TW/WARNINGS: having a gun pointed at you, concussions and being dazed, having to remove peices of armor from an unconscious person, blaster marks, mention of wounds, collapsing, fainting, having to care for a grown person, dead relatives, broken arms
A/N: Tysm! I'm so glad you liked it! And yes, there's going to be more than a few parts, they'll just come out very slowly 😭

.
.
.
.
Grumbling, you crouched down, setting down your new companion gently against a tree, breathing hard.
You had taken to slinging his arm around your shoulders and moving him that way, though his legs still dragged behind and your back was screaming with the effort of not collapsing under his weight. He had to be at least a foot and some change taller than you, making it even more difficult not to get his legs caught on things along the way.
The most nerve wracking part, though, was making sure he was still breathing normally and not slipping into some sort of coma.
You kneeled next to him, patting his chest plate and eventually his cheek insistantly to try to get him to open his eyes. Luckily, it worked, as it had the other three times, though he was just as out of it.
"9980…What?" He mumbled, blinking slowly.
You breathed a sigh of relief, he had been mumbling a series of numbers (who you guessed were, sadly, his brothers) and nonsense every time you had woken him up, but at least he was waking up.
"Okay, thank you, dear. You can go back to sleep now."
He hummed, closing his eyes again and resuming his light breathing.
You grunted, taking his arm around you again and pushing both of you to your feet once more.
After a few more hours of this, you finally reached the discreet, familiar path that led down to the safe house. You nearly sobbed with relief, your back and legs clearly sharing the sentiment.
You sped up, the decline allowing you some ease with your precious cargo. When you finally reached the door, you typed in the short code quickly, thanking the maker that you had memorized it as young as age five.
The door swooshed open, near good as new, and you almost dropped him in preemptive relief as soon as you passed the threshold. Instead, you continued to drag him, tapping along the hardwood floor with your foot until you found the hollow sound you seeked.
Finally you kneeled, still supporting his weight, and pressed firmly on the spot. You laughed lightly as the hatch rose slowly, always in awe of your grandfather's workmanship and his ability to bring older practices into the modern day so efficiently.
You poked your head into the space below. It smelled like dust more than anything, but you could make out faint traces of the incense he used to burn to flush out the smell of the game he would prepare in his workspace. Feeling along the wall, you found the switch, bathing the room in a soft orange glow.
You huffed, beginning a careful descent of the wooden steps that led into the space, yelping when you accidentally smacked his armored shoulder against the hatchframe.
After a few minutes of struggling, you finally got him down onto one of the three cots that lay collecting dust in the small room attached to the main living quarters.
"Oh, thank the maker-" You wheezed, bracing your hands on your aching back. You were so eager to just get everything in the storage rack unpacked so you would have food and medicine to actually live off of, nearly out the door to go do all of that before you passed out beside him, but you stopped.
One more time, just to be safe.
You beat the dust out of the cot beside him, moving him over. His breathing was still even, which you thought was a good sign as you leaned over him, trying not to invade his space more than you needed to to check on him.
You patted him quickly, "You still there, uh- sir?"
His eyes opened slowly once more, squinting as they adjusted to the lamp light.
You smiled down at him, brushing his hair back, "Good."
Slowly, your eyes came to rest upon his armor; you had to remove it, didn't you?
Would that be crossing a line? Maybe, but you would have to to inspect the blaster mark that marred his chest plate and to get a splint on that broken arm. It was necessary, even if it would probably be uncomfortable for both of you.
Carefully, you decided to start on his bad arm. He groaned as you undid his shoulder plate, making you wince.
"I know, I know- I'm sorry." You nodded, moving to his Rerebrace.
By the time you got to his gauntlet plate, you felt eyes on you.
You looked up and right into his dilated, honey irises.
"Oh, hello." You managed to laugh lightly, genuinely surprised that he had enough energy to stay awake for more than a few seconds.
He continued to stare, and you eventually went back to sliding off the last piece of that arms plating, placing it on the pile at your feet.
Setting his arm down as gingerly as you could, you went about unclipping his chest plate, placing the pieces on the floor and checking for damage to the chest of his black body glove that lay underneath. There didn't seem to be any blood or even a burn mark on it, thank the maker, it must have been a glancing shot.
Satisfied with your inspection, you got up, going to look for one of your grandfather's old medical journals to find how one actually went about making a splint. Or, you were, until he grabbed a hold of your wrist with his good hand.
You turned, confused as he squinted up at you for several moments.
Finally, he cracked a slight grin, letting out a flirty, slightly slurred, "Heyyy~"
You both stood like that for a second, staring at each other, until you snorted softly, detaching his hand with little effort, "Hey."
-
When you finally returned, armed with your new knowledge, a first aid kit, and a cool cloth, he was passed out again, snoring lightly now.
You placed it over his forehead, smiling when his pinched expression softened at the sensation.
Moving an old wooden chair to the side of the bed where his bad arm rested. It was a task to move it from his stomach in a way that minimized his wincing, but you managed, wrapping the area with the most swelling in a gauze bandage firmly.
Placing the splint along his forearm, you fastened it with straps of old fabric as tightly as you could without hurting him, avoiding the wound itself, and at last, you placed the arm carefully in a sling. You were shaking with nerves by the time you were finished, too nervous that you might've messed something up, but he didn't seem to be going into shock so you were most likely good.
Rising from your spot once more, you left the room, sending him one last look in the doorway before turning the corner to begin unfreezing a few portions for a decent supper for the two of you.
You were only a few minutes into beginning the cooking process on your small stove when you heard a bang from the other room, making you jump.
Getting up quickly, you rushed down the hall to make sure your new companion hadn't hurt himself by rolling off his cot or something, but when you arrived in the doorway again, you could only really stare in shock.
The man had somehow managed to get to his feet, albeit not steadily, shaking and swaying in a way that had you walking slowly and carefully over to him, nervous of startling him but terrified he would collapse and hit his head/arm.
Unfortunately for you, he was still awake enough to draw one of his blasters quickly when you did startle him, pointing them directly at you.
I really should have thought to take those off of him, you thought.
But you had been so concerned with getting him safely to the house that you had completely forgotten about the weapons, even though that's what you had approached him for in the first place.
The only thing you could do was stare like a dugar dugar in headlights as he trained them shakily on you.
Your eyes trailed from the barrels of his blaster to make contact with his, pleading in a way you hoped would show that you weren't a threat.
His eyes widened as they locked with yours and, slowly, he lowered his weapon, letting his arm fall limply to his side.
You let out a sigh of relief, not breaking eye contact as he stared at you, seeming almost in a dazed sort of awe. Though, your relief was cut short as he stumbled, falling to his knees as his eyes closed once more. You scrambled to his side, allowing him to collapse into you and sighing as his head came to rest on your shoulder, now breathing lightly again.
It wasn't a huge operation hauling him back up onto the bed, but you were still shaking from having a blaster aimed at you. You frowned down at his sleeping form, exasperated as you took the guns from his hand and holster.
This was going to be one long and wild ride, wasn't it?

