My experience of King Asmodeus

Upon meeting him while drawing a gift for a friend, he greeted me with a nauseating rush of energy and later with the words “Finish my drawing”

At this point I hadn’t read the myths relating to King Asmodeus and I admittedly giggled a bit because wow, this drawing is a gift, not a commission and the audacity was funny to me. It quickly turned into a “job” tho, with his energy hanging around my right shoulder while I worked.

During this period, a huge storm was coming in and a tornado was expected. I have a huge problems with tornados and getting overwhelmed with anxiety when sirens go off. While the wind bent the trees outside I felt his presence enter into my space and the words “nothing will happen to you and your family”

Thankfully he wasn’t blowing smoke and everything turned out fine, the weather calming down an hour or two later. After the drawing was finished and sent off (signed Dobby the art elf cuz that’s exactly what it felt like), I still felt his energy in the house. With the nerves from the day and the onset of hormones I asked that I be left alone, that his energy is very there, and that it was an honor to meet him but I’m only interested in working with Mammon and this house is closed off to frequent visitors.

He respected my wishes and I felt the air clear. The next day I woke up and like normal folk, scrolled the feed. An artwork popped up with the exact features of the portrait I had done the day before. I took this as a knock at my door and decided to ask what he would like to talk to me about.

A tarot spread later it became pretty clear that he was interested in working with me. A few other discussions later and it slowly became apparent that it was more of a matter of fact instead of a proposal. The whole interaction boldly stated “I’ve adopted you, you’re mine and you work with me now”

Even more discussions with current guides advised me that there was something’s to learn from him and that they felt it was a good choice. I decided to go with the flow and accept it, knowing that he was an addition and not a replacement for current guides. And let’s be honest, he probably seen my daddy issues from miles away and who am I to deny the perfect opportunity to be bossed around by a man that seems to know exactly what he’s doing?

I let him know that, yes, I would like to work with him. Thus initiating the next task. An altar. After just two days of knowing him a space for him was cleared and the beginnings of an altar was set up.

Other things I’ve observed is that even tho he is quite bossy at times, he is very respectful and seems to be very good at communicating. I’ve asked him favors and set boundaries and he will clearly respond and be accommodating.

I’ve also noticed that he has an aura of acceptance that comes with him. A benevolent aura that just simply understands. He is also fantastic at working with my adhd, and rolls with the punches fluently. Taking advantage of my stim breaks and my frequent daydreaming while listening to music.

Overall, it’s a vibe, and I feel honored to share this past week with him. I’m excited to see where it goes in the future. Hail King Asmodeus, thanks for adopting me lol

the change to Stolas' VA has another unintended problem, too: previously all three Goetias had pretty noticeable British accents (old Stolas and current Stella more than Via). It's cliche but it marked them as a set and it worked for the whole posh nobility vibe

Now Stolas doesn't have much of a British accent at all. it's like every aspect of the character that he would naturally have from being raised royal has been scrubbed clean.

this kind of thing happens with writers but especially mid liberal ones a lot - they want to have a privileged or powerful character or have a setting in the past but the writers are either worried the audience won't like them or are uncomfortable interrogating the politics of power themselves, so they write that character as having the same attitudes and education levels as everyone else.

it really broke my immersion how hard they do this for Stolas. he's literally dressed and waited on by imp butlers from childhood but he's magically enlightened enough that he bows to Blitz and talks to him like an equal? at that age he would already know that he's higher on Hell's pecking order without the show heavy-handedly having Paimon drill the notion into him, kids aren't dumb about that kind of thing. even if we want to pass the buck and say Paimon raised him into the kind of attitudes he displayed in s1, he never learnt better he just magically ditched all of that offscreen when Blitz didn't immediately love him back by the time Ozzie's happened

I agree with your earlier response about JKR's writing at least being more consistent than Vivzie's, but the framing of class issues reminded me of it again. HP has this notion that keeping house elf slavery going is fine and only Dobby can be freed from it because he's the one elf the audience knows and cares about, and everyone else will just have to stick with it because they aren't Harry Potter's one special friend. The way HB is going, Blitz will become Stolas' consort/lover and be compensated for being stuck with Stolas forever by getting some of Stolas' protections/luxuries in his life while the rest of the imps stay stuck on the bottom & the show will do its best to act like this is acceptable & hide the fact that Stolas still has imp servants (and has no intentions of giving them up) who don't get treated any better but who just have to lump it because they didn't realize getting better treatment means having to let Stolas fuck them literally on top of the way he already does economically

I mean, both Stolas voices gave him British accents, but I always preferred Brock's and there's a very good reason for that. It's because Brock's Stolas was basically Brock doing his best Anthony Head impression, and that's fucking glorious to me.

