@vampirefaun’s fic Thousand Gold Come-And-Go Stew is the canonical Hua Cheng memory loss extra to me so go read it if you haven’t already! I’ve wanted to make fanart of it for a while, and even did a sketch in August (below the cut) but finally got around to it because of today’s prompt :)

the sketch i made in august ↓. the colors on this were already pretty harmonized so i colormapped them a little bit more to use as a palette for my final drawing.

What's wrong with VLC?

truth is im not quite smart enough abt digital video to explain it in detail myself. but the short answer is, VLC cant always handle all the information in a video file, esp for files made by fanatics (i.e. anime rips). vlc will have a weird purple rendering issue or the subs won't work or something and there's no way to fix any of that.

MPC (media player classic) has a bunch of custom codecs, subtitle sync and font options, can play a whole folder of vids in order without a playlist, detailed access and tinkering of audio tracks... there's way more options, features, and technical benefits than i can explain.

here's a link to the downloads list, just pick the one that sounds right and itll run right out of the box ezpz. and here's a link to describe many of the benefits, if yr curious for info. basically: VLC is Alienware, MPC with K-Lite Codec is a perfect build-yr-own computer. for total free. give yrself a better machine!!!

in 2014 tumblr changed the width of posts from 500px to 540px and people were so outraged about the change that tens of thousands vowed to keep using the old dimensions in protest. this sort of made sense at the time because the change made it so everyone's old gifsets and edits suddenly looked blurry when viewed on the dashboard, but what truly fascinates me is that to this day i still see some people stick with it. it's been a decade, hardly anyone is using that xkit feature that makes posts on your dashboard appear in 500px anymore, and yet there are still creators out there stubborn enough to let ten years of gifsets and edits look like shit to everyone else because they're mad tumblr made their older ones look bad. i respect the pettiness so much but also it just cannot be worth it

#on that note btw #cant recommend enough that people follow the tumblr dimensions it really does make posts look a lot better #gifs especially cause you generally look at those as a set #540px for one gif #268 x 268px for two #177 x 178 x 177px for three #yes the middle one being one pixel more IS horribly annoying ur right #none of this counts for drawings though like keep your art whatever size like people click on that and zoom in on details #but for gifs and graphics and all that. yea

GUYS, LOOK! My gf @copypastus printed my favorite ACOTAR fanfic for our anniversary! A Court of Lies and Resurrection by @ashintheairlikesnow! It's made to look like the original paperbacks in style and appearance, same font and everything. They didn't have the embossing or quite the same format at the printing place, but the cover text is shiny and other than that it's fitting in perfectly. It's freaking AMAZING (like the fanfic deserves, it's seriously so good you guys).
