I'm going to be super unoriginal, but Eight for the ask thing. 😁 Or Charley if someone's already asked about Eight or if you want to complete it for both of them.

Ahhh thanks for asking!! Not unoriginal at all, I’m delighted to be enabled in my current obsession. I will of course be doing both!

Okay so let’s start with Eight.

Favourite thing about them

The sheer joy he sometimes shows while exploring the universe with his companions. It’s just so wonderful. And of course it makes it all the more painful when he is at his most dark and/or driven only to despair.

Least favourite thing about them

Sometimes he comes across as a bit uncaring (or maybe dangerously scatterbrained is a better description) regarding his companions. Might just be the writers messing up but sometimes I’m screaming at him to show more concern about the fact Charley is missing or more relief that Liv and Helen are safe in one piece.

Favourite line

Probably “I love humans, always seeing patterns in things which aren’t there” but honourable mentions must go to “ChArlOTte PoLarD” (you know the one) from Seasons of Fear and the whole of his ‘birthday’ scene in Stranded 4 😭

BrOTP

Him and Molly from Dark Eyes! Him and Izzy from the comics! Also my love for him and Lucie is increasing every day.

OTP

I don’t think I have one?? Controversial maybe but I am kind of against the Doctor ever *really* being with anyone. I think Eight deeply loves all of his companions (in various different ways) though.

But also River. They’re just a really fun couple, what can I say. I wish they could actually meet properly 😅

Random headcanon

I refuse to believe he keeps the same fancy dress costume as his main set of clothes for so many years! Although I suppose he maybe wouldn’t care, I like to think he hung around with Wilde and other Victorian aesthetes and picked up some practically identical but better tailored period accurate stuff as soon as he realised he wanted to keep the look.

Unpopular opinion

I mean… he’s now had so many adventures and so many companions it’s almost ridiculous. Doesn’t this have to stop somewhere? Shouldn’t it be soon?

Song I associate with them

After Dark by Mr.Kitty because of an edit I saw a long time ago which used it and which I loved. It just vibes right with him idk.

Moving on to Charley…

Favourite thing about them

She’s so funny and sarcastic sometimes, I adore her for that. Also, I love how she’s so brave but still regularly terrified, because those two things can and should be shown to coexist within characters’ emotions more.

Least favourite thing about them

It’s completely understandable and good character development, but she gets a bit too full of herself in Zagreus and a bit too whiny and entitled in Scherzo for me.

Favourite line

Sticking with my love of Charley’s humour, it’s “I am deeply cheered (sarc)” but if we’re looking for something more serious, I love the whole section at the beginning of Neverland where she calls out the Doctor and says she wants to face the reason the time lords are chasing them around: “Time to stop dreaming Doctor, and grow up.”

Her and the Doctor, but I’m not sure this counts because while I love them sm together, like with every companion/Doctor relationship I want it to remain relatively doomed.

Random headcanon

Keeping with the tradition of ‘this is a favourite character so I’m going to hc them to be more like me’ I think she’s demisexual! But I do think there’s enough evidence in the audios to suggest this, I’m not entirely projecting in vain.

Probably my above mentioned lack of sympathy for her at some points in Zagreus and Scherzo.

Until Morning by Kate Rusby gives me some serious Charley (and Eight) in Scherzo vibes.

You’ll note I have left this question until now for both of them and that is because rather than choosing a random big finish pic I like or something from the movie for Eight, I’d rather just send heaps and heaps of love towards @johannesviii because their art of Eight and Charley (along with many other characters and things too) is insanely amazing and has hugely influenced how I view the audio world of these early adventures (in a VERY good way)

A/N: of course, this sounds so cute, I'll do my best 💛

And they were Roommates~

Quackity scrolled on his phone, staring as the clip circled around Twitter, tagging Quackity in every post, making his laugh at some of the captions and edits, even if it was only one clip, of course, they didn't know your name or anything about you but they did get creative with it.

The one that made him and you laugh the most was the 'and they were roommates' meme that was circling the internet. He looked up from his phone with a chuckle, showing you his phone from across the couch.

"Look at this." He laughed, playing the short edit which made them both laugh happily.

