries at the moment as well so we had to adapt. I think the team has held up well. We're ready for February.

I do! or at least I try to. The mental health has been a bit of a dumpster fire recently but I really appreciate every comment and always try to respond even if it's weeks later lol
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I don't think I've written anything with a particularly angsty ending, except my lil angsty drabble: But you're not special, you're evil.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I think most of my fics end happily bc I am a sap, but maybe Golden retriever boy.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I wouldn't consider it hate per se, but I have encountered people who don't know how to use a back button and who think I care that they disagree with my bi4bi headcanons.
9. Do you write smut? What kind?
I literally only have three fics that are not rated E lmao
10. Do you write cross-overs?
I'm not really deep enough in any other fandoms to write cross-overs, and they are never my go-to to read either.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No
12. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
Yes, one chapter of No such thing as purity with my darling kae (who is not on tumblr)
13. What WIP you would like to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I outlined an angsty hurt/comfort wyclair piece that picks up during S1, but I struggled a little with Enid's voice and the complexity of the dynamic given where it falls in canon, so it is mostly abandoned. I think it was a good idea but it requires a lot of time and attention I don't think I can give it rn. Maybe one day I'll go back to it
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
I actually don't know that I have one?
15. What are your writing strengths?
I think I do fairly well with descriptions/body positioning etc.
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
Sometimes writing dialogue is like pulling teeth.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
If it's a language I know well enough, then sure.
18. First fandom you wrote for?
Wednesday.
19. Favourite fic you've ever written?
I feel like this changes all the time but possibly If you wanna go to heaven. The supernatural elements were fun and it was a gift for my dear nik, who in turn has gifted me a succubus!Wednesday fic I will cherish forever (killing boys).
20. What fic would you want to rewrite one day?
If I was going to rewrite anything, it would probably be SLH. It has evolved a lot due to the nature of writing while posting, so I'd probably want to edit and revise it to make it feel a bit more cohesive and trim the fat.
Not sure if you have done this already but @nonamemanga @suchaladyy @the-strangest-person I am curious about your responses 👀

As promised here, I'm continuing a series of posts on NewJeans and why I think the group holds real potential. What I want to briefly talk about this time, is the quality of their music.
Credit: @/haerin1sta
*
Not exactly sure how this is going to come across, but the truth is very few groups in k-pop give me a quality sonic experience. I mean, for a lot of groups, I get no joy from playing them out loud in my space. BTS is one group where the music is so dynamic, textured and layered... I know this probably sounds pretentious, but BTS's music is the perfect blend of cohesive + complex + simple to suit my taste. I enjoy sitting back in my living room, dimming the lights and drawing the blinds, to hear Dis-ease play over my Bowers & Wilkins 800 D4 speakers. It feels like an actual pleasure. I get this with BTS, nearly every time. There's a handful of other groups whose songs I sometimes feel this way about, but there's been no other group that consistently gets me this way lately more than NewJeans.
At least I'm pretty sure there's no other group that gets me to break out a subwoofer more than NewJeans, after BTS.
All their songs have such a deep and rich bass.
It's almost sickening. Listen, k-pop has done R&B for years. The sound isn't new to the industry by any means, but the way NewJeans does R&B you can tell whoever makes their shit, cette personne a eu le cœur brisé par une personne noire.
Take for example a song like ASAP. That moment the bass comes in at 0:40, during the chorus - it sounds heavenly on my speakers. The whole song feels kinda magical and odd, like Christmas in July, and I suspect one reason why is the chord progression which I recognize to follow that of many Christmas hymns... and the deep heavy bass.

You might not hear it right in this clip because of how Youtube compresses their sound, but I think one can still tell the pitch shifts slightly. The tweaky game-beat percussion that fills up the rest of the song feels disorienting but that's also the point. By the time the second chorus comes in, the contrast it creates feels like you're diving into a pool of cool water on a hot day. It's so good. It's like that weird genre-mix thing SM likes to do in their songs, but with NewJeans it's so much more effortless, weirder, and cooler.

All five girls have clean, clear vocals and very distinct vocal colours. One reason their music is so good, is because all their songs put an emphasis on their vocals. For example, listen to the pulled stems for Hurt.
The first 2 minutes and 50 seconds is pure acappella heaven, and then you realize it's placed in the center. The mix is so full and centered, it's perfect. The other stems in the video from 2:50 too are such a delight to listen to.

