On one hand, I'd rather CRWBY didn't cliffhanger us going into the mini-hiatus.
On the other hand, if they do, they'd better cliffhanger us HARD

RWBY VOLUME 8 FINALE AFTERMATH!!!
SPOILERS!!!
SPOILERS!!!
SPOILERS!!!
WOW.......What A F***** Finale To End A Volume!!!! I was left surprised, shocked, sad, disappointed and ecstatic with the events that unfolded and also for the future of the RWBY series!!! I have so many theories and headcanons racking in my brain that I’m acting like a Giddy Little Troll 😆. So let’s jump right into the FINAL aftermath of Volume 8....
-(Tick-Tock Took Out The Vine) Before starting into this I want to give a shout out to CRWBY for starting out the episode with the “Warning” for the deaths that we were about to witness. I’m glad they were thoughtful for their fanbase’s wellbeing after watching this finale and hope they continue this trend of “warnings” in the future.
Now onto the first major character death of the episode......Vine 👀. I was fully expecting to see at least one of the Ace-Op members to die in the finale and I was actually quite surprised to see it only be Vine. Given the circumstances that Qrow, Vine, Elm, Marrow and Robyn were put into because of Harriet’s blind loyalty, it wouldn’t be too hard to have expected more characters to die in that situation.
Vine has always been the calm one within the team, so to see him willing to sacrifice himself to save his friends from death was a very touching moment. I was also honestly quite surprised he could used his semblance like that as well 😳. I kinda wished we had seen some more aspects of him extending his aura like that in previous episodes, but that’s just a bit of a small nit-pick of mine.
It’s also going to be interesting how this will impact the rest of the Ace-Op members going forward, especially Harriet. This will no doubt cause some inner turmoil for her character and only time will tell what type of effect it will hold in future dire situations .
-(Fighting For Your Beliefs) Hmmm......I’ll be honest......I was a bit disappointed with Winter and Ironwood’s fight 😓. Now I have a few reasons why I feel like this so let me explain....
1:I think the decision to make Ironwood fight with a “BFG” against Winter was a poor one. As we have seen in Volume 7 episode 11 we know that Ironwood can fight much better with his duel hand cannons. Watching him fight with a bigger weapon against a much more agile opponent didn’t feel right to me lol.
2: Having Winter win the fight using the maiden powers. Now I have no issue with Penny giving the powers to Winter, but I would have preferred if she could have found a way to defeat Ironwood without having the convenient power up. Winter is a very good fighter in her own right and I think having her defeat Ironwood with her abilities alone would mean much more before she was given the maiden powers by Penny.
3: Now I have said this before in previous posts but I would have liked it if Qrow was the one to fight Ironwood. There was indeed a bit of a build up for Qrow to fight Ironwood this volume so I do feel we were a bit blue-balled for that confrontation. Then after some time to think about it I feel the decision to make Winter be the one face Ironwood was the right one. Considering that this was the end of Atlas and that these two characters are the most associated with Atlas, made their fight against each other more fitting then leaving it up to Qrow.
The only positives I can give this fight is that it showcased more of Winter’s fighting potential and I was pleased how the animators made her fight with both Ironwood and later with Cinder. 😊
-(For Her Friends) Now onto definitely the most important part of this episode......Penny’s death. Now I’m really gonna be honest with all of you......I was not at all surprised that Penny died in the finale 😔. Ever since she gained the maiden powers she was always gonna have the “Red Flag” known as Cinder be connected to her. I more or less imagined that Penny’s powers would be taken by Cinder at some point and Penny would make some sacrificial play to save her friends while she still had her robot body. So when I witnessed her second death, as a REAL GIRL, I was shouting out “How could I be so RIGHT and so WRONG all at the same time!?” 😫
Now what has me intrigued about this second death is the part about Jaune’s involvement. I’m gonna keep my opinion about this choice from the writers neutral for now because I feel this is deeply connected to what they have already written for Volume 9. There’s is something they are planning for Jaune in the future and I want to see the whole picture of what they are drawing out before giving this either a thumbs up or a thumbs down. 😤
I have one more thing I want to bring up about this, and this is my opinion so if anyone wants to skip over this part I totally understand......so here it is. I truly believe Penny will be brought back to life in the future 🙂. When she first “died” back in volume 3 I fully believed she would be back eventually, so even if the circumstances are different this time around I am still having that same feeling that she will come back. I understand everyone else has their own feelings about what happen to Penny so I will not disapprove how everyone feels about it. It’s just how I feel about it is all 😊.....
