Prompt 80
So Dan knows that there’s heroes that have gone back in time, he’s aware of that fact. But he doesn’t exactly care and has more important things to worry about. Like the fact that Danny and Ellie are now three years old, right when he’s moving, though maybe that’s a blessing in disguise seeing as the GIW are searching for them in Amity.
But still, he has more important things to worry about than the speedster vibrating five feet away from him. Like making sure Ellie and Danny are alright to visit (ugh) Peepaw Clocky while he goes to work.
Ms. Mercy is not messing around, which he appreciates in a workspace, but he has to wait for another opening in the daycare before he can bring his, as far as everyone else is aware, siblings who he got emergency custody of.
What with how Jazz is interning in Gotham, they figured Metropolis would be safer. Now if the speedster would stop following him, he would really appreciate it. He’s literally just an intern under Ms Mercy as an assistant, not even one of the scientists, and it’s not like his timeline of the end of the world exists anymore!

✦ love poem ✦
Tumblr media Tumblr media
✦ Pairing: dad!choi san x pregnant!chubby!fem!reader w/ appearances by ot8
✦ Genre: fluff/light angst
✦ Summary: Being pregnant during the holidays has been hectic. Especially for your fiance San whose tight work schedule has him under pressure. But when his best friend Hwa steps in to ease the burden on him by being there for you, it creates more jealousy than Christmas cheer.
✦ Word Count: 3.5k-ish
✦ Warnings: pregnant reader, occasionally strong language, some quick lusting after San while he's in the shower (nothing graphic), & that's all.
✦ A/N: I really wanted to write something sweet with like the tiniest bit of angst so there's nothing heavy here. It's mostly just lovey dovey shit cause, I mean, I'm a lover girl. What can I say?
Tumblr media
Standing at the entrance of the tunnel of lights, you watch in awe as thousands of tiny bulbs twinkle to the tune of the Christmas music that coasts along the night air. Every year the local zoo holds a massive festival of lights to celebrate the holiday season. During your first year here San had plans to take you to opening night but, with his schedule being as unpredictable as it is, that never did happen. This year though, he promised that nothing would stop you from experiencing this together and he meant it.
As much as San and the rest of the boys hyped this place up to you, nothing could’ve prepared you for how breathtaking it is in person. It’s magical. The carnival rides, the little Christmas themed games, the stalls selling some of the best food you ever tasted. And the displays. They’re pure art. It may be too cold for the animals to be out but the elaborate light sculptures of them make up for it tenfold. Children race through the light tunnels while couples cuddle up in line for hot cocoa. If ever “Winter Wonderland” were a place this would have to be it.
“Stop running!” Hongjoong yells from behind you. Seconds later Mingi and Jongho dart past you in a blur. You turn in time to see the look of defeat on Hongjoong’s face as he approaches with the others close behind. “I swear sometimes they act like children,” he groans, “Take it from me. Don’t have kids. It’s not worth it.” Popping on a pair of knit gloves, Yunho gestures towards the pregnant belly rounding out your thick winter coat. “I think that advice is about 7 months too late.”
Hongjoong gasps in horror, “Oh. I mean, you know, except that one. I’m sure it’ll be a cute little thing.” You can only giggle at how flustered any mention of your pregnancy gets him. Hongjoong hasn’t quite grasped that San’s about to be someone’s dad. Even as your belly has grown, he’s managed to periodically forget what’s happening but he’s trying to be supportive and it’s sweet. Seonghwa pats you softly on the belly, laying his head on your shoulder, “Pay him no mind. She’ll be a cute little baby. Not a thing. I mean, look at her mom”
"Oh, Hwa, you’re too sweet” you blush, patting him on the cheek. “The baby! I think it kicked!” He’s right. You felt it. It’s about that time of night after all. The moment she could start kicking she did. Especially around bedtime. Suddenly they’re all gathered close around you staring at your stomach as if the baby will burst out at this very moment like some alien spawn. Woo kneels down in front of you, resting his hand behind Hwa’s. “Aah!” he squeals, “She’s saying hi to her uncles. Hi, baby!”
By now Mingi and Jongho have circled back, stopping dead in their tracks to see what all the fuss is about. “What’s going on?” Jongho asks, Mingi’s hat clenched in his hand. Mingi snatches his hat back, peering over Jongho’s shoulder, “It’s not happening is it?” Seeing the panic in his eyes, you immediately jump to calm him down, “Not yet. She’s kicking up a fuss. That’s all.” “So much like her dad already” Yeosang teases, just as San appears to push them aside. “Hands off!” he orders, shooing them away, “I go to the bathroom for two seconds and you’re already crowding my kid.”
The others just laugh, not expecting to witness such a perfect example of Yeosang’s statement so soon. “You okay? Everything okay?” he asks, fixing the scarf around your next and popping your hood over your head. “Baby, it’s not that cold.” “Temperature’s supposed to drop 5 degrees in the next half hour. Gotta stay toasty, honey.” San’s always been attentive, doing everything he could to make sure you were taken care of but the pregnancy has kicked it into overdrive.
Taking his hands, you give him a warm peck on the lips and flash a smile that soothes his worries. “I’m okay, Sannie. I promise. Now let’s go.” The tunnel’s far more mesmerizing from the inside than it is simply looking in. It feels like a portal to a different world, replacing the darkness of the night sky with constellations of red and green that guide you to the next section of the zoo. Each area has one unique to the space you’re about to step into.
A tunnel of mistletoe and vines for the flower garden. One built like a giant sleigh for the reindeer village. And that’s not even half of it. How anyone can make it through this place in one night is beyond you. Then again, not everyone is toting another human around in their belly. By the time you make it through the ice tunnel into the replica North Pole, your feet are killing you but you try to hold it together.
Between doctor’s appointments, work, redecorating the apartment, and a million other things that need to be done before the baby arrives, there’s been zero time to do anything fun. Calling it quits this early feels wrong. Especially since San's been so stressed lately. Spending time with the guys seems to be just the thing he needed to shake some of that off.
“How many more lights do we have to see before we’ve seen enough?” Mingi whines, dragging his feet. Alright, so maybe someone else is as over it as you are. Yunho slaps Mingi on the back, taking a deep breath, “Have some holiday cheer! We’re in such a beautiful place. Where else would you rather be?” “Somewhere warm! With food!” Woo adds, backing Mingi up. Jongho jumps it, never one to miss the opportunity, “And drinks! When’s the last time we all had drinks together?”
Hongjoong crosses his arms, throwing them some wicked side eye, until he realizes, “Actually it has been a while since we went out for drinks.” Woo wraps his arms around Yeosang, determined to rope him into this plan, “You in? Say yes. Say yes!” “Yeah, sure fine, whatever” Yeosang laughs, shrugging him off. Hwa clears his throat, preparing to be the bearer of bad news, “Well it’s not just us you guys. There’s kinda a 10th person here now.”
For a fleeting moment, you were able to detect some excitement on San’s face and Hwa’s words wipe it away in an instant. Everyone falls silent, not quite sure what to do with the awkwardness of the moment. “Hey,” you say, lovingly rubbing San’s chest, “Why don’t you go get those drinks?” “What? No. I’m not leaving you. We said we’d do this.” “We did and I’ve had the best time but, honestly, my feet hurt like shit.” “Then I’ll take you home and run some water so you can soak your feet” San insists, guiding you out of the way of an approaching crowd.
“San, please, for the love of god, go” you beg, looking to his friends for support. “I’ll take her home!” Hwa volunteers, “I’m not really up for drinking anyway.” San glares skeptically back and forth between the two of you. He wants to protest but he gets the sense that arguing with you is a losing battle and he’s right. “Fine” he relents, “But text me when you get home. Love you.” The way you light up when he finally gives in is one of the infinite reasons why he loves you the way that he does. “I will. Love you too.” “Love you three!” “Love you four!” you say, kissing him before Jongho begins to drag him in the other direction. “We’re not doing this all night! Let’s go!”
Parting ways is a sea of goodbyes and bickering that continues until you lose sight of the rest of the group. Hooking his arm into yours, Hwa directs you towards a festive snack stand not too far away. “Wanna eat like trash before we go home?” he offers with a mischievous grin, knowing San would murder him if he knew. You nod, playfully tearing up, “I thought you’d never ask.”
Tumblr media
“Baby, have you seen my keys?” you shout from the bedroom, digging through your purse for the third time. “Huh?” San calls back, the water rushing from the shower making it impossible to hear you. Shuffling down the hall, you pop your head into the bathroom. “I was asking if you’d seen my keys.” San peeks from behind the shower curtain, shampoo bubbles dripping down his sculpted cheekbones. In an instant, you forget all about your keys. What else could possibly matter when San’s standing here dripping wet, every muscle in his defined chest glistening like gold. Snap out of it. This is how you got pregnant in the first place.
“I saw them by the stove I think.” “Thanks, ya cutie” you wink, ready to skip off to find them. “Wait,” he says before you can make it more than a step and a half away, “You’re all dressed up. Where are you going?” Scanning your outfit, you don’t see anything particularly “dressed up” about what you’re wearing. Some knit overalls with a cozy sweater underneath and your favorite boots are far from red carpet ready in your mind. “Hwa’s taking me shopping for decorations. Don’t you remember?” San frowns, only vaguely remembering the conversation, “Why didn’t you ask me?” “I did but you said you were busy today so Hwa offered to take me.”
Your phone dings in your pocket. You fish it out and find a text message from Hwa telling you he’s outside. “Ooh, speak of the devil. Gotta run.” Carefully, you make your way across the bathroom floor, giving him a kiss that you struggle to keep innocent with the knowledge of what’s behind the curtain. “Have fun and tell Joong I said hi! I’ll bring you back something!” you sing and you’re off to find your keys. San’s frozen in place, unable to bring himself to move an inch. Even after he’s heard the apartment door close, it takes him a second to get back to his shower.
It’s been two weeks since the light festival and you’ve seen Hwa every few days since. Every time San’s too busy to do something Hwa’s right there to help. When did he become so available? You always come home so happy too. Were you that happy with him? Letting the water wash over his head, he tries to shake away his jealous thoughts.
You moved here to be with him and, in that time, the only friends you’d made were his. Hwa’s just being a good friend to the both of you, helping when San’s unable to. Thinking that it's anything else is ridiculous. All of the long hours spent working must be getting to him. Hwa would never...
You would never...
Neither of you would...
Right? Right?
Tumblr media
Pregnancy hormones. They’re the one thing no one can ever quite prepare you for. One minute you’re hanging ornaments on the tree, humming along to your music in a cozy pair of pajamas. The next you’re crying on the kitchen floor, stuffing your mouth with the cookies you baked for the holiday party tomorrow.
It’s nearly midnight and everything makes you emotional. The lights on the tree are too bright, your feet feel swollen, the cookies aren’t as sweet as you'd like, and suddenly you can’t stand the song that’s playing despite it being one of your favorites. You want everything off but then the house would be quiet and empty. You’d be reminded that you’re all alone until San comes home tomorrow and cry even harder.
You pull out your phone to call him but when you see the time you decide not to. His flight is in a few hours and he’s already told you what a long day he had. You’d hate to wake him up, to burden him any more than you feel you already have.  Just as you’re about to put your phone down it lights up. A text from Seonghwa. Some adorable video of a cat dressed up as one of Santa’s elves.
The poor thing looks miserable running around in that costume but it makes you laugh enough to stop you from spiraling. Taking a deep breath, you wipe away the tears blurring your vision and shoot a text back.
You: Thanks. I really needed that.
Hwa: Why? Something wrong?
You: I’m having a crying thing. Kinda sad tonight.
Hwa: Need some company?
Without thinking, you type out the words “You don’t have to—” before erasing them and typing out something new. "Sure!"
It takes him no time at all to reach you. The streets are empty this time of night and he only lives a half hour away. Even if he lived two hours away—three hours away—he’d drive every single one of them to come support you. When you became someone special to San, you became someone special to him too. He’s never seen San more serious about anything than he's been about you and this baby. As much as he wishes that San would get out of his head a bit more, it’s cute to see him love something so much.
“Anybody home?” Hwa whispers, his eyes narrowing when he notices that your front door is cracked. “Come in” you sob from the couch, blowing your nose for what feels like the 1000th time since you sent that last text. Hwa follows a trail of discarded tissues to find you curled up on the couch, as curled as you can be this far along in your pregnancy. “Hey, hey, don’t cry” he coos, easing himself down onto the couch and resting your head in his lap, “Talk to me. What’s going on?”
You try to speak but you’re too short of breath to get anything out. Hwa strokes your hair, taking slow breaths in and out, “Follow me, okay? In and out.” You shake your head in protest. The whole room is closing in around you. You can’t do it. “Just try it. For me. Please” he begs so sweetly that you can’t refuse. Deep breath in, long breath out. The same way that they taught you in those birthing classes you went to. “This is total bullshit” you’d whispered to San at one point during the class but it turns out it isn’t bullshit at all.
After a few seconds, the tightness in your chest eases and the room begins to open up. The world isn’t falling apart anymore. You’re safe. Hwa sits with you in silence as your breathing quiets, dabbing away any rogue tears that drip down your cheeks. “Is San happy with me?” you ask, catching him off guard, “Is this too much for him, do you think?” Hwa laughs, knowing how extremely far from the truth both of those questions are. “Hwa, it’s not funny! I’m serious!” “I’m sorry! I’m not trying to make fun of you, it’s just—if you make him happy or not, that’s not a question. He’s crazy about you.”
Grabbing the small blanket folded over the back of the couch, he opens it up and tucks you in with it. “None of this is too much,” he swears, “You and her…” Hwa pokes your belly, making you giggle. “You guys are everything he’s ever wanted. He pushes himself so much because he wants to be perfect for you.” You yawn, Hwa’s presence and the warm blanket activating the exhaustion you’ve been fighting. “But he’s already perfect to me. Why can’t he see that?” “Mmm, it’s really hard sometimes to see ourselves the way other people do but he’ll come around. I promise.”
If there’s one similarity you’ve come to find between San and Hwa it’s how important promises are to them. If Hwa says he’ll come around then he will. They’d been friends for ages before you came into the picture. They’ve gone through more together than you can imagine. If Hwa's confident about it, then you have to believe it too. You drift off to sleep, your brain still spinning but much quieter now, trusting that everything will be just fine.
Right? Right?
Tumblr media
“Listen to yourself. You sound crazy!” Hwa snaps, trying his hardest not to raise his voice in the midst of his anger. San tosses his bags to the floor and they hit with a thud that shakes you from your sleep. “I come home to you cuddled up on the couch with her and I’m crazy?” “She texted me last night that she was crying. What was I supposed to do?” “Tell me! And let me take care of her! She’s not yours so stop treating her like she is!”
San’s jaw clenches, the jealousy he’s been harboring turning into true pain for the first time. He thought he had this under control. Those hours of talking with Woo about how stupid his suspicions were had chased off his insecurities. But coming in, tired and cranky from his flight, to see you so peacefully cuddled against Hwa had undone all of it. He wanted to kill him and the knowledge that he was the first one you reached for when you were hurting only adds fuel to the fire currently burning his self control to ash.
“Sannie?” you squeak, stretching out your cramped limbs, “What’s going on?” You sit up, eyes still squinted, to see what all of the fuss is about. Hwa hangs his head, unable to face you, “I think I should go. If you need me I’m here for both of you.” “Wait, no!” you say, doing your best to roll off of the couch and stop him but by the time you’re on your feet he’s gone. Turning your attention to San, you immediately sense his anger. Something happened and whatever it was has him fuming.
“Baby, what happened? You can talk to—” “Is there something going on between you two?” “What?” you laugh, placing your hands on your lower back for support. You keep laughing but the sharpness of his expression never changes. He’s actually waiting for an answer. “Oh god, you’re serious. You’re actually asking me if I’m fucking Seonghwa.” “I didn’t say that.” “But that’s what you’re saying. That’s what you think of me.”
You catch yourself wanting to cry again, only this time it isn’t because of the pregnancy hormones. It’s because you waited for days to see the man you love only to be accused of something like this. San can almost see the moment your heart breaks, making him regret his doubts in an instant. “He’s been helping me because I was worried about you burning yourself out. That’s it. I wouldn’t do that to you.” Your bottom lip quivers and the tears are rushing from your eyes again. “Fuck, I’m so tired of crying” you huff, flopping back down onto the couch.
San’s at your side quicker than he’s ever been, his arms wrapped around you like he never wants to let go. “I’m sorry! Please don’t cry. I didn’t mean it. I know you’d never do that.” “Then why were you two arguing? Why even ask me?” “Because I’m afraid” he admits, leaving you both shocked at his admission. He’s scared, terrified, so much that it keeps him up at night. “I’m afraid I’m not good enough to be what you need me to be and it was easier to be jealous than to admit that.”
You’re frustrated enough that you could slap him but your body feels so at home in his embrace that you can’t pull away. “You’re good enough for me…for us, San. You have to believe me when I say that.” “Then why do you call him when you’re crying and not me?” “Because,” you sigh, “I’m afraid too. I don’t want to lean on you too much.” “What? Lean on me too much?” he asks, almost offended, “Lean on me all you want. What do you think I work out for?”
You giggle when you feel his muscles flex against you, “San, be serious!” “I am! Lean on me, please. We’re a team. I need you to trust me to be here.” You stare at him, your eyes beautiful enough to hypnotize him even when they’re clouded with tears. “You have to trust me to be here too, you know?” San kisses your forehead, one hand gently massaging your back, “I trust you, baby.” Closing your eyes a tingly feeling washes over you. Is it love? The Christmas spirit? The tingling is chased by a contraction stronger than any period cramp you’ve ever felt.
“The baby’s coming!” you shout, gripping your stomach. San jumps back in shock as if he didn’t know you were pregnant to begin with. “Are you sure?” “You said you trust me!” “I do! I do! Hold on!” Leaning you back on the couch, San darts around the apartment collecting all of the things he’s prepared over the last few months to make you comfortable when this happens. A bag packed with clothes for you and your favorite slippers. Phone chargers, baby wipes, stuffed animals, the snacks you love. The list is endless.
“I’ll pull the car up and come back for you, okay?” he says, propping your feet up on the coffee table as he tries to put your coat on. “Just get the car. I’m okay.” “You sure?” “I’m sure and San,” you say, grabbing his arm. “Yeah?” “You’re gonna be a great dad. The best ever.” San can’t fight the smile that spreads across his face or the slight reddening of his cheeks. You believe in him, you truly do, and for the first time, he does too.

