“Hey, how was your flight? Did you arrive safely?”
“I need a shower, I smell like plane,” Ashton groaned on the other side of the line, probably rubbing his face tiredly. “Lauren is picking me up in ten then she’ll take me to Mom.”
“How are they doing?” Calum asked next to you, the phone strategically placed between the two of you on the table so both of you could speak to Ashton.
“They manage, but I think it will be better now that I’m here,” Ash continued, his voice sounding a bit strained and quiet. “I’ll take care of them until we figure everything out.”
You exchanged a look with Calum, both of you thinking of the same thing – how Ashton always took it upon himself to make sure everyone was okay, that they were fed and showered and slept at least 6 hours, taking medications and looking after their mental health. Not just the two of you, but Michael and Luke as well, their friends as well, and his whole family back in Australia.
That’s where he was currently, halfway across the world, waiting for his sister to pick him up so he could help Lauren and Harry take care of their Mom who had a small accident which left her bedridden. It only took him a day to arrange everything and before you knew it he was out of the door, already heading home to help where he could. Both of you wished that you could join him, but your workplace wouldn’t have let you go on such short notice for more than a few days, and Cal needed to overtake some of the band stuff Ashton left behind. You also had a feeling that they agreed to Calum staying so you wouldn’t be alone while Ash was helping his family.
“I already miss you, though,” Ashton confessed, murmuring his words into the speaker. “Do you think we could schedule a video call tomorrow? And maybe by then I’ll know more that I can share too…”
“Yeah, of course. I’ll see when we’re both available and let you know, okay?” Cal nodded like Ashton was able to see him, so used to having him by his side. “You just go and take care of Anne Marie. And get some sleep too, you sound tired.”
“I am,” he sighed, and you wanted more than anything to reach out and hug him, let him cuddle close to you and fall asleep. “I gotta go, Lauren is here.”
“Just… call us if you need anything, okay? Doesn’t matter what’s the time,” you added, hoping that Ash will remember it – he tended to forget about his own needs when he put others first.
“I love you, both of you,” Ashton finally said, and you could hear how much he meant it, how much he really appreciated you and Cal being so supportive and being there for him.
“We love you too, Ash,” Calum replied, and you hummed in agreement, whispering a quiet ‘love you’ as well.
“Alright, I’ll talk to you tomorrow. Now go to sleep, you stayed up way too late because of me,” a laugh slipped out of him, and you were sure his cheeks were tinted pink. “Sorry about that.”
“Wouldn’t be the first time…” your other boyfriend made another comment, and after catching another quick laugh from Ashton the call was disconnected.
Calum reached for you and grabbed your waist, pulling you from your chair and into his lap, wrapping his arms around you. Yours settled around his neck, fingers diving into his soft dark locks, eyes trained on each other.
“Let’s get you into bed, okay?,” he finally said, and pressed his lips against your cheek. “You look tired.”
“Is it okay if I say that I already miss Ashton from our bed?” the confession left you before you could stop yourself, burrowing closer to Calum.
“Of course. I miss him too,” he rubbed your back soothingly, whispering against your ear. “I also sleep best when both of you are next to me. But for now we have each other, so let’s take care of us until our grumpy boyfriend is back home, okay?”
“Okay,” you mumbled, a smile pulling at your lips at Calum’s not-so-secret nickname for Ashton.
Calum tilted your chin up towards him and kissed you, taking a little bit of extra time with it to make up for Ashton’s absence. You let him carry you upstairs and into the bedroom, Duke curled up against your stomach in bed as Calum held you from behind, whispering softly to help you fall asleep, and promising that your boyfriend will be back soon, you won’t even notice that he was gone.
You desperately wished that that was true.
.
You tried your best, you really did – but it was hard to stay positive when Ashton told you a few days later that he definitely needed to stay for two weeks, maybe even more, and with that Calum started to spend more and more time on his phone and laptop, discussing band things with their management, or arranging meetings with the others to talk over whatever idea or info Ashton has sent them. You also did your best to focus on your own job, hoping it will distract you enough that you don’t think about missing your boys, but most of the time it was futile.
Both of you were tired by the time you came back home, only having enough energy to send a message to Ashton and hope he was available for a quick chat, then after dinner you usually found yourselves in bed, Calum falling asleep before his head hit the pillow. But you found that your sleep was restless, even with your boyfriend holding you close, soft breaths tickling your ear as he slumbered. You knew you were overreacting it all: Ashton needed to take care of his Mom, and Calum had to take over his tasks to make the band run smoothly.
And you – well, you felt like you worried too much about Ashton and expected too much from Calum, and that was driving you crazy. You knew Ash was well capable of taking care of himself and his family at the same time, that he didn’t need you to worry about his well-being or mental health, that if he needed something from the two of you he would just tell you. And yet you felt like you were letting him down, that you should do more than this, make his life easier while he was back in Australia, not just feeling sorry for him and yourself from the distance.
And then there was Calum, who suddenly didn’t have that much time on his hands because he was working for the two of them so the band did not fall behind on their schedule, who was trying to keep everything running smoothly while still making sure you were okay too. He was doing his best and tried to give you as much attention as they usually would together with Ashton, but you felt like it was too much energy for one and that you might have been too needy. He deserved a break too, and you wanted to give it to him, to them, not wanting to burden any of your boys with your own made up problems.
.
“Hey, sweets? Are you okay?”
You didn’t realize Calum stopped speaking, or that there were tears streaming down your face. Frustratedly you wipe at your eyes, hoping he did not see them, quickly shaking your head.
“I’m fine…”
“You don’t seem fine,” he pursed his lips, crouching down next to you. “You wanna talk about it?”
The words in your throat desperately wanted to escape, and you gripped the hem of Ashton’s hoodie you stole from his closet to swallow them down. Because you were not okay, you were ready to fall apart. Ashton’s been away for almost three weeks, with no news about his arrival back home while Calum’s been trying to juggle two separate roles at the same time, and it made you feel selfish that he needed to focus on your bad mood now too. You curled up in a ball in front of the couch, knees pulled up to your chest as you hid your face, doing your best to hold yourself together.
“Y/N? Baby, what happened?”
“I’m fine, I’m just…” you hiccupped, voice muffled as you choked on your words. “I’m okay, don’t– don’t worry about me…”
“To hell with that!” Calum scoffed loudly, settling down next to you and pulling you into his arms, at which more sobs bubbled up from your chest. “Tell me love, please? Let me help you. I’m always here, you know that, right?”
It was like the floodgates opened at his words, because it was true, and you hated yourself for it – because of course he was always there, that was one of the problems. You cannot expect him to tire himself out looking after you. You hated yourself for being so needy with Calum, for worrying so much about Ash, for missing him this much even though this wasn’t the first time he was away for long weeks. You felt like you didn’t appreciate Calum enough, that you took his love for granted. You felt like your head’s going to explode, along with your heart.
“…and I miss Ashton too, I do,” Calum whispered against your ear as he cradled your head to his chest, his own voice teary, and you realized that you just said it all out loud, and that Calum was currently responding to all your feelings you’ve been bottling up since Ash left. “It’s really hard without him, I know. I’m so used to him being here with us, I don’t think I’ve spent more than a few days apart from him in the last 10 years. And I know you do this all the time while we are on tour, and I can imagine it does not get easier.”
“Cal, I–”
“And I promise you you’re not taking my love for you granted, and I’m sure Ashton would say the same. Because we both love you very much, and it’s not a burden, you’re not a burden. We take care of you because we love you, and we want you to tell us when you’re struggling and feeling low. Don’t bottle these feelings up, we want to know what is going on with you. You are our girlfriend and you always come first.”
“I really don’t deserve your love,” you gathered all your strength to move into his lap, arms hugging his neck and burrowing into him, crying against his shoulder.
“Don’t say that,” Cal mumbled against your ear, warm hand caressing your back up and down to sooth you while he also swallowed back tears. “I love you. You gotta accept that.”
“I love you too, Cal,” you snuggled close, trying to quieten the last of your sobs.