-(The Captain Goes Down With His Ship) So.........this is the end of James Ironwood. As Atlas inevitably falls, so to does the man that represented as its symbol throughout the series and it’s aspects of strength, elitism and control.....
.......yeah I’m not buying it 😒
Something feels off if this is how he “permanently” dies..... I understand the symbolism of his “fall” parallels that of Atlas crashing down and being destroyed, but him dying doesn’t feel complete to me....
Not to mention this man has survived with half his body being destroyed in the past with what I believe to be nothing but his sheer will. So if I had to bet on anything I think he would have found a way to have survived Atlas’s crash and the flood that came afterwards....but I think he would be terribly wounded in the process....
There are also a few characters that I feel he hasn’t had a satisfying conclusion with that still needs to be addressed......Qrow, Oz and Glynda.
Also forgot to mention that apparently Arther Watts is dead too.....yeah I believe he’s not dead either 🤨. In fact I’m fully expecting Watts will survive but will be horribly burned and scarred the next time we see him. He will vow vengeance against Cinder and will stop at nothing to obtain his revenge on her. So it would be really lucky of him to find an unconscious and badly wounded general nearby that he could kidnap and experiment on to be his personal attack dog later to kill Cinder 🤔......wouldn’t that be a something to see lol
I’ll gladly wear some clown shoes and makeup in believing that we will be seeing both Ironwood and Watts again in the future, and if I’m wrong then I’ll gladly accept that L from everybody.....till then see you again next time general Ironwood and Arther Watts 🤗
-(Volume 9 and The Future Of RWBY) Alright! There is a couple of reasons why this post has taken me three weeks for me to write 😓.
First reason obviously is because of my job 😭. Some things have been happening at my work that has been stressing me out for weeks and honestly it’s been exhausting to even write anything....
Second reason is that over the course of the past few weeks after the finale aired I have been non-stop thinking of several headcannons, theories and speculations on what may happen in volume 9 and future volumes of RWBY 😆!! Don’t believe me? Here is some of the crazy s*** that came out of my head lol
-Team RWBY, Jaune and Neo meet the God Of Darkness
-The God Of Darkness gives Team RWBY power ups and new outfits to fight against Salem. Also gives Neo the ability to speak.
-Oscar vs Raven
-Salem sends Cinder to Vale to search for the Crown of Choice......but not alone. She gives Cinder 4 more experimental S.E.W Grimm to aid her and one of them happens to be Summer Rose.
-Horribly burned and scarred Watts kidnaps a wounded Ironwood and experiments on his body to change him into a complete cyborg with one objective......kill Cinder.
Believe me I have more context for each of those that I just addressed but that’s for separate posts that I hope to make in the future lol 🤗
Well that’s about all I got for that finale review and I literally cannot wait to see what happens next 😤 lol. I hope to engage with some of you in the fandom in the future and hope we get along 😎
Till next time........BUH-BYE!!!!

RWBY V7C2 Review - Ace Operatives (SPOILERS)
Synopsis
There is a time jump at the beginning of the episode signified by a little montage that shows RWBY and JNR getting their upgraded weapons and new outfits from Pietro.
In the present Clover briefs Ruby, Jaune and Qrow on their first mission together: They need to clear the launch site for Amity Tower, which was overrun by Grimm after the Dust mine located there was abandoned. The big problem is an old Geist who has evaded the military until now and has retreated into the mine.