Summary: You had no intentions of joining Stark's party, considering that your ex had just dumped you two days ago and he was already announcing his new relationship. And then along came Loki, offering to be your date for the night…
Pairing: Loki x Reader
Word Count: 4.8k
Warnings: language (yeah no, not sorry, Rogers); little bit of steam at the end; reader w/ insecurities [let me know if i missed anything!]
Things to be aware of: Steve is the ex; Nat & Wanda offering violence to avenge their bestie; borderline dangerous dancing stunts (don't try this at home, kids); coworkers/teammates to lovers
Tumblr media
"Babes, stop fussing over the dress. You look hot. It's giving revenge dress if I do say so myself. Everyone covering the event will take one look at you and see without a doubt in their mind that you won this break up. Especially considering how hot your dates are."
Natasha nudged your shoulder playfully, probably in hopes of wiping the scowl off of the reflection staring back at you as you adjusted the strap of your midnight blue mermaid dress, making sure everything was secure and no unflattering angles were even remotely feasible.
Then again you could barely walk properly in the damn thing, so there really wasn't much room for awkward and unflattering, considering that you'd be able to do little more than stand and pose. You'd wanted to trade in the dress for something that gave you a bit more breathing room considering that the man that chose -- well, he'd argue strongly encouraged -- the dress was no longer your date for the night, but your choices would be stiflingly limited with how close you'd have been cutting it if you'd returned it.
Two days to break up, pack up, move your things out of his apartment in the compound, move back into your own apartment, clean up said apartment to make it at least livable once again, cry a bit, and then ready yourself for this charity ball? There wasn't time to return the dress that Steve chose, let alone pick out a new one. Even with the help of both Nat and Wanda.
"Remind me to thank Bucky and Vision for letting me steal you two away tonight?"
"Don't even worry about it. But maybe you could talk to Bucky later and tell him that there isn't even a shred of this that's his fault? He somehow got it into his head that because Steve's his best friend he should have sensed something. Should've told me. Or directly told you. He's been feeling like shit over this whole thing since I came home two days ago and told him I had to help you clean out your stuff from Rogers' apartment and move back into your old one."
Just as you were about to reassure the Russian spy that you would talk to her husband the second you got the chance to when there were no nosy reporters lurking around corners or planting microphones around the event to capture their next juicy story, Wanda walked into the room, her expression colored with a mix of pity and irritation.
"Well he might feel a hell of a lot worse now that he's seeing in real time what his best buddy's been doing since the breakup." Nausea began to swirl in your stomach as they each took one of your hands and the sorceress led you to the conference hall that had been fully decked out for tonight's event. The crowd had gathered around the dance floor, phones out and whispering amongst one another as they looked on the couple in the center.
"Oh you've got to be fucking shitting me," Nat bellowed in outrage, her hand leaving yours and wrapping around your waist to ensure you were still standing straight. "You even asked him point blank about her and he brushed you off--"
"Don't worry about her, Cookie, I'm just making sure she has the best training available to her," you seethed, feeling yourself shaking in your friend's hold as you repeated Steve's words to you just last week. "Babes, I don't think I even wanna go in there. I can already see the fucking headlines. Heartbroken Avenger Y/N Y/L/N seeks the comfort of her girlfriends' company as former lover Captain America debuts his new relationship with SHIELD Agent Ava WhatsHerFace. This isn't worth it. You two go. Be with your husbands. I'm going home."
"Are you sure?" Wanda squeezed your other hand, her free arm already radiating her signature red magic. "I can trip her and make them fall flat on their asses, just say the word."
It took you a great deal to not take her up on her offer, instead opting to just squeeze her hand back before letting go, maneuvering yourself out of their hold. "I'm sure. No tripping anybody, you two. Last thing we need is the internet speculating on which sides the Avengers are taking in what they're gonna try and spin as the breakup that shocked the world, and then making these idiotic theories about how we might cause a reiteration of Germany right here in the Big Apple."
"Okay what if I just poisoned her drink no one would know it was me--"
"Babes, everyone would know it was you," you cut off the spy. "No poison. No tripping. Not even a backhanded compliment. If you really can't stand the sight of her then walk away. Otherwise Pepper will kill us over making a scene over this and I'm not even joining the damn party but she'll drag me in anyway because she's gonna figure out that you two did what you did because of me."
"You're a better woman than that little shit ever deserved," Wanda grumbled, pulling you into a quick embrace. "We'll see you after the party then? Because no way in hell are you sleeping alone tonight."
"After," you confirmed, already walking away from the two as they walked toward the bar to where Bucky and Vision were undoubtedly standing and waiting patiently for them.
You'd walked down a good few feet down the hall when a voice halted you.
"Y/N?" You inwardly groaned at the sound of Loki calling out to you. The absolute last thing you needed was the member of the team who was undoubtedly and objectively the most unfairly breathtakingly beautiful person in all of New York -- hell, in all of the world as far as you were concerned -- seeing you in the dejected state you were in.
You did your best to plaster on a half-smile as you turned to face the god. "Hey, Mischief." You threw him a cursory glance, your heart skipping a good few beats when you registered his bespoke Burnham green tuxedo forming to his sculpted body like a well-worn leather glove. "You look great."
"You're breathtaking," he sighed, walking the rest of the distance and stopping a few steps in front of you. "As you always are." He gave you a curt smile, his fingers visibly twitching in your direction as he kept his hands to his sides. "Are you not joining the gala?"
"Thinking I might sit this one out, actually," you murmured, grimacing at just how miserable you sounded to your own ears. "Considering it doing Pepper a solid and making sure that tonight's all about whatever cause Stark decided to back this time around and not about the untimely demise of me and Rogers. The last thing we need is me becoming the center of attention because the media published headlines calling me the Heartbroken Avenger because I walked in there with my friends while my ex debuts his shiny new toy." You took an awkward step back, giving him an even more inelegant wave his way. "You have fun, though, Mischief."
He took your hand in his as you were turning away from him. "What if I escorted you?" Something with his soft spoken tone, partnered with the way his thumb was stroking the back of your hand, had you struggling to take your next breath. "We could walk in together, and it wouldn't cross anybody's mind to call you heartbroken or lonely or anything of the sort."
You couldn't help but scoff at his offer. "I'm not sure you wanna take on the media vultures who'll write about you getting Captain America's sloppy seconds. Hell, if I walk in there with you they'll think you probably did it out of pity. People already paint me as someone they don't think could have pulled the likes of Steve, but if we walk in there together you'll never hear the end of how charitable you were to--"
"Stop that," he cut you off, his tone sibilant and terse as if he was slicing through your self-pity party for one. "Rogers is an imbecile, he always has been. To have held painite in his uncouth hands and traded it in for mere rubble." He took a step closer to you, making you struggle to hide the shudder than ran through you when you could practically feel the warmth of his body radiating from him. "To walk into that room with you would not be an act of charity, darling. It would be an honor. A privilege."
"Okay come on that's enough--"
"How I wish you could see yourself the way I do," he murmured, his free hand lightly grasping your chin and making it impossible to turn your gaze from him. "Come with me. We'll share a dance and afterward if you still wish to leave then we will."
"Are you insane?" you blurted out, shaking your head at how absurd his offer was. "If you walk in with me and you leave with me, you're gonna find out real quick that people actually can hate me more than they did when I was dating Steve, because now I'm preventing you from getting all the pretty girls' numbers in the party. There are supermodels in there, Mischief. Pretty sure there're some princesses, too. They came here for you."
"Then they will leave disappointed," he answered back, the corner of his mouth pulling in a smirk as he watched your brows knit together in clear confusion. "As for attaining the contact information of, how did you phrase it again? Pretty girls? I already have that of the most beguiling woman who would be in that gala, I truly need no more." He let go of your hand to reach for his phone and tap away at it to call whoever he was referring to.
A few seconds later your little purse began to ring, making you give him a pointed stare. "Smooth." Your phone stopped ringing as soon as he put his away, finding yourself fighting to breathe properly once more when he placed his hand back in yours. "Fine," you huffed. "But we're not dancing, I can barely walk in this stupid thing, the dance floor would turn into a crime scene if I so much as spun wrong."
The soft chuckle that escaped his lips filled you with a weird sense of pride, knowing that even for a few short moment the usually terse god felt comfortable enough around you to seem so unguarded. He released his hold on you to hover his hands by your waist. "May I?"
You took a moment to try figuring out what he meant before answering, "I don't know what you're asking for but alright. I trust you."
His playful demeanor faltered for a moment, eyebrows knitting together and raising slightly before he placed his hands on your waist and gently guiding you to turn and facing the mirrored wall. Your breath hitched in your throat with a squeak as his gaze met yours on the reflection, bringing his face level to yours, his lips hovering just beside your ear. "Beautiful as you are in this dress, darling, you look as if you'd been forced to conform into something you're not. You were made to move freely, as gracefully and as fluidly as you move in the field."
You held your breath as you watched his magic washing over you, your dress melting away from the shoulders down and slowly being replaced with a dark emerald silk gown that stopped just below your ankles, the skirt flaring out from the waist with a slit going up to the middle of your thigh. The feel of your hair cascading down your back had you realizing that you were so caught up in the spectacle of your dress changing before your very eyes that you'd barely felt his fingers deftly taking the pins out of your hair and undoing the tightly knotted bun that borderline violently pulled at your temples.
"Hmmm…much better." You fought against the chill that ran throughout your body at the low tone of his voice reverberating in your ear. "Just one more…tiny flourish." His hand moved from your hair to rest his fingers lightly on the juncture between your neck and shoulder, a slight smile appearing on his face in the reflection when your breathing became audibly staggered as a teardrop emerald pendant hanging off a gold chain materialized around your neck. "Himmelske," he breathed out, the vision of him lightly pressing his lips to the top of your head making your pulse pound in your ears. "Shall we?"
"This is too much…" you sighed, turning around to face him and nearly stumbling over your own feet when you saw how close your faces were to one another.  "I can't possibly--"
"You can, darling." He took your hand in his again and brought it up towards his lips, pressing a soft kiss to your knuckles, all the while his eyes never leaving yours. "You look ethereal, like a goddess walking among mortals." He pressed his lips to your knuckles once more. "Min gudinne." He began to walk backwards towards the party, keeping your hands intertwined as he led you down the hall, typing something away a quick message on his phone as the music from the repurposed conference hall gradually grew louder.
Once you were mere feet away from the doors leading to the conference hall, the old-fashioned music that made you want to retch on the spot screeched to a halt, and Tony's voice boomed through the speakers.
"Alright Cap that's enough, some of us actually don't want to see our dinner a second time tonight." The crowd began to chuckle at his joking barbs toward your ex. "Why don't you and your new babydoll take a breather for a minute. Or a hundred. While I go ahead and play on a special request for…well I'll be damned…Reindeer Games."
The sound of Tony's little nickname for Loki had you growing frigid in the god's hold. "Mischief, what did you do?"
Your question went unanswered, him opting to give you a soft smile as he lifted your joint hands up to place a tender kiss to the back of your hand before leading you to the center of the dance floor, the sound of your friends' claps and cheers -- as well as a round of hearty hollers from both Bucky and Thor -- filling the room and overpowering the piano intro of "Tightrope" by Sara Bareilles playing over the speakers as soon as you came into view.
Glares tinged with thinly veiled envious rage weighed down on you like cinder blocks as the raven-haired Asgardian placed his hand on your lower back, bringing your bodies within mere inches of one another. "Everyone's staring," you wavered, trying to keep your breathing even as he began to lead you in a basic waltz around the dance floor.
"Envious, petulant mortals," he answered with a sneer, giving you a small smirk at the end. "Likely because I have the most beautiful date among them all."
"Do gods wear glasses?" you bit back, scoffing softly at his words. "Because I'm pretty sure Adriana Lima is here and--"
"I can see quite clearly, precious mortal," he cut you off, the gentle tone of his voice not once wavering. "Better than you think." He upped the pace of your steps, the smile on his face growing wider as your steps became less structured and he raised your joint hands to spin you on the spot, your dress twirling fluidly with each step before he pulled you back to him, now chest to chest as he resumed leading you in a large circle around the floor. "You seem surprised, darling."
"I usually would have stepped on your toes by now," you whispered, your breath hitching as every step you took together felt perfectly synced, a part of you heavily dreading stumbling and sending you both into a clumsy heap on the floor. Especially with the even closer proximity of your bodies to one another. "Are you doing this?" He answered you with a slight furrow of his eyebrows. "Did you enchant the dress? The necklace? My shoes?"
"I did nothing of the sort, dear Y/N," he whispered into your ear, the feel of his breath on your skin sending your heart into overdrive. "Perhaps you'd simply been with the wrong partners all your life." You faintly registered the way his hold on you tightened the slightest bit. "I wish to prove it to you. A little flourish both for our benefit and for the entertainment of our audience."
A sequence of movements was projected into your mind, each motion requiring complete trust in your partner as you climbed over his back, held up only by your joint hands and your knee braced on his shoulder as he spun on the spot. And then capped off with a dismount that had you hanging upside down and suspended as such for a few moments before righting yourself on your feet.
Tumblr media
"Do you trust me, darling?"
You didn't need to think twice about your answer. "Yes." He flashed a brilliant smile before twirling you away and out of his hold, turning his back to you and giving you a silent signal to execute the move. Within a few short moments you were propped up on his shoulder, held up by your joint hands and feeling as if you were flying as he executed each turn with visible ease.
The faces of the crowd, a mixture of pure shock and awe, said it all. No one on the team had ever placed that much trust in Loki, despite the countless times he'd undoubtedly saved any and all of you throughout your numerous missions together. And here you were giving everyone a blatant display that among all the members of the team, you probably trusted him the most.
There wasn't even the slightest tremble in your movement as you executed the dismount, briefly giving them all a face-splitting grin that nearly mirrored the blond Asgardian watching from the bar as he looked on at the spectacle you and his brother had created before turning back and facing your partner. The next moment he'd gone back to holding you and twirling you both around the dance floor with a slight flourish as you reunited.
"There you are, precious mortal," he breathed out, securing his arm around your waist and lifting you off your feet as he spun you both again, the skirt of your dress billowing from the motion and creating a perfect flourish to your steps, earning you various oohs and aahs from the audience. You assumed that the bitter hmph sounds came from your ex and Miss Ava WhatsHerFace. "I've missed seeing that smile on you. It's been months too long. How I wanted to strike at Rogers' face the moment I saw the light in you wavering."
"You saw that?" You prided yourself in concealing your insecurities and the downward spiral that your mind had taken the moment that the new recruit had been assigned to train for the Avengers, painting on a bright disposition despite the interest that Steve had taken in her and the rapidly dwindling attention he paid to you in turn.
It never occurred to you that people might be looking closer than you intended them to. Or that one of those people would be someone you'd carried feelings for ever since long before you and Rogers ever even went out on the first date. You kept on guilting yourself that you were no better than him, if you were being completely honest.
The only leg up you had over your ex was that at least you did right by him and you never acted on anything. But then again you had no reason to believe that you could; in your eyes, Loki had to reason to see you, let alone return your sentiment.
"I see you, Y/N," he murmured, bringing his hand higher up your back, leaning forward, and tilting you backward in a low dip. "I've always seen you." Your heart caught in your throat as you felt him press a soft kiss to your cheek before bringing you both back up to stand upright, a new sequence of movements projected into your mind.
Tumblr media
This time of him lifting you into the air, a hand braced on your lower back, the other wrapped around your ankle, followed by a drop that would land you safely in his arms and have the god carrying you bridal style. You could see the silent question shining in his eyes as the projected image fizzled away, awaiting your answer. "I trust you," you whispered, taking a breath as he turned you to face away from him and lifted you into the air with ease.
There wasn't a single doubt in your mind even in that split second where you were falling through the air. You knew you were safe with him. Physically at least.
Emotionally it felt like he was leading you to the edge of a cliff, and you were all too happy to step off if it meant he'd look at you even remotely like he did throughout any point of tonight.
You landed in his arms with a soft, nearly soundless thud, once again met with appreciative applause from the room of onlookers and Tony's voice once again sounding through the speakers. "Jellybean, I take back every joke I ever made about your dancing. Now I know it wasn't you that made those moves bad and that's all I'm gonna say on that. Give it up for these two one more time, ladies and gentlemen!"
A traitorous squeak from the back of your throat slipped from your lips as the god carrying you briefly touched the tip of his nose to yours and pressed a kiss between your brows before setting you back down on your feet, taking your hand in his and lacing his fingers between yours. He led you through the dance floor that was quickly becoming crowded as a rhythmic thumping beat boomed from the sound system, placing you directly in front of him with his free arm wrapped around your midsection.
Once you'd reached the bar, crossing paths with Nat and Wanda and their respective husbands as they made their way to the dance floor, only Thor remained to greet you as you occupied two seats next to one another. "Brother, elation becomes you." Before he walked toward the buffet, handing his empty plate to one of the cleaning staff, he turned to face you. "Take care of him. Actually, take care of each other."
Your brows knitted together as you watched the blond Asgardian walk away, confusion niggling away at your brain as you turned your gaze back to Loki. "What was that--"
The rest of your sentence died on the tip of your tongue as the raven-haired god cupped your jaw, weaving his fingers through your hair, as he closed the distance between you and captured your lips in a soft kiss. You whimpered against him as he stood from his seat, framing your face with his hands as he stepped closer to you, all the while his lips never leaving yours.
He breathed your name as he pulled away, the way that he seemingly sounded almost as flustered as you were paired with the restraint so evident in his hold on you creating a heady combination that made the room spin. "He never deserved you."
Those words had your eyes snapping open, wondering if you'd heard him right. "Loki what--"
"And you should have had someone that treasured you. Worshipped you. That knew with every fiber of his being that he was the most fortunate bastard in the Nine for being the one that you shared the most intimate parts of your life with." Your heart thundered in your ears as he leaned in to kiss you again. "Someone that would proudly show whoever was around to watch that he is equally yours as you are his. Perhaps even more so."
"Are you trying to tell me that that someone is you?" The music had faded away to nothing more than a dull thumping in the background as you looked into his eyes, rife with emotions that you couldn't quite place as his hands traveled down to wrap around your waist, stepping closer to you, and leaning in to press a soft kiss to your temple.
"If you would let me," he murmured against your skin. "He was but a fool to have let you go. But if his foolishness leads to my fortune, then perhaps I could be moved to despise him a little less." He kissed a trail from your temple to your ear, making your breath hitch again as his thumb stroked at your side and tracing the faint lines of your ribcage while he whispered a deliciously tempting offer. "Leave with me. Let me be the fortunate wretch that gets to take you home. That gets to worship you, to pleasure you. Even if only for tonight, let me make you equally mine as I am yours. As I have always been yours."
His offer alone already had you trembling in anticipation for what he could possibly have in store for you the moment you gave him your answer. "I have to find Nat and Wanda," you blurted out, making a motion to step off of your seat.
"Y/N please--"
"They offered to stop by my apartment after the party," you explained, mustering the courage to press a quick kiss to his lips when you watched in disbelief as a touch of desperation colored his features. "They wanted to make sure I wasn't going to sleep alone tonight. I have to tell them I have other plans."
A brilliant smile stretched across his face as he pulled you in for another kiss, both of you moaning into each other's mouths as he pulled you against him, lifting you out of your seat and setting you back down on your feet, holding you in his arms the same way he did a few moments ago as you weaved your way through the crowd.
It didn't take you long to find the two women in question, tapping both of them on their shoulders to call their attention. "Rain check on the sleepover?" you shouted over the music.
Wanda took one look at how Loki was holding you and eyed Nat with a smirk. "You got a better offer, I see. Go, babes. We just wanted to make sure you didn't sleep alone tonight."
"Now we gotta make sure you stay awake at the mission brief in the morning because you won't be sleeping at all," Nat capped off with a raise of her eyebrow. She eyed the god holding you with a pointed glare. "If you hurt her--"
"I wouldn't dream of it, Romanoff," he cut her off. "Unlike some people in our non-immediate company, I have every intention of holding on to painite with every ounce of my strength."
Your brows once again knitted together as your friends began to squeal and giggle while you walked away with the god, the alcohol clearly beginning to get to them. "Okay I have to ask. What exactly is painite? You've…said that twice tonight," you prodded, looking up at him only to be met with a tender smile and an intensity burning in his eyes that nearly made you fall over.
"It is the rarest, most precious gemstone on this planet. Perhaps in all the realms," he answered, turning you in his arms as soon as you stepped foot into the corridor and walking you backwards until your back was flush against the wall. "And despite its crimson hue I would still say undoubtedly the most beautiful." You shuddered under his gaze as he trailed a finger from the center of your neck down your torso until he reached your waist and pulled you to him for a fleeting but heated kiss. "That is how I see you. Rare. Precious. And undoubtedly the most beautiful creature I will ever lay my eyes on."
The next moment your surroundings were awash with a wave of his green magic, and you were inside his apartment, your moans piercing the quiet darkness as his lips latched on to your neck and you felt his hands working to divest you of your dress. His next words, rasped against your skin, already had your legs shaking without him having even begun to touch you yet.
"Mine. Finally mine."

A/N: Omg I've finally finished it 😩 And he's precious your honor 🥹 I've honestly had this idea bouncing around in my head for so many days now that I'm so happy that it's finally out for y'all to read and (hopefully) enjoy.
There is a plan for a part 2 of this but it's literally all smut and it's a long ways away because I have every intention to get into 'relinquish the crown' again and also 'back to you'…and also the requests from the 500 follower celebration so just like 'sworn fealty'…it might happen, it might not happen, and that's that on that.

Tumblr media
A small, exaggerated gasp escapes the young girl’s lips as she rolls over the couch with a toy foam sword in hand. Amy laughs as she bounces off the cushion finding it only slightly difficult to get to her feet so she can point her sword in the direction of where she and Mina had deemed the evil wizard was.
“Back, back I say! You’ll never take our daddy from us.”
Mingyu grins to himself, reaching up to adjust the plastic crown that Mina had placed there a few minutes before. The ring on his pinky just barely fit on his finger to his first knuckle but it seemed to make both his daughters happy. He had let them put on both earrings and the necklace without any sighs of a fuss.
Days like this were Mingyu’s favorites. It had been just over six months since the adoptions had been finalized making Mina his, and Amy yours. Days like these reminded him how important that had been to you both when you had spoken your wedding vows not only to each other but to each of the girls just over a year ago.
With a laugh, Mingyu reaches out to catch Mina when she steps back stumbling over the rug in her valiant battle with the unseen wizard. The small girl grins from ear to ear, melting his heart as he helps her back to her feet so she can continue her task.
Instead of a sword, Mina had chosen to brandish the magic wand that had come in the princess dress-up package that Mingyu was now wearing most of. With a flick of her wrist, Mina points with the silver and blue wand dramatically.
“Your magic is no match for mine. I’m the best, right Daddy?”
Soft, beautiful eyes that were the same shade as yours look to Mingyu for validation. There was no way he couldn’t respond properly.
“Oh, absolutely sweetheart. You are the best I have ever seen with magic.”
Amy giggles at her dad’s words, her sword slicing through the air with more flex than necessary. The sword was showing its age but she didn’t seem to mind, just simply enjoying her time playing.
“And what about me?”
Mingyu smiles brightly matching Amy’s smile. Shaking his head, Mingyu takes in a deep breath extending his arms out towards the girls with the same dramatic acting they had been using the entire afternoon.
“I’ve never felt safer knowing you and your sword is in front of me Knight Amy of the House of Kim.”
With seemingly renewed confidence both girls charge at the imaginary evil wizard as Mingyu watches with amusement in his eyes. It’s only when the girls cheer at their own victory does he join in clutching at his chest at how they had saved him and his kingdom.
“I knew I could count on my brave protectors. Once again my kingdom is safe.”
Mingyu laughs when both girls run over to him to pounce on him smothering him with hugs. His arms wrap around them letting them curl into his form so they can already begin to gossip amongst themselves about how well they did. Taking the wand from Mina’s hand, Mingyu sits it on the couch behind him only to do the same with the foam sword.
Moving into the living room as silently as possible, you can’t help but smile at the sight in front of you. Your eyes move with the movement of Mingyu’s fingers pushing through both of the girl’s hair as they babble excitedly about some kingdom, wizards, and a princess. With your hand resting on your lower back you move into the room catching Mingyu’s attention first granting yourself his bright smile.
“Hey, beautiful.”
At his words, both of your daughters spring into action clambering from your husband’s side to move to hug you as best they can. Your own smile seems to warm the room making Mingyu take in a deeper breath as if he could inhale the happiness and keep it forever. Neither of you would get tired of his, seeing each other with the girls, seeing them happy like this.
“Hi, Mommy!”
“Mommy, oh my gosh. We saved Daddy from a wizard. We saved the entire kingdom!”
Your sweet laugh causes Mingyu’s smile to move toward his eyes. You were so attentive, he watches as Amy and Mina lead you to the armchair helping you to sit down so they can start to recount the entire story. How Princess Daddy was trapped in his tower by the evil wizard and Knight Amy and Sorcerer Mina found him and took care of the evil.
Glancing at Mingyu, you simply bite at your lips giving him a good once over with his crown, Mina’s wand now between his fingers as he lets his hand hang over his knee. He was the best father for your children that you could have ever asked for. The thought of him like this was enough to make you feel warm and for your heart to beat faster.
“I am so glad you saved Princess Daddy. I love him very much and would have been so very sad if something had happened to him, but look how lucky I am that I have you two to keep him safe even when I am away. I love you both.”
You watch as both girls seem to swell with pride at your words feeling like they are on top of the world at making you happy and keeping the house safe while you had your evening away from the house. Leaning to press a kiss to each of their cheeks you laugh against Mina’s skin when you hear her try to hide a yawn.
“Being a hero is very hard work. I think it’s time for bed.”
Mingyu watches you for a moment, your hand moving to the arm of your chair as you start to try to stand only for him to move more quickly.
“Please, let me put my brave heroes to bed tonight. Say goodnight to Mommy.”
Letting out a relieved breath you smile up at Mingyu who winks at you before you have both girls draped over you. Your arms wrapped around them you give them more kisses whispering how much you love them and for them to sleep well.
Mingyu glances back at you mouthing that he will be back soon, his hands gently guiding both girls toward their room and finally into their beds. Leaning down over Mina’s bed, Mingyu presses a kiss to her forehead making her smile.
“Goodnight sweetheart. I love you.”
Mina wiggles further down into her covers, her small hand reaching up to caress her dad’s cheek making the man lean into the gentle touch. It still amazed Mingyu how much someone so small could make him melt so easily.
Reaching up, Mingyu removes the crown from his head placing it on top of the girl’s head smiling at the sound of her laugh. Moving his eyes and then his feet towards the other twin bed, Mingyu takes Amy’s hand into his own lifting it to his lips to press a kiss to each small finger before grinning at hearing another sweet laugh.
“I love you, Daddy. I’m really glad we saved you.”
And I love you too. You can save me anytime, but you know I’d do the same for you, right?”
Amy smiles tiredly, her eyes beginning to close as she nods causing Mingyu to laugh softly. Slipping the ring from his pinky he puts it onto her index finger before leaning to press a kiss to his daughter’s cheek. His words whispered against her skin making her smile as she drifts off to sleep.
“Goodnight, angel.”
Mingyu only lingers in the room for a moment, his eyes moving from one bed to the other. He wanted to make sure both of his daughters were safe and comfortable. Soft happy sighs and snores told him that they were and that it was okay for him to pull the door shut and return to you.
Seeing you still sitting in the chair, your left hand moving slowly over the swell of your stomach causes Mingyu to stop in the archway. He wished he had his camera handy. He wanted to capture little moments like this forever.
Swallowing hard, Mingyu takes a step causing the floorboards the creak drawing your attention and making you smile when you see him reaching up to take off the last of the jewelry the girls had placed on him earlier. He only stops long enough to drop them onto the couch before moving next to you leaning down to press a soft lingering kiss to your soft lips that seem to make you lose your breath.
“I missed you, but I hope you had a good evening with your mom. You deserved a break, baby.”
His words were spoken against your lips, making you smile once again. Your fingernails gently scratch over the nightly stubble at his jaw causing Mingyu to grunt as he pulls away to look at you. Moving to stand in front of you, Mingyu lowers himself to sit on his heels so he is more level with your still-growing belly as your eyes move over his face.
“I missed you too, and the girls. I’m glad you had fun with them, but I did need it.”
The last of your words come out as a small laugh when you feel Mingyu’s hand run over your stomach, tickling you even slightly. A small whispered apology slips from his lips before your husband leans to kiss your stomach and rest his chin against it lightly to look up at you.
Your fingers run through his hair gently, you tilt your head to look at him lovingly. You loved moments like this. You loved how much he clearly loved you and your family. How much, Mingyu loved the little boy the two of you had made together now growing inside of you. Shaking your head, you smile running your fingers along the side of Mingyu’s face and feeling him lean into your touch before he speaks.
“Let me run you bath?”
Nodding, you bite your bottom lip as Mingyu turns his head to press a kiss to your palm.
“Only if you join me.”
Mingyu smiles against your hand before nodding in agreement.
“I’d love to, beautiful.”

hello! i wanted to send this in before requests end up closing... can i ask for mk1 raiden, johnny, and liu kang with a regressor who always steals one of their accessories? like what do you mean that's liu kang's headband? that's MINE!! 🔮 (also thank you for doing the windwolf nightmare hc's.. they were sweet <33)
Hiiii!!! This idea sounded so cute, I adored it. Also I'm so glad you liked the Windwolf Nightmare Hcs!!! :D <3 <3
Also, personal note, I don't like closing request, so they'll most likely never get closed. It just might take a bit of time to get to said request. I personally love receiving request and I enjoy doing them!! <3 <3 <3

CG Raiden w/ Regressor That Steals His Stuff Hcs
🌩 His hat/amulet
🌩 Raiden almost always hat his hat on, rarely have you ever seen him without it
🌩 So when he set it down to make food, he was slightly concerned to where it went off to
🌩 And where you were
🌩 He was just making sandwiches!! He had propped you up to watch some cartoons for a few minutes (per your request) where did you both go???
🌩 Luckily, he heard your quiet giggling
🌩He walked to the bedroom, seeing you standing in front of the mirror, or sitting right in front of it
🌩 You giggle, showing Raiden his hat on your head
🌩 And his amulet in your hands
🌩 He quickly scampers over and takes his amulet from you, that’s a no no, you can’t touch that
🌩 No matter how fussing you do, your not getting it
🌩You could get hurt, and he doesn’t want you to accidently zap yourself (he put it on an even higher shelf than before)
🌩 His hat on the otherhand? Completely fine
🌩 Although you should ask before snatching it next time 🙄
🌩 If you make grabby hands towards his hand, he’ll plop it on your head, coeing about how cute you look <3
🌩 You look adorable!!! How could he not squeeze your cheeks and nuzzle your noses together?
🌩 Sometimes when you ‘annoy him’ (you could never really annoy him) he’ll push his hat down on your face so you can’t see >:(
🌩 Raiden learns very quickly that he can’t take away HIS hat away from you
🌩 Why? Because you get veeeeeeery fussy when Dada tries to take ‘his’ hat back
🌩 You claim that his hat is yours now, and he just laughs and shakes his head (but won’t deny it)
🌩 You can’t chew on it though, thats a no no (he uses it very often and would prefer no bite marks)
🌩 He is very thankful that you wanna steal Dada’s hat and not Lao’s hat <3 (he’ll have the same heart attack that he had when he found you with his amulet)

CG Johnny Cage w/ Regressor That Steals His Stuff Hcs
⭐️ His sunglasses
⭐️ Has a million and one sunglasses, and changes them out frequently
⭐️ Which ones do you like? Every. Single. One.
⭐️ How do you steal said sunglasse? Easy!! Snatch them off his face!! :D
⭐️ He doesn’t do anything but raise his eyebrow and chuckle, claiming that if you wanted to look like Daddy, you could have asked
⭐️ Johnny, however, thinks he has a solution
⭐️ He’ll buy you your own pair of sunglasses!! :D
⭐️ Obviously that’s what you want, right? Because you snatch them so often?
⭐️ . . . no, you wanted Daddy’s sunglasses, not your own sunglasses >:(
⭐️ For a small while, Johnny didn’t get why you got so upset when he redirected you to your own sunglasses and not his
⭐️ Or, until you push your sunglasses far far away (and hide them under a stuffie) and make grabby hands towards his own
⭐️ After that he’s pretty chill with you taking his glasses
⭐️But you can’t chew on them >:( (they’re super expensive)
⭐️ And he’s rather put them on your face
⭐️ ^ Not that he doesn’t trust you to handle them . . . But he’s not trusting some kid not to smudge his glasses 🙄
⭐️ He’ll call you a Mini Superstar, because you look so cool!! :O
⭐️ He thinks it’s cute when you wear his glasses, and will take pictures (with consent) of how adorabley cute you look <3
⭐️ Johnny loves dressing his baby up cutely, no matter your age, and will style it with whatever glasses you stole of his (my favorite are the star shaped ones)
⭐️ If your bigger and like to play pretend, he’ll act like an adoring fan and you can be a movie star, or something similar
⭐️ If your smaller, he’ll swing you around and gush about how cute you look in his glasses
⭐️Will get the pair he bought for you and wear them himself, claiming that nowyou both look super cool now
⭐️ ^ And your matching!!! How cool is that?
⭐️ . . . Until you snatch these ones away because now Daddy has two sunglasses and they both need to be yours
⭐️ Although he finds it highly entertaining that you have sunglasses on your face and top of your head <3
⭐️ If you claim that the sunglasses are his, he’ll act all dramatic about it, but finds it really cute about how you like his things