.
“I really wish Ashton was here…”
It’s been long minutes since you calmed down a little, a few quiet sobs still bubbling up every now and then, and Calum tried to help you talk through all your feelings you’ve been avoiding for weeks now.
“I know, baby, me too,” he kissed the top of your head, using the sleeve of his sweater to wipe away his own tears. “We gotta get our shit together before we speak to him, don’t you think?”
“I would rather you just tell me…” the voice came from the direction of the door, and both Calum and you looked that way, finding Ashton standing there with his luggage next to him.
He looked weary and like he needed a shower and a proper hug, curls hanging over his forehead and his glasses, dark circles under his eyes. Before you knew it he shrugged off his jacket, letting it fall to the floor while quickly kicking off his shoes, letting them land in a heap behind the couch before rounding it and dropping down next to you, his arms curling around the both of you.
“Hey honeys, I’m home,” Ash hooked his chin over your shoulder, a long sigh leaving his lips. “I fucking missed you too.”
“You didn’t tell us you were coming,” Cal murmured, no heat in his voice as his forehead knocked against Ashton’s. “Would have picked you up.”
“I wanted to surprise you,” Ash said, manoeuvring his body around yours until he was able to pull you to his chest while settling against Calum’s side, all three of you cuddled up in a pile. “Guess I was the one who got surprised… Hey, it’s okay, shhh baby! I’m here!”
You sobbed into his neck, suddenly feeling overwhelmed from your confession to Calum and the fact that Ashton came back home, holding both of you tightly against his body. You heard Cal sniffle above you, and Ash also took off his glasses to wipe at his eyes, his voice a little weak when he spoke again.
“I guess we all just need to hold each other a little tighter tonight.”
“It was a long three weeks without you,” Calum let his head rest on top of his, and Ash nodded, adjusting you in his lap as you started calming down again.
“I just wanna be with you two,” Ashton confessed, kissing your cheek and then Calum’s as well, his body slowly going lax. “Just want to be us again. Want to feel whole again.”
You quietly mumbled your love for them against his shirt as you found your words, voice still a little teary, but full of love, and they whispered their confessions right back to you, the three of you in a pile on the floor, trying to mend the pieces of your hearts which were not broken, but definitely needed some tender loving care from each other to properly heal – to be whole again.

Could you do a plus size Blurb where you and Lu go back to your home town for Christmas and some of your family is picking on you for being bigger like always so luke comforts you and points out his favorite parts of your body (like he says he loves your nose because it’s a cute little button nose)
I request a Luke Hemmings immediately if he would do this for me. So I am definitely going all out for this one.
Tumblr media
You sucked in a breath and looked up at your sweet boyfriend. "Can't we just go to the hotel and watch Christmas movies? Or get wasted? What about getting hit by a car?"
Luke chuckled and rubbed soft circles into your back and kissed your chubby cheek. "I know you don't want to see some of your family, but I know you'll regret it if you don't see the ones you love."
You sighed and softly clung to his jacket. "I hate that you're right about this."
"I'm right here with you, baby," he murmured and tickled your soft sides.
A small giggle erupted from your lips as you moved his fingers away. "Okay, okay. I'll be optimistic. Besides, I get to show off my amazing boyfriend."
"That's the spirit. I am pretty awesome."
You rolled your eyes and led Luke towards the front door to your family's home. You hesitated for a moment before knocking. Luke squeezed your other hand to remind you to breathe.
The door opened and several family members flooded out of the entryway to get a gander at the tall, Australian man that was supposedly your boyfriend. Lots of voices and hands greeted you and you let yourself relax, knowing that it probably wouldn't be that bad.
"Y/N you weren't lying! You found a cute guy," One of your older female family members chirped.
"Oh, yeah. Everyone, this is Luke. Luke, this is my family," you introduced, ignoring the quip.
Luke put on the charm and smiled at your family. "It's really nice to finally meet you all. Thank you so much for allowing me to join you for Christmas."
Your dad shook Luke's hand and was already impressed by Luke's politeness. Your mom was silently admiring the way Luke smiled and other family members were more excited about his fame.
"We're glad you could join us, Luke. You're always welcome," your dad offered.
You let out a sigh of relief and smiled at your family. They were being kind and welcoming to the man you were in love with.
You were both ushered into the house and Luke was introduced to everyone and he was joking and being lively as usual. You took a moment to set presents you had wrapped underneath the Christmas tree and grinned at some of the ornaments that were hanging from the branches.
"Hey, love," Luke murmured and rested his hand on your soft waist, "You put the presents under the tree?"
You nodded and softly rested your head against his shoulder. "My family likes you already. That's a great sign."
He beamed and pressed a soft kiss to your forehead. "As long as I can stay on their good side. So, probably no feeling you up in front of the Christmas tree?"
"Probably not, babe," you giggled.
When the hustle and bustle started to calm down, you were sat next to Luke on a cozy loveseat with his hand resting on your knee.
"So, Y/N, how did you meet Luke?" Your mother inquired.
"There's a small café in LA that I went to for breakfast one morning and Luke actually came up to my table," you started, "He asked me if he could join me because he thought I was cute and wanted to get to know me."
Luke smiled fondly at the memory.
"Oh, so you didn't ask him out?" A cousin asked.
"No, he came up to me," you said with a faltering smile.
"Yeah, I walked in and put in my order and when I was looking for a table, I noticed a really beautiful girl sitting alone. I figured this was the time to shoot my shot," he added and kissed your cheek sweetly.
"Well, that's surprising isn't it?" Your mom clucked and sipped her wine.
You felt your heart drop. Why was it so hard to believe that Luke had come up to you?
"When was the last time you had a boyfriend, Y/N?" Your dad questioned, "I know it's been a long time." He laughed.
You shifted your body in the loveseat and Luke's strong hand squeezed your knee. "Y/N's been really supportive of my music and she's actually coming with me on my next tour. She'll get to travel the world with me. I promise to keep her safe," He swiftly changed the subject and you silently thanked him.
"Oh honey, are you sure you can be on a tour bus? There may not be enough room," your mom worried.
Luke's jaw clenched ever so slightly and he rubbed circles into your leg. "With all do respect ma'am, I'm a very large man and I fit very well in the tour busses we use. Y/N will be comfortable with me."
"I just don't want it to be an incident is all," she shrugged and continued to down her alcohol.
"There will be no incident. And when we aren't in the bus, we stay in hotels," Luke stated.
"That makes a lot more sense. Do you two share a bed?" Your dad inquired.
"Dad."
"I'm just teasing, Y/N."
Luke cleared his throat. "Yes sir, we do share a bed. Makes lovemaking a bit more comfortable."
Your mom choked on her wine and your father's eyes widened to the size of dinner plates.
You coughed to hide a laugh and admired your boyfriend for actually putting your parents in their place.
Luke moved his hand to squeeze your thigh. "So as I was saying, she's coming on tour with me and I'm very excited that she can go."
Your parents stayed silent and one of your cousins chimed in. "That sounds like a lot of fun. I'm jealous, Y/N."
You smiled softly. "I'm excited to see a lot of new countries and cities that I would normally not be able to go to. Perks of having a band boyfriend."
"I'm more worried about people trying to flirt with you when I'm not around," Luke teased and placed a kiss on your hand.
"I don't think you have to worry about that, baby," you assured him with a kiss.
"Don't most countries prefer thinner women?" One of your older relatives joked and got laughs from other family members.
Luke had had enough and he grabbed your hand and stood up. "You are all incredibly rude. You think your jokes are funny. Or that you're "just teasing". It's extremely hurtful. We will not be spending any more time with you. Thank you for the drink. Now I'm taking my beautiful girlfriend back to our hotel where we can share that bed together."
Everyone shut up and stared at the man that called them out for being rude. Luke helped you off the loveseat and pulled you close and led you towards the door.
"We were kidding! You don't have to leave!" Your mom called out after the two of you.
Luke moved his hand to your ass and gave it a soft squeeze for good measure before leaving the house for good.