After splitting up into three groups (RWBY & Harriet and Marrow, JNR & Vine and Elm, Qrow and Clover) and landing in different areas of the mine, everyone moves forward to enter the mine. But RWBY stays behind because Yang stops them to question the choice Ruby made during their meeting with Ironwood. After Blake and Weiß voice their support for her decision (and after a flashback of Oscar doubting that same decision is shown) the team continues the mission. In various instances of this mission it is made clear how advanced the Ace Operatives are in comparison to RWBY and JNR. While JNR is a little demoralized by that, Ruby on the other hand is very impressed by them and Harriet especially. Qrow also has to deal with similar feelings after he finds out that Clover’s semblance is Good Fortune which is the complete opposite of his own.
After all the teams advance to a large chamber filled with a lot of Dust, they all confront the Geist in its Giga form. The Ace Operatives work together to defeat it and make sure that all the Dust that is also part of the Grimm’s body doesn’t explode on impact and destroy the launch side and ruins all the Dust that is needed for build Amity Tower. RWBY, JNR and Qrow stay on the sidelines and watch this display of teamwork. In the end Ace Ops lose track on one of the Dust crystals that threatens to create a chain reaction. Ruby uses her own Semblance to catch it and is met by praise from Harriet and Elm.
In Mantle Forrest is let go from the police and walks through the street. There he meets Tyrian who seemingly kills him.
New information
Semblances:
·       Harriet: Speed
·       Clover: Time-stop
·       Vine: Aura arms
·       Elm: Aura foots (reason for walking around without shoes?)
·       Clover: Good Fortune
·       Ruby: Harriet mentions that there may be more to her semblance
Weapon Upgrades:
·       Yang: Remote controlled explosives
·       Ruby: New adjustments to Crescent Rose
·       Jaune: His shield is dust infused with Hard Light Dust and Gravity Dust
·       Ren: The blades on his weapons can be fired (but stay connected to the weapon through wires); his father’s blade is sheathed on this shoulder
Opinions
In general:
This whole episode is paced very well (Reminiscent of “Argus Limited” (V6C1)). And while exploring the upgrades and hair changes in more detail would have been cool as well, the little moments in this episode are still very effective. Jaune looks at his stash while remembering Phrrha and realizes his hair is bothering him, which signifies him becoming more mature since the first Volume with the help of his lost friend. Blake on the other hand looks in the mirror with a more excited look. She seems happy as she decides to cut her hair, because it is her way to move on from her past with Adam.
The connection of the destroyed Dust mine with the accident that killed Ilia’s parents is prevalent without Blake saying it explicitly. In the same scene Adam is shown to still have a presence in both Blake and Yang’s mind as seen with both of them reacting to the SDC logo on the crates in the mine.
Another great thing in this episode is how the fights are integrated in the story. The fights are littered during the whole episode and show how well the Ace Ops work together, what their Semblances are and what kind of upgrades RWBY and JNR got.  There is also no needless standing around unless it makes sense (like RWBY, JNR and Qrow letting the Ace Ops fight).
I want to highlight the landing scene because it evokes the early days in Beacon. The music, everyone being excited and Jaune actually succeeding in his landing strategy make this scene very emotional.
Other character Moments:
This episode is littered with great interactions. Blake and Weiß are shown to have grown very much: Weiß reacts to the dust mine being the location for a mining accident and regrets her having been complaisant in the suppression of Faunas. Another big moment is the reaction from the team to Ruby’s decision. Having Oscar be the one to doubt her makes sense and the reasons stated by Blake and Weiß why keeping the secret for the moment make sense and are identical with the ones I came up with during the week. A big accomplishment is the portrayal of the Ace Ops. In other shows those same characters would be mean. But here only the actions from them make a few of the characters uncertain of themselves and a few comments from them to make clear how much of a gap there is without them seeming arrogant about it.
 Shipping Moments:
Even if there were only a few scenes between the main ships, what we got was very poignant. The two main moments for Renora and Bumbleby are the acknowledgements of the new looks and even parallel each other: Yang stares at Blake’s new hair which she notices and gets insecure about. Yang is quick to reassure Blake that she looks good. Blake’s blush and Yang being flustered shows clear romantic (under)tones. Nora does the same with commenting on Ren’s new outfit. Ren rebuffs her though, which could be due to him being focused on the mission or not being comfortable with such affections in public.