"Omg, damn, guess I'll be a hot topic for a while." You laugh, running hand through your hair causing Quackity to bite his lip as a faint blush dusts his cheeks.

"Yeah, don't get a big head about it." Quackity rolls his eyes with a smile. "Besides, by time of my next stream you'll be old news."

"Yeah?" You asked with a raised brow. "How much you wanna bet on it?" Quackity pauses for a moment before a smile tugs at his lips.

"Alright, fine, if you win, I'll let you on another stream, but when I win, you have to sit back and watch whatever movie I pick."

"You won't win-"

"I will."

"But you won't-"

"Shut up."

"Chat! Shut up, I'm trying to win a bet here!" Quackity screamed into his mic, slamming his hands down on the table, his phone made a small buzz, he looked down for only a second but he knew it was you.

"See chat! The fucker is getting cocky!" He sighed, picking up his phone, turning it off completely. "No, nope, not happening, I'm banning him from my chat, nope, no, not happening."

"Hey! What the fuck!?" Your voice could be heard through his walls, causing Quackity to laugh and fall off his chair with a loud thud. "Did you fall off your chair, you dumbass!?" You yelled again, walking into his room, just off camera. "What is wrong with you!? Here, let me help you up."

Quackity groaned, reaching out for your hand, helping him stand, stumbling only a bit. "This doesn't mean I'm not unbanning you from my chat."

"Yeah, I know, I know." You roll your eyes, moving to read his chat with a chuckle. "You're chat is so funny."

"Do not encourage them."

"What a bunch of little cuties."

"Y/N-"

"What? I'm not doing anything." You said with a shrug, still reading through the chat with a smile on your face. "Do I win?" You asked, looking back at Quackity.

He simply huffs and crosses his arms, falling back on his chair. "Go fuck yourself." You chuckle.

"Are you reading this shit, they want us to kiss!" You laugh, turning around to face Quackity and his rolling eyes before staring back at you with confusion before his face falls and shoulders slump.

"No...Y/N...don't you fucking dare..." Quackity warns with narrow eyes before his arms outstretched to stop you as you lean towards him, your arms also outstretched to hold him. "Y/N! You bitch! Don't you fucking dare!"

"Oh, but Quackiy..." You tease, laughing happily. "Come on! Give me a little kiss!" You laugh and pucker your lips, Quackity pushing you away with little playful effort.

"Piss off!" He laughed, pushing you away.

"But what about chat-"

"Fuck chat! Stop encouraging each other!"

blue ( @wastelandbabyblue ) is literally one of the coolest people i've ever known while also being one of the kindest and funniest. id literally kill to meet her one day in person. i still keep up with brenda and several others i met in her og discord, some of which are the only remaining 1d fandom blogs i still follow here - they are so kind and funny and i still talk to them occasionally in a fandom discord i stayed in because i didn't want to lose touch with them.

i met 8 of who i would consider my closest friends in the whole world through fandom. through the most insane wild and unruly fandom discord drama, i literally located my found family: wedo, nino, iza, katja, olia, hanis, chloe, and su

we talk everyday still even though we live all over the world and we talk about nearly everything except fandom nowadays and they've helped me survive living day to day through some of the worst moments of my life. i don't know what i'd do if i didn't have them in my life

last night, i had a bit of a shame spiral thinking about all the time energy money i devoted to the 1d fandom. i felt embarrassed for being so loud about something that ended in so much disappointment. it wasn't fun and i know it was probably triggered by being involved in some discussions i hadn't been in so long

so when i opened this ask, anon, it reminded me so much that whatever was lost from that time, so much more was gained. the embarrassment of remembering dancing around like a fool with a rainbow flag for someone who couldn't even say something as simple as "look at all those colors" pales in comparison to the lifelong friendship i gained with these 8 beautiful women all across the globe

nothing will ever compare to the people i met and the way they feel closer to family than any of my blood ever felt

Generally a quiet person who keeps to themself, she finds the beauty in everything, even the grotesque. Cassiopeia: Like a subtle spritz of jasmine perfume, just enough to notice but not to overwhelm. After a tenday she… still smells exactly the same, since she uses prestidigitation with impunity. No need to show any flaws when you can hide it all with magic!

