When Americans joke about 9/11, we aren't joking about the real people that died that day. We're joking about the fact that America treats 9/11 like the most tragic act of terrorism that's happened in the United States while they continue to commit their own acts of terrorism on their own people & the rest of the world. To them, there is nothing wrong with the millions they've killed in other countries, the thousands of children killed in school shootings, the millions of deaths caused by poverty, rampant murder & violence from the police, or any kind of state-sanctioned violence, yet we must continue to endlessly mourn for the 2,996 that died on 9/11. They take everyone else's lives as a joke. It's a play on their own intentions. Don't come at us with that "but people died!!!" bullshit.

Eta: muslims/middle eastern people and almost all POC were affected more by 9/11 than anyone else and I retract that statement about making jokes about it

Halloween prompts no. 2

After things go horribly wrong and the GIW established militant law in Amity they manage to track Danny and Daniel down. Weakened and cornered, they're forced to fight. They win in the end of course, but while Danny was trying to help Dani get through the ghost proof fence a shot rang out and Dani watched her big brother fall to the ground.

In denial, she dragged him through the hole they created and flew them to safety, muttering words of encouragement the whole time. She didn't know how long she flew or where she was, but she found herself confronted by a man in a red helmet and leather jacket, talking to her in that voice you use for scared children, asking if she was okay.

"Please help him!" She begged, tears in her eyes, "He's hurt, please save him!"

Red Hood glanced at the older boy she had been carrying around. The one who created the blood trail he had followed from the freaking hole in his head. He examined the gunshot wound and the boys half lidden glassy eyes. Kid was gone. Probably for a while now. He turned back to the girl, looking at her desperate face and not really knowing what to say.

Fuck. Looks like he has a new sister.

"I think I know someone who can help." Bruce had an adoption problem, and this girl needed a little more help than he could provide.

Step Four: The Prey Has Backup.

the Joker had planned for Ellie. he’s taken a hostage, gotten her to comply to his demands, and now that she’s here, he can finally pick apart her brain and figure out just what it is that makes her so special. what he didn’t plan for, however, was the pissed-off psychic ghost following her around.

Ace finally has a friend, one that understands her and listens to her and cares, and she’s not going to let the fucking Joker ruin that. it doesn’t take much effort to warp the Joker’s perception and make him think he’s still holding the hostage even as the man wriggles out of his grip. it’s even easier to reach into his head and show him a scene of Ellie running away, going in the exact opposite direction that she’s really in. after all, it’s not the first time Ace has messed with the Joker’s head, but she’s hoping it’ll be the last.

but it’s not the first time the Joker’s experienced this, either. he may not know the source, thinking it’s Ellie — perhaps this is part of the power she used to escape him before. he isn’t trusting what he sees, knowing that it doesn’t line up, but when he hears Ellie’s footsteps to his left? he raises his gun, and pulls the trigger.

and Ellie, powers still wonky from the portal, only fourteen, wholly unprepared for an actual goddamn bullet to come hurtling at her, isn’t able to turn intangible quickly enough to avoid it.

it hits her square in the side and she stumbles back, and Ace is right next to her, hovering and worried, but Ace can’t help here. she didn’t bring her whole self through a portal from the Ghost Zone and so she doesn’t have the same tangibility that the ghosts in Amity Park did. she’s still caught behind the veil, only able to reach through with a fraction of her spirit. without Ace’s help, Ellie can do nothing but run, taking advantage of the Joker’s momentary celebration to grab the fleeing hostage, turn them both invisible, and run.

When I went to look up this palette, for a second I thought that the label was attached to the one right below it (#22, Winter in the Dark) which also looked like it would be cool for Dani! So when I finished this I made a copy and recolored it with that one just to see what it would look like. This one's a bit less clean because I didn't fix the occasional artifact at the edges of the fill tool, but here's a bonus funky purplish Dani:

I wanna know your thoughts on why reg joined the death eaters and the relationship he had with them

hayati did i tell you already that i love you <3 anyway you've broken a dam so here is the official dissertation. TLDR first to lure you in and then more details under the cut.

