Endeavour Season 8, Episode 1 Recap: "Striker"
Endeavour Season 8, Episode 1 Recap: “Striker”
While the Season 8 episode of Endeavour hints at the more excellent mystery, Morse’s drinking issue is the underlying narrative. Wednesday, alone in an alley, faces up against a couple of nasty characters, and he desperately needs Morse and Strange’s help. That night Morse is so intoxicated that he needs to be awakened from his coma by Thursday, who is excitedly waiting for him. Additionally,…

Explanation of Endeavour episodes' titles
i have come to notice many episodes were named with peculiar titles alluring to episode theme with undertone of dark academia symbolism, drawing words from mythology, music, art, culture, which adds to sense of elevated academia mannerism of whole narrative and setting.
I will not be commenting on how the name fits the story, for i do not wish to spoil anyone anything.
Fellow endeavour fans, feel free to add any other peculiar observation.
Season 1
ep.2. Fugue - In music, a fugue is a contrapuntal compositional technique in more than two voices, built on a subject that is introduced at the beginning in imitation and which recurs frequently in the course of the composition. (wikipedia)
-a musical composition in which one or two themes are repeated or imitated by successively entering voices and contrapuntally  developed in a continuous interweaving of the voice parts. (merriam webster)
*i think that is that choir singing that builds up and always plays in background throughout the series
Season 2
ep.2. Nocturne -  work of art dealing with evening or night especially : a dreamy pensive composition for the piano
Season 3
ep.4. Coda - a concluding part of a literary or dramatic work; serves as conclusion to events that need to be rounded out.
Season 4
ep.2. Canticle - a hymn or chant, body of text in bible or in Divine Comedy or other work that rhymes and it is one distinguished part of work; like chapter in book, but it rhymes.
ep.3. Lazaretto - quarantine for those with contagious illness;  A lazaretto is a quarantine station for maritime travelers (from east that came to Venice mostly hence Lazaretto Island) Historically, lazarettos were used to control outbreaks of cholera and plague found on board visiting ships.
Season 5
ep.6. Icarus - boy who flew too high to sun so his wings made of wax melted and he fell into ocean and died. his father who made him wings to escape from minotaur's labyrinth, but boy ignored the warning striving for higher
Season 6
ep4. Degüello - spanish battle music, song that conveys hate and complete destruction of enemy without mercy, it also marks bringing an end to struggle that has been threatening to upend the familiar and safe, the return to normal
Season 7
ep2. Raga - traditional indian music
ep.3. Zenana -in muslim and hindu homes part of a house for the seclusion of women
Season 8
ep.2. Scherzo - in music composition type; short, lively piece of classical music which is usually part of a longer piece of music
-in british English it also means a joke, a prank (idk if this is true)
ep.3. Terminus (lat.) - the end of a railway or other transport route, or a station at such a point; a terminal.
-an extreme point of something
-a final goal : a finishing point
Season 9

Things about Not me series episode 1
1) I'm glad Gun is getting to explore and experiment. He's a really good actor and we're gonna swoon when we'll get to see him as Black.
2) The child actors were wonderful. I don't know if they've acted before or not , but they looked like they knew what they were doing , experienced.
3) I have never felt actual dangerous vibes or even anger from P'Off onscreen i think. The only time i think I've seen him hit anyone is that one time in season 2 of puppy honey. He was an asshole in some of the series , but he never seemed violent. Even from the picture they showed of him
Tumblr media
This one , he kinda looked ... capable of arson? Not exactly violent but , he looks on edge of violence. He was gonna slap white. There was genuine fear in his eyes. But then he rolled around on the floor and squishes gun's cheekies and i was like , maybe we're gonna get to see his soft side later on like this and lose our goddamn minds . What if it's going to be White who's gonna peel off the tough exterior and show us the puppy beneath? I'm gonna be so so UGHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGXTYG
4) white hair. Hawt. I think he's such a hottie. 🥺
5) Lot of people are now being hard on the mum . But i have a feeling that she's also on the activist side of things and maybe that's why the divorce happened?? And each get one child , but how did that work? I'm not clear on the thai laws on how that works . But if Black stayed with his mum like White stayed with his dad , won't he have walked in her path just like White chose to do with his dad ? I dunno , I'd like to see the mum again , her explaining the reaction by the pool coz , if it had been my children, I'd be making sure they got a warm blanket atleast.
5) Nepotism. Made me uncomfortable , the dad looks waayyy too comfortable in doing it that way. White wasn't complaining too. We're gonna soon see him get radicalised , i hope. can't wait.
6) i haven't read the novel, but i think he's gonna join the gang in their arson endeavours once they explain shit to him , or after he finds out on his own. Or maybe black tells him everything after waking up. I don't know .
7) None of them look like actual criminals , more like college students (seniors?) who are tough , but not strong. If someone with power tries hard enough , they'll all be dead. That's the vibe I'm getting. Anonymity is their best shield and they're trying their best to maintain it as it is
8) Also people were saying how the tatoos and piercing takes some time to heal. But... according to his gang wasn't Black missing for a few days? White got sick when Black was beaten up , went to the hospital and got a call when he was at the hospital. Which could mean that he took maybe 3 days to prepare for the gang to notice his absence?? I dunno. I'm just saying how it happened in my head to make sense of it all. But do tattoos heal in 3-4 days? But still , his preparations aren't all that.
9) which brings me to the next thought. White has been living in luxury his whole life. And looking at Black he doesn't look like that? And comfortable people have no reason to look at the struggles of the common people. We're gonna witness him (white) study about why the gang is the way they are , what Black did till now to help them and use his diplomatic skills to maybe trap the businessman who is actually the Big Bad ™️. I really hope he does this after he reveals to everyone that he's in fact White and not Black.
10) I also hope that once Black gets better , he takes on White's role as the diplomat in training coz if someone doesn't do that job , won't his dad and his collegues get notified????? Like ??? And Black could learn the ropes about how they resolve conflicts too. Which may help them too , in the long run?? Also it's not such a physical job so he can regain his strength while still contributing to the operation.
11) Also why didn't the dad or the mum notice?? Black is in the ICU. White got piercings and tatoos. Went to college instead of Black. Is the mother dead??

I’m literally pissed off.
We’re on episode 15 of the season. Out of 25. 10 more episodes to go.
The Joint Training Arc is 11 episodes long (counting the recap episode at the beginning of the season) and we’re currently on the 4th episode of the Endeavour Agency arc.
Next week, episode 16, is an anime-original. Filler. We still need to cover in this arc 1) the Todoroki Family Dinner 2) Ending (the villain) 3) Kurogiri (because that’s a part of the EA arc).
