Queen Rhaenyra Targaryen being attacked for decisions made by members of her Council is an actual thing, I realize. And its basis is 21st century misogyny found in certain “fans”.
Here are some examples:
1. B&C was orchestrated by Daemon, as retribution for the murder of Lucerys Velaryon. Daemon sent Rhaenyra a letter from Harrenhal (in the book canon, he was already there when news reached them), in which he promised her that her son would be avenged. That’s it. She was informed that Daemon would do something in retribution, but she wasn’t filled in on what.
And somehow, Rhaenyra is responsible for B&C. How? Because she didn’t stop Daemon? (As if she could). And even if she knew what he was about to do, why should she have stopped him? Her child was murdered in cold blood. The war had not yet begun. Her innocent boy was an envoy, and he was murdered while peace terms were still being considered. Rhaenyra is a mother in pain. The only thought running through her mind at the time was that her child was murdered. She didn’t give a damn about any of the “green” children. Why should she? I know I wouldn’t if I were in her place.
Rhaenyra had no knowledge of B&C and was not in any way involved, nor did she care enough to stop it. And I repeat, why should she?
2. The situation with Ladies Rosby and Stokeworth. I am super tired of hearing how Rhaenyra is “evil” because she didn’t support the ascension of other women in positions of power at the time.
First and foremost: How is that her job? Oh, that’s right. It’s not. She had her own fight against the patriarchy and her success could have paved the way for other women to be permitted a better life in the future.
Secondly, it was Corlys, Rhaenyra’s Hand, who insisted that Ladies Rosby and Stokeworth be passed over. Corlys is the one who viewed Rhaenyra as an exception to the patriarchy.
Change doesn’t happen all of a sudden. It needs to be small, like Rhaenyra’s successful ascension on the Iron Throne. Turning the Realm into “Barbie Land” overnight would have brought down the whole system, not changed it.
Rhaenyra’s decision to heed Corlys’ advice was correct. But I also think she should have followed Daemon’s advice as well and arranged marriages for the girls with Hugh Hammer and Ulf White.
In any case, this situation is not Rhaenyra’s fault, nor was it her choice. It was Corlys’, you know, the man who’s not only her Hand but who commands the Realm’s largest fleet and finances Rhaenyra’s actual war. The fact that certain TG stans believe Rhaenyra could have done whatever she wanted in this scenario and ignored Corlys’ advice proves they don’t know shit about politicking.
3. The raised taxes in King’s Landing: once again, not Rhaenyra’s idea. It was her Master of Coin, Lord Bartimos Celtigar, who came up with this solution.
And as bad as it sounds, it is the only possible solution to the crisis, because the Greens are the ones who stole all the gold from the treasury and left the Realm impoverished (something for people to chew on, when they have the nerve to claim that TG = Team Smallfolk).
Now, when it comes to Alicent, however, she is somehow the “victim” of the decisions made by the men around her.
Hypocrisy much?

A rich guy who died 17 years ago is still funding rightwing causes. The only good news is that the money runs out in 2025.
From the Ambien and Dramamine in millions of bathroom medicine cabinets, to the sugar substitute that makes diet sodas sweet, to the first-ever birth control pill, some of America’s most common medicines and supplements can be traced back to the G.D. Searle pharmaceutical company. Now, more than a century after the company’s founding, the massive family fortune built from those scientific advances has emerged as a major benefactor of the right, mostly out of the public eye. The Searle Freedom Trust, a foundation funded by the company’s former chairman, has doled out more than $200 million in grants over the last decade, sending more money to conservative nonprofits than nearly any other private foundation in recent years, according to a CNN analysis. This year, the Searle trust is poised to play an even bigger role as it empties out its coffers. Following the wishes of its founder, the late Daniel C. Searle, the trust is closing down in 2025 and planning to award most of its last major grants in 2024. That means a potential windfall during a key election year for groups that push conservative policies: as of the beginning of 2023, according to its most recent tax return, the trust had more than $59 million left to spend.
Thanks to the Republican Supreme Court, the filthy rich can shit money into the coffers of rightwing causes and candidates.
“The fact that our political system works in a way where wealthy people who died years ago can continue to have such profound influence over our politics and our beliefs about science and the world is just incredibly damaging,” said Galen Hall, a University of Michigan researcher who’s studied the flow of money from foundations like the Searle trust to climate change denial groups. “It’s one of the key aspects of American politics that makes positive change on issues like climate change so difficult.” [ ... ] The Searle trust is one of the most prolific funders of conservative groups among all private foundations, according to a CNN analysis of nonprofit tax data. From 2020 through 2022, it has given a total of more than $29 million to a selection of conservative nonprofits identified by CNN. Only one other private foundation, the Sarah Scaife Foundation, reported giving more to the groups over the same time period, based on data from hundreds of thousands of public tax filings. The analysis only included publicly reported donations, so it may be missing some foundations that donated through donor-advised funds, which help conceal the path of their money.
