Winter break has been long awaited and it is finally, finally here. The snow has coated the ground thick, making the town look like a winter wonderland. The air is sharp and cold but not to a miserable extent. Just chilly enough to bundle up, to hold a hand a little tighter and soak up their warmth.

Your favorite season is fall, but the later months are a close second. You love seeing the way everyone’s faces get red when snow flurries come down to kiss their nose and cheeks. Love the way pom poms bounce atop little hats as children play and have snowball fights. Winter is surprisingly one of the warmest, sweetest times of the year. Like the hot coco Jeongguk has been swapping your regular macchiato with lately.

There’s a greatly anticipated party tonight- a mashup of Taehyung’s birthday and New Year’s Eve. Anticipated for the simple fact that said birthday boy has steadily been ignoring you for weeks, and tonight was a night where he couldn’t evade your attempts of reconciliation. He hasn’t returned a single call or even sent a text back. You can’t even be mad at him really, you know it’s justified. You know you fucked up. The coffee date you had with Yoongi last week let you know what you did.

Over an iced coffee, you learned that you had unintentionally skipped out on your best friend's Winter Showcase. The important one that he mentioned multiple times. The one you promised to attend no matter what.

It wasn’t on purpose; you wanted to go, to support him. But you just got caught up. In life, in school, in Jeongguk. It happens.

When Yoongi asked you why you had missed it, when he told you how hurt Taehyung was by your absence, your heart dropped, sank deep within your chest as your mouth fell open before closing, a small pursed frown on your lips. You didn’t have a good excuse. You went to get tattoos with Jeongguk and then to a party where you fucked him, and then home after that? You were too tired to make it? You just simply forgot? Those excuses weren’t good enough for you and you knew they wouldn’t be good enough for Taehyung.

Whereas Yoongi was okay with distance, long periods in between hanging out and talking, Taehyung wasn’t. He was the kind of friend that needed support, reassurance that you cared. He liked quality time and hangs outs that were planned ahead so he could look forward to them. He was looking forward to you being at his showcase.

The party is packed, even more so than usual. Students, drop-outs, alumni, and randoms alike, all congregate to bring in the new year, to celebrate the end of finals, and a certain art majors birthday. Bodies are on bodies, music is loud and deafening. Cups, bottles, and small baggies litter the floor and the smell of weed is nauseating.

Jeongguk’s hand in yours is sweet, though. Enough to ebb the distaste in your mouth as you watch the stereotypical disaster that is a college party.

“I’m going to go find the drinks, okay?” you lie, squeezing Jeongguk’s hand lightly.

He squeezes back, kisses the side of your head as he says, “Bring me one back too?”

You nod, and slip out of his view. Scanning the crowd until you see a familiar face.

Jimin is laughing, red cup in his hand, eyes curled and happy. He’s sitting on the arm of a couch, legs swinging as he laughs with a group of people. He takes a drink from his cup and let’s his eyes roam the room like he’s looking for someone.

The way his face changes when he sees you approaching is like a punch in the gut. It goes from happy, and carefree to stony- only a small, irritated, close-lipped smile on his face. Eyes harsh and cold, no longer holding the mirth they were just seconds ago. He says nothing when you step in front of him, he just looks you over like he’s bored and waiting for you to get on with it so he can be done with it.

You shift on your feet under his scrutiny. “Where’s Tae?” you ask.

Jimin narrows his eyes at you and tilts his head. “Now you want to know where he is? Haven’t been concerned with his whereabouts for months. Definitely weren’t worried about it last week.”

You wince but carry on swiftly. “Listen, I know I fucked up. I’m here to apologize.” You look at him expectantly, but he holds his ground. When he doesn’t falter, you resort to begging, “Please, Jimin. He’s my best friend… I miss him.”

You must look pitiful, because Jimin’s indifferent facade fades, and he clicks his tongue like he’s annoyed at himself for giving into you. “He’s getting us drinks in the kitchen.”

A smile takes over your face as you rush out a ‘thank you’, quickly turning on your heel to head in the opposite direction, before Jimin calls after you.

“Yeah?” you ask, looking over your shoulder at him.