The sealed fate of the Clones in The Bad Batch
The last scene between Vice Admiral Rampart and Captain Wilco is a dark foreshadowing of what’s to come for the clone army. “Corruption corrupts absolutely.” A horrible truth in the age of the Galactic Empire that will spell the end of the clones - pristine soldiers known for following rules and regulations to the letter. As seen with Wilco, clone troopers will not falsify reports for the personal needs of a superior.
An incorruptible force is now up against natural born, superior officers and political leaders who will stop at nothing to gain and retain as much power as the Empire will give them. Their fate is sealed and it’s so heartbreaking.
In conclusion, the Empire sucks and Rampart is #1 on my shit list. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

Do you ever think about how almost all the clones have no idea of the existence of the chip, and think they’ve killed the Jedi of their own free will? Thinking that the Jedi are traitors?
And that’s all well and good until they work for the new Galactic Empire for more than 5 minutes, and then there’s a question of what, or who, exactly is calling them traitors. If this Empire is like this, killing without thought, ruling by force, tyrannical and brutal, then was it really that bad if the Jedi were traitors?
And when the clones in question become traitors themselves, they have to live with the consequences of what they believe are their choices. Of killing their Jedi.
Do you ever think of Cody, who so badly wanted to believe that this self instated Empire was bringing about peace, that this was just the Republic he had fought for, what he had killed Obi-Wan for - having to believe he chose to kill Obi-Wan and follow the Empire in the first place?
He’s not some mindless order following man that we see Crosshair as, who supposedly has his chip out. He’s still fundamentally Cody - a damn good commander, headstrong and kindhearted, always questioning authority, if quietly, and ultimately believing in bringing peace to the galaxy. And he doesn’t lie to himself when it’s obvious, like Crosshair does. He doesn’t pretend like his actions aren’t wrong. When he’s finally disillusioned and can accept the cause he has been fighting for isn’t right, he leaves, with one last word with Crosshair about having to live with your choices.
Do you ever think about how Crosshair has had every opportunity to make any choice other than the ones he’s making, and yet still he hides behind the excuse of being a good soldier, and “good soldiers follow orders”?
Do you ever think about how Cody (hopefully) lives on, thinking he’s killed Obi-Wan, having to live with that as well as what he’s done with his short time with the Empire? Do you think he blames himself for not being able to stop Crosshair?