The billionaires and their poorer multimillionaire buddies know that liberals tend to overlook state governments. So they focus disproportionately on controlling state legislatures and passing reactionary laws. The late Daniel C. Searle was no exception.
The trust has also given more than $2.75 million to the American Legislative Exchange Council, which over the years has written cookie-cutter model legislation that has inspired conservative bills around the US – including laws that expanded the use of private prisons, restricted the ability of state pension funds to consider environmental risks when making investments, and limited local governments’ ability to restrict firearms. The Searle trust has “been a key financial driver of the development of right-wing political infrastructure,” said Brendan Fischer, the deputy executive director of the progressive watchdog group Documented. “They’ve had a pretty successful track record in areas including attacks on workers’ rights, the freedom to vote, state efforts to thwart action on climate change.”
We can no longer afford to be slackers when it comes to state politics. Increasingly we need to give extremist Republicans more pushback in state capitals.
Take more interest in legislative matters in your state. Let news outlets know you want more coverage of what legislatures are up to. Support outlets which already do provide such coverage.
And find out who exactly is representing you in the legislature. If it's MAGA Republicans who get loads of campaign contributions from billionaire sugar daddies, work for their defeat in the next state election.
Find Your Legislators Look your legislators up by address or use your current location.
This is a Substack about state politics by the idiosyncratic Carolyn Fiddler. It looks at state politics from a national and Democratic perspective. It's worth subscribing to.
This Week in Statehouse Action
It's good though it isn't a substitute for a news source for your specific state's politics.
Filthy rich rightwingers can be stopped if we get involved and remain focused. Winners in politics are not people with short attention spans.

Drew a growth and development for Cardassians chart!
Tumblr media
Cardassians are born with stripes and countershading, which started as an evolutionary adaption to protect them. Calling someone "striped" in Kardasi still carries a connotation of being young, foolish, etc. This is enforced by children's clothes traditionally being modified for continuous wear by being loose and adding strips of fabric to the the sleeves and hems until about 9, when children begin to wear clothes similar to that of adults. The pigmentation of these striped scales is a purple-brown iridescence that fades as Cardassians age, but still retains some presence (if you pay attention the dappled scales on their upper backs have a bit of purple and green in, which I choose to interpret as iridescence). Some Cardassians also have speckling or dappling patterns, usually in addition to stripes; these cluster with geographic/ancestral origin and are a normal variation.
When I refer to ridge development, I not only mean formation of scales (one baby Cardassian we see in show only has ridges over the eyebrows, not yet reaching the cheeks) but the filling out as well. The medial ridge and shoulder ridges form in the womb, but are flat until around age 9. Traditionally the growth spurt and filling of scales occurs earlier than the development of sexual characteristics (which corellate to the age of emergence, about 15 or 16), but as food access improves the latter event tends to occur earlier. The protective scaling on the outer thighs and knees is present from birth, but the individual scales are smaller and softer, hardening and growing larger in their teen years.
If you've read my notes on Hebitians I mention there's an assumption that Hebitians are short, and that it's more an issue that post-Union, Hebitians tend to be poor and have had less access to nutrition, and height corellates more with that. The jump here for the growth spurt associated with their "first season" (Cardassian term is kashmim and doesn't quite translate to season) helps give an idea of how much that matters for Cardassians-as-a-species compared to other species. This height differential doesn't really exist during the show on Cardassia, as around the time the Occupation of Bajor began, the Detapa council instituted a series of food subsidies keeping certain basic food items at a stable price over the past several decades, and changed tack in its approach to poverty and homelessness, especially with regard to children (obviously, this wasn't a net good in the case of the latter, with the experiences of those who received this type of aid being a driving factor in the dissident movement).
They start out comparatively so much smaller as an evolutionary trade off so there's a longer pregnancy, making sure they're more developed without causing every Cardassian that's ever given birth to need a c-section. An infant Cardassian is much more mobile than that of a species with a comparable adult size. However, they don't have any faster linguistic development or socialization- the trade off that meant your kid was less likely to get eaten by another apex predator now means having an extended family or the money to hire a nanny is necessary for any new parents mental stability and overall health.
The jump in height is taxing, and historically some schools have structured the curriculum to be very light around age 9, either only having half day classes or reducing the days attended. On Cardassia as it is around DS9, curriculum is structured for half days for 3 dleiha, equivalent to 360 days (Cardassian "school years" are 195 days with a 36 day break, not counting holidays or "weekly" rest days). It's characterized by excessive shedding, more sleeping, more eating, muscle cramps and aches, and bruising from the growth spurts. Around this time kids basically lay around the house with a humidifier, or take frequent trips to the sauna, and hide under a heated blanket. After this age male Cardassians are expected to remove the hair from the tips of their tails; keeping it is associated with femininity. Cardassians overall look similar regardless of sex; Cardassians idealize women being broader chested and hipped, and a bit shorter than men.