Including the filler that’s maybe another 2-3 episodes.
So let’s say the MVA arc starts on episode 18, worst case scenario.
THAT MEANS THE MVA ARC - THE ARC WITH ALL THE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT AND SET UP FOR THE FUCKING WAR ARC - WILL ONLY BE 8 EPISODES LONG, MAKING THE JOINT TRAINING ARC THE LONGEST ARC OF THE SEASON.
BONES. HEY BONES. WHAT THE FUCK.
Remember when people thought we’d have time for a backstory episode about Kurogiri

My Thoughts on the New MHA Opening and Ending
Tumblr media
I have thoughts, and I will share them because oh boy if I don’t get this out I’m gonna explode
Vague Spoilers for the manga (up to chapter 258 and vigilantes) because I discuss the upcoming arcs, but I don’t discuss any major plot points in detail. Still, proceed with caution if you’re anime only
Keep in mind, this OP and ED will cover the Endeavour Agency Arc and the MVA Arc, so I will be judging them accordingly.
First, the OP
Tumblr media
This is a good OP... in theory (that’s going to become my catchphrase for this post). It’s nice to look at and flows pretty well, but my biggest problem is that it doesn’t do it’s job. An OP is supposed to be a sort of... summary (?) of the Cour it plays for. That means any cool plot points, emotional beats, and important characters should be featured in some way, shape, or form. We’ll talk about that more later, but first let’s discuss the music.
The song is really good. I have a feeling it will continue to grow on me as I listen to it more often, but yeah my first impression is that the song sounds great. My only complaint about the music itself is that it ends kind of abruptly (I noticed this is the JT opening too). The previous openings used to have a bit of instrumental to “play us out” and lead us to the end card, but this one feels like it ends very suddenly and unnaturally.
As for the visuals...
Tumblr media
Yeah alright I’ll admit, the visuals are stunning... in theory. I appreciate the variety in backgrounds and colours, it makes the OP really interesting to look at. This was actually one of my biggest problems with the JT Opening, it all took place on the training grounds, so there was no variety (everything was metal tubes with a blue sky, with only 3 shots set somewhere different). I appreciate the style of this OP.
But like I said, that’s only in theory, as in, through screenshots these are all pleasing to look at. The pacing of this OP is wild, and I truly don’t know who to blame for this.
That sunset shot above? It lasts approximately 12 seconds, zooming in every few to make it seem like something is happening (when in reality it’s still the same poses, angles, etc). While there’s nothing wrong with a nice, drawn out shot, it becomes irritating when compared to the pacing of the rest of this op.
Tumblr media
At the 41 second mark, we are given the shot above. It has flowed directly from the previous sunset scene. We still have not moved away from the image of the trio (aside from the opening shot and the title card) yet we’re approaching the halfway mark of the OP.
Tumblr media
The next shot is the MLA, which lasts about 5 seconds. Ok, perfect. Not too long, but also not short enough to be confusing. It cuts away a little fast once the dude on the far left appears, but does anyone actually know who that is? No, seriously, I’m asking. I don’t remember his name and he’s not on the wiki, so I can only assume he’s not important. Therefore, it’s not all that bad if the shot cuts away shortly after he comes into frame. The audience is able to take in the scene without having to pause...
Tumblr media
... And then the problems start
While this shot is fine in theory, it pans up fast and  cuts away quickly. You know how hard it was for me to get this screenshot? Really hard. You want to know why I struggled so much? Because, due to the timing of the cut and the way it pans upwards, it’s almost impossible to pause on Dabi’s face. I literally had to go frame by frame to get it, because he’s in shot for so little time that naturally pausing is guaranteed to miss him.
When watching this in real time (without pausing) the cut away makes you feel as if you missed something because “something was there, I just couldn’t register what because now it’s gone”. Unlike Compress, who wears a very colourful coat you can recognize the entire time, Dabi’s pants are more blended into the background.
It also doesn’t help that this shot is literally composed to draw your attention away from Dabi until the last possible second. Due to framing, your eye is naturally drawn to the brightly coloured Toga in the foreground, making it super easy to miss Dabi in the back (until, of course, his bright face appears and contrasts against the background, drawing your eye just in time for the scene to change, leaving you to wonder who or what you missed).
I know this sounds like nitpicking, but this shot is the only group shot we get of the League, and is also the start of a seriously weird trend for the villains in this OP getting the short end of the stick.
Tumblr media
Anyways, then we get what I’ll call “The Carousel Shot” in which every Class 1A kid shows up and poses dramatically, as if they were on a carousel. It’s a lovely sequence and I really enjoy watching it but... why is it in this OP?
Seriously, this is a genuine question. Class 1A barely shows up in the Endeavour Agency Arc, and NONE of the students are in MVA. This sequence (not counting the three boys at the end) lasts 8 seconds. Why is this much time dedicated to characters who are barely in the arc? (Unless Studio Bones extends their work studies into fuller plot lines which oh my gosh please don’t do that, or if they do, do it quick).
Tumblr media
We then get what I call the “Oh God I Blinked And Missed Everything” sequence, which lasts 3 seconds (not including the longer, moving shot of Shigaraki at the end) and features NINE INDIVIDUAL IMAGES, none of which are related to each other. Not only is this 3 images per second, but the fact that they are all unrelated means you can’t even use previous information to fill in the blanks.
What do I mean by that? Well, imagine if I show you 9 images of various pro heroes posing. If I play that in 3 seconds you’ll absolutely miss some of them, but as long as you catch some you’ll still get an idea of what I’m trying to show to you. Your brain is able to fill in the gaps that “I recognized 4 pro heroes, therefore the rest must have also been pros” even if you didn’t register every single frame.
That doesn’t work if every frame features a completely different subject. The shots in this sequence vary so widely that it’s impossible to find a through line. Some feature multiple characters, some feature one, some are closeups, some are super far away, some are character’s we know, others are characters we don’t. It’s impossible to get a solid read on what you’re being shown.
Now, again, there’s nothing wrong with these super quick shots... in theory. The problem comes from the fact that these shots are the only indicators for some of the major themes that will be explored during this Cour (like Twice’s growth and young Shigaraki).
That being said, let’s move away from criticism and talk about speculation, because hidden amongst this sequence are two... interesting images.
Tumblr media
This All Might one is very reminiscent of the shot in Chapter 257, where Aizawa and All Might have a conversation while staring up at the stars. However, this is technically the start of the “War Arc” (or the “prologue”, if that’s what you want to call it), so this might indicate that we’re going to get farther into the series than a lot of us guessed.
