I don't know which part of this line is the funniest bit to me - the fact that it was Bubblegum's yaoi counterpart that got to say it, the fact that Adventure Time canonically referenced SpongeBob, the deadpanned emotionless way he said it, the fact that I knew gay shit would happen the second I saw Scarab's Pose or the fact that it happened in the first place. Akio trying to convince Utena in the last episode that Anthy's suffering is a tragic but inevitable facet of reality and nothing can be done about it despite him being the primary one responsible for her suffering, and this being part of his smoke and mirrors illusion through which he maintains control, acting like his tower is the highest place in the world and he is the end of the world and there's nothing beyond the limits of his power and it's naive and delusional to think otherwise...and Anthy having internalized this idea that there's no hope for her and there's no possible future for her beyond Akio's abuse...and Utena rejecting this ultimately not out of some abstract idea of heroism or nobility or some clear idea of how to fix things but simply because she cannot accept it and she loves Anthy too much to not try to do something...and that giving Anthy the hope and courage to believe in a future where she can be loved and be happy and the strength to choose to leave herself and even subtly mock Akio's own immaturity and self-delusion on her way out the door as she goes to step over the line to the outside world while Akio is shocked because he never considered that his power over her was not absolute and he too believed in the indestructibility of the system he created...the revolution was the power to imagine the future!! the world (the stage) is free and wide!!

THE INSTINCTUAL URGE to shove Marque away was quickly suppressed despite Hyde’s DISGUST at the physical contact. He’d warned him. He’d fucking WARNED him. He should’ve suspected Marque wouldn’t take him seriously.

This little thing that had been happening between them? This… FRIENDSHIP? Maybe it had run its course.

Instead of pushing him away, Hyde simply reached into his back pocket, pulling out a knife. And just as quickly, he RETURNED THE EMBRACE, making his grip as tight as possible to keep Marque in place in his arms. He wanted a hug? Fine.

“Stay RIGHT there.” His voice dropped with malevolence, a small smirk coming across his face. And yet, the dagger in his hand, SHARP BLADE GLEAMING, never plunged into flesh. Instead, with his free hand, Hyde grabbed Marque’s hair, giving it a FIRM TUG so his head was tilted backwards. The other hand pressed the blade up against the side of his neck, cold and calculating, but never quite cutting into the skin.

He could’ve killed him right then and there without a warning or a chance for him to get away. Why he didn’t, he had NO IDEA.