Rin: Like grass and the faintest whiff of decay. After a tenday add some stale sweat, mud, and the metallic tinge of old blood.

what would their blood taste like to vampires?

Cassiopeia: Sweet and rich after a lifetime of good meals, with an aftermath of something tingly from her Wild Magic.

Rin: Her healthy lifestyle leaves her blood clear and refreshing, with an imperceptible fungal bitterness if she’s forgotten to dismiss her Spore form.

how would they kiss their LI?

Cassiopeia: In public? Proper and sweet little pecks. 😌 In private? She gets Bitey 😈

Rin: Whether in public or in private, she kisses the exact same way: arms around Astarion’s neck, eyes closed, with all her focus.

how do they sleep with their LI (what position, does one steal the blankets, is one too hot/cold, etc)?

Cassiopeia: She actually plonks down and falls into the Elf Trance pretty easily, so both she and Astarion are usually side by side in that meditation pose like weirdos 😂 Sometimes Astarion spoons her from behind in his sleep tho. She doesn’t mind.

Rin: Oh, she doesn’t sleep 🙃 Too dangerous. When she’s too exhausted to resist she basically curls into a tense tiny ball of a fetal position. She usually asks Astarion to watch over her in case she "sleepwalks" again, so he’s gotten into the habit of keeping a hand on her back.

what does their tent area look like? where do they prefer to pitch their tent (next to water, covered on three sides, etc)?

Cassiopeia: Always sets her tent by the shade. Sorry, did I say sets her tent? I meant her Mage Hands set her tent (she gets two cause she’s a sorcerer, Gale, and if that’s not proof sorcerers are the superior class she doesn’t know what IS.) She keeps the materials light and breezy, since she can always use her magic to warm the inside up if she needs to.

Rin: Under a tree OR next to a boulder OR under a tree and surrounded by boulders. The more closed-in and cozier the better. Also she genuinely doesn’t mind mud, so she might volunteer for the spot if no one else wants it.

if they had a set of dnd dice, what would they look like?

Cassiopeia: oooh this is a fun question 👀 I’d say her colour scheme is light blue ooor white/gold, so she gets a custom set made of lapis lazuli, and an opal one as back-up. All made with real gemstones, of course.

Rin: A set made of wood. She carved it herself!

do they collect anything (gems, bottles, keys, etc)?

Cassiopeia: No. Collecting things is for children.

Rin: She likes picking up cool rocks :) hasn’t had the time to look for any lately tho :(

Cassiopeia: Ooooh definitely in the Gale’n’Astarion club. She waits for Gale to finish his verbal analysis essay only to respond with “I disagree.” She offers no further comment. Also she and Astarion like to make fun of any character making stupid decisions… according to them, of course.

Rin: She doesn’t actually like to read lol. She knows how to, she just… doesn’t really find it that fun, and it makes her head hurt if she reads too long. She doesn’t mind if someone reads out loud to her tho, and Wyll is usually the only willing to do it, so… trashy romance education, here we go!

if they had to be put in a “get along shirt” with a companion, who would it be?

Cassiopeia: It’s got to be Gale lol. Though really, he’s the one getting all up in a huff when Cassiopeia is surprised human wizards are actually good at magic. She’s chill. She’s not even picking a fight, she’s just stating that humans study magic for less time than elves so naturally they’re worse at being a wizard. That’s just common sense!

Rin: No one really. She’s too sad and quiet to pick arguments.

do they prefer speak with dead or speak with animals?

Cassiopeia: Speak With Dead baybeee 😎😎 She looks super cool doing it. Also fuck them dead people, they’ve got no rights.

Rin: As a druid she’s more or less obligated to cast Speak With Animals from the moment she wakes up. Just in case!!

Cassiopeia: Pathetic. Unfunny. Food for the uncultured masses. If all clowns died out overnight nothing of value would be lost.

Rin: Clowns are fun! :) It’s always nice to bring some joy and laughter into the world.

Cassiopeia: “Okay but how rich do you really think she is?? Like patriar rich? Richer?? Also do you think she’s killed any of her servants. Like she seems the type to blast one with magic when displeased. Okay place your bets on how many servants she’s killed, starting bet is 500gp.”