"You’ll be hearing more of this, Mr. P 34!"
Mackenzie is here referring to the poor police constable by a feature that most uniformed officers in the UK and Ireland have, namely his collar number. Although these days they tend to be known as shoulder numbers.
Permit me to demonstrate via this image:
Tumblr media
This is Police Constable C 333. His actual name is not recorded in this c.1948, but we'll call him Robert Smith, or Bobby to his friends.
The letter C represents the division of the Metropolitan Police he is assigned to. In this case, C covered the West End of London. The Met has gone through a lot of command changes over the decades - today this would be Central West Basic Command Unit and he'd have AW on his shoulders, not his collar.
These numbers allow for identification of the officer; the public would know who to compliment or complain about. There have been cases of officers policing protests not wearing these, which caused a fair amount of upset when it was reported.
If he was using a radio, he would be Charlie Three-Three-Three. Or just "Three-Three-Three" for a local chat.
If he was to sign a statement, he'd be PC Smith 333 C. He would also put that in his email signature today.
Sergeants would have three V stripes on their sleeves and now their epaulettes outside of a dress uniform situation. They would also have their numbers on their uniform.
Police Community Support Officers (civilians wearing a uniform, basically) and Special Constables (volunteer officers with full powers, but unpaid) have shoulder numbers.
Inspectors and above just have their rank insignia, no numbers.
If Bobby moved to another division, he might keep his numbers, but he would have to change his letter. He would go down to two numbers if promoted to Sergeant.
****
Outside of London, you will usually just see four numbers, with no letters.
Bobby would also have a warrant card, akin to the US police badge, which he would use in a plain clothes or off-duty situation. If he were suspended for excessive force, he would have to hand it over.
****
Now P 34 is a bit outside his area.
This is the 1888 police divisions map, also relevant for Sherlock Holmes:
Tumblr media
(Source: https://gmic.co.uk/topic/64457-metropolitan-police-divisional-areas-1888/)
The blue area represents the boundaries of the London County Council, although the City of London was excluded from that - it retains its own local government and police, who have their numbers on their sleeves today.
You can see the Whitechapel area under H and the Docklands area, plus points east under K.
The red area was the then boundaries of the Metropolitan Police District. You can see that it excluded my manor of Havering, then under the auspices of Essex Police. This went quite a way out, beyond even the modern Greater London boundaries in some places, although in 2000 it was aligned to match those. Havering was KD until recently, it is now part of EA.
As a further fun note, the MPD boundaries were also those of the coal tax area. Any coal brought within this area, which also included the City, was subject to tax until 1890, when this was abolished due to its unpopularity in the new suburbs. The boundaries were marked by obelisks or white concrete posts, many of which are still in situ, although not always easy to spot, to remind people of the tax. The railway or river transport companies usually collected this anyway.
Anyway, P Division covers the Camberwell, Lewisham area. Quite why Mackenzie has grabbed this bloke from there for this operation is a mystery. While P 34 could easily go outside his area for public order stuff, like a parade or dealing with a protest; during the miners' strike of 1984-85, Metropolitan Police officers were used in protecting those who were going into work from their striking colleagues, as well as beating up the latter.
Perhaps he was just doing it for the LOLs.
****
As a final note, police officers are also starting to wear name badges. This was somewhat controversial as some officers feared being targeted as a result.

Please talk more about your ideal epilogue. My ideal epilogue would have everyone sorta ficking around in an interdimentional style tone where they just kind of veiw alt universes and timelines like some entertaining reality show and also sollux is transfem. She's dating jade, aradia, and feferi who are dating terezi and nepeta in a sort of greater portland area transbian polycule situation.
