ngl one of the most useful things i’ve internalized from doing art online is never tell people what to criticize. don’t preemptively apologize for things or point out where you think you fumbled, it’s just priming people to notice minor issues that might not actually matter and hit you where you’re sensitive and throw you off your game. don’t tell people your weak points. if it’s a genuine problem they’ll point it out

You don't have to spend all of your energy becoming perfect if you aren't enjoying the process. You are not a product, you are a person, a creative, and your work also does not need to be a product.

#he's very fun to draw #i find it interesting that when he shapeshifts his pseudo-endoskeleton thingy changes shape and size to conform to his new shape #in the concept art it clearly seems to be his human form underneath the goo #and in the transformation sequences of “Big Roommates 2” and “Nega-Globby” it seems to imply it is his human form #but i think given the way it can shapeshift with the rest of him especially as seen when he goes dinosaur mode or dissolves into #a crack in the floor that it probably is more akin to a solidified goo that permeated what is left of his human body to make it malleable #bh6 globby #globby #big hero 6: the series #my art #also i wrote like so much for the alt text i hope if anyone uses that they don't mind how long it is o7 (<- salute #accidentaly posted this to my main and had to remake it RIP

I never wrote about winning the cosplay contest at STSF (lol wild), but here's the prize certificate:

On the one hand, I (almost didn't enter and) didn't think I was going to win, but on the other hand, they kept talking about a cash prize. And ok, cash prizes have weird legal issues or whatever, but this certificate is bound only to the Creation merch tables, where they sell t-shirts and bags with AI art on them. I asked what I could use it for and the lady said "maybe" I could put it towards a photo op, but it also says no tickets, so that's still up in the air.

That night, Eugene Cordero was hanging out with us at the afterparty (lol hey Rutherford (!!!???) you're super chill) and someone mentioned I'd won the contest/I probably said something about my $500 worthless prize. So he signed it to make it worth "less"

ANYWAY, all this to say

If I can use it towards a photo op (doubtful), and there is a group Voyager cast shot (cause hello expensive and I am, how you say, not formally employed), I think it'd be hilarious to do Threshold mutant Tom Paris

It seems highly doubtful, but it's a thought that at least keeps me quite amused

Since I got a good little handful of asks about it today, I wanted to pop in while I'm waiting on this file to send to my pc and say: I think *most* artists absolutely value comments and support more than they let on. It's a little embarrassing to shout it from the rooftops, or at the very least a slight faux pas, but it's true. In truth, I've been extremely down lately, but logging in to see comments, reblogs, likes, tag comments or getting asks posing fun little questions offer a lot of cheer even when the gloom is hanging a bit heavy. It's like, sure, I'm drawing ultimately for myself-- this comic/these characters are more self-indulgent than the most decadent fondue in existence, but I've also always wanted to work on a project like this when working on various other NDA projects for other people in the past. So the comments and engagement are far from a bother or annoyance, they mean the world to read, instead! So, thank you!

#BEGONE!!! *wizard beam blast leaving a black smoking crater in the middle of the tumblr dashboard* #I think another downside to everyone doing everything on phone apps on shitty tiny screens nowadays is the inability to really see details #of an image and thus its easier to share BLATANTLY fake things like.. even 'good' ai art has pretty obvious tells at this point #but especially MOST of it is not even 'good' and will have details that are clearly off or lines that dont make sense/uneven (like the imag #of a house interior and in the corner there's a cabinet and it has handles as if it has doors that open but there #are no actual doors visible. or both handles are slightly different shapes. So much stuff that looks 'normal' at first glance #but then you can clearly tell it's just added details with no intention or thought behind it. a pattern that starts and then just abruptly #doesn't go anywhere. etc. etc. ) #the same thing with how YEARS ago when I followed more fashion type blogs on tumblr and 'colored hair' was a cool ''''New Thing''' instead #of being the norm now basically. and people would share photos of like ombre hair designs and stuff that were CLEARLY photoshop like #you could LITERally see the coloring outside of the lines. blurs of color that extend past the hair line to the rest of the image #or etc. But people would just share them regardless and comment like 'omg i wish I could do this to my hair!' or 'hair goallzzzz!! i #wonder what salon they went to !!' which would make me want to scream and correct them everytime ( i did not lol) #hhhhhhggh... literally view the image on anything close to a full sized screen and You Will SEe #I don't know why it's such a pet peeve of mine.
