Hi there so I wanna ask you important question Do you ever thought about fancast of Mol?

I'm so sorry, but I might've been the worst person to ask this question /hj.

For one thing (if it's live action), I would honestly love to see a version of Mother of Learning with new actors on the scene approximately the same age as the characters. No 20 year olds playing 15 year olds. I think it'd be interesting to see Xvim played by a Eurasian man (like, idk, Butler was supposed to be in Artemis Fowl, no I'm not still salty about that). I might see Walker Scobell playing Zach, I'm not sure how well he'd be able to play 50 year old 15 year old trapped in a time loop but I think he might. Secondly, I always thought that animation might be the best way to depict the series if it were to be shifted to a visual format. I don't know why but when it comes to fantasy and sci-fi I always think of animated adaptions. But the problem with this is that I have little to no opinions on individual voice actors outside the performances I'm currently listening to. I might while watching a show/playing a game hear Tara Song, or Mark Hamill, or Phil LaMarr, or Yuri Lowenthal and think "damn, that's one good performance," but otherwise don't give a thought on who is best a voicing which type of character.

Although I will say the best type of Spear of Resolve voice actress would be one that can speak extremely villain coded without actually having the tinge of insanity or malice usually used. I imagine it'd be something like the Lady of Fire's Divine Intervention

Nurbanu's actress has an obvious eastern look to her too but nobody calls her ugly or not classically beautiful, then why Nigar? Their eyes look similar. Same with Shah, who also has an eastern look but not considered ugly. Not racism then. Is it elitism because they're sultanas but nigar is a servant? Lack of obvious glamor?

Yeah, I don’t know if it is racism/Eurocentric beauty standards. I was just speculating.

As @minetteskvareninova and @fabrizio-art once remarked on, Viktoria also looks vaguely Eurasian. I never noticed any female character but Nigar looking Eurasian, maybe because I am Turkish and it is more typical to me?

Maybe they just truly find Nigar unattractive, that’s also possible. (And it is okay, tastes differ, as long as they are not insulting about it). But yes, most likely it is the fact that she is a servant: She is often in unflattering outfits. She is in very unflattering makeup often too, especially during her pregnancy. All in all, the audience is truly split in whether they consider her attractive or not. The show does consistently call her “pretty” though.

Relationship: Family - Lyall Shiba

Hiroki Shiba (52 Years Old) - Lyall's father. A best-selling novelist known for his horror novels and has become known as the “King of Horror” for the way he can send a shiver down the spine of his readers. In fact, he was the one who influenced Lyall’s love of the occult growing up. He deeply loves his family and is worried for his son, especially after hearing that his attempted killer was allowed out of prison. 

Raquel Grayson (49 Years Old) - Lyall's mother. A beautiful woman who has lost none of her beauty despite her age. It’s clear where her children get their good looks from. She was once a former pageant queen and even became Miss Universe when she was younger. However, she decided to give it all up after she met the man who she would eventually marry. Raquel is extremely proud of her children for their accomplishments. However, she worries for her son especially after he became a homicide detective as she sees the way he throws himself into solving his cases often neglecting himself.

Lyra Shiba (24 Years Old) - Lyall's twin sister. One of Japan's top models and actresses, only matched by Lola Takahashi and Evelyn Rose. In fact, she's one of the only people willing to go in between them when they fight. The shining sun to her twin’s shadowy moon, Lyra deeply cares for Lyall and is worried about him often trying to visit him despite her busy schedule. From his near murder to his drug addiction, Lyra has supported Lyall through it all. As a result of finding Lyall with his chest carved open Lyra has developed a severe case of hemophobia (fear of blood). The sight of it, real or fake sends her straight into a panic attack. 

Isis (5 Years Old) - A black Eurasian owl that has become one of Lyall’s closest companions and emotional support animal. He found her one day as a chick abandoned underneath a tree, chirping for her mother. Lyall looked everywhere for a nest but could not find one so he took her back home and nursed her back to health. Isis is very intelligent, loyal, and affectionate, she tends to show Lyall her affection by preening his hair.