MY ideal epilogue is this
jade leaves earth c to explore the dream bubbles, not content to be stuck in one place for eternity, and becomes sollux and aradia's third. she's always seeing new things and is never lonely
karkat becomes a public speaker and eventually a campaign manager when dave eventually runs for office; karkat himself refuses to have any sort of governmental position higher than city council but establishes himself as "the guy who knows a guy," so to speak. he's probably responsible for half the employments in the city he lives in just out of various referrals and recommendations he's made. he and aradia are intergalactic pen pals
jake and jane are partners in business but not in romance. jane agrees to merge their respective empires into the crockercorp-skaianet conglomeration, which is publically traded and centered on community service--trolls and carapaces are kind of weird about representative government, so the CS corp kind of takes the place of the legislature in terms of like. what people's tax dolars are going towards and stuff. jake is coming out of his shell a bit and makes a good check/balance for when jane gets too zealous, and jane's been good with making sure jake doesn't procrastinate or avoid his actual job. they do good work, surprisingly
rose and calliope take it upon themselves to compile a library of all surviving texts (mythological, scientific, governmental, etc) from the 5,000 year time skip period, which is an incredibly large and therefore perpetually ongoing project. jake helps them on the archaeological front but calliope especially has found her calling in archivism and anthropology and is having the time of her life
roxy and davepeta spend their time experiencing everything earthly life has to offer, soaking in everything roxy, dave and nepeta missed growing up--restaurants, dance classes, college, organized sports. roxy is very active in her community with stuff like municipal art projects and environmental efforts and enjoys the feeling of belonging somewhere. davepeta is less tied down to one place but takes up little temporary jobs wherever they find themself, finding a lot of fulfillment in helping people in small ways, even if they're strangers
john still struggles with depression, especially in the face of jade's absence and jane and jake's success, but eventually takes up a job after jane begs him. it's more for enrichment than anything else, it's not like he needs money, but he respects that jane wants to help and goes along with her promise to "set him up somewhere", which turns out to be as a consulting partner at a law firm with terezi. they get into less petty spats now that they're not thirteen anymore, and the partnership is superficially contentious but solid and functional. he doesn't hate it but he feels a bit stuck in a rut in his current life and is sort of... waiting for the other shoe to drop, so to speak
kanaya is in charge of the brooding caverns. she worries about her and rose's ability to adequately take care of their own children so she kind of compensates by becoming a daycare operator or maybe a teacher, mentoring older jadebloods to take her place some day. as the equivalent of a vampire she's very much immortal and she takes a melancholy sort of pride in watching her students grow up every generation
left to his own devices once more without any immediately obvious Goal In Life dirk's guilt over various things (both deserving and not deserving of said guilt) begins to eat him alive. egged on by jasprose, he tries in vain to return to the past; he becomes obsessed with trying to rebuild the auto-responder, coding chat bot after chat bot, intelligence after intelligence, just for one more conversation, one more apology. he never succeeds and eventually the fixation drives him to reclusive insanity
vriska (sort of a paradox space pirate, looting dream bubbles and chasing lord english) goes ultimate and dave (stockbroker turned senator, avoiding the entertainment industry out of a desire to avoid becoming his alpha self, too scared that he won't live up to the dave that exists in dirk's mind) has his villain arc. they start scheming together and their plans (which are partially really clean and elaborate and partially slapdash and stupid) eventually culminate in the complete social and economical ruin of earth c. following this they fuck off in vriska's spaceship (which is like a sort of treasure planet-esque flying galleon) to some random corner of the galaxy to have weird creepy sex until the heat death of the universe
terezi and karkat enter a failmarriage in order to stave off the creeping sense of abandonment and not being good enough for their respective partners but being together actually just makes it worse. they have sex with the lights off
john, who was expecting not this, exactly, but SOMETHING to come and break the peace, feels responsibility for dave, his errant best friend, for vriska, his one-sided lost love, and even a little bit for terezi, the work partner he's come to appreciate more than most people, and the utter upheaval of the world becomes the catalyst he needs to snap him out of his funk, at least for the time being
jake and jane scramble to use their influence to stabilize the infrastructure of the planet; karkat warns aradia, sollux and jade to keep an eye out across paradox space; roxy tracks down dirk, attempting to restore him to optimal functionality; kanaya, rose and calliope try to keep everyone in their vicinity alive and well; davepeta puts john in touch with meenah, and he and terezi take off for the dream bubbles on the tail of vriska and dave
and the rest. dear reader. well that is up to you

The office of Mayor Bruce Harrell, who has proposed giving thousands of city employees a “cost of living adjustment” significantly below the rate of inflation, sent out an email to city workers this week containing tips and tricks for spending less money.
The email, titled “Financial Self-Care,” informs employees that “Making small changes to your money mindset and habits can have an immediate impact on your financial picture.” For example, it says, city workers could get rid of subscriptions that can add $12 to $30 to their monthly costs; consolidate their debts; and “pay yourself first – set aside money for emergency funds or long-term savings every paycheck before paying bills and spending.
The council did approve a $20 million increase in the tax to pay for mental health care services at public schools, with Council President Debora Juarez joining Tammy Morales, Teresa Mosqueda, Lisa Herbold, and amendment sponsor Kshama Sawant to vote for the increase
“Pay yourself first” is a concept popularized by the “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” series of self-help books, which argues that people should put money toward investments before paying for rent, food, electric bills, and other immediate needs.
The email also advise workers—who are seeking an annual wage increase that at least keeps up with inflation, instead of a sub-inflationary increase that will amount to a significant annual pay cut—to start thinking about whether they really need the things they’re buying. “Start defining wants and needs – Ask yourself: ‘Is this a need or want?’ with each purchase, to avoid impulse buys,” the email says.