Other Bumbleby moments include Yang noticing Blake’s realization to what happened in the Dust mine and making sure she is okay, Yang also noticing how Blake remembers Adam and grimacing at thinking of him and Blake laughing at a funny quip Yang makes while the same comment only make Weiß grin a little.
Clover’s comment towards Qrow saying “Lucky You” and winking while saying than also happened with a waitress flirting with Qrow in Volume 4. This makes for another unexpected (but not unwelcome) shipping moment.
TLDR
Overall this is my current favorite episode of this Volume. While the first two episodes needed to spend more time on set up, “Ace Operatives” includes a lot of interesting, cute and heartwarming character interactions that show how far everyone has come. The landing sequence with its music and the positive and confident vibe the characters are emanating is an especially great moment followed by CRWBY throwing subtlety out the window with telegraphing very clearly that Bumbleby will happen. My first viewing of the episode was a little tainted though due to all the upgrades and outfit changed being glossed over. But as I already said, the little moments dedicated on that topic are very effective, and with the whole episode being so perfectly constructed, I was able to let go of this gripe as soon as I watched it again.
Predictions
Everything from the Volume 7 trailer was shown now. So now only the foreshadowing in the episodes can be used to predict where this Volume could be going. Knowing about the election between Jacques and Robin Hill makes it clear that the seat in the council will play an important role in the following story. And with Tyrion killing Forrest, it is clear that him and Watts also have an interest in the election. Combine this with the fight between Tyrian, Robin and Qrow shown in the opening, and I am pretty sure this will be the main plot of the Volume.
Both the Renora moments and the Bumbleby moments also set up those relationships being explored more in this Volume. Because of that it becomes more and more possible that we will learn more about Nora’s past. And with Blake remembering Adam, her weapon upgrade that clearly includes metal from Yang’s weapon (or something invoking it) and their flustered interactions, the big talk that will probably mirror their talk in Volume 2 seems imminent.
And of course with the main plot dealing with Jacques Weiß will have a big part in it because her guilt and her being fed up with Faunas discrimination will most likely push her to take action against her father.

Volume 7, Episode 2: A New Approach
Tumblr media
This review was originally going to be posted after last week’s episode aired but I procrastinated too long and now it’s already Saturday again. But better late than never!
This episode was pretty good. Heavy on lore but not in the way that Volume 5 loved doing it, the group were standing around but they emoted more, the conversations were interesting and the visuals kept me from getting bored. So, let’s start with the positives!
I love Ironwood. I’ll admit it, he wasn’t my favourite before this volume. I liked him, but it wasn’t much more than that in fairness. But this episode has jumped my love of him. I enjoy his complexity. He’s not this tyrannical dictator that some people feared, but the rest of Team RWBYJNR have good points in that what he’s doing is hurting the people he’s meant to be protecting. They’re going to hate him, and so Ironwood is going to find that being hated  is not the best way to go about the problem.
He’s a classical case of good intentions, bad methods, and I love him for it. Also the fact that the guy with trust issues is the one trying to get everyone to trust him, and showing great displays of trust to the main characters, speaks volumes. Hecouldn’t trust Ozpin to do the right thing to the point where he went to the council behind Ozpin’s back, but he’s trusting Ruby with not only the relic, but the plan and the trust he puts in her.
How much that’s worth is to be seen, though.
Onto that scene between him and Ruby with her omitting information and lying? I liked it. I get that people will be frustrated that she and the team are doing the exact same thing that Ozpin did, I was too, but I feel that CRWBY are building up the scenario where Ruby finally realizes what it’s truly like to be in Ozpin’s shoes.
The thing that was most interesting is that there was no right or wrong way to go about it. Only pros and cons, and she has to weigh them up. Either she tells Ironwood the truth, that Salem can’t be destroyed and Ozpin not only knew, but didn’t tell anyone about it, not even the Pod Squad(TM), and risk Ironwood’s mental health snapping like a piece of spaghetti but saving the people he would’ve thrown at her in a vain attempt, as well throwing the world in a panic.
