I've only seen like 4 episodes from season 1, but the Miraculous Ladybug movie blew the show out of the fucking water!! It felt like I got payoff I'd waited years for, even though I haven't watched a full season. It's clear the writers loved the source material and knew how to improve it without messing stuff up. Also they ditched the freakishly large eyes on Hawkmoth, which was a very good design choice imo.

My only criticism is that the songs were not good at all and Marinette has this pouty tiktok singing voice that I'm not fond of.

Marinette never really wanted to be a superhero, for the record, but the choice wasn’t hers. And when she sees a car headed for Alya the day Stoneheart appears, that’s not a choice either—that’s a death sentence for a girl with no powers, just a phone and too much curiosity for her own good.

Marinette becomes Ladybug, and she moves.

In hindsight, Marinette supposes the car crushes her skull, her lungs—something like that. She thinks she remembers hitting the ground, but that could be wishful thinking, the desire for a sense of certainty that will always be out of reach. It doesn’t really matter, as much as she’d like to think so.

The bottom line is that on her first day on the job, Ladybug dies. And then she gets back up.

Jean: Thank you... *Slaps Chloé across the face with his glove* Good, I have your attention. You! Need! Some! Self! Respect! Girl! Enough of the bratty rich girl routine! It’s not a personality! You’re just copying your bitch mom!

Chloé: I-

Denise: We’re not done, here. Now, you’re gonna attend a nice long therapy session with us. It’s we go to vent about a few of your classmates, mostly Marinette, and then pretend the cranberry juice is wine to forget our troubles… We drink a lot of cranberry juice.

Chloé ends up venting A LOT at group therapy, going into detail about her disdain for her egg donor, how she wants to be more independent but doesn’t know how, how she loathes Marinette for doing horrible things yet getting off scot free, and how she wants a descent friendship with Adrien but Marinette and the girl squad keep preventing that

Simon: Oh, now that’s just harsh.

Denise: You’re trying to be good, aren’t you?

Chloé: I am, but they don’t believe me. They only give me a chance when Marinette convinces them!

Marc: That’s kinda… Bitchy.

Chloé: I know!

Later, they start inviting Chloé to group sleepovers, which she discovers Nathaniel is a part of as well

Chloé apologizes for getting him Akumatized, and to her surprise, he forgives her and even says how the Science Kids talked him through how that drawing of Marinette was kind of creepy

Chloé: Well, you’re WAY less of a creep than her.

Nathaniel: Beg your pardon?

Chloé doesn’t leave anything out when she tells Nathaniel all the things city workers have told her about the times some blue haired girl tried to scale the walls of the Agreste mansion

Now she, Zoé, and Nathaniel have a betting system where they bet how Marinette will stalk Adrien this week

Nathaniel usually wins all of them

Chloé even begins taking shelter with him and the Science Kids during Akuma attacks and discovers that it’s kinda nice being in a group instead of running around like a nut job

It doesn’t take long for the Akuma Class to notice how close they are, and Marinette pulls Nathaniel aside to talk guiltrip him into stop hanging out with Chloè

But, hanging around Jean and Chloé have helped his confidence, so he shuts that down quickly

They gossip with Jean, Zoé, and surprisingly Mireille about everyone at school. Turns out, M. Grotke has a crush on M. Monlataing

Zoé helps change up her style to something less… Audrey

Now Chloé’s got her hair down, she’s wearing descent makeup, a yellow crop top, white wide leg pants, and a comfortable pair of sneakers the Science Kids and Nathaniel all draw on

Chloé finally gets a minute alone with Adrien and tells him upfront she’s been working on changing herself for the better and hopes that they can be friends again

Adrien gives her a chance and even invites her to get some frozen yogurt after school. Yay!

Of course, the Science Kids are proud and immediately group hug her the next day while ignoring the scowl on Marinette’s face

Marinette finally confronts them as to why they’re suddenly friendly with Chloé after everything she’s done to her

Jean: … Uh, she got me Akumatized, ya know. And, we’re cool now.

Denise: She called me ‘Meathead’ for five years. I’m over it.

Lacey: No sweat up my ass.

Marc: You’re not the only person she’s hurt. Besides, we can be friends with whoever we want.