Like, come on. Tell me this wouldn't have made the best Stolas and Via MVs after it became common knowledge that that's what Brock was going for.

HotD Headcanons pt 2 :)

Hey everyone! Here is the sort of part 2 of my hotd headcanons list! I posted Aemond and Aegon separately because I just had too many ideas for them to put all into one thing. But this one will include some for Helaena, Alicent, Rhaenyra, and the rest of the boys! Hope y'all enjoy! :)

Alicent:

Definitely a cat person over a dog person. Was a little hesitant at first but after Helaena got her cat, she was all in. It’s her grand baby

Her and Rhaenyra grew up together, Alicent had a small crush on her when they were younger. Although she never really acknowledged it as a crush, and thought of it more so as admiration.

Prefers white wine over red, but loves a good rose.

Stress cleans to the max!! Similar to Aemond and his smoking, it helps her think through things. When she’s got a lot on her mind you’ll find her reorganizing the bookshelf or the spice cabinet.

Definitely does wine nights with her girlfriends, her and Rhaenyra started it cause they needed to vent about their men 😭

Rhaenyra:

Was a barbie girl growing up

Can make a really good Sangria, idk but I get the vibe she can make a good one. She also prefers red wine over white. But will never say no to champagne

Makes Daemon get his own closet, cause she’s a fashion icon and needs room for all her outfits, shoes, etc… as she should though…

makes Daemon help her with some of her more difficult hairstyles

Daemon:

Every year for Rhaenyra’s birthday he tries to bake a lemon cake for her. He always waits until she goes to bed the night before, and he tries to bake it in the early hours of the morning. He’s not too successful though… He set the fire alarm off at 5am before waking the whole house up. And once he did salt instead of sugar. But he knows she loves lemon anything, so he figured he’d still give it a shot.

Literally such a simp for Rhaenyra and I'm here for it

drinks his coffee black, no sugar, no milk/cream

when Jace and Luke were little, he'd let them braid his hair to placate them

Jace:

A white claw man, and often says “ain’t no laws while drinking claws”. He also hopes that this will make him seem cool to Aegon.

Would name the family dog some kind of pun, like Otto Von BisBark. (my high school history teacher named his dog that and I think it’s so good)

He’s got Lab dog energy. He’s a sweetie and just wants to impress people, and make his family proud. Even though he’s a little clumsy, or can be temperamental, he just wants what's best.

Luke is his best friend

Luke:

Still sleeps with a stuffed animal dragon Daemon and Rhaenyra got him as a baby

Luke, Daemon and Jace make a powerpoint trying to convince Rhaenyra that they need to get a dog. Since Jace works at the animal shelter he gets to see all the newcomers!

Besties with Jace, but he games a lot with Aegon, so somehow he’s a close second.

Helaena:

Has a pet cat, but something a little bizarre. She’d have a sphynx or maybe an shorthair, the ones with the big Dobby ears.

At the grocery store, she gets the cans with dents in them, or the slightly bruised fruits because she feels bad that they'll get thrown out.

Really wants to leash train her cat. I mean how cool would it be to walk around campus with your cat on a leash?!

3. Obscure headcanon

obscure headcanon 1 - dean thomas was born may 10th 1980, the day west ham won the FA cup. that west ham have never won the cup since remains a source of great regret for east london's golden boy. unfortunately may 10th also happened to be the day in 1997 when gryffindor won the house cup and harry potter scooped his ex from right from under his nose - a bad birthday for the ages. seamus tried to cheer him up by reminding him that may 10th is also the birthday of a proud son of ireland (bono from U2), which dean said was 'not helping'

obscure headcanon 2 - this is dean and seamus' son:

also this isn't obscure but their first kiss was 100% in the finnigan tent at the quidditch world cup after ireland's stonking victory over bulgaria

4. Favorite line

for seamus, it's probably when they're all in the dormitory in GoF and dobby rocks up and seamus nonchalantly goes 'someone attacking you, Harry?' aka mr finnigan giving precisely zero shits about whatever main character moment harry is having and thereby failing his audition for inclusion in the golden trio. bonus special mention to the world's worst pep talk in PS/SS:

“Harry, you need your strength,” said Seamus Finnigan. “Seekers are always the ones who get clobbered by the other team.” “Thanks, Seamus,” said Harry, watching Seamus pile ketchup on his sausages.