Rin: “Hey, are they… okay…? They doesn’t look okay. 😐 I'm pretty sure they cried themself to sleep last night.”

what makes them laugh? what does their laugh sound like?

Cassiopeia: Astarion’s mean comments never fail to make her laugh. She has a restrained and surprisingly low laugh, coyly covering her mouth out of habit even when she’s in private.

Rin: She doesn’t have much to laugh about these days, but when something does surprise a laugh out of her it’s always full-bodied and earnest, making her eyes crinkle.

do they have any inside jokes among their companions?

Cassiopeia: She and Astarion share Looks ™ when the rest of the team is being too goody-goody. Also when they’re mocking an npc without bothering to open their mouths. Tadpole-to-tadpole communication baby!

Rin: She’s a bit too stressed with all the amnesia and accidental killing to make any jokes, inside or otherwise.

what’s the description of their camp clothes in the inventory menu?

Cassiopeia: Expensive, silky garments, tailor-made. The quality is unimpeachable. Might not be the best idea to traverse the wilderness in them, though.

Rin: Rough but sturdy homespun clothes. These were build to last. Ignore the suspiciously blood-like stain, that’s just spore residue. Probably.

what’s the description of their underwear in the inventory menu?

Cassiopeia: The only thing smoother than this satin is the skin underneath it. For a classy, intimate night out.

Rin: Utilitarian but comfortable. A small R is hand-stitched at the back.

how do they celebrate their birthday?

Cassiopeia: Throws a huge and lavish full-day party with hundreds of guests at her mansion, with paid entertainment and vast amounts of alcohol. She swans around in her Designer Clothes (Faerun Edition) for like an hour before she fucks off somewhere private to do the fun drugs. And maybe bang someone. It’s her birthday, after all.

Rin: She doesn’t actually know when her birthday is 🙃 And even if she did the rest of her Circle wouldn’t really care.

what modern day tv show would they binge over a weekend? do they get their LI to watch with them?

Cassiopeia: askjdh okay I think she’d binge Succession and COMPLETELY miss the entire point of it 😂😂 Logan is like legit her favourite character and she hates the kids, she finds them annoying and frustrating. Like, just stop failing!! Just be smart and competent, and then your dad will love you! How hard can it be, jesus!

Rin: oh man her life is so sad that I think she’d curl up in bed and watch a sitcom like a zombie all day long. The mun of this blog is shipping trash. I'm not only here for ships, but I'm not going to lie, I'm like... 75% here for ships. It's my RP experience and I make no apologies.

Ships are chemistry based and must be discussed beforehand. I will never force a ship or assume you're interested in one even if A ) our muses are together canonically or B ) I have our muses listed as a fave ship. Please don't assume or force a ship on me, either.

I fully expected all my first lines to be rambling run-on sentences. I'm pleasantly surprised that they're mostly short; dare I even say, punchy. 😜 4/10 starting sentences had under 6 words; the remaining had nary a single semi-colon.

6/10 did not immediately reveal the narrator.

Only 3/10 started with dialogue. It would be interesting to do the last sentence version of this because I'm sure I almost always end a scene with speech/dialogue.

Does anyone else see other patterns?

(yet another) rant: Please stop with the frivolous Trigger Warnings

(Note: If you want to skip the recipe blog intro and get to the actual important stuff, scroll down to the header that says, "Which Warning to Use on Your Post")

Sooo I made a text post that had a few words in capital letters mixed in for effect (the rest of the text was in standard formatting). Someone reblogged it with the tags "tw: all caps" and "tw: capital letters."

The existence of these tags, specifically in the form of a trigger warning, struck me as weird. I mean, I can see why someone might be uncomfortable with an all-caps text block, if they've dealt with abusive/angry capslocked emails or something, and I can see how large blocks of capitalized text could be difficult to read, and some users might prefer to avoid them. But...