CG Liu Kang w/ Regressor That Steals His Stuff Hcs
🌟 His headband
🌟 Liu Kang never takes his headband off, unless he’s taking a shower or going to sleep
🌟 So you’ve gotta be super duper stealthy if you wanna try and steal if
🌟 How? By pulling on it when he’s turned around!! :D
🌟^ If you regress bigger, maybe you made a better stealthy plan, but Liu Kang still catches you :\
🌟He’ll ask you what you think your doing, hands on the hip and everything, although there’s a smile on his face
🌟 He gets slightly confused when you request for his headband, because he rarely ever takes it off (and it completes his outfit . . .)
🌟 He lets you try it on once and that was his downfall
🌟 Now you constantly want to wear it!! Tugging at it whenever you want to, or just flat out (politely) demanding for it
🌟 Or it feels like demanding, why doesn’t he get a say on the matter? 😮‍💨
🌟 Rolls his eyes when you tell him that it’s now your headband, and will debate you that no, it is in fact not
🌟 ^ This debate is highly entertaining for whoever hears it, because he’s either arguing against your babbles, or the claim of ‘But I want it’, ‘But it’s your and I want it’, ‘But I wanna have it’
🌟 He never wins the argument unfortunally, always loosing and letting you wear it
🌟 He brought up once about getting you your own and you pouted so hard he started laughing
🌟You don’t want your own, thank you, you want Dada’s headband >:\
🌟But he does find it really cute when you wear it, you look adorable!! Like a miniture Dada :D
🌟 He finds it really funny when he ‘accidently’ places his headband on the table, and it ‘magically’ appears on your head
🌟 You don’t know how that happened, must have teleported :\
🌟 If your younger and can’t tie his headband on, he’ll happily help you (although finds it funny when you fuss and accidentally cover your eyes)
🌟 If your bigger, or can tie a knot, he’ll praise you for your good work, and smoother you in kisses, even if you whine and fuss over it
🌟 . . . However if he does misplaced his headband, your getting blamed first, so unfair 😮‍💨
<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
. . . I might have forgotten that Liu Kang has an actual headband and not a piece of cloth he ties on his head . . . It's fine. <3

“BEST FRIENDS”
Tumblr media
Pairing: Bestfriend!ony x reader have been friends for years. They do everything together from matching outfits to matching tattoos. But is Ony getting to close to his friend?
W/C: 1.6K
A/N: This is really a fluff from another story. I currently have 12 books right now lol and its a lot but I do a lot of writing dumps to get it out of my brain so enjoy this. Cute nicknames used. Black coded writing. Best friends to potentially something more… let me know if i should keep it going
Tumblr media
“Ony what the fuck is that?” His big brother asks, walking up to him and tilting his head to the side. “It's a tattoo dipshit what else.” Ony says. His big brother rolls his eyes before raising his hand and bring in it down on him, right against the plastic covering the sensitive skin. “FUCK!” Ony lets out, the pain searing through his neck. “That's what you get fucking smartass. I knows it's a tattoo but, what the fuck is the date on the tattoo.” he questioned him. Ony stretches his neck, trying to relieve the pressure from the slap. “The date me and y/n met.” He groans. His brother shakes his head and walks back towards the desk, propping himself on the corner.
Ony was about to speak but is interrupted when the door opens and you stroll in, headphones in your ears playing your favorite song. You walk in clueless, bopping your head to the beat. Ony bites back the smile playing on his lips. You finally lift your head and look around the room. “Why yall staring?” You ask. “So I’m guessing this idiot isn’t the only one with a new tattoo, huh?” His brother asks you, raising his brow. You roll your lips together to keep the smile in as your eyes glance over to Ony. He smirks at you. “Well?” His brother urges. You sigh, and roll your eyes before lifting the corner of your graphic t-shirt. Right on your lower right hip was a sliver of plastic covering the matching tattoo ink on your skin. The similar infinity symbol with your friendiversary and your initials branded your hip just like the one on Ony’s upper neck, behind his ear.
“What the hell is wrong with y’all?” His brother questions, shaking his head. Ony opens his mouth to speak but his brother cuts him off. “You know what. Don’t answer that.” You give Ony another look and you both bust out laughing. “Idiots.” his brother mumbles under his breath. You shrug your bag off and plop down on the couch next to Ony. You notice his tattoo is slightly redder than before he left your shared apartment. “Damn what happened to you?” You ask, snuggling into his side. Ony tosses his arm on the back of the couch over your shoulders. “My brother is a dick, what’s new.” He says, the pain still surging through his neck. “Alright, enough playing around. Let’s get to business.” His dad says walking in the room.
After the meeting was over, you start to grab your things. You feel a heavy set of arms wrap around your waist. “Onyyy.” You fuss trying to push him off. “Hey prettygirl. You ready to go?” He asks still holding on to you. “Yeah, I need some food.” You say flipping around in his arms. He smiles down at you. “What you want me to feed you pretty girl?” He asks you. You pretend to think deeply, scrunching your eyebrows and tapping your chin in thought. “Aight bruh, you doing too much. What you want to eat?” He rushes you. “I don't knooow, I want seafood but I also could tear some birria up. OH, and some ramen too.” You list out. “Really, y/n.” He says with a straight face. “Well you asked.” You shrug your shoulders. He finally releases you. “Okay, order your food.” He says. “But I don't know which one I want.” You pout. “So get all of it. Have it sent to the apartment.” Only says pulling out his card and handing it to you. “Really onybunny?” You squeal, snatching the card from him. He shakes his head at you. “You and this damn nickname, I swear.” He says feigning annoyance. You knew he wasn't bothered by it. You had been calling him that since yall were kids. “Yo, Ony can we talk with you for a second.” His brothers call from behind him. “Go ahead. I’ll meet you back at our place, cool?” He says. You nod and lift up to your tippy toes to press a gentle kiss under his chin. He leans down right after you flatten your feet and place one on your nose, another ‘thing’ you do to each other all the time. You shift your bag onto your shoulder and head out.
Ony turns to his older brothers once you left the room. “What’s up yall?” He asks them, a slight look of confusion on his face. They exchanged glances with each other before his oldest brother speaks up. “You don't think y’all are getting too close?” He finally says. “Who?Me and Y/N? Where is this coming from?” Ony asks them. He felt his annoyance start to rise but kept his composure. “I mean I get it. She's your bestfriend. But matching tattoos, thousands of dollars on cars, diamonds. Just how deep is this going Ony.” He questions. “You been watching my account?” Ony says, agitation surging through his blood. “I watch everybody’s account. As the financial leader of both companies, that's my job. And even if I didn't. You think we don't hear the rumors? How many girlfriends you run though because you don’t ‘treat them like your bestie’ or the fact that y/n comes in here everyday for training with a new set of jewelry? Come on lil bro. Be real with us.” He says.
Ony looks around the room at his brothers, each with a different face, some of concern, some evasive as if this was something they’re been avoiding discussing. “So, I’m guessing this ‘family meeting’ wasn’t a coincidence, huh?” He asks, rolling his eyes and slumping down into a chair. “Don’t be like that Onyonkopon. We are your brothers. We are just looking out for your best interest.” One of the others spoke up. “Do you seriously think y/n would use me?” He questions them. “Y/n is a good girl but I don't know how I would feel if someone started dropping racks on me.” His brother shrugs. Ony reels his anger back into his body and takes a deep breath.
“Look,” he starts. “Y’all have known y/n nearly as long as yall have known me as your brother. Y’all were here the day I found her and before then. And even in her most broken moments, she’s never wanted anything from me. The gifts, the jewelry, all of it. I had to force her to even take it.” He explains. They started to shift slightly. “And the thousands? I make that shit in my sleep. Besides y/n has her own money. And anything I give her she matches that shit right back.” “What you talking about? She gets you stuff?” His brother asks, eyes widening. “Yes, but she doesn’t use the accounts we have. She has her own. You think I bought that Royce out there? No. That was her trump card for me buying her the damn Bentley for her birthday.” Ony explains. “And the jewelry?” He questions. “You do realize I come in here with a new watch everyday right?” “She bought you those?” He asks, leaning forward. “Every single one.” Ony expressed to them. Their faces turn solemn at the accusations they made.
“Listen, I know yall are looking to for me and I love y’all to death for it.” Ony starts. “But yall are wrong for this and yall know it. Y/n has been in my life since I was 6. Yall have watched us both grow together. Y’all know both of us better than that.” He says. “We know. We know.” His brother sighs. “Yeah, we are close. We are best friends. We went to school together. We literally live in the same damn apartment. But that’s where we stand.” Ony shrugs. “Okay, bro we get it. Like you said, we love you and we are just looking out for you.” He explains. “And her and I will always be best friends. Until we turn 45.” Ony says. “HUH?” They look to him confused. “Oh, we made a pact. If we are both still single by the time we are 45, we are eloping and traveling the world together.” Ony shrugs, laughter coating his words. “Ony, what the fuck?” His brother said as they laughed together
After their “family meeting” Ony quickly made his way back to your apartment. “Y/n? You here pretty girl?” He calls out as he unlocks the door. “Yo?” He calls again after not getting a response. He walks towards your room and hears the sound of running water. Your voice carries over the song you had blasting over the speakers. Ony smiles to himself and he steps back and turns to his own room. He tosses his things to the side and jumps in the shower himself, tossing on some grey sweats and walking out to the living room. You walk out of the back of the house in an oversized tee and some shorts. “Bruh is that my shirt?” He asks you. “Yes, and what about it?” You say, placing your hand on your hip and cocking your head to the side. “I literally buy you clothes and you stay in mine.” He shakes his head at you and walks over to the couch. You giggle to yourself. “So, was everything okay with your brothers?” You ask him sliding right next to him on the couch. “Yeah. Nothing to worry about.” He says.
Ony knew you like the back of his hand and he knew telling you would only make you stress. That was the last thing he wanted. “You sure onybun?” You look up at him. His deep brown eyes meeting yours. “I'm positive. I love you pretty girl.” He says softly. “Love you too Ony.” You smile. He pulls you close and turns the tv on. As you turn to watch tv, he finds himself pulling you closer, his thick arms wrapping around your body, keeping you snug to his. Yeah, bestfriends…

