Opposite Personality AU

Marinette and Adrian have opposite personalities except for their classmates.

This is a classic AU idea. It's one that I've seen a dozen times, and it never gets old. I could try my own take on it.

Adrien is a clumsy young man whose parents run a small tailoring business, but his passion is baking. He's kind, creative, and super shy around his crush, Marinette Dupain-Cheng.

On the other side, Marinette is the daughter of Sabine Cheng, the wealthy owner of a hugely successful catering company. Marinette is sweet, optimistic, and trusting.

Adrien's best friend is Alya, and Marinette's best friend is Nino.

Rather than Sabine being a villain, Lila is the wielder of the Butterfly, one with extremely dark intentions.

Chloe is childhood friends with Marinette and is severely protective of her since another guy broke Mari's heart a few years back. So immediately, she has a deep-rooted distrust of guys and initially hates Adrien's guts.

Chloe isn't as mean or nasty in this AU because Mari and Sabine have always shown her kindness and affection, making her mother's influence not nearly as bad.

Sabine and Marinette grieve the loss of Tom, who was in a fatal accident.

Chloe is dating Sabrina in this AU. Their relationship is nowhere near as toxic as it is in canon. In fact, they couldn't imagine their lives without each other.

Despite Chloe's distrust of guys, she reluctantly agrees to help Alya and Nino try and get Marinette and Adrien together.

I think the worst part about Miraculous' decline in quality is that I can't even enjoy it.

I want to love the bad writing so badly, but I can't do that when the bad writing in question is:

Marinette literally stalks Adrien and this is seen as a strange, albeit romantic quirk of hers.

The show's lore takes much "inspiration" from Chinese mythology and philosophy, but nobody on the writing team seems to have any knowledge or respect for Chinese people.

A cop is blatantly racist toward Marinette's mother and Marinette ends up apologizing to HIM. Thomas 100% backs this creative decision. (Not even acknowledging the fact that one of his main arguments against Chloe stans that he loves to use is that she made an ignorant remark about Chinese food.(Also that same episode, they based Marinette's uncle's akuma design off Dragon Ball Z despite him being Chinese rather than Japanese.))

[EXTREMELY MAJOR SPOILERS FOR SEASON 5 IMMEDIATELY UNDER THE CUT.]

After Gabriel's death, Marinette never tells Adrien that his father was Hawkmoth, and instead leaves him to believe that he was a good father. Adrien literally never gets justice or closure for all the abuse and neglect.

Like i mentioned a few times, Chloe's family has been training her to be the new Bee miraculous holder since Zoe and her were kids. Unlike Kagami who was basically raised by the Supreme, Chloe didn't really know about the Supreme or what exactly her parents were preparing her for. She just knew that her parents were involved in some shady organization, but not any details.

Zoe was the Supreme's original choice for the Bee Miraculous, but due to her running away from home, it was given to the second candidate. Chloe got what she wanted, but she has to deal with lots of angst about being the second choice and constantly getting compared to her sister who excelled at everything. Basically Tahani and Kamilah Al-Jamil, but with magic bee jewels.

As Hornet Queen / Sting (can't pick between those two names) she doesn't usually fight alongside Kagami, Luka and Felix. She usually does her own solo thing, but would occasionally be assigned to missions with the trio, or with Lila, much to their annoyance.