Limited capitalization as emphasis (e.g. dropping OH WAIT in the middle of otherwise lower-case text to indicate a shift in tone) does not present the same issues as a solid block of capslocked text;

I have not encountered this tag in the plethora of posts that employ the meme/joke format of subverting standard case usage or alternating case (yes, the SpongeBob meme is a thing with an actual academic definition, and it also predates the existence of SpongeBob by some decades); and

Most importantly, while formatting definitely affects user experience and can be worth tagging for that reason, I wouldn't have escalated it to the level of a trigger, which is a term with a pretty specific definition:

The concept of ‘triggering’ describes the re-experiencing of unpleasant PTSD symptoms such as intrusive thoughts being evoked by exposure to materials which spark traumatic memories. Hence, content warnings have a long presence in psychiatric literature. [source: Typology of content warnings and trigger warnings: Systematic review]

(Full disclosure for anyone who hasn't already learned from reading my rants: I have a background in behavior science, so I'm all about scientific definitions and correct application of same.)

But I thought that maybe I was misinterpreting what was being tagged, and I like learning what I should tag in future posts, so I thought I'd look deeper into those tags and see if I was missing something.

Welp. It sure was educational.

Turns out there are established "trigger warnings" on Tumblr for all of the following (not a comprehensive list; these are just the ones I also saw when scrolling through the caps tags, since many of those posts had more than one thing tagged):

any text with two or more capital letters in sequence

any text in italics

any text underlined

any text in boldface

any text in a font other than the default

any text in a color other than the default (as well as tags for each individual color)

images in black and white

images in color (how dare color exist)

images with... subjectively brighter? colors

images without ALT text

posts containing emoji

and my favorite entry, which for obvious reasons I can't describe by the content it's supposedly protecting us from:

"tw just in case"

So... where to even begin.

I guess I'll get the promised rant out of the way (for those of you who prefer to stay positive, skip ahead two paragraphs): It's no wonder that much of society mocks the very concept of trigger warnings, when they're used this... I have to come right out and say frivolously. Heck, even I'm having trouble taking the greater Tumblr community seriously right in this moment, and I've been part of it for *mumble* years and practically live here. Who in the academic/corporate/entertainment/quote-unquote real world is going to honor a request for content warnings when they see that the """kids these days""" consider italicized text a psychological trigger they need to be protected from? And you can just imagine some dudebro saying, "Wow, these special snowflakes are so fragile they're even traumatized by seeing color, lulz. We should see what really freaks them out!" ...and that won't end well.

The obvious rebuttal to that point is to argue that these tags aren't intended for use by the outside world, most of which already thinks Tumblr died years ago. Not that this has ever stopped Twitter and Reddit and Facebook users from screenshotting Tumblr posts to claim ownership of mock before, but honestly the extra-Tumblr world is the less important concern here, so I won't labor that point. The more immediate issue is how this affects Tumblr users, the Tumblr community, and the experience we're all so proud of being able to curate for ourselves.

The critical point is this: Tags exist for Tumblr users to find things of interest and avoid things they don't want to see. Warnings exist for Tumblr users to protect themselves. Conflating the two can cause not only confusion, but the opposite of the desired effect of being able to curate your experience.

Please note that it is not wrong to tag any of the things listed above. By all means, tag everything in your post! Tag away! Tag your text formatting and images and colors! Use that whole tag space so people can find/not find your content as desired! But none of these things should be categorized as trigger warnings. Trigger warnings, content warnings, and tags are all separate things, and should be used appropriately so people know what to look for/avoid in a post.

Now, you may well ask: Why do the semantics matter? If something's tagged, why does it matter how it's tagged? Isn't it better to warn people about anything and everything that they might possibly not like?