Back at the hotel, Luke pulled you into his arms while soft sobs wracked through your body.
"Oh baby. I am so sorry. I had no idea," he cooed and held you close.
"They couldn't even be happy for me without questioning how I got you," you spoke between sobs.
Luke's warm hands ran up and down your back in attempt to help calm you down. "I'm the one who got you, love."
Tears streamed down your cheeks and stained Luke's shirt. He softly brought you to the bed and laid you down, climbing on to the bed beside you. As soon as he got situated, he returned to holding you close in his chest.
"I got you, Y/N. My beautiful Y/N," he whispered. He raised his fingers to wipe the tears from your cheeks and gazed into your eyes. "I love you so much. All of you."
You sniffled and looked back into his clear blue eyes that contained worry for his girl. "All of me?"
He smiled softly and nodded. "All of you."
He gently stroked your cheek. "Your beautiful cheeks."
His hand moved to boop your nose softly. "Your perfect button nose."
He moved lower and stopped at your breasts. "Well we both know how I feel about those."
You giggled through your tears and listened to his soothing voice.
His fingers brushed against your stomach so sweetly. "Your soft stomach. Perfect for kissing and laying my head on after I eat you out."
He traced your thighs and smiled. "Your beautiful thighs that hold up my head when I want you to play with my hair."
He chuckled a little to himself. "I'm trying to be cute, so your pussy will stay out of this conversation because it will be way too raunchy."
That got you to laugh and the smile on his face was the best sight in the world.
He continuted on and softly squeezed your ass. "Perfect for holding through the night, during sex, or just because."
His hands climbed up your back, gently caressing every bump and roll they came in contact with. "Wonderful for holding you against me when we dance, kiss, or get frisky."
With every touch and affirmation, your tears slowed and your breathing calmed. His voice reminded you of every wonderful thing he adored about your body. His hands touching you so gently with care. He reminded you of the love he knew you deserved and that he would always give to you.
"We only need each other this Christmas okay? We will create new traditions, eat different food, and it will be full of love," he promised and pressed his forehead to yours.
"I wouldn't want it any other way," you murmured softly.
"I love you, baby. Merry Christmas."
"I love you too, Lu. Thanks for telling my parents that you regularly have sex with me."
His laugh filled the hotel room and you knew then and there that he was the family you could depend on.
(Oh lordy loo I am sweating from my eyes. I have been suffering from so many Luke thoughts and this did not help one bit. -Kenzie xx)

______________________________
Calum knew this was going to be a bad idea. The second Luke mentioned the holiday party, Calum immediately knew he wouldn’t be going. Or at the very least, he shouldn’t go. He should most definitely not go to a Christmas themed. Not one that he had a sneaky suspicion that you’d be at. However as the weeks passed and the guys assured Calum that from what they knew, you wouldn’t be there and even if you were, they’d make sure to be there for him. Not that he thought he needed it, but it was a Christmas themed party above anything and everything and that just made it harder.
Calum leaves the safety of the group to grab a drink. He had been nursing an empty cup for almost an hour now, mostly he didn’t want to go too far tonight. If he went too far he was bound to find that sad wall. It was literally a sad wall, but more like the wall of sadness. He’d get too drunk and the sadness that he had been slowly dealing with would overtake him again. And he’d curse everything all over again and he’d wallow in despair all over again and he’d want to hide in his sheets all over again and that’s not what he needed. He was making progress and maybe it’s just fear. Maybe it’s fear of the sadness creeping back in that makes Calum keep himself in check. He could probably go ham but he didn’t want to. He didn’t want the damn wall of sadness anymore.
“Oh, sorry,” a voice calls out.
“No, it’s okay,” Calum says looking up. He's not even sure what someone would be apologizing for. He catches movement, a hand snatching back like retreating from a hot stove. You. He’s staring at you.
“Sorry,” you state again and then turn your heel.
Calum grabs the beer from the cooler and then grabs another one too. “Hey, no, two people can get a drink at the same time.”
You turn back around and see the bottle of bee he has extended out to you. You take it though it’s cold and dripping with a bit of water from sitting in the puddle of melted ice at the bottom. “Thanks.”
Calum nods, taking in the antler headband on your head. He chuckles just a little and you take in Calum. The leather jacket, tanned skin still inked in tattoos, his chubby cheeks and the Santa hat on his head. It’s the only you gave him that matches your antlers. “It appears we still enjoy Christmas.”
You laugh just a little. “Yeah, it would appear so.”
He leans into the wall next to the counter of booze and tips the bottle of his neck towards you. “Do you remember when I tried to bake you Christmas cookies and nearly smoked out the entire house?”
“Yes, because you tried to set a timer for 10 minutes and set one for 10 hours and didn’t catch it until about half an hour later.”
Calum nods with a bit of cringe. “Not my shining moment.”
“Not worse than the first time we can to this very Christmas party and I got drunk off my literal ass and I vomited on your new shoes. In front of pretty much any and everyone that could advance your career.”
“We were outside and it was dark. Not that bad.” You raise your bottle at him and take a sip. “But what was good was your tree decorating skills. I haven’t quite captured your magic, not for trying.”
“The secret,” you start only interrupted by a sip of your beer, “is my mother. She gets new decorations every few years and us kids divvy up the the goods.”
Calum laughs. “Ah, was always your mum.” He liked your mum. She was always warm to him, let him help her in the kitchen whenever he would visit. She always sent him cards too, little silly ones just to make him laugh. You did things like that too. But you were more food based, you’d make new recipes or his favorite meals for him and there never needed to be any rhyme or reason for it--you’d just do it out of love.
To be honest, he still liked you.
“I almost called you,” you confess and you know you shouldn’t say it. But you’ve been a few beers deep into the night, even a shot or three. And the words are just tumbling over your lips. “Last week, a friend of a friend told them about this Christmas party and they invited me along and I almost called you.”
Calum perks up at the confession, even sets his beer onto the table and steps in closer to you. He leans into the counter and you’re still leaning into the wall, but your shoes touch at this juncture. “Almost called me, and said what?”
“Almost asked you if we should show up with your Santa and reindeer headgear but it seems like we were already on the same wave length,” you tap his boot with the toe of yours.
Calum chuckles, arms folded across his chest. “I was told to wear something festive and this was all I had that didn’t seem like I was trying to win the ugly Christmas sweater contest.”
“I take personal offense--I bought those sweaters!”
“We won that year and I thank you for that. But I wasn’t looking for a repeat. Besides, everyone would know.”
“Oh, screw them. Those were good ugly sweaters.” The two of you share another laugh and Calum sighs, staring at the cut of jaw, the slope of your cheek, how your eyelashes seem to move in slow motion when you blink. He drops his head. He shouldn’t ask. He should keep his mouth shut.
“What happened to us?” he asks with a sad sigh.
You sigh and stand up straight against the wall. This is not the conversation you wanted to have. And sure, skipping down memory lane was not the wisest choice the two of you made. But you are not going down this again. You couldn’t. “Calum I-I can’t.”
He sees your gears turning, knows you’re going to leave him again and he takes hold of your wrist. “Hey, no. I’m sorry. That was stupid to ask. I’m sorry.”
You turn to him and see the sad creases in his brows. “Time is what happened to us, Calum. Your career’s taking off. I’m finally figuring out what I really want to do with my life and time’s just not nice to people like us in this stage of our lives.”
“What about now? What’s time doing now for us?”
You sigh, finally looking up at Calum and your heart skips a beat. “I-I don't know. But I do know is that I do still have feelings for you Calum. And that’s not something I can lie about. Not to your face. But you’re going to be leaving still and I’m still going to want you there. And we will always be slightly misaligned.”
“No, don't say that. Please don’t say that. I love you and I hate that the universe is not being favorable to us. But goddamn, I can’t let you go again.”
And it’s just you and Calum staring at each other. You’re not sure if you want to set yourself up for potential heartbreak again. But it’s Calum. The man that even sometimes you wanted to ring his neck for not getting it sometimes, always managed to get in the end, the man that always knew what you needed with barely a glance and was okay with silence, but always ready to give you a good time when you wanted it.