Hi Hilary! First of all, I need you to know that you have my utmost respect for how patiently and thoroughly you keep analyzing and explaining the current political clusterfuck regarding *gestures vaguely at everything*. That said, if you feel like a short break from that, I've got an entirely selfish question: if the two dudes in the fic I'm thinking of writing were very old vampires (like 1500 years or the like), what would be a good historical event for them to have vastly conflicting takes on where both viewpoints are more or less equally valid and they can have, uh, heated arguments? Sending you lots of positive vibes 💕
Thank you, my dear. Oh God, how I long for a break from All This Fucking Shit, but I suspect, unfortunately, that all the Shit will keep happening whether I want it to or not, so I have to figure out how to deal with that. On the other hand, I am MORE than happy to talk about something else, and this is an obviously delightful question.
There are a few good choices for your vampires to argue about, depending on exactly how old they are and where in the world they come from. The first possibility is the Council of Nicaea in 325 CE, which set what we recognize as Catholic Christian doctrine and formally outlawed all the other competing textual interpretations. This was the culmination of a HUGE knock-down, drag-out fight, between western and eastern theologies that tried to precisely define the relation of Jesus Christ to God the Father, whether he actually had a human body, whether he had ever actually committed a sin, whether he had ever physically died, and etc. There were countless sects and branches of various size and influence, usually named after their most prominent intellectual figure; i.e., Arianism, Marcionism, etc etc. After two hundred years of heated nerd fights, the Council of Nicaea tried to settle them in the favor of establishing a unified Christian creed (this is where we get the Nicene Creed). If your vampires are of a religious, philosophical, or particular regional bent (since certain geographic areas were more affiliated with certain strands of "heresy" than others), this is an excellent way for them to have the most bogglingly obscure technical/theological arguments known to mankind. MARCIONISM IS JUST REPACKAGED GNOSTICISM!!! yells one. INTOLERANT SANCTIMONIOUS NICENE BASTARD! yells the other. OH MY GOD, GET A ROOM AND ALSO SOME EARPLUGS FOR US, yells everyone else.
Likewise, they could also argue about Justinian and Theodora, Emperor and Empress of the Byzantine Empire in the mid-sixth century (527-65 for Justinian and 527-48 for Theodora). The Secret History by the Byzantinian historian Procopius is both wildly entertaining and shall we say, uh, colorful, and contains all kinds of sexual innuendos and slander about them, particularly Theodora. Justinian was the most influential ruler of the time, there are plenty of political events for the vampires to disagree on, angst related to losing loved ones in the Plague of Justinian, whether Theodora was a no-good scheming con woman or a powerful ambitious badass, what exactly Procopius was smoking, and so forth. They could also argue endlessly over who was really responsible for the end of the Western Roman Empire (c. 476): was it the barbarians, the bad emperors, the endless wars, the overexpansion, the taxes, the natural limits of effective control, etc.? They could also take sides on Carthage v. Rome, though Hannibal and his elephants are much earlier (3rd century BC) and the vampires, unless they're even older, would probably not have known him personally. One of them could likewise have a terrible grudge against the Goths for sacking Rome in 410, and amusingly mistakes every modern "goth" in black nail polish and a spiky collar for a Descendant of the Enemy, while the other one is like oh my god you idiot.
Anyway, if you want more options, let me know, as I am nothing if not good for generating obscure historical background context for fic. We all have to have our talents. :)

minos, king of crete and judge of the dead (asteroid 6239)
Tumblr media
Minos was the son of Zeus and the Phoenician princess, Europa. It was with Poseidon's help that he was placed on the throne in Crete. Allegedly, when his successor died the council said that a sign would be sent by the gods to determine who ruled next - so Minos prayed to Poseidon for a sign and suitable sacrifice to give the gods. Soon after a white bull emerged from the sea - this left no room for questions that Minos was the rightful ruler (that makes... total sense lol). Minos thought that the bull was better than the ones he owned so instead of sacrificing Poseidon's gift to him, Minos kept the bull and sacrificed one of his others. Poseidon was enraged by this so he turned his gift into an angry, untamable creature. Minos later married Pasiphae (daughter of Helios) who bore him many children including Ariadne. Poseidon saw Pasiphae as an opportunity; asking Aphrodite for help with the task of punishing Minos, they made Pasiphae fall in love with the bull. Whenever she approached the bull it would grow violent. Pasiphae asked the architect and inventor Daedalus for help with seducing the bull (lol Daedalus must have really just loved creating or gold because he said ya sure). Daedalus created a fake cow with a compartment for Pasiphae to lie in - she then consummated her union with the bull, creating the minotaur. The minotaur only got older and angrier, so Daedalus was again tasked with crafting something - the labyrinth. It is seen in Athenian dramas that Minos is a tyrannical leader who enjoys feeding people to the Minotaur. This was a reaction to the death of his son Androgeos - Zeus allowed Minos to place a capital tax of seven boys and seven girls from Athens every nine years to be sent to Crete as a sacrifice to the Minotaur. Minos was later killed by the daughters of King Cocalus after going to Sicily in search of Daedalus. These daughters boiled him alive. Hades appreciated his ability to judge people - it also didn't hurt that Minos was a son of Zeus - so he made Minos one of the three judges in the Underworld. IN MY OPINION Minos in your chart represents a) where god/a god may answer your wishes for an exchange, b) where there appears to be a full circle made (Zeus seduced Europa in the form of a bull, Minos got a bull as his sign, his wife was then seduced by said bull…), c) where you are greedy, d) where you are seen as abusive with power, and/or e) where you have the power to decide what happens to others.