"Aren't you excited to meet the dogs?" Sana asks the little girl in the back seat as Jihyo watches her from the rearview mirror.
Tzuyu looks at her with her eyes wide open and nods her head sheepishly even though she has been waiting a whole week to meet not one but three doggies as promised by her new moms, Sana and Jihyo. They also told her that she will meet two girls like her and their mothers, but this part is not so exciting to her and they know it.
She is a really shy kid. She gets nervous in crowded places and it takes her a while to feel comfortable around new people. It took her around five visits to start talking back to Jihyo and Sana and she finally told them she wanted to go home with them after six months of almost weekly visits. So the idea of meeting six new people for the first time at the same time is not very appealing, that is why their moms have made sure that their friends bring their dogs. Tzuyu loves dogs and Sana and Jihyo love Tzuyu and they are willing to do anything they can to make her feel comfortable, safe, protected, cared for and heard.
It has been a month since she arrived home and since then the three of them have been going through a process of adaptation that is not over yet. Soon she will have to start school, so when Jeongyeon told them that her sister had rented a hanok for her to spend Christmas with her family and invited them to join them with Momo and Mina as well, they did not hesitate to accept the offer. It would be the perfect opportunity to introduce them to Tzuyu and besides, their daughter could start socializing with children her age and it might go better than their attempts to get her to interact with other kids at the park.
A little further on, in Jeongyeon and Nayeon's car, Chaeyoung asks her moms in concern "Does Tzuyu like strawberries?" while absent-mindedly caressing Kookeu that sleeps resting his head on her lap.
Jeongyeon sighs while driving because she has already lost count of how many questions her daughter has asked them about the new member of their unique family. Since she found out that it was not a baby but a six-year-old girl like her, her interest increased and she has been asking nonstop about things like her favorite color, if she likes painting or drawing, what food does she like and a dozen other things that Nayeon and Jeongyeon can only answer by saying that she can ask them herself when they arrive.
Something similar happens with Dahyun, although her questions are undoubtedly much more complicated, as she doesn't quite understand how her aunts have had a daughter Chaeyoung's age instead of a baby. "I don't get it" she says, crossing her arms somewhat frustrated and looking at her mother suspiciously.
"It doesn't make sense, mommy" she says fussing and raising her voice slightly "How can auntie Sana have a 6 year old girl in her belly? She can't fit in! And auntie Jihyo is even smaller!" she cries out.
In the driver's seat Momo tries to hold back her laughter, but can't help but let out a chuckle with her last statement. Next to her, Mina just giggles as she realizes why her daughter is so worried about the whole situation, maybe they should have had this conversation earlier and not on the way to meet Tzuyu, but with everything that Mina has had on her mind these past few weeks she has been letting the now unavoidable conversation slide.
"Honey, Tzuyu doesn't come from Sana's or Jihyo's belly. Remember when we talked about the different types of families there are?" Mina begins to explain.
"Yes" Dahyun nods energetically. "Some people have a daddy and a mommy, other people have two daddies or two mommies and sometimes they have just a mommy like me, but there are as many types of families as there are colors" she quotes the explanation her mother has given her so many times.
Mina can't help but smile as she hears her daughter repeat word for word the phrase she has repeated every time she leaves the father's information blank on field trip permission slips, when other children ask her where their father is, or that time she had to make a family tree. Her daughter knows these words by heart and she can only hope that she feels that way too.
"Well, there are also children who don't have parents and there are families who don't have children, so they adopt those children and become a family. Tzuyu used to have no mommy and daddy, but now she lives with Sana and Jihyo who are her mommies" she explains, trying to find the best words.
During the explanation Dahyun listens attentively and her mother can see her opening her mouth slightly showing the gap left by her baby teeth that are no longer there as she processes all this new information.
"What does it mean to adopt?" she asks, frowning at the new word.
This time it is Momo who leads into the answer "It means they take her home to live with them and now they take care of her, give her hugs, help her get dressed, feed her...just like I did with Boo and-".
But before Momo can finish she is cut off by a slap from Mina on her thigh "Oh my god you're not comparing the dogs to Sana and Jihyo's daughter" Mina scolds her in a hushed tone so Dahyun can't hear her.
"Sorry" Momo mutters as she turns her attention back to the road, pero Boo después de escuchar su nombre ladra durante unos instantes.
"But if she didn't come out of no one's belly how can she be their daughter?".
"She doesn't need to have come out of any of your aunt's belly" Mina smiles softly "Don't you love Momo?".
"I love Momo" she says, nodding quickly.
"And I love you, Dubu" Momo speaks again with a big smile.
"And she's your family, right?" Mina already knows the answer, as this has been confirmed to her by all the drawings pinned on the fridge door with three stick figures surrounded by hearts and joined by two circles with ears that are supposed to be Boo and Dobby.
"Yes!".
"But you weren't in her belly and Momo takes care of you just like I do, she makes you breakfast, walks you to school, takes care of you when you are sick, dances with you and lets you sit on the counter while she cooks. She loves you just like I do" she says, watching Momo's cheeks blush.
"MOMO IS ALSO MY MOTHER?!” she screams and immediately adds a second question “Can I call her mom?" Dahyun asks, causing Momo to almost swerve
This time there is only one person who can answer the question, so Mina just looks at her partner with the most loving gaze while Momo is short-circuiting. It's not as if the conversation never came up, the two have talked about it many times and she knows that, to Momo, Dahyun is her daughter and that she loves her as such, even if she hasn't vocalized it yet at least consciously. On occasion the little girl has called her “mom” or “mommy”, but she always assumed she did it accidentally, so to hear from her own mouth that she wants to call her the same way she does with Mina is a big deal.
“S-sure” Momo stutters after a few seconds and just smiles widely.
Beside her, Mina feels like her chest is going to burst as she grabs Momo's hand and looks at her smiling with eyes sparkling with love. The truth is that for some time now when she thinks of family she no longer thinks only of Dahyun and her older brother but also of Momo, Boo and Dobby. When she thinks of family she thinks of her friends whom she sees as sisters and her daughters whom she sees as nieces. It's just a word, but it makes it all more real. They are a family.
While the two adults in the front seats try their best to hold their tears back, behind them Dahyun starts rambling about how she will tell Chaeyoung that now she has two mothers too and that her mom can cook just like Jeongyeon, so she has a mom and a mommy who can cook yummy things as if it's some kind of competition. They know that at some point they will have to tell her that she should not brag about these things to other children, but for now they let her enjoy the moment.
The way is long, but they all think it is worth it when they see the stunning place that Jeongyeon's rich and famous sister has rented a belated birthday present and an early Christmas present so that they can enjoy this holiday with their other family, the one that her sister and sister-in-law have built and chosen. Jeongyeon's parents did not like the idea of not spending Christmas spoiling their first and only granddaughter, but when Jeongyeon told them that it would be a good opportunity to meet the newly adopted daughter of her friend Jihyo and her wife Sana, they were quick to ask their daughter and Nayeon to organize a lunch at their house with all the kids and went straight to buy matching pajamas for Chaeyoung and the other girls.
It is a large traditional style house surrounded by nature, away from the city, but close enough to a village not to be too isolated, to be able to easily go to a supermarket to buy some last minute ingredients or to take a walk. The air is fresh, there is no pollution and the only thing that can be heard is the one or two birds, since at this time of the year most of them have flown to other places in search of higher temperatures. Without a doubt, it is the perfect place to celebrate Christmas and take a well-deserved rest that will last until the last days of the year. The truth is that there is still no agreement on whether they will celebrate the New Year here as well, but at least they will stay long enough to celebrate Sana's birthday together.
They all arrive around the same time and as soon as the cars stop two little whirlwinds jump out of Jeongyeon and Jihyo's cars.
"BROOOOOOO!" they both scream at the same time as they do their – secret in theory – handshake before melting into an embrace as if they hadn't seen each other a few days ago at school.
Mina sighs and covers her face with her hand "I need to have a word with my brother" she says aloud as a reminder to herself.
"I think she's adorable" Momo replies.
"Momoring, you are the least objective person in the world when it comes to these two" she smiles at her girlfriend. "They can literally do anything and you'd say they're adorable."
Between all the fuss caused by the two girls who are slightly over a meter tall Tzuyu goes almost unnoticed for a few seconds as she clings to Sana's leg and grabs Jihyo's hand with her other hand.
"This is Chaeyoung and Dahyun, I promise you they are usually quieter" Jihyo informs Tzuyu as Sana laughs at the sight of the two's handshake and greeting.
At the sound of their names the two immediately turn their heads to their Aunt Jihyo and then to the girl holding her hand. Their eyes widen and point at her, then they look at their aunt again and it is Dahyun who speaks first.
"Is she Tzuyu?" she asks in excitement.
Jihyo and Sana nod at the same time while Tzuyu shyly waves her hand without saying a word.
They again turn their gaze to Tzuyu and then look at each other.
"You are very pretty" Chayeoung says, looking at her again.
"You are very tall" Dahyun says.
“Gracias” Tzuyu dice en apenas un susurro mientras intenta refugierse aún más tras las piernas de Sana.
The women noticing how shy the little girl is decide to give her some space before starting the introductions.
"Why don't we start taking things inside?" Jeongyeon asks saving the new family member. "And you girls could give the dogs a turn to pee, since there are three I think we're going to need Tzuyu's help, don't you think?".
The girls nod their heads and to which the eyes of the one Jeongyeon just named light up at the suggestion as since she got out of the car she hasn't taken her eyes off the three doggies still waiting in the cars for their seat belts to be unbuckled.
"Tzuyu would love it" Sana states as she crouches down to Tzuyu's height to explain that she is her friend Jeongyeon, the mom of Chaeyoung and a pomeranian named Kookeu.
She just nods and stays silent but lets herself be guided by Sana, who walks with her to Momo's car, where Dahyun starts with the introductions. She introduces herself first, then her mom Mina, her mommy Momo and it is the latter who introduces her to Boo and Dobby while she puts the leashes on them and hands Boo's to Dahyun and Dobby's to Tzuyu who, despite her shyness, is clearly filled with joy.
At all times Sana stays by her side and gives her comforting glances every time she looks up and gently squeezes her hand reminding her that she is by her side. The gesture reassures Tzuyu who dares to thank Dahyun, Momo and Mina and then says in a whisper "I am Tzuyu, nice to meet you", just as her moms have taught her.
Dahyun smiles as she grabs the leash and seconds later Chaeyoung and Kookeu join in. This time, the oldest girl introduces Chaeyoung and Tzuyu formally explaining that they are both the same age even though Chaeyoung is shorter and Tzuyu is even taller than Dahyun herself. Sana watches the interaction closely and can't help but laugh, her heart melts every time she sees Dahyun taking on the role of unnie as she usually does with Chae, and now she is doing it with her daughter. She walks and watches over the three of them as they explore the surroundings of the house with the dogs before going inside while the rest of the mothers are taking bags and backpacks full of clothes, food, supplies and - of course - gifts out of the cars while the girls are distracted and out of sight.
"No, no, no, no" they hear Nayeon say as she takes some bags from her wife's hands.
"Oh come on honey, are you serious?" grumbles Jeongyeon.
"I'm dead serious, join Sana and the girls. I'm not going to let you carry anything."
"Nayeon... Even on the assumption that I was you-know-what, I could carry this. I'm already taking all the precautions and taking vitamins, but I'm not going to be getting the pregnant woman treatment as if I can't do anything. I refuse to do that" she argues and in response receives a negative head shake.
"Look, I have a good feeling so I'm not going to let you carry anything. And the only reason I'm letting you drive, for now, is because we both know that between you and me only one of us is capable of getting us safely to a house in the middle of the mountains. And obviously the one with the side of the car with scratches in the three colors of the parking column is not the one".
"Don't tell me you scratched the car again" sighs Jeongyeon tiredly.
"Don't change the subject and go inside the house now or go stretch your legs a bit with your daughter before we lose her among these plants that I'm sure are taller than her."
Faced with such an argument, Jeongyeon has no choice but to accept her wife's suggestion and joins Sana, the three girls and the three dogs.
Once inside the house, Nayeon, Momo, Jihyo and Mina put everything in order and catch up with each other. Since the group was formed they try to see each other regularly and in the case of Momo, Mina and Nayeon - along with Jeongyeon - they often see each other at school and occasionally on play dates in the park. However, with the hectic pace of work, raising the girls and taking care of the house, sometimes it is almost impossible to meet all of them together. Besides the fact that Jihyo and Sana have been practically absent these last few months, since they spent some time preparing everything for Tzuyu's arrival at home, and that this last month has been entirely dedicated to adapting to this new situation. This is the main topic of conversation among the women who ask Jihyo how she is handling it, if it is difficult, assure her that the best is yet to come, ask her how Sana has been doing and give her some advice.
Jihyo is euphoric, she and Sana are the extroverts of the group and in general she is a very vocal person, but it is more than obvious to everyone that she is more talkative than usual. It is not the first time they see her like this, she was the same way when she met Tzuyu for the first time and when they started the adoption procedure. They love to see their friends like this and Mina and Nayeon remember that feeling of being new moms and how their friends were there to share the joy, the fears, the doubts and how they listened to them talk for hours about names, diapers, cribs, milk, clothes, ultrasounds and a thousand other things.
In fact, it was Jihyo and Sana who were present during their pregnancies respectively. Jihyo was the one who took a Nayeon who was suffering from contractions to the hospital while Jeongyeon at her side told her how to breathe, even though she was the one who needed the breathing exercises the most at that moment. And well, Sana was even present when Mina gave birth to Dahyun taking the place of the biological father - or the sperm donor as Sana calls him -.
Momo, despite being the most recent addition to the group, two years ago, shares the excitement equally as the three of them listen to the first anecdotes that Sana and Jihyo have already experienced with Tzuyu at home. The truth is that they have all been hearing about her for more than half a year and although today they have finally met her, they already feel that they have known her for a long time and that she is part of their family.
"And it looks like Jihyo and Sana aren't the only new moms in the group, right Momo?" asks Nayeon arching her eyebrows looking at her "new" best friend.
Mina hearing it can't help but smile and Jihyo makes a surprised face, they both look at Momo who smiles shyly.
"It seems so" she says while still smiling "Dubu has officially given me the title".
"I was honestly surprised she hadn't called her mom by now. There are times she looks more like your daughter than mine" she says to Momo as she holds out her hand and strokes it with her thumb.
Mina takes advantage of Nayeon bringing up the topic of conversation and explains that it all came up in the car talking about Tzuyu and the adoption thing. Nayeon almost gets tears of laughter listening to Dahyun's confusion with the logistics of the matter and, like Momo, can't help but let out a laugh when she hears that one of the things she was really worried about is that Jihyo would have had someone so big in her belly when she was so small. Nayeon, for her part thanks aloud that Chae's questions were not so complicated, although they all agree that she and Jeongyeon have admirable patience after hearing that the questions didn't stop during the three-hour drive.
Jihyo's heart warms, despite her height being a joke even to her seven-year-old niece, to hear how the little ones have taken the news. It was clear to her that both her friends and her daughters would welcome Tzuyu with open arms, but hearing the girls' doubts and their mothers' responses gives her peace of mind knowing that her daughter is surrounded by such wonderful people. For a while she felt guilty for not being able to give Tzuyu some grandparents to spoil her since the relationship with her parents is non-existent and that Sana's parents live in another country, but that thought disappears from her head when she listens to her friends. This is her family.
Not only is she comforted by listening to the three women but she takes note of their experience and especially Mina's explanation to her daughter about the different types of family in case she ever has to use it with her own daughter.
"Wow that's great" says Jihyo excitedly "Tzuyu still calls us by our name from time to time, but at least she has stopped calling us Mrs. Jihyo and Mrs. Sana" she laughs.
Once everything is in place, Mina starts preparing tea for the adults and milkshake for the girls. Chocolate for Dahyun, strawberry for Chaeyoun and for Tzuyu... When she is about to look for Jihyo to ask her about it, the three dogs run in followed by the two children, Jeongyeon and finally Tzuyu who hasn't left Sana's side the whole time. Seeing the cute scene makes Mina smile tenderly, it reminds her a bit of herself when she was a child, so she can't help but laugh a little as she imagines how such a shy girl will handle having the most outgoing people she knows as mothers, for now they seem to be handling it quite well, she doesn't remember seeing Sana this calm in her life.
"Tzuyu, which milkshake do you prefer? We have chocolate, strawberry and vanilla" she asks her.
The girl looks first at her mother who gives her a little squeeze on the shoulder encouraging her to answer herself, even though she already knows the answer.
"Vanilla, please. Thank you" she replies immediately.
"Good choice. Dahyun is going to be delighted but you might break Chaeyoung's heart".
"Don't worry about that part, Mitang. We brought that ice cream that has all three flavors and I think everyone will be happy" says Sana looking at her daughter.
"Is Jihyo still competing with Nayeon for the favorite aunt spot?" Mina asks while Sana nods, rolling her eyes. "I think Nayeon brought the ingredients to make hot chocolate, I just hope Dahyun doesn't try to eat it all."
Sana laughs and replies "If it happens let's hope then he won't get a stomach ache like that time. I just can't stop Jihyo, you know how she is. She is very sexy when she gets into competitive mode."
"Have some decorum" she says laughing, covering half of her face with her hand and looking towards the little girl. "I can imagine, it's going to be fun when school starts. Remember when Nayeon almost got into a fight with a parent on sports day."
The two laugh while Tzuyu plays distractedly with the seams of her mother's pants and also with her hands and rings. The conversation does not last much longer because when the girl sees the dogs, she asks her mother to come with her to play with them.
As soon as Sana disappears from the kitchen Jeongyeon shows up, offering to help Mina, but they both know it's just an excuse. Like Momo and Nayeon, they haven't known each other practically all their lives - as is Jeongyeon's case with Nayeon and Jihyo - but from the beginning they connected very well and are now quite close probably because of how similar their personalities are. Being two people who sometimes deal with a bit of anxiety and have a tendency to overthink, they have found someone to lean on who understands them.
"You haven't done it yet, have you? "Jeongyeon asks Mina first.
She shakes her head "I've tried, I promise. But the truth I'm glad I waited, if you give me a hand tonight I think I will do it" she says, unable to hide her gummy smile as she thinks about it.
"Yeah sure, just tell me what you have in mind and we'll find time to set it up."
"Same goes for you, I overheard your conversation with Nayeon earlier. So if there's anything I can help with, let me know" she offers.
"Don't worry about me, I've got it all planned out, Mitang" she tells her as she starts placing the cups of tea and milkshakes on a tray. "Or should I say bro" she teases her.
"Oh shut up Jeong, I'm regretting letting my brother babysit. The other day she called me 'bro'!" she says making her friend laugh.
When Mina and Jeongyeon appear in the living room, they all sit around a table and start drinking tea while the girls drink their smoothies, obviously Tzuyu's choice of flavor doesn't go unnoticed by the other two. Just as Mina predicted, Dahyun couldn't be happier to keep all the chocolate for herself while Chaeyoung is a little put off that her new friend doesn't share her passion for strawberries, although she is more reassured when she tells her that her favorite is vanilla but she also really likes strawberries. Chae and Dahyun soon get up to start exploring the house and play hide and seek while Tzuyu, still overwhelmed by all these new people, stays by herself playing with the dogs.
She talks to them, throws the ball and tries to teach them tricks although the only one who responds to her commands is Kookeu.  They all look at Tzuyu with adoring eyes as they see how tender she is with the animals while Nayeon's look of pride is directed at her beloved dog. Still she can't resist how adorable her new niece is so she takes the moment to introduce herself while showing her the tricks she has taught the pomeranian, making Tzuyu feel more comfortable. She is a shy and quiet girl and it is normal that the situation is too much for her, but as soon as they start talking about dogs, Nayeon gets to see the Tzuyu that Jihyo and Sana have already known within the walls of their home. She is lively, smiling, intelligent and can become talkative when the topic of conversation interests her, at least if it's about dogs.
After a while Chayeoung goes to look for Tzuyu who is still playing with Kookeu and her mom while Dahyun makes a loud announcement for the adults. It seems that they have found a Christmas tree so big that it almost touches the ceiling with some boxes around it with all kinds of decorations in one of the rooms of the house, some of them similar to the ones they have at home and the ones they themselves have made at school. For the girls it is something magical and the adults let them believe it.
The next few hours they are all together decorating the tree, both kids and adults, while talking, laughing and singing. The end result is... colorful and eclectic. The tree has lights, ornaments of different colors and shapes that they had at home, the girls have collaborated with diy decorations full of glitter and doodles and some stuffed animals and superhero toys and even Mina and Jeongyeon have made their contribution with ornaments made of LEGO. All that's left is to put the star on the top of the tree.
Deciding who puts the star turns into a rock-paper-scissors competition between Chaeyoung and Dahyun, but also between Nayeon and Jihyo who want their daughters to place the star. After three rounds, Sana encourages her wife who has already rolled up her shirt sleeves showing her shoulders and put her cap on backwards and it is not until Jeongyeon sees the same competitive expression on her wife and daughter's face that she decides to put an end to it. Fortunately, they make the wise decision to have the three girls together put on the star with the help of their mothers. Jeongyeon, being the tallest of them all, has no problem holding Chaeyoung in her arms. Mina is a little taller than Momo, but her daughter has grown up and she finds it harder and harder to carry her in her arms as she did before, so the girl ends up in the arms of the oldest one. The same happens with Sana and Jihyo, however, Jihyo's strength does not make up for her height even though Tzuyu is quite tall so she reluctantly lets Sana hold Tzuyu while Nayeon looks at her amused.
Each of the little hands holds a part of the star with the help of their mothers and it is Nayeon who captures the moment first with her film camera and then with her phone, sending the photos to the group chat instantly. As soon as she receives the photo, Mina smiles when she sees one of them with only Momo and her daughter in it and quickly makes it her new lockscreen. The camera stays in Nayeon's hands for the rest of the day.
Decorating the tree together gets the youngest out of her shell, she continues to play with the dogs, but she also starts playing with Dahyun and Chaeyoung. They run around the house for a while until Chaeyoung takes out her notebooks, coloring books and crayons. In the kitchen Jeongyeon, Momo and Mina prepare lunch and in the dining room Sana, Jihyo and Nayeon set the table. The house is full of voices, laughter, jokes, curious questions from the girls and some barking from the dogs and the girls. When the food is ready all nine manage to adjust to the small table eating with their arms glued to the one next to them. They wouldn't change it for the world, but they comment that they should come back during the spring or summer so they might be able to eat at the large outdoor table under the sakura tree to enjoy the beautiful place where they are. From that moment some of them take out their phones and start looking at dates on the calendar, but Mina's mind travels to other places when she hears that the big tree outside the house is a sakura.
After eating and cleaning up together with the help of their daughters, they go around the house. Surprisingly, they get the girls to agree to take a nap, probably tired from being up early and having been awake throughout the long car ride. Jihyo joins them, as do Boo and Dobby who find a gap between Dahyun and Tzuyu, the younger one snuggles up to Jihyo's chest who even in her sleep puts her arms around her protectively, something that comes naturally to her.
In another room the rest have some Japanese sweets made by Mina and Momo with a game of cards between them, without Jihyo and Chaeyoung, there is no one to fuel Nayeon's competitiveness, leading to the most peaceful card game they have had in their life. It's certainly something that tends to happen when Nayeon is around Mina as long as Jihyo and some kind of game, competition or betting isn't also present and it seems that Tzuyu has that same effect on her mothers. But like all good things, the quiet is short lived and in less than an hour the girls wake up and show up with Jihyo, she could still take another hour of rest. She instead sits behind Sana resting her chin on her shoulder and wrapping her arms around her until she realizes that her wife has some cards in her hands and after giving Nayeon a defiant look she starts whispering a strategy in her partner's ear.
Dahyun realizes that they are playing cards and runs to her backpack and takes out her UNO for children and they start a more serious and less noisy game than their mothers. If it wasn't for the colors and the animals that appear on the cards, anyone would think that they are the ones who are betting money and not Jihyo and Nayeon who keep shouting while Sana only laughs. This time it is Momo who captures the moment on film after being the first to lose in the game. She stealthily sits next to Dobby and Boo and caresses them while watching and listening to them, she can't help but smile as she listens to the questions they ask Tzuyu trying to get to know her. When the game ends in a draw by Dahyun's decision and without any protest from Chaeyoung and Tzuyu, even though Momo doubts they have understood the game well, she finally asks.
"Who wants to make cookies?".
The question revolts the three little girls who immediately get up and squeal an enthusiastic "YES YES YES!" in unison joined by an excited Sana.
Momo takes them to the kitchen where there are two bags with everything they need. From the first bag she takes out three aprons like the one she wears in her restaurant, but these are a small version with each one's name embroidered on them. This small detail touches them so much that for a moment they forget the reason why they have put them on and Sana, despite not having an apron for herself, gives Momo a huge smile and says "thank you", touched by her friend's gesture.
In the end the little cooking class that Momo had prepared attracts the attention of the older ones as well and they all end up in the kitchen among flour, eggs, dough, icing and all kinds of toppings with all kinds of colors. Of course, they replace the Christmas gingerbread cookies with chocolate cookies, vanilla flavored cookies and cookies with strawberry icing to please everyone's tastes. Some mix, some knead, some shape the cookies and then bake them, and each one ends up with a pile of cookies to decorate according to her taste and decorating skills. When they are done with the cookies, they all dare to make a big cookie house, all nine of them.
To say that when they finished the kitchen was the typical mess after cooking would be an understatement, as it took almost as long to clean up as it did to make dozens of cookies and the eccentric cookie house. When everything is finally cooled down, they make some hot chocolate and coffee with whipped cream, marshmallow, caramel... Then again they gather around the table with a cup in their hands.
It's not very late, but it's been dark for a few hours now and the only light outside is from the lamps hanging from the ceilings of the house and some bulbs decorating the garden of the house and the lights of some houses in the distance. It's time to shower and get ready for bed, at least for the kids who instead of getting more and more tired are more and more animated as the evening comes and the time when Santa Claus will bring them their presents is closer. There are only three girls, each under the care of two adults, but it takes them more than an hour to get them showered and dressed in their matching pajamas in the bed they have prepared for them. At first Tzuyu does not seem very sure about the idea, not that she is not used to it, in fact she used to sleep in a room with about ten or fifteen other girls, but this month she has spent it in the bed between Sana and Jihyo because she is still not able to sleep alone and now the idea of sleeping without them does not convince her.
"Come on, Tzuyu sleep with us" asks Chaeyoung, who can't stay away from her new friend.
"Sleep with us Tzuyu, you can sleep in the middle, since you are the little one we can take care of you just like when I let Chae the side of the wall so she won't fall" Dahyun tries to convince her.
That last statement just melts the heart of all the women who are watching their little negotiation, but especially Sana and Jihyo. They are no strangers to these special moments between girls but now, witnessing it as mothers, hits different.
"I have an idea" interjects Sana. "Why don't I read a bedtime story to the three of you so Tzu can test if she likes this bed and if she likes it you can leave her one of the sides so she can come to our room if she needs it" she says while looking at her daughter who nods in agreement with the solution offered by her mommy.
"Yes, you read it, auntie Sana!" exclaims Chae excitedly as Dahyun nods.
They love to listen to Sana telling them bedtime stories with the funny voices she does and Sana loves to read them bedtime stories. It has always been her favorite part of babysitting either of them and on occasion when she and Jihyo would invite them to have a sleepover at home giving their moms a break while at the same time she could enjoy something she thought she would never have until Tzuyu came into their lives. Sana has always had a very strong maternal instinct and with these things it shows even more. Her storytelling, answering the strangest questions and convincing three kids excited for Christmas to be in bed even before their usual bedtime are things that come naturally to her. Jihyo feels like her heart is about to explode when she sees these kinds of scenes and her friends couldn't be happier for her, to see that finally something she saw as an impossible dream is now a reality.
Normally the only one who usually stays awake until the end of the story is Chae because she gets absorbed with each story and can't sleep unless she hears the end, but this time Sana has to read them up to three stories until they all finally fall asleep.
Finally it's time for the adults to relax, drink some wine, beer or soju and be able to talk and gossip without having to keep an eye on their surroundings to make sure that there is not a half-meter girl that they can badly influence if they hear them say a swear word or talk about some inappropriate topic. From time to time one of them goes to the room to check that everything is all right and that they are still asleep.
Once again, Mina somewhat nervously finds an excuse to drag Jeongyeon into the kitchen where she finally tells her about her plan and asks her to keep an eye out in case Dahyun wakes up or needs her while asking for some discretion. As she leaves the kitchen she heads to her room and returns with two coats, giving one to Momo to go with her to get some air. The others either don't notice or for Mina's sake pretend not to notice except for Jeongyeon who gives her a subtle thumbs up.
Her obvious nervousness and shaking hands suddenly catches Momo's attention causing her cheerful and slightly drunk expression to change to a worried face holding Mina's hands immediately.
"Babe, has anything happened, has your family called?" asks Momo worriedly knowing it's one of the things that triggers Mina's anxiety around this time of the year.
"No, no. Everything is fine" Mina assures her with a nervous smile and unable to hold her gaze.
"We've already talked about this, your hands are shaking. You can tell me anything, Mina. I got you" says Momo wrapping her arms around her and Mina can only feel lucky to have someone like that by her side.
She lets herself be taken in by the embrace and breathes in Momo's perfume, something that always soothes her, before pulling away and starting to talk.
"Baby, I'm okay. I promise" she says, grabbing her hands to stop the shaking of her own hands. "But if I'm going to need you to listen to me".
Momo nods and looks at her expectantly.
"I'm going to need us to move to that tree" she says pointing to the huge tree that by this time has not a single leaf or flower.
Once they are under the tree sitting on a small wooden bench while holding hands looking into each other's eyes, the youngest takes a breath and begins her speech.
"This isn't as cute as I had originally envisioned in my mind, but this is a sakura tree" she says gesturing awkwardly as if she is introducing the tree as the other looks at her in confusion. "I don't know if you remember" she takes a deep breath trying to calm her nerves so her voice doesn't sound so shaky. "But when things started to get serious between us, when I was afraid to let you into my life and Dahyun's, you told me that when you looked at the two of us you felt the same as when you saw the sakura blooming in the spring when you had only been here in Korea for a short time because they made you feel at home. I feel something like that too. When I think of you I think of family and when I think of family Dahyun's face is not the only one I see, I see you too." She thinks about her words for a bit and adds "It's not like I didn't see you as part of my family before, but today when Dahyun started calling you 'mom' I felt like everything was finally in place.... W-what I want to say is that I want you to be our Dubu's mom, I want to say that you are my daughter's mom when people ask me and I also want to say that you are my wife" she finishes saying with bright eyes full of tears while looking at Momo in expectation.
Momo also has some tears in the corners of her eyes and can barely articulate any words for a moment until she finally speaks "Minari, are you asking me to marry you?" she asks with a smile from ear to ear.
"Yes, s-sorry I forgot the most important thing" she stutters nervously searching for the ring in the pockets of the huge jacket until she finally pulls out a small velvet box and opens it before her eyes "I wanted to wait for the sakura bloom, but I couldn't wait any longer and when she asked if she could call you mom-" she starts to ramble as she does when she gets nervous.
They have been together for more than two years and it still happens to her at times like this. It still happens to her just like it did during the dozens of encounters they had until Momo understood that her best customer might be interested in more than just the Japanese food she missed so much and finally asked her if she would like to meet outside her restaurant. Mina hates that she still makes her stutter sometimes and for Momo it is one of her favorite things in the world to know that despite the time she still has the same effect on Mina.
Suddenly she feels Momo's lips crashing against hers in an clumsy and rushed kiss, but full of emotions. Their arms are wrapped around each other's body and they can feel their cheeks wet with tears as the older one pulls away and softly says "Yes!".
"Let me ask you the question!" she whines. "Hirai Momo, will you marry me?" she asks finally resting one knee to the ground and all.
"Yes. I will marry you, Myoui Mina" she says laughing as she uses her full name.
Momo smiles as she sees her with one knee on the ground giving her the ring, a scene she thought she would never experience like so many other things when she discovered she liked girls in her last year of high school. Now she has the most beautiful woman in the world saying she wants her to be a mother and a wife, asking her once again to make a family together. They are already family and they both know that the ring doesn't change anything because they have been a family since the moment Mina decided to introduce Momo as her girlfriend in front of her friends and then her daughter, when Dahyun started treating Dobby and Boo like her own dogs, when Momo offered to pick up her daughter from school when Mina couldn't, when Mina asked her if she would like to live with her and Dahyun, when Momo started calling the little girl Dubu and started reading her bedtime stories or just a few hours ago when Dahyun asked her if she could call her mom.
"I'm sorry but Nayeon and Sana's rings are going to have to go to the other hand", Mina bothers him being now more relaxed, taking her out of her thoughts while she takes her hand and starts to put the ring on it.
It is a thin, simple, white gold ring decorated with three diamonds, while she puts the engagement ring on her finger she explains that since she prefers simple rings she thought it would probably be better to have a few small diamonds than one big one and that she liked the idea of three diamonds because they are three. This time she explains it more calmly, as if she isn't feeling her heart pounding in her chest at full speed.
"I love you" says Momo, this time in her mother tongue.
"I love you, Momoring".
It's been impromptu, no picnic in the spring watching the sakuras bloom and no dinner at the nice restaurant she saw when they passed through the nearby village and the speech she's been preparing for a month was forgotten as soon as she saw how Momo cared about her when she thought something bad had happened, but Mina couldn't care less. Momo has said yes to continue having a life together now with the promise of forever and that's all she needs.
It's cold and the first snowflakes are starting to fall from what looks like it will be the first snow of the year. Neither of them move, enjoying a little alone time before going back inside the house. The two cuddle and kiss, some of those kisses are short pecks on the lips and some turn into heated kisses that leave them breathless. When Mina's freezing hands sneak under several layers of clothing to caress the skin of Momo's stomach under her shirt sending a shiver throughout her body they go back inside.
When they came back they all know, even though all she asked Jeongyeon to do was to keep an eye on Dahyun and keep her mouth shut. You can't really blame her, the time they were there for them felt like an instant but it was really over forty five minutes of listening to Nayeon and Jihyo listing every moment they had told her some secret or gossip since they have known each other while Sana was about to have a breakdown thinking they were arguing and thinking about what she would do if they made her pick a side. All this while her social battery was at a minimum, so she ended up confessing everything and even shared some parts of the speech Mina had texted her asking if it was too cheesy.
As soon as she enters the door all eyes turn to Momo's hand and before Nayeon, Sana and Jihyo start to scream, Jihyo cures Sana's mouth with her hand and Jeongyeon covers Nayeon and Jihyo's mouths. Mina and Momo are completely blushing trying to hide in each other's neck while Jeongyeon apologizes for announcing it before them, knowing that they would have preferred to say it one by one to avoid this.
The three of them start asking them a million questions and start planning their wedding. Then Sana whines about not being the first to know but this topic doesn't last long because they all agree that she would have been so happy that she would have told the others and maybe even Momo herself if Mina had told her about her plans. After a while Jihyo shows up with more soju and even a bottle of champagne she had prepared in case they stayed to celebrate New Year's Eve, but the occasion is worth it. And if there's one thing Jihyo doesn't mess around with, it's alcohol, so you can trust that it's some good, expensive champagne.
They all toast to Momo and Mina's engagement with champagne except for Jeongyeon who raises her cup of tea, no one is shocked because since she started the artificial insemination treatments she has not been drinking for months, but they all need to know as soon as possible if she is finally pregnant because they really need to get used to the idea that Nayeon is going to keep drinking for the two of them at every celebration. Nayeon is not a bad drinker, but as she is drunk she won't be still for a second, she even becomes more giggly and hits the arm of anyone next to her. Jihyo and Jeongyeon tell that sometimes during their college outings they would wake up with bruises on their arms.
When they decide it's way too late and they have to put all the presents on the tree, the only one who is drunk – thankfully – is Nayeon. Momo and Sana have a slight blush on their cheeks while Jihyo has drunk twice as much as Nayeon and is doing better than Mina who has only had a glass of champagne because it is her own engagement, but is still a bit dizzy from today's emotions.
It doesn't take them long to place the gifts despite Nayeon's interruptions and her and Sana's giggles threatening to wake up the girls. Luckily, Jeongyeon and Momo go a couple of times to check that they are sound asleep when they hear a soft snore from one of them.
They all say their good nights among smiles and laughter, feeling as excited as their daughters to open the presents as a family. Each couple disappears into their respective rooms and the moment they lay their heads on the pillow, they all fall asleep instantly. It has been a tiring and intense day and the best is yet to come.
The next morning they are all woken up at 7 am one by one by the three girls who only scream "CHRISTMAS", "SANTA" and "PRESENTS". The strategy they follow is the same, Dahyun and Chaeyoung come in screeching and jump on top of the adults shaking them followed by Tzuyu who is less shy around them but not enough to assault the adults like her friends do, so she just carefully tugs at their pajama sleeves while the others do the rest of the work. When they arrive at Nayeon and Jeongyeon's room things are different and Chaeyoung instructs the attack to be directed only at Nayeon because she has told her that she has to be careful with her mama.
The older ones have only had a couple of hours of sleep and some have a slight headache, but they make their way to the tree at about the same speed as their daughters until all nine are seated around the tree. Nayeon takes pictures with her camera while Momo has her cell phone in one hand and a video camera in the other with the intention of recording at least the highlights. Each time she checks that the camera settings are correct she can't help but smile at the sight of the new ring that now decorates her hand.
Finally it's time to open the presents.
Dahyun receives a small digital piano that is halfway between a toy and a real one to start with and a microphone, lately she is in her singer and rapper phase. Momo and Mina know that in a few days they might regret leaving her not one but two things that make noise and they also know that they will end up dancing and singing with her or that they will enjoy the small recitals that their little Dubu organizes at home. Another surprise they have prepared is for her to start piano lessons, but first they have to make sure that they know she would be going to real piano lessons and that it is not like when she plays her toy piano keyboard at home. They also give her some books from her favorite collection and of course, chocolate.
Chaeyoung, like every Christmas, birthday or any other special occasion, receives paints, sketchpads, watercolors, pencils and other art supplies that are of better quality as she gets older. The little girl always gets excited as if it were the first time she gets them as a gift because in a month half of the things are already used up and her mothers no longer know where to keep so many drawings. The last gift she opens, however, is something that makes her even more excited and that is a toy set to make temporary tattoos with markers. Since she was a toddler, she has had the habit of painting all over her arms and legs even before she could speak, and now there is not a day that goes by that she doesn't come home with a drawing in one hand and a note from her teacher in the other. When Nayeon saw the advertisement for the toy while she was on her phone, she ordered it online and it has been hidden in a corner of her house since summer.
Both Chaeyoun and Dahyun have among their gifts a package of a different color than the rest, Dahyun insists that Santa Claus knows they are bros and that's why he always gives them something that matches. The truth is that it's Jihyo and Sana who always get their nieces something special, since they didn't have a child to buy presents for until now. The fact that this year Tzuyu has come into their lives is not going to change this little tradition. This year Dahyun receives a stuffed eagle and Chaeyoung a tiger, their favorite animals. The choice of the oldest is surprising and even more surprising is that the couple found a cute stuffed animal of an eagle.
As for the new member of the family, she has been receiving gifts from her mothers ever since she arrived at her new home. Most of them such as clothes, school supplies, books and toys were just things that a 7-year-old girl needs at home, but Sana and Jihyo are still in the excitement of being new mothers so it is likely that she has been spoiled a little too much. After asking their friends for advice, they decided it was best to give her a few meaningful gifts rather than showering her with presents as they originally planned.
They didn't count on the fact that Tzuyu, given where she came from and with her background, is not the type of kid who asks for things, instead if she likes something you can see it on her face and maybe she mentions it because it has genuinely caught her attention and not because she is asking for it in a subtle way. They are both very happy to have such a good little girl and know that anything will be welcomed with sincere joy as they have seen so far, however it has made the job of being Santa Claus difficult for them. Luckily, since they discovered Tzuyu's passion for dogs, it was clear to them what the perfect gift would be. A dog, this was the perfect gift, except that they had their doubts about it. After much discussion and thinking about it, Jihyo and Sana agreed that they didn't want to be the kind of mothers who give a dog as a toy for Christmas, especially after listening to Jeongyeon talking about how many dogs arrive at the shelter a few months after Christmas when they are no longer adorable puppies.
Tzuyu for the first time receives presents that are actually for her and not generic toys donated to the orphanage. On her first Christmas with her new family Tzuyu opens a package bigger than her and almost the size of Jihyo, it is a life-size golden retriever stuffed dog that makes Tzuyu cry instantly. As soon as the stuffed dog is free from the wrapping paper the little girl hugs it tightly and goes to her mothers and hugs both of them.
"Thank you mommy Sana, thank you mommy Ji" she says sobbing making her mothers also cry with her.
"You don't have to thank us Tzu" says Sana as jihyo takes her and the huge stuffed dog in her arms. "Santa got it for you because you've been such a good girl," she says.
" All we did was tell Santa that you changed your address," Jihyo adds and kisses her on the head.
There are still two gifts to be opened, one of them an illustrated book about dogs and then a letter that her mommy Ji has to read to her. It is an invitation to visit the shelter and help the dogs living there. At the bottom of the invitation are a pair of paw prints of different dogs for which Sana and Jihyo are very grateful to Jeongyeon who has also offered to be the one to accompany them to the shelter where she started volunteering and where she now works as a veterinarian.
The other two children don't quite know what is going on, so they clap their hands when their mothers assure them that they are crying from happiness and not sadness. They themselves try to hold back their tears and in Nayeon's case hide them by covering themselves with the camera as she captures the emotional moment.
The next picture they take is one of the girls holding their stuffed animals. Dahyun poses like a rapper, Chaeyoun still doesn't know how to smile in photos and next to her Tzuyu stares at the camera with her eyes a little too wide. They take a total of thirty photos of them and they all agree that it's best to save those photos for posterity and not for Instagram. Luckily, the girls come out much better when they get their pictures taken while playing and Nayeon keeps saying that she can wait to develop the two rolls of film she has already spent since they arrived the day before.
After the photos it's time for the older ones to open the gifts and as with the card game the task of telling who is more mature is difficult. Of course, Nayeon turns it into another rock-paper-scissors competition to choose the order and Jihyo accepts so the others are dragged into the game. The oldest loses and in addition to enduring her wounded pride, Nayeon will have to wait until the end to receive the gift.
Contrary to other years when they have played secret friend, they have preferred to take the easy way and the gifts are only between the couples with the only condition that they are not allowed to give each other inappropriate gifts in front of the children. A rule especially addressed to Sana who on all Jihyo's birthdays gives her a lingerie set which is actually for herself and which Jihyo accepts with too much enthusiasm in front of all of them.
Sana gives Jihyo a designer leather jacket, a bottle of a really expensive soju that Jihyo loves with some glasses with a nice and elegant accompanying the bottle. " I'll give you your other gift later in the room" Sana whispers in her ear before giving her a kiss.
Nayeon gifts Jeongyeon a fancy watch and a letter which she asks her to read another time and is quite insistent that she doesn't read it in front of the others.
Mina tells Momo that her gift was given to her in the evening, but she has a small detail. In the package is a t-shirt with a drawing of the family done by Dahyun, there are a total of five t-shirts and Momo for a moment freaks out at the sight of two small t-shirts until Mina tells her that they are for Boo and Dobby making everyone laugh at Momo's momentary panic.
In between laughter, there is a loud sob and suddenly they all realize that Jeongyeon is crying her eyes out as she reads the letter. "Jeong! I told you not to read it!" says Nayeon in between laughing and crying as he wraps his arms around his wife and whispers "Well it's already in the letter, I love you baby." At another time her friends would have teased, but Jeongyeon seems to be truly touched so they leave the couple a moment and continue.
Mina is next and receives a LEGO set that Momo has caught her browsing through more than once when they go to the mall and a Nintendo Switch game, as well as a simple necklace adorned with three hearts. Mina loves it all and Momo is still surprised that jewelry always ends up being the gift that costs her the least money and effort.
Sana is surprised to receive an envelope from Jihyo because she has always been very thoughtful with gifts and usually receives a seasonal branded bag among other things. What she sees in the envelope, however, makes her scream in excitement more than any bag when she sees the tickets to go to Japan with their and Tzuyu's names on it. "Let's go see your parents next week, so they can finally meet their granddaughter," Jihyo says before she has to look up the details on the tickets herself.
Last of all is Nayeon. Finally her turn comes and she can't stop jumping up and down with excitement when she sees the box that Jeongyeon hands her. She tears the wrapping paper excitedly and when she opens the box and sees what's inside, her smile disappears.
"Seriously Yoo Jeongyeon" she sighs, looking at her seriously.
The others just stay quiet not sure how to react because Nayeon seems really annoyed so they just watch the exchange between the couple. Then she takes out what's in the box and they all burst out laughing when they see a t-shirt that reads 'World's #1 Dad' on it.
It's a good joke and it's nothing that's unusual for the couple, they love teasing each other as much as they love giving each other kisses and whispering sweet nothings. This time it looks like Nayeon is not having it.
"I hope you have something better hidden, I spent days looking for the perfect watch" she whines and at that moment everyone sees the usual Nayeon again and the mood of the room instantly lightens up.
Jeongyeon also looks serious but it is obvious that she is holding in laughter when she says "I think I should have gotten you new eyeglasses, haven't you seen what else is in the box?".
Her wife rolls her eyes and looks in the box again, not very convinced that there is anything in there, thinking it is still just part of Jeong's joke. You never know with these two, once Nayeon gave her fifteenf boxes tucked inside each other for their anniversary in college, though then he gave her something that kept them busy for several days locked in the room. One of the best gifts she ever gave her, unless you ask Jihyo who at the time was sleeping in the room next door. To this day, the youngest of the three has not wanted to know what that gift was, but today she is dying of curiosity, just like the others.
"OH MY GOD JEONGYEON!" she screams at the top of her lungs, making her friends jump in their seats and catching the attention of the girls who have been busy with their new gifts for a while now. "If this is a joke I swear-" she says trying to sound tough as she starts bawling her eyes out.
"I'm serious," Jeongyeon says in a whisper, taking the paper Nayeon is holding in her hands and showing her friends the ultrasound.  "We're going to be mommies again" she says with a huge smile.
It takes a few seconds for everyone to react and all of a sudden everyone starts to congratulate them while the oldest one complains to her wife that she didn't tell her, even more so when she finds out that she is almost three months pregnant and that they are expecting twins. Neither of them can believe that Jeongyeon made it on the first try and they couldn't be happier, especially with Chaeyoun's reaction. The little girl stares at them with wide eyes and when they confirm that she will be the big sister to two babies, her eyes glaze over and she climbs onto her mom's lap to hug them and caress her mama's belly.
"This is a better gift than the tattoo machine" she says, still pouting.
All these emotions seem to have made them hungry and they soon gather at the small table, which is now more crowded with the girls' stuffed animals. In the middle of the table they have a mountain of cookies that they didn't finish yesterday and there is also hot chocolate, tea, coffee and milkshakes. The Myoui-Hirai family is wearing their t-shirts. Sana and Jihyo tell Tzuyu about Japan, tell her about the food and let her know that she will meet more new people, this time it will be her grandparents. Jeongyeon is still forced to listen to a scolding from her wife for not telling her earlier that she is pregnant and lists one by one the things that could have happened until Jeong admits that she was afraid something would go wrong and Nayeon's gaze softens.  She knows that fear better than anyone, so she just stops and reminds her that everything will be okay because they have each other and because they have this wonderful family they've built. A family that was formed within the walls of their shared dorm during university and that has been growing ever since.

