He's looking around the shed, his brows furrowed as he tries to see if there is anything useful in the small building.

He sulks when he doesn't see anything, leaning against the pole with an annoyed expression. He huffs," ... Kay, nothin' useful in here so far.... Maybe I could summon my knives?"

His clock eye starts to glow, and he attempts to summon his knives.

Of course, that doesn't work either. His power fizzles out, leaving him empty handed. "Wha- that should've worked! Why didn't it..?"

As he's attempting to figure out what went wrong, he doesn't notice a shadow forming in the corner of the room. The shadow slunk closer, and with it an aura of darkness followed.

Chrono tensed as a voice right next to him spoke up," Ah, you're awake. Good."

His head shot up to the voice's direction, and a yelp of surprise leaving him. There from the shadows stood a being, them glitched and seemingly changing shape. They were flickering between different characters, sometimes looking more dogish, and sometimes mimicking a rainbow monster. They smirked," Did you enjoy your nap?" Their voice seemed like a mixture of voices.

He blinked, before realization filled him," you- You're the one who kidnapped me!"

They sighed," Yes I did. It was quite easy to do as well... You are terribly unobservant of your surroundings."

"Why you-" He growled, before another realization filled him. "wait, where's Light? I swear if you hurt them-"

They scoffed," You mean that useless anomaly that was hiding in your hood? Please, they weren't worth the effort. They're fine. Besides, what I mainly wanted was you..."

" me? What would you even need me for?", he looked confused.

They smirked," To put it simply, I've heard many things about you... How you go after my kin, all in the name of 'protecting the timelines'.. How you kill so many of us..." They kneeled in front of him," I have been waiting a very long time to meet you."

Chrono tensed,"Yer... Yer an anomaly?"

They clapped," Ding ding ding! You put things together! Wonderful! Really! Not much of a surprise from the Anomaly Slayer.."

"i-... Why did you- why have you been wanting to meet me? Why?", The multiverse traveler was stumped and his voice mirrored it.

" Well, there's plenty of reasons. Amongst several of us anomalies you're pretty well known.. it's like, meeting an infamous individual. I wanted to see if you really were all that... Although, now that I look at you, you're just a weak little creature without a world..."

"wah- hey, I'm not weak!", Chrono protested, him shooting a look at the other.

"oh yes, you are. Your emotions , they make you one of the weakest of the bunch! A weak link in the chain, able to break so easily-"

Chrono jolted forward, the ropes keeping him in place as he shouted," Shut Yer trap already!" He feels anger filling him and he demands," Enough of this! Why did ya kidnap me?! Why are you doin' this?!"

The being grinned sharply, him leaning forward until him and Chrono were eye to eye. He spoke," Isn't it obvious? I thought you were smart enough to figure it out, anomaly slayer....",They put a hand to their cheek, their brow raising ," Unless.. you don't know, do you? About what you really are? It's actually the reason you're in this predicament and why I am doing this in the first place..."

Chrono gives the other a look of pure disbelief," What in tarnation are you talkin' about? Of course I know what I am!"

The being chuckled, his expression bemused," Oh, I very much doubt that... Tell me, what makes an anomaly, hm?"

"wha-.. what makes them?" His brows furrow, caught off guard by the question," i-... They're..." Confusion filled his expression and he couldn't seem to figure out the answer.

The other continues , their voice a fake pitying one," It's ironic really. You hunt us down, killing so many of us, and you don't even know how we come into being?"

"i-", a look of alarm crossed Chrono's expression," Now hold on a minute-" the ex-mailman jumped as the anomaly's clawed hand grabbed his face, their hand covering his mouth.

They snarled, their red eyes glowing brightly," I wasn't finished, anomaly slayer." Their dark aura increased, and it caused a blast of fear to fill the clock man.

Chrono tensed, his mismatched eyes pinpricks. The anomaly then chuckled, enjoying the fear it was putting in him," As I was saying, it's real ironic... You see, I've learned plenty about you... I know more about you then you do yourself even!" Their claws dug into his face, him wincing as pricks of pain came from it," Someone aught to teach you where we anomalies come from! So, that's exactly what I'm going to do... "

They waved their free hand," You see, anomalies are glitches. Made from codes of fallen worlds, or destroyed ones. Depending on the world, we are all very different. And depending on how much of a certain code we have, our looks and memories and personality changes... Do you see where I'm going with this?"

Chrono's eyes are narrowed at the anomaly in front of him, although he is also a bit conflicted and confused. That seemed answer enough to the anomaly," Hm. I see you don't... Well, let me make it clear in your thick skull."

The anomaly slammed Chrono's head into the pole, the multiverse traveler letting out a pained muffled yell. The anomaly grinned cruelly," Your world was destroyed, was it not? By an anomaly? Don't you ever wonder how you survived?"

The impact made a loud crack sound echo in Chrono's head , and pulsing pain soon followed after. His eyes were shut tightly, and ringing was in his ears. The pain was unbearable. Tears formed in his eyes, almost falling but Chrono managed to hold them back.

The anomaly had let go of Chrono, and the goggled man's head fell forward as he let out a pained noise. Chrono was shaking, and his head felt like it was going to explode from the pain.

As the anomaly waited for the clock man to recover, they continued," not just anyone survives a world getting destroyed by an anomaly... Your body would go along with the world you inhabited and fade out of existence... Just like your husband did."

Chrono's head shot up and he snarled," you little-" he's struggling against the ropes trying to break free. The pain was still there, but his anger was managed to somewhat overcome it enough.

The being just raises a brow, his voice condescending," Oh, was that a sore spot for you? You poor thing..." Then they scoffed," ugh, your emotions for him sickens me..."

Chrono is growling, and he snaps," Just get to yer point already! What in the hay are you tryin' ta get at?!" He's ignoring the sharp pangs of pain that are currently shooting through his head.