(Many people suspected we’d get to that cliffhanger at the start of the season (if you read the manga you know the one), but after seeing the pacing for JT a lot of us assumed we’d be lucky to even finish Endeavour Agency. It seems we’re back to the cliffhanger now though lol).
Tumblr media
This is another really interesting shot because it’s indicative of Shirakumo, meaning we might get to see Aizawa and Mic confront him some time this Cour (this also makes sense, since this confrontation technically happens before that All Might scene I mentioned in the previous paragraph).
But the cat specifically is a really strange addition. That cat is named Sushi and, correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think Sushi is ever mentioned in the main series. I think he’s only in Vigilantes.
This might just be a little Easter Egg for Vigilante readers, but I’m personally hoping that they’ll add at least a few Vigilante shots in there to really tug at the heart strings. I’d say I want a whole Vigilante episode but I don’t think they have the time (unless they really cram MVA, which I do NOT want).
Tumblr media
I don’t have much to say about the last bit of the OP. The action shot between the 3 boys was nice, and it follows the sort of narrative through line they established from the early shot of them sitting at the sunset. I also like the shot of Endeavour fading in to replace All Might, even if it’s very simple.
Tumblr media
But I want to talk about an overarching problem I touched upon earlier in that villain shot: the way the villains are handled in this OP.
This is a good OP... in theory. The problem is, it doesn’t represent half the arcs in the cour! Every shot of the League is so rushed that you can barely register that they were on screen before they’re gone.
I have no idea how many Episodes Endeavour Agency will take, but I’d assume 3 (4 if you count the Christmas episode). 12 episodes for this Cour minus 3 for Endeavour Agency = 9 episodes left. If we truly do get the prologue for the War Arc (and if we assume it’s only 1 episode) that leaves us with 8 villains episodes.
8/12 episodes (aka two thirds of the Cour) will likely be about the villains. And yet they’re pushed to the background so hard in this OP.
I want to dream, and I want to believe that this OP is going to magically change when MVA starts. The song fits super well, and I can imagine like an inversion of the OP but from the Villain side! Wouldn’t that be neat? Imagine right after the “it’s alright” part Shigaraki just freaking decays the title card... oh man that would be so cool. But, alas, I highly doubt they’d do that.
Side rant, but you know what was so fun about MVA in the manga? It’s that, for 21 chapters, we leave the kids behind and the villains become our protagonists. Suddenly Shigaraki is the one we’re rooting for, suddenly we’re learning backstories for everyone, and suddenly we find ourselves just as attached to the villains as we are to the kids. It’s an inversion that’s SO RARE to find, and I think many people (myself included) were hoping it would be reflected in the OP.
A big part of being the protagonist means featuring heavily in the OP, and a lot of us just wanted the villains to get that honour, even if only once. As is, the OP still treats them as the antagonists when... really they aren’t. Not right now, at least.
Tumblr media
So yeah, final thoughts on the OP are that it’s good, it’s just not very representative of the arcs it’s supposed to cover. If this was just for Endeavour Agency, I’d say it’s actually really cool, but if we assume that this is what will play for the Villain Arc, then it simply doesn’t do it’s job. And it makes me sad to say that because, again, this OP is really well done.
If I had to rate it? Hmmm
If Studio Bones actually grants my wish and creates a different visual for the Villain Arc (while using the same song) and then this version only plays for the Endeavour Agency Arc and the War Prologue? I’d give it an 8/10. It’s really good, but it could use a few more elements that are clearly derived from the Agency Arc (ahem, Todoroki siblings).
But if this is the OP that will play for the entire Cour? a 6.5/10. It’s nice, but it’s not representative of one of the arcs it’s going to cover. And, unlike other arcs like Pro Hero or Summer Exams, the villain Arc is so important and takes up so much time that it honestly feels like a bit of a disservice.
Now for the Ending
Tumblr media
I want to say that I appreciate how soft this ending starts. This cour will likely feature a lot of episodes that end on... heavier themes, and I think the sight of peaceful, falling raindrops is the perfect way to let the audience process their emotions before starting the ending in earnest.
The song itself is very nice, and I like that it’s a bit slower than the more recent endings.
(Side note, but the FUNNIEST moment in the entire series is when Sir Nighteye dies because it’s so emotional and everyone is standing around his bed in his heartwrentching silence, only for the ending to come BLARING IN out of no where. If you forgot how jarringly hilarious it was, go listen to the Eri ending and tell me that’s not the funniest thing this series ever did. Anyways yeah I’m glad that’s not gonna happen this Cour).
Tumblr media
This ending is a bit all over the place in terms of it’s visuals, but honestly I think it works. Most endings usually have a theme tying them together (all the Class 1A girls, a fantasy AU, old photographs, planning a party, etc) but this ending’s theme is a bit harder to identify.
That being said, I think it’s just supposed to show everyone going about their day. It’s calm, it’s peaceful, and it’s just very sweet to think about
Tumblr media
I like this shot. Actually, scratch that, I like this whole sequence. I enjoy anything that allows Class 1A to chill and have fun.
Tumblr media
Hawks is featured quite heavily in this ending which, fair. He’s pretty important in this arc.
I really love the shot where Endeavour immediately switches to Hawks, I thought that was a lot of fun, and very good symbolism on how Hawks wants to be like Endeavour. I also love all the shots of Baby Hawks, because it’s adorable.
Tumblr media
Something about this shot is just so cute. It’s the little domestic things like waiting for a bus that make this ending feel... idk the word, real? It shows a side of the characters that we’ll never see in the episodes, but we know have to exist.
Like yes, of course the kids have to wait for the bus. We never see it, but of course there are those moments of quiet. Agh, I love it.
Tumblr media
The villains also make an appearance and I’m very happy about that (I’d love to see more of the villains just chilling around, I think they deserve it). I kind of wish they weren’t sitting in a dark room for the sake of being edgy, since I think it would be nice to see the villains just... sort of existing, but honestly it’s still a nice shot. I also like how this shot sort of mirrors the first one with Class 1A (someone coming in while everyone else is sitting and waiting for them).
Tumblr media
That being said, as much as I love looking at Dabi and his stupid face (affectionate)... why is Dabi the one getting the closeup?
Mind you, endings don’t need to be connected to their Cours (they can be, like the Eri one, but they don’t have to be). But this ending does seem to be connected to the arcs it intends to cover, given all the Hawks appearances, the boys wearing their work study scarves, etc.