14. Most heroic moment

seamus 'harry's a liar' finnigan getting beaten to a pulp and unrecognisably disfigured by the carrows. king shit

dean is being the biggest bravest boy in the world all on his own on the run leaving his mum and sisters behind and not being able to have a cuddle when he's lost and alone and scared and hungry all through DH :(

37. What they really think about themselves

i think, as teenagers, seamus was the one with a lot of insecurities and self-loathing: struggling with the knowledge that he was gay and a bit in love with his best mate and not really knowing what to do with it, in conflict with his mum and wrestling with who he was going to be in this big war that seemed to be looming, not the cleverest or the sportiest or the anything-est and generally a bit aggy and restless. dean was the much more relaxed one of the two. he had a strong sense of right and wrong, was sure the goodies would prevail before anything got too out of hand, was content with his kind of chill blokey vibe and got a fit girlfriend that meant he could park any of the slightly confusing feelings he was feeling for shay.

after the war, though, they swap roles. seamus has quite a settled sense of self after his school years - like, he got his fuck up out of the way (not believing voldemort was back, having his big sulk), but then redeemed himself, was on some real hero shit and really became close with the other DA lot, getting a lot out of the prestige of being an auror for a bit, no longer felt like he had much to prove, and felt loved and confident enough to come out. dean, however, really struggled with the impact of the war, feeling an intense sense of isolation and distance from the other's wartime experiences, and both envying seamus' confidence to come out but struggling to accept that he might also not be straight, like it was just another thing that would mark him out as Other. i basically think seamus and dean were hooking up a lot immediately after school and in their early twenties, but always in secret, while dean kept dating muggle girls and playing out this big tension he feels in his own identity, between the muggle and wizarding worlds, as well as over his own sexuality and internalised homophobia. i reckon seamus was the one to (eventually) recognise this was self-destructive and breaking his heart, and ended it. cue the wilderness years!

they obviously get back together eventually, though, hence west ham son (yes i'm obsessed with this child), although seamus threatened to break up with him when dean argued he should be allowed to put the imperius curse on declan rice to stop him moving to arsenal and betraying his beloved hammers in summer 2023

i suppose this depends on whether being into curly-haired and mildly terrifying women is a trait all the gaunts share or not. i'm inclined to think it is - if only because having the exact same type as his mother fits perfectly with voldemort's whole... vibe.

bellatrix, raised with house elves and therefore incapable of understanding even the most basic domestic tasks, thinks that adding amortentia to tea is how the flavour really gets drawn out.

Most of my favorite skyrim modded followers and what I think what type of khajiit variant and furstock they'd be.

I picked a domestic cat breed and a wild cat breed for all of them. The descriptions won't have that much in it. It's more the looks I'm basing off on every character. I also picked a quad-ped and biped for each character too.

Inigo: Blue tiger/blue tabby. I mean since he's already a khajiit you can't really say you see him as anything else. But if he wasn't blue I think he'd be a white tiger variant and an American short hair. I think he would still be a Suthay and for the quad-ped he'd be a pahmar

Lucien Flavius: Orange and white tabby munchkin mix cat / Arabian sand cat.

Sometimes he reminds me of my cat named Mellow when she was a kitten honestly. I picked the Sand cat only because it's small and basically blonde.

I definitely think he'd be an alfiq mainly because I read something about them being more magically strong. I also think he'd be a Tojay or Suthay-raht.

Kaidan: Brown siberian cat/ Panther.

I picked what I thought was the most intimidating cats at the top of my and mind and picked these two. I would have given Kaidan the Maine Coone but they aren't intimidating at all and are one of the most gentle cats to have.

Definitely gives Cathay-raht or Senche-raht vibes.

Auri: Abynissian/ Cinnamon Caracal.

I picked both of these because these cats are known to be wild and energetic and they can also be seen with as red so ginger red head gang.

Definitely Ohmes-raht and Dagi vibes. Dagi for climbing and living in trees and normally I'd pick ohmes since the bosmer and phmes are very closely related, but I picked ohmes-raht because of Auri's wild nature matching with her having more cat like features.

Caryalind: Yellow Ragdoll / Asian Golden cat

The ragdoll is seen as one of the sweetest cats in the world and the fact their are ones with golden coats just scream caryalind. The Asian Golden cat is picked it just because of the golden.

He's like Dagi-raht and Ohmes vibes.

Nebarra: Fat Golden Persian / Pallas Cat.

I have a whole story of Persian Catbarra being found in an abandoned barn starving and almost dead from being mauled by wolves. When he's living with his 'savior' he has the biggest attitude but he low-key has the biggest heart.

There is art of him as a khajiit, somewhere. But it portrays him as a Pallas cat and now no one can convince me otherwise it's his spirit animal.

I gave him Suthay and Senche variants.

Khash: Russian Blue/ Rusty-Spotted Cat.

If khash was a cat I think she'd be quite Russian Blue, just because.

Tiny and dangerous. Only reason I picked the rusted-spotted cat

I think she'd be Tojay-raht and Dagi

Taliesin: Siamese / Serval. My mom always told me the Siamese had the attitude of every cat breed in the world.

And Taliesin being a high Elf with dark hair matches the servals gold fur with dark spots, and the first serval I seen had the biggest attitude I've ever seen. I think

Taliesin would be an Suthay-raht and Alfiq.