The being hums," My my, you're an impatient man.. ah, i suppose i could throw you a bone.. You see, as i said your body couldn't have survived... And so you are technically not alive. At least , not in the way you were... Don't you ever wonder why you have powers now when you didn't before? Why you are different?"

Chrono's glare increased, and he's pulling in his binds. He shouts," I- I dunno!" Then some of that anger faded into more of a perplexed one,"... I.. never really... Thought about it I guess.."

The being laughed," Well... I think you should." Then they smirked," And I know exactly why you are so different...."

They leaned closer , their face now close to his. He leaned back with a quite confused expression , them grinning as they spoke," You and I aren't so different, Anomaly Slayer... Both of us beings created from codes, formed together from a world that was destroyed. The only difference is that all your codes came from a singular character in that world, and so was your memories..."

Bewilderment formed on his face before realization filled him again. A a horrified shocked expression formed on Chrono's face," wait, you can't possibly be meanin'-"

" I am, Eddie Dear.", The anomaly looked like it was enjoying this way too much, a giddiness to their voice as they interrupted him," You are an ANOMALY, An imperfect copy of the actual Eddie Dear from that world....."

A horror of sorts filled Chrono, a chill shooting down his spine as the anomaly finished," You are JUST. LIKE. US... And by the end of this I'll make sure you know it..."

If it’s not too much to ask, can we get a part 2 for the Chisaki meeting eri again? But this time it’s her and the other heroes trying to “save” Angel and the children but realized how much he changed after meeting Angel and his family. I bet they would be shook that this man is capable of love, I just want to read their thoughts reactions, especially Eri.

"Papa let me brush your hair!" Kin asked cutely at her father whose was reading a book. He arched one eyebrow at her request before hissing at his older son picking his pierced ear.

"Kaito you brat let go!" He growled as the boy laughed but pointed to the board of shogi on the middle of them.

"You promised to play with me!"

"Now, now.." you came with a tray of snacks and put on the coffe table, catching your kids attention as Kai let out a sigh of relief "Dont be too pushy on your dad kiddos, is not always he has a whole week of a break so he needs to rest as well."

"Thanks my angel." He sighed while letting his head rest on the back of the sofa before he almost shouted in pain when both Kin and Kaito tackled him on a hug on the ground somehow... Kin was poking her daddy's head as Kaito laughed on his back while the man only managed to mutter a dramatic 'help' to you.

You giggled at the scene before Kurono entered the room and chuckled at the scene as well.

"Not wanting to disturb the family moment here, but Chisaki." He called at the man on the floor "There are some heroes outside the gate and told they wanted to speak to you."

"Boooo!" Kaito pouted, still sitting on his dad's back as he made a thumb down as Kin hugged her daddy's neck with a whine.

"No! Papa is ours now! Heroes go away!" The dark brow haired girl whined before giggling when her father pushed himself up with a sigh and stood there hanging on his back as Kaito yelped but immediately launched on his right leg.

"It has to be now?" The male asked Chrono as he only answered with a nod. He sighed and manage to pry his kids off of him as you giggled at his almost desperation "Those two become leeches or what?!"

"They only want their daddy." You giggled with crossed arms before gladly picking up Kin as you accepted Kaito's hug. You gladly agreed to watch over haru as well since Hari asked you while he accompanied Kai.

He rolled his eyes at you before following Chrono out of the house.

"Have any idea whose sick are out there?" He sighed with hands on his pockets as Kurono shrugged while scracthing his neck.

"No.. Tabe was the one to answer it first then soon went after me." He commented as Kai gave a signal to open only to be greeted by the heros Eraserhead, Lemillon and Deku... and one person in spefic left not only him but Hari as well frozen in place as they saw her ruby eyes staring aprehensively yet determined at them.

Eri... out of all people... He had given her orders to NOT coming back after he let her go to raise a family correctly... yet, there she was.

"We can talk a bit right? You dont see occupied." Aizawa commented blantly already making his way inside the yard as the others quickly followed him.

"What is the meaning of-" he tried to speak but Lemillion beat him to it.

"Dont worry mister! Is just a quick investigation." He patted Eri's head as she gulped, looking at everywhere but in Hafi and Kai's eyes.

"Investigation for..?"

"Abuse." Deku answered which let Chisaki and Kurono almost panicking "We received an... anonymous warning about you Mr. Chisaki."

"Anonymous..." he muttered while sending a death glare towards the girl who manage to hide her gasp.

The heroes forced their way into their house as Chisaki only crossed his arms and refused to speak first. The pros only staring at each other before Deku made the first move.

"S-so! You have any children?" Kai only narrowed his eyes at the young boy but nodded his head slowly.

"How you usually treat them?" Aizawa arched an eyebrow and Chisaki felt his hives going crazy on his skin as he started to scratch his forearm.

"Are you insuaniting something? Hero?" He said nonchantly the words but Eraser didn't even flinched as Eri gulped and took the courage.

"Where a-are they?"

"Not even one of you will see my kids." He growled as Kurono closed the door... but not enough to prevent a pair of golden and (e/c)'s eyes to see what was happening.

"Why not?" Lemillion asked in concern.

"Do you hurt them? That's why you're hidding them?" Eri asked, tears almost dripping from her eyes as she stared at the two "Do any of you not remember at hurting anyone?!"

"Eri-chan." Deku put his hand on her shoulder as she controlled herself.

"We also wanted to speak to your wife at least." Kai widened his eyes at that "Hinst of abuse acn be spotted pretty clearly when we talked to-"

"I. Dont. Hurt. Them." He gritted his teeth together "I wouldn't dare to lay a finger on-"

"Only her?" Lemilliom asked with furrowed eyebrows.

Kai was about to combust before all heads were turned to the door opening as Kaito and Kin entered.

"Papa?" Kin asked in concern while patting his knee.