So, I ask again, why Dabi? Out of the six League members, we learn the backstory for four of them in this arc (Shigaraki, Toga, Twice, and we very briefly learn about Spinner). The only two left out are Dabi and Compress.
I can only assume they chose Dabi because he’s constantly in contact with Hawks, and therefore that makes him important? If the OP told us anything, it’s that Bones values the Endeavour Agency Arc over the Villain Arc lol...
... Oh my gosh please tell me that’s not actually the reason Dabi is focused on here BONES WAI-
Tumblr media
Anyways, the ending comes to a close with Hawks watching over the kids and Endeavour. The relaxing time is done, it’s time for work studies.
Overall impression? It’s great. It’s hard to screw up an ending, so as long as you have something pretty on screen, it’s wonderful.
I’ll give this a 9/10

Note
Was episode 3 of series 8 the last EVER episode of Endeavour? I hope not. I'm sure they still have more stories for rest of the 70s and early 80s?
They haven't confirmed anything yet! I personally think we need at least 1 more season to tie up loose ends. But there hasn't been any formal announcement.
You are not alone! I think everyone is sort of holding their breath and waiting!

Endeavour Theory: Has Morse Already Crossed Paths With Nemesis Hugo de Vries?
https://ift.tt/3ivQyUa
Warning: contains spoilers for Endeavour Series 7 and Inspector Morse episode ‘Masonic Mysteries’.
There’s a beauty to mystery that could hardly be lost on fans of Endeavour, a series with playfulness in its bones, as evidenced by its regular tips of the hat to pop culture and Morse creator Colin Dexter. The show’s viewers understand that ambiguities deliberately positioned as such should be allowed to stand, unaccosted by any fun-sucking need for certainty. We’re not here to unweave rainbows or clip angel wings.
That said, Endeavour does love a game, and its fans love to play along. So while appreciating that some things are destined to rightly remain in the hazy hinterland of maybe, let’s play. The name of this game? Find Hugo de Vries!
Played by Ian McDiarmid in Inspector Morse Series 4 episode ‘Masonic Mysteries’ (1990), Hugo de Vries is a fan-favourite villain in the world of Morse. Erudite and cultured with a love of classical music, he has much in common with the detective, as is fitting for any two nemeses. A great difference of course, is that de Vries is a diabolical killer utterly without conscience.
Ian McDiarmid as Hugo de Vries in Inspector Morse Series 4 episode ‘Masonic Mysteries’
In de Vries’ one and only Inspector Morse appearance, Morse finds himself framed for the murder of a woman from his choir, which is staging a production of Mozart’s The Magic Flute. After the murder, Morse finds almost £100,000 transferred to his bank account from the charity administrated by the victim. Morse’s personal file on the police computer is hacked to insert a fictional past event in which he supposedly attacked a woman, and his guvnor – McNutt at the time – covered it up. His home is set on fire, he’s pulled over and breathalysed after an anonymous complaint is made about his erratic driving, his Jag is vandalised with masonic symbols and McNutt’s dead body is discovered in his bathroom. All of it, realises an increasingly unhinged Morse, is the work of de Vries, who’s borne a grudge against Morse since his sergeant days.
Endeavour being the story of those very days, Inspector Morse fans have been watching the prequel closely for a cameo by the younger Hugo de Vries. After another ‘Masonic Mysteries’ character, Marion Brooke, turned up in Series 3’s ‘Arcadia’, Endeavour writer Russell Lewis was asked in this 2017 interview whether Endeavour would one day bump into de Vries. Lewis replied, “Each thing in its season. I shouldn’t be surprised to see him sooner or later.”
Jump forward four years to a post-Series Eight finale exchange on Twitter when Lewis is asked the same question. The writer’s answer this time is more playful. “Ah, Hugo. Who can say if he hasn’t already crossed our path? He might well have done, of course. On the other hand… ‘Now you see him, now you don’t. That’s de Vries all right’.”
Ryan Gage as Ludo Talenti in Endeavour Series 7
In the spirit of investigation, let’s assess the evidence. Is Lewis just teasing or has Hugo de Vries already crossed our path in Endeavour, namely in the form of Ryan Gage’s Series Seven villain Ludo Talenti?
That name alone may contain all the clue we need. Not only do Hugo and Ludo bear more than a glancing resemblance, but the latter in Latin is the first person of the verb ‘to play’. ‘I play… many talents’ would be an inelegant translation. A better one might include the possible allusion to Patricia Highsmith’s famous conman Tom Ripley, given the epithet ‘Talented’ in his first appearance. Like Ripley, both Hugo and Ludo are master manipulators who charm and inveigle their way to wealth, leaving a trail of bodies in their wake.
To jog the memory, Ludo recurred throughout Series Seven, initially presenting himself as a university contemporary of Morse’s who ran into him after Morse’s wallet was lifted at a garden concert (almost certainly a ruse designed to engineer the ‘accidental’ meeting). Ludo befriended Morse and the pair bonded over a shared love of opera. Ludo’s family is in shipping, he tells Morse, and he travels around raising money for their charitable fund, driven by a pursuit of music and beautiful women.

Endeavour: The Beautiful Poignancy of Series 8’s Last Lines
By Louisa Mellor
When Morse asks him which country he’s from, Ludo is coy, preferring to say he is a “man of the world.” He later tells a childhood story about life during Nazi occupation, which throws up various suggestions but like so much Ludo says, that could well be fiction. For what it’s worth, the saying he cites as from his country, “Do not praise a day before sunset,” is Polish. And what of Hugo de Vries’ nationality? Ian McDiarmid’s accent in ‘Masonic Mysteries’ is difficult to place, though the name is Dutch (borrowed from a famous botanist), and he faked his death in prison in Sweden. (Ludo incidentally tells Morse that he posed as a Swedish policeman on the phone once to track the detective down.) Ludo’s name, it’s revealed in the Series 7 finale, was taken from the gravestone of a 16th century priest on Venice’s San Michele cemetery island.
Ludo Talenti’s priest namesake revealed in Endeavour’s Series 7 finale
To tot up the similarities so far, that’s two criminals, of indiscriminate European origin, around Morse’s age, fluent in the language of classical music and opera, living under assumed names. Both also share a snobbish disdain for the police. Ludo expressed surprise that a man as cultured as Morse would be “a lumpen, plodding petty official” while Hugo sneered at Morse’s colleagues going about in pairs “like low comedians.” They also share a similarly rarefied, Bond Villain-ish way of speaking (Every man has his price, every man, I shall make it my life’s business to find yours,”), and express the same nihilistic attitude. “Life, death, rich, poor, it’s all a roll of the dice, Morse, there’s no reason to any of it,” says Ludo, foreshadowing Hugo’s words when he forces Morse to his knees at gunpoint in ‘Masonic Mysteries’. “He was clever, you see,” Inspector Morse tells Lewis in that episode, “he took one look and knew your weakness right away.” In Series 7, Ludo jokes to Morse that he will find his weakness and exploit it without mercy to his own ends.