“Then don’t.”

Living with Calum was like a dream come true.
Getting to wake up next to him every morning and go to sleep in his arms every night always puts a smile on your face. After everything got unpacked and everything found its place, it didn’t take long for the two of you to adjust. You were both incredibly happy.
With Christmas just around the corner, you were filled with excitement. Now that you were living together, you and Calum got to make your own Christmas traditions, part of that being buying decorations for your house. You each had a few things of your own, but this was a new chapter. A new Christmas together.
You wanted to go shopping with Calum, but one lazy afternoon of browsing decorations online while Calum was at the studio brought you to a website that made custom stockings. As one pretty design caught your eye, an idea popped into your head. You couldn’t bite back your smile as you put in an order, already counting the days until it would arrive.
In the meantime, during your shopping trip for decorations with Calum, you insisted you hated all of the stockings at the store, trying to put off buying them as long as possible. You kept the ones you ordered a surprise.
When they finally arrived, you carried the box to where Calum sat in the dining room, scrolling through his phone.
“I got something for us,” you announced excitedly, placing the box on the table in front of him. He glanced up at you with a grin and pulled the box closer.
“Yeah?” He mused. “What did you get?”
“Open it and see!”
Chuckling at your enthusiasm, Calum pulled open the box and pulled out the contents; three stockings. One with your name on it, one with Calum’s, and one with Duke’s.
“So this is why you hated all the stockings at the store, huh?” He teased, running his fingers over the fabric.
“Pretty much,” you answered. You leaned over and wrapped your arms around his shoulders. “Do you like them?”
“I love them, sweetheart,” he mumbled, pulling you around to sit on his lap. “And I love you. Thank you so much for getting these.”
“I love you too, bub.”
Although he didn’t show it, Calum was melting on this inside. Having your matching stockings really made living together feel real. They were your stockings, for your house. It made you feel like a family. It melted Calum’s heart that you thought to get personalized ones; not only for you and him, but for Duke as well, who was just as much a part of the family.
“Can we go put them up now?” You asked, glancing at him with a hopeful smile. He laughed and nodded, gently easing you off his lap.
You worked together to hang them on the fireplace and made sure they were evenly spaced out. Duke decided to join you, and Calum easily scooped him up.
“Look what Mama got for you, Duke,” Calum cooed, holding him up to his stocking. The corners of your lips quickly turned up; you would never get over how it felt to have Calum refer to you as Mama. “A stocking just for you. You are going to be one spoiled little dog this Christmas, I’m sure.”
“And you deserve to be spoiled, little man,” you giggled, giving him some pets. “What do you want for Christmas, Dukey?”
Duke barked in response, causing you both to laugh.
“I think he said he wants new Vans,” Calum translated, raising an eyebrow at you. You playfully rolled your eyes.
“Alright, I get the hint, bub.”
That night, you and Calum laid down in bed. He pulled you into his arms as he always did, and pressed a gentle kiss to your shoulder, as he always did. You laid quietly for a while, slowly starting to drift off to sleep.
“Baby?” Calum’s soft whisper caught your attention.
“Yeah?”
“Did you really get a stocking for the dog?”
You giggled and turned around his arms to face him.
“Of course I did. He needs one.”
“You’re so cute,” he chuckled, a look of pure adoration on his face. “I love you so much.”
“I love you too.”
Calum leaned in for a kiss, one soft yet full of love and excitement.
“Good night, my love.”

“Why are you doing this?” Calum asked making his way into the living where you were setting up the Christmas tree.
“It’s Christmas season!” you simply said.
It was the first week of December and you didn’t feel festive at all, the flat you now shared with Calum felt sad and empty without the classic Christmas tree and lights around the house, so you took out all the decorations that were now in boxes around the living room and you also took a trip to the store to get even more decorations while he was at the studio.
“I know that” he stated “but isn’t it a little bit early to put up a tree and shit”
“Don’t be a grinch” you teased “we could use some holiday cheer up in here”
“I’m not being a grinch” he said “I’m just saying that November literally finished yesterday”
“Oh, now you care about dates” you said in a playful tone.
Calum chuckled it wasn’t uncommon of him to forget the date and month since the pandemic began, and the schedule he had grown accustomed thanks to the hectic life to band was now nonexistent. Promo concerts, interviews, meeting fans and tours became binge watching Netflix, working out and just taking time to rest.
He missed performing and his bandmates, but he liked this new normal too, especially the part where he got to spend it with you. The pandemic and spending this crazy reality with you confirmed him that the crush he had on you helped him understand that it wasn’t just a crush. He was in love with you, but he just couldn’t let you know that.
“Ok” he gave in “what do you want me to do?”
“Can you play Christmas music please?”
“Any requests?” he asked taking his phone from his back pocket.
“Last Christmas would be good” you replied “or just any song by glee”
Calum chuckled pressing play on Last Christmas glee version so you could have both your favorite Christmas song and a cover by glee playing at the same time.
“Thank you” you told him once you recognized the song playing “now help me get the lights”
Songs kept playing as you got the tree with more and more decorations and Calum put the stuff around the house, you broke an ornament while jingle bell rock was playing.
“It wasn’t my fault” you defended yourself cleaning it up.
“Sure” he looked at you with an amused look. He loved how clumsy you could be sometimes.
The only thing the tree was missing was the golden star on top and since the tree was taller than you, you let Calum have the honors of putting it. The last thing before you could sit with him and watch Christmas movies.
All I want for Christmas was playing now.
“And what do you want for Christmas this time?” he asked you once the tree was ready and completely decorated. It looked beautiful.
“The pandemic to be over” you laughed thinking how ironic it was his question given the song playing in the background “and you?”
“That’s a good wish” he agreed with a smile as he saw you walking back to the kitchen.
“Would it be cheesy if I said that all I want for Christmas is you?” he asked you again as you prepared two mugs with hot chocolate. It was a bold move of him, but he had to act on his feelings it had started to become a lot for him to handle.
“What?” this had to be a dream there no way your amazing roommate and best friend Calum felt the same way about you.
“Well, I’ve had this crush on you since who knows when never acted or did something about it” he explained “spending lockdown and all this madness with you made me realize it was more than just a crush I’m in love with you”
You stared at him speechless this was actually happening and you couldn’t believe that you weren’t dreaming he was admitting his feelings for you and you couldn’t help but smile and though your silence was worrying Calum a little too much, but that smile told him everything he needed to know, that smile he loved.
One I’ve been missing by Little Mix was playing now.
“So, can I kiss you now?”
“Don’t we need a mistletoe?” you teased.
He chuckled at your words pulling you closer and finally connecting his lips with you.
Who needs a mistletoe anyways?

under the mistletoe I c.t.h
Tumblr media Tumblr media
a/n;  this fic is based off of mistletoe by justin bieber (its easily one of my fave songs by him)  and prompts i found on here
prompts used - “You’re under the mistletoe so stop stalling and just kiss.” “I guess… this is when we kiss?”
summary; attending ashton’s annual christmas/holiday party you arrive at the same time as calum. you step inside to are faced with the inevitable truth- your feelings for calum.
pairing; calum/reader // word count; 1,115 masterlist // ficmas masterlist //
warnings; drinking/alcohol & fluff

You flattened your outfit as you stepped out of your car; unlocking it you walked towards Ashton's house towards his annual Christmas Party. You smiled when you'll recognized a familiar face meeting yours. He smiled at you and waved as he got closer, he stretched his arms out for a tight hug as his scent engulfed your lungs.
"Hey you, I thought you'd be here already!"
"I forgot what time it started!" Calum chuckled as you walked towards the front door.
"When do you leave for the holidays?" He asked with a smile as his shoulder brushed yours.
"Monday, I thought it would be better to head out the week before Christmas than the week of." You mentioned, as Christmas Music welcomed you to Ashton's house before entering.
"Oh that's so soon!" He leaned against the door.