For those affected by PTSD, trauma, phobias, anxiety, psychosis, optically-sensitive medical conditions, etc., being able to trust tags -- and the community's overall reliability where they are concerned -- can be critical to their health and well-being. When the community's tags become imprecise, sloppy, or unspecified -- for example, when people start throwing tags like "tw just in case" on their posts instead of actually describing what is in the post -- it becomes unpleasant or even dangerous for those people to exist in that community. And although doubtless well-intentioned, the kind of overzealous helicopter tagging that labels things like text formatting or the presence of emoji as a trigger does two things: First, it can confuse filters and sandbag search results (for search purposes, tags are treated like a word bank, rather than individual line items). Second, it fosters a general lack of regard for real, life-threatening triggers. If Tumblr users get used to seeing every tiny little thing called out as a "trigger" -- trigger warning, there's a picture of a bird in this post! trigger warning, I can't spell so there's probably a word misspelled in this post! trigger warning, someone used a heart emoji in this post! trigger warning, here's a photo with the color orange in it! trigger warning, there's a banana in this post! Self image trigger warning, I'm having the worst hair day, lol! j/k! -- then subconsciously, "trigger warning" becomes synonymous with "lots of things random people find mildly annoying, so tag stuff if you happen to think of it" instead of "a few important things we should be diligent about tagging because someone's life might quite literally depend on it."

I know categorizing tags can be confusing, and in recent years there hasn't been much consistency in usage on Tumblr, so here's a cheat sheet to help you decide what warnings to use (and to be clear, I didn't make these up; these are sourced from academic literature and teaching guides, and were -- back in the Olden Days -- also more widely used on Tumblr.)

Which Warning to Use on Your Post:

Trigger warning (TW): Used to denote content that may trigger a PTSD episode, a severe psychological reaction, or a physiological reaction due to a medical condition (e.g. epilepsy). Broadly speaking, this warning is intended to mitigate risks that may exist because of a viewer's personal experience and/or medical status. Examples of things that should be tagged TW: sexual violence; child abuse; flashing gifs

Content warning (CW): Used to denote sensitive material that may make viewers uncomfortable or upset, or that some viewers may prefer not to see, but not necessarily invoke a traumatic personal experience. Broadly speaking, this warning is concerned with a viewer's comfort level. This can include general concepts (e.g. discussion of homophobia) as well as specific instances (e.g. use of homophobic language). Examples of things that should be tagged CW: racism; nudity; death

Descriptive tags (not warnings): Used to describe the content of a post, without value judgment, so that it is searchable and/or avoidable. (And also to write rambling comma-free essays, because Tumblr is just Like That. But that's a whole separate thing.) Examples of things that can be (generally) tagged: the themes or topics being discussed; black and white images; capitalized text; insects; the color green; memes; rainbows; digital art; literally anything else that appears in your post

Can people still dislike/be upset by things that aren't on a broadly-accepted TW/CW list? Absolutely. But that's not quite the same as a trigger, and that's why we also have general tags.

Here's an example of the difference between disliking or being triggered by content (source: "The right way to use a Trigger Warning," emphasis mine):

Trigger Warnings are here to prevent people who have experienced traumatic experiences to be exposed to something that might trigger a physical and/or mental reaction. Trigger is the key word here. “Trigger*” is used to talk about PTSD and mental illness. “Triggered” and “offended/upset” are not the same concept. I can be upset if I see a picture of a beautiful cake because I cannot bake, but it won’t trigger a post-traumatic reaction.

You aren't going to be able to anticipate every single person's likes and dislikes, phobias, emotional associations, and so on. There's a temptation to try to cover every base imaginable, but that's actually... less than helpful. Actively unhelpful, in some cases. In addition to the reasons I cited earlier, here's an example of how "I'll tag it just in case someone doesn't like a thing" warnings can be confusing:

Let's say I have two followers: WingHater96 has a deep phobia of butterflies, while ButterSuperFly78 adores butterflies. Tagging a post "butterflies" helps them both navigate my feed more efficiently: WingHater96 can block the entire "butterfly" tag, while ButterSuperFly78 can search for it.

However, let's say I tagged that post in the form of a warning like "tw: butterflies" and hid it below a Read More just in case someone following me didn't like butterflies. WingHater96 would still have that post blocked, because it contains the word "butterfly" in the tag. It would also still appear in ButterSuperFly78's search results for the same reason -- the presence of the warning doesn't affect search results at all. But when ButterSuperFly78 sees the warning tag, they might now be confused about whether the post is full of pretty butterfly photography (which they would like to see), or if maybe the reason I put a warning on it is because it's about butterflies being harmed, because why else would you warn someone about butterflies when they're the best things ever? But wait, does OP know that they're the best things ever? Is the warning there because OP secretly hates butterflies?? Do they need to unfollow OP now because they're a butterfly-hater??? and ButterSuperFly78 would not know whether to view the post or scroll past until they psychoanalyze me to determine my personal feelings on butterflies.