Guys I just had a scary thought
What if Wilco is AWOL according to the Empire as well… and the Empire got Cody, but they’re just making everyone think he went AWOL?
I need answers now

man, credit where credit is due: TBB really did the work in establishing the unspoken bit in Crosshair's confession to Hunter about his reason for siding with the Empire:
"I thought I was being a good soldier" ... until I met one.
As per, this show shines when it centres actual fucking Clones. Commander Mayday. Captain Wilco. Howzer. Y'all are the real ones and I'm sorry this show was never about you in the first place.

I've been thinking about what the Bad Batch means to me these past few weeks and things just don't quite sit right. When I started watching the Clone Wars, it felt like a lot of love and care had been poured into the project. The clones had unique personalities built from the ground up, with even minor characters getting quirks. Hevy only appeared in two episodes, yet is so loved. Hardcase is missed despite only really appearing in one arc because of expert character crafting and real, actual effort with the writing.
The point of the Clone War was that the clones were individuals, they had agency and they could have an impact on their lives and others. Referred to as 'property', with no representation or rights, they are slave soldiers in function, who are biologically identical although at times with slight variation, but their personalities and motivations matter and have weight. This is why Fives nearly ruins Palpatine's plans. This is why Rex is able to resist the inhibitor chip in Order 66 and help save Ahsoka.
This is why I'm not sure I can forgive the Bad Batch.
Spitting on Grandpa
Tumblr media
When the Bad Batch started, I was initially quite excited because it was advertised as a sequel to the Clone Wars. The first episode opens up with the title 'The Clone Wars' fading into the Bad Batch, but the show is anything but because the 'regs', as normal clones have been dubbed, don't matter now. Instead, the only characters with agency are a special group of clones who mostly don't look like the clones based on Jango Fett (Temuera Morrison) or even scientifically fit the basic definition of what a 'clone' is.
How is this not meant to be insulting for TCW and the Clone Fandom? I watch normal clones like Commander Wilco get shot in the face. I watch Mayday choke and die for Crosshair's development. I watch Rex play second fiddle to the Bad Batch on screen, the man and leader who used to always say "I'm always first, kid" and take the reins. I watch Cody appear for an episode only to not appear again this season and have no impact on the narrative other than Crosshair's development. Can 'regs' no longer change the world? Do the 'boring', 'regular' slave soldiers have no impact anymore?
Echo: "The fate of all the clones is now sealed because of us."
When it comes to normal clones impacting the narrative, the closest we get is Rex's resistance network, which features actual clones actually doing something. Yet apparently an episode about the Bad Batch discovering an island paradise world and battling a tsunami deserves more screen time than seeing how the 'regs' set that one up. Even this plot point is less about finally saving Howzer and normal clones like him, and more about Echo not being with the Bad Batch and further setting up the plot regarding Tech and Crosshair. The normal clones remain non-entities outside of the Bad Batch's development, they have no agency beyond this.
This is why we see stock reg clone characters bully the Bad Batch in the Season 1 opening, because despite them all being slaves under the thumb of fascism and the fact normal clones treated Ninety-Nine (the beloved hunchback clone from TCW Season 3) fine, it's the Bad Batch's plight that only matters now, their persecuted perspective on being special and better than the regs, regs that are now treated as old news, an afterthought. The world feels small, and inexcusably less richer than it was.
Tumblr media
Essentially, we're no longer allowed to see what the reg clones motivations are, why there are reg clones that actually, canonically, dislike the Bad Batch as opposed to Ninety-Nine. People like to speculate, but on screen we are not shown or told in TBB. We're also not shown why all the named clones from Howzer, Mayday, Fireball, Gregor and Nemec to Cut, Cody and Rex never had issues with the differences other than they're the good regs I guess. Hell, even Cody and Mayday's remaining squad say nothing of Crosshair's mutations, not even one catty comment.
Conclusion
So, what does this mean? The Bad Batch steals the clones' agency and makes it their own. They wear the clone identity, but refuse to help normal 'reg slave' clones that look like actual clones in favour of focusing on themselves and their 'more important' personal problems. The Bad Batch are special not because of who they are or that they've worked hard, but because they look different from other clones, because they're just more capable and have special abilities. It's not who you are that counts, it's what you are.
And, now, I even see fans doing what TCW told us not to, disregarding normal clones, 'explaining' why the Bad Batch are fine to leave the reg clones to die because they called them "The Sad Batch" one time. Somehow the Bad Batch undoes all of TCW's work, stripping the clones of their agency and making them into just victims sleepwalking into extinction as we wait for the Bad Batch to consider trying to actively save them.
Echo: "The fate of all the clones is now sealed because of us."
And, then the rest of TBB go cave exploring and holidaying on Pabu. This series might as well be about natborns.