You asked “When are you leaving for Australia?"
"I'm not going this year, my family is coming here for the first time for Christmas." He said excitedly as he stood up straight remembering he was at a party.
"Oh that will be exciting!" You smiled as you opened the door, Ashton, Kay Kay and Michael standing nearby.
You looked up to see why they were all smiling like idiots at the both of you when you stepped in at the same time.
Mistletoe.
It was hanging right by the front door.
"Look who's under the mistletoe!"
Calum's cheek turned bright red as he realized what was going to happen next. "Who put mistletoe right by the front door?"
"Who do you think?" Michael retorted with a giggle.
"We didn't come together-"You started to say as Calum chimed in.
"So we probably shouldn't."
"Yeah plus I need to run to the bathroom." You lied as Ashton crossed his arms.
"You're under the mistletoe so stop stalling and just kiss." Ashton asserted as you faced Calum for the incoming kiss between the two of you.
"I guess..this is when we kiss?" Calum said nervously as his body faced yours.
"I guess so." You hesitated to learn forward not wanting to make it obvious.
He leaned forward and pressed his soft lips in a heart stopping kiss, his hands yours cupping your face as you poured everything you had into kissing him. You'd dreamt of kissing Calum for as long as you could remember; it was so cliche to be in love with your best friend but how could you not be?
The wolf whistles and cheers brought the two of you back into the party as his lips left yours. He cleared his throat before your eyes met his and he slowly moved his hands away from you.
Calum walked up to Ashton whose jaw was slacked, “That was more than just a kiss dude.”
“Change of subject Ash, why put the mistletoe right there?”
"It was Luke's idea to put it there, we didn't think you two would walk in together!"
"I wanted to kiss them on my own, not enforced." Calum mentioned as he sighed.
“Mate, I don’t think they mind.." Ashton winked as he showed Calum the spiked eggnog.
Sierra, Luke and Ashton talked to Calum as they drank the eggnog. Calum's eyes met yours across the room. You looked away as Crystal walked up to you with a giant smile on your face, "Spill. I need to know how that kiss was."
Sierra joined as you gushed about the infamous kiss that you couldn't stop thinking about. Whenever you closed your eyes it replayed in your head; his warm hands on your face, how effortless and perfect it was considering you'd never kissed him before. You felt his eyes on you as you finished your story, your cheeks turned pink as you grabbed a cookie and slowly ate it to mask your anxiousness.
He groaned as he saw you lick your lips in an effort to clean remaining frosting. "Mate you need to stop staring at them."
His eyes met Luke’s as he blushed, "I can't stop thinking about the kiss if I tried."
"Do you really want to?"
"Absolutely not, but I don't know how they'll feel.." Calum sighed finishing his cranberry punch.
"They kissed you back Cal, the only way to truly know is to talk to them.”
"You've got a point, I just keep replaying it in my head." Calum mentioned as he put his hands in his pockets, "I'm gonna go outside."
Luke patted him on the back as he made his way towards the front door; you caught Calum leaving and realized you wouldn't sleep tonight if you didn't talk to him.
You opened the front door as Calum's eyes met yours. He smiled as he put his cigarette in his pocket. "Hey."
"Hi, did I stop you from leaving?"
"No, I was gonna smoke. What's up?" He asked as he put his hands in his pocket.
You attempted to swallow the ever growing lump in your throat; how were you going to tell the person you’d been in love with for so long you couldn’t remember a time you weren’t in love with him?
“I’m guessing you want to talk about the kiss.”
“Yeah, Cal I understand if you don’t feel the same way as I feel about you but that kiss, ” You blurted; his gaze fixed on you as he stepped closer to you making the space between you non-existent. “Was perfect.”
“I feel the same way, I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it.” He admitted as you stepped closer to him as his hands held your waist as you bit your bottom lip in anticipation.
.”I can’t either, not that I want to stop.”
His lips ghosted over yours, “I should’ve known when you kissed me back”
“I should’ve known by the way you kissed me” You swooned before pressing a soft kiss to his lips.
He sighed happily before kissing your lips softly, “Imagine how I’d kiss you if we were alone.”
“We’re alone right now Cal” You giggled and he chuckled realizing how stupid he sounded.
“In that case.” He breathed before his lips attacked yours passionately as he held your waist, you wrapped your arms around his neck pulling him closer as you stood in front of Michael’s house kissing as the world around you disappeared. He softly licked your lower lip as you opened your mouth fully to deepen the kiss, your bodies pressed together as you made out. Unsure of how long you’d been making out- it could’ve been 10, it could’ve been 40- when he says with his husky voice, “Let’s get outta here, yeah?”
You nodded, “Absolutely, lead the way.”

12 days of dovemas

author’s notes: welcome to december everyone! this is 12 days of dovemas, where we get to see what the doves and (sometimes) their kids get up to during the holiday season.

Calum knew parenthood would include new experiences. When Charlie was first born he had seconds to learn what each one of his little noises meant and when Eloise was born he felt a little more confident in his parenting abilities. However, nothing prepared Calum for what he was currently doing in his office on the day before December started. Dovey and the kids had gone to bed early, school runs and errands making their sleep schedules match one another, Calum had been in his office working on what he liked to call the masterpiece of the season. How he had convinced himself that he was able to make an advent calendar for his family to count the days down until Christmas was beyond him. But he'd already been working on the calendar for what felt like weeks and he all he was missing was the calendar itself. So that's how Calum found himself in his office late into a Monday night, hot gluing felt together so it resembled a Christmas tree.
He'd gotten the idea from his mom, who had called him a few weeks back while she was unpacking the Christmas decorations that she'd been planning to put up around the house. She'd pulled out a wooden tree figure that had little drawers on each day of the month and Calum was transported back to his childhood where he would open up a new box every day to find a treat as the days inched closer to Christmas. He'd never even thought about his children not having the experience of an advent calendar until that day and he immediately got to work on planning the best advent calendar ever. He'd snuck off to the store on days where he knew Dovey and the kids were at school activities or when he was meant to be at the studio, arriving a few minutes later to recording sessions with his car full of decorations and crafting supplies.
His plan was to fill each day with either candy for all of them or an activity that the family could all enjoy. One day he had slipped in tickets to the zoo, another had candy canes and little Lego sets he knew the kids would like. But his favorite had to be the day where he had planned to take them all to Dovey's family home and spend Christmas with them. It had been a couple of months since Dovey had spent time with them and Calum knew he missed them, the kids too, so he was making it part of their Christmas adventures this year, something he hoped both Dovey and the kids would love.
Calum was sat in the living room, staring at the green felt tree that was proudly hung onto the wall, weeks of hard work finally paid off as he waited for his family to wake up. Duke was sleeping in his lap, snoring the morning away while Calum sipped his coffee, soft Christmas music playing throughout the house as December first finally arrived. It wasn't until his cup of coffee was finished that he heard the familiar sound of pitter-patter, Charlie and Eloise both rushing downstairs after hearing the music playing. Calum saw the way their eyes lit up when they landed on the advent calendar and then back on him.
"Papa! What is that! It looks magical!" Eloise said happily, rushing over to Calum's side and climbing into his lap, "Is that our new Christmas tree?"
"It's our advent calendar, baby. It's a countdown to Christmas so every day we get to open a new day and get a treat from it!" Calum nodded as he held his daughter, close, smoothing back the unruly curls that hid her bright eyes. "Do you like it?"
"It's so cool! Like the one, we made for you, papa! Can we open it all now?!"
"No Elly! We can't open them now!"
"Yes, we can!"
"No!"
"How about we all thank papa for making such a cool advent calendar for us and show him the one you guys worked so hard on?" Dovey said, breaking up the mini fight from the two kids on Calum's lap.
She had disappeared, walking off down the hallway as the two kids on Calum's lap bounced in excitement over the fact that the surprise they somehow managed to keep from him was finally going to be revealed. It wasn't until Dovey came back into the living room holding a shoebox that the kids had colored and decorated with a generous amount of stickers and glitter that Calum realized he wasn't the only one who had been up late crafting.