"What are you doing with my dad and uncle? Back off!" Kaito exclaimed while standing in front of his father.

"Kaito." The man sighed while letting his gloved hand on the boy's head "take your sister and get out. Everything is alri-"

"No it's not!" The boy shouted, surprising everyone in the room "Those heroes always think us are the bad guys but you're not dad!" The boy cried as Kai widened his eyes in shock. As he felt a damp on the place where hsi daughter was holding onto.

"Hey hey that's okay you two." Lemillion cooed at the two kids as Eri blinked in shock as well at how much these kids seemed to love him... him.

"Dont take my papa..." the little girl cried making Chisaki a bit lost as he furrowed hsi eyebrows together and sighed. Regaining his compusture and looking at the heroes with much more calmness than before.

"Give us a minute?" They all nodded and went to outside, only for Eri to lift her eyebrow up and return only for peeking at the scene of the two children weeping as Kai, kneeled on one knee, trying on his own way to comfort his children.

"What..?" Eri muttered in shock before seing a woman entering along with a white haired shaped arrow girl... The woman went to the dark brow haired kids and man while the little girl launched herself on Chrono.

The way Chisaki stared at the kids and wife was so much different than what she once knew of... It was still serious as ever but it held a bit of... emotion on it. It held love...

It was so strange seing him that way. Like the man over there wasn't the one who threatened and almost succeed on making her own blood into bullets.

She narrowed her eyes a bit to see better and saw the little amber eyed girl and the (e/c) eyed boy pouting at Kai talking with them before hugging the man tightly with tears on their eyes... Chisaki stood there with his hands up in the air awkwardly before slowly lowering them down to hug them close as well.

She gasped in shock at scene. Knowing that once this man hated to be touched...

Looking at the scene and back at the heroes she took the courage to enter again as soon as the woman and children left.

"... you changed." Was the only thing she could muster, noticing the way Chisaki and Kurono tensed at her voice before they turned to look at her.

It still remained silence before Eri clenched her hands and dared to continue asking.

"Why? Why did you let me go?"

Kai refused to look at her before sighing.

"I dont feel like you need to hear it.... but it's just.. wasn't right. I couldn't keep doing that with my son coming."

"... you changed." She smiled with a soft look "You arent the monster I remembered of." Eri spoke softly as Kai only glared back at her.

"And I remember giving you orders to go and not coming back." He growled the words as Eri only stared back.

"I had to make sure those kids were safe. After all, I have my reasons." She arched her eyebrow at him as the both man only stared back.

"You will continue this?" Kurono asked in a growl as Eri shocked her head.

"No. As long as those kids are safe my duty as a student of U.A is done."

Kai almost wanted to puke at that but still remained silent. Eri soon convinced all the heros on his yard to go back since it was nothing... he didn't know how, but they left as soon as Eri talked to them.

Kai stared at the gate as Kurono let out a heavy sigh.

"And here I thought it was about to be a damn headache eh?" He elbowed Chisaki who seemed lost in thought "... You're okay Kai?"

"... Go spend the rest of the week with your daughter blockhead." He spoke in a sigh, walking away and leaving a very confused yet happy Kurono behind.

He opened the door to see his wife sitted on a bench as his kids played on the back yard, soon gasping at seing him closing the door and walking towards them.

"Daddy!" Ths both spoke in union before hugging his legs as you came to him.

"So?" You asked in concern as Kai pulled his mask down to show a smile me before he kissed your lips, mindful of Kaito's complains and Kin's cheers.

"Nothing. It was a mistake, just that."

"Gross." Kaito kicked slightly his father's leg as he only stared down.

"... so. You two wanted me to play?" Kai asked in the most boredoom tone as his kids let out confused noises before he suddenly grabbed your waist and tossed over his shoulder. You gasping at his actions as he stared at his kids nonchantly but with a smirk present.

"Better run or else both of you will get in trouble just like your mother that wasn't fast enough." The kids gasped and run off as you laughed at him putting you down again on the bench.

"Who are you and what did you do to my husband?" You giggled as he softened his gaze before staring at his kids running.

"Let's just say I have to enjoy and apreciate the moments I have with the people I learned what the word "love" meant." He spoke before walking towards his kids to agree to play whatever they wanted as you stared just a bit before joining along.

Okay okay so I play a lot of bored games with my close friends and my favorite one has been one called "this game hasn't been play tested" and honestly i could not even try and describe it for you but it was hilarious.

Asher - Favorite video game?

Chrono Cross! It's a super old ps1 game and it was one of the games that defined my childhood. And I still play it to this day. I am also hella hyped for the remaster coming out!

Vincent - Favorite amusement park ride?

The Tea Cups 👀 because fun fact: my highest tier kin is the person Vincent talked to before getting on the coster because I am a coward when it comes to rides.

Bonded Chapter 30: Coming Together

The newest chapter to my Reylo fanfic (rated T). If you want to check out the previous chapters, here’s the link to AO3!

The crolute sits at the bar, swaying to the music and slapping a fat hand against his thigh. He barely fits in the chair, folds of flesh pouring over the sides of the seat, contained only by threadbare pants.

Every so often, he glances at Rey sitting beside him, a long, lingering glance.

But she just keeps her eyes forward, fixed on the disordered rows of bottles lining the back of bar. He’s tried to talk to her a couple of times, but she just pretends not to understand him.

So now he’s staring.

Rey grips her half empty drink, cursing whatever cruel twist of fate has made her a magnet for the leering eyes of crolutes.

And she thought those days were behind her…

She shifts away from him, turning to observe the rest of the scene.

The cantina is vibrant, like a living thing unto itself. The air is filled with the swinging beat of the band, three massive Kitonaks huddled together on a small platform, clumsily swaying from side to side, bumping bellies as they play their instruments.

It seems like everyone’s in motion, swept up by the beat of the music.