What else? The nature of their crimes. In ‘Masonic Mysteries’ Morse tells Lewis that his past encounter with de Vries saw him con Oxford University out of millions of pounds. His scam had a kind of poetry to it – posing as the heir to a Swedish armaments manufacturer, de Vries proposed the building of an institute for peace studies. His later scheme involved stealing money from Marion Brooke’s charitable foundation to frame Morse.
Paperwork from Ludo’s life insurance policy scam. Note the signature.
Ludo’s Series 7 scheme was less poetic, but of a similar flavour. He bought up life insurance policies of people looking for a quick pay out, killed them, cashed in, and disguised the deaths as freak accidents. One such victim was poor Carrie Bright, the cancer-suffering wife of ACC Bright. (In a rather baroque twist, the initials of the locations for each murder spelled out the name L.U.D.O.). Both men wore disguises to do their evil work – de Vries posed as a homeless man to murder Morse’s former guvnor McNutt, and Talenti posed as a healer to gain access to the Bright home and sabotage their Christmas lights, causing Mrs Bright’s death by electrocution. Note in the image above the name of the Executive Director of Ludo’s fake company ‘California Amenity Redemption and Disbursement’ (or C.A.R.D, perhaps another game-play reference…) in the signature on one of his victim’s letters: E. De Vere?
Hugo and Ludo didn’t work alone on their devilish schemes, they each had a female accomplice. Hugo’s was the aforementioned Marion Brooke, a devotee who shared his revenge obsession (Hugo’s the kind of man who makes women kick off their shoes and men open their chequebooks when he enters a room, Morse once told Lewis). Ludo’s was Violetta (played by Stephanie Leonidas), who started a passionate affair with Morse during his holiday in Venice. In the Series 7 denouement, Ludo says that he picked Violetta from the streets when she was 15 years old and “gave her the world,” forcing her to become his co-conspirator in the life insurance murders and the plan to make Morse his “pet policeman”.
On the subject of having police officers in your pocket, Hugo de Vries’ association with Morse’s longstanding adversaries the Masons mustn’t be forgotten. De Vries taunted Morse with his masonic connections, through Mozart’s freemason-themed opera The Magic Flute. There’s no evidence that Ludo Talenti was involved with the freemasons yet, but Endeavour viewers know that they’re in full operation in Oxford at the time.
Endeavour Morse attends ‘The Demon’s Wife’ opera in Venice
Endeavour and Violetta met at a performance of ‘La Sposa del Demonio’ in Venice, an operatic work by Endeavour composer Matthew Slater, which translates fittingly as ‘The Demon’s Wife’. Demons come up a great deal around Talenti and de Vries. “There speaks a devil sick of sin,” Ludo says to Endeavour. “There may not be a devil, but there’s devilry alright, and de Vries…” says Inspector Morse, walking away from Hugo’s burial and doubting whether or not he’s really in the coffin. (De Vries’ name, cryptic crossword fans can’t ignore, shares its first three letters with ‘devil’). And perhaps it just suited his complexion, but Ludo wears deep red numerous times in Series 7, perhaps in echo to de Vries’ burgundy shirt in his sole appearance.
Speaking of that Venetian denouement, did Ludo not die after being shot by Fred Thursday and falling into a canal, putting the kibosh on the ‘Ludo is Hugo’ theory? Well, he was certainly shot, and he certainly did fall into the canal, but did he die, or did that devil live to return and torment Morse under a new name in future adventures? You’ve heard the evidence. What’s your verdict?
cnx.cmd.push(function() { cnx({ playerId: "106e33c0-3911-473c-b599-b1426db57530", }).render("0270c398a82f44f49c23c16122516796"); });
Endeavour Series 8 is available to stream on ITV Hub and Britbox.

Top 10 Friendships Involving POC from 10 Different Fandoms
I've forgotten who tagged me in this because I left it so long, I am so sorry!! But thank you!!
1. Scott McCall & Lydia Martin (Teen Wolf)
Tumblr media
Just - have you seen them?? Yes, I do ship them, but on the show their friendship is the purest thing I've ever seen. They grew so much over the show, and how close they became to how far apart they were in the first season?? I love good development!
2. Kaleb Hawkins & Hope Mikaelson (Legacies)
Tumblr media
They come out of nowhere, I KNOW, but even with their limited interactions, they're hilarious and pure, and I just adore them?? Especially in the new episode: mild spoiler, but the way he smiles at her and moves out of the way so she can see Landon while singing makes my heart cry.
3. Crash Watkins & Jackie Hopper (The Story of Tracy Beaker)
I can't find a gif but I promise you they are Precious. They're just always there for each other, and they're so sweet, and just !! Watch The Story of Tracy Beaker for them, I beg of you!!
4. Julie Molina & Reggie Peters (Julie and the Phantoms)
Tumblr media
THEY MAKE MY HEART HAPPY. LOOK AT THEM!! THEY ROCK OUT TOGETHER AND BOUNCE AROUND TOGETHER WHILE SINGING AND I LOVE THEM.
5. Tyler Lewis & Jody Jackson (The Dumping Ground)
Tumblr media
I am well aware that I am cheating here because they are also a couple on the show BUT they are best friends first and foremost, so they still absolutely count! They have been pranking and schemeing together since they were like ten!! Watch The Dumping Ground for them, I also beg of you!!
6. Bonnie Bennett & Tyler Lockwood (The Vampire Diaries)
Tumblr media
I don't know when or why I decided that I love this friendship that practically doesn't exist, but I do, and I'm okay with it!
7. Kyle Valenti & Liz Ortecho (Roswell, New Mexico)
Tumblr media
Once again: I'm aware this is technically cheating because they are a Former Flame, an Ex Thing, a Past Romantic Endeavour. Do I care? No, because they are very pure and sweet and their interactions are hilarious.
8. Stick Goldstein & Ashley Garcia (The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia)
Tumblr media
I just think they're an adorable nerd + disaster combination!
9. Zay Babineaux & Maya Hart (Girl Meets World)
Tumblr media
You see them, right? You see these idiots? I love them a lot! They have no right to be as funny and cute as they are all of the time, and yet!!