Xelzaz: Scottish Fold / Jaguar. Scottish folds are so cute and their name just sounds so mature and determined.

When I was younger I thought jaguars and leopards were the only big cats that liked water because if a video I saw of a jaguars swimming for fun.

Xelzaz gives me Suthay-raht and Alfiq vibes.

Lucifer: Oriental Short-haired / Iriomote wild cat I was either gonna pick the Cornish Rex or the 'dobby' cat for Lucifer mostly as a joke but I honestly do think that out of every cat breed he would be that.

The Iriomote-yamaneko is known for the meaning "that which has flashing eyes". If you look at the cat you'll notice it has eyes kind of similar to to Lucifer, and the fact that it's critically endangered and my lack of knowledge of this species reminds me that I barely no anything about Lucifer.

I think Lucifer would be Tojay-raht and Alfiq-raht

Remiel: Greyish/Brown Mackerel Tabby / Black Tiger (yes there was 10 found in India, look it up *beware there was a dead tiger was on the search*)

I honestly thought that her cat Numi was a Brown Mackerel tabby mostly because I thought the mackerel tabby looked the most like how I imagine Remiel.

When I think of Remiel and which colors resonate with her. I think warm dark colors mainly of Orange, red, and black. Which kind of reminded me of tigers the most, but I didn't want to give her the plain Bengal so I look to see if black tigers were a thing.

I think Remiel would be a Tojay and a Dagi mainly too climb in dwemer cities safely.

Gore: Tortieshell Tabby / Female Lion

I think the tortieshell matches Gore's beauty a lot honestly that's the only reason I picked the tortieshelk for him. I think if he'd have cats he'd have a torieshell and a Bengal.

I'm specifically saying a female lion mainly for the fact that Gore is someone who is drawn to packs and is more of a hunter and not like how Male lions are portrayed as the leader.

Gore is definitely a Suthay or Tojay-raht and Pahmar-raht. Normally I'd pick Cathay for Gore but in the conversation where he asks that you don't see him as a great-sword wielder because of him not being a someone who's super muscular and tall, it makes sense to give him a smaller body furstock because it stick to his character.

Eris Light and Shade: Nebelung (german cat) / Lynx

I only picked Nebelung because of the name and the color of its coat.

The lynx is seen as one that's very reserved and quiet. Only keeping to itself, which matches a lot with Eris's personality

I see her as an Alfiq-raht and an Ohmes.

If you could ave any of the hp characters that died, who would you save and why?

This is a tough one. I think character deaths are generally well thought out in the series, and my first instincts for characters to save (Sirius, Dobby, Remus) are all ones whose deaths make the story's arc more powerful.

But...

Good god, Lavender Brown. The text is pretty ambiguous, but I think the majority consensus is that she's killed by Greyback. An appalling end for a character who's so deeply mistreated by the entire text, to be frank.

We only really see Lavender as a giggly, fluff-and-pink-loving foil for Hermione's bookish, not-like-other-girls vibe. A simpering first girlfriend for Ron, whom he essentially uses to gain experience after Ginny's comment about snogging Pigwidgeon. And her death means that he's the closest experience she'll ever get to romantic love. This is all clearly meant to be justified by the fact that she's a bit annoying, but everyone's a bit annoying in their early teens. Lavender's treated as nothing but a prop, and she deserves so 👏 much 👏 more 👏 than that.

@whinlatter makes a brilliant point about cheap-shot deaths in her response to this same question (go read it!), where she addresses the nature of Fred Weasley's death. I 100% agree that Fred is another character worth saving, but there's a super tiny part of me that would have thought it unrealistic if all the Weasleys had survived. Lavender's a cheap shot that I can't understand from any angle, and I think Ron will be pretty messed up over it after the war. Obviously there are a lot of good answers, and without spoiling anything, based on Beasts I think we might have similar thoughts on this one. 👀

this was so thoughtfully and gracefully answered, i'm in awe. just wanted to say that you're not alone in observing that there has been a lull in fandom, and it's so absolutely valid and understandable that that then affects writing motivation -- particularly for a smaller and fandom-unpopular ship where it's already much more difficult to find your community while also protecting your joy. <3

(i will point out the elephant in the room: the fact that remadora shippers often have to make an exceptional effort to write, promote, and support other slash ships to "prove" they're not homophobic, they just happen to not be a fan of that one specific slash ship, is exhausting, I'm exhausted af on your behalf and while i will die on the Fandom Is Not Meaningful Activism hill sometimes I do wish exclusive shippers of the Big Fandom Slash Ships spent one tenth the amount of effort writing, reccing, and engaging with female character-centric het, femslash, gen, whatever, to "prove" that they don't Hate Female Characters.)