There’s a towering Yarkora standing in front of the platform, arms in the air, waving wildly, his tail swishing as he yells nonsensical words of praise for the band. A group of hooded Dressellians sit close by, each of them bobbing and tapping their feet, almost in exact unison. Even a service droid rocks its snout-shaped head as it rolls by with a trey full of drinks.

Rey smiles to herself as she turns to face the bar.

She should enjoy this while she can. It’s not often that she gets to hear live music, and these fellows aren’t half bad. The atmosphere is warm, full of laughter and chit chat. There hasn’t been a single fight since she arrived, something of a miracle given the roughneck crowd.

Yes, she should just sit back and soak it all in— the music, the gaiety, the peace.

But even as she thinks this, she’s reaching into her pouch, pulling out a chrono to check the time. She casts a downward glance, then slips the device back into her pouch.

Daja’s late.

But not terribly late. It could be a good thing, really… After all, Rey’s meeting was quite short and look how that turned out.

Not that she blames Yana for her decision. The woman has a business to run, thousands in her employ, people with mouths to feed. If she were to volunteer her warehouses to hide runaway slaves, she could become a target, especially given the kinds of slaves she’d be hiding.

Rey’s going after the big fish now, slavers who operate across multiple systems, the kind who will chase down missing property for no other reason than to make an example of them. They’ve got vast resources— veritable armies at their beck and call, spies feeding them all manner of intel, and a network of businesses under their thumb.

But Rey’s building her own network.

She and Daja are one of a dozen pairs going from system to system, seeking out powerful locals who might be willing to volunteer a haven for runaway slaves. The goal is to create a secret path of safe houses to usher new escapees to permanent freedom, a place for them to lay low while the slavers are hot in pursuit.  

The only problem is that so many are utterly terrified of what might happen if they get caught. These big-name crime lords could make life hell for them if they wanted to— cut off their access to trade routes, squeeze their businesses dry, even destroy their homes. It’s quite a risk, what Rey’s asking. She can hardly begrudge those who turn her down.

But Daja should have more luck.

If the Daughters of Q’anah are half of what people say they are, then they fear no one. They’re pirates, after all. They already steal property from the galaxy’s most vicious crime lords. Surely, they’d be open to smuggling a different kind of property, the kind that lives and breathes, that shouldn’t be considered property at all.

Surely…

Rey drums her fingers on the bar, trying to quell a nervous feeling in her gut.

The Daughters aren’t exactly saints, though. They don’t hesitate to kill, and if rumors are to be believed, they relish the opportunity to show they can be just as vicious as the people they steal from.

It’s enough to make Rey worry.

Just a little.

But Daja can handle herself. She’s the perfect one for the job, really. She’s got the swagger of a pirate, a smart mouth and a rebel spirit. She’s fearless. She’s capable. In a different life, she could be a Daughter of Q’anah.

Yes, there’s no reason to worry. No reason at all…

Rey continues drumming her fingers but soon stops, flattening her hand on the surface. She sits up, squaring her shoulders and taking another look around. She accidentally catches the eye of the crolute and he flashes a gap-toothed grin.

She immediately looks away.

She resists the urge to check the time again, trying to relax instead, enjoy the atmosphere. She takes a deep breath and without quite realizing it, closes her eyes, melting into the environment.

The cantina is abuzz with conversation, dozens of exchanges blending together into a low roar. If she concentrates, she can pick out individuals from the mass…

There’s a couple speaking in Bocce, gossiping about a local merchant named Shah Kin. Apparently, he’s been fooling around with his competitor’s wife…

A man is arguing with a service droid about his tab, claiming it overcharged him for the last three orders.

There’s a group speaking in what Rey can only describe as honks and clicks. It’s not a language she understands. She’s not even sure how many are talking… three maybe? No four.

A couple next to them discuss a First Order sighting, a dreadnaught near Asmaru. They wonder what it could mean. The leading theory is that Kylo Ren is looking to run a new a trade route through the system…

Rey’s eyes snap open.

She shakes her head briskly, struggling to regain her focus. She takes a deep inhale and reaches into her pouch, pulling out the chrono. She glances down, then shoves it back in.

Five more minutes.

She’ll wait for five more minutes, and if Daja doesn’t show up, then she’ll go after her.

Rey rests forearms on the bar, shoulders hunched, rubbing her hands together anxiously.

It’s stupid.

There’s no reason to worry. She’s only late because she was successful.

Probably.

Lots of questions to answer, concerns to address—

Suddenly, Rey snaps up. She leaps to her feet and turns to face the cantina, eagerly searching the crowd.

Daja’s pushing her way past a couple of horned Davorians. As she gets closer, Rey senses her emotions, a kind of adrenaline-charged frenzy mixed with anger.

Rey’s shoulders drop.

Things did not go well.

Daja charges straight up to Rey, flushed and out of breath.

“I don’t know,” Daja halts just in front of her, “what I did to piss those bitches off but—” She takes a giant gulp of air. “Whatever it was, they nearly killed me for it.” She exhales, widening her eyes.

Rey opens her mouth to speak but suddenly stops, turning her head.  

There’s a young man standing next to Daja. She’d seen him trailing behind her when she came in but just assumed he was another patron.

“Who’s this?” Rey points to their unidentified guest.

“No one.” Daja practically yells this, shoving him away. “Just some jackass.”

The young man staggers back.

“Some way to refer to the guy who just saved your life.” He knits his eyebrows.

“You did not save my life.” Daja whips around, pointing a finger in his face. “I had things under control. I didn’t need your help.”

“Uh… yeah, you did.” He crosses his arms. “And I didn’t have to. Just like I didn’t have to see you back safely to your friend.” He nods to Rey. “But I did it anyway. Even though you’ve called me a jackass three times now.” He lifts three fingers as he mouths the number for emphasis.

Daja glares at him.