Callsign ‘Troublemaker’
Pairings: Jake Seresin x reader
Summary: When Bradley Bradshaw meets his namesake. Part 1 ‘Next Thing You Know’ can be found here or on my master list.
Warnings: mention of parents death, has a happy ending, Bradley and Jake bromance
Huge thank you to @callsign-phoenix for proofreading for me.
Tumblr media
The days at the hospital seemed to drag by and Jake couldn’t wait to get his wife and son home and settled in. When the day finally came he was so jittery and excited that (y/n) had to tell him to calm down as they got into the car.
“Jake, chill out. You have so much energy. What's gotten into you?” You laughed, settling into the passenger seat, still sore from her surgery but growing stronger by the day.
“I just can't wait to get him home, into his little room.”
Jake had spent so much time decorating the nursery. He had gone for the theme of planes, of course. The walls were alive with all the different aircraft on a beige background. The little wooden cot was nestled in the corner and above it hung a mobile with little jet planes on it. Bradley had found it online and now his namesake was going to enjoy it.
The drive home was slow, Jake barely going about 20 mph. “For a fighter pilot, you certainly don't know how to drive fast, the speed limit is 40, Jake.”
“I know. I know, but we have precious cargo,” he said, glancing into the backseat at your sleeping son. He looked so peaceful, tiny hands scrunched up by his chubby face, little eyes closed tightly. Jake had been your rock during the first few days of parenthood. He took to it like a duck to water and he loved every moment of it. During your pregnancy, Jake had read all the baby books he could get his hands on but the thing he enjoyed the most was skin-to-skin bonding time. You often found yourself waking up in the hospital bed to see your husband slumped in the chair, shirtless and with your baby boy resting on his chest. The sight of them together made your heart swell with love.
When you pulled up the driveway, you sighed with relief. It felt good to finally be home, in your own clothes and your own bed. Jake rushed around to help you out of the car and lead you to the front door before going back for Bradley. When you opened the front door, you were met with loud cheers. The Dagger squad had crowded into your small living room, cheering and clapping as the couple entered with their newborn. Phoenix stepped forward and embraced you tightly. “God (y/n), don't you ever do that again. You have no idea how stressed I was.” She rambled, continuing to hold your shoulders firmly.
“How do you think I felt, Nat? She's my wife.”
“She was my best friend first, Bagman.” you laughed, smiling at her.
“I'll try not to do it again. I promise.”
“You better had.”
The great of the squad all greeted you, hugging the new parents and making a fuss of the little boy. Even Mav was in his element, humming quietly and rocking Bradley gently after he started crying.
“You’re a natural, Mav,” you said quietly, watching over his shoulder at your sleeping son.
“The old man's still got it in him then.” A familiar voice said from behind you. Turning you came face to face with Rooster. He wore one of his signature Hawaiian shirts, a bunch of flowers in one hand and a book in the other.
“Mum always told him that Mav was good with me as a kid. Apparently, he was one of the only people that could stop me from crying if I had a tantrum.”
“I still can.” Mav joked, gently placing your son back into his arms before greeting Rooster. Once Mav headed over to talk to Phoenix and Bob, Rooster approached you.
“How is the little troublemaker getting on?”
“He's good. Keeping us on our toes but we wouldn't have it any other way.” You looked down adoringly at your little boy, who was still peacefully sleeping in your arms.
“And more importantly, how are you feeling, (y/n)?” He placed his hand on your arm supportively.
“I'm tired and still a little sore, but mainly I'm just relieved.” you smiled up at him. “I wanted to thank you for everything the other night, Bradley. I know that we couldn't have done it without you, Jake especially. I'll never be able to repay you for it but just know that it meant everything to him that you were there.” You gave him a side hug, careful not to wake the sleeping baby in your arms. Bradley hugged you back gently, placing a soft kiss on your head.
“Honestly, it was nothing. I’d do it all again in a heartbeat, anything for my wingman. Although I hope I never have to. Keep out of trouble, (y/n).”
You nodded, “Thank you, Bradley.”
You stood together silently for a moment before Bradley realised he was still holding the gifts. “Oh, these are for you,” he handed you the bunch of flowers in his hand. They were stunning, a mix of all different colours.
“Oh thank you, you didn't have to.” you told him. “Jake, could you pop these in some water for me?” you asked, passing the flowers to your husband.
“Sure,” he took them from you and placed a kiss on your cheek, before turning to Bradley.
“Hey, Chicken.”
“Hey, Bagman.” The two men greeted each other with a hug before Jake disappeared into the kitchen.
“I umm... I also bought this. It was something my Mum and Dad did for me when I was little and I've treasured it ever since my Dad died. I just thought you could keep all his memories and pictures in here and if anything happened...” he stopped himself seeing your worried face. “Not that anything will. I will look after Jake with my life if I have to. I just thought that if anything did, at least he will have all his memories of Jake in here.”
Bradley handed you the book and you sat down in the chair, placing it carefully on your lap. It was a brown leather photo album.
Engraves on the front in gold letters read:
‘Baby Seresin’s photo album’ and underneath it read: ‘Callsign - Troublemaker.’
You gasped, placing your hand over your mouth, tears filling your eyes.
“Bradley, this is beautiful. I can't believe it... I love it, Bradley, thank you.”
You stood up, embracing him tightly as a few tears escaped down your face.
“Hey Bradshaw, are you upsetting my wife,” Jake called jokingly, coming over to join you. You showed Jake the album, trying to dry your eyes. Jake stared at it silently and you watched as a few tears slid down his cheek.
“Roo, I...” he choked out, trying to find the right words. Bradley could sense how choked up his friend was and placed a hand on Jake’s shoulder.
“It's ok, Jake. I know.” Jake nodded and pulled Bradley into a hug.
“Thank you, brother,” he mumbled into Bradley’s shoulder. The two men embraced before pulling apart and Jake composed himself. You could see the look that passed between them, it was something more than just friends. You always understood the importance of having a wingman and that when they were flying Jake and Bradley always looked out for each other. Bradley was as much part of the Seresin family as his namesake.
“Ok enough of the chitchat. When are we going to find out this little guy's name? I know it's a good callsign, but I feel like we can't keep calling him ‘Troublemaker’ forever.” Phoenix exclaimed from across the room, pointing amusingly at you and Jake. “Spill the beans.”
With your son resting in your arms, you took your husband's hand, squeezing in gently.
“Should we tell them?” You asked.
“YES!” a chorus of shouts filled the room as the crew gathered around.
“Well,” Jake began, clearing his throat. “(Y/n) and I came up with so many names but when it came down to it, there is only one name that we felt would truly fit him. So everyone…”
“Meet Bradley!” You both said together, excitedly revealing your son's name to the group. Everyone was silent until Bradley spoke up.
“You… you called him Bradley. You named him after me.” His voice was shaky and you could see the unshed tears glistening in his eyes.
“Yes, Brad. After everything, it’s the least we could do.” Bradley nodded slowly, a large smile growing across his face. You both grinned back at him. Jake wrapped his arm around your waist, pulling you into his side.
“Thank you, Bradley.” He said, smiling gratefully at his wingman.
“You’re welcome.” With that little Bradley let out a small cry before he unleashed an earth-shaking wail. You began to rock him gently, trying to comfort him.
“I think your namesake wants you, Roo,” Phoenix said, resting a hand on his shoulder.
“His name is perfect, (y/n).” She said, smiling at you.
Bradley held out his arms and you carefully placed your son into them. He rocked the baby slowly back and forth, humming the song that Mav had earlier. The little boy’s cries became quieter until they were just whimpers. “Well, little man, I think we are going to have a lot of fun. Don’t you, ‘Troublemaker’.” Little Bradley cooed, lifting his tiny hand and wrapping it around Bradley’s thumb.
The rest of the squad was congratulating the Seresins, but Jake wasn’t paying much attention, he was too busy watching his wingman with his son. The two most important men in his life shared a very special moment. Jake knew he’d won the jackpot when Rooster became his wingman, but he didn't realise that he was also going to gain a best friend and godfather to his son as well.

*You and Peter are outside*
Peter- Well, I've showed you just about everything...except one thing. I saved the best for last. *Peter had the biggest smile on his face*
*15 Minutes later*
*You and Peter come crashing to the ground and roll. Thankfully the couch broke your fall and Peter landed on his feet.*
Y/N- okay that was AMAZING!!
Peter- See what I mean!?!? And Tony says swinging from the rafters is dangerous. *You and Peter laugh*
Y/N- Thanks Peter.. that was a lot of fun! *You give Peter a hug and you start to walk away*
Peter- Hey want to see something else..
Y/N- Sure! *Peter leads you downstairs into a big room. Lights come on as you walk in. You realize it's Tony's workshop* Wow, this is so cool, but are you sure it's okay for us to be in here. *Peter smiles and leans in closer as he whispers*
Peter- Yeah, it's totally fine.
Tony- Actually it's not *Tony appears between you and Peter. You and Peter jump and yell because you thought you were alone* but I needed to talk to you anyway so whatever, follow me! *Tony rolls away and heads back to the group. You and Peter follow him. You and Peter catch up to Tony and follow him into the conference room.*
Tony- okay now that everyone is here we can start. *You go stand next to Bucky and he notices you have a cut on your arm from where you and Peter fell earlier.*
Bucky- what happened?!? *He holds your arm and looks you over. You look and laugh a little.*
Y/N- oh I didn't even notice! It's nothing! I must have scratched it when me a Peter fell. *You brush off his concern.*
Bucky- fell?? From where? *He raises his voice slightly*
Y/N- The rafters. *You answer, not knowing the chaos you would cause. Everyone expresses their concern*
Bucky- excuse me?!? *He looks you over from head to toe, checking your eyes and fussing over you. You laugh and push him off a little.*
Y/N- We were swinging from the rafters using his Web- *You see Peter motioning you to stop talking, he groans as Tony whips his head around to Peter.*
Tony- you were what?!? Kid how many times have I told you this isn't a jungle gym. One wrong placed web could bring this whole place down. You've lost your web privileges for a week! Hand them over! *Peter sighs and tosses his web shooters over to Tony.*
Peter- you know you've already taken them away 3 times this week and I just keep making more.
Tony- Fine make it two weeks *you laugh to yourself as Bucky continues to look at your cut*
Bucky- this is pretty bad, y/n. W need to get this fixed. *Thor looks over your shoulder.*
Thor- I agree with metal arm. *You turn around and toss Thor an annoyed glance. Someone walks in behind you all*
Clint- ahh she's survived worse. *He stands there, arms crossed and just smiling. You beam and walk over, giving Clint a hug*
Y/N- hey old man! How are you?!? *Clint laughs and hugs you back.*
Clint- Hey! You might want to look at who your boyfriend is before you start calling me an old man.
Bucky- Hey Clint * He smiles and shakes Clint’s hand*
Clint- Got a call from Nat and Tony asking me to come in, so what's up? *Tony clears his throat loudly, everyone glances at him*
Tony- Now that the groundings, punishments, and reunions are done can we get back to the reason I called this meeting, yes? *He looks at everyone and nods* Awesome! *A map pops up with at least 50 red dots all over the world. You sigh and Bucky squeezes your shoulders*
Y/N- Hydra?
Tony- yes and I'd say last night was a pretty good indication they want you back or dead. *Steve moves closer*
Wanda- So we take them all down before they can get Y/N. *She looks at you and you smile*
Thor- Just like before. *Thor agrees*
Sam- except this time we will have two people who know Hydra inside and out. *Steve shakes his head and stands up.*
Steve- No, there is no way y/n is about to go walk into a Hydra camp. The whole point of her being with us is for them to not know where she is. We don't need to parade her around for the world to see. *You glance at Steve and you start to speak when Nat speaks up.*
Nat- But she could be useful Steve- *Nat start to explain and Bucky cuts her off*
Bucky- yeah until they get her, then what?! I'm not kidding when I say she could make what I do look like child's play. *Bucky exclaims*
Peter- but you said for yourself she's fine- *Peter tries to chime in*
Clint- she still needs to stay safe. *Clint says finally*
Y/N- can I speak?!? *You say in outburst and everyone looks at you*
Tony-you have the floor Chai *He motions for you to fall and you roll your eyes as you smile*
Y/N- Look considering what happened last night I think I need to lay low for a while- *The guys interrupt you, directing their words to the ladies and Sam.*
Bucky/Steve/Tony- See, thank you! That's what I'm saying! Voice of reason. *You cut them off and shoot a glare their way.*
Y/N- not forever though. We should let last nights events settle and then I can join in the fight.
Nat/Wanda/Sam- Sounds good! We will need you! Awesome! *Tony rolls closer to Clint*
Tony- and that's why you are here Barton. We will be down one man for awhile so we will need you.
Clint- okay *He nods and grabs his bag.*
Steve- Alright, suit up. We leave in 20 minutes. *Bucky looks at you then looks at the cut on your arm again. You caress his face.*
Y/N- You know I've been through a lot worse. *Bucky knows you are referring to your fall from the plane and he can’t help but glare at you for bringing that up again.*
Bucky- don't remind me *He grumbles and he pulls you in close and kisses you* let's go clean this up.
Y/N- Yes Sir * you say in a mocking tone. You add a little salute for good measure. Bucky smirks before he laughs and throws you over his shoulder, he walks to his room. Steve sees and yells after him down the hall*
Steve- Buck! You don't have time for that! *Bucky just laughs and kicks open his door. Steve sends Peter to find Bucky. As he is walking into Bucky's room he hears you and Bucky in the bathroom.*
-Ouch Bucky!
-oh sorry *Bucky laughs* I thought you were ready
-no!
-does it hurt
-yeah *you laugh* but in a good way! *you kiss him and then gasp.* Whoa that's really deep.
-well, I gotta get in there *Bucky laughs again and you let out a scream. Peter is absolutely traumatized by what he has heard but he knows Steve is serious about the jet leaving any minute. So he knows he has to interrupt.*
Peter- Um guys, *his voice cracks* Steve said it's really time to go. *The bathroom door swings open and Bucky walks out. He smiles and pats his shoulder.*
Bucky- Hey could you finish up in here? Thanks kid *Peter peaks in and looks at you. He realizes Bucky was helping you clean up your cut and he can’t help but exclaim.*
Peter- oh thank God! *You look up at peter*
Y/N- what was that Peter? *You look up at him.*
Peter- oh nothing! *He blushes* Nothing. Okay let's bandage this and you should be good to go. *Peter bandages your arm while blushing the whole time. You watch him and smile as he works.*
Y/N- Thanks Peter you're the best! *You give him a kiss on the cheek* oh by the way, we knew you were outside the door. *you wink at him and walk away. Peter groans and then laughs. You and Peter get to the Jet just in time. As Peter walks on you can see Bucky and Steve teasing him about what just happened in the Bathroom. You yell to Bucky and Steve*
Y/N- Play nice!! *Bucky and Steve look at each other and then look at you*
Bucky/Steve- We always do! *The door to the jet closes and they fly away.*
Tumblr media
*For the next 3 months while you are laying low the Avengers go on mission after mission. They take down one Hydra base after another. When they get home you always have a little celebration for them and when you and Bucky are alone you two always have a little special celebration of your own.*
Y/N- Lock the door *you say breathlessly as Bucky rips off your clothes*
Bucky- Too many clothes *Bucky picks you up and takes you to the bed. He kisses you all over and makes his way down your stomach. He takes extra time in between your legs. He is the definition of a tease, it has been 3 weeks since you had seen him last and he wants to savor every moment of this reunion.*
Bucky- Tell me what you want. *he says as he is still pleasuring you with his mouth. Your arch of the bed and moan between breaths*
Y/N- I. want. you! *Everything he is doing feels so good it's hard for you to speak, he smiles. Bucky kisses his way up your body till he gets to your lips*
Bucky- I can do tha- *You cut him off*
Y/N- in the shower. *You smirk against his lips and Bucky looks at you with a devilish grin*
Bucky- as you wish *Bucky picks you up from the bed and takes you to the bathroom. The room was filled with steam in a mater of minutes. The water hadn't been turned on yet. He sets you on the counter while he turns on the water. Bucky comes back and picks you up, carry’s you into the shower. The water was freezing at first but it quickly heated up. He used everything he could think of to pleasure you, his hands, his mouth, himself. Even the detachable shower head and you came every. single. time. You tried to return the favor but he wouldn't let you. Bucky kept saying he wasn't finished with you yet. God you loved this man so much, by the time Bucky was done with you the water was freezing again. You don’t care, you have Bucky and that's all that matters. Bucky helps dry you off and get ready for bed. And you need the help, your legs are so shaky you can hardly stand.*
*Bucky has a soft side that very few people know about but when you two are alone he always lets his guard down for you. You are laying in bed and Bucky has his arms around your waist*
Bucky- I just wish we could end all the fighting. I know I am no longer the Winter Soldier but sometimes when I fight I can feel him trying to break free. *Bucky stops talking, you turn over to look at him and even in the dark you can tell he is crying. You snuggle into his chest and run your hands over his back just the way he likes.*
Y/N- Bucky I understand and it's okay. I feel the same way about Odette. We can get through this together. *you look up and kiss Bucky* You are no longer the Winter Soldier, He is gone, just keep reminding yourself of that.
Bucky- Well, *he gives you another devilish grin* he's not completely gone. *He smirks and rolls over on top of you, kissing you. He looks at you with a killer smirk as he grinds a little against you.* Ready to Comply, Soldier? *You giggle and even though you start to ache for him at the sound of his voice and that phrase you know you both needed to sleep*
Y/N- I just complied for the last 2 hours, so let's just sleep. *Bucky laughs and leans in to kiss you but stops and gets very serious for a moment*
Bucky- I love you so much, Y/N. I don't know what I would do without you. *He brushes his thumb across your lips.*
Y/N- I love you too, Bucky. *He kisses you and then settles back down behind you. You both snuggle in and go to sleep*
Tumblr media
*The next morning you are so sore. Bucky teases you about it before he picks you up and carries you downstairs to get breakfast. He puts you down right outside the kitchen door and you hear Tony talking to Sam, Steve, and Nat.*
Tony- I knew I should have splurged for the sound proofing in every room. *He rubs his temples*
Sam- For real man, *Sam groans* like damn we get it you're really into each other but I don't need to know when you're actually into each other. *Nat gasps and wacks his arm.*
Nat- Eww Sam, we knew what you meant you didn't have to- *Sam turns on Nat*
Sam- oh don't even get me started on you two *Sam points to Nat and Steve.* Steve's all "I can do this all day", ya nasty! *Nat rolls her eyes and Steve blushes. Tony groans as he looks up to the sky*
Tony- I just hope Peter and Morgan were asleep by the time they started- god, the nightmares those kid would have. *Peter shouts from the other room*
Peter- I wasn't! And I wouldn't call them nightmares. *you and Bucky look at each other and try not to laugh. He motions to you to head back upstairs and you shake you head. You walk right into the kitchen with no shame*
Y/N- Hey guys! How did everyone sleep last night? *you grab an apple and walk towards Bucky* I know I was exhausted and super sore *You give Bucky a love tap on his butt and a wink as you walk back out of the room. Bucky lightly laughs and turns to look at you and you leave. He then looks at everyone*
Bucky- we will keep it down next time. *He starts to leave the room when Tony calls after him*
Tony- that's all I ask, think of the children Barnes, the children! *Peter shouts from the other room again*
Peter- This child will sleep with earplugs so go crazy. *Everyone busts out laughing, Tony rolls his eyes. Bucky just shrugs.*