"It's for you, papa." Charlie said as Calum took the box from a very doe eyed Dovey, "We decorated it and put lots of drawings in there! But you can only see one every day."
"Well, I think this is the best advent calendar ever!" Calum nodded.
It wasn't until later that day when the kids had gone off to school, each with a candy cane from the first day of their advent calendar that Calum had looked at his first gift of the holiday season. The shoebox was covered in stickers, some of which he was sure Elly had made the executive decision on placing to cover whatever logo was on the box before. Inside the box, Envelopes held either a  drawing that each of the kids had drawn or a picture they'd picked out and Dovey had printed out. According to Dovey, the photos were for Calum so he could always keep them with him whenever he wasn't home, the two kids knowing he'd be away for a few days in December to promote the latest single the band had released. When he was packing his bags to leave for the promo trip, he made sure to bring his shoebox of envelopes, promises that he would facetime his family so they could open their advent calendars together being sworn into his heart before he left for the airport.

Blissful
A/N: So... I wrote this while feeling super soft. Enjoy:)
-
A groan leaves my lips, the sounds of seagulls cawing fills the room as the balcony doors were wide open, the breezy beach air flowing inside. I stretch out my limbs, cringing when my joints pop loudly. I roll onto my stomach, facing the dark blue water below.
Calloused fingers running across my thigh draws my eyes away from the ocean and towards the tan God lying beside me.
"G'morning baby" I smile down at him, my eyes shift back to the gorgeous view outside. "What are you looking at?"
"Just watching the world" he hums in acknowledgement, tossing an arm over his eyes.
A few minutes go by and I hear soft snores come from his lips. I giggle and quietly get up, tossing on his black shirt from the night before and walk into the kitchen.
Duke runs behind me, heading straight for the French doors leading to the ocean.
"Okay buddy. Let's go on a walk" I grab my white cardigan and his leash before opening the doors, shivering slightly at the cool breeze.
We walk up and down the shore for a while before nestling down on the warming sand.
"Thought I'd find you out here" I glance behind me, seeing Calum standing in just gray sweatpants, holding a steaming mug.
"Sleep well?" I ask, watching him shuffle down the steps before plopping down next to me.
"I did. Man, its kinda cold out here" he says, rubbing his hands up and down his arms, scooting even closer to me.
"Wanna go inside and start a fire?" He nods eagerly, standing up and helping me to my feet. "You have so much sand on your butt, hang on" I laugh, trying to dust him off but he squeals and turns around to face me.
"Hands off now! I have a girl friend"
"Hmmm try fiance babe" I wrap my arms around his torso after flashing the diamond ring sitting on my finger.
"Ah of course. How could I be so silly to forget that" he smiles at me before connecting our lips together in a sweet, quick kiss. "Now. If I remember correctly, there's a big couch in front of a fire inside. How about we get in there and make some magic" he says, wiggling his eyebrows with a smirk on his face.
"You are something else" I intertwine our fingers, pulling him towards the house.
"You love me"
"Damn straight"

heart to heart. [poly!Cashton discussing becoming parents]
warnings: poly!relationship. discussion of having kids. a slightest bit of angst of not getting accepted being in this relationship.
word count: 1098
----------
“Hey, Cal… are you still up?”
You felt Ashton move next to you where you were cuddled into his side, trying not to jolt you awake as he faced your other boyfriend (husband, you reminded yourself – they were both your husbands now, even if legally it was not something you were able to do). Calum hummed behind your back, sitting on the edge of the mattress as he tossed his shirt into the hamper, pulling his legs up to slip under the covers. He settled against your back, arm curling around your waist to be close as well, head fitting above yours and resting on his pillow.
You let out a soft sound at finally being held by both of them, letting your body adjust to theirs on both sides of you, and was ready to fall back to sleep when Ashton spoke again.
“Everything’s okay?”
“Yeah, just… long conversation with my Mom,” Calum rubbed his eyes before looking back at Ashton. “Just the usual.”
“She’s still not letting go of the whole thing, eh?” Ash pushed himself up on his elbow, searching Calum’s features in the semi-darkness of the room.
“No, it’s… it’s not Y/N. Well, not entirely. It’s complicated.”
“Try me, I’m good at complicated things,” Ashton replied, motioning towards you and Calum then at himself, indicating the three-way relationship you were in for years now.
“She asked me about kids,” Cal finally answered, and you could feel both of their arms tightening around you for a second.
“What about kids?” Ashton asked again, his voice curious and maybe a bit unsure.
This was a topic that you did not touch on yet. Sure, you knew that along the way it would come up and you will need to discuss the fine details on how you want to approach the whole parenting thing, if you wanted kids at all, but all of you were still basking in the second honeymoon stage that came right after your so-called wedding at which all three of you promised forever to each other, even though for the outside world you were still considered as three people being in a consensual relationship with each other, nothing more. But kids – that would change a lot of things for sure.
“She asked me if we would ever consider becoming parents, and how we think it would work out. Wouldn’t it damage the kids for life, having two dads? Would they know who’s their dad? Who’s the impostor? What would happen if Y/N got pregnant by only one of us? How would the other feel? Or how would we know who’s the dad?”
“Would it really matter?”
Ashton’s voice was soft and that made Calum stop in his ramble. You could imagine him blinking rapidly as his best-friend-turned-lover-turned-husband, and you heard him let out a breath he was holding in, slumping back against the pillow again.
“Dunno. What do you think?” his fingers tangled with Ashton’s over your waist, squeezing each other’s hand.
“Do you want to have kids?” Ashton asked instead, his thumb caressing Calum’s hand.
“Eventually… but not right fucking now,” he sighed, some of his words getting muffled against the sheets. “I don’t feel ready. I’m still too young.”
“And how would it make you feel if I wanted to try for a baby with Y/N?”
You tried to stay as quiet and motionless as possible, waiting for Calum and Ashton to continue their discussion. Ashton’s words were playing over and over in your mind, and you were not alone with your fixation on what he’d said.
“I’ve thought you didn’t want kids, at all,” Calum questioned him, eyebrow probably cocked at the other man and it was Ashton’s turn to sigh, but it wasn’t his usual frustrated huff of breath, but more like a soft exhale that paired with love and affection as he continued to speak.
“It’s different with her. Different with you. I love you both and I feel secure in this relationship. I know we could provide all the love and attention and care a child would need. I want to have a family with the two of you, whenever and however it happens,” he added before moving closer to Calum, maneuvering around your sleeping form until he could press his lips against his forehead. “We’re not in a rush. If it needs to happen, it will happen. We don’t even know how Y/N feels about the whole thing.”
“She would be a great mom. And you would be a great dad, Ash. I would love that for you, more than anything,” Calum’s whispers were tickling your ear, their hands still squeezing each other.
“So you–”
“I wouldn’t mind you and Y/N trying for a baby if that’s what she wants too. I’m fine with wearing a condom and all, just to be sure. And who knows, maybe being Papa to a little one would make me want to have my own kid too,” Cal finally settled down again, his body slowly losing the tension it was holding.
“That means I would be Daddy?” Ashton snickered, and you could imagine Calum rolling his eyes at him, his little huffing laugh giving him away.
“You are already Daddy, you know that.”
They exchanged a few more words and a sweet little goodnight, both of them finding their own place next to you as they cuddled close. Calum’s light snores soon let you know that he fell asleep, but as you tried to follow his lead you felt Ashton pressing a kiss on your forehead, humming lightly as he traced the tip of his nose against yours.
“I know you’re not sleeping, Y/N,” he mumbled against your cheek, a smile pulling at the corner of his mouth as you blinked up at him, looking a little guilty. “Were you eavesdropping?”
“You weren’t quite subtle and quiet,” you squeezed your arm around his waist, pushing your face against the soft skin of his neck, inhaling his scent. “But I liked listening to you, I’m not gonna lie. I love how you love Calum and how you talked him through all of this.”
