The poet and composer who has revealed Bossa Nova to the rest of the world in the 60’s has composed numerous memorable tunes that everyone can hum. His body of work has been interpreted by musicians and singers from all continents but there is something magical when Brazilian artists themselves celebrate their own. This is the case with pianist Eliane Elias who has paid tribute to Tom Jobim more than once during her career, whether with dedicated albums “Eliane Elias plays Jobim” or “Eliane Elias sings Jobim” or with the interpretation of Jobim tunes on many other albums such as “Made in Brazil” released in 2015 where the rendition of “Água de março” one of the most popular songs of Jobim is sung with conviction. This interpretation leaves you with the desire to dance and be happy, thanks to the participation of Mark Kibble and Take 6 which voices elevate this classic bossa nova to another dimension. #GeorgeBarnes was a #pioneer of the #electricguitar, a #brilliant and #influential #musician #arranger #composer #conductor #producer and perhaps the most easily #identifiable #guitarist in #musichistory. And he is my #father. This #painting was taken from a #photo of him, #smoking a #pipe stuffed with the end of his #BeringPlaza #cigar, and was used as the cover of a #posthumous #album for #ConcordJazz titled "Blues Going Up." Now, it hangs in my #DTLA #loft, where I am writing his #memoir, and producing rare offerings for #TheGeorgeBarnesLegacyCollection.