i encourage you to look into the aspects of minos along with the sign, degree, and house placement. for the more advanced astrologers, take a look at the persona chart of minos AND/OR add the other characters involved to see how they support or impede minos!

“Many Towns Voting Today,” Border Cities Star. December 5, 1932. Page 7. ---- Three in Mayoralty Races In Ottawa And Woodstock --- TORONTO, Dec. 5. - Residents of numerous cities, towns and villages and townships of Ontario go to the polls today to elect new municipal councils for the year 1933. Lower taxes, rigid economy and balanced budgets have been popular planks, upon which the multitude of candidates have appealed to the electorate. The exceptionally large number of nominees this year has created unusual interest and new marks in polling are expected to be registered.
In the majority of the larger cities the mayoralty contest has been waged between two aspirants. Ottawa, Windsor and Woodstock have three seeking the chief magistrate's chair. Hamilton, Chatham, Kingston, Kitchener, Galt and St. Thomas will see the vote divided among two for this honor.
Brockville, believing that money that might be spent on elections could be better used for unemployment relief, returned the entire municipal slate by acclamation with Fred Wolthausen as mayor. Stratford has accorded C. I. Graff another term as mayor by acclamation.

National Hot Tea Day
The perfect time for a cup of tea is National Hot Tea Day, on January 12 every year. Tea has been in our cups since as far back as the 2nd century B.C. Originating in China, tea has grown to become the second most consumed beverage in the world, after water. This delicious blend of spices energizes, detoxifies, relaxes, and does so much more.
History of National Hot Tea Day
Tea has been consumed for almost 5,000 years. In 2737 B.C., during the Tang Dynasty, legend has it that some tea leaves fell into a pot of water that was being boiled for Chinese emperor Shen Nung. He drank the brew and found it delicious and relaxing.
In 2016, the earliest known physical evidence of tea was discovered in the mausoleum of Emperor Jing of Han in Xi’an, indicating that tea, from the genus Camellia, was drunk by Han dynasty emperors, as early as the 2nd century B.C. The Han dynasty work, “the Contract for a Youth,” written in 59 B.C., contains the first known reference to boiling tea. The first record of tea cultivation is also dated to this period, during which tea was cultivated on Meng Mountain.
Tea was first introduced to Western priests and merchants in China during the 16th century. The first recorded shipment of tea by a European nation was in 1607, when the Dutch East India Company moved a cargo of tea from Macao to Java. Tea was sold in a coffee house in London in 1657, Samuel Pepys tasted tea in 1660, and Catherine of Braganza took the tea-drinking habit to the English court when she married Charles II in 1662.
Tea smuggling during the 18th century made tea accessible to the public. The British government removed the tax on tea, thereby eliminating the smuggling trade, in 1785. The popularity of tea played a role in historical events — the Tea Act of 1773 provoked the Boston Tea Party that escalated into the American Revolution. By the late 19th century, tea had become an everyday beverage for every social society.
The Tea Council of the U.S.A. was founded in 1950, and National Hot Tea Day was created by the council in 2016.

Note
Wizard Council, I have to ask a question regarding the illegality of lichdom, mostly do other forms of immortality count, like if I keep placing my consciousness into flesh homunculus or into a golem
You seem to be under the misunderstanding that acquiring Lichdom is banned by the wizard council.
This is not the case.
A magic user must simply issue a Notice of Phylactery Creation for tax purposes and fill out Form A1-B1893-C.59(p) [filing for being an evil wizard] and file both with the council prior to completing the ascension to Lichdom.
Other requirements of immortality that do not require a Phylactery do not require notice, and may or may not require filing of form A1-B1893-C.59(p).
We advise you to read the aforementioned form.
We'd recommend golem by the way, being a flesh humunculus is to close to being what you once were, and if you do go golem ensure that you have the phrase 'Be myself and free' firmly adhered in the golems mouth during transformation process.