“If he’s your best friend, maybe treat him like it, yeah?”

You continue to the kitchen without replying, and you can’t help the little simmer of annoyance that bubbles in your chest. Taehyung has been your best friend for years. And even though Jimin had a point, who was he to tell you anything about yours and Taehyung’s friendship?

Before the thought can fester, however, you see the boy you came looking for, two bottles of vodka in his hand like he’s trying to decide which to use. You see the little party hat atop his shaggy hair before anything else and your heart aches a little. You really did miss him. He lets out a small annoyed sound, and knowing him, he’s probably trying to figure out which has the highest alcohol percentage. You come up next to him, and say his name gently. He jumps, but when he realizes it’s you, the ghost of a smile curls on his lips like he’s happy to see you.

Until it’s replaced with resentment just as quickly. His sharp eyes squint at you before turning back to the bottles in his hands, scowl still in place.

“So you decided you could pencil me in between getting your heart toyed with and your back blown out?” He gives you a side glance and sees how your jaw drops in surprise. He carries on, unbothered. “Or did this just work out because it coincides with New Year’s and because he was invited? Only because he’s Jimin’s friend might I add.”

“Tae-” you try, doing your best to keep the hurt whine out of your tone.

“Save it, __. I don’t want to hear the excuses you have. Just-” he looks at you again, and you think that maybe he softens when he sees your crestfallen features. He sighs like he’s tired. “Just leave me alone. Just for a bit, okay? I’ll get over it eventually,” he finishes, finally deciding on the vodka he wants.

You know his request isn't unreasonable. But it’s already been so long that the distance in your friendship has been eating away at it, that you’re scared ‘eventually’ might take too long and by the time he comes around, there won’t be much of a friendship left. That the damage done, will be irreparable.

“Tae… It’s already been months, can’t we-”

Like night and day, the softness that you were able to pull out of him is immediately replaced with that resentment and anger you were met with when you first stepped into the kitchen.

“Yeah,” he seethes, strong brows furrowed. “And whose fault is that?”

His words are sharp and the sting from them makes you take a step back. That is, until you feel anger of your own creep up your throat like venom. “You’re one to talk, Taehyung. You could have reached out to me, too. You’re no better than me when you’re in a relationship.”

He groans, gives an exasperated laugh before shrugging. “You know what? Maybe I am just as bad as you, but at least I’m actually in a relationship,” he spits, “You’re just fucking someone that doesn’t give a fuck about you.”

You know he’s hurt because of the distance. That he doesn’t intend to be so mean. But that doesn’t make it hurt any less, and it doesn’t stop the angry tears from pooling in your eyes.

And although you’re angry, almost shaking with rage at the feeling of being cornered and blamed, your heart aches at hearing his words.

Jimin, who started seeing Taehyung after you started seeing Jeongguk, had already made your friend official. Had given him the title, the commitment, the relationship that you had been patiently and understandingly waiting for with Jeongguk. The bitterness that bleeds into your heart makes you feel gross and ugly.

You know what they say; that labels are superficial and don’t mean that much. But when you don’t have them? It makes you wonder. If a label really isn’t that important, like everyone says, why is Jeongguk so reluctant to give one to you?

“Jimin’s your boyfriend?” you whisper.

Taehyung gives you a short nod. “Month and half ago. You would’ve known if you got your head out of Jeongguk’s ass.”

Almost like he was summoned, the topic of debate waltz into the room, coming up behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist. He nuzzles into your neck.

It’s instinctual now, the way your body responds to him. The way you melt into his chest like second-nature, how your hands settle over his like they are keeping them in place. How immediately in his presence you feel calmer; the panicky, hurt feeling you were experiencing moments ago vanishing as if it were just a fleeting thought and not something that’s always in the back of your head.

Not in a possessive, ‘I need him to be mine’ kind of way, though.

More like, ‘Why won’t he be mine?’

“Hi,” he murmurs into your neck.

“Hi, baby,” you respond softly, out of habit. The room shirks around you whenever he’s near. Makes you feel like you’re in your own bubble with him.