Ismael: Yeah, as long as she ain’t a TERF, she’s cool. Plus, she knows how to skateboard, and that is something I was not expecting.

Aurore: I’m cool with her.

Zoé: Who else will I vent to about that bitch who married the mayor for status like some common gold digger?

Mireille: You mean your mom?

Zoé: Same difference.

I want your neighbour scenario to be the new Adrienette AU. Marinette puts a winky face letter for her new neighbour Adrien, and then regrets it like 30 mins later.

OKAY I hate how it sounds sooo neighbour AU but for real though not to use my current very awkward neighbour story (more details about what this is about in the tags of this poll for those who've missed my latest misadventure) buuut:

Post Hawkmoth-defeat AU where they're in uni or something

Marinette lives in an apartment, number 7 (the number isn't relevant it's just my apartment number ok)

Adrien changed his last name a few years following his dad's arrest because being an Agreste is Not Cool At All and Marinette doesn't know it

Adrien is new in the apartment building and just so happens to move in apartment 6, right on the same floor as Marinette's. Adrien being an early bird on time and Marinette a disaster owl very much not on time in the mornings, they haven't crossed paths yet

On Adrien's mailbox, there's his new name but it's not like Marinette would know it's him, while she hasn't her name on her mailbox apart from her apartment number because she got too lazy to grab a piece of paper and write her name on it. So she's just. Appartement n°7, and so they're not recognising that it's Adrien and Marinette who are their neighbour.

And here comes my story, MLified: Adrien makes a poll in his neighbours' mailbox asking whether anyone would mind if he parked his bike in the building's corridor

Marinette answers his poll and says that of course it's not a problem for her :)

Adrien being nice and slightly too enthusiastic at getting a nice answer telling him he's not a problem coupled with an emoji smiling, decides that the best way to thank his neighbour in a not at all over exaggerated way is to buy her crispy m&ms with a note saying (and I'm quoting the note I got in my mailbox) "congratulations appartement 7, you picked the right answer! Here's a little gift to thank you, enjoy!"

Marinette who finds that waaayy too adorable (and who really needed a snack that day) gets a little too excited, and decides to leave back a note in Adrien's mailbox to thank him

She writes (and I have to quote myself on that): "THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE M&M'S!!! So nice!! Don't hesitate to knock if you ever need an egg or salt or something else ;)"

AFTER she dropped the note in his mailbox she realises that the winky face could be WIDELY MISINTERPRETED OH MY GOD YOU DUMB ASS, and promptly goes into "catastrophe" mode. She naturally and rationally considers moving out in a country far, far away.

(and here stops my story for now because I'm at the 'moving far away' part and I do not intend on having whatever lovesquare romance with my new neighbour thank you very much, but Adrinette would enjoy it)

Adrien, who's an oblivious and innocent baby doesn't notice anything wrong with the note and just thinks it's really sweet and friendly :). To thank his neighbour for being sweet, he buys her another pack of crispy m&m's

Marinette on her side start to think he misinterpreted her winky emoji, and is second guessing every new m&ms package coming in her mailbox

Anyway I don't have a follow up for this right now, I guess we could add some ladynoir bonding moments:

Like Ladybug talks to Chat Noir about her winky emoji note all panicked, and Chat Noir is just like "what of it, it just proves you're being nice, right?"

To which Ladybug explains that NO, WELL YES, but it could have other interpretations, and what if her neighbour thinks she's not only offering egg and salt??

To which Chat Noir proceeds to have a mental breakdown because "oh my god my Lady, my neighbour left me a note with a winky smiley the other day offering 'something else', do you think it means she's...implying something else???"

To which Ladybug is like "oh my GOD Chat Noir your neighbour is TOTALLY hitting on you 😱"

HENCE identity shenanigans because they DUMB.and don't notice that their stories are similar, and the notes exchange becomes a lot more confusing on Adrien and Marinette's sides but they keep sending some because heyyy, new friend and free food right?

I will stop this now because it's way too long and nonsensical for what it is, and it's late here fjzjfnzkfn but. Yeah I guess in my distress I. Can make every situations lovesquare-able 🥲