Season 3 Spoilers
Tumblr media
Trooper X is CODY!
Why not Tech?
The voice cadence is off. Even with the voice distortion, it's not anywhere close to Tech's voice. Inhibitor chips didn't change the clones voices, highly doubt the Trooper X program would either.
Trooper X is no more taller than Wolfe. Means he's a Reg.
Someone has mentioned the trooper limping. He only did that after big rocks fell on him.
Someone mentioned the lower leg pack. Any trooper would carry that if it's useful.
Cody "Deserted" according to Rampart. But that doesn't mean he left the Empire. He refused to shoot Governor Ames when given an order. Since the Empire/Hemlock might not want to lose a valuable clone, instead of killing him like Wilco, using mind control was a better option. Besides desertion might be a way of speaking about Cody's state of mind regarding the Empire and not the actual act of him running off like Gregor did.
Defective clones showed to be extremely difficult or impossible to take to the reprogramming process.
Cody was Kenobi's clone commander and had seen a lot of military action. He would be very useful as a Trooper X.
While Tech's skill set was nothing to sneeze at, he would be better utilized as a science officer or tactical officer.
The confrontation with Crosshair on the waterfall fits better to CODY. They built a repoire during their mission together. Cody even requested to serve with Crosshair. To find out the soldier he had the utmost respect for (who openly discussed how they had to make their own choices and live with them too), refuses to take the governor's life, and gave Crosshair doubt about the Empire is now working for them. IT'S ANOTHER HORRIBLE SITUATION LIKE WITH MAYDAY. Crosshair can't have friends because of The Empire. Except Cody isn't dead, but it might feel like it.
Will the writers rip our hearts out with TECH? Probably. But not this way. Especially if they are continuing with character development with Crosshair. Cody is the next blow to Crosshairs character arc.
The goodbye discussion Phee had with Tech: "Don't go running off with any smugglers or pirates." Sticks out to me. Was there someone else on that planet besides Saw Guerrera and The Batch?
Saw Guerrera showed up randomly in this series twice. Seems strange that's all we would see of him. Did he or his people happen to pick up Tech and leave the planet?
Discuss!

My logical proof that Commander Cody WILL be coming back (and hopefully thriving 🥲) in TBB S3:
Commander Cody is the first live-action named clone we see.
Commander Cody is an important clone to the Star Wars universe as a whole, arguably right behind Rex.
Howzer has made an appearance in all three seasons, and he is a newer named clone. (Love you Howzer)
Cody is probably not Clone X because their builds are not the same—Clone X looks quite tall and lanky like Tech and Crosshair.
Cody went AWOL on his own terms because he was disillusioned by the Empire; the Desix mission sealed the deal for him. “Are we making the galaxy better?” = he wants to make the galaxy better, but serving the Empire does not allow him to do this.
I truly think Rampart doesn’t give a flying fuck about the clones—he does only if they threaten his personal agenda, and then he acts, usually violently (e.g., Wilco). That doesn’t give him that much of a reason to lie about Cody’s going AWOL to Crosshair. Rampart easily replaced Cody with CC-1226 after the Desix mission.
Killing Cody offscreen is such a disrespect to his character. Cody—an important clone as I’ve mentioned earlier—still has a story with loose ends from S2. He had major character development in “The Solitary Clone” and it only makes sense to expand upon it in S3.
Therefore, Cody will come back. 😌