Jeongguk’s about to reply, ask where the drinks are, but then he hears an annoyed scoff sound in front of you both. Jeongguk bristles as he looks up and sees Taehyung taking a big swig from his cup.

“Uh- am I interrupting? Should I go?” he asks hesitantly, looking between you and your friend.

“No-” you say at the same time that Taehyung says, “Yes.”

You cringe, and turn in Jeongguk’s arms, hands resting on his chest. “Just give me a couple more minutes okay? I’ll bring the drinks.”

Jeongguk searches your eyes, before looking at Taehyung one last time before giving you a stern nod and a quick kiss.

You turn back to Taehyung, ready to apologize for Jeongguk’s interruption, when he talks over you.

“You’re pathetic,” he starts, and you roll your eyes with an irritated sigh before he continues, “but I know you love him. And that you can’t help it,” he shrugs. “But as your friend, I have to tell you that it’s not going to end well. You probably don’t even need me to tell you that. You probably already know and are choosing to ignore it for the sake of the delusions you’ve made up in your ‘pretty little head’.”

You pout at him quoting you, and your brows furrow. “He cares about me. And he’s Jimin’s best friend. He’s a good person, you don’t even know him,” you argue defensively. Though you know your arguments make little sense and are flimsy at best.

Taehyung frowns. Pauses like he’s thinking.

“I didn’t say he was a bad person, and maybe he does care about you in his own messed up way. But he doesn’t care about you in the way that you want him to.” His lips are still down turned when he speaks again.

“And the difference between him with you and him with Jimin is astronomical; it shouldn’t even be a comparison, but I will humor you,” he rubs a hand up and down his face like he’s tired. “The dynamic is completely different, for obvious reasons. For one, Jimin is a safe relationship. You are not. Jimin isn’t in love with him, Jimin isn’t sucking his dick, and Jimin doesn’t want things from Jeongguk that Jeongguk cannot give, or does not want to give,” he says with a raised brow as he takes a sip of his drink.

It seems that the anger has died down some between you both, a semi-civil conversation finally being had. You wrinkle your brows in confusion at him. “What are you talking about?”

He rolls his eyes. “Cmon __. Why do you think he hasn’t made you his girlfriend? Why do you think he literally has not been in a serious relationship since high school? Why do you think he never agrees to anything more than 2 months out?” He waits for you to answer but you just purse your lips stubbornly. “He’s scared. Dare I say terrified of commitment, and that’s exactly what you want from him right?”

You stay headstrong and quiet for a moment longer, ignoring his question in favor of asking one of your own when you finally do speak up. “If I’m so scary, why hasn’t he left?”

Taehyung shrugs. “Fuck if I know? Maybe he does care about you like you say he does. I don’t think so, but hey,” He raises his hands in mock surrender, like he is throwing in the figurative towel. “Maybe you’re right and maybe I‘m wrong. Or maybe there’s some fucked up codependency fermenting between you both when you copulate. I genuinely have no clue, and frankly, I don’t care to find out. Don’t text me until you come to your senses. And don’t get mad when I tell you ‘I told you so’.”

And with that, he turns and leaves you to make your own drinks. You hope the smile you give Jeongguk when you find him is believable.

That night when you go back to his place, you voice your concerns to him in between sweet, heated kisses that taste like hot cider. You tell him hesitantly how Taehyung voiced his concerns about Jeongguk not caring about you and Jeongguk got a little irritated, a little miffed as he unlatched his lips from your neck. He asked what Taehyung knew, how he even came to that conclusion when he’s not around you both.

He assured you with gentle touches and tender words that of course he cares about you. He reminded you that he always makes time for you, he always answers your calls and your texts, he takes you out every now and then, too. He asks you what you think and when you contemplate your answer, going over what he said, you can’t really argue with him. Even if an uneasy, dismal feeling settles in the pit of your tummy.