Or she keeps the truth from him, making the whole team’s reactions to Ozpin last volume come off as even more horrible and hypocritical, betraying Ironwood’s trust in her, and having more people be thrown at Salem in vain like the girls’ feel they were, but protecting his spaghetti string mental health and avoiding a fallout just like the previous volume.
Given the reactions in the newest episode that I’ll talk about in my next review, this seems to be set up as a very interesting arc for everyone, specially Ruby.
Going onto the more little moments of the episode, the interactions between the characters were spot on. Winter showing conflicting emotions, that are now more detailed because of the better engine being used, and her panicking over the stolen airship not because it was stolen Atlesian property, but because Weiss put herself in danger and could’ve been killed.
To Winter, Weiss was safe at home until she suddenly disappeared. I doubt Jacques would tell her the truth, so she’s left wondering where Weiss has gone, and then all of a sudden Weiss is back on an airship that would’ve been shot down in different circumstances. Winter clearly cares about her sister, and it’s shown in subtle ways because of who Winter is and how she’s grown. I look forward to seeing more of the Schnee sisters.
On top of that, I love the Ironwood and Qrow hug. I’m not a big shipper, I rarely ship many characters, but this moment was so soft and tender that I wouldn’t mind if Ironwood and Qrow have something more, or if it was just purely platonic. Give me more platonic men bonding, please, I’m starved.
Finally, the villains continue to steal the show for me. I’ll be honest, Watts was my least favourite villain, and one I found very flat, boring, and just meh. But this episode alone has me actually liking him and wanting to see more. His new coat is awesome, and it’s purple so Tyrian/Watts endgame.
Tyrian continues to be one of my favourite villains. CRWBY can really make entertaining villains when they aren’t too busy trying to make them complex, Tyrian is a simple crackhead and I love him for it because it not only brings a competent villain, but he’s not being bogged down by hamfisted Freudian Excuses or Unfortunate Implications like others.
Kinda disappointed that he went back to his old jacket, mostly because he has the bare minimal of purple in parts of his tail, and sometimes his eyes, given that colour is meant to be super important in the world building of RWBY. But I’m not super bummed because his old jacket was pretty dope.
Now onto the things that I really... didn’t like.
The main thing ultimately is that the scene in the lift was annoying, and not in the good frustratingly annoying like Ruby lying, because it made them look incompetent so it’d happen.
The group just decide to talk about how they’re going to keep something important from Ironwood... right in front of his guards. The scene even shows one of them turning to them, acknowledging what they’re saying, and I’m not a fan. It felt wholly unneeded. Blake saying that they’d follow Ruby’s lead was phoned in, we know they’d follow Ruby’s lead already, they’ve been doing so since the last Volume, Ruby’s their leader. The scene wasn’t needed.
They just look really bad at espionage. It was the same issue as last episode where they didn’t even bother to stay incognito. Weiss used her very recognizable Semblance to yeet the racist into the bin, Yang loudly destroyed Atlas property, and they all stick out like colourful thumbs in the more gritty and dull coloured Mantle.
They didn’t think this through, and it shows.
The other thing that I didn’t find funny was Nora acting like a dog at the beginning of the episode. I understand it was to not have it be too dark, but the Forest guy and his behaviour already served that purpose, and it’s meant to be dark. The team just got arrested, they don’t know what’s going to happen, and Nora has been shown to take thing seriously in the previous volumes. Her later antics in the episode were funny, but this one just wasn’t for me.
It felt like once again, Nora wasn’t acting seriously, she was acting as the “Funny Comic Relief(TM)” again, and it’s starting to wear on me.
So that’s it for A New Approach. Overall, I liked this episode! It provided the slow, lore episode needed after the high intensity of the last one, and the fact that they can have tension without needing a fight shows that CRWBY is learning that fact. I didn’t like it as much as the first one, but it was still pretty good.
Episode Rating: 7.5/10