“Fine,” she deadpans. “You saved my life. I’m eternally grateful. Now, go away, jackass.” She turns back to Rey, twitching.

“You Resistance people are rude, you know that?” He grumbles.

“And you First Order people are slimy,” Daja retorts.

Rey jerks back.

“You’re with the First Order?” She demands, examining him.

He doesn’t look like a member of the First Order at all— no uniform, no insignia, no indication of rank or position. And he’s so young, barely a man…  

“Yep.” He perks up, beaming with pride. For the first time, he directs his full attention to Rey. His gaze drifts down then back up, a glint of appreciation in his eyes.

“I gotta say…” His lips turn up slyly. “You’re pretty cute for a Resistance fighter.” He winks at her.

Daja immediately scoffs.

“Ok, time for you to—”

“What’s your name?” Rey studies the young man closely.

“Sylas Bonden.” He offers his hand with a smile.

Rey eyes him warily for a moment. Then she lifts a hand, meeting his with a gentle grip.

“Thanks for taking care of my friend, Sylas.” She nods at him.

“You’re welcome.” Sylas leans towards Rey, but shoots Daja a pointed look.

Daja growls under her breath.

“And what do you do for the First Order?” Rey tilts her head.

“I…” He gestures to himself with a little flair. “Am in charge of a very…” His eyes drift upward. “Special subset of negotiations.”

“Special?” She raises eyebrow.

“Yeah…” He draws out the word. “Not your standard resource exchanges, ones that require a little… finesse.” He wiggles his eyebrows. Then he steps to the side, sliding onto the seat once inhabited by the crolute. “Let me buy you a drink.” He pats the bar. “I’ll tell you all about it. Or what I’m allowed to tell, anyways.” He winks again.

Daja laughs, incredulous.

“Kid, you’ve got some nerve. You think—”  

“Sure.” Rey shrugs.  

Daja’s jaw drops.

Maybe you could write something about Mick accidentally burning Ray and not being happy about it at all, which then confuses him?

((YES WHY NOT START WITH RAY BEING HURTTHAT’S FINE O_O ) 

Read on AO3 TemptationsMick doesn’t want to. It’s not even like it was before, with Mick being way toofascinated with the flame, not being able to pull his eyes away from it, andjust quietly watching it burn. This moment is completely different. Mick’s focused – or as focused as he canbe with these things crawling all around. They need to get out fastand right now. There is not possible way the four of them can take on the whole pack ofMorlocks.

“Back to the jump ship!” Mick yells whenhe sees Amaya press her hand against her necklace – the bluish shape of agorilla appearing over her and Mick frowns, before he presses the side of hisgun against her chest.

She blinks and turns her head to glanceat Mick a little, obviously listening.

“Unless you have an animal that canshoot light out of its ass, we need to get back.” He growls. Amaya nods – shedoesn’t ask, doesn’t question his decision, just accepts it, plain and simplebefore one of her hands curls around Jax’s arm, the other around Haircut’s andshe’s dragging them off.

The Morlocks are closing in on them,crawling on all four and showing their teeth while the slow rumble starts intheir chests at the same time.  Mick’s eyes widen and –

“But maybe we can talk to them?”

There’s a loud screech, the Morlocksjump as one. Mick doesn’t even have time to swear as he raises his gun, theheat scorching the closest Morlock.

“Go!” He yells over the blazing fire ashe backs off slowly. There is no point to fight, they won’t be able to standtheir ground against this many of them, especially since Jax and Haircut are‘merge-less and suit-less.

The three start running back to theship, something Mick’s thankful for. He sets another small group of Morlock’son fire, if they manage to get it like this then perhaps they can make it. Theship isn’t too far away.

“Ray!” Jax yells. Mick turns around just in time tosee Haircut on the ground, one Morlock clutching his leg in a sticky grasp, while another two are already climbing overhim. Haircut’s fighting, but the red eyes are focused on him already, alreadymarking him as pray as more and more come.

“Fuck.” Mick actually swears this time,before he turns the heatgun to the group and fires. The Morlocks howl and Mickcan smell burnt flesh. Screams and yells fill the air, andMick does his best not to try to pick on his voice. Mick’s heart’s beating loudly inhis chest as he comes closer, flashing the gun in the direction of anothergroup trying to ambush them.

“Get him out of there.”  Hegrowls. He has just enough of these things. Amaya moves before Jax does,pushing the burnt bodies away.

Soon Mick hears the quiet, pained moanas well as the loud gasp that follows.  

“He- he is-“

“This isn’t the time, Jax!” Amaya yells,before Mick can hear the two of them running towards the ship and he himselfretreats as well. The door shut close and Mick does his best not to glance atthe wheezing figure on the ground as he makes his way to the controls, readingthem for the jump.

Mick knows what his gun can do on whatsetting. He knows how badly something is just by the smell of it.

He doesn’t need to see to know just how badly Raymond’s burnt.  

The flight back to Waverider feels likeforever. Every grunt coming from Ray settles down in Mick’s stomach heavily andhis fingers are almost painfully curled around the controls by the time thedoor open.

He gets up, picks up Haircut’s burnt body (the smellso, so wrong) and doesn’t look back as he carries the man right intothe med bay. Gideon can heal him. He knows she can, because there’s little thatGideon can’t do. She could make a new bone, whole new hand. These burns shouldbe easier. These wounds should be nothing compared to that.

Fear’s still gripping at Mick’s chestthough, still makes his throat dry and burning. It doesn’t even get better whenRay is hooked onto the machine, Gideon closing the cooling pod around him. Itdoesn’t get better when the wheezing stops and the pained expression leaveswhat’s visible from Ray’s face, leaving just calm behind.

It doesn’t. Get. Better.

“Dr. Palmer is going to be alright infew hours.” Gideon chimes from above him, clearly better at reading human emotionsthan Mick gave her credit for. Chrono’s ship wasn’t that smart. Or maybe hejust didn’t have enough showing on his face back then.