“And how do you feel about it all?” his fingers dived into your hair, playing with the strands, his voice once again turning soft and maybe a bit self-conscious. “About the whole kids thing?”
“That it’s definitely a discussion for when we’re all awake, officially,” you pressed your lips against the underside of his jaw, a smile in your voice. “But I do agree. You would be a great Daddy, and Calum would be the best Papa.”

Christmas Decorations
Tumblr media
Summary: Anon request- I wonder if Cal's kids would want to draw ornaments for the tree so it can match his tattoos? And they make sure they swear mom to secrecy until Christmas Eve where they can take all the regular ornaments off and put their special ones on while he's asleep. And most are just scribbles cause they're young and got distracted but it becomes tradition for the kids to make him ornaments. And of course there's a lot of different colored Duke paws which they made a mess making
A/N: @baldcalum come get your anons before I swerve please and thanks, love. Until then, enjoy this HELLA SOFT Cal blurb. Happy holidays y’all!
And away, and away we go!
~~~
“Mommy, look!” Aurora smiled up at you, thrusting a drawing into your hands
“Oh, so pretty Ro!” you praised the 4 year old as you looked at the drawing. “Tell me all about it,” you said, taking a seat at the kitchen table with her, wanting both to show your interest in her work and curious as to what the scribbles meant.
“It’s Daddy’s tattoos!” she told you. “Can we put it on the tree, Mommy?”
“Of course!” you told her. The kids were too young so school decorations wouldn’t be a thing until next year when Aurora started school. So currently, the Hood Christmas tree was decorated in traditional colorful bulbs, lights, and a 3 family ornaments that highlighted both the children’s first Christmases in addition to your first one with Calum. It was cute. But you wanted more family decorations to replace the boring bland ones. Aurora’s idea seemed like the perfect way to make that happen. “Noah, do you wanna draw pictures with Ro?” you asked the 2 year old boy.
“Colors?!” he asked, clapping his hands in excitement.
“C’mon, Noah! We’re gonna make the tree pretty like Daddy’s arms!”
“Daddy’s arms!” Noah agreed, hurrying over. They loved how Calum’s tattoos were just black ink. You would often find him on the living room floor, both kids coloring them in with washable markers. It was a sight that never failed to melt your heart.
Side-by-side your children sat at the table and drew picture after picture until they grew bored and tired, even asking you to dip Duke’s paws in some paint so “He can be on the tree too, Mommy!”
Then, you carefully cut around their drawings, hole punching each work of art, and threading a bright red ribbon through it.
“Alright, you guys ready to put them on our tree?”
“No!” they told you, shaking their heads.
“What? Why not?”
“Surprise!” Noah said.
“Yeah, we wanna surprise Daddy,” Aurora explained better.
“Alright. We’ll put them up on Christmas before Daddy wakes up, okay?”
“Yay!” Noah cheered.
“When’s Christmas, Mommy?” Aurora asked.
“Two days,” you told her. “Think we can keep it a secret that long?”
She made a serious face, “I can do it!”
“Yes, you can!” you smiled at her.
~~~
“Mommy, pst, Mommy,” Aurora whispered, nudging you gently.
“Mmm, what is is baby?” you mumbled sleepily.
“The tree, Mommy,” she continued to whisper, not wanting to wake Calum who was sound asleep next to you.
Your eyes snapped open. “Oh, right,” you whispered back, carefully getting out of bed. “C’mon, let’s go get Noah.”
~~~
Calum was expecting to be woken up by his children bouncing on his and your bed in excitement. So when he heard the giggles, he grinned into his pillow, preparing himself for the attack. Only, the giggles continued and the attack never came. “What the…?” he muttered, opening his eyes and not finding you asleep in bed. “What the…?” he said again, getting out of bed and following the sound of the giggles. “What the?!” he said a third time, his face breaking out in a grin as he noticed the tree. Last night it had been covered in the same decorations as every year. Now, it was decked out in drawings the children had made and his family stood before it, beaming back at him.
“Merry Christmas, Cal!”
“Merry Christmas, Daddy!”
“Christmas!”
“Merry Christmas, my babies. What’s all this?” he asked, stepping forward to kiss you and pick up both kids.
“We made it pretty!” Aurora told him.
“Daddy’s arms!” Noah said, pointing at the drawings.
“Oh, you’re right. They are my tattoos. How nice, guys. You did amazing. Oh, is this Duke’s? Aw, you guys!”
“Do you like it, Daddy?” Aurora asked, placing her small hands on either of Calum’s cheeks, scrunching his face together.
He blew a raspberry at her, causing both children to let out a shrill giggle of delight. “I love it, princess,” he smiled at her, rubbing his nose against hers. “I think I’m sensing the beginning of a new tradition.”
“In that case, you’re gonna need more tattoos,” you teased him. “Merry Christmas, Cal.”
“Merry Christmas, baby.”
Dear Hailey, first of all, thank u for the opportunity and cool idea of blurbs again! Can I request 18. Christmas dinner with Ashton?
Aw you’re welcome! I hope you like my little twist on this one!😊
Tumblr media
You got sick the week before Christms canceling your plans of visiting your family. It was a horrible flu and your fever didn’t break until the day before Christmas Eve but you were still feeling fatigued and lousy. Ashton never left your side and took care of you through it all.
You tried to urge him to still go to the Christmas party at Andy and Sarah’s on Christmas Eve but he wouldn’t leave you even though you slept all day
During your sickness-nap on Christmas day, he ran to the store to pick up all of your favorite comfort foods for when you are sick. He got chicken noodle soup, jell-o, rotisserie chicken, mashed potatoes, ice cream and popsicles. You were still fast asleep in bed when he came home so he got to work on making a spread in the living room.
When you awoke, you shuffled into the living room just as he’s finished fluffing up pillows and blankets on the couch gazing at all the food on the coffee table.
“What’s this?” you ask clearing your throat.
“Our Christmas dinner,” he grins holding out his hand presenting it to you. “And your throne of pillows and blankets.”
You spend the whole day eating and sleeping on and off watching holiday movies. By the time it’s dusk, Ashton gives you your presents and it’s of course everything on your wish list.
“I didn’t have time to wrap yours,” you tell him sadly.
“You can give them to me when you’re feeling better,” he kisses your temple then pulls you close to continue watching the marathon of claymation movies.
Ashton ended up getting sick on New Year’s Eve so you did exactly what he did and bought all of his favorite comfort foods. You took care of him and kissed his warm cheek as the ball dropped on your tv screen. He’s been asleep since nine but he didn’t want to leave you on the couch by yourself as the new year rang in.
“Happy New Year’s, baby,” you whisper.
His eyes flutter open, they’re red and watery.
“Happy New Year,” he mumbles.
“Let’s get to bed.”
With some coaxing, he forced himself off the couch and leaned on you towards the bedroom. Once he was feeling much better he took you out to your favorite fancy restaurant complete with a fake champagne cheers of the New Year.
_________________
Ashton and Calum are the first to head to the check-in. The rest of the guys are pulling out their last bits of luggage from the truck. You trail in the middle, still laughing at Luke’s fumbling on the snow. But soon the wind chill creeps up through your jacket and you contemplate heading inside and grabbing your spare key.
From the counter, as Ashton sorts out the keys needed, Calum glances out to the front door. You’re standing right near the doors, doubled over. He knows it’s you standing there too, can tell by the hiccup of your laughter that’s just muffled enough that Calum can almost belief it’s his subconscious playing a trick on him. “Are you sure you’re okay rooming with them? It won’t be too weird given the whole you not telling your feelings for them because they just lost their brother and you don’t want to seem too insensitive.”
“You make it seem like I’m being weird about this?”
Calum you’ve had feelings for forever. Yes, they lost their brother this year but you’ve been there for everything. You’ve been nothing but respectful. But they’re doing a lot better. They came on to this trip to have fun. Try to get back to normal because everything and everyone at home keeps treating them as fragile.
“Ashton, it just doesn’t feel like the best time.”
“And will be the right time? When will you every have the best time to tell them your feelings, mate? Because I don’t think there’s ever been a best time in life. There’s only ever now or never.”