MY THOUGHTS / emotional fangirl ranting #Quynh’sAngerIsJustified (spoiler alert)

In the comic books, Noriko is Japanese, but in the movie(s) she's renamed Quynh and made Vietnamese, to match her actress. So I decided to name my sim Noriko Quynh.

I decided to do a montage of Andynh's scenes from The Old Guard, and changed the movie’s ending to satisfy my fangirling headcanons:

Being put on trial for witchcraft around the 1590s AD (I went with this date cuz even though apparently Andynh was separated in the 1600s, the 1590s was when the Daemonologie was published by King James--yup, the same King James who translated the Bible into English--at the height of Europe’s witchcraft trials). I imagine Andynh absolutely scared the bejeezus out people (foreigners?! warriors!? immortals!? lesbians!?), which is ironic AF, since King James was gaaaaay~! (Happy Pride!)

Quynh forced into the Iron Maiden and trapped underwater for hundreds of years -- do you know how many times this poor woman must've died!? Even drowning ONCE a day means that she died & came back 365 times every year for OVER 500 YEARS. O_O

I am terrified but so excited to see what happens in the sequel! ^0^ I’m not even mad that Quynh is the villain, cuz she drowned AT LEAST 182,500 times! IMAGINE! (I’m baffled how Booker even stayed SANE, seeing this woman suffer every time he closed his eyes; no wonder he’s an alcoholic!) I don’t want to hear any excuses--if they can get machines into the Marianas Trench, they could’ve certainly found Quynh in the modern era, gtfoh!

We can expect A LOT of angst in the sequel, both for Andynh (Andy’s reckoning with Quynh), and whatever inevitably ends up happening between Booker--(if Quynh abducts him and they have to fight her to rescue him--omg I hope they don’t team up and abduct Nile 😱)--and Kaysanova, particularly Joe. But I hope Booker and Quynh reconcile with the Old Guard, cuz I REALLY want a happy ending for Andynh! 🙏

Cartoon Anatomy: The feathers that make her fingers are more like actual fingers - she never moults them and can feel things with them. Sing universe birds have teeth (see: the cranes in the Sing 2 audition), and beaks are more flexible to move like lips

The evolution of animals in the Sing universe has lead to some more standardised body types (see: Mason the walrus), so Cadence’s biology is more like a mammal’s than an IRL bird’s

History

Cadence was born just outside Redshore City, in a poorer area. She had a regular childhood, although she was bullied a lot by the other children for being a magpie. Magpies have a very bad reputation, with lots of stereotypes and superstitions involving murder, thieves, and being bad luck/omens. The other children often wouldn’t let her play with them. As a young girl, she would look at the glamour of Redshore City and dream about being its princess, where everyone loved her and everyone wanted to be her friend. She developed a rather unhealthy obsession with living like a fairy tale princess, as princesses had everything she didn’t. As she grew up, she knew the best way to get this admiration was to go into the entertainment industry. She worked hard to improve her acting and singing and became a small-time theatre actress. Eventually she worked her way to the top. It was during her career that she met Klaus. At first they didn’t get on, but eventually they realised they were similar: two animals, often made fun of because of how they look, who were hard working and determined to become the best in their respective careers regardless. Each respected how the other maintained their elegance and sophistication despite their situations. This respect grew into more romantic feelings, though Cadence ignored it at first. Cadence subconciously didn’t believe she deserved love, and this manifested as a desire for a perfect “happily ever after”, causing her to deny her feelings for Klaus for a long time.

cliff: house sparrow. nowadays she tucks herself into gaps in his body like the one between his neck and his chest whenever she wants to rest, which is most of the time. he can still feel her, but only barely.

larry: eurasian skylark. always reaching and running away from life on earth.

vic: lucerne pigeon. excellent for city espionage. quick on the wing and adaptable just like he is. she was definitely a late bloomer when she settled, because i much prefer the idea of settling coming at an emotional turning point or otherwise important moment instead of just. like. puberty.

jane (just doing her but the underground has different birds): perlin :) it's a falconry hybrid of a peregrine falcon and a merlin, a beautiful bird that's half fastest animal on the planet and half noblewoman's hunting partner.

rita: a mute swan! incredibly big, heavy, and hissy, but very elegant and meant rita was extremely popular because she had the Perfect daemon for becoming an actress.

dorothy: will settle as an american crow. brash and brave when she herself can't be.