10. Mazikeen x Trixie Espinoza (Lucifer)
Tumblr media
Do I even need to explain how precious this friendship is? They just Are. This demon has adopted this child, and that is that.
Tagging @childofsquidward @bhenchod @pad-foots @dance-is-life27 and whoever else wants to do it!!

TV meme
Tagged by @themalhambird. Thankee kindly. :)
Pick 5 shows, then answer the following questions. Tag 10 (or however many) people.
1. Endeavour 2. Father Brown 3. MST3K 4. Horrible Histories 5. Dickensian
Who is your favourite character in 2?
Aw no, that’s not fair! It’s one of those I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS BAR kinda series. Though it’s probably a tie between Father Brown and Flambeau. The Padre’s just such a good, and Flambeau is so… him. XD
Who is your least favourite character in 1?
The Talentis. (Yeah, I’m treating them as a single unit.) I don’t care about them, they were too Obviously Evil to bother caring about, and I’m miffed that so much of series 7 was turned over to their subplot, at the expense of the characters and relationships I actually give a damn about. (like, y’know, Morse and Thursday’s much-hinted break…)
What is your favourite episode of 4?
How can I pick just one?! I’ll say the first episode of series 3, just because I still have good memories of watching it, then instantly coming onto Tumblr to join in as we all collectively lost it over Dick Turpin. That was… a day. XD
What is your favourite season of 5?
Considering there is only one… x___x
Who is your favourite couple in 3?
I kinda have a thing for Joel/Dr. Forrester. Don’t look at me like that.
Also Ben Murphy/Buffalo Bill from Riding With Death are the true otp.
Who is your favourite couple in 2?
Actually, I got quite invested in some of the one-episode couples. I really liked the bluestocking and her landed gentry fiancé in The Labyrinth of the Minotaur. Also the bell-ringing ladies from series 7 were sweet.
What is your favourite episode of 1?
Probably still Fugue, even now. That one is just *French chef kiss* perfection.
What is your favourite episode of 5?
I think it might be a tie between 18 - Inspector Bucket at his best - or 12, for the shipping feels. (Also, episode 16 is superb, but I’d hesitate to call it a favourite...)
What is your favourite season of 2?
Oof! Hard to say. We’ve just finished bingeing all 8 series one after the other, so I’m not really sure where one series ends and the other begins! XD
How long have you watched 1?
About… two years now?
How did you become interested in 3?
I was in fandom back in the days when dinosaurs roamed the earth and MST-ing fics was a recognised form of snark. When I found out the term came from a TV series centred around making fun of terrible old movies, I had to know more!
Who is your favourite actor in 4?
Aw man, I can’t answer that!! I pretty much think of the idiots as a single madcap entity by now. :P
Maybe… maybe Jim Howick. But you’d really have to squeeze my arm to the point of agony to get me to choose a single favourite.
Which do you prefer, 1, 2, or 5?
…No, that’s too hard. They’re all such different shows.
Which show have you seen more episodes of, 1 or 3?
MST3K. I set myself the challenge year before last to finally watch the whole of the original 10 series, not just the same few I always watch. Long story short: I did it. I think my brain is permanently melted, but I did it. XD
If you could be anyone from 4, who would you be?
Bwahaha! Ideally nobody. The show tends to concentrate on people who had miserable times of it, after all. Might be fun being Death, though. He at least gets a ready source of entertainment!
Would a crossover between 3 and 4 work?
Heh, I can see it. Who would your ideal HH snark trio be? Ratttus Rattus, Death, and Bob Hale would be mine. Or the HMS Angstalot trio. Imagine the carnage. XD
Pair two characters in 1 who would make an unlikely but strangely okay couple?
MORSE AND STRANGE MORSE AND STRANGE MORSE AND STRANGE I WILL DIE ON THIS HILL MORSE AND STRANGE MORSE AND STR—
*ahem* Shipping feels aside, I’m also very much here for the idea of Strange/Joan.
Overall, which show has the better storyline, 3 or 5?
Dickensian. Much as I love MST3K, you can’t really beat a murder mystery mash-up of Dickens novels.
Which has better theme music, 2 or 4?
TERRIBLE TUDORS GORGEOUS GEORGIANS SLIMY STUARTS VILE VICTORIANS WOEFUL WARS FEROCIOUS FIGHTS DINGY CASTLES DARING KNIGHTS!!! HORRORS THAT DEFY DESCRIPTION CUT-THROAT CELTS AWFUL EGYPTIANS VICIOUS VIKINGS CRUEL CRIME PUNishMENTS froM ANCienT TimES ROMANS ROTTEN RANK AND RUTHLESS CAVEMEN SAVAGE FEARSOME TOOTHLESS GROOVY GREEKS BRAINY SAGES MEANANDMEASLYMIDDLEAGES
GORY STORIES WE DO THAT AND YOUR HOST A TALKING RAT THE. PAST. IS. NO. LONG. GER. A. MYST. ‘RY. WELCOME TO HOOOORRIBLE HISTORIIIIIIEEEEES
*cough* That is to say… yeah. XD
I tag: @amine-eyes, @fandom-butterfly, @bryndeavour, @rosncrntz, @vicivefallen, @geekbehindtheglasses, @sewingfrommagic, @technicallycleverdetective, @pythionice, @thebeautifulsoup

Note
are there only three episodes of morse this time or have I lost count
Tumblr media
it's chill XD
yeah there's only 3 this time, sad times. if season 8 is the last season, then that might have 3 as well to fulfill the 33 theory (which would explain why this one has 3, so it can be 3 and 3 rather than 4 and 2 (imagine a season of 2 episodes, rip)
but regarding the 33 theory, one of my friends suggested that endeavour might actually have 34 episodes since then there would be exactly 100 morseverse stories?

BnHA 84 - 86 | Uchitama 9 - 12 (FINAL) | Eizouken 10 - 12 (FINAL) | Magia Record 8 - 13 (FINAL) | ID: INVADED 12 - 13 (FINAL) | ACCA OVA
BnHA 84
Ey? So Gentle is basically Luffy, only he can do stuff with air too.
“Tokoyami, it’s in lesson 3.”
Eizouken 10
LOL, you can see a name similar to “Rachel Enyoung Choi” in one of the credit lists. Update: Euyoung Choi is credited on one of the other folders.
“Kanamoney” is catching on, I see.
“Well, dough.” - Sarasoju, where soju is some alcoholic Korean beverage.
The back of the clock reminds me of that Skipper and Skeeto game I used to play.
Did Kanamori get a fringe cut…?
You can see the symbol for Eizouken on the (imaginary…?) warehouse.