For years she tried to have a child and when she’s finally successful she is extremely excited

I’m talking jumping up and down while sobbing tears of joy

Zoe pounding on the door making sure that Cordelia is alright

But then it hits her that she’s worried she will be like Fiona

Her closest girls and Myrtle assure her that she could never be like Fiona

“Little bird, you have too much love in your heart to follow in your mother’s footsteps”

Cordelia still reads every parenting book she can get her hands on

Staying up late into the night

Some nights falling asleep with the book in her hands

She baby proofs the entire house from top to bottom

Stars on the ceiling that glow in the dark

Cordelia casting a protection spell over the nursery

When the baby finally arrives, Cordelia is all smiles

Cooing over the baby and falling head over heals for her bundle of joy

The girls are super excited to see their youngest member

The girls didn’t think Cordelia could get any more protective over something, but it turns out she can

Cordelia loves each and every one of her students and protects them like they are her own children

This is intensified even more when the baby comes along

She tries her best not to be too protective though

Cordelia doesn’t get to cook for her kid too much, but when she has a day off and on the weekends she tries to

Cordelia is almost always at meals with her child though

Even if she is busy she will make time for it

Sitting by her child at almost every meal

Some meals Cordelia does have to sit out on to do work

Sometimes even when Cordelia is present, Zoe or Mallory insists on helping feed the kid

The girls love to help out (unless it’s with diapers)

Coco and Madison are the worst when it comes to messes though

When Misty is babysitting, she insists that the child listen to Stevie Nicks with her

During the early years of her child’s life, Cordelia will have her child stay in her office with her

Sitting on her lap while she does paper work

Cordelia avoiding getting drool and other things on said paper work

Humming songs to entertain the child

Cheerios scattered onto her desk

Baby toys on the rug in the center of her office

Keeps a crib in the office as well

A few times the child and Cordelia will take naps on the couch together

As in a few times I mean at least once every other week

The child has nap time every day, but sometimes the Supreme joins in as well

The young child laying on Cordelia’s chest and Cordelia’s arms wrapped around them to keep them from falling

Sometimes one of the older girls will come in and insist the Cordelia take a break

Or taking the young child out to play in the yard so that Cordelia can get some quiet time or handle a meeting

Cordelia and her kid also spend time in the greenhouse together

Cordelia watering the plants while her child wanders around the room looking at all the plants (doing their best to help their mom out)

The black cat from episode one of Coven is still their and Cordelia and her kid take care of it together along with the plants

Showing her child how to pet the cat gently because kids are wild sometimes and don’t know how to pet animals

Myrtle loves to spoil the child

This child is surrounded by so much love in the Coven

Pretty much everyone celebrating milestones with Cordelia like first steps and first words

Cordelia totally cries when these things happen

Sobbing when her child shows their first signs of magical abilities

On Halloween, Cordelia would dress up as a witch or black cat and take her kid trick or treating

Would totally have her baby’s first costume be a witch or a pumpkin

Makes a big deal out of holidays because Fiona never did

Goes on vacation at least once a year during breaks from school so that she can relax from her duties as headmistress for a little bit and be with her sunshine

Would take her kid to Disney World or Disney Land at least once

Spoils her kid from day one

When her child is old enough to attend the academy, there isn’t much of a difference between the dynamic of the two

During the teenage years it’s nearly impossible for Cordelia’s kid to sneak out or break any rules without Cordelia knowing

Even if Cordelia didn’t see it happen, one of the faculty members or older students probably did

If Zoe, Mallory, Misty, or Coco witnessed it, her kid was screwed because those four have a hard time lying to the Supreme

Mallory may be able to cover the whole apocalypse thing happening, but she cannot look Cordelia in the eye when she has to lie to her about other stuff

Queenie would turn a blind eye to it

Madison would save the information for potential blackmail later on

Cordelia has a hard time being strict

She doesn’t want to seem like a “bad guy”

Even after years, it’s hard for her to discipline her kid

She might say they’re grounded for a week, but the punishment doesn’t last longer than four days usually

If it is a huge rule that has been broken she does stick to her guns though

Cordelia does love having her child near her all the time though

Even though she is busy with Supreme duties, she still gets to be there for her child as much as she can

Her room is still right beside her child’s and even when her kid is in their teens, she still does her best to be with them 2/3 meals a day

Cordelia would give her child some privacy though

Knocks before entering a room and wouldn’t be the type to search their kid’s phone

I did not expect to get over 1,100 responses to my “hehe what do my fellow wuhluhwuhs think of rwby” survey, but here we are! I’m honored and the statistics nerd in me is absolutely giddy, so here’s responses with 10x the scope of our last writeup, 150+ responses! And remember that we’re still plugging so if you haven’t yet take the survey here!

