Talia found Yasmin's hide out only two days after the bomb.

It wasn't easy. Yasmin had hidden herself well - her monthly reports had never mentioned an acquaintanceship with Vladimir Masters, the absolute gall of that girl - in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin. She bypassed the few security measures with ease, eventually finding her daughter sitting at a kitchen table, hyperventilating.

"What happened?" Talia's voice was cold and demanding.

"The-" Yasmin gasped before stealing herself. "The Fentons are dead."

"I know the Fentons are dead." Talia circled the girl. "One split navel to throat, the other strangled. What. Happened?"

"The Fentons discovered their son was a Meta. Specifically, they thought he had been replaced with the extradimentional species they study." She took a deep breath. "By the time I had discovered their actions, Daniel was... dissected on a table."

Talia closed her eyes. She knew from Yasmin's reports that she'd been acting as the Fenton child's primary caretaker since her adoption and a fondness had developed. "Yasmin-"

"Don't, Mother." She snapped. "Don't act like this is anything less than a tragedy."

"I know-"

"He was a child-"

"Everything's been taken care of," Talia said. "As far as the authorities are concerned, Jasmine Fenton died in that explosion you caused. You need to return now-"

"No!" Yasmin bolted to her feet, glaring at Talia. "He's dead, Mother! An innocent child, the child I raised as my own, is dead because I couldn't protect him! Don't you dare try to sweep this under the rug like... like Danny was something shameful! I'm not leaving! I have to-"

Time Out.

Yasmin shut her mouth mid-sentence, giving Talia time to convince her off her self-destructive path.

"What happened to Daniel is a tragedy, Yasmin. But wallowing in grief and what-ifs only leads to further pain." Talia sighed. "The Fentons and the research you were so fascinated with are gone now. You made sure of that. It's time for you to return home and put that knowledge to use."

Yasmin stared down at her hands. Odd that Talia hadn't noticed, but Yasmin's hands cradled a small, dark blue jewel, polished into a smooth, oblong oval. It glittered under the candlelight, like stars in the sky.

Yasmin swallowed the rock and spoke, refusing to acknowledge what she'd just done. "You are right, Mother. The time of Jasmine Fenton is gone now." She stared straight at Talia, no trace of fear in her gaze. For a moment, Talia wondered where her child had gone. Yasmin never met her eyes unless prompted to when she was growing up. Now she was met with a younger version of herself with cheap dyed-red hair, with the same level of determination that made Talia the Right Hand of the Demon Head. "I will mourn for Danny... on my own time. For now, what is my mission?"

Talia studied her daughter. There was a reason why she'd hidden the girl so far out of the way of her Father and her son. Yasmin was a strong fighter, but had her father's heart, despite her willingness to kill. She'd always reminded Talia of a bodyguard rather than an assassin, but Yasmin wanted to go her own way, wanted to study everything. For years, Talia had indulged her daughter, but now it was time for her to return to the fold.

"For the next month, you will be training to remove any weakness the Fentons may have left in you. After that, you will be guarding an ally for me."

"Which ally?"

"A boy a few years older than you, a son of the Bat." Yasmin didn't react to the mention of her father. Good. "His mind is infirm, but by the time you finish your training, he will be ready to strike a blow against Gotham. You will act as his guard during his training and act as my spy while he's in Gotham. Do you understand?"

For a moment, Yasmin's hand brushed her stomach before she forced her fists to her sides. "Yes, Mother. I will do as you ask."

So Dan knows that there’s heroes that have gone back in time, he’s aware of that fact. But he doesn’t exactly care and has more important things to worry about. Like the fact that Danny and Ellie are now three years old, right when he’s moving, though maybe that’s a blessing in disguise seeing as the GIW are searching for them in Amity.

But still, he has more important things to worry about than the speedster vibrating five feet away from him. Like making sure Ellie and Danny are alright to visit (ugh) Peepaw Clocky while he goes to work.

Ms. Mercy is not messing around, which he appreciates in a workspace, but he has to wait for another opening in the daycare before he can bring his, as far as everyone else is aware, siblings who he got emergency custody of.

What with how Jazz is interning in Gotham, they figured Metropolis would be safer. Now if the speedster would stop following him, he would really appreciate it. He’s literally just an intern under Ms Mercy as an assistant, not even one of the scientists, and it’s not like his timeline of the end of the world exists anymore!

Danny Fenton dies and yet it feels as though he had finally woke up. He dies and yet he doesn’t, a star collapsing into a black hole only to form a galaxy. He dies and he lives, teetering the edge, never more one than the other.

He lives and yet tastes the ashes of a supernova. He lives yet feels the call of the abyss, the stars calling, calling, always calling.

He lives, yet he dies, the echoing cries of the end of it all ringing through his ears. Danny lives, yet he doesn’t, only one world in a cosmos that beckons.

Danny dies at fourteen.

Blood like glittering starlight dances down his hands, body colder than anything on this world yet hotter than the sun. Spilled cosmos that stains the mortal realm, begging to leave the confines of the ground, to fly amongst the sky, higher than any cloud.

Danny dies at fourteen.

Every breath in is the birth of another realm, presence tickling at the edge of his mind. Every exhale a death, a blackhole swallowing yet another world. Dust and ash catch in the back of his throat, crystals of frost glistening at his lashes.

She's alive. He has to keep reminding himself of that. Has to soothe his racing core whenever he sees her falter in her steps. Ren knows Pyrrha is strong, knows she can recover from this. But his own innate instincts want him to fret over her and kill any who look at her and-- Ren is more human than grimm. Has to remember that.

He only lets those possessive, fiercely protective grimmling instincts take over in the dark of night, when he can safely curl his tail around Pyrrha and put his head on her chest to listen to her heart to remind him it still beats. When his eyes look just a touch more red than pink, when his claws rest on the groups blanket Like tonight, where his frame curls up against her and his head carefully rests in it's usual place while trying not to disturb Jaune himself on the other side.

Ren worries a bit more than usual though when Pyrrha's frame shifts to accommodate them both. He can't help it, she needed rest and he might have bothered her-

"Sorry, didn't mean to wake you up."

Sleeping amongst her teammates tended to quell nightmares of Beacon before they started. Jaune, Nora, Ren- their presence was soothing, never failing to bring a sense of security and home. But neither that comfort nor her aura could damper the lingering pain from her healing wounds. Pyrrha found herself shuffling slightly as she woke, a jolt of pain from her chest registering before the gentle pressure to the side of it, Ren's head no doubt.

"Mm, you didn't wake me, it's alright." Pyrrha starts, her voice thick with sleep. She doesn't want to admit that pain did, doesn't want to worry her teammate. Gods, she's put them through enough, the three of them having to watch her slow recovery from wounds that should have taken her life. Instead, she draws even breaths, focusing on the simple in and out motion than the flare up of pain that had woken her before turning slightly to look at Ren. "Are you okayt? It's bound to be late."