Adding the warning provided zero additional benefit for the person who already had the tagged thing blocked, but it caused additional problems for the person actively seeking out that thing.

Obviously this is a bit exaggerated (...though, speaking from experience, only a bit), but it's a lot more efficient to just list the things that are in a post in the tags without framing them as warnings. That way, people with different likes and dislikes can curate their own experience more easily, and know to take trigger and content warnings more seriously when they DO appear.

TL;DR Trigger warnings exist to help people avoid PTSD or adverse psychological/physiological reactions. Casually throwing the word "trigger" in front of things that are not triggers makes people stop taking the need for warnings seriously, and can confuse people trying to curate their Tumblr experience. Reserve TW and CW for actual triggers/sensitive content and use standard tags for other things.

How dare the rest of you not follow the arbitrary rules I randomly declared for this meaningless thing!

It got pretty rough by the end. I was tag-searching Swifie blogs.

I've seen some dark things this day.

On the plus side, this got me to actually search tags I never look at and reblog cool posts, so I guess there was merit to this.

Of course I didn't follow anyone because right now everyone's blog is just 50 stupid boop memes.

okay i admit i'm mildly intrigued by that ot3 reblog tagged with vhalphion (?) so would you elaborate? are vholran and alphen also involved with each other? is this just alphen->shionne<-vholran? how chaotic is this and how did it come to be? how did the others react? 🎤

So, in the context of that post, I think, in my mind, Alphen was the lamb, Vholran was the wolf and Shionne was the dog. So uh, yeah, basically, Vholran and Shionne fighting over Alphen ;o; (i must admit i love taking away agency from alphen. Not necessarily all of it. Just a little. From time to time. as a treat. sorry buddy ://)

It miiiight also require a bit of tweaking Shionne’s characterization to make her into the “herding dog” archetype here but. I think she has it in her?? She was constantly looking out for him, right? At first to keep him in line and able to fight (the scene where she tries to slap him out of his grief comes to mind. That's her equivalent of nipping at the heels to keep the sheep going where it’s supposed to, probably.) and then it turned into something more but. IDK maybe we can make it a little possessive and toxic, for me. (also i gotta admit this just my preference for dom!shionne showing. what can i say.) And then Vholran, well. He’s Vhorlan. Obsessed with Alphen, wants to conquer and dominate and WIN. You know the dril. It kind of works, right?? So in that scenario, would there also be a kind of tension going on between Shionne and Vholran? M-maybe? It's still difficult for me to picture because Vholran doesn't seem to recognize Shionne as anything more than bait to get Alphen's attention. But she did shoot him in the face so there's probably also actual animosity going on. That's a starting point. If we can turn it around a little bit and get Vhorlan to view Shionne as a Challenging Opponent in the Alphen Contest (that's like the crown contest but you win alphen) worthy of his attention then we might be getting somewhere really really toxic and dangerous so i'm all for it!!!! they can talk in the shadows and point guns and blades at each other thats hot But yes it would be terrible, oh, i dare not think of the consequences any further!!!!!! As to how the others react? IDK they're supportive i'm sure (* ^ ω ^) (very concerned. but i guess the level of sheer Alarm depends on whether we're cramming this all into canon or if it's an AU.)

(BUT ALSO I’d be lying if I said I never entertained the idea of Modern AUs where Shionne and Alphen realize they are dating/used to date the Same Weird Dude. But I think it’s hard to imagine Shionne dating Vholran. Like if she were to do that then she probably has ulterior motives or is being pressured into it somehow (I think). Alphen on the other hand, I can see it happening? If Vhorlan just makes a teeny tiny effort to conceal the egomaniac murder frenzies, that is. True, he’s not exactly shown to be a master of deception in canon, but if he somehow gets it into his head that earning Alphen’s trust and then shattering it is the best way to utterly destroy him… he might just try to do that? Or maybe this is just me forcing Vholran into that Suave, Deceitful, Murderous Bisexual archetype for wish-fullfilment purposes. but thats another story)