Demographic

As of 1,100+ votes:

44.7% of survey takers identify as Lesbian 37.8% as Bisexual 11.8% as Pansexual 16.1% as Asexual 3.4% as Aromantic

When it comes to umbrella terms, 13.1% use the umbrella term sapphic, 23.2% use WLW, and 22.1% use Queer

(Note that this is a “select all that apply” question, so one may, for example, hit “bisexual, aromantic, and wlw”; percentages do not necessarily take away from each other.)

81.3% respondents identify simply as a Woman 19.8% identify as Non-binary

When it comes to non-binary identities, 5.9% identify as genderfluid, 3.9% identify as a demigirl, and 3.3% identify as genderqueer.

The 300 writing challenge.

A while ago I hit 300 followers and though to some people that might not seem like a lot, I am thankful for each and every single one of you.

To celebrate this milestone I want to invite you all to join my writing challenge. I collected a huge list of quotes from Disney movies (since that is another passion of mine) for you to chose from and get inspired by.

Rules:

Anyone can join! You don’t have to follow me but it would be very nice of you to do so.

Any fandom and character is fine with me but of course I personally love reading about the people I write about. To see my writing check out my masterlist by adding /masterlist after my URL. (I would prefer reader insert fics though).

Chose up to 3 quotes and let yourself get inspired by them. Please bold them in your story. You can mix and match, they don’t have to be from the same movie.

The quotes should be used in your piece but you do not have to follow the plot or themes of the movies. Feel free to take the quotes completely out of context.

To join, send me an ask with your chosen quotes and the character you want to write about. It’s first come first serve so once the quote is crossed out it’s taken.

All kinds of stories are welcome: smut, angst, fluff, whatever else you can come up with. Please put any warnings where necessary though.

Cori Gauff Storms Back for Another Wimbledon Win

WIMBLEDON, England — Cori Gauff stood near the net watching a lob from Polona Hercog sail over her head and across the shadows at Centre Court early Friday evening.

“Please go out, please,” Gauff said later, describing her thoughts.

The 15,000 spectators in the stands — most of them newly minted Gauff supporters — were probably thinking the same thing.

If the lob went in, it would be a winner for Hercog. If it went out, another milestone would belong to the 15-year-old who has, over the past five days, earned scores of fans not only at this tournament but worldwide.

The ball landed long, setting off an immediate wave of cheers that shook the hallowed court as the long-limbed Gauff jumped up and down in delight.

“I was like, ‘Wow, I can’t believe it, it’s been one long match!” she said later. “It’s finally over!”

Gauff had done the improbable yet again, beating a tour veteran at Wimbledon. This time she did it after losing the first set and falling behind by 2-5 in the second, when her opponent reached the first of two match points that would not be converted.

The final score: 3-6, 7-6 (7), 7-5, in 2 hours 47 minutes.

Suddenly, surprisingly, Gauff, also known as Coco, had barged her way into the round of 16 at Wimbledon. She is the youngest woman to reach the second week of a Grand Slam tournament since 1991, when a 15-year-old Jennifer Capriati made it to the Wimbledon semifinals.

Gauff has left fans at this tournament, and indeed across Britain and back home in the United States, in her thrall. Call it Coco-mania.

Gauff’s other victories this week — against Venus Williams, one of her idols, and the Slovakian veteran Magdalena Rybarikova — had set the stage for the excitement surrounding Friday’s match.

As is now fairly well known, Gauff had not expected to be at Wimbledon this year. Ranked No. 313 in the world, she came only after receiving a last-minute wild card into the qualifying tournament, which she marched through without losing a set.

By Friday, she was Wimbledon’s headline act. Tournament organizers placed Novak Djokovic, the defending men’s singles champion, on the No. 1 Court, the second largest, while Gauff got the main stage against the 60th-ranked Hercog.