Main narrative points in this essay:

The older gen of Blacks who went to school with Riddle were not supportive of the Death Eaters;

Regulus took the Mark out of his own volition;

The Death Eaters do not operate as a systematic regime like the Nazis (contrary to popular misconception), but rather as a typical religious terror organisation

When Regulus took the Mark, he was operating under several factors of pressure that pushed him to it:

him being a gullible impressionable 16yo like all boys are at this age;

a natural desire for power;

the DEs tactics of fear and intimidation;

all the important people in his life (who did not leave) joining them (Bella, his school friends, Lucius > so essentially Narcissa); And most importantly:

Sirius' disinheritance leaving him in a position of the main and only male heir of the house aka the man who is supposed to protect the family, which, with the combination of factors at hand (the DEs terror tactics and the Blacks' status in Wizarding society that essentially determined their side in the war for them), could only be done by joining the Death Eaters

The older gen of Blacks who went to school with Riddle were not supportive of the Death Eaters: This is something Sirius himself mentions repeatedly. While he has no motive or desire to defend his parents, he states that they were not Death Eaters. Walburga and Co. all went to school with Riddle, they knew him as a half-blood orphan and an arrogant wanna-be dark wizard who they probably looked down on for his status. They were never part of the original DE gang (the Knights of Walpurgis). They could not afford to vocally oppose Voldemort due to their status as part of the Sacred 28 (re: social pressure), but I really, really doubt any of the older Blacks supported Bella and Reg joining the DEs.

Hence, the conclusion is that Regulus took the Mark out of his own volition, not out of pressure from his parents. (i recently talked about it here, here and here)

The Death Eaters do not operate as a systematic regime like the Nazis, but rather as a typical religious terror organisation: (talked about this in detail here) the DEs' pattern which we keep seeing all throughout the books and especially HBP + DH is by-the-book typical terror organisation behavior.

The main different is that a systematic regime (like the Nazis) acts by spreading propaganda first, bringing up an idea, brainwashing the population, then using said people to fight their war. It's an ideological war, the Nazis genuinely believed that the Jews are an inferior race.

Voldemort is not a parallel to Hitler, saying that is just misunderstanding how bad the Nazi regime really was. He does not believe that. He's a half-blood himself, he has no issue with people like Snape, he could NOT care less about the cause. He uses it in order to promote his own personal agenda, which in this case is immortality as a parallel to wealth. He is the CEO of Taliban.

The DEs, as a terror organisation, latch onto an existing bigotry in the Wizarding World, then abuse it and use it in order to establish themselves within pure-blooded circles and lure people in said community to join them using tactics of intimidation and terror (see: the Malfoys in HBP and DH. He forces himself onto them, their house, their son - it is very clear that they are not doing it out of free will, rather than fear of what might happen to them if they don't cooperate).

Okay, Dani, what does any of this have to do with Regulus taking the Mark?

Regulus is sixteen. Unlike his brother, he is shoved into a House which is essentially an echo-chamber of the same ideology he grew up with. All his friends are other members of the S28, none of whom challenge any of his views. He is young and impressionable like all boys his age, and he has a natural desire for power and control, especially coming from a house with parents like Walburga and Orion, that leave very little freedom and control to their children.

Sirius and Andromeda leave. Bellatrix joins the DEs and Narcissa marries Malfoy, who later joins them as well (altho they do it for different reasons - Bella is seeking power and control, while Malfoy seeks protection for his family. For Regulus, it's a combination of both), so in his 16 yo brain, what registers is: okay, these are my two options. I have to either be a traitor (and lose any money and respect I had), or join a terror cult (gaining power and protection). The choice is pretty simple in his head.

Now, these are my speculations at this point, but judging by the way Voldemort treats the Malfoys in HBP+DH, it is easy to assume that upon recruitment, any pure-blooded family that refused to provide support would suffer some sort of consequences.

On top of all that, Sirius leaves +/- 1 year before Regulus canonically takes the Mark. This comes as a surprise and leaves Regulus with a lot of responsibility and baggage that he was never prepared for.

He is now the only remaining male heir of the House - it means not only that he is now single-handedly responsible for the lineage's survival, he is also the "provider" and the "protector" of the family - his wrong choices will bear consequences and punishment not only for him, but for his parents and cousins. He can not allow himself to fuck up.

The whole Marc-Pecco incident is so funny when you hear it with the interview that gave in Parc Fermé to DAZN. Because Marc is “I move to not disturbe him” and Pecco just actually says “ well I was at 360 Km/H and even if he is out of my line he was disturbing me (like no rider shouldn’t be on track when I was there)”.

And the cherry on top, Marc saying that Pecco shooting and getting mad with him is what made him actually be a little shit.