“What happened out there?” Sara asks.Mick didn’t even notice her – or the rest of the team – follow him. He shouldn’tbe surprised though. Haircut looks terrifying.

“I’ll tell you what happened.” Jax huffs before Mickcan open his mouth, his arms crossed over his chest and glaring. “Some thingsjumped at us, and the hothead here didn’t think of anything better than wavinghis gun around. And now Ray’s like this!”Mick knows the man’s worried. But it’s still pissing him off.

“Those were the Morlocks.”

Nate blinks, looking between the threeof them.

“The… H. G. Wells Morlocks?” He frowns, clearlyconfused and Mick glares. He knows the name – knows it’s supposed to be somehot shot writer. Haircut mentioned that several times after the Wild Westthing, but Mick didn’t care. He’s not the type to read books. Heywood knows that, and yet he still has to ask likean idiot.

Haircut wouldn’t.

“Does he have Morlocks that are skilledhunters, eating anything in their paths – human, aliens, time that’s so damagedthat it’s shredding at the edges of the universe and making way for much worsebeasts?”

“That bit about time sounds likeLangolier, which is Stephen Kin-“ Mick’s eyes narrow and the guy winces.“iing’s, but that’s not really a point here is it.” Heywood shakes his head,wincing.

“But burning Ray wasn’t necessary! Wecould’ve dragged them off him! We had Amaya and her gorilla self!” Jax huffsand Mick has enough.

“Those react to two things. Light andfire. You have none of those you’re lucky if you all you lose is non-vitalorgans. Haircut’s lucky!” He yells. The whole ship falls silent. At least theyare listening now.  

But Jax’s partly right. Haircut wouldn’t need to gethurt if they were better prepared. Mick doesn’t get it. The Morlocks’ leave avery specific trail when they enter a time stream. A certain vibration in time, almost like a speedster wouldif he ran through the speed barrier. Gideon would’ve picked on it and – heblinks, before he looks up at Stein. Stein, who was standing quietly off to theside until now. Stein who jumps the moment Mick looks at him.

He’s on the other side of the room in asecond, hands curled into Stein’s stupid jacket and pushing the man against thewall.

“You knew.” He hissed, glaring into Stein’s wide eyes.Jax’s on his side, his hand clutching at Mick’s arm, and he can feel Sara onhis other side, but he doesn’t care. “You knew there was something wrong. Sara said you were the onewho came up with the time abomination, not the Pretty Boy.” he’s growing, histeeth showing with every word. The rage Mick feels is so strong, so blinding…he didn’t feel it for a life time.

“I – I, I didn’t know.” Stein stammersout, then winces when Mick slams him into the wall again. “I knew there wassomething weird, but I thought it was Eobard!”

Sara turns next to him to glance atStein.

“And then it would be okay to send just four of them?! Jaxwithout you and Ray without his suit? You didn’t say a word when you thought they areleaving like that!”

“Jefferson and I aren’t always on thesame missions!” Stein quickly says and Sara glares. “And! I thought someoneshould be here guarding the ship. What if there’s something more that thelunatic wants?”

Mick wants to punch him. But Sarasqueezes his arm in warning, before shaking her head.

“Mick, let him go. Martin is an idiot,but there’s no point in beating him to a bloody pulp.”

“It would be satisfying.” Mick hisses,leaning closer to flinching Stein, before pushing away.

“You should’ve said something, man.” Jax sighs next to him.Stein shrugs.

“What would it help? We wouldn’t know itwas those… those… things.”

“Mr. Rory would’ve figured it out.”Gideon chimes from about them, voice as cheerful as ever. “He as Chronos – themost successful Hunter of the Time Masters for decades. He has more knowledgeabout the creatures in travelling the time stream than any other living person.Actually he faced off the Morlocks before. Rather successfully, I might add.”

Mick can feel the looks of the teamturning his way, but he couldn’t care less. He’s focused on the body in thepod, the chest slowly rising and falling. Amaya steps to him this time, herhand curling on Mick’s arm – not like the other two. Not restraining andsuffocating, but supportive, warm and gentle.

“Ray’s strong. He’s going to bealright.” Her voice carries the same warmth and Mick wants to scoff at her.Amaya might be with them on the ship for some time, but she still doesn’tunderstand how Gideon, how the future works.

Of course Haircut’s going to be alright. Thanks toHunter’s paranoia Gideon could restore Raymond from almost a scratch, as longas they got him in here alive. His throat feels dry though, his lungs feel likethey are full of smoke (like that time), and he doesn’t explain. He doesn’tknow why he can’t explain, doesn’tknow why there’s this stupid unreasonable fear clutching at his chest.  

He swallows, his own hand curls atopAmaya’s and he nods.

It’s been days. The first night, Mickdrinks. The rest of the team avoid him, all but Amaya who brings more vodkafrom god knows where so Mick allows her to stay.

The next day Sara joins them, and thethree drink themselves under the table.

The day after that, Mick’s too busycleaning his heatgun and not flinching every time he remembers.

The one after that, Mick blameseverything again. Including himself.

The next one. Haircut opens his eyes.

Most of the team is out on the supplyrun. Sara taking more people than needed, just as a precaution. Mick knows Jax’ssomewhere on the ship, doesn’t care where though, probably tinkering aroundwith the time drive possibly, so it’s why Gideon calls out to Mick.

“Dr. Palmer should be waking up soon.” Her voicesounded in Mick’s room, “He shouldn’t be in shock anymore, but it would stillbe better if he woke up with someone familiar around.”

Mick doesn’t want to go. But before Gideon evenfinishes, he finds himself hurrying down the hall and he stands into the medbaydoor just as the pod opens. The small amount of fog cleans quickly and Mick’sleft staring at Raymond’s face.