Gauff had played her first two matches on the No. 1 Court, and for a long while Friday it seemed that the bigger platform might be too much.

It hit her at the start, Gauff said later. Her description of the feeling: “Wow, I’m really on Centre Court. One of the most sacred courts in the world.”

For the first time in the tournament, Gauff seemed to play like the inexperienced teen that she is. She struggled for her range, spraying balls long and wide.

Hercog, a 28-year-old Slovenian, went all out on her own groundstrokes and homed in on Gauff’s forehand, which has a bigger swing than her compact backhand and is more prone to errors.

“I felt like I had to go bigger, because she was hitting so many forehand winners,” Gauff said. “I knew that I had to hit bigger. I think I was trying to hit too big, to a point where I was missing a lot.”

The first set went by quickly, and the second initially looked like more of the same. Hercog raced to a 5-2 lead and was poised for the win. Serving to stay alive, Gauff saved a match point with a slicing, down-the-line backhand that peeled off the sideline for a winner.

Hercog served in the next game and gained another match point. This time she double-faulted. From then on, this contest was a battle of wills.

In the tiebreaker, Gauff fell behind again. But she began opening her shoulders and hitting with more power, while also reining in errors. When she took the tiebreaker by ending a 32-shot rally with a forehand winner, the crowd went nuts.

“We Brits love our fairy tales, and this is a fairy tale!” a BBC announcer said, surely aware that the match was drawing a large audience. Gauff’s match on Wednesday had been the most watched in Britain from this year’s tournament.

Gauff took an early lead against Hercog in the third set but lost it. With her opponent gaining confidence, Gauff responded by cranking up her power again. She held her last two service games without losing a point.

Then, with Hercog serving to stay in the match and the crowd cheering wildly, came the final breathless, side-to-side rally. The 19th shot was Hercog’s lob. When Gauff watched it sail long, the grounds at the All England Club thundered — from Centre Court to a packed crowd watching on the video screen at Henman Hill.

In the news conference afterward, Gauff flashed a mix of preternatural calm and teenage giddiness. Before any of the reporters could get off a question, she smiled broadly and said she had an announcement.

“I know this is off topic,” she said, “but I wanted to say, ‘Please stream “Erys” by Jaden Smith.’ His album dropped yesterday.”

Gauff was all business for a while after that. She adroitly analyzed her match, thanked her coaches and explained how she had practiced her slice groundstrokes before Wimbledon, which rewards low, skidding sliced balls.

“I’m definitely learning from each match,” Gauff said. “Seeing that crowd and hearing how they react sometimes in the middle of the point, they get excited. I’m just getting a little bit of experience match by match.”

Then she lapsed back into being a teenager. Told that images of her mother dancing during the match were going viral on social media, Gauff showed more excitement than she had at any other point in the media room.

“Please tell me she’s a meme!” she said giddily. “I’m so excited to go on Instagram!”

Massive Crowd Witness Heineken Green Synergy Grande Finale 2018!

Deejays at the 2018 Heineken Green Synergy Finals, definitely “brought it on” Sunday September 23, as they created at electrifying atmosphere, entertaining the massive crowd that turned out for the event.

The 2018 Heineken Green Synergy Finals was held within the rustic ambience of the Fond D’or Heritage Park in Dennery. There, not only did organizers “amplify the beat” but also upped the ante, as far as the décor and presentation was concerned, with attractive photo booths, sampling stations, huge screens for viewing options as well as the signature decorative Heineken Star.

The stage itself was a masterful creative centerpiece, as Heineken Green Synergy House DJ, DJ Chubby welcomed early entrants to the event with his musical vibe and energy.

Shortly after 5 pm the MCs for the evening Donerville from Saint Lucia and Patrick “the Hype Man” from Trinidad & Tobago took to the stage, welcoming patrons to the Heineken Green Synergy “battle royale”.