Have you read the book Brian Tee is staring in an adaption of? I have but it was years ago. If I remember correctly, Clarke (his character) is white. But glad he's Asian in the TV show (obviously). His wife is supposed to be 1/4 Korean and younger than him by maybe 5-10 years. Kidman was an interesting choice. I obviously not expecting them to find a Eurasian actress. But I hope they nix the whole quarter Asian part and make her full white like she is. It's going to be an adjustment seeing these two together. I'm indifferent to her can't name anything memorable from her, but I like him so I'll watch and I remember enjoying the book.

I haven't, Nicole Kidman is a talented actress but her face stopped moving 4 years ago and it's weird to try and watch her emote.

Even with that she is amazing in The Northman, and was pretty great in Big Little Lies.

I'm glad Brian is working with bigger names and branching out in his career. He deserves it.

Hello all!

Here from the mindofahalfasian with a new account (I can follow back).

Haven’t been on Tumblr for a few years but lately I’ve been missing blogging so I made this account on a whim. I might upload some of my own acting things later (if I’m not feeling too shy) but for now I’ll just be reblogging and creating content from already available sources. I’ll also try to write about some of my own experiences and tips if you’re interested.

Half British, half Thai and born in South Africa

Currently in my final year of a BA in Media & Communications (with a focus on acting) in Thailand. Was originally studying Biomedical Science but didn’t like how little practical elements there were in first year - I’m a kinesthetic learner.    So yeah, switched to media and kinda enjoyed it... plus it gave me much more free time to do some of my own stuff outside.

Have been acting for about 3 years and focus on screen acting. I love watching theatre but I don’t think I could do it because of how forgetful I am with lines. I once did a uni production of Mean Girls the Musical playing Janis but I forgot a couple of my lines in the early scenes. I did improvise it but the director hated improv. Did manage to get through the rest of it and do well but agh. Anyway, theatre actors, I truly commend you! 

I’ll be moving back to the UK once I graduate and hopefully find some acting work there... although it’s kinda tough for pan-asians to land roles in Britain purely because of the lack of available roles. So, I may consider LA after trying the UK for a year or two. I know the UK is improving with the push of inclusion for BAME actors but I’m not sure how quickly, especially with covid slowing the industry down. Also, I haven’t lived there for 3 and half years so it’ll be tough adjusting back maybe.

I speak quite a few different languages and am always looking for people to practice them with. Don’t be shy to say hi in your language. I might already speak it. If not, maybe you could teach me? :)

1- I am not good at lying.

2- I am not working in servitude.

Random Headcanon: Because of the actress’s vaguely Eurasian looks I always headcanon her as having some Tatar ancestry.

Unpopular opinion: She is one of the best characters in the show and her story is the saddest.

I am sure I can think of more. Any song about heartbreak, affairs, unrequited love etc. works.

Favorite picture of them:

I think her at her most charismatic is this scene in Episode 10 when she rolls her eyes at Hürrem asking whether she loves her. But it didn’t look good as a picture for some reason.

in my humble opinion emika chen being eurasian just fits

her mum being chinese and her dad being white or another ethnicity just makes sense. obviously you dont have to massively participate in your culture to still be valid, but since her mum left when she was young, it would explain why the chinese part of her culture is not so prevalent in the book, since she was raised by a non-asian parent. i also think the theme of not quite belonging she shows throughout the books would fit nicely with being mixed race, identity crisis and trying everything to just fit in somewhere is a common experience.