There are no marks. There are no marks nowhere on hisbody as far as Mick can see, and he’s unbelievably thankful. Haircut’s body isn’tmade for scars. There still are some,marking the skin here and there, but they are nothing like the disfigured, ugly scars that Mick has.

Mick makes his way to the pod before the small moanleaves Haircut’s lips and his eyes flutter open slowly.

He blinks, once, twice, before his eyes stay open. He’slooking around the room slowly, before his eyes rest on Mick.

Mick’s not sure what he expects, but it’s not therelieved smile that he gets.

“Thank god. I thought I was dead.” Mick almostflinches at the words. So Haircut thought he was going to die burning to crispsand – “Thought they were going to eat me alive, those things.”

“Morlocks.” Mick says, still waiting for the anger,fear… something.

“Not the H. G. Wells version, then.” Ray says shakinghis head. His voice is light and easy if a bit raspy. It’s not angry at all,and that’s so, so wrong. Haircutprobably doesn’t even know he’s supposed to blame Mick.

“Good morning, Dr. Palmer.” Gideon calls, “do you byany chance remember what day it is?” She asks, and Ray frowns, confused.

“… ugh… Time’s relative on Waverider?” He asks,clearly having no idea. But neither of them did, not on this godforsaken ship. “Isthat a joke?”

“Possibly a mistake in my programming.” Gideon’s voiceis teasing now, Mick can almost imagine her laughing. “It’s good to have youback, Dr. Palmer.”

“Thank you, Gideon.” Ray says, a smile stretching thelips that were unmoving for what feels like ages. “And Mick.”

“What?”

“Thanks for saving me.”

What? It’s true that Mick saved the guy, but he had noway of knowing it. For all he knew, Mick just found the easiest way even thoughthey could pull him out of there. He should be thinking the same as the rest ofthe team did, so why should he say that?!

“I burnt you.” He growled and Ray nodded.

“Yes. But to save my life. Which you did.”

Mick frowns, his fingers curling into fists by hissides. Haircut doesn’t understand, he doesn’t. But the moment he will he-

“You wouldn’t do it unless there was any other choice.I believe that. And I trust you.”

There’s that stupid smile on his face again, thehopeful and content one, the one he had on his face the whole time he wastrying to hunt Mick down, to become his partner.The whole time he was trying to explain that Snart left some kind of last willfor them, asking them to work together, to be there for each other.

Mick shakes his head, curses, before he glances overat Raymond. He’s still lying in the pod, his body too tired to move, probablyand Mick sets his jaw before walking over.

Perhaps he finally has his answer to all the why’s. Tothe fear, to that heavy feeling settling down in his stomach he felt when hesaw Ray unconscious and hurt.

Mick’s sitting at the side of the pod, his handpressed against the pillow next to Ray’s head. Ray blinks, confused and heopens his mouth to ask, but before he can do that, Mick’s already leaning down,pressing his lips against Haircut’s.

Mick shouldn’t do this, he doesn’t deserve this, heknows, but Haircuts words are still ringing in his ears, as well as the memoryof the fear that Mick felt after seeing Haircut in this stupid pot is stillvery present in Mick’s chest, tightening it.

He kisses Haircut over again and again, slowly, gentlyas if afraid, he’s going to break, or fall back to the damaged state he was inbefore.

When Mick finally pulls back, Ray’s staring at him,his mouth hanging open in shock and his eyes wide, flying over Mick’s facetrying to make sense of it all. Nothing good came out of Haircut overthinkingthings though, so for both of their sakes Mick leans down again, kissing theman once more, slipping his tongue in between Ray’s lips, devouring his mouth.

Mick was never good with temptations. Be it fire,stealing… or now Haircut. But even though Haircut burns more than any fire inMick’s life, is more thrilling than any heist, he’s also the least destructiveone, the safest one of Mick’s temptations.

He doesn’t mind giving into this one.

“You two want to do what again?” he sighed, one of his hands supporting his head with his elbow on his desk as his free one pinched his covered nose.

“A pj party!” Kin giggled as her older brother nodded at her, confirming to his father he also wanted the same thing.

“Why? You both know none your colleagues like to even step closer to the Hassaikai, is useless.” He gave an nonchantly look at Kaito when he facepalmed, mocking him surely the little brat, as Kin huffed and put her hands on her waist with a frown, reminding him very much of you.

“Dad..” Kaito groaned before pointing at the door with both arms “Is for mom’s birthday! She loves those things!” The boy exclaimed as he deadpanned.

“Don’t tell us you forgot!” Kin spoke with a cold tone of voice while glaring at him with a pout, matching gold orbs staring back at his own.

“I haven't.” he sighed, getting up from his chair and leavuing his office, his son and daughter following him like baby ducks, causing to a nearby precept to chuckle at the scene before yelping when he saw the death glare Chisaki gave to him over his shoulders. 

“Then you letting us do it then?” The nine year’s old boy asked, face same as his father but on his (E/c) coul be noticed a tinge of hope and happiness.

“Your mother is how many years older than you both again? The answer is no.” He said in sarcasm as he walked before sighing when his three year’s old daughter got on his front and sucefully stoped him on walking “What?”

“Papa pleasee??” she got her tiny and chubby hands interlocked together while doing the puppy eyes up at him “You can help us and say is a gift you also gave!”

“Absolutely not-” He growled and rolled his eyes up when she started to sniffle, then to help even more he felt a tug on his jacket, and when looking down he saw Kaito with a pout and the same look Kin carried.

Those brats knew it how to get to him, dammit it was the same look his wife gave it to him all the time and fucking succeded it. He had to remember to have a long, LONG chat with you later for this attitude of the kids.

“Do whatever you two want without messes. And your mother better like it.” he watched his son and daughter’s face lighten up and shout their thanks at him while running to whatever they were planning “NO running inside the house you brats!”