The first DJ in the skills component was Fusionist Ata, a consistent competitor over the past few years. His featured “live” performer, (a new component of the event this year) was inspirational Reggae singer Maxwell. X-Factor, the defending skills champion blended his skills and tricks set with a performance by Dennery Segment artiste Freezy, while newcomer DJ Snow engaged the audience with vocalist and saxophonist Rashaad.

DJ Cue, who is a second time Heineken Green Synergy finalist, was able to thrill the audience with his dancers and his overall stage performance, while Kerbz Extatic and DJ Omega performed with Yung Homie and Groovy King Arthur respectively.

Newcomers DJ Vaze and DJ Coolie presented Ezra “daFunMachine” and Prospere respectively during their sets, and former champ Swall-I’s performer of choice was soca artiste Imran Nerdy.

Dennery Segment artistes Fast Lane & Pablo came up in the mix for DJ Nedely while skills DJ and another former champion DJ T-Boog, wrapped things up with a performance by female soca star Sergie.

Ahead of the second segment – the Clash Competition, the large and animated crowd was entertained by Mix Master Pauly of St. Maarten a former Regional Heineken Green Synergy Champion, as well as DJ Watty from Trinidad and Tobago.

In the clash segment, the first battle featured Star Run It Red vs DJ Wayne with Wayne emerging victorious. The second clash saw DJ Rufus defeating DJ Shabba, while Hot Skull Entertainment won over DJ Deal, DJ Ropey over DJ Erv and Twinz of Twinz over DJ Legend.

The five winners plus last year’s champion Kerbz Extatic, were then paired for the next round.

Kerbz who came up against DJ Hot Skull won that round, Twinz of Twinz won over Rufus and Wayne over Ropey.

The three winners plus the best loser then clashed with Twinz of Twinz and Kerbz Extatic making it through to the final round.

At this stage the DJs were thrown surprise genres and artistes of choice by the respective judges, a refreshing and welcomed addition to the event.

With the crowd by now fully enthralled with the clash, Kerbz Extatic was able to wow them as well as the judges to take home the win over Twinz of Twinz who put on a valiant fight.

So in the end the clash winner for the second straight year at the Heineken Green Synergy finals is Kerbz Ecstatic with a prize of EC$8,000. Second place clash winners are Twinz of Twinz. And, also retaining his title in the skills segment and walking away with EC$18,000 in cash and prizes is X-Factor. The second place skills DJ is DJ Cue.

On the night, organizers presented trophies to winners as well as plaques to participating DJs and MCs. Special recognition trophies were presented to Star Run It Red for ten years participation in Green Synergy and Head judge Toni Nicholas for fifteen years of service to the competition.

According to Mindy-Luquiana Chicot, Brand Manager at WLBL, the competition this year hit a development milestone and this was exhibited in the musical sets of the DJs. “Every year we are tasked with the challenge to innovate and grow the event and we are elated to have accomplished this with the addition of the live performance element which really pushed the DJs to be more creative. After fifteen years we are humbled by the continued support for the event,” she says.

The 2018 Heineken Green Synergy finals which was powered by FLOW 4G LTE and Coco Palm, was the fifteenth in what is now the longest running DJ competition of its kind in the region.

Organizers would like to congratulate the winners and thank all the participating DJs and MCs as well. Special thanks to the patrons and fans who keep supporting the event, as well as the MCs, judges, service providers, the media, the police, staff and all who helped make the event the grand success that it was.

Box Office: ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ Tops $1 Billion Worldwide

LOS ANGELES (Variety.com) – Disney-Lucasfilm’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” has cleared the $1 billion milestone in worldwide grosses in less than three weeks.

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” pulled in $120.4 million globally on the New Year’s Eve weekend with $52.4 million at 4,232 domestic venues and $68 million internationally during the Friday-Sunday period.

“The Last Jedi” is now the eighth highest-grossing domestic movie of all time with $517.1 million — only $15 million behind last year’s “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” in the seventh spot. On the worldwide chart, it’s now 24th with $1.04 billion, edging Universal-Illumination’s “Despicable Me 3.” The tentpole’s international total, currently at $523.2 million, will see a significant jolt when it opens on Jan. 5 in China, its final market.