Pairing: Pavitr Prabhakar x Reader Summary: (From This Ask) Reconnecting: You and Pavitr were childhood besties, yet in-between your friendship, you had to move away. You guys were still in touch as well, but little did Pavitr know you decided to surprise him by finally moving back to your hometown where you and Pavitr used to live. 🎵 🎶 The sight of you lit me up Could not believe my luck Now I know where I need to be Home is where you are 🎵 🎶 Song by Ant Utama A/N: Google says "meri jaan" can be used to refer both your gf/bf and your friends too(?), so if it's not so irl, just assume they're comfy w/ it 😅😅😅 LOL
Pavitr Prabhakar -or Pavi, as you often call him- has been your bff since childhood.
Stuck at the hip, running around doing mischeif and pleading your parents to allow just 5 more minutes playtime.. Oh, those were the days! A chuckle slips your lips when you remember that even as a child, he was proud of his hair.
You remember vividly, back when you guys first met. Pavitr's hair was wild and curly and all over the place, bouncing with his every step. It was physically untamable for him. He was fussing with it and you, having watched him for quite a while, offered to help him keep it in place with a messy pigtail and putting all your hairclips on him. It didn't help much but little Pavitr had been very grateful, a big smile pulled across his face.
That was in kindergarten.
Growing up, you became the closest of friends -and the most chaotic. There was no one in school who hadn't heard of the infamous micheif-makers, the prankster pair. Prank wars 24/7 and very concerning to the school board.  It was even more hectic when they tried to put you guys in different sections to discipline you. You threw a tantrum, he spilled food everywhere as all the other kids joined in; it was sort of a mutiny you guys had started. The headmistress then decided it was best for everyone to not separate you two and let you guys be in the same class thereon on the condition that there will be no more horsing around.
Things finally went back to normal and all was going well.. until your parents got a transfer.
You remember that day, when your parents said you were going to move. Initially, you had been over the moon, not knowing that it meant leaving Pavitr for good. God, you were so naive. But when it finally  dawned on you that this is where your friendship will possibly end, you ran to his house and cried to him. Pavitr shared your sentiment; he loved as much as you loved him and separating you guys just was wrong.
Whenever there's something scary at night or if he hears weird sounds that frighten him, Pavitr used to hide under the bed until it goes away. He suggested you do the same. So there you both were, crouching  under his tiny bed and staying there sharing stories and whatever 11 year olds talk about.
Uncle Bhim did find you soon enough and called your worried parents. A lot of kicking and screaming and yelling 'I don't wanna goooooooo!' while your parents dragged your naughty butt to the new home, practically ripping your hand away from Pav's.
It had been a bit too dramatic, now that you think about it, though a little funny too.
Pav had been crying for a week after you left, just like you, and every night for a month, Uncle Bhim would let him call you and speak. Then school began, and you drifted apart.
______
You stepped out of the airport and raised a finger, calling for a taxi.
It's been 10 years now. A decade since you and Pavi last saw each other in person. Sure, you stay in touch via video calls and social media but nothing beats physical connection.
You've graduated and found a new internship at your dream company that requires you to stay in Mumbattan. What else do you need? To say you were happy would be an understatement.
Dropping your things at your own apartment, you take the cab straight to Maya auntie's as he's still staying here to take care of her. (Hope she still likes pranks!)
The elderly woman is the first to greet you, full of joy, her aged eyes shining with tears of sentiment. "Oh, mera beta!"
You let her wrap you in her embrace and hug you close. Maya auntie shares your tears, giving a moment of respectful silence to Uncle Bhim. It's hard to digest his death when you loved him like your own father.
After pleasantries are exchanged, you're about to ask about him when doubt creeps upon you. Sure, you've talked a lot but.. Does he still feel the same way about you, or is it the version of you in his head? Does he still value your friendship like before? Or were you just a passing cloud? A chapter in his book? Just a childhood memory and nothing more?
But most importantly, has he found someone else more worthy of his time?
Maya auntie, always as perceptive as ever, sees the hesitation in your eyes and encourages you to give him a surprise, assuring you that, of course, nothing is more important to him than your friendship.
With renewed confidence, you walk into Pavitr's room. He isn't there but you hear the water running. Assuming he's taking a bath, you take your time to look around the room.
The sky blue wall is a bit faded but it brings you happy memories. Same big old window from which you used to watch the city. Books, books and more books, some kind of gadget and a- is that spandex!? A Halloween costume, perhaps.
A framed picture is sitting on his desk, of your childhood selves holding hands, your front teeth missing, standing before Pavitr's apartment. It was the first time you had come over. Aww!
The cot is certainly larger than last time and you hide a chuckle when you think if you both can fit under this one.
Actually.... didn't Maya aunty talk about surprise?
Giggling like the mischievous child still inside you, you crawl under the bed. What you expected is to not fit under it, what you didn't expect is a red and blue hand-painted shoe box filled with little trinkets.
The lid is open, so you're not actually intruding on his privacy.. (Right?)
The box is filled with shiny stuff and upon inspecting one, you realise these are the same gifts that you gave Pavitr a decade ago. He.. he still cherishes them? Your heart swells.
A glittery red paper heart catches your eye but you don't remember giving it to him. Sloppy cursive runs in gold glitter:
"I threw my plans all away So that I could hear you say You love me, yes, you want me The sight of you lit me up Could not believe my luck Now I know where I need to be Home is where you are
I miss you meri jaan 💔 "
It takes a moment before you realise it's from him. He'd written it to you before you moved but never actually came around to giving it.
Oh, oh God, Pavitr loves you!
Tears of joy gislten in your eyes. You did have a similar thought once,  but dismissed as soon as it came. You would never believe if someone told you Pav had had feelings for you. And seemingly, still does.
A greeting card falls out, a dried rose attached to it. It was written on last Valentines day:
"A little birdie told me you wished for a Knight in shining armour. Now that I'm here, what are your other two wishes, meri jaan? ;P"
Wet thuds sound and you look up -wincing from the bump to your head- to see Pavitr come out of the bathroom, towel-drying his curly hair and dripping water everywhere.
"Looking swag as always, Pav!", he says, making finger guns to his reflection, flaunting his amazing hair as he runs a hand through his damp curls. And, wow, it's grown longer!
The moment you try to scare him from under the bed, he stiffens and turns around cautiously. Grabbing a cricket bat, he curls his other hand into a mudra. (Is he going to spiritualize you to the death??)
"Who is it? Whoever you are, better come out or else-!"
"Or else, you'll crouch under the bed?"
He drops the cricket bat, frozen in pleasant shock.
You're struck speechless too, lost in his eyes. Wow, Pavitr has.. grown. He's so very handsome, much more than you remember. You gasp softly, mesmerized by his beauty.
"O-Oh my god, N/N?!"
He engulfs you in an embrace, hugging to tight to his chest. His wet cheek rests cool against your warm skin, so close you can smell his shampoo. "Ah, I can't believe it! Meri jaan, is it really you? H-how-?"
"A little birdie told me you wished for a Knight in shining armour. Now that I'm here, what are your other two wishes.. meri jaan?"
It takes him less than a second to realise you'd read his card. "Oh God, you read that!?" He blushes terribly, pressing his face into the crook of your neck as he stumbles over his words. It's cute to see him flustered.
The laughter dies but your smile stays.
"Y/n", his breath is hot in your ear, "may I.."
Your heart beat quickens, stuttering with every stretching moment. Every breath you take is growing heavy.
"Yes..?"
Your noses touch. He's close, so close..
Suddenly, he twirls you around and begins to sing:
"The sight of you lit me up Could not believe my luck Now I know where I need to be Home is where you are!"
Once you recover, you try to hit him in the chest for playing you like that, but he's quicker. You giggle, laughter erupting from your throat as he hugs you from behind, pecking your cheek like he used to do all those years ago as you sing along.
It may be unspoken, but it exists. He's never forgotten, nor have you.
"Now I know where I need to be Home is where you are!"

hope you enjoyed it!

For the Sake of a Smile (v.2) Chapter Nine
Title: For the Sake of a Smile (Revised)
Overall Rating: Mature (18+)
Chapter Rating: T for teen.
Trigger warnings: Nothing beyond the child abuse hinted in the series, though we do explore the consequences a bit more.
Main Pairing: Balam Shichiro/Reader
Summary: Hell on earth was your motto for your job. Granted, you were pretty sure earth really was hell, considering the shit you had seen in your life. And the fact your coworker was a child.
A child named Suzuki Iruma, in fact. A kid who’s life was decidedly worse than yours, but yet he smiled despite everything. It wasn’t long after meeting him that you decided you’d do a lot for his smile. Including summoning a literal demon and signing your soul away.
But as it turns out, hell (The Netherworld, actually) was a lot better than living on earth. Demons were more humane than a lot of humans you knew.
And Iruma’s smile wasn’t the only one that would change your life.

The rest of the final day had been an insane whirlwind, making you bite your nails as you kept an eye on Iruma as well as the rest of the Misfit teams. It had been a stressful race to the deadline, and you had feared that despite all of it, Iruma and Lied hadn't won.
Only for Jazz to protest, sealing their victory.
When you saw Iruma, you automatically broke out into a run. The boy barely had time to prepare before you snatched him up in a crushing hug.
"Mom!" He squeaked as you squeezed him tightly, causing you to reluctantly release him.
"I'm sorry, I'm just so excited for you!" You explained as you took a step back. And while you were excited for him, that was only partially the reason for the urge to fuss over him.
You didn't want to explain how terrified you had been, or how you still had those dark feelings of being a failed parent. They were pushed deep away in the corner of your mind, but still hung around like a dark shadow.
His beaming smile eased some of the anxiety before Iruma closed the distance between you to give you a bearhug. You quickly reciprocated the hug, and went as far as to press a kiss to his messy blue hair. "I'm so proud of you, kiddo. So very, very proud."
"Thank you," He answered quietly, face still pressed tight against your shoulder. "Thank you so much for being my mom."
Your heart squeezed in your chest as tight as you squeezed him, words failing you. How do you even respond to that, especially in public? You wanted to cry, to tell him how honored you were, how much you loved him. How much it meant to you to hear him say that.
"Hey, I helped too, Ms. Suzuki!" Lied chimed in with a teasing tone.
You pulled away from Iruma once again, covering Iruma as he rubbed his eyes while you focused on the blonde demon. "You're right, you did!" You grinned before pulling him in for a hug as well. "I'm proud of you too! Both of you did an amazing job!"
Lied's face was a bright red, though you didn't miss the almost-bashful smile on his face after he pulled away. "Of course we did! Lil' bro and I make the best team."
"Oh? Lil' bro?" That was news to you, and you were about to playfully grill the two about it before Clara seemed to appear out of nowhere, wrapping her arms around your shoulders as she pounced on your back.
"Iru-mama!"
Soon the whole Misfit class was swarming both the 'young kings' of the Harvest Festival as well as yourself.
You couldn't help but compliment all of them on their strategies and attempts to win the festival, earning varied flustered but glowing smiles at your praise. They all did their best, and you could easily see how much they had grown stronger underneath the special tutelage given to them.
And while Iruma would always hold a special part of your heart, you were filled with that maternal pride for all of them. You didn't care what others may think, but the Misfit class certainly stood above the rest of the students in their year, and you couldn't wait to see what they accomplished next.
--+--
The end of the Harvest festival was celebrated with a large banquet. The dining hall of the first year tower filled with students, faculty, and of course - food. Everyone was enjoying the break, the excuse to let loose and have fun.
Except you.
Within minutes of arriving, you realized Momonoki and Rami were hunting you for the infamous ‘girl talk’. You had barely escaped them the first time, and felt like a mouse being hunted by two starving cats.
Yes, you had vowed to set the record straight, but that was before everything became a wild mess. You were in no state to confront those two.
So, despite your reservations, you searched out Balam in the crowd, knowing he would help you without question - hopefully, at least - because you really didn't want to explain to him why you were so determined not to talk to the two tonight.
As it turned out, Kalego was standing close to Balam and apparently using him to ward off others as well. A small part of you balked, worried how the other teacher would react to your situation, but you had no other alternative.
"Please, hide me!" You begged as you approached, glancing left and right for a hint of pale blue or deep violet.
"What?" Kalgeo answered for Balam, though the taller demon seemed just as confused by your desperate plea.
But there was no time to explain. Not when you caught sight of Momonoki's signature ponytail next to Raim's horns. Without hesitating, you ducked between the two male demons and hid between them and the wall.
"Speak of the devils," Raim's voice carried as she approached, and you could only press closer to Balam - hoping you were out of sight. "Have you two seen our little librarian running around here?"
"We haven't," Kalego answered as he stepped closer to Balam, surprising you. You hadn't been expecting him to cover for you so easily. "She likely went home, seeing how the Chairdemon and Opera are absent."
"Hmmm, maybe," Momonoki replied after a moment, sounding somewhat convinced. "She doesn't socialize much - well, at least the rest of the faculty. You're pretty chummy with her, aren't you, Balam?"
Your blood ran cold at the insinuating tone in her voice. Oh god. No, no, no.
"I suppose," Balam answered. "We do share an interest in imaginary creatures. She actually has some interesting thoughts! From what she had studied, she believes that the human realm's avians are related to ancient dragons called 'dine sars'. Which, considering the close relationship between the Netherworld dragons and bird-types, I…"
"I think I hear my students calling me," Raim interrupted, sounding rather frantic. "Come on, Momonoki!"
You waited until you could feel Balam relax before peeking your head around his side carefully. His hand rested on your hair, ruffling it reassuringly as you looked up at him.
"And they call me antisocial," Kalego sighed, sipping at his glass. "At least I don't actively hide from my peers."
"Any other time, I would argue that," You shot back; wanting to defend your actions but at the same time, not wanting to mention The Rumor to them if at all possible. "But… I never had female friends before. They kinda scare me."
That wasn't quite the truth, but they both seemed to accept it.
"They can both be intense at times," Kalego acknowledged. "Of course that never seemed to stop you befo--"
His words were cut off by a sudden flash of light as he disappeared, and across the hall there was a loud cheer of 'Eggy-Sensei!' by many students.
"Oh dear," Balam sighed. "I guess Iruma must have Summoned him."
You could only imagine how upset Kalego was, or wonder what could convince Iruma to summon his familiar. But, those thoughts were quickly pushed aside with the more pressing matter that you were once again alone with Balam.
Okay, so the hall was packed with students and teachers alike, but none particularly close by. Before, it would have never bothered you. Hell, you would have preferred it; though you didn't mind Kalego's company either.
Yet with The Rumor repeating itself in the back of your mind like a broken record, it made you especially nervous. Was everyone noticing you two standing together, and that once again Balam's hand was in your hair as you remained overly close to him? Were they gossiping and whispering about the relationship between you?
"Were you able to see the Legendary Leaf?" He asked, dragging you out of your thoughts.
"Er, not before it transformed," You answered. "I heard it looked like a Salamander flower with an even dopier expression on its face."
Balam pulled his phone out, and from your vantage point you could see the gallery of saved images: many cute looking animals surrounded by the forest.
You probably should have stepped away from him - put more space between you - yet it was too hard. Not when he was happily going over the different animals in the pictures, like the Patched Cows with a calf, or a whole nest of Snuggling Squirrels.
Then near the end was a long series of what you presumed was the Legendary Leaf; a black, very dopey looking… thing. You really didn't know how else to describe the chubby creature at the end of a long, thin stem; Its eyes almost cartoonishly out of focus.
"No one has seen the Legendary Leaf since it was created," Balam explained as you studied the picture. "Lord Derkila left the Seed of Beginning and the Pot of Ending with the school for the Harvest Festival shortly before his disappearance with strict instructions on how it was to be hidden. In the decades that have followed, no one has been able to cause the Legendary Leaf to bloom - or even find the two objects."
It only made you even prouder of Iruma - which you hadn't thought was possible.
Speaking of which, he flipped to the next picture and froze. It was a shot of you hugging Iruma and Lied, sakura petals drifting in the air around you.
"I, uh, well," He started, face turning pink again when you looked up at him.
"I love it, could you send that to me?" You reassured, though felt your own face heating up as well, the tempo of your heart increasing its pace.
Once again, The Rumor whispered in your ear. But…would it be so bad, being in a relationship with Balam?
No, you would love to have a more intimate relationship with him. More than anything, you wished that was possible.
It was your rational mind that reminded you that you were separate species and that he was well aware of that fact; any possible signs of his attraction could be explained away as an enthusiast studying and learning more of their passion. His skinship habit meant any physical touches could have an entirely platonic meaning.
You were reading way too much into this - The Rumor and your own feelings affecting your perspective.
You didn't want to ruin the friendship that had developed between you. Plus the fact you hadn't realized how touch-starved you had been until now, and the thought of being devoid of his friendly touches made your heart ache. Even if they were platonic with no other motive, you loved being able to be so easily physically affectionate.
You were going to kill Sullivan and Opera when you got home for ruining this.
"O-of course! I'd be happy to." He quickly busied himself with sending the image, and you took the opportunity to take a step away - putting space between you and him as you scanned the crowd for lingering eyes.
Who else had heard? Who else was presuming you were in a relationship with Balam?
Did they frown upon it, as Momonoki implied they would? Or did they silently encourage it?
And really, what did your fake backstory matter to them? Did the Netherworld really not have single mothers, or did they not look for a second significant other after their first? It seemed odd, considering how their other social aspects seemed more progressive. But they were also very hierarchical.
Was that an issue? The fact you were 'unranked' and he was rank eight--Khet, if you remembered correctly. Was that the equivalent of a pauper and a lord forging a relationship?
Not that it would ever happen….
Your phone beeped startling you out of your thoughts to the point you actually jumped a bit.
"Are you alright?" Balam asked when you fumbled with your phone, saving the picture he had sent you. "I can understand not wanting to be roped into a conversation with Momonoki and Raim, but… you seem very on edge."
"It's nothing!" You quickly defended, sidestepping to avoid his hand as he reached out to reassure you. The expression on his face - or at least what you could see - about broke you, but… you couldn't give The Rumor more fuel than you already had. "Its-its nothing. I'm just, uh, worn out after everything. Could you tell Iruma I'll see him when he gets home if he happens to ask?"
Without waiting for an answer, you rushed towards the exit. You hated this, hated the confusing mess of thoughts and feelings rattling around in your head. Hated the fact it could irreparably damage your relationship with Balam.
You were going to kill Sullivan and Opera.
-+-
Balam watched you leave, the Buzzer ability ringing in his ears.
There was definitely something wrong, he could tell that even without his bloodline ability. Was it just nerves left over from the Harvest Festival? Or was something else going on?
Whatever it was, he hoped it passed soon, and things went back to normal. He wouldn't be so preoccupied with tutoring Asmodeus and Sabnock, so he was eager to spend more time with you…
Granted, with the fall molt approaching, maybe that wasn't such a wise idea…
--+--
The doors slammed open with a thunderous boom when you reached home. "Sullivan!" You yelled. "Opera!"
Both froze, mid-decorating the entrance hall for Iruma. "Yes, princess?" Sullivan answered warily, taking in your enraged expression.
"What the actual fuck?!" You swore, slamming your overnight bag down--things you had needed in the forest. "Why?! Why would you do that?"
"Well, mainly it was just to give you and Balam a little nudge," Sullivan replied meekly, eyes downcast as his hands knitted together in embarrassment.
Yet despite his reaction your fury barely calmed. "A nudge?! Why? We-we're just friends. There is nothing between us!" You gestured wildly as you paced the hallway, the anxiety and frustration bubbling and demanding release. "Yet now I'm sure half the school thinks otherwise! You do realize that Raim and Momonoki both love to gossip, right? Hell, I'm new here and I already know that!"
While Sullivan was chastened by your anger, Opera - as always - barely seemed fazed. "You both are obviously fond of each other. More than allies usually are. You both just need to realize and admit it."
"I may be fond of him, but we all know Balam. He isn't going to be interested in me like that. He's fully aware that I'm human! He's never going to see me as anything more than a source of knowledge for the earthly realm. Some weak but priceless creature to fuss over and protect." By the end of your tirade, you had worked yourself into a rather hysterical panic; all the stress, fears, and anxieties pouring out. Tears stung your eyes, your heart pounding.
It both helped as well as pushed you closer to crying as Sullivan quickly gathered you into his arms, pulling you into a tight hug. "Oh, sweetheart, you don't actually think that, do you?"
"Yes! No - I don't know!" You answered, burying your face in the fluff of his collar. "I can't get my hopes up, or even take that risk. Everything is perfect as it is, I shouldn't want more."
"My sweet dear girl, that goes against everything a demon is," Sullivan said as he stroked your hair tenderly. "We constantly strive after our ambitions, and never settle for anything less. Look at Iruma, striving to be the best he can be. Don't let the fear of failing stop you from chasing what you desire."
You stayed silent as you clung to him, seeking that paternal reassurance while also mulling over his words. Ambition? As much as you loved the fact Iruma was able to adapt so well to the Netherworld, you found it so much harder to leave behind the lessons you had learned on Earth. Especially the lesson that you should be content with what you had, else your selfishness will cause you to lose it all.
How many times did you see others take risks and gamble because they wanted more, only to lose everything -- sometimes even their own life.
And you had more than you could ever dream of. How could you dare to risk this?
The door opened, causing you to pull away from Sullivan. Iruma looked confused by the half-decorated hall, and then you looked as if you were minutes from crying your eyes out.
"Mom?" He asked, and you quickly wiped your eyes and offered a smile.
"Hey, welcome home!" You opened your arms widely, as if you felt far happier than you actually did. "Heh, I, um, interrupted gramps and Opera from finishing their decorations. Sorry about that…."
Opera popped a confetti popper, trying to break the mood. Instead, tears gathered in Iruma's bright blue eyes and before you knew it, you and Sullivan were both pulled into a hug, his hand waving towards Opera to join in. Which, they did, with a very feline-like sigh - though their ears betrayed their happiness to be included.
"I'm happy to be home," He confessed, relieving your worries that your own tears had upset him."I-I'm just so happy to be home."
"We're happy you're home as well," Sullivan said softly, pulling everyone closer.
This. This was why you couldn’t take the risk. You had everything you needed right here.
--+--
Hours later, you retired to your room; happy to flop back on the plush bed, surrounded with the soft silence of home instead of the forest nightlife just outside the tent walls, faculty talking near constantly in the background.
Knowing that just down the hall, Iruma was safe and sound. Sullivan was close by, as was Opera. Everyone that had become like family.
Your peaceful rest was interrupted by a soft knock at the door before it cracked open. You looked up as Iruma poke his head. "Hey, um, can I come in?"
You quickly sat up. "Yeah, of course," You answered easily enough, though you couldn't help but worry. "Is something wrong?"
Iruma worried his lip as he walked over and sat on the edge of the extra large bed. "That's actually what I wanted to ask."
You tilted your head, keeping silent to encourage him to continue. He fiddled with his hands a little bit before taking a deep breath. "I noticed that tonight, both at the celebration and at dinner you've been… preoccupied. And it made me realize I've been so caught up with my friends and everything, that we don't talk like we used to. I miss that. And…" He trailed off, looking down at his lap. "And I worry that we're not as close as we used to be."
"Oh, honey," You sighed before scooting closer to him to pull him into a hug, resting your head on his. "It's nothing like that. I'm so happy you have friends now; that you're able to just be a kid and not forced into being an adult. As for what's been bugging me, it's nothing for you to worry about, okay?"
He leaned into your embrace. "But you used to tell me things that bothered you before; from coworkers, our boss, even just random things."
You smiled softly at that, twinging your fingers with his. Both sets bore scars from working in the factory, gutting fish all day. More than once, both of you nicked your fingers with the knives; from shallow cuts to deep ones.
His hands weren't shaped like yours, yet they looked a lot alike in that sense. A bond borne not of blood, but circumstances. Yet it ran deeper than you could even imagine.
"Remember when Boss wanted you to move to another station with that idiot? I can't remember his name now, but I do remember he couldn't tell Tuna from Carp. And I knew it was 'cause Boss wanted you to pick up his slack and do twice the duty."
Iruma chuckled a bit. "They could hear you outside the office, swearing up a storm worse than the sailors when they came in. Everyone was whispering about you being a mother hen again."
"Damn right I was being a mother hen!" You pulled back so you could smile down at him. "I wasn't about to let them misuse you any more than they already did. At least when you were with me, I could keep an eye on you! You go out on the ship one time, and here we are, in the literal Netherworld with our souls sold to a demon. But you know what?"
"What?"
You pressed a kiss to his forehead before smoothing down his unruly blue hair. "I wouldn't change one thing. You are the best thing that's ever happened in my life, and I will always be grateful for that."
Tears filled his eyes again, and he quickly threw his arms around you. You pulled him tight, rocking him lightly. "We may not be bound by blood, Iruma dear. But ever since day one, I think I’ve known deep down you were meant to be my son. It just took a deal with the devil to make it happen."
He snorted at that. "Grandpa is hardly the devil."
You sighed, smiled fading lightly. With Sullivan apparently happy to propagate The Rumor, you were beginning to wonder. Still, both he and Opera seemed to have good intentions.
The saying went 'the road to hell was paved with good intentions', though you weren't quite sure how that proverb stood when you were already in hell.
Because of your own good intentions.
Iruma sensed your thoughts wandering and pulled away. "...are you sure you won't tell me what's bothering you?” He asked softly, bringing your attention back to him.
Oh no.
He had his puppy's eyes in effect. His already large blue eyes somehow wider and more innocent - looking on the verge of hurt - and looking towards you for help. You tried to close your eyes, but the pleading expression was burned into your memory.
"It's just a rumor" You finally broke with a sigh. "Your wonderful grandfather thought he was being helpful when he and Opera kinda shared with a few of the faculty that Professor Balam and I are courting - or, er, dating."
The puppy-eyed expression disappeared, to your relief, and was replaced with mild confusion. "Wait, Grandpa and Opera started that rumor?"
Wait. "You've heard it already?" Oh, god. How far had it reached? Did the entire school know by now?!
"Maybe?" He offered, his cheeks turning pink. "I mean, the rest of my class have been wondering the same thing for a long time, to be honest…"
"What?!" You screeched.
"Well, everyone else is scared of Professor Balam except for Kalego. Even the other teachers seemed to avoid him. And then Sabnock and Asmodeus admitted tonight that you were frequently dropping by during their training…."
You hadn't even thought of that. Sullivan and Opera didn't need to say anything, apparently. You rubbed your face with a groan, wishing that you had heard that little fact tomorrow instead of today. Because now there was definitely no way you were getting sleep.
"To be honest, I was happy," Iruma continued after a moment, shocking you. You looked up and saw him smiling to himself as he looked down at his lap. "I mean, Professor Balam is one of the nicest people I've ever met. And I could tell you're really happy when you're talking with him. So, I’ve kinda been rooting for you two."
A thousand thoughts and emotions fought inside you, leaving you speechless for a long moment. "You… you don't think it's weird? A human and a demon?" You finally voiced softly.
He shook his head. "No! Not at all! And Professor Balam knows you’re human, and he's always so cautious around both of us. He'd take good care of you. Besides, there's no other humans down here but us, and I want you to be happy."
You wiped away the tears in your eyes and pulled him into another hug. "When did you get wise beyond your years yet again?"
"My mom taught me well," Was his muffled reply, making you squeeze him tighter.
"She could stand to listen to her own advice then, huh?"
--+-- Su-Ki-Ma--+--
The next morning you stumbled into the kitchen, drawn by the delicious smells.
You swore no one could cook like Opera, not even the amazing staff in the kitchens of Babyls.
Opera still wouldn't let you help much in the kitchens, but you had finally learned it wasn't because they were being possessive of the kitchen, they were apparently doing it more to protect you and the rest of the household from your attempts.
Cooking in the Netherworld required mana to make things edible, apparently. Iruma with his ring had just a bit of difficulty brewing tea, but it was drinkable; unlike your own mess.
"I was hoping you would be down," Opera stated as you plopped next to the small kitchen table as they quickly appeared with a steaming pot of tea. "I wanted to talk with you."
You made a noise to indicate you were listening, even if you weren't quite awake. To your surprise, Opera took the seat across from you, hand folded on the table and their yellow eyes piercing.
There was a brief moment of panic as you worried you had messed up somewhere; and while Sullivan was too kind to scold you, Opera certainly wouldn't have any qualms. Afterall, they were both Lord Sullivans right-hand as well as security demon.
"Shichiro, as well as Kalego, are my kohai," They started. "I'm not sure if humans have something similar to the term, but they are as precious to me as Lord Sullivan is."
Well, kohai - or underclassmen - were a thing in the human realm, but it varied culture to culture and you had a feeling it was far more significant here than where you were from. But you kept those thoughts to yourself and merely nodded your head.
"I wanted you to be aware that if I thought you would be a bad mate for Shichiro, I would not be participating in Lord Sullivan’s plans," They continued, making you flush and start to protest, to which they held up a hand to silence you. "I'm aware you aren't pleased with our interference, but let me continue. Shichiro is a very unique demon, to say the least, and I had thought he would be content with his role as a professor and guardian of Babyls. But I see now, it would take an equally unique person to catch his attention, as you have done."
"...you really think he's interested in me?" You quietly interrupted, and Opera gave a short nod.
"I've known him since his first year of Babyls when I took him and Kalego as my kohai. In the many years since, I have never seen him take such interest in a person. But, I digress. I had just wanted to assure you that your fears are unfounded, because if you weren't suited for him, I would be sure to make it clear."
That last bit… sounded rather like a threat, especially paired with unblinking eyes and annoyed twitch of their tail and ears.
"Okay," You answered meekly. "I-I'll be sure to keep that in mind."
They nodded again before standing. "And that I agree with Lord Sullivan, your children are going to be absolutely adorable. I'll have to contact his mother. Shichiro was extremely cute as a child - although a bit of a handful, if I remember her stories right."
They left you to gawk in silence as your mind was invaded by thoughts of children. With Balam.
"Can- can humans and demons even, you know, reproduce?" You squeaked without thinking, and earned a very slight smile from the feline demon.
"Legends say they can, but you know who the expert in that field is. Perhaps you should ask him."
Right. Balam was the expert in imaginary creature history. But… asking him…if humans and demons… could have kids.
That was even worse than asking him about courting.