Calum shakes his head. “Right now is not good,” he utters and then grabs his bags. Sure, you and Calum had been close for a while. He had been there for a lot. But he couldn’t risk it. This Christmas was going to be hard on you after what happened and there was no way Calum could even consider dumping his feelings on you at a time like this. No, this is the time for you to have some fun. That’s all he needed to focus on.
“Looks like it’s me and you,” he teases, dangling the key in your face.
“Hmm, I guess you’ll do,” you laugh. Michael, Ashton, and Luke watch the two of you trek across the resort to your room.
“Do you think they’ll confess anything on this trip?” Luke asks.
Ashton sighs. “I don’t know. I think Calum’s overthinking the whole thing. But I also get it. He doesn’t want to push them. I hope the universe is cooking up something.”
“I got dibs something happens tonight,” Michael laughs.
“Ah, you are a betting man. I’m saying tomorrow,” Ashton counters.
“I don’t know,” Luke tacks on. “Calum’s been super careful about all this. I think possibly by the end. Gonna need a little bit of romance sparked before anything happens.”
The snow crunches beneath your boots but you’re thankful the house isn’t that far from the check-in. Inside, you thankful to see a bit of warmth or heat had been on previously. There’s a fireplace in the main area. You trail down the hallways to unload your suitcases before settling in. As Calum cracks open the door, a singular bed stares back up at him. It’s a queen sized bed. There’s space, but there’s only one.
“Have you seen a ghosts?” you asks, noticing the way Calum freezes.
“Oh-I-Sorry.”
He steps into the room and then you wheel your bags in behind you. You look up to the bed and your heart races. You thought for sure your room would have at least two beds. But it’s okay. There are worst things that could happen. Like you waking up in Calum’s arms. Fuck. “So which side do you want?” you asks facing Calum’s practically still frozen pose.
“I’m not picky,” he counters.
You pick the left and drag your suitcase over. You manage to find where the thermostat is located and turn it up just a little after unwrapping yourself from your winter gear. You explore throughout the house too, finding the kitchen and seeing how much space there is. The fire place doesn’t seem too complicated but you don’t mess with it too much. The backdoor opens up to the yard. It’s covered in snow too, but something about the tree lines and the dusting of the snow covering the land for as long as the eye can see. It’s breathtaking.
The rest of the guys come in then, partners with them. But you stay at the door, watching. You wish you could take a photo to do it justice. You wish you could take even a shitty phone picture and send it to your brother. And you could--in theory. Because he was on your plan and you haven’t removed that line yet at all. You could text his phone. It would deliver. But it would never be seen. And that’s how you know you’ve been standing too long.
You return to the room, faintly hearing the other guys and their partners settling into their rooms, just as Calum steps out of the bathroom, a towel thrown over his shoulder and just sweatpants on for the moment. The sight doesn’t shock you, but it does make you freeze for just a moment, not ready to see it and you duck your head digging into your suitcase.
“Everything alright?” Calum unearths a sweatshirt but he doesn’t miss the way you disappeared.
“Yeah, yeah. I’m okay.”
You head into the shower next and let the steam billow around you. The heat nearly scorches your skin, but you almost like it. You enjoy the fact that it reminds you you’re still alive, you’re still feeling. It’s Christmas time. You should be having fun. The house is decorate in garland and wraths there would be Christmas cheer being pumped into your veins but as it stands, there’s just trying, pretending just a little, just enough that it feels like something.
The sheets don’t even feel real when you slip into bed. It feels like you’re drowning. You lay there fore a moment, trying to grip onto the sheets to ground yourself. But it just all feels too clean, too stiff, too not lived in. And you’re still drowning. You sit up, suddenly aware of the sweat dripping down your back.
“Hey,” a soft hand caresses your arm. “what’s up?”
You look over to Calum who’s turned to his side. “I-I can’t sleep.”
 “Talk to me.”
“It’s the same thing as always,” you sigh. “And I don’t want to bore you with those details. Yet again.”
Calum sits up. “No, bore me. Yet again.”
You sigh, scrubbing over your face. “It’s okay, Calum. Go back to sleep.”
“Alright, get up,” he sighs and slips out of bed. You don’t move, unsure of what his plan is. He holds out his hands and waves his fingers. “Seriously, c’mon. Get up. This calls for hot chocolate.”
Giving in, you pull the sheets off your body and take his hand. His hold is warm and the two of you pad softly through the door. You hold onto his hand, trying not to conjure up anything in the shadows. The kitchen is the only light source and you settle at the counter as Calum finds mugs and a packet of hot chocolate. He knows he most definitely added it to the list that Ashton sent to everyone and Calum made sure to add that.
The spoons click against the ceramic mug. The steam escapes into the chilly air. “So,” Calum starts, leaning across from you. “Tell me. Everything.”
“I’m pretending,” you answer. “I am pretending. And sometimes I’m not sure I’m convincing myself.” Calum nods in understanding, watching you take a sip of the drink. “Some days are easier than others. I don’t know--something about that bed, it all felt fake. I hate that feeling. I don’t know. It just--I need to be okay with not being okay. And I am most of the time. It’s just sometimes, like right now, it makes me realize time just keeps going. And I want to go with it too, it’s just hard.”
“What could I do to help?”
“You’ve done more than enough,” you say, taking his hands. “More than enough.”
Calum nods again, trying not to memorize the way your hands feels wrapped around his again. “You know I’m here for you. What if,” he pauses and catches of the sight. “What if we slept on the couch? No fake bed.”
You look over your shoulder and inhale deeply. It is not a small couch but it is also not a very large couch. “Oh, Calum, no, I couldn’t.” But before you can say much else he’s taking your hand and dragging you towards the couch. “It’s so small,” you counter as he settles down on the couch.
“Good thing I’m comfy,” he returns. You sit next to him, careful of the hot chocolate still steaming in the cup.
“Calum, really, you can go back to the room, I’m okay by myself.”
“Nah. I won’t stand for that.” He guides you into his chest, and it’s just sitting, cuddled up next to each other. And you manage to finish the beverage but you don’t last much longer against sleep nor can you give into the way Calum’s wrapped you into his arms. At some point, he stretched out across the couch and you cuddled up on his chest. And maybe there are blankets. But you’re not sure. The only thin you’re sure about is that this doesn’t feel fake anymore. This doesn’t make you feel like you’re drowning.
“I told you it would only take the night,” Michael laughs, watching to two of you cuddled up on the couch.
“If that’s a pool you guys ran about confessing feelings, you're shit out of luck, Clifford,” Calum whispers. You haven’t woken up yet, or so Calum assumed, and he doesn’t want to move too much. He’d rather let you sleep even if it meant he has to lay there for an extra hour or two or three. You need the rest.
“I’m still in luck,” Luke adds on.
“Me too,” Ashton quips.
“I told you nothing was going to happen this trip because they need to focus on healing, and getting back to normal not me or my feelings for them,” Calum hisses out again, scooting up every so slightly on the couch. You don’t seem to be aware or bothered by the movement.
“You like them. Just admit it. It would all save us a lot of trouble,” Ashton giggles.
You try not to snort, you really try not you. The whispers of Michael and Luke woke you just a little but it was the rumble of Calum’s voice was the one that kept you up for sure. Calum freezes, eyes widening at the feeling of you shaking against his chest. It goes quiet in the entire room when the rest of the guys notice the panic too.
“Luke,” you start, pushing up from Calum’s chest. But you don’t look away from Calum’s panicked face. “I hope everyone brought cash for you.”
It’s in slow motion as you stretch up and plant a kiss on the corner of his mouth, close enough that it almost connects but just far off the mark that Calum knows. His heart races and he cups your face. “What was that for?”
“Thank you. I like you. And I know it’s a fucked up time in my life. But you are really cute and you care. So I wanna try just give me some time.”
A shadow casts over them and when Calum glances up there’s Ashton holding a mistletoe. “Kiss and make it real,” he laughs.