“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” has also topped Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” which grossed $504 million in North America, for the top spot among 2017 releases domestically. It’s the fourth 2017 title to go past $1 billion worldwide, along with “Beauty and the Beast” at $1.26 billion, “The Fate of the Furious” at $1.24 billion and “Despicable Me 3” at $1.03 billion.

“The Last Jedi” is also winning the domestic weekend box office crown for the third time with $52.4 million, edging Sony’s “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,” which took in $50.6 million at 3,765 locations for the Friday-Sunday. However, Sony’s projection showed the “Jumanji” sequel grossing $16.5 million on New Year’s Day on Monday — well above Disney’s forecast of $13.2 million for “The Last Jedi.” Should those numbers hold, “Jumanji” would edge “Jedi” over the four-day period with $67 million, winning by $1.4 million.

“Jumanji” has been “The Last Jedi‘s” biggest competitor by far since it opened on Dec. 20. The action-comedy should wind up with an 11-day domestic total of $186.3 million by the end of Monday. The action-comedy, starring Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart, has a $90 million budget. It’s also performed impressively in international markets with $107 million thr0ugh Dec. 28.

“Jedi” and “Jumanji” helped lift the entire domestic box office for 2017 to $11.12 billion, down 2.3% from last year’s $11.38 billion and off slightly from 2015’s $11.14 billion, according to comScore. The gap for 2017 had been more than 6% at the end of the worst summer in a decade but performances by “It,” “Thor: Ragnarok,” “Justice League,” “Jedi” and “Jumanji” closed most of that margin.

Universal’s “Pitch Perfect 3” led the rest of weekend’s domestic pack with a projected $22.7 million at 3,468 locations for Friday-Monday, lifting its 11-day total to $69.2 million. The comedy threequel, starring Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, took in $13.1 million this weekend from 34 international markets for a foreign total of $28.6 million.

Hugh Jackman’s musical drama “The Greatest Showman” is finishing a close fourth with $20.3 million at 3,316 theaters forecasted for the four days. The Fox-Chernin Entertainment title showed the biggest gain in the top 10 movies from the Christmas Eve weekend with an impressive 73% surge. The domestic total should hit $53.8 million through Monday.

Fox’s second weekend of “Ferdinand” — the only film to open on the same weekend as “The Last Jedi” — followed in fifth with $15.1 million at 3,337 North American venues, giving the animated comedy $57.3 million in 18 days. Disney-Pixar’s seventh weekend of “Coco” finished sixth with a projected $8.8 million at 2,845 sites for a domestic total of $181.1 million and $539 million worldwide.

Sony’s “All the Money in the World” and Focus Features’ “The Darkest Hour” were in a battle for seventh place at about $7.2 million for the four days. “All the Money” opened on Christmas Day as the final wide release of the year at 2,074 locations after director Ridley Scott excised Kevin Spacey’s scenes and reshot them with Christopher Plummer as J. Paul Getty, following the early November sexual abuse allegations against Spacey. Its eight-day total will be around $14.4 million.

Awards contender “Darkest Hour,” starring Gary Oldman as the 1940 version of Winston Churchill, expanded to 943 venues in its sixth weekend and will have taken in $19.8 million by the end of the weekend. Focus reported strong performance in Washington, D.C./Maryland, Phoenix, Boston, Salt Lake City, and Florida markets.

“‘Darkest Hour’ is taking America by storm,” said distribution chief Lisa Bunnell. “We’re seeing audiences coming out in big numbers. It’s a movie they found inspiring over the holiday break and the word of mouth gives us a strong outlook for the upcoming weeks.”

Matt Damon’s comedy-drama “Downsizing” finished ninth with a projected $6 million at 2,664 sites for the four days for Paramount. The 11-day total for “Downsizing,” which carries a $65 million budget and was directed by Alexander Payne, should come in around $18.5 million.

Warner Bros.-Alcon Entertainment’s second weekend of R-rated comedy “Father Figures” rounded out the top 10 with a projected $5.5 million at 2,902 locations. The 11-day total for the Owen Wilson-Ed Helms vehicle, which has a $25 million price tag, should hit about $14 million.