Okay I want to talk about Crosshair
Warning spoilers for Bad Batch Seasons 2 Ep3
So I just want to spill my brain a bit on all this stuff and look at Crosshair as a character and the story Dave is trying to tell.
I think the big message season 2 is showing with the clones as a whole is that, "You are with the empire and do as you are told or you are dead."
It was a very clear message with the end of Episode 2 in season 2 where Rampart straight out shot Wilco for not following orders.
I think Crosshair figured that out very quickly when the empire started. Like right after his chip was removed or lied to about it being removed.
For note this is when I personally think Crosshair's chip was removed.
Tumblr media
The reason for that is because Tarkin said "Let's see of he stays that way."
So my assumption from that scene as a whole is either Crosshair actually had his chip removed in this scene or he was lied to and told that it was removed.
So let's go under the assumption that the chip was actually removed.
This is when I think Crosshair learned that you needed to be with the Empire or you were going to die. He was a commander. He had access to many things behind the scene that us as an audience probably haven't seen. Thus why he got permission to hunt down Clone Force 99 and try to recruit them back to the empire. The entire time he had his brothers best interest at heart.
Its why he stayed on that platform to go back to the Empire. He stayed there on that damn platform for 32 rotations because he knew it was the Empire or death. Plus it was also the Empire's punishment for failing at getting Clone Force 99 on the side of the Empire.
Crosshair knows this.
Now I don't personally think that Crosshair straight out said that the rest of the bad batch were dead. I feel like Crosshair just left that information out and Rampart assumed that they were dead. But because he never said that they were alive, I feel like it is safe to assume that Crosshair is protecting the bad batch.
I feel like Crosshair did the same thing with Cody in the The Solitary Clone episode. He shot Tawni before Cody could not follow orders. He saw what Cody was about to do and followed through with the Empire's new Governor's orders before Crosshair was ordered to kill both Tawni and Cody.
Crosshair is suffering while working for the Empire to protect his brothers. That and he sees no way out.

🚨 TBB S2 EP3 SPOILERS 🚨
~ read at your own risk ~
Apologies for the long rant, but my mind is racing-
A part of me thinks Crosshair is already working for Rex and Ahsoka and Senator Organa's fledgling rebellion.
Ik it's a long shot but just hear me out-
It's what Rampart said to him:
"Funny, isn't it? How clones around you keep disappearing?"
So... What if CROSSHAIR is behind all the AWOL clones? But Rampart has found out about TBB being alive, so what if he's maybe trying to play Crosshair while Crosshair was maybe trying to play him?
So another thought: What if Crosshair actually isn't siding with the Empire, but is the Luthen Rael of TBB now?
"I'm condemned to use the tools of my enemy to defeat them. I burn my decency for someone else's future. I burn my life to make a sunrise that I know I'll never see. And the ego that started this fight will never have a mirror or an audience or the light of gratitude. So what do I sacrifice? Everything!" - Luthen Rael, ANDOR S1:EP10
Crosshair keeps saying he does what needs to be done.
We don't know when or IF Crosshair got his chip out... So that's what's making me kinda iffy on this theory. If it was, I suspect it was early on in S1.
So that would mean he wounded Senator Onn Free Ta, he killed his TK squadron, he killed Governor Tawni Ames, he went above and beyond to show his loyalty to the Empire... But if his chip is out, what makes him different from dummy droids or even chipped regs who can't fight it?
He has to live with it.
We see he's having trouble sleeping. Instead of being with his brothers, he's surrounded by people who don't even want to eat a meal with him. He suffers degradation from his superiors and is not even a ranking officer anymore, and apparently went 32 rotations before being so graciously rescued by the Empire Rampart distinctly told him... left him for dead.
He knows he's worth nothing to them. He knows he'll never be considered a big part of the Empires predicted success. He'll be used and discarded.
But what if Crosshair's first act of saving clones from the Empire was making them think his own family was dead and they have no clue, he just made them think he was siding with the Empire since they refused and he didn't want them to know anything to protect them in the end?
But what if Crosshair was already working for the Rebellion in the last episodes of S1? And he wanted to recruit his family into the Empire because like he and Rex said, their squad could be a tremendous asset? They could help people?
This theory makes me nervous tho, for there always comes a time where the person on the inside gets found out... And die somehow.
More recently, Tala Durith (Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Lieutenant Gorn (ANDOR) to name a few.
In conclusion, in this episode, I saw smth different in Crosshair which is also why I've created this double-crossing theory. To me, he didn't look like the emotionless regs under the influence of the inhibitor chip. He looked kinda shifty. Wary. His obedience both in tone and physical demeanor seemed forced. And the way he and Commander Cody interacted in front of the Memorial, it was almost as if they were speaking in code. I don't believe Cody approved of Crosshair's ways on this mission. He was disappointed, obviously, and I think wants Crosshair to fight in a different way of their aware of each other's double-crossing, hence his parting words:
"You know what makes us different from battle droids? We make our own decisions. Our own choices... And we have to live with him too."
Cody made the decision to flee... He may be regretting it now seeing the extent Crosshair went to ensure he could if he was told to contact Crosshair by a trusted ally. He wants Crosshair, who apparently does think for himself, to think more carefully. He might not want Crosshair to feel what he might be feeling now: not liberated, but loathing. Himself.
Ofc I'm aware of the second theory: Cody has suffered the same fate as Wilco... So when Rampart says this to Crosshair, maybe this means that there's been lots of deaths in the Clone Army, and Cody is dead like them now. And what Rampart said to him is a veiled threat that the tiniest of slip up will result in the same fate for Crosshair. Heck, he'll probably push and pull him a few times for fun, he probably doesn't mean to keep him around for long