Just listening to his son and daughter’s gigglesgave a simple smile to the usual cold man as he shook his head and started to walk again only to be met with his wife, entering the house along with Chrono after she went out.

“Kai!” he watched you put the bags carefully on the ground to walk towards him witha bright smile, also noticing the quick greeting Hari gave to him before his daughter jumped and lauched on his leg with giggles.

“I see you wiped off the money I had on my credit card.” he said nonchantly as you giggled, letting him, one more time on that day, smile and touch your cheek with his gloved hand to carres it.

“Says the man whose not even once stop buying things. Hell Kai, not even me or the kids can’t look at something and yoy’re already grabbing and paying for it.”

“Is for a different reason, and with those brats I agree I have to come to a stop before they become spoiled pests.”

He was walking on the halls, finishing reading some of his paperwork until he heard some giggles, catching a bit of a blanket little thief run and enter one room of the house.

Cringing at the thought of that blanket slidding and catching all the dirt on the floor, he sighed before going after and opening the door.

"You brats better not make a mess of this-" he stopped abruptly when he saw the state the room was in... full of pillows, lanterns, blankets forts which btw he learned what it was from you.

It even had the freacking coffe table from the living room full of snacks.

"So one of you stole the table huh little rats?" He asked nonchantly as Kin poked her head out of the blankets and kaito looked at him over his shoulder.

"Hah?" The boy said monotonously before accidentaly using his quirk on a pillow. Causing to explode and the room be filled with feathers.

"That makes a great decoration Kaito-kun!" He arched one of his eyebrows at seing Chrono's daughter inside one of the first, putting on some Christmas golden lights inside of it.

"Haru." He nodded towards teh girl whose shyly gretted back and returned to her going "Ordered someone to help make your work? Kaito?"

"No way!" The boy exclaimed before getting up "Me and Kin invited her as well!"

"Yeah! Kaito has a bitty wittyy crushy on Haru-chan!" Kin singed while twirling the blanket on her fingers as Kaito gagged but soon scoffed, crossing his arms much like he would do.

Damn Kaito took after him shit-

"As long as none of you cause a mess that is not my problem." He sighed, turning his back at the kids and waving at them over his shoulder "Try to not destroy the house while I'm not looking."

"We wont!" Kaito huffer before picking the shattered pillow before frowning "uh... daddy?"

"What now..?" He grimaced before looking at the shy kid whose begrudily showed the torn out pillow on both his hands.

"Help..? I still cant control it that well..." the boy said in shame and he soften his eyes at the much familiar dark brow hair son of his.

"Give it here." He sighed while crouching down and grabbing his son's hands while one of his free one had on the pillow "Concentrate on what form you want it, and how the pillow was before you used your quirk on it."

It was quiet until he saw the two girls looking in interest as he deadpanned.

"Isn't the surprise suppose to be ready until my wife comes here?"

"Right!" Haru yelped and grabbed the rest of the lights. He noticed the anticipation of his son to also help so instead he used his own quirk to put it back together.

"Huh?" Kaito noticed before being patted on the head.

"Go on. We can have lessons all the time, but your mother's birthday is only one time at the year so." He commented nonchantly as (E/c) eyes widened and shined as a little but bright smile appeared on the boy's face as he let out a happy giggle when Kai got up.

"Thank you daddy!" The boy said cheerfully before joining the girls and helping them with the lights since he was the tallest out of the three.

His gaze remained on them for a little before scoffing and going back to his work.

When he had became so... soft over two brats and one kid that wasn't even his own?

He grimaced and shaked his head to rid his head of this thoughts and returned to his office.

"I'm so tired..." you sighed while taking your heels off aa Kai stared at you.

"Dinner wasn't of your liking?"

"No no, it was amazing but you spared too much money as always." You giggled while hitting your head on his chest as he carresed with his gloved hand your hair.

Usually after a dinner, especially on your birthday he would... take you to the bedroom and... well, you know.

Ut just when he was about to kiss your neck after pulling his mask down he remember immediately the work his kids and Haru had done. Grimacing, he had to be strong to push his selfishness and lost aside to cup your cheeks to leave one passionate kiss. Enough for him to leave your head quite dizzy.

"Woah.." you whispered as he smirked, pecking your forehead as you pouted "Not going to continue what you started handsome?"

"Sadly, it seems like you have plans already." He sighed while walking and montioning for him to follow you.

"Huh? I don't have any? Or do I?" You followed him as he gave three knowns with the back of his fingers on a door.

"The brats have you for the night." Was the only thing he could muster before your son and daughter threw themselfs at you as Haru laughed but from some safe distance before going to you; on the ground by the way, your kids werent gentle; and giving a cheerful happy birthday along with the Chisaki twins and a hug.

"Woah!" You giggled before sitting up, Kin, giggling, and Kaito, smirking, on your lap "So that was the surprise you two hinted earlier?"

"We were actually scared that papa was going to tell you!" Kin exclaimed while climbing off from your lap and grabbing your hand.

"Yeah since he always fights with us to get you." Kaito mumbled before helping you up, smirking at the glare Kai had on him.

"So I-Oh my god you three did that?!" You exclaimed when you saw the room decorated as Kin nodded fervently before Kaito begrudilly pointed at Haru.

"Haru did most of the decorations..." the girl laughed before smilling up at you.

"I dont even know what to say kids.." you said with a smile as he sighed.

"I will let you four be for now. Anything just go to my office." He ignored your asking if he wasn't going to stay because he knew what was going to happen.

He didn't wanted Kaito or Kin to comment why he was hiding a toy on the middle of his pants.

He crossed paths with chrono, whose seemed torned out with something.

"Kai thank god." The male sighed before looking around "Have you seen Haru? I couldn't find her all day."

"She hadn't told you she was going to spend the night with my own pests and my wife? They literally stole her from the night." He commented nonchantly as Kurono face palmed.

"I forgot about that." He growled as Kai shook his head.