Sixth, I think your getting tired of me, but I promise we're almost ending.
I don't know how you feel abt writing something like this, so if u don't want to, it's perfectly fine girl.
Hybrid AU, u decide if it's modern or canon, where reader is an animal hybrid (u decide the animal), and when she's in full animal form she meets Levi, who starts venting abt his feelings and sadness, and reader knows people get better w a pet around, so she sticks w him like his therapy animal, but she doesn't get the nerve to tell him she's a hybrid cuz he might react badly, until one day he just comes home and sees this lady sleeping in his bed w his clothes...
Sure thing. I've done Kitsune Levi and Wolf Levi a lot, along with Reader being that on Ao3. So, I'm happy to do something on here. I'll make reader a kitsune.
Little fox
Pairing: Levi x Kitsune!Reader
Genre and tags: Modern AU, romance, falling in love, fluff, Kitsune reader, Levi opening up about his feelings and life, happy ending.
Concept: You and Levi have been friends for a while and both of you have hidden feelings, but you won't be more than friends because of your secret. As you wander around near Levi's home in your fox form, you come across your friend. Levi thinks you're a beautiful white fox with little red patterns on your face. He welcomes you into his home and looks after you. As you hang around Levi he opens up to you about things going on in his life. Levi decides on something and rushes out of the house. When Levi returns, he finds you in your human form sleeping on his bed in his shirt with your fox ears still on your head.
You trotted around the town in your fox form with Levi on the brain. You both were close, but there were hidden things inside you both. You wanted to tell him the truth, but it was hard. You thought he'd reject you as soon as he knew the truth.
You stopped at the side of the road and looked both ways, then you crossed the road making a little kid giggle as you went past. You came to a stop when you saw Levi had watched you. You stopped right in front of him and swished your tail before turning and walking.
Levi ran after you. "Hey, wait! Tch, what kind of fox looks both ways before crossing?"
You walked up a hill with Levi chasing you. You sniffed around, then turned and walked over to a hill and enjoyed the view. You ran back to Levi trying to catch up and bit his jacket. You pulled him along to the hill and sat.
Levi frowned a little. "Uh...this is weird." He sat next to you. "But nice." He reached over and started petting you. "You're so soft." He frowned as he studied you. "You're a special fox. I'm surprised you're a wild fox."
You moved closer to Levi and licked his cheek making him jump. You lay down and used his lap as a pillow.
Levi stared down at you. "Cute." He let out a long sigh and looked out at the view. "You know, it's been a while since I've done something like this." He frowned a little. "There is something in my life that helps me slow down, but I don't spend enough time with her than I want."
You nudged his hand and hummed when he fussed you.
He smiled a little and said your name. "That's who I wish I could be around more. Something is off with us though, we're both hiding things." He sighed. "I'll tell her everything soon. I just need to figure out my feelings because it's all new to me."
You looked up at him.
He smiled down at you. "I like her a lot and I want to have moments like this with her a lot more. She helps me enjoy the world around me." He scratched under your chin. "I need to head home now." He stood up. "Sorry."
You followed Levi to his home.
Levi unlocked his door and looked back to see you. "Have you got a home?"
You stared at him.
He let out a long sigh. "I've never had a pet before..." He opened his door. "Come on in."
You trotted inside his place and went to his kitchen. You placed your paws on the counter and sniffed the sink.
Levi hurried over to you. "You want water?" He grabbed a bowl and filled it for you. "Here."
You waited for him to put it down before you drank from it.
"I have no idea what to feed you. I'm guessing you like meat..." He sighed. "I'll go out and get something for you. I'm going to sit and have a cup of tea."
You ran into Levi's living room and sat down.
Levi joined you with his tea. "I should have gotten a pet sooner." He sat down. "It's nice to have someone to talk to."
You rested your head on his lap.
He smiled and fussed you. "You know, my childhood on the outside might be seen as bad, but it was wonderful. We had no money, but my mum would make fun out of anything. She's a great woman and is a big fan of a certain lady in my life." He said your name and smiled. "They're sweet together."
You nuzzled his hand more.
He let out a long sigh. "I loved my childhood. I should have had more fun when I got to being a teenager instead of working as hard as I did. I pushed myself too much." He smiled sadly. "If I have kids, which I'd like to, I would teach them to have fun and make the most of their life and explore things." He blushed. "There's only one person I want kids with." He cleared his throat.
You watched him down some of his tea as you felt a little flustered. You wanted what Levi wanted as well, but you hadn't done anything together because you were a kitsune and you hadn't told Levi that yet.
Levi hummed a little. "I should ask her on a date." He stood up. "I'm off to get some food. I'll be back soon."
You watched Levi leave and waited a while before you explored his place. You finally went to his room and turned into a human, but it meant you were naked. You took some of his clothes and pulled them on so you weren't butt naked in his house.
You sat on Levi's bed and looked through his bedside book to see it was a book you had recommended to him. You yawned a little and ended up falling asleep on his bed curled up and comfy.
Levi entered his house and put everything away. He frowned a little and looked around his place, but the fox was nowhere. He climbed his stairs and entered his room to see you sleeping on his bed, in his clothes with fox ears on your head.
He walked closer to you and sat on the bed at your side. He reached over and fussed your fox ears making you hum in happiness. He called your name and saw you open your eyes. "You were the fox?"
You sat up quickly and felt panic rush through you. "L-Levi. I umm..."
"I'm not mad. I'm shocked."
You blushed and hugged yourself. "I'm...I'm a kitsune. I wanted to tell you for so long, but I thought you'd hate me. Plus, it's pretty unbelievable that I'm a damn fox." You welled up. "I had no idea I'd run into you today. I was just walking and I...I liked spending time with you. I'm sorry I lied to you."
Levi hugged you tightly. "Don't cry."
You clung to Levi. "But I kept this from you. I don't want you to think I'm manipulating you or anything. I care about you so much."
He pulled back a little so he could gaze at you. "I don't feel that you were manipulating me. I understand why you never told me. I mean, it's hard to believe, but seeing it I believe. You're a beautiful fox."
You blushed. "Thank you." You hummed. "About what you said to me...I umm...I want it all too and I feel the same. You mean everything to me and I wanted to tell you sooner that I like you, but it was hard with the fact I'm a fucking kitsune."
Levi played with your fox ears. "I'll love you no matter what. I love you for you and this is just...bonus information." He frowned a little. "Why are you wearing my clothes?"
"When I turn I'm naked."
Levi blushed hard. "Oh..." He gulped hard. "Right. Well, you make my clothes look great."
You giggled. "Thank you." You nibbled your lip. "So..."
"So...I...I want to go ahead with the whole date idea."
You smiled. "I want to as well."
He laughed a little. "Great!" He blushed at how excited he had sounded. "Great...so...can I kiss you?"
You nodded. "Please."
He leaned closer and kissed you with a happy hum. "So, is being a kitsune the reason why you're so warm and cuddly?"
"Yes."
He dragged you into his arms and held you. "I like it and I like you."

domesticity meme w/ leacheddie??
oh... THE married people... yeah ok here we go
big spoon/little spoon: leach obviously. she's 6'9 eddie is like, normal people height
favorite non-sexual activity: driving. they race down the highway. this is not safe. when they race eddie usually flies. but also they DO ride together on leach's motorcycle
who uses all the hot water: yeah that's also leach but she doesnt shower THAT often (lich things) so its usually not that much of a problem
most trivial thing they fight over: whether or not its healthy to drink mountain dew all the time. this USED to be a fight about monster energy, but eddie won that one too many times and now she only drinks monster for special occasions (or when she's upset. or when he can't see her)
who does most of the cleaning: eddie definitely does, he loves his wife but she is really not the cleanest person by FAR. not that he minds that much
what has a season pass on their dvr/who controls the netflix queue: neither they pirate. but in terms of picking movies and stuff eddie because leach insists that she doesn't care but really she just wants to hear him talk about the things that he likes
who calls up the super/landlord when the heat’s not working: if they don't call hewitt first, it's eddie but only because last time leach did it she almost got sued
who steals the blankets: eddie <3 he is small (in comparison) but he likes to be cozy <3
who leaves their stuff around: honestly? both of them. like, leach obviously but shes just like that EVERYWHERE. eddie is the one who actively gets things lost and she has to help him find it
who remembers to buy the milk: yeah also ed i mean im sure leach tries sometimes but she shows up with like... milk from 7/11...
who remembers anniversaries: LEACH. she might not look it but shes the biggest sap she never gets up early but she ALWAYS does on their anniversary. every single one of them. and theres a LOT of anniversaries bc theyre the type of couple that celebrates like, the day they fist kissed the day they had their first date their engagement etc etc
Who cooks normally? Eddie because last time leach tried to cook lets just say. it did not end well. he said it tasted good anyways and he genuinely believed it at the time. the power of love? i guess?
How often do they fight? almost never. when they do its resolved pretty quickly only because they seem to communicate silently since they've been doing this for like, forever
What do they do when they’re away from each other? Eddie embroiders and other stitch craft type things, Leach just sort of. hangs around empty places and fucks around for fun which gives her a Reputation around kc
Nicknames for each other? leach calls him Ed, but other than that not really
Who is more likely to pay for dinner? Eddie because if leach had her way they'd dine and dash every time after slipping cash to the waiter
What would they get each other for gifts? both things that are deeply personal and meaningful that they hold onto forever and reference things that have happened to them in their many lives and also like. here's a craft i made at the kids center and an acorn that reminded me of you. these also all get saved.
Who kissed who first? eddie <3 leach mightve done everything else first but he beat her to this one
Who remembers things? eddie usually but for some VERY specific things leach's mind is like a steel trap
Who started the relationship? leach but like, eddie didn't realize they were dating for WEEKS.
Who cusses more? leach obviously. but eddie curses WAY more than people expect him to
What would they do if the other was hurt? well. eddie dies in canon. i wrote a whole fic about that. but on a more minor scale leach fusses over him to no end, eddie does it too but WAY less than she does when he's hurt
Send me a pairing and i'll do this thing for them!

"The two of you married instead... I was so sure that you and Nancy were going to get together." I'm looking at Steve and Robin's hands. identical rings on each of their hands. On the right hand, they are married. Robin isn't shy about it, she shows off her rings coming over to me. Steve on the other hand is more focused on the fact that I'm here. Standing in front of him."We had a funeral for you and everything." It's hurt. The words are harsh and could cut right through the glass.
They're aren't tears in his ears, but there's some sort of relief all in the same sentence. "Rob, He's right here and standing in front of us and you're concerned with showing off that fake ass ring." Steve is harsh and mean. I can only imagine. Dustin will be throwing and chunking shit at me."Oh yeah, I got over that the second I saw him. What's the point of yelling at him, he looks like he hasn't aged a day. Let's just go. We're too old to be fuckin' yelling at each other." Rob yells back at her husband, at Steve.
He rolls his eyes. I open my arms. In an attempt at a friendly hug, Robin is there within seconds. Steve watches, "Come on you dingus." I hear Rob mutter from the side of her face. I open my arms again and make more room for him. He comes over slowly, there's a little bit of a limp in his left leg. He manages and makes his way into our hug. There's a relief that hits my chest. The urge to cry is strong, but instead of crying I breathe steadily.
I take in the time that Steve is giving the both of us. "What happened?" Steve whispers. I try to explain to come up with words, but a shrug is all I can give him and Robin. "Have you seen Dustin or any of the other kids?" I ask as Steve leaves the hug, Robin is still stuck. "Rob? Come on let the guy breathe." Steve fusses at her. I smile shortly at the way that they haven't changed a damn after nearly forty years.
"Sure we see Dustin all the time. His kids gosh they're like extremely like him. He tells them stories about the upside down all the time." Rob rattles off, Steve is back to rolling his. "Robin." He shouts, "Sorry." She apologizes but at who, I shrug my shoulders. "The other kids haven't left either. Everyone stayed right here. Dustin didn't want to leave after you disappeared. He felt like he wasn't doing the right thing, something about you being the best of friends and how you wouldn't dare leave if he had died." Steve says.
The three of us are standing in front of my uncle's grave. "What are you two doing here at the damn cemetery?" My thoughts running with the ADHD. Running back and forth between one and four different things. "Oh, we have to stop by and make sure that Steve's parent's grave look proper." Robin is pointing out a few rows forward, there's a huge mausoleum."We came to fix it up," Steve says coldly. I gather that he wasn't close to his parents. Close was the wrong word to pick. "They were dipshits and forced me and Robin to marry just so they would get the fuck out of my hair about how I wasn't married," Steve mumbles.
"Oh" Was all I could think of, so close was the worst word. "Steve’s parents were pricks," Robin says, she took the word right out of my head. I just shook my head. "We were at his funeral," Steve says simply as he looks down at Wayne’s grave. "Dustin was the one that told your uncle that you were gone. Dead. God Dustin gonna flip when he finds out you aren't dead. Oh shit Rob we have to go get Eds, Claire, and Beth from that camp class." Steve is rushing trying to grab Robins wrist.
"Hold on a fuckin' sec." She looks over at me. "We still live in Steve's house, it's brighter now. Come over in a few days. We can re-introduce you to everyone. Some people you never got the chance to meet too. I missed you, Eddie. Glad you're back." Rob says sweetly coming into my space and grabbing me tightly hugging me hard that it causes me to cough a little when she lets me go. Steve waves at me while the two of them walk away. I look down at Wayne’s grave.
"I should have figured that this shit would happen once I left Lilly’s trailer. I bet you're loooking down at me with absolute horror at the mess I've caused for myself." I can imagine his chuckle and the roll of his eye as he’d wave me off. There’s something that I just miss about my uncle. Wayne had been through everything with me. It’s hard to imagine that I wasn’t there for him when he needed it the most that some other person was there. Regardless though I guess I have to suck it up and be glad that someone was there for him.
The urge to sit down was strong. Sit down and not say a goddamn word just sit there in the warm air. “Wayne I wonder what your thoughts are on Y/n? She’s really pretty it’s hard sometimes for me to focus on anything other than that.” I whispered into the open air. Regardless of the answer that I thought I might have gotten from my uncle I never got an answer. Just the sounds of birds flying past and a few cars driving past the cemetery. I only sat on the grass for a few more moments. “I think I’ll go visit the kids if they even wanna see me.”
With that, I got up and patted the hard headstone that had my uncle’s name imprinted on the marble stone. I took one last look at his grave before walking away. I had to get back to Lilly’s trailer. According to Steve and Robin, all the kids were still here, and Dustin has kids. He named one of those kids Eds. It makes me wonder on my walk back to the trailer park if he named his son after me. If my disappearance had that great of an effect on him. I wonder if he missed me that much.
Had I not realised just how much I had affected Dustin’s freshman year of high school. Had I not realized just how important I was to Dustin’s life, how important I might have been to every one. I walk and walk until I somehow make my way toward the trailer. I’m not sure why I think that Lilly will continue to let me stay here. I might have to get a new place to stay, but I walk further up the porch. I don’t just walk in I can only aimigne catch Lilly in a rather compromising position.
I wouldn’t want to make the only other person I know in this hollow and broken town uncomfortable. Maybe I was just thinking to hard about everything. Seeing Steve and Robin had only made me think more about the things that I had been taken from. That some evil force had taken me from y mtime and my friends all because of what. Was it all a sick joke on me. The best prank in the godamn wall. I knock hard on the outer glass door. The lights are on inside. But I think about just running, far away from her front door. That’s until she’s opening it and staring at me.
“Eddie, you came back?” She asks ushering me back into the calm space she’s created. “I thought you just up the trailer earlier.” Lilly is dragged me towards her couch. I might had just woken up this morning and left, grabbing my boots and shoving them on before running out of her trailer. The ceiling was still staring at me, looking deep into my soul. “I just had to get out, it’s still just a tad weird to know my uncle isn’t here anymore. I went and vivisted him by the way.” I murmured as we settled on the couch.
“You should have let me rive you there it’s a long walk to the cemetery.” Lilly said getting more comfortable on the couch. I was looking down at the contact she had created by grabbing my wrist and dragging me into the trailer. “I’m sorry it’s still weird for you. I should have realized that.” With that Lilly had let go of my wrist and retracted her hands into her sweatshirt pockets. I tried to say something but nothing came up to console her. “I bumped into some old friends, from my time I guess.” Lilly’s eye light up gleefully.
“You did? Did they reconginze who you were? Are they nice?” Lilly asks about too many questions for my racing mind to answer them. “I think they weren’t mad for my disappearance. They invited me over for dinner. To meet the friends that were in that group.” I rattled off. Lilly was so close to me on the couch that i wasn’t able to focus. No girl not the many yearsthat I had lived in Hawkins was ever so attentive, or caring to me. It was an odd and new feeling one that scared the living shit out ot me.
“Eddie are you alright?” Lilly asks, scooting somehow closer into my personal space. Not that that was the problem. It was more the fact I was trying desperately to keep all of my emotions under wraps in a rather difficult situation. “I… You’re… Yeah I’m okay.” I managed to sutter out. She looked down between us, like she had somehow noticed how much she had gotten close to me. “Oh shit I’m sorry I… I di– I didn’t mean to get all up in your space.” She mutters a small apology. “It’s alright Lilly, I’m a little hungryl, you?”
She cocks her head in the cutest of ways. Her bangs flowing infront of her face. “You mean like do I want something for lunch?” She looks for more information in my eyes, and when I shrug my shoulder she gives up rather quickly. “I can make a mean grilled cheese.” It’s not great food, but it’s something that I can do for her as a weird thank you for letting me stay with her. “You can really make a mean grilled cheese why don’t you just show me, Eddie.” Lilly coaxed me, her brows raised like she was challenging me.
I saluted her and went behind the counter to get a sense of the kitchen. Not that it was any, or much different from when I was living here. Not that I originally spent much time in the kitchen. Wayne had always cooked dinner, and when I was in the kitchen it was to put a bowl of spaghettios into a bowl and heat them up. I got tto work quickly though, only having to ask Lilly where a few things had been placed. Never did she come into the kitchen. I even heated up some soup to share together.
When I was done cooking I strutted out of the kitchen and placed her plate infront of her. I wasn’t sure about a lot of things regarding Lilly. So, I made sure to grab her a set of utensil if she wanted them. The bowl of soup went infront of the two of us, I tired to sit further away from her just to give us a arms length of space. Lilly’s first bite could never have been better, a dealious moan fell from her lips, and the more she kept eating. The more my knees buckled at the sound.
“HOLY SHIT Eds. This is fucking perfection.” She giggled as she wiped her face of bread and cheese crumbs. I tried to stuff my face so I didn’t have to say a single word. I wasn’t ver y trusting of my own voice. “Thanks.” I was able to get out with a mouth full of brunt cheese, and bread. There wasn’t much beside that little conversation, before Lilly was reaching for a remote. That my attentio was turned to the screen intfront of me. “It’s a flatscreen, really thin too.” Lilly said as she flicked back and forth between channels.
The quality was mamazing better then anything I’d ever seen, and that wasn’t really anything to go based off of. “Are you okay if we watch something?” Lilly turned to look at me, her hair was up. Guess she had gotten upset by the random strands that I was coming to like very much. In a few more seconds I’ve returned my attention back to the bright and high quality screen. There’s some sort of dramatic show playing in the background as Lilly goes back to eating her food. It’s getting closer to evening so the sun is setting beautifully.
“Do you remember me saying that I was invited over for dinner with my old friends?” I throw the question into the comfortable air. Lilly lifts her head from the pillow on the couch, her legs are tucked in her bottom. “Hmm yeah, what about it Eddie?” She asks, as Lilly tries to pay attention to both the tv show and my conversation with her. “I was thinking that maybe you could I don’t know join me? I know that you probably don’t really care, but I… I just really don’t want to go meet my old friends without you.”
The words come out rather sentimental like. More like I needed her, like I wasn’t able to think about anything other then her. I just… the truth was that I didn’t want to feel out of place in a new place or rather a new time. We stare at each other, in the dimming room as the sky line turns darker and the tv screen becomes brighter. Lilly is staring at me, her eyes sparkle. Brown eyes staring hard into my own. “You want me to go with you?” She asks. “Yeah.” She smiles, “Yeah I’ll go with you, Eddie.”
It’s for a few more days until, I gather myself and Lilly into her car and drive us down to Lake Nora. Lilly fucks with the radio in her car, “Do you have a certain music type you like to listen to Eddie?” Lilly asks me as I pull up to a stop light. Not that the trailer park is far from Lake Nora. In the time that I had been selling weed and other speicalitys in Hawkins I had only ever been invited to one King Steve party. That drive was creep as shit, something I’d rather not repeat.
I turn looking at Lilly, “Don’t laugh now, I’m a metal head. I like the way the music rumbles through my bones. Used… I was a part of a band at one point here in Hawkins.” I offer my thoughts. She doens’t laughs, rather instead she finds a metal radio station. “Here you go, listen this until we get to your friends house.” She rests back in her seat and let’s calm unknowing in the music. The music is little odd, stuff that I’d never heard. But the guitar, and drums in the background broke through sounding rather familiar sorta.
When I pulled up to Steve house the lights are beaming inside and there’s a few cars already in his drive way. A mini-van, and a few other compact cars. I move the car to make sure that we aren’t in any ones way if they need to get out before we ourselves leave. Lilly is in a pair of black jeans that have purposeful holes in them according to her. A red blouse that make sure her shoulders on visible. “So my friend in there.” I say eyeing the front door. “Yeah your friend in there?” Lilly echos me.
“Steve, and Robin are married. Steve got a thing where his hair always has to be perfect. And then his wife Robin is really talkative. Like she’ll talk your ear off. I don’t know about anyone else.” I say with a sad shrug. “Eddie?” Lilly brings my attention up to her. “Eddie everything will be fine I promise you that. If you need to leave or you just feel out of place come find me. Okay?” Lilly whispers even though we’re alone in her car. I nod, and grab to unbuckle my seat belt before getting out of the car.
The air is somehow different out of here. Just like it was when I first came to the this house to sell. The sound of Lilly’s passenger door closing makes me jump, as my eyes don’t dare leave the front door of Steve house. I don’t leave my trance until I feel Lilly’s hand slip into mine, another jump out of skin moment. “Come on Eddie, I’ll knock on the door.” She takes me and we walk towards the front door, when we make it to the porch I can hear the sounds of happy screaming children. No backing out.
Before I know it Lilly is knocking on the door, and it’s a long pregnagnt moment of silence and waiting. Then the door is opening, Steves is staring at the pair of us. “Hey, I didn’t realize you were bringing someone with you.” he says calmly. “Yeah he didn’t want to feel to out of place.” Lilly speaks up for me. I smile and Steve only nods before opening his door all the way open. The sounds of screaming children pass again as we walk into his living room. There’s life in this house, such a contrast to the past.
“Everyone is in the dining room, if you’d like we can just go eat now or you can met with dustin. You know he’s bound to freak out once he sees you.” Steve says as he takes Lillys coat from her hooking it around a hanger and into the coat closet by the front door. “Who;’s Dustin?” Lilly asks as she looks back over at me. “He was my kid best friend I guess.” I say trying to think how best to explain it. “Like a younger brother that I never got.” I say changing my mind. Steve laughs.
“How about I just meet everyone all at once.” I suggest. Steve shrugs his shoulders. “Whatever you want man.” He guids us towards the dining room. Robin is the first one of to see us. “Eddie! You’ve made it!” Heads turn, and then everyone is staring straight into me. My sheild come up as I shuffle through the faces. Mike is there he’s got a little grew growing in his black shaggy hair. the red headed girl Max is older, but smiling holding someone’s hand I don’t know. Erica is staring at me with those scary eyes. Then there’s Dustin.
I can still hear the kids running in the background. There’s like background music now. Dustin is staring me down, tears are floating at the edges of his eyes. He won’t stop looking at me. I grab onto Lilly’s hand. I feel like I’m floating and I need to feel like I have some sort of anchor. Lilly squeezes back, letting me know she’s there. “WHAT THE FUCK!?!” Dustin screams, someone, well everyone looks at him. There’s a new voice, “Dusty take a breathe please.” The female voice says. “I can’t fucking beialive this. Steve what the fuck is this??”
Dustion is throwing cruse words around like they’re aren’t young ones around, just running past. “No I won’t fucking calm down either Suizs. He was fucking dead. And everyone here knows it. We all watched how he didn’t come back through the fucking gate. Don’t you dare tell me that this is Eddie. I don’t… you… i had…” For a moment Dustin calms down. I let go of Lilly’s hand, amking my way towards Dustin. “Dustin” I try, he looks up at me almost automatically. “I’m not some creep or some upside down monster. I’m just me.… I’m Eddie.”
I mutter, there’s silence in the entire space of the dining room. “Dustin please just know that I’m here now and alive now. Let’s just eat and you can introduce me to your kiddos. I bet they’re just the best just like you kid.” I say softly. He looks like he’s crying, verge of tears. “Eddie.” He says quietly. “I thought… I thought you were dead.” He said, coming to hug me. I hugged him back, and let him take all the time he needed. “Hey kid, do you think we could eat.” I ask after a few long moments.
“Yeah we can eat.” he says with a small chuckle. Steve and Robin had moved in two new chairs and everyone had made room for us to sit down. Dustin went back to his seat. “By the way this is my wife, Suize.” Dustin says as he sits back down. Dinner is already on the table. “We’ve got three kids, and we named one of them after Eds.” “Yeah Dad!” There’s a yelling coming from the other room, and I can’t help but smile at the sound of happiness and joy coming from the kid. Dustin rolls his eyes. “Kids”
There’s peace and quiet in the moments of eating. “Steve is the best cook in town. I swear it.” I hear Robin mumble through a mouth full of food. Steve rolls his eyes at his wife not wife. There’s moreeating in silence, I don’t feel my heart beat as fast as it was before. What I can feel is a soft hand on my knee, rubbing a thumb over my kneecap. I don’t dare look over at Lilly. “So, who’s your friend?” I hear Erica ask. Of course it’s Ecria. I remember that kid always having so many little thoughts.
“Well, she’s um…” I look over at her. I’m not sure how to describe it, so I give her the reins of this conversation. “Well I’m Lilly. I live in the trailer park.” Heads turn with forks in mouths. “The trailer park?” Dustin questions her. “Yeah kinda funny I live in Eds old trailer.” She answers with giggle. I can see the wheels turning in Dustin and Ercia heads. It’s as if a day hasn’t passed since they were in school and little kiddos themselves. “So you’re saying you live in Eddie old trailer? How’d that even happen to you?”
It’s Dustin asking the questions. Everyone beside Ercia isn’t really paying the most attention towards our conversation, for reasons I don’t know yet. Maybe they’re all confused as to how I’m here. Along with the others who I’m not sure who they are just yet. “Well, if you must know I was great friends with Eds Uncle Wayne. I helped him a lot in the trailer park and he eventually gave me the trailer to live in. I helped with his funeral when it came time.” Lilly says softly, her hand has yet to leave my knee. Empowering the conversation.
Once dinner is done or atleast everyone is done eating people are on the move to get onto the comfy large couch in Steve’s living room. “So there’s a few people you um…you didn’t get the chance to met.” Steve says his voice almost echos in the tall house. Everyone is now sitting on the couch. Two women are sitting next to each other, Max and a women with dark brown curly hair. “This is Max, who you know from before, and her wife Jane or El.” Steve introduces me to the pair. “Are you the girl with the powers?”
I ask, there a tense that comes over the room. “Yeah, I once had powers, but haven’t needed them in a long time. It’s nice to met you Eds.” Jane says as she nudges into Max’s side. I can’t help but copy her as i do the same to Lilly. She looks over at me and smiles. Steve takes me attention by introducing me to someone new. “This is Mike, you know he was in your hellfire club, but you haven’t met Will. These two are married.” Steve says. I had known a few gay people that lived in Hawkins.
“It’s nice to finally met you. I don’t know if you can tell but Mike really took a liking to your whole style.” Will says as he reaches over to give me a handshake. It’s firm but as he smiles at me I notice what he’s talking about. Mike had pratiaclly ripped off my style. Black jeans and leather jacket. I laugh at yet another thought of how much I might have imprint on these kids. Another thought comes up, maybe one of soreness and tightness. Maybe one that will make the whole room go silent but I cant think.
“So the whole fighting Vecna thing?” I ask. There are a few strong inhales, like they hadn’t thought one day about it. “Yeah we killed that son of a bitch long ago, that was sorta the end of it.” Jane speaks up from her corner next to Max. Max giggles and kisses her wives cheek before shaking her head in agreement. “It was honestly revenge on my part.” Dustin says, there’s more tears but I’m not sure what they’re based on. “Once it was all over lots of people left town. Scared of how scary Hawkins was starting to become.”
“Do you wanna meet my kiddos?” Dustin asks, Suize is starting to visibly fall asleep on her husband shoulders. They’re such a cute little couple. “Sure kid.” Lilly has yet to leave my side and I squeeze her hand once more, thank her sielntly for coming with me. “You’re welcome.” She murmurs before resting her head on my shoulder. “Kids do you mind coming in here?” Dustin shouts from his spot on the couch. There’s loud thunderish footsteps, “Hey Uncle Steve, dad what’s up.” “I have someone I’d like you to met.” Dustin points over to me. I smile wide.
“This is your dads best friend from when he was still in school.” Dustin says, “Eds why don’t you met Eddie.” His kids eyes light up, “You’re my uncle Eddie, the guy I was named after, I can’t help but smile wider, “I guess so kiddo.” “I’ve heard so many cool stories about you, like how you totally were the best D&D DM ever, dad got me into that game by the way.” Eds say extasically. I laugh how similar the two are. “I was and still am the best DM.” I encourage him on. I love his style.
He looks a little like his dad and a little like his mother. Curly hair, but a wide goofy smile. Clothes that I wished that I could have pulled off. “So how old are you Eds?” I ask him. He turns to his dad. “He just turned fourteen a few days ago.” I remember being fourteen and thinking that the world was ending, my dad wasn’t there anymore so I ran and ran until I got to Uncle Waynes trailer. “Well you make the most of it kiddo.” I say patting his shoulder, he goes off sitting next to Suize.
“Come on Claire. Come meet your Uncle Eddie.” She’s more shy, her long hair is down to her back and she uses her hair as a coping mechinase to hide her anxiety. She moves slowly until she’s right infront of us. “You know I do the same thing when I’m nervous.” I say softly so no one else can hear me. Everyone is watching the both of us. “You do?” She says “Yup, I like to do crazy things like this.” I move my hair from behind my ear and rope it over my lips. Making a fake mustache beard.
She giggles, and laugh before repeating me. “I like this!” She very verbal once you get her out of her shell. “So how old are you?” I ask, She swallows. “I’m eleven year old. I just got back from camp.” She says point down at her shirt. ‘Camp Lagoon’ Is written on her lime green shirt and a little beetle bug must be there mascot there. “She’s a fan of her science camps like Dusty here was.”Suize comments. Claire moves quickly to move into her mothers lap. “Hey Mama.” She says looking up at her. “There’s one more kiddo.”
“Beth baby, you wanna come here.” Dustin calls out, There’s nothing for a few moments, then Steve is getting up and going to find her. Clarie and Eds have somehow fallen asleep on their mother. It’s cute and makes me heart ache just a little. Reminds me of my own mother how she always the sweetest women, never forget about me regardless of the fighting that happened between her and my shitty dad. “I’ve got her, she’s was working on some lego bricks.” Steve says. He kneels in front of me handing me the child. She just looks at me.
“Hello Beth, how are you?” I ask, I’m guessing she isn’t to much younger then her sister. She looks down at my fingers and plays with them. “I’m otay,” Beth whispers. “You okay too?” She asks, I laugh at her whispering but play along. “I’m good too Beth, so how old are you then… let me guess!” I say, I pretend to think for a moment and I feel Lilly’s eyes on me I can’t help but blush from the staring. “I’d say that you’re nine.” It’s a totally shitty guess, she rolls her eyes, I look over to Dustin.
“Beth is only six, smart little girl though huh.” Dustin comments, “She reminds me of someone I used to know, kinda of a smarty.” I commented, Dustin laughs loudly waking his sleeping child. Beth continues to play with my fingers and then Lilly starts to talk with her. “You’re such a cutie Beth.” Beth giggles and launches her head into my shoulder. “I think you made her shy,” I say looking over at Lilly for the first time in a while. Her smile is hard to miss, but there’s something behind her eyes. Like a longing for kids, the feeling.
Beth ends up falling asleep on my shoulder, cozying up in my shoulder. Before I know it Dustin is trying to get up frm the couch with a kid in his arms, and one kid in Suizes arms. “Can you help us with Beth?” Lilly had fallen asleep on my shoulder. I get up slowly to let Lilly’s head move down to the couchison. I walk with Dustin and his wife towards the front door and their car. Beth weight doesn’t bother me at all as I watch and stand waiting for Dustin to buckle in his son. “Here’s Beth.”
Once I get back into the Harringtons home. I’m being dragged by Robin towards the kitchen islands, “Shit Robin.” I manage to huff out by the time she’s stopped us. “You’re totally in love with that Lilly girl aren’y you?!” She asks, theres exctiemnt behind her eyes, and the sound of footsteps stops me from saying the truth of how I’m truely feeling. “God robin you can’t just spring that on someone.” Steve whispers, trying to lower the sound of our conversation. “So do you? Do you like that girl you brought with you?” Steve asks prolonging the conversation along.
“What do you want me to say. I fell throug her fucking ceiling and now she’s just… she’s just so damn sweet and supportive. I’m not sure I should even…” There’s a pause in my throat. “So you do like her?” Robin beats the word like further into my head. “Maybe…” I saw softly as I look back through the doorway towards Lilly’s sleeping body on the couch. “We should probably get going…” I comment, “What before you go take some of dinner with you.” Steve says shoving a few tupper ware containers into my chest. Looking over at Lilly.
I tried my hardest to juggle both the containers of food, and Lilly as I walked us towards the car. The food goes into the back of the car, and Lilly goes into the passenger seat. Lilly isn’t fully aware of what is going on around her, but once the engine starts in the car. She right back to sleep. Somehow the drive back to Lilly’s trailer is different. The air is cold, the streetlights stream through the car’s window. I keep looking back between the road and her. Somehow feeingl so utter alone even though I know I’m not.
It’s weird how cruel your own mind can be to you. I try my hardest making my way towards the trailer park entrance. It reminds me of Chrissy. Driving down the dirt and gravel road with Chrissy sitting next to me staring off into space. I don’t think at all I was aware of what the reality of what was happening around me. I don’t even get out of my head until I hear her voice. It’s not Chrissy’s it’s Lillys and for some reason it calms me almost immediately. “Are we home?” She asks in a sleepy voice