So that's another mark under the "new character/some guy" column for CC-1226. Having him pointed out in a review is interesting, implies he might actually appear beyond one episode since it's not like that's the first new clone we see (RIP Wilco, Cade, AND Slip)
Please new clones who do not die? Pretty please?

I just got around to watching the latest episode of tbb and I have some unhinged Thoughts
Aaaaaaaaaaa crosshair is just so sad. He’s SO sad. He’s so lonely without his batchmates and I just KNOW if he’d stuck around he would be having a great time annoying hunter and teaching omega to shoot better and making fun of tech and WHY IS HE SO SAD
Seeing crosshair interact with someone from his life before the empire was just so,,, aaaaaaaaa! He and Cody used to have fun and good banter and they were homies and now there’s so much Tension it’s just :((
Cody’s meeting place being the memorial is just so painful. You just know he thinks about all his brothers that have died. He’s sad. I’m sad.
Ok the music in this episode was so tense. It all had the same vibe as Burying the Dead but like.. with more anxiety. So good thank you Kiner Bros.
I noticed in this episode how little freedom the clone commanders have even compared to when they were under the republic. Obviously we saw that with Wilco (rip my Boy) but it was so much more obvious to me with Cody. Obi Wan used to give Cody basically free reign to do whatever he wanted because Cody is competent. The negotiation thing would’ve worked! It showed creativity and ingenuity and compassion and all the things clones were bred to Not have but it would have WORKED! But no he has to follow every order exactly
“So much for peace” yea padme would agree. In fact she would have loved this lady. I miss her.
Cody went AWOL. He finally did it. I wonder what was the last straw for him. Does he think obi wan is dead because of him? Does he think Rex is dead? Probably. What will he find out? Will he meet Rex? Please let him and Rex get back together don’t just leave Cody here I need him to give Rex a good hug.
Some of Cody’s thoughts and mannerisms and such were reminding me of fives but daVE IF YOU DO TO CODY WHAT YOU DID TO FIVES MR. FILONI I WILL STEAL YOUR HAT

i'm going to be honest i wasn't into this commander cody arc or episode. it just seems like the horror of the inhibitor chip keeps getting more and more downplayed. if its so easy for them to rebel against ("more and more clones rebelling") then what was the point of any of it. the entire clones wars was about these clones gaining a sense of individuality and brotherhood thats stripped in the end by the entire reason they were created. And I love clones innately knowing what they're doing is wrong and having their innate goodness and loyalty corrupted (like wilco) but in the long run they were destined to be used and dismissed because of things they couldn't control. fives arc is the saddest because he dies knowing it wasn't his brothers fault, it was the way they were made. and yet, it's fives warnings that cause the slightest tremor in rex's hands when he aims his guns at ahsoka, saving her. I feel like if Cody, who crosshair saw as more willing to work spontaneously and outside of the rigid republic orders, stayed loyal and shot ames, it would have more of an influence on his arc.
edit: the chip is not jedi exclusive. it was installed to prevent the clones from being "overly aggressive and independent" as said on the wiki. it was used on slave wookies to keep them under control