From 2018-2020, Brett Favre’s charitable foundation, Favre 4 Hope, which has a stated mission to support disadvantaged children and cancer patients, donated more than $130,000 to the University of Southern Mississippi Athletic Foundation during the same years that Favre was working to finance a new volleyball center at the school.
Favre, a Southern Mississippi alumnus, is embroiled in a welfare scandal — extensively reported by nonprofit watchdog Mississippi Today — in which millions of dollars earmarked for people in need were misappropriated. Favre received $1.1 million for speeches he did not make, according to a state auditor report and court documents, and was instrumental in moving more than $5 million in welfare dollars toward the building of the volleyball facility while his daughter was a player on the USM volleyball team. He is among dozens of individuals and organizations being sued by the state. Favre paid back the $1.1 million, though the state says he still owes $228,000 in interest. He has not been charged with wrongdoing and posted on social media that he did not know where the funding for the volleyball facility came from.
In the same years Favre was soliciting money to build the volleyball facility, his charitable foundation, which received public donations, significantly increased its contributions to USM’s athletic fundraising arm. Tax records show that Favre 4 Hope gave the USM Athletic Foundation $60,000 in 2018, when no other charity received more than $10,000. The next year, it gave $46,817; the next highest gift, to the Special Olympics of Mississippi, was $11,000. In 2020, Favre 4 Hope sent USM’s Athletic Foundation $26,175; no other organization received more than $10,000.
Tax records also show that in 2015, when Favre’s daughter was a volleyball player at Oak Grove High in Hattiesburg, the Favre 4 Hope foundation donated $60,000 to that school’s booster club, the largest grant made by Favre 4 Hope that year. The Oak Grove Booster Club subsequently granted $60,349 to the high school with the stated purpose being: “assist to build athletic facility.”
While the tax documents don’t disclose any potential conditions Favre 4 Hope may have placed on the grants to the USM Athletic Foundation or the Oak Grove Booster Club, experts were skeptical that those donations aligned with Favre 4 Hope’s stated mission to support “charitable organizations whose focus is to provide support for disadvantaged children” and “nonprofits that provide assistance to breast cancer patients.”
“You can’t say you’re raising money for one purpose and then spend it on something totally different. Charities have an ethical obligation, and in some cases a legal obligation, to fulfill the intentions of its donors in the way funds are spent,” said Laurie Styron, executive director of CharityWatch.
“There’s the letter of the law, there’s the spirit of the law and it’s something where it would probably be tough to make a legal case but it still doesn’t look good,” said Rick Cohen, Chief Operating Officer of the National Council of Nonprofits. “It isn’t unheard of for a nonprofit to expand its mission or change its mission over time if they find they need to redirect. That does not seem to be the case here.”
Favre’s attorney declined to comment as did Favre’s NFL agent, Bus Cook, who is listed as one of Favre 4 Hope’s directors on tax documents. The Athletic attempted to contact six others listed as directors on Favre 4 Hope tax filings. Those individuals either declined to comment or didn’t respond to interview requests.
The Athletic sent emails and left voice messages seeking comment from Christi Holloway, the CFO of the USM Athletic Foundation, and Jeremy McClain, USM’s athletic director, who on 2020 tax filings was listed as the foundation’s CEO. Those requests for comment went unanswered. USM’s communications office also did not respond to interview requests.
Favre and his wife, Deanna, started Favre 4 Hope — initially called the Brett L. Favre Foundation — in 1995, his fourth season as Green Bay’s starting quarterback. The Favres directed the foundation’s money to charities such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of Green Bay and Gulfport, Miss., and Gaits To Success, an equine therapy program in Favre’s hometown of Kiln, Miss.
They raised money by hosting annual events: golf tournaments, dinners and auctions in Green Bay and a celebrity softball game, which drew a crowd of 8,500 fans in Appleton, Wis. in 2005. In the foundation’s first decade, it donated small amounts to a long list of charities. Forty-four organizations received grants in 2007, including 19 for $5,000 or less. Starting in 2009, the list of charities never topped 14 and the size of the donations grew.
Deanna Favre was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004. A year later, she launched her own charity, the Deanna Favre Hope Foundation. That year, the Appleton Post-Crescent reported she sold 210,000 pink Packers “G” logo baseball hats to raise over $1 million for breast cancer research.
On Jan.1, 2010, the Favres merged their two charities, creating Favre 4 Hope. Deanna’s foundation, which focused on helping underprivileged or uninsured women get preventative breast cancer screenings, added $632,713 to the collective pot, pushing Favre 4 Hope’s revenue to $1,767,864 in 2010. The mission statement of the joint foundation was amended to add Deanna’s cause, breast cancer patients, and to include Minnesota as an area of focus as Favre played his final two NFL seasons (2009-10) for the Vikings.