i.
It’s in the garden behind the inn where you realize you're really in love with Soonyoung.
He’s eighteen, radiant with the glow of youth and the summer sun, long legs askew underneath the now sprawling wisteria you planted with him as a child. The daylight is emerald through the foliage, and you watch it coalesce in his butterscotch eyes, fall into the gentle slope of his nose.
Your bones feel warm and heavy with happiness. Soonyoung’s head rests in your lap, and he meets your gaze with his usual affection, the overabundant kind that feels like you can hold in your hands with how tangible it is.
“When will you come back?” you ask.
He takes a long pause. It worries you because Soonyoung’s never the type to pause. He goes, he goes and keeps going until he can’t anymore. You're surprised he's stayed so long in one place—here.
"I don't know." He laughs blithely and finds your hand so he can lace his fingers with yours. "I haven't thought that far ahead," he admits.
Then he does that insufferable, maddening thing where he trails little kisses down the span of your wrist, up your forearm, across the back of your hand, his touch featherlight, yet deliberate. You wonder if he's mapping your skin as to not forget you when he leaves.
"All I know is that I need to be there."
You don't need to follow his gaze to know where he's looking—the tall silvery spires past the village, an imposing silhouette of the royal castle of the kingdom you live in.
He doesn't say that people usually don't come back when they leave for the city. You already know that one, too.
And, in turn, you stay quiet. You've learned that words aren't enough to change his mind, which, funnily enough, is why you like him so much.
Instead, you let the swell of love wash over you, a heady, slow rush that spreads over your skin like sun (yet, tender like a bruise) as you let yourself admire him.
You want to love him without expectation, without pretense. But it's hard to separate expectation from love, even for someone like you, whose job it is to watch people come and go.
Because as weighty as Soonyoung's love can be, you know how hard it is to keep. And so you sit, limbs tangled, watching the firebugs pulse with their transient June light, knowing this moment, too, will pass.
You feel the warmth of Soonyoung's laughter settle over you, as certain and familiar as ever. You allow his wandering hands as they press little lights into your skin, and let the heat of his skin play back on yours.
With him, there's never been a forever and always. You chase the now, but in the now, you have him and his lips and his racing heartbeat all to yourself.
And some young, foolish part of you thinks it's a moment you can bottle up and keep. That the closer you hold it to your heart, the more likely he is to stay.
ii.
The first time you learned Soonyoung could use magic, you were thirteen.
You had been demonstrating a perfect cartwheel to him—on the bartop inside the inn, of course. And, in your vain attempt to avoid the smattering of ale steins and assorted weapons in your way, you had careened off the counter and given yourself a nasty scrape on the jagged floorboards.
You had both laughed until you cried, and then when Soonyoung realized you were actually crying, he rushed over with a heartrending urgency.
"S'fine," you mumbled, your adolescent body feeling all too big, too awkward under his gaze.
He offered his hand to help, and being the stubborn kid you were, you denied him. And he whined and fussed until you finally let him kneel down and look at the thin gash, now weeping blood.
You can't even describe what happened next. The patient hover of his usually quick hands over your skin, then an indescribable warmth all over.
And then your knee was healed.
Over the next few years, you watched Soonyoung experiment with his powers.
He'd call your name on his way back from the market, waving his free hand around while balancing a bag of produce in the cradle of his other arm.
"Watch this!" And then a vortex of apples would emerge from the burlap, first a magnificent crimson swirl, and then their eventual pathetic scatter over the grass in front of the inn.
"Almost there," he'd mutter, as you both gather the fruits in your arms, everything and everyone feeling a bit bruised.
Sometimes you'd watch the gap underneath his door intermittently light up as you cleaned the inn for the night. You pictured his cute frown, nose scrunched up as he flexed his palm. Orange, black, orange, black, orange, the weak flicker of the flame birthed from his skin.
You wouldn't say Soonyoung was a good magician. But he certainly was a tenuous one with a considerable stroke of luck.
Before he left, he would show you little tricks.
"I’m paying my rent," he'd harumph, staring intently at the unbaked pie you left on the counter, as if willing it to cook itself. "With my valuable labor."
"You better pay faster." You cast a sidelong glance at the disgruntled mercenary in the corner of the dining room.
"Don't worry about Jihoon. He's my friend." And then another hopelessly determined glare at the innocent, perfectly latticed pie.
Soonyoung's eventual contribution was a quick brûlée over the top after cajoling the poor starving warrior, entertaining him with the surprisingly effective party trick of producing a real bit of fool's gold behind his ear. ("See? We're friends!" he'd tell you.)
"Can these hands at least chop some wood?" you'd tease. They fit so perfectly in your own, something you learned you could, no, would miss.
"Yes," he'd start. "But they can also do this!" And then their warm descent on your sides, tickling you until you collapsed right into him, letting him drink up the laughter right from your lips.
When you first met Soonyoung, he was a small, impish little thing who had turned up at the front door of the inn—on an adventure, he said.
He stayed ever since, learning to run the inn with you.
But you'd see the glow of his eyes as yet another traveler regaled him with tales of an expedition in kingdoms past. You knew you couldn't tie him here. You felt lucky to even have the luxury to hold him as you slept, to have him tie your apron behind your back every day and to dance with you and the broom as you swept the floor ("I think I prefer the broom," you'd say, just to see him pout. And like clockwork, he would, and you'd kiss him, and kiss and kiss and kiss).
Now, he packs his bags to study magic in the royal city.
You feel the heavy sway of your heart in the pit of your chest. You've watched many adventurers go, but for some reason, you could never bring yourself to prepare for this moment.
He sits amidst a small disaster in your shared room. "Don't forget your lucky tiger," you remind him, leaning against the doorframe. It's a shitty, dilapidated little thing you sewed together for one of his birthdays. But he kept it, and for someone who loses a lot of things, that certainly was a special feat.
"How could I?" He holds an offended hand to his chest and kisses the bundle of threads, and you feel like bursting into a million tears.
He blows you a kiss at the doorstep.
"Not a real one, because that's for when I come back," he says.
How soon is when? You want to ask. You think of that heat-stained afternoon in the garden, where you crossed hands and hearts but your mind was a million miles away. I don't know was a hell of an answer to hold onto, but he didn't give you much of an option.
Soonyoung lingers at the doorstep. You wonder if he expects you to find another reason to stop him.
Instead, you watch him disappear down the sandy bend of the road, going, going, gone. The lonely dance of the innkeeper, the choreographed parting you had grown accustomed to.
Your life has been a series of goodbyes, but this one, just this once, dies on your tongue.
iii.
It's at the end of a grueling, mind-numbing day—every spring, the traveling mercenaries migrate to the royal kingdom, your small inn a pit stop on the way—when you see Soonyoung for the first time in years.
You're at the faraway market, the one in the royal city, to pick up supplies.
He's taller, broader. He walks with a certainty in his step, one that's forgotten when he runs to you with abandon.
Soonyoung sweeps you up, as easily as ever, hands firm around your waist to lift you so your faces are level. He's stronger, too.
"Soonyoung," you breathe, giddy. His lips find your neck; he's kissing, giggling, breathing you back in. "What are you doing here?"
"Wanted to ask you the same." He grins, all lopsided and toothy, and your heart balloons to some inhuman size. "I live here, you know."
"But your letters—thought the magic school wouldn't let you leave."
"I snuck out," he says, pressing his forehead to yours. "Wanted to come home. See you."
Home. Home. You roll the word around in your head. Soonyoung never called the inn home; he always wanted to be everywhere at once, and yet something kept him there. The thought that it was you presses against your ribs, a crushing swell of guilt and joy all in one.
"Watch," he says, still as exuberant as ever. And even before you roll your eyes, he's insistent—"I'm good now, I promise!"
Protection magic, he calls it. A force field. He's come a long way from a flame barely able to cook an egg.
"It's like you're untouchable," you laugh, pressing the flat of your palm over the shimmering plane before Soonyoung's hand, feeling it pulse against you like a magnet.
"Almost." And then the pressure's gone, replaced by the warm callouses of his skin on yours as the magic dissipates. "Never for you."
And again, you think about how uncanny it is that you and Soonyoung fell in love—the dutiful innkeeper and the restless adventurer.
Who, but you, would he ever let touch him?
It's then you remember how Soonyoung's hand has always fit perfectly in yours.
Soonyoung accompanies you back to the inn—"They won't miss me for a night," he had said.
And so you're back in the garden, sitting shoulder to shoulder under the ivy and magnolias.
Although it's been years, his presence grounds you. Everything from the way he squeezes your hand when he talks, the glimmer in his eyes, how he steals a kiss mid-conversation brings you back to when you fell in love all those years ago.
But nothing could have prepared you for when Soonyoung asks you to live with him in the royal city.
He had been asked to join the mages' court at the palace, a permanent, demanding position. That was the real reason he wanted to see you, he tells you.
"Let Mingyu take over. You know he wants to!" Soonyoung laughs like it's a joke. "Come, make a new home with me. I'll cook the pies. The right way, I promise." His smile is dazzling and heartbreaking at the same time.
You replay the moment he told you he returned because he wanted to come home—to you.
How could you tell him that your real home was here, at the inn? In the roots of the wisteria, in the battered floorboards of the dining room, in the bag of produce you get from the market every morning?
"I—" you start. It tumbles out of your mouth, shredded and broken. "I can't. You know I can't."
He's silent. You think it's because he expected this outcome, that it couldn't be any other way, that you both knew this, innately, the night he first told you he was leaving.
You don't look at each other.
The moon is violet. The sky is black. There are no stars tonight.
And as if piercing a great big divide, he reaches for your hand, the habit now a lifeline as the weight of the moment settles into you.
"But I’ll have you for tonight?" Soonyoung turns to look at you. His eyes are shimmery, earnest.
If you could silence the roar in your head, in your chest, you would instead feel the pressure of an invisible clock, counting the seconds you have left together. You both know you're on borrowed time.
"Soonyoung." Your face is so hot, you aren't sure if you're crying or not. "You'll have me for as long as you want me."
"Silly," he murmurs. "I'll always want you." Your noses are touching; he holds your gaze so you don't see the sadness in his smile. But you already know what he's feeling, the heavy twist of acceptance settling in the both of your stomachs.
It's always been this way with you two—you don't have to see him to know his heart.
And maybe it's this knowledge that guides your hands, your lips, when you trace him into memory on this starless night.
It's another postponed goodbye, you know it is, a prolonged farewell you began years ago but could not bring yourself to end.
You go through the motions in your head, the phantom parting, your eventual final meeting.
But it's something you both accept. Tonight is just another push of the hands of the clock. Another stolen moment.
When Soonyoung kisses your lips with the tenderness of all the years he's loved you, your heart falls right into his hands.
What you have with him isn't forever, but it's something.
This is a goodbye you're willing to wait for.

a snippet | and you call me the villain | hero & villain
trigger warnings: abuse, guns, knives, death, blood
The villain crept around the edge of the hero's house, gloved fingertips gripping practically nothing as he edged around the narrow cover over the garage. Finally reaching the porch, he leapt silently over the railing, snickered soundlessly at the patio furniture (who paired gold-thread pillows with a beaten, battered sofa?) and paused at the open sliding doors, a sliver of an opening in the curtains allowing him to peer inside.
Damnit. The lights were on. That meant the hero was still inside, and the documents he had been planning all week to grab would have to wait a little longer.
Obviously he was looking into a study of sorts, with a large wooden desk and white bookshelves and an obscene amount of just blank space. The space seemed empty. But then if the villain listened, there was yelling. And there was the crack of something, something swishing through the air and snapping at its end.
His grip tightened on the doorframe.
"How many times have I told you?" The hero's voice roared. The swish-crack came again. "It's not that hard to be the top of the class!"
"I tried—" another, younger voice gritted out. The only response was the swish-crack. This time, the breeze lifted the curtains just enough for the villain to confirm what they were already sure of.
Someone—a kid, the villain thought, because they couldn't be older than sixteen—was clutching the end of the desk, white-knuckled hands tensing as the swish-crack came again, the source of which was a whip, commandeered by the hero. No bottles of alcohol were in sight, merely a single piece of paper on the desk that the villain would bet his entire stash of ill-gotten gains was a report card.
Rage tore through him and he threw all his meticulous plans to the wind as he stepped through the curtains, gun raised.
"Put the whip down."
The hero looked up and snarled. "Get out of my house."
"And leave the kid here with you?" The villain's eyes flashed. "Not on your life."
"I said, get out of my house."
"I came here for some bloody documents, and here I find you whipping your kid over a report card. And you call me the villain?"
The hero snarled again, and in a single fluid movement threw a knife at the villain—evidently the shelves weren't as bare as he thought they had been—which he narrowly dodged.
Eh, I tried to be civil.
He fired the gun and the hero yowled, his dominant arm wounded as he dropped the second knife and attempted to staunch the bleeding in his forearm. The villain stalked over, and stood over the hero.
"This is for every time you ever laid a hand on a kid."
He shot the hero through the hand, relished in the hero's scream for a split second, and then slammed the butt of the gun into the hero's temple, knocking him out without any more of a fuss.
The villain turned to the kid, whose shirt was nothing more than bloody ribbons. "Grab whatever you want and let me know when you're ready."
"W-what?"
"You're leaving with me. Unless you want to be here when he wakes up," the villain jerked his head to the unconscious hero, slumped against the bookshelves, "which I doubt would be a pleasant experience. You got siblings?"
"...Yeah, three. Two sisters and a brother."
"Your mom in the house?"
"Probably passed out drunk," the kid admitted.
"Look, kid. What's your name?"
"Finley."
"Alright, Finley. Get your siblings too. Tell them to take their favourite things with them, anything else we can buy tomorrow."
"We've got school tomorrow—"
"You're not going anywhere until you get those wounds looked over, and your siblings aren't going anywhere where that piece-of-shit bastard can pick them up again. Do they have a lot of friends there? I assume you're in high school. Correct me if I'm wrong."
"I am in high school. My brother is too. The twins are in elementary. They have a couple of friends there, I guess. I could ask them later."
"Sounds good. Here," the villain shrugged off his jacket. "Don't want them to see you like that."
Finley took the jacket—it was a little too large for him—and left the room. The villain slipped his phone out of his pocket and dialled a number.
"Pierre."
"Yes?"
"I need you to come pick me up at 5834 Riverside Crescent. I also need you to have the medic ready when we get back."
"We?"
"I'm bringing four kids with me."
There was a beat of silence.
"I'll have it all ready."
"Thank you. Come as soon as possible, will you?"
"Of course, sir."
The line cut and the villain stuck the phone back into his pocket. Unbuttoning the top button of his shirt, he rifled through the drawers for the papers he'd been looking for. May as well take advantage of the hero being unconscious. The asshole was lucky that the villain didn't shoot him dead on the spot.
A few minutes later, the papers were tucked away in the inside pocket of his waistcoat. The villain stepped outside of the study and shut the door. Finley had returned with his siblings—a similarly-aged boy, and two identical girls, each clutching a backpack. The rev of an engine pulling up outside alerted the villain to Pierre's presence.
"Where are we going?" One of the girls looked at them with big eyes.
"What's your name?"
"Jessie."
"Okay, Jessie. Well, your daddy is not very good at being a dad, so I'm going to take care of you now."
Jessie looked at her sister in relief. "Okay."
The boy blinked. "Really? Our dad always said you were evil. No offence," he added hastily.
"If anything I do can be considered evil, my greatest sin would be to walk past this house and ignore what was going on inside. But I'm standing here, instead."
The boy nodded.
"Are all of you ready to go?"
Nods and quiet mutters of 'yes' rang around the dead-silent house. The villain tilted their head to the front door.
"Let's go then, kids."
if you enjoy my writing, please consider buying me a coffee!