The sense of easy excellence is everywhere in NewJeans' sound and concept. They don't need to force anything, they don't need crazy ornamental riffs, or ridiculous beat switches to capture and hold attention. All the harmonizing that needs to be done is already in the music. It's simple and for that reason, good. Hurt for example is just a well made song.
It's so fun to play in the car. It sounds like a joint Andre 3000 would produce.
Another song that absolutely blows me away when I play it, is Cookie. Can you even try to imagine what the intro on Cookie sounds like with subwoofers?
It's mad.

Ador encourages the girls to fully participate in several aspects, from songwriting (the members have been writing their songs since debut and 4 out of 5 members are credited on their songs so far), to making their choreography, to applying their ideas towards their marketing. It's really remarkable for a rookie group, but I also feel this is a culture HYBE has been trying to create at all their sub-labels.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to more music from NewJeans. Get Up was a solid treat - my ranking of the songs on it so far:
New Jeans
Cool with You & Get Up
ASAP
ETA
Super Shy

curious as to whether or not you'd recommend nofna and if so how to start reading, i know liking something/thinking it is good/being able to recommend it are three very different things and i was wondering how it shapes up for nofna
i suppose that i would recommend it with a cautionary asterisk to know that it has many issues. i respect what it tries to do more than any good but uninteresting webcomic brings to the table -- but it only TRIES to bring those ideas to the table. it is best interacted with in a sort of talmudic fashion, where it is approached knowing that the source material has many unsavory sentiments and contradictions, and trying to rationalize these is the game.
order i would recommend the stories:
10%+ and its addendum. the first nofna comic made, which holds your hand a little more than the others about the setting. read the glossary with this story. as the first story, there is a lot of passion and youth put into the art, making it the prettiest story by far.
emancipation. the first story arc, chronologically. i would recommend it first if 10%+ didn't look so much better.
secretary prime. print-only version of secretary. displays the message of secretary in a more cohesive way than the original as it does not try to end with the narrator going insane.
syconium. bizarre, but memorable and compelling.
the original secretary and its addendum. you are now sufficiently primed to tolerate the strange and esoteric nature of secretary. the addendum is very enjoyable, but the best part of it is only in the printed version; the electronic version doesn't have it.
solar system. worth reading. ONCE.
fruit. it isn't a comic. it's just prose. the story is enjoyable.
wild style and lycosa are not worth reading, but if you want to read them, that would go here.
rotary is a work-in-progress. if it were finished, i'd probably place it after syconium.

a longtime fascination of mine is the "fangame soundtrack" and other similar media. When you think of fan music, you tend to think of remixes or "with lyrics" songs or things like that, but my fascination is in the audio equivalent of canon-compliant fanfiction, and you can really only get that in very specific ways, like through the process of making a fangame.
Let me try to explain what I'm talking about and what I find appealing about it.
So a game franchise typically has an established musical identity in some way. There's a combination of preferred genres, tropes, repeated narrative patterns, motifs and so on that you get a sense of when playing the games enough. Using Mario as an example, it's pretty standard for your average Mario game to have a grass area, an underground area, a desert area, a castle, and probably 2 boss themes. You can go more specific, like how the grass area is always composed in C major, the music is written to be bouncy, light and jazzy until you get to the castle, and so on.
And once you recognize all of this you can use this knowledge to make a brand new soundtrack - original music - which has the same musical identity as the franchise you're working with. In effect, you're replicating the experience of writing an official soundtrack for a real Mario/whatever game.
And that's what fascinates me. In listening to a fangame soundtrack, I am able to catch a glimpse of what the artist is getting out of the source material. How much do they deviate from the canon? Is it deliberate? Does it work? Should Nintendo Hire This Man? and so on.
Famously, the two fangames Sonic Before The Sequel and Sonic After the Sequel are known for having a cohesive musical identity that fits the canon of the Sonic franchise while also doing its own distinct thing. They have about 5 and a half hours of music between them.
I was following the "Ace Attorney Investigations 3 soundtrack" as it developed. The artist Broocevelt skipped the middleman entirely and made a whole new soundtrack without waiting for a fangame to build around it. If you're a fan of Ace Attorney, you're probably familiar with its musical structure, and Broocevelt did a lot more than just understand that structure - she mastered it, and crafted music that so effectively utilized the narrative tools that the AA soundtracks use that it's easy to imagine a game going along to these songs.
It's the idea of creating original media that coheres with the work of the media it's based on. Media that emulates the spirit of its source as closely as possible while still being new.