Uchitama 9
The video got encoded funny again…
I‘ve heard of AIBOs before. They’re robotic dogs, although with newfangled drones, Google Nests and stuff, they went out of fashion years ago.
Aibou (with kanji) means “partner”, come to think of it...
While everyone else is talking in the foreground, I’m staring at Beh in the background…
Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve seen Kuro and Nora interact all that much.
Natsuki Hanae as Leo, huh?
Uchitama 10
Second-last episode!
Neko (cat) -> Koma -> ari (ant)…isu (chair) -> suika (watermelon) -> tamago (egg, or sometimes it sounds like tabako/tabacco to me) -> ??? -> koi (carp) -> ???? “Kooten” seems to be a nonsense word.
The video got encoded funny again…
…and that’s twice now…
LOL, this is based on Millionaire.
…thrice…
The original quote is (something like), “It is said that heaven does not create one man above or below another man.” (Yukichi Fukuzawa)
The answer was C, obviously.
…4 times.
Bull does his best Thinker impression.
Oh my gosh, they’re bringing that joke back…? (LOL) Update: The portal joke.
“chunk of meat” – Uh…what?
Holy s***! It’s Bull’s dad! Bull time travelled!
Magia Record 8
I like how the anime introduced Gomakashi, then had the proper OP.
Chuo Ward (Chuoku)? In Hypnosis Mic, that’s a sign Ayappe is definitely a girl…but this ain’t HypMic, so no worries!
The greeting is “Kamihama” because it sounds kind of like konbanwa and the host is Mr Hammer because that sounds like the back half of Kamihama, I guess.
Magia Record seems more overt about its lesbian undertones, I see.
I noticed a piano on a poster in the back. Wonder what that means…?
Just reading translations of radio transcripts like this makes me think of the HypMic radio show. I’ve been using that (and all of HypMic, to be honest) to cope in these tough (COVID-19) times, which is why I’m mentioning it a lot.
Mami!
Eizouken 11
So this is how they met, huh? I never knew Kanamori could have such little faith in people, considering how she is now.
ID:INVADED 12
What I don’t get is Hayaseura’s motive…
Uraido…”from behind”? I need kanji to figure this one out…
Whose well is this Bliss background, ayway…?
Momoki and Matsuoka pass a sign saying 大井南 (Minamioi), which is in Shinagawa.
Why does Momoki need drugs…? To subdue Asukai…?
Oh no. Inami is going to have a vendetta after her man was killed!
According to Ramuda, the optimist sees the doughnut, the pessimist sees the hole…I think’s that’s important for that moment.
…Welp, when a hole in the brain doesn’t kill you, a shot to the stomach does.
In this time of COVID-19, I think talking about people coming back to life is inappropriate…
Post-credits segment!
Uchitama 11 (FINAL)
According to Ramuda, the optimist sees the doughnut, the pessimist sees the hole…
“Tullip” (sic).
Oh, so instead of “Tama” it said “tanu___”, so the kids assumed it said “tanuki”.
Ooh, cat meeting. This should match the dog meeting from earlir in the season. Plus Nora’s face on the title card.
The video got encoded funny again…
“I’m busy right now.” – Nora, sleeping – Yup, that’s my mood. In fact, I was woken up by a call this morning…
I still think the Momo x Bull ship is stupid…
Nora can talk to crows…?
BnHA 85
…huh? What’s up with Bibimi?
Oh, in La Brava’s room there’s a graduation album. No one translated that.
Seriously, Deku’s gotten kinda creepy these days…
Tobita = essentially “to fly” + “field”. Makes sense when the Quirk is elasticity.
“It’s dangerous to go alone!” – I want to reply with “Take this!”…LOL.
This bouncing around thing was basically done by Sonic in OPM.
Update:  Turns out the kanji for elasticity is read dansei, which is th same rading for the characters for a man (but with characters meaning “male gender” instead and the last kanji being shared betwe the two). That’s why Danjuro is Gentle Criminal.
BnHA 85
I noticed some of the decorations around the school look like heroes we’ve seen – there’s a Midnight one and a Thirteen balloon.
Why is the crowd chanting for YaoMomo…?
It’s in English, huh?
End of credits segment! Keep watching!
“Guys like you who say there are no do-overs in life…”
Hawks! This is the first time I see him outside spoilers!
ID:INVADED 13 (FINAL)
Was gonna finish this the day I got it, but I got access (limited to 1 week)…to Akira, which is a movie I’ve never seen before.
The sharks are a nice touch…(LOL…?)
Welp, John Walker has his hat back now.
Uraido…Hayaseura. Of course, how the heck did I not make the connection?!
The video got encoded funny again…
…wow, after learning a thing or two about CPR, this part actually makes sense to me now…Amazing. (Also, I learnt about comminuted fractures from Double Decker.)
COVID-19 is entering these notes too…because if you cut yourself off from society, you won’t know about pandemics…
Why do I get the feeling Kiki’s gonna kill herself…?
She…almost did it. (Wow, I should try predict things more often.)
That pool…is basically the one from Minority Report!
Wow, that just did an Eva…
Why did they choose such a lively ending song…? Anyways, that wrapped up really well (no pun intended!). See you next time!
Magia Record 9
The tower appars to be modelled more after Tsutenkaku rather than Tokyo Tower.
For some reason, the subbers like to capitalise “Magical Girl”.
One of the speech bubbles in the back says koneko no gorogoro, or “the cat’s laziness”.
“Stand alone!” This is probably some kind of wordplay on the Solitude (Hitoribocchi no Saihate), since “alone” is hitori de.
Interestingly, the word for “delete” here is keshite (literal meaning: “to erase”).
The sign that passes Sana by while she’s on the boat says “Futaba” on it.
The blue letterboxing is an interesting effect.
“Sorpredente” = surprising.
Eizouken 12 (FINAL)
“They have their own business to run.”
I’ll miss this OP song when it’s gone…*sigh*
LOL, the contrast between Asakusa’s imagination and reality is huge and that’s what makes Eizouken so fun.
“I’m here to deliver the promised data,” Kanamori says (which I think is a more literal translation, ut works better).
It’s unfortunate Comiket 98 was cancelled…
Hey, why didn’t Anime vs. Real Life cover Eizouken?! That would’ve been so good!
I noticed one of the viewers had a “No Disc” pop-up of some sort. Also, the moving logo exists now, too (LOL).
I like how 1 of the UFOs hits the windshield.
The arrows really bring your attention to what’s the same in the split screens.
Magia Record 10
The Mifuyu in the previous episodes was either a flashback or a fantasy, right?