From 2001 (the first year that the foundation’s tax forms are publicly available) to 2020, Favre 4 Hope gave $5,492,721 in grants, averaging $274,636 in donations per year.
“One of the things I am most proud of about all the things I have been able to achieve is being able to give away so much money and help so many people with Favre 4 Hope,” Favre told the Associated Press in 2020. “Special Olympics, Cystic Fibrosis, Make-A-Wish Foundation, a big chunk of money to the Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis, to St. Jude and to Ronald McDonald House.”
In 2014, when his daughter Breleigh was a promising sophomore on the Oak Grove High varsity team, Favre led the charge for a new volleyball facility at the school. At the Oak Grove Booster Club board meeting on Nov. 18, 2014, Favre told the board he had donors lined up to help pay for the facility and that he had spoken to then-USM athletic director Bill McGillis about hosting a college volleyball tournament at the building in 2015. He encouraged board members to seek out additional donors and passed out fundraising brochures.
When the Lamar County School Board passed the $1 million project in 2015, Brett and Deanna Favre were reported to be among the community members sponsoring the facility. Fundraising and donations were funneled through the Oak Grove Boosters Club, designated as the official pass-through vehicle for the project, according to court documents.
The donation of $60,000 to the Oak Grove Booster Club in 2015 was the largest grant Favre 4 Hope made that year. (In 2015, Favre 4 Hope also granted $12,500 to the USM Athletic Foundation). The listed purpose for both grants on Favre 4 Hope tax forms was “education.”
The first phase of the 14,960 square foot volleyball facility at Oak Grove High opened in 2015 and Brett and Deanna’s role in helping make it happen was widely lauded.
“They contacted Mike Rozier, a local builder, and it really grew from there,” Tess Smith, the Lamar County superintendent of education, told the Lamar Times. She added: “I just don’t know if, during my tenure, anyone else will walk in the door and say, ‘We’re going to build a million-dollar building and give it to (the district).’ How often does that happen?”
In 2017, as Breleigh Favre began her college career at USM, Favre began meeting with school officials about building a new volleyball facility there.
According to court filings, Favre eventually connected with Nancy New, a USM alumnus who served on the school’s athletic foundation board from 2014-18, according to tax documents. She also headed up the nonprofit Mississippi Community Education Center, which distributed millions of federal dollars from the Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program to local organizations.
Between Nov. 6 and Dec. 5, 2017, New’s nonprofit made two lump-sum payments totaling a combined $5 million to the USM Athletic Foundation, according to the state auditor’s report. That same month, Favre received his first payment – $500,000 – as part of an advertising agreement with the state’s welfare program, Families First, made with the understanding that the funds would go toward the volleyball facility.
“If you were to pay me,” Favre texted New in 2017, according to court documents, “is there anyway (sic) the media can find out where it came from and how much?”
In June 2018, ground broke on the volleyball facility – called “The Wellness Center” – which came with a projected cost of $6 million. That same month, Favre received a second payment from New — $600,000 — as part of the advertising agreement to help fund the project. And after making donations to the USM Athletics Foundation averaging $11,125 the previous four years, Favre’s charity donated $60,000.
Favre was in communication with key officials, according to reporting from Mississippi Today, lobbying New, then-Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant and then-USM President Dr. Rodney Bennett for increased funding and workarounds involving construction costs. Favre even texted Bryant in 2018 suggesting prison labor to help construct lockers for the facility.
By 2019, when Favre 4 Hope donated $46,817 to the USM Athletics Foundation, Favre was also working his contacts at Prevacus, a biotech company in which he was reportedly an early investor, to help advance his construction aim.
“I’ve asked Brett not to do the things he’s doing to seek funding from state agencies and the legislature for the volleyball facility,” Bennett wrote to Bryant in January 2020, according to court filings. “I will see for the ‘umpteenth time’ if we can get him to stand down.
“The bottom line is he personally guaranteed the project, and on his word and handshake we proceeded. It’s time for him to pay up — it really is just that simple.”
“That’s was my thoughts (sic),” Bryant responded. “Maybe he wants the State to pay off his promises. Like all of us I like Brett. He is a legend but he has to understand what a pledge means. I have tried many time(s) to explain that to him.”
A month later, Mississippi state auditor Shad White arrested New and former Mississippi Department of Human Services executive director John Davis, among others, alleging a conspiracy to steal welfare funds. New has pleaded guilty to federal wire fraud charges and to state charges on fraud, bribery and racketeering. Earlier this month, Davis was sentenced to 32 years in state prison after pleading guilty on 20 federal and state charges of conspiracy and fraud.
Favre has talked several times about his foundation and how proud he is of the benefits it has brought others.
“It would be a shame if people who can help don’t help,” he told the AP in 2020. “By no means are we perfect, but we do try to give back.”