Mami is wearing a Wings of Magius badge…!
On the titlecard, there’s what seems to be a radio tower with a small lightning bolt above it.
BnHA 86
Hey, Tsu has a sister..?
Ah,so this is Mirko! I’ve heard of her too!
Is it just me, or does Endeavour hav CGI on him…?
Hawks reminds me of Fubuki from OPM…
Wow, even Endeavour’s trying to be funny…the world really is different now. (This humour has a terrible success rate with me, though.)
There seem to be holes in Hawks’ jackt for his wings.
So basically, Hawks is being the Iori to Endeavour’s Riku (but without too much of the homoerotic overtones that come from being close in age, since Endeavour is 46 – 7 and Hawks is 22), so to speak.
Oh! That punch is based on All Might’s! Same framing and everything!
Hajimari no doesn’t suggest a pronoun, so they must have chosen that based on the manga or the production company or something.
Magia Record 11
Shaft headtilt!
This Witch…apparently it appears early on in the OG series according to This Week in Anime. It does give off that vibe.
…wow, that fight was fast.
The video got encoded funny again…
Why are all the magical girls Naruto running???
Hachibey = Kyubey (where kyu = 9), but for 8.
ACCA OVA
Who’s this-oh, never mind.
I don’t remember the OST being so…cool.
Jumo, where ju = tree I guss.
Nino! Who’s the blonde though? I forget…
Jumo for Jumoku…right. I forgot.
Shinro, literally “path of advancement”. I’ve grown a lot since I last watched ACCA, but I only feel I’ve gotten dumber since then…to be honest.
I like how the flashback is saturated in blue…actually, that reminds me of Given, now that I think of it.
Where’s Grossular? I liked him the best because he’s basically older!Kyosuke Kuga. Update: Spoke too soon.
Now that I’ve learnt keigo between the OG and now, I can understand more of what Mauve says.
Magia Record 12
(no notes, sorry!)
Magia Record 13 (FINAL)
Is it just me, or can I see a feather-like object floating down the screen…? (Or is that static?)
You can see one of the hooded Wings (on Touka’s left) has dark blue hair – roughly Sayaka’s shade.
Ooh, Mami and Sayaka fight! (I’ve never been one for catfights, but this is certainly a match-up I want to see!)
Mami’s fate really sucks, huh? Her head came off in the OG and now she’s a tool for the Magius…
Yachiyo does look a lot like Togo from Yuki Yuna, doesn’t she…?
Anyways, this is all for now. There’s an s2 on the horizon, but COVID-19 means it could be years down the line…see you when s2 arrives.

1. At what age did you start writing fanfiction?
Hmm. Probably around 12-13? I think the original one I posted online was a very short one shot in the Magnificent 7 fandom (TV show from the 90′s) in response to a challenge prompt. That’s at least what I think was the first one I wrote.
2. Who is your favorite author?
Ohhh....this is entirely fandom related.
Endeavour: @hekate1308 and athena_crikey MCU: @rohanrider3 - Sound of Silence and Peter and the No Good, Horrible, Very Bad Day for the win! MacGyver: @amandagaelic (conveniently, also my favorite author in Timeless fandom, too) Iron Fist: @sholiofic (Ward and Danny bro fic for the win!) Daredevil: @beguilewritesstuff Voltron: @bosstoaster (even if I never actually finished the series because it started going a way I wasn’t thrilled with, her stories of Shiro are better than anything canon anyway).
3. Favorite type of scene to write?
The “all for naught” escape scenes. Like, it really looks like the good guy is gonna escape, they’re sooo close and then nope. Nice try! I also like the feisty ones - I really don’t actually like the begging whump trope, or the ‘take me instead’ where they just sort of submit, because that’s just not a thing I understand - like, at all. My mind always goes with ‘you’re gonna kill me anyway, so you’re coming with me and we’ll see who gets to Hell first’. So like in Lucifer fic, my favorite scene that I wrote was when I got to play with Lucifer’s bad side with him as Samael, even though Lucifer is generally a super nerd who (depending one which season it is) would rather make friends than fight.
4. What is your favorite fanfic?
To read? Oh boy. Found Family. Don’t care which fandom it is, so it’s more of a genre than a specific one.
5. What tags do you avoid like the plague?
Non-con, non-canon romantic relationships, smut, PWP, underage, dub-con, all things related to those categories.
6. What AU do you wish to write but feel like you won’t manage?
A crossover between Republic of Doyle and Magnum, PI. OH - or one I discussed many a moon ago with @buckky for a now dead fandom for a show called Deception. In the AU, magic was real instead of all stage production and the twins that were the main characters were from a long line of magic users. It got way more complicated and in depth, but I haven’t seen the show since it got cancelled, which makes it really hard to come up with motivation to write in it.
7. Do you outline, or write as you go?
Outline - HA! As Jim Hawkins and Gonzo said in Muppets’ Treasure Island “Wherever the wind may take us!”
8. What has been your favorite story to write so far? Why?
Either Running Up that Hill (before I got too pissed off at Agents of SHIELD to avoid the fandom altogether) or Damnatio Memoriae (which I love enough I am having trouble finishing the final chapter because then it will be over) and Wrong Side of Heaven for Magnum. For all three, the reasons are the same: I get to play with a character’s background that hints at being much more than anything they show on screen, and fix what I didn’t like in the canon version.
9. Do you prefer to write one-shots or multi-chapters? Why?
To write? I’ve started getting back into one shots with Magnum, but I like the longer novel-length ones a smidgen-y bit more, because I like the detail I can get into.
10. What is your favorite kind of comment?
Any of them? :-) Actually, I like the ones that are mostly sound effects and people telling me they gave up sleep to finish the long stories, or tell me that I nailed the characters voices so well that the stories read like actual episodes.
11. Why did you start writing fanfiction? Why are you still writing?
Started because the shows I watched didn’t have the story lines I wanted - which were typically Found Family, longer story arcs, and because I felt compelled to write but was too young to effectively write my own stuff. Still writing for much the same reasons - I like telling stories that others don’t. So like one that I’m working on for original is (I guess) a space opera/pirate story where the two main characters are a guy and a girl who have been best friends since they were children and that’s literally all they are to one another. No romantic subplot, just platonic love (if you must label, they’re in the ace/aro area) and is almost entirely based around Found Family and “Unless I need a kidney, I don’t need my bio family” story arcs.
So now I need to tag people, eh? Hmm. Technically already tagged, but now: @rohanrider3, @buckky, @dickgrysvnwrites, @sholiofic, @beguilewritesstuff, and pretty much anyone else who wants to come and play
